Paramore Announce Full Tour With Taylor Swift

After joining  Taylor Swift 's ongoing "The Eras Tour" for a single concert this spring ,  Paramore have now been added to the full U.K. and European leg of the pop star's tour for 2024.

That means the Hayley Williams -led pop-rock band will act as supporting artist for the world-famous singer's long stretch of shows scheduled for May through August of next year. Taylor Swift's 2024 U.K. and Europe Eras leg encompasses nearly 50 concerts altogether.

Swift said in an announcement Wednesday (July 5), "Really can't contain my excitement because… we're adding 14 new shows to The Eras Tour. And I get to travel the world doing shows with @paramore!!"

The pop star added, "Hayley and I have been friends since we were teens in Nashville and now we get to frolic around the UK/Europe next summer??? I'm screaming???"

Paramore's latest,  This Is Why , arrived in February. Shortly after its release, the emo-rock favorites shared  their excitement in its success . The album debuted at No. 1 on Billboard 's Top Alternative , Top Rock  and  Top Album Sales  charts.

Paramore are currently headlining their own shows across the U.S. and will perform in Australia and New Zealand this fall.

Paramore opening for Taylor Swift's 2024 UK & Europe tour

After opening the first two dates on the Eras Tour, Paramore is reuniting with Taylor Swift overseas in 2024.

Hayley Williams and company will be opening for the pop superstar's upcoming U.K. and European Eras leg, kicking off in May.

"Hayley and I have been friends since we were teens in Nashville and now we get to frolic around the UK/Europe next summer???" Swift says . "I'm screaming???"

Paramore announce 2023 UK and Ireland headline tour

Here we gooooo! Paramore are returning to the UK and Ireland next year for a six-date arena run, with a portion of ticket sales going to Support + Feed.

It’s happening! Following the release of their recent single This Is Why, Paramore have announced their long-awaited return to the UK and Ireland in 2023.

Armed with their upcoming sixth studio album – also titled This Is Why, and due for release on February 10 – the trio will be stopping off in Dublin, Cardiff, Glasgow, Manchester, London and Birmingham next April, with special guests Bloc Party.

Tickets go on sale next Friday, October 28, with a portion of sales going towards Support + Feed – an initiative which ‘takes action for a global shift to an equitable, plant-based food system to combat food insecurity and the climate crisis’. On top of that, Paramore are also working with the REVERB community on the environmental impact side of things. We love to see it.

Paramore have announced a UK and Ireland headline tour, in support of their highly anticipated sixth album This is Why, kicking off in 2023. The band will play at The O2 on Thursday 20 April 2023 with special guest Bloc Party.

Following a jubilant return to the road in the U.S - this will be the band’s first UK tour in over four years.

A portion of ticket sales for all UK and Ireland shows will be donated to Support + Feed. Support + Feed takes action for a global shift to an equitable, plant-based food system to combat food insecurity and the climate crisis. Learn more at supportandfeed.org .

Paramore is excited to work with environmental nonprofit REVERB on their 2023 tour to create positive impacts for people and the planet. In addition to partnering on a comprehensive tour sustainability program, the band and REVERB will host an Eco-Village at every show where fans can take action on important environmental and social causes and much more.

Paramore released the title track from the new album on 28 September. This is Why is currently climbing streaming and radio charts around the globe.

Taylor Swift will soon launch the European, UK and Ireland legs of her record-breaking Eras tour.

Over the past year, the 34-year-old pop star has been performing her career-spanning shows at stadiums around the world, including North America, Tokyo, Melbourne, Sydney and Singapore.

A month after the release of her 11th studio album, The Tortured Poets Society, she will continue the Eras tour with four nights in Paris at the La Défense Arena.

After this, she will perform two shows in Lisbon, Portugal, then a further two nights in Madrid, Spain, and Lyon, France.

UK-based fans (and those travelling to see Swift from overseas) will then get to see her live during three nights from 7 to 9 June at the Scottish Gas Murrayfield Stadium in Edinburgh, Scotland, before she heads to Liverpool and Cardiff.

Swift is booked to perform a staggering eight shows at Wembley Stadium in London, with the first three taking place between 21 and 23 June, before she returns for the final five nights of her UK and Europe tour between 15 and 20 August.

In between those, she will have also played in Dublin, Ireland, in Amsterdam, Zurich, Milan, Gelsenkirchen, Hamburg and Munich in Germany, Warsaw in Poland, and Vienna, Austria.

Ticketmaster recently announced a major update for fans with tickets to see Swift this summer.

In a five-star review of the very first show of Swift’s Eras tour , critic Kelsey Barnes wrote how the US star guided fans through more than a decade’s worth of “her best work”.

“Her ‘Eras Tour’ was designed as a journey through that staggering back catalogue of 10 albums, from her earlier country twang on her self-titled debut to the shift to synth-pop on 1989 , then to the subdued folk and alt-rock of Folklore and Evermore ,” she wrote.

“Throughout the opening night of the tour, it frequently feels as though the audience is being caught up with Swift’s past, present and future. In the 44-song setlist that spans three hours and 15 minutes, she shows why the “era” concept is so integral to who she is. Each chapter marks a specific shift in her artistry.”

The Tortured Poets Department, released on 19 April, is the pop titan’s 11th studio album. It appears to have been inspired, in part, by the five stages of grief. Ahead of the release, Swift shared five new playlists that arrange her songs into those stages: denial, anger, bargaining, depression and acceptance.

“These songs represent making room for more good in your life,” she says in a brief audio message that accompanied the final playlist, acceptance. “Making that choice. Because a lot of time when we lose things, we gain things too.”

The couple attended this year’s edition of the Californian festival, whose first weekend took place from April 12-14.

It’s the first time Swift has gone to the festival since her infamous 2016, now dubbed ‘Bleachella’ due to her surprise bleach-blonde hair.

This year, Swift and Kelce could be seen dancing to collaborator Jack Antonoff ‘s band Bleachers from the side of the stage. In the footage, the pair were swaying to Bleacher’s 2014 hit ‘Rollercoaster’.

Swift and Kelce were also spotted in Aussie DJ Dom Dolla’s crowds, as they raved along to an unreleased Disclosure track and Benny Benassi ‘s ‘Satisfaction’, for which Nelly Furtado came out on stage to provide the live vocals.

UK Swifties ‘lose £1m’ to Eras Tour ticket scams

Lloyds Bank has detected a surge in fraud cases from those buying tickets for Swift’s upcoming UK stadium dates

UK Taylor Swift fans are estimated to have lost over £1 million (€1.2m) in a wave of online scams since tickets went on sale for the European leg of The Eras Tour last July, according to fresh data.

Analysis by Lloyds Bank of scam reports made by its own customers found a surge in fraud cases from those buying tickets for Swift’s upcoming UK stadium dates.

More than 600 customers have come forward to report being scammed – significantly more than for any other music artist. The average amount lost by each victim was £332, although in some cases it was more than £1,000.

As the figures are based solely on Lloyds’ own customer data, it estimates that across the UK there are likely to have been at least 3,000 victims since tickets went on sale, with over £1m being lost to fraudsters so far.

“For her legion of dedicated Swifties, the excitement is building ahead of Taylor’s Eras Tour finally touching down in the UK this summer,” says Liz Ziegler, fraud prevention director at Lloyds Bank. “However, cruel fraudsters have wasted no time in targeting her most loyal fans as they rush to pick up tickets for her must-see concerts.”

The record-shattering Eras Tour lands in the UK and Ireland in June with special guests Paramore for stops at Edinburgh’s Murrayfield Stadium (7-9 June), Liverpool’s Anfield Stadium (13-15 June), Principality Stadium in Cardiff (18 June), London’s Wembley Stadium (21-23 June & 15-20 August) and Aviva Stadium, Dublin (23-30 June).

Lloyds says that more than 90% of reported cases start with fake adverts or posts on Facebook, where dozens of unofficial groups have been set up specifically for people looking to buy and sell tickets for Swift’s concerts. Likewise, Facebook Marketplace has various listings for tickets at venues all over the country.

“It’s easy to let our emotions get the better of us when we find out our favourite artist is going to be performing live, but it’s important not to let those feelings cloud our judgement when trying to get hold of tickets,” adds Ziegler.

“Buying directly from reputable, authorised platforms is the only way to guarantee you’re paying for a genuine ticket. Even then, always pay by debit or credit card for the greatest protection. If you’re being asked to pay by bank transfer, particularly from a seller you’ve found on social media, that should immediately set alarm bells ringing.”

UK Swifties are not alone in being targeted by con artists around the tour. Australian Taylor Swift fans reportedly lost in excess of A$260,000 (€157,000) in a fake ticket scam for the singer’s February concerts in the country, while Inside Retail reports that Singapore-based recommerce platform Carousell suspended the sale of tickets in all of its six markets to prevent scams ahead of Swift’s Singapore dates in March.

It's almost Record Store Day again in Southwest Florida, and vinyl fans will no doubt be lined up first-thing Saturday morning to score fun, limited-edition records.

This year's vinyl treasures include a blue-colored album from hot folk-pop singer Noah Kahan, demo tapes from "The Rocky Horror Show" and a 12-inch single of Paramore and David Byrne covering each other's songs. Plus nearly 400 more titles coming to record stores all over the United States.

"They come out with a lot of really cool stuff that you’re not gonna get anywhere else," says Ralph Tarantino, owner of Record Trader 1 in Fort Myers.

You have to get there early, though.

The best stuff goes quickly.

"It's usually the busiest day of the year," says J.W. Honeycutt, owner of Joe's Record Exchange in Fort Myers. "We had a huge line (last year). It wrapped all the way around the block."

Record Store Day: Celebrating vinyl and the people who love it

The annual event is one of the biggest, busiest days of the year for many independent U.S. record stores and vinyl lovers. And that’s true for the five Fort Myers and Port Charlotte stores taking part Saturday.

After all, that's the whole idea behind the 17th-annual Record Store Day: To drum up enthusiasm and publicity for the country's independent record stores.

"Record Store Day was conceived in 2007 ... as a way to celebrate and spread the word about the unique culture surrounding nearly 1400 independently-owned record stores in the US..." the event's website says. "This is a day for the people who make up the world of the record store ― the staff, the customers and the artists ― to come together and celebrate the unique culture of a record store and the special role they play in their communities."

There's also a spin-off event that happens in November: RSD Black Friday. But the April event is the original.

When is Record Store Day?

Record Store Day usually happens on the third Saturday in April. This year, that lands on April 20.

Many of 2024's releases play with that "4:20" theme, including pot-leaf-shaped picture discs and other marijuana-themed releases (such as Cheech & Chong's classic 1978 comedy album, "Up In Smoke").

These limited-edition albums are limited-supply ― sometimes with press runs of 5,000-10,000 or less. So if you're not there when the stores open, you might not get what you want.

Vinyl's ongoing popularity

Just a couple decades ago, vinyl seemed to be dying as digital downloads and streaming took over the marketplace. But then records became cool again with teens and twentysomethings, and suddenly vinyl was making a comeback.

Interest keeps growing, Honeycutt says.

"Every couple weeks, there's always somebody in who just got a record player and they want some records to play on it," Honeycutt says. "It's still pretty popular."

Americans spent $1.4 billion on albums in 2023, according to the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA). That's a 10 percent increase from 2022 and the 17th straight year of growth.

That total surpassed CD sales for the second year in a row, but it's still much less than streaming. That generated a record-high $14.4 billion in 2023 ― making up 84 percent of all recorded music revenue, according to the RIAA.

Collectors give different reasons for their love affair with vinyl. The sound is "warmer” and more true to life, they say. They also like the collectability and all the cool variations, such as colored vinyl or picture discs (both of which will be in ample supply for Record Store Day).

Then there's the touchable nature of vinyl: You can hold albums, look at their over-sized cover art and read their liner notes. And there’s the physical act of actually putting the album on a turntable. You get none of that with streaming music or MP3s.

What Record Store Day means for Southwest Florida vinyl shops

It's big business, of course.

"It's definitely going to be a busy day," says Tarantino of Record Trader 1. "It's one of the busiest of the year."

This will be the first Record Store Day for Stellar Records, which opened in September 2023 across from Edison Mall in Fort Myers.

"I am very excited and kinda nervous," owner Liz Cochran says. "I'm just ready to see what the community has to say about Record Store Day."

Cochran is a fan, herself, and has often ventured out on Record Store Days to see what cool, rare albums she could find. But this year, it's different: She sees Record Store Day as a way to reach vinyl fans who don't know about her store yet.

"The main thing for me is I want the awareness," Cochran says. "Yes, we’re here. Yes, we're open seven days a week and we have an online store."

For Tarantino, Record Store Day is about more than ringing cash registers and swiping credit cards. It's about a shared love of music and vinyl.

"I like when people come in and buy records," he says. "You see some new faces, and you get to talk to people about cool stuff. … The conversation is pretty amazing."

Record Store Day exclusives: What can you find this year?

This year's Record Store Day exclusives ― nearly 400 releases in all ― include singles, compilations, picture discs and colored-vinyl records by everyone from The Beatles and Pearl Jam to De La Soul and Lil Peep.

Southwest Florida stores are still getting in shipments and some aren't sure yet what they're getting or how much of each album. But here's what many have ordered and plan to sell Saturday:

What Fort Myers, Cape Coral stores are doing for Record Store Day

Most stores are opening early. Stellar Records and Joe's Record Exchange, for example, both open at 8:30 a.m. – a full 3½ hours earlier than their normal posted opening time.

Plus many stores are planning sales, giveaways and other special events. Joe's Record Exchange is handing out free RSD cupcakes that day, for example.

And at Stellar Records, the first 30 people get a store-logo tote bag filled with "Stellar Records swag" and releases from their small punk-rock label Roach & Roll Records. They're also raffling a Bluetooth turntable and offering baked goods from Fort Myers restaurant Shawn & Tony's Kitchen (formerly The Gathering Place).
