LOS ANGLES (AP) — Grace Kim shot a 7-under 64 at Wilshire Country Club to take the first-round lead Thursday in the LPGA Tour’s JM Eagle LA Championship.

Playing in the morning session, the 23-year-old Australian capped her bogey-free round with a chip-in birdie on the par-3 18th.

“Well, I chunked my tee shot on the last hole 20 meters short and then I chipped it in it,” Kim said. “I think that’s pretty cool, in front of everyone.”

Maja Stark of Sweden, Sei Young Kim of South Korea and Chanettee Wannasaen of Thailand were a stroke back at 65. Stark finished second last week outside Houston in The Chevron Championship, two strokes behind top-ranked Nelly Korda.

“I was so tired when I got here,” Stark said. “I barely been practicing. Just did a little bit of what I needed to do. I feel like it’s kind of similar anyway because there are just some pins that you can’t go for just like at Chevron.”

Korda withdrew Monday, a day after her fifth victory in a row.

Grace Kim won the LOTTE Championship last year in a playoff in Hawaii for her first LPGA Tour title. She missed the cut in The Chevron, shooting 76-72.

“If I was to compare my round today to last week, I really focused on just not having too much in my mind,” she said. “I think I over-thought a lot of things through my first and second round last week and struggled a little bit mentally.”

Sei Young Kim had four straight birdies on Nos. 12-15 in her afternoon round. She won the last of her 12 LPGA Tour titles in 2020.

Auston Kim, Haeran Ryu and Nataliya Guseva shot 66, and defending champion Hannah Green matched Amy Yang and Bianca Pagdanganan at 67.

LOS ANGELES, March 25, 2024 – In 2023, the LPGA Tour’s stop at Wilshire Country Club in Los Angeles received a significant boost under new title and presenting sponsors JM Eagle and Plastpro. Dedicated to growing women’s golf, they doubled the tournament purse from $1.5 to $3 million, becoming the first regular season LPGA Tour event outside of the major championships and CME Group Tour Championship to be contested with a $3 million purse.

Fellow LPGA Tour events took notice and have since followed suit. Eleven non-major tournaments now feature purses of $3 million or more in 2024, up from just five in 2023.

To continue the momentum this year, Walter and Shirley Wang – CEOs of JM Eagle and Plastpro – announced today that the 2024 JM Eagle LA Championship presented by Plastpro tournament purse will increase to $3.75 million , the largest prize fund on the LPGA Tour outside of the major championships and the season-ending CME Group Tour Championship. JM Eagle and Plastpro are once again elevating the standard of what can be done in women’s golf. With this purse increase to $3.75 million, LPGA Tour players will now be competing for more than $120 million in total prize money throughout the 2024 season.

“We are incredibly honored to be partnering with the LPGA Tour for the JM Eagle LA Championship presented by Plastpro and to be able to present these world-class players with opportunities to achieve their dreams, ultimately igniting the dreams of the game’s future players,” said Walter and Shirley Wang. “Our commitment to the LPGA, to the players and to the spectators is to continue to lead the way in shining an increased spotlight on women’s sports and promoting a more equitable landscape for female golfers, one tournament at a time.”

In addition to the increased tournament purse in 2024, the entire tournament field of 144 players competing in the upcoming JM Eagle LA Championship presented by Plastpro will receive complimentary lodging accommodations throughout tournament week, courtesy of Walter and Shirley Wang. They will cover the lodging costs for all players competing in the championship with first-class hotel accommodations in Hollywood, along with complimentary VIP shuttle service to Wilshire Country Club throughout tournament week.

The JM Eagle LA Championship presented by Plastpro will be in its second year in 2024, and overall, the sixth year the LPGA Tour has competed at Wilshire Country Club.

“In our ongoing pursuit to empower, inspire and advance opportunities for girls and women, on and off the golf course, we are immensely grateful for Walter and Shirley Wang's unwavering support and dedication to our shared mission,” said LPGA Commissioner Mollie Marcoux Samaan. “They continue to move the needle for not only LPGA athletes but also for girls and women everywhere. Their leadership demonstrates the value they place on the talent of our athletes, their belief in the LPGA to deliver results and their steadfast commitment to creating a world-class event for fans to enjoy in Los Angeles and around the globe. We could not be more grateful for this partnership with JM Eagle and Plastpro.”

Early commitments for the 2024 JM Eagle LA Championship presented by Plastpro are headlined by the top four players in the Rolex Women’s World Golf Rankings, including new World No. 1 Nelly Korda , No. 2 and Los Angeles resident Lilia Vu , Celine Boutier (No. 3) and Ruoning Yin (No. 4). Moscow Metro

The Moscow Metro Tour is included in most guided tours’ itineraries. Opened in 1935, under Stalin’s regime, the metro was not only meant to solve transport problems, but also was hailed as “a people’s palace”. Every station you will see during your Moscow metro tour looks like a palace room. There are bright paintings, mosaics, stained glass, bronze statues… Our Moscow metro tour includes the most impressive stations best architects and designers worked at - Ploshchad Revolutsii, Mayakovskaya, Komsomolskaya, Kievskaya, Novoslobodskaya and some others.

What is the kremlin in russia?

The guide will not only help you navigate the metro, but will also provide you with fascinating background tales for the images you see and a history of each station.

And there some stories to be told during the Moscow metro tour! The deepest station - Park Pobedy - is 84 metres under the ground with the world longest escalator of 140 meters. Parts of the so-called Metro-2, a secret strategic system of underground tunnels, was used for its construction.

During the Second World War the metro itself became a strategic asset: it was turned into the city's biggest bomb-shelter and one of the stations even became a library. 217 children were born here in 1941-1942! The metro is the most effective means of transport in the capital.

There are almost 200 stations 196 at the moment and trains run every 90 seconds! The guide of your Moscow metro tour can explain to you how to buy tickets and find your way if you plan to get around by yourself.

Fun facts from our Moscow Metro Tours:

From the very first days of its existence, the Moscow Metro was the object of civil defense, used as a bomb shelter, and designed as a defense for a possible attack on the Soviet Union.

At a depth of 50 to 120 meters lies the second, the coded system of Metro-2 of Moscow subway, which is equipped with everything you need, from food storage to the nuclear button.

According to some sources, the total length of Metro-2 reaches over 150 kilometers.

The Museum was opened on Sportivnaya metro station on November 6, 1967. It features the most interesting models of trains and stations.

Coffee Ring

The first scheme of Moscow Metro looked like a bunch of separate lines. Listen to a myth about Joseph Stalin and the main brown line of Moscow Metro.

Zodiac Metro

According to some astrologers, each of the 12 stops of the Moscow Ring Line corresponds to a particular sign of the zodiac and divides the city into astrological sector.

Astrologers believe that being in a particular zadiac sector of Moscow for a long time, you attract certain energy and events into your life.

Paleontological finds

Red marble walls of some of the Metro stations hide in themselves petrified inhabitants of ancient seas. Try and find some!

  • Every day each car in  Moscow metro passes  more than 600 km, which is the distance from Moscow to St. Petersburg.
  • Moscow subway system is the  5th in the intensity  of use (after the subways of Beijing, Tokyo, Seoul and Shanghai).
