Wonderful experience on the Acamar Nile... - Luxor and Aswan Travel

Wonderful experience on the Acamar Nile Cruise

Cruising on the Acamar Cruise Ship. Fantastic experience. Wonderful crew, wonderful service and a top class experience. Special thanks to the ship manager, Mr Gerges, who made our experience really special. We will fondly remember this holiday, just because the way we were treated and not because of the luxury within the cruise ship.

I booked a completely escorted tour while in Egypt, December 7 through 13th, 2022. The only major flaw in this tour was, I was not met on time upon Arrival or departure in Cairo. Almost an hour late! Cairo traffic is horrendous. My guide in Giza was knowledgeable and made sure I was satisfied at the Pyramids and Cairo museum. I did not appreciate the unscheduled stops at the paper making shop or jewelry shop. It felt like an ambush. The Cairo driver was skilled and could teach some NASCAR drivers some tricks. After Cairo I flew to Aswan and was met by my guide for the next 5 days, Waleed Mourad. He is the most dedicated, honest and sincere person I have met in a very long time. His knowledge of Egyptian history is extensive! I took an hour flight to AbuSimble. Waleed got up at 3am and drove 3.5 hours to meet me there. I told him, I will only be there an hour and fly back, don’t drive all that way! He was there when I landed. What dedication! He was by my side the entire time and I felt safe and secure. I asked him to take me where tourist don’t normally go. He was born near Luxor and and when we arrived there he took me to a local hangout of his friends. We had tea in a small compound in a banana field. He, his host and friends made me feel at home, it was great! All entrance fees, airfare, (4 flights) meals, 3 night 4 day river cruise, transfers and escort was included. Drinks not included. Waleed made sure my shipboard refrigerator was stocked with goodies before we set sail. A testament to Waleed were greetings he received from other guides we passed at each tomb and monument. Hugs, high fives and fingers pointed at me saying you have the best man with you! This trip was not cheap! Considering my treatment, 1st rate accommodations, safety, security and flawless coordination (except Cairo Airport) it was worth it.

If you're looking to book that bucketlist trip to Egypt you will be in good hands with Hany and his team. We had an exceptional time on a 6 day tour including Cairo and a river cruise from Aswan to Luxor. Hany did a great job coordinating the entire trip and checked in regularly to make sure all was going well. We especially appreciated the flexibility in changing our Aswan itinerary for a visit to Abu Simbel. A must between! Thank you to both of our main guides, Omar and Mohamed who were exceptionably knowledgeable and put in the extra effort to make sure we were getting the best of each site. All in all everything on the trip from the service to the accommodations were first-rate. Customer satisfaction was certainly their priority. You will have a wonderful time with this company!

Very nice trip, well organized, itinerary was excelent, alternating long days with some more relaxed. Excelent hotels, and drivers. The guide was very attentive, helped with all our needs, knowlegable and very nice. All in all an unforgetable experience for all the family

Wonderful cruise with well organized schedule of tours of most important temples on the Nile River Banks with expert guide. Comfortable accommodations on boat, friendly and fun staff, delicious breakfast, lunch and dinner buffets, and spacious deck for viewing scenery on river contributed to a perfect and memorable experience. Highly recommend - exceeded my expectations for quality of trip, attentive communication and coordination of logistics. First rate professionalism and great value!

I tried to book a Nile Cruise but it was too late and no places available, Mr Hany prepared a wonderful alternative by car from Luxor to Aswan and day trip to Abu Simbel, that was ABSOLUTELY AMAZING AND UNFORGETTABLE, with a fantastic tour guide, Mr Yasser who helped us through all our adventure in perfect spanish, with remarkable punctuality, politeness, respect and professionalism. Hotel booking was excellent in both cities, all handled by Mr Hany from Luxor and Aswan Travel. I hope I can travel with them again. Beautiful country, beautiful people and the wonders you’ll see will be forever in your heart.

We had Khaled as the tour guide from Aswan to Luxor on the Nile Cruise. Khaled was helpful when requiring assistance during the trip. The trip overall was very good and i really enjoyed seeing all of the sights. My favourites are Abu Simbal and Luxor Temple. We also went on a lovely horse carriage ride around the city of Luxor. Luxor was bustling during the night with markets for lots of food and we had a lovely sugar cane drink.

Ahmed was wonderful! We enjoyed every day that we got to spend with him. He was very thorough and provided so much information at each site. Some days my wife and I preferred to hang at the pool on the boat after our tours vs. seeing more of the city we were in, and Ahmed was always extremely flexible and worked around our preferences. He was fun and personable, and we look forward to having him as our tour guide again in the future. Highly recommend!! THANK YOU Hassan from Egypt Tour ProHe was always in contact with us!

Egypt Dahabiya Nile Cruise and Abu Simbel 7 days tour

Our 13-day adventure on the Cairo and Dahabiya Boat Tour was an absolute blast! . This tour was a perfect blend of relaxation and cultural immersion. Sailing on the Nile was beyond amazing, and catching sight of farmers and buffaloes along the riverbanks added a special charm. Highly recommended

Dahabiya cruise 5 Days 4 night Luxor& Aswan Tour

Dahabiya cruise 5 Days 4 night Luxor& Aswan

I hold back on giving this a 5 star rating solely because the Dahabiya Amoura did not sail on those dates. It was a hiccup in a rather spontaneous trip I planned, to do a Nile cruise. I preferred a smaller vessel to do the tour on & the itinerary/description/timeline/& my budget lined up with the Dahabiya cruise perfectly. As happens when traveling impulsively, sometimes things don't go as planned. Last minute changes put me on a larger boat. My fixer was Mr. Ashraf Boraei. He arranged everything seamlessly. All transfers, tours & private guides. He was solid, prompt, & helpful in every way. This gentleman I can't recommend higher. Thankyou Ashraf for all you did. It's a pleasure to know you & I wish you great success in the future. If you go to Egypt, use this man to arrange things, he's brilliant. Deborah

What people love about Luxor to Aswan Tours

Tour Radar communicated with us clearly through email and WhatsApp. They kept us informed about pick up details and tour arrangements. Our guide, Sayed, was very knowledgeable and pointed out many interesting facts and information. He was prepared to change our itinerary when at times we were tired, and was most concerned about our welfare. Following conversation with non native English speakers can at times be difficult but he was able nonetheless to make our tour enjoyable
i really love this trip with our guide Mohamed. the group is small about 8 person in total. i really enjoy visiting all the places and no rush. relax and easy trip. the only downside of this trip is you need to bought your own bottle water for the buffet and it is not included. but our guide Mohamed help us to buy everytime we go out. credit to him who really put effort to give his best service to us.
The tour in general was really amazing and surpassed our expectations! In the following some aspects: Positive: - Well equipped cruise ship with pool and bar on the top, perfect room with view on the Nile and surroundings, amazing food (far better than expected) - Nice places to visit (Luxor, Edfu, Kom Ombo, Assuan), the guides were great (especially Khalid and Ida) and provided interesting information, - Small groups throughout the guided tours (infact, it was mostly one guide for just the two of us) - Organization and planning of the stops and tours was good - Friendly and helpful stuff aboard Negative: - Horse carriage to the Edfu temple (maybe if you insist you don't have to take it) - Every day-tour includes a stop at a touristic place (jewelry, papyrus, alabaster, perfume shops..), where you sometimes have the uncomfortable feeling you need to buy something

Best of Luxor and Aswan: Short Tour Planner

Aside from Cairo, Luxor and Aswan are the two most attractive cities in Egypt with numerous historical sites featuring monuments from over 4,000 years ago. If you are may need to decide between Luxor and Aswan (due to limited travel time), and are wondering which would be the best city to visit, help is at hand.

Here is a quick comparison of the best both places have to offer so that you can make an informed decision. Don't want the hassle of researching and comparing? Skip to the end and share your interests with us, and we will do our best to assist you with planning your trip.

Before making a decision, see a quick overview of what awaits in Luxor and Aswan.

Best of Luxor

Luxor is the perfect destination for history lovers, as it has several ruins, tombs, temples, and archeological museums. Luxor is often called the world's open-air museum due to its massive collection of ancient temples and monuments. Luxor is built atop an ancient city that the Greeks called Thebes.

The most popular attractions in Luxor are the majestic Karnak temple complex and the Valley of the Kings. Travelers can experience the thrill of a hot air balloon ride and float over the valley at sunrise to appreciate the massive scale of the grand layout and the architectural prowess of the ancient Egyptians. There are many other monuments, temples, and ruins to see, reminiscent of the elegance and richness of the ancient Egyptians.

Please note that there are no shuttle buses in most of the temple complexes. Therefore, comfortable walking shoes are a must. Visitors should also carry sunscreen, sunglasses, and hats to protect themselves from the scorching sun.

There's no better place to spend a few days immersing yourself in the wonders of ancient Egypt.

Best of Aswan

Like Luxor, Aswan has countless ruins from the time of the ancient Egyptians. However, it has a more relaxed and tranquil vibe, with serene boat rides on the River Nile, palm-studded shorelines, authentic souks (bazaars), and picturesque sites. You can visit an exotic, traditional Nubian village (with African architectural and cultural elements, which stand out in sharp contrast with the surrounding Egyptian style and culture). Take a tour of the Daraw Camel Market, which is dedicated entirely to the trading of camels. Marvel at the engineering behind Aswan High Dam, which put an end to the cycle of flood and drought in the Nile River region.

The most famous site in Aswan is Abu Simbel, which is about a 3-hour drive from downtown. There are flights, too, which operate from Aswan to Abu Simbel, so travelers don't have to wake up early and spend 6 hours on the road, back and forth.

However, the most luxurious way to reach Abu Simbel is on a Nile cruise. Alternatively, visitors can hire a felucca (the traditional local-style boat) and enjoy the peaceful journey. The water transportation system in Aswan is highly developed compared to other destinations in Egypt.

Luxor or Aswan: Which One Suits You Most?

After reading the brief introduction above, you would have probably made your choice. If not, we have prepared a quick comparison list to make it easier for you.

Visit Both If Time Permits

Both Luxor and Aswan are cities in Upper Egypt, so traveling between them is quite quick. They are home to many ancient Egyptian temples that date back to about 4,000 years ago. Luxor has almost one-third of the ancient monuments in the world. As for Aswan, the locals call it the "Egyptian Paradise".

Photographers and travelers who enjoy ancient Egyptian history, culture, and architecture won't regret visiting both Luxor and Aswan for the ancient marvels that they have to offer.

The Nile Cruise between Luxor and Aswan

If you choose to visit both the cities, there are multiple ways to travel between them: domestic flights, by road, or a relaxing cruise on the Nile.

Typically, the upstream cruise (from Luxor to Aswan) takes 5 days, and the downstream one takes a day less (4 days). Of course, you can opt for a round-trip cruise (starting either at Luxor or Aswan and back to the same city).

During the cruise, you can escape the hassle of navigating through city traffic, do shore excursions (visit the attractions between cities) during the day, enjoy the tranquility of the surroundings, witness golden sunsets (perhaps sunrises), and spend the night on the cruise. There are dance shows and banquets on board that will keep you engaged all the way to your destination.

Many thanks for great information!

luxor and aswan travel reviews

Based on the review here, we booked on the Sonesta Moon Goddess March, 2023. We were disappointed. The rooms were indeed classic and comfortable. The carpets in the hall were old and stained. The HVAC systems in the room did not work properly despite engineering’s best efforts. Hot water was often hard to come by. The most disappointing element was the food. This was served buffet style, and almost never maintained hot. It was as if I had returned to my high school cafeteria. The staff were attentive and tried to please.

The review above does not reflect on the current state of affairs.

The temples and tombs weren’t mere structures; they were portals to the divine, where rituals and offerings ensured the continuity of life beyond death.

Egypt and Jordan Highlights Tour day 5. An early start at 03.30am, when you will check-out of your hotel after getting your packed breakfast box.

You will be taken from Aswan to Abu Simbel in an air-conditioned, private vehicle, the journey taking about 3.5 hours. You will visit the impressive Temple of Ramesses II at Abu Simbel. The structure is dedicated to the gods Ptah, Re-Harakhte, Amun-Re, and to Ramesses II. You will then be taken to board your Nile River Cruise ship, where you will enjoy dinner.

Day 06: Sail to Kom Ombo and Edfu

Breakfast will be served on board as you sail to Kom Ombo, where you will visit the temple dedicated to two gods, Sobek and Haeroris. Back on board your cruiser, you will enjoy lunch as you sail to Edfu. Edfu boasts Egypt 's best-preserved cult temple, the Temple of Horus. Afternoon tea and dinner will be served as you sail to Esna.

Day 07: Sightseeing in Luxor

After breakfast on board, you can visit the famous Valley of the Kings at Luxor, the final resting place for 62 Pharaohs. You will see the Temple of Queen Hatshepsut, built in the 15th century BC at El-Deir El-Bahari, as well as the spectacular Colossi of Memnon. Lunch, afternoon tea and dinner will be served on board.

Day 08: Luxor Sightseeing and Sharm El Sheikh

On day 8 of your Egypt and Jordan Highlights Tour breakfast will be served on board, before you leave your cruise at 08:00 a.m. You will be taken to visit Karnak and Luxor temples, before transferring to Luxor airport for your flight to Sharm El Sheikh. Most flights travel via Cairo Airport.

At Sharm El Sheikh, you will be transferred to your hotel, where you can relax for the rest of the day. Overnight in Sharm El Sheikh.

Day 09: Ras Mohamed National Park Tour

After breakfast, your tour takes you to Ras Mohamed National Park. Here you can enjoy marvelous snorkeling in the Red Sea, with its spectacular and colorful underwater marine life. You will transfer back to the hotel in Sharm El Sheikh to spend the rest of the day at leisure. Overnight in Sharm El Sheikh.

Day 10: Sharm or Monastery of St. Catherine

You can spend the day at leisure in Sharm El Sheikh, or you can take an optional tour to The Monastery of St. Catherine. This is situated in the heart of the Sinai, at the foot of Gebel Musa, or Mount Moses, and is owned by the Greek Orthodox Church. Set in splendid gardens, its library houses the second biggest collection of illuminated manuscripts, surpassed only by the Vatican. You can see the Burning Bush and numerous antique works of art, including priceless icons, exquisite wall paintings, beautifully carved doors, and other fine religious ornaments.

Day 11: Transfer from Sharm El Sheikh to Amman

After breakfast, you will transfer to Sharm El Sheikh airport, from where you will fly to Amman.

On arrival at Amman International Airport, you will be met by a our representative. Your representative will guide you to your collection point, from where you will travel to your Amman hotel in an air-conditioned, private vehicle. Day 12: Madaba and The Dead Sea

After breakfast in your Amman hotel, you will be taken to Mount Nebo, where Prophet Moses looked at the Promised Land, and where it is thought he is buried. You will visit an old monastery that overlooks the Jordan Valley, the Dead Sea, Jericho and Jerusalem.

You will then carry on to Madaba, and visit St. George 's Church, which houses a famous mosaic displaying a 6th century map of Palestine. You then proceed to the Dead Sea, which is the lowest point on earth. There, you can relax and avail of the chance to float on the water of the Dead Sea. Overnight in your Amman hotel.

Day 13: Petra Tours

After breakfast in your hotel, you will be taken on the 2.5-hour trip to Jordan 's most famous tourist attraction, the ancient city of Petra. Petra dates back to around the 6th century B.C., when it was settled by the Nabataean Arabs, a nomadic tribe. They laid the foundations of a huge commercial empire that stretched throughout the region.

On arrival in Petra, you will begin the tour to the canyon, or Siq, on horseback. You will go on foot to the Treasury, the most outstanding monument. You will also get to see Pharaoh 's Castle, the Street of Facades, and the Royal Tombs. You will transfer back to your hotel in Amman for the night.

Day 14: Final Departure

Sadly, this is the last day of your Egypt and Jordan Highlights Tour. Before you leave however, you can enjoy a wonderful breakfast at your hotel, and you'll have a few hours to do as you please before our travel consultant comes to collect you for your drive to the Amman International airport.
