Sir Paul McCartney MBE is an English musician, singer, songwriter, multi-instrumentalist, and composer and one of the most celebrated musicians of the 20th century.

He was part of perhaps the most famous British band of the 20th century, The Beatles who are regarded as one of the most popular and influential acts in the history of rock music and his songwriting partnership with John Lennon is one of the greatest of all time. McCartney has been recognised as one of the most successful performers of all time collating 60 gold discs and sales of over 100 million albums and 100 million singles of his work with the Beatles and as a solo artist.

In 1999 he received the honour of being inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame as a solo artist due to the fact that he has written, or co-written 32 songs that have reached number one on the Billboard Hot 100, and as of 2014 he has sold more than 15.5 million RIAA-certified units in the United States. McCartney, Lennon, Harrison and Starr received MBEs in 1965, and in 1997, McCartney was knighted for his services to music. He performed at the opening ceremony of the London 2012 Olympic Games and is seen as ambassador of British music.

McCartney first met Lennon at a church fete in 1967 where he was performing with his current band The Quarrymen, little did they know they would form such a close working relationship and would eventually become the most successful recording band in history. Cited as the driving force behind the first ever rock concept album, 'St. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club', McCartney kept creativity at the forefront of everything he did.

He currently holds an honorary doctorate degree from Yale Music, a Brit Award for an Outstanding Contribution to Music, twenty-one Grammy Awards and a knighthood. The tireless musician is still touring to this day and shows no sign of slowing.

Live reviews

The Paul McCartney concert on October 30, 2014 in Greensboro, NC was far and away the best concert I have been to and I have been to many. To see this music legend alone is amazing but to see him and his band, not missing a beat the entire evening, goes beyond amazing. McCartney's voice gave just a little a couple of times but his enery and showmanship was spot on, and and other than those one or two times, his voice was as rich as ever. Make no mistake, the tickets were expensive but you get every penny's worth of your money back in the show you get. He started late, about 45 minutes or so, but then played for almost 3 straight hours and did 2 extended encores. Just amazing. I saw BB King not too long ago and he played about the length of one of McCartney's encores and just droned on and on for the rest of the hour long show, telling stories that I guess he found entertaining but no one else did, as evidenced by a few boo's. Sad and a waste of good money. Don't get me wrong-I still love BB King but it was a sad waste of time and money that night. You will not have any waste seeing Paul McCartney. His renditions of the old Beatles songs were a delightful step back in time, his Wings songs as tight as ever and it all just got better and better. The lighting and background effects on a large wall of lights produced beautiful effects that went from psychadelic to photo's of children, the Beatels, buildings and more. Standing alone and playing an acoustic guitar on a large block that rose about 20 feet above the stage was fantastic, with a full moon, leafless tree and midnight blue sky behind him. And then a large blue rose forming on the front of the block just set the mood for his excellent guitarwork and vocals. When the show ends with Live and Let Die, they pyrotechnics were amazing. The roar of about 16,000 fans combined with fireworks and blasts of flames in perfect unison was the way to hit a finale. And the 2 encores were a perfect end to a perfect night. If you get a chance to see Paul McCarney, go-just go! Worth the money and then some!

PAUL MCCARTNEY is Out There playing for 3 hours. Yes, that is right! Pauly rocked the sold out show for 3 hours. This is the third time I have had the pleasure of seeing him and have seen many other bands but this was the best show I have ever seen. Not only did he rock out with fab Beatle songs like "Helter Skelter" but he also slowed it down with songs like "The Long And Winding Road". He treated us to some great Wings surprises like "Hi Hi Hi" and "Listen To What The Man Said". He also played some great songs from his latest album "New". I have his concert DVD's and he added many different songs to the mix while still keeping in some of the hoped for favorites.

I don't want to give anything away but there are some awesome surprises music wise awaiting the lucky person who will attend one of his shows.

This is a must see show, the material spanned his entire career. He sounded fantastic and he looks great! To all the ladies out there, you will still swoon when you see him! I did! He was funny and charming. One of the most refreshing things was that you could tell he was having an awesome time and you felt like he wanted to stay and play longer as much as you wanted him to stay and play longer! He really shows his fans that he cares about us as much as we care about him.

A very cool and unexpected event: He brought a couple up onstage who had a sign stating that he was ordained and would he marry them. He did a short little ceremony for them stating that it really wasn't legal but it was awesome! I totally wanted to grab the guy next to me (who I didn't know) and yell "We're next!"

I really think this is a show for anyone who really loves music. Paul was changing his guitar's and bass's out even playing one of his original guitars that he used for Sgt.Peppers. Throwing in an awesome tribute to Jimi Hendrix. Go see him if you get the chance. I would go again tonight if I could!

Beatles legend and Wings mainman, Paul McCartney will remain indelibly etched into the annals of time. The humanitarian, bassist and vocalist has traversed six decades, performing in some of the world's biggest and best venues, at historic moments (Band Aid), and unique moments (who ever pegged Macca as a Nirvana member?!), McCartney is a one-of-a-kind performer, fully deserving his place in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. The 72-year-old Liverpudlian is entirely at ease on stage – he's essentially lived there for the best portion of his life – his catalogue is studded with megaton hits. Bond theme “Live And Let Die” (replete with flamethrowers when performed at festivals), Stevie Wonder duet “Ebony and Ivory”, “Coming Up” and “Jet” are non-Beatles bangers, but he frequently performs legendary cuts like “Let It Be”, “Back In The USSR” and “Hey Jude” at the end of his sets. How thoroughly immense is it watching a genuine Beatle lead a rousing chorus of “Naa naa naa nanananaaaaa?" Though arguably not as elastic as he once was – don't expect too many backflips – he's still a consummate entertainer. His voice has aged, but he still smashes every note, and his fretwork's not diminished a smidgen. It's rare you get to see a legend in the flesh, but grab any chance to witness McCartney, and you'll not regret it.

Paul McCartney. Just let the legend of that name sink in.

I can honestly, without a doubt say that this was the best concert/show I have ever been to (and I have been to numerous concerts).

Not only did he perform his New songs, but he performed all of his hits from The Beatles to The Wings as well. And I am sure he barely hit the top of the iceberg with what he performed considering his incredible library of number 1s and hundreds upon hundreds of songs.

This 72 year old man performed a 3 hour nonstop performance in clouding pyrotechnics, memoriams to his late and great Beatle counterparts, and 3 encores without breaking a sweat.

He may not be able to hold his notes as long as he did when he was younger but he still sounded amazing nonetheless. I was blown away and so happy that I can tell my kids when I am older that I saw one of The Beatles and it was perfect.

I don't think I have ever recommended a concert as highly as I am for Sir Paul. He is a living legend and am honored to have seen him rocking, running all over the place and putting on a great performance at the age of 72.

YOU MUST GO SEE HIM LIVE. It's an experience well worth the money and his tickets start at 25 for far seats but even so, WORTH IT.

BEST CONCERT OF MY LIFE!! I can say Even one of the most incredible moments of my life. I know what it means being able to see the legend Sir Paul McCartney live and he fullfill all my expectations and way more! His band is absolutely amazing!

But let me tell you the highlight of my year:

I could only afford the cheapest level tickets but I was more than ok with that since i was going to see my idol, then on my way to our seats with my 2 girlfriends, an angel waiting at the top of the stairs ask us to see our tickets and then offer to change them, we were surprised and maybe thinking it was a scam but then she pulled her envelope with 3 FIRST ROW TICKETS!! Best seat in the arena, she identify herself as part of Sir Paul team, and after many thank yous and hugs we went to see the biggest concert.

Thats why he is the absolutely GREATEST rock star of this planet! Beacuse he truly cares about his audiences, i will never in my wildest dreams tought i was going to see able to be on the first row, besides the wonderful drama of the situation his performance was perfect, spotless, he is full of energy and will be forever grateful to him for such an amazing night.

Sir Paul McCartney concert in Munchen was fabulous (Fab four, Fab one :)). The Olympiastadion was full of happy delighted people who were lucky enough to get a ticket. There were Beatles fans along with Wings and Macca fans from many different countries, young and not so young people, all cheerfully singing the everlasting songs and dancing to our beloved music that defined the lives of many of us. The show went on for full 2 hours and 40 minutes, almost 40 songs from all periods, from late 50's to nowadays hits.

For me, it was a once in a lifetime event. I grew up with Beatles and Paul McCartney music, and I have been waiting for a long time for this. It's been a long time since I bought my first Beatles record, even long time since I bought my last one (not to mention I have all Beatles records plus many of their solo albums :)), and the possibility to see one of my heroes live in concert, it was just a dream come true.

It was worth every single penny spent on concert ticket, air ticket, airport transfers, accomodation for couple of days, and of course whole lotta german beer :)

Long live Sir Paul, long live Beatles, forever live their eternal music!

This is the second time I've seen Paul McCartney in the past few years, and yet again he did NOT disappoint. First of all, he played almost 3 hours both times, so you will get plenty of bang for your buck based on the duration of his show alone. Secondly, considering he is 72 years old, he still nails most of the hard notes and delivers a true, genuine performance while frequently interacting with the audience in between songs. Paul is a very personable character that makes the fans feel appreciated and loved as much as we love him. His show started with a few songs that would be recognizable to the casual fan, it delved off into some less "commonly" known songs and a couple cuts from his new album (which also sounded great), then he closed out the show with MANY huge hits and sing-alongs that definitely left the audience wanting more! The pyrotechnics that kicked in during Live and Let Die were unexpected and amazing! I think he also did three encores as well, and I would definitely return to watch any future shows he does in Kansas City!

I don't need to say how amazing this man is and how happy I am to have attended this show. On "Live and let die" there was even pyrotechnics and fireworks. Paul was telling us stories, singing and joking, I think he switched more than 5 guitars during the show and the evening was just overall beautiful.

The venue was terrible, though.. There was no warning about not bringing the bags and we had to pay 15 Euros to leave the bag before getting in - backpacks were not allowed at all (so they basically forced us to give this money as it was too late to go back to hotel and leave it there). Also the security check was useless.. We were drinking in line to warm up and forgot about empty bottle in the pocket.. Guess what? We were able to bring a GLASS BOTTLE through security check, cause we didn't remember and they never checked.. What if I was a psycho? It's glass after all.

As soon as the legend, Sir Paul McCartney himself took the stage, the magic began! He performed for three solid hours, entertaining the crowd with songs written with the Beatles, with Wings, and on his own. I got teary-eyed when he first came into view, as you don't expect to see a legend, at 72 years old, still performing at the top of his game! Paul McCartney still LOVES what he does! Financially, he doesn't need to perform. He does it because he loves to and because he still can, which is impressive! This concert shall be one of my favorites for a long time - and I've attend many concerts in my lifetime. He came out and did two encores, even running around the stage. He never sat down unless poised at the piano. A legend, a master, a must-see!

paul mccartney tour 2024 uk

Who would’ve thought that Paul McCartney ’s Got Back tour in 2022 would continue on into 2023 and even soon into 2024? We certainly didn’t. Ex-member of The Beatles , Paul McCartney realized how popular his original tour in the United Kingdom had gotten, and he decided to extend it further, much to our delight.

Fans worldwide were excited to know if their country made the cut, but Paul and his team remain very secretive about future tour dates. We’re only getting one country at a time, but we aren’t complaining. The anticipation has us at the edge of our seats, just waiting for more info.

Rock magazines and fanatics worldwide have a lot to say about Paul McCartney ‘s  Got Back tour . If you’re contemplating whether or not you should go to a Paul McCartney concert, these quotes should help you make up your mind:

“ Paul McCartney delivers the greatest rock ‘n’ roll show on Earth” – Rolling Stone

“A stirring, spellbinding affair … It’s almost unfair how deeply satisfying McCartney ’s concerts are. Packed with hits by the Beatles and beyond, attempting to pick faults is like searching for the corner of a sphere” – The Australian

“Stadium singalong with Paul McCartney is cathartic and magical” – The Age

“The set list also included the explosive Live And Let Die , Let Em In , Love Me Do , Blackbird , Jet , Band on the Run , Let It Be , Getting Better , Helter Skelter , and Hey Jude . It combined epic and influential pop and rock, and state-of-the-art production with every trick, treat, bell, whistle and skyrocket” – Herald Sun

“Few musicians know how to captivate a crowd like McCartney ” – The Advertiser

McCartney ‘s announcement of the tour was quite the experience on his ongoing Brazil tour, meanwhile, he shared a playful video on his Twitter account where the opening line was, “Come to Brazil? Claro!” It’s an inside joke among different artists since fans always comment on their socials with this exact sentence in their own languages, urging them to come to them.

Price Range for Paul McCartney’s Got Back Tour

Depending on where the live performance of Paul McCartney is held, the prices may vary. If you’re looking to buy tickets for the ongoing Brazil leg of the 2023 tour, the prices start from $30 to $45, depending on the venue. Furthermore, it can go up if you’re looking to get a seat closer to the stage. The prices will be significantly higher for the UK and the States.

Paul McCartney’s Liverpool Oratorio • Thursday, July 18, 2024

Spread the love! If you like what you are seeing, share it on social networks and let others know about The Paul McCartney Project.

From Liverpool Oratorio — Cincinnati Opera :

PAUL MCCARTNEY’S LIVERPOOL ORATORIO JULY 18 & 20, 2024 | 7:30 PM JULY 21 & 27, 2024 | 3:00 PM MUSIC HALL • SPRINGER AUDITORIUM Music and libretto by Paul McCartney and Carl Davis Sung in English with projected lyrics FOR THE WHOLE WERE WE BORN. Memories from Paul McCartney’s life in Liverpool England inspire chapters on growing up and finding our way. Beginning with Latin which means, “not for ourselves, but for the whole were we born,” the piece explores formative moments, relationships, and the responsibilities we face. See the world premiere opera adaptation of McCartney’s acclaimed work for orchestra and voices, a powerful story full of heartfelt lyrics and effortless melodies.

From Cincinnati Business Courier, September 20, 2023:

The music and the libretto of the “Liverpool Oratorio” are entirely McCartney’s work. But because McCartney doesn’t read or write music, he needed a partner – Davis – to orchestrate the parts, set the texts and make a full vocal and orchestral score, said Evans Mirageas, Cincinnati Opera artistic director. “I knew it existed, it sold millions of copies, and that it had been performed over 100 times as a concert work, like Mendelssohn’s ‘Elijah,’” Mirageas said. “So I bought a score and listened to it, and thought, they’ve actually created an opera. There’s just no staging.” The oratorio had everything necessary for opera: drama, character development, glorious choruses, arias and intimate duets. Mirageas contacted McCartney’s publisher, who said others have had the same idea, but an opera never came to fruition. The publisher contacted McCartney, who asked for more details. His answer came back quickly. “We had his blessing,” Mirageas said. McCartney wrote in a letter to the company, “I am writing to express my wholehearted support for this project. I believe that Cincinnati Opera is uniquely positioned to bring this work to life in a new way, and I have no doubt that your production will be an inspiring experience for all who see it … I look forward to its premiere next summer.” In terms of staging, Mirageas felt the work needed a designer and director who had a connection to North England, especially the industrial cities. Caroline Clegg will direct. Sets and costumes will be designed by Leslie Travers. Lighting will be overseen by Thomas C. Hase. Mirageas also thought that the musical interludes in the work were “crying out for dance.” There will be choreography by Michael Pappalardo. The opera-to-be calls for operatic voices. The oratorio was premiered by the legendary soprano Kiri Te Kanawa and tenor Jerry Hadley. (adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({}); “I think it’s important to understand that this piece is genuine opera. It is not pop songs,” Mirageas said. “He found a vein of creativity in this work that is genuinely operatic.” Mirageas spent “a magical afternoon” going through the score with Davis, who also conducted the oratorio’s world premiere in Liverpool Cathedral. Unfortunately, Davis died unexpectedly in August. […] Will McCartney come to the premiere? His manager believes he will unless he is occupied on a tour. […]

Paul McCartney drops hint about new tour dates

It seems the former beatle could be heading out on an international tour.

By Charlotte Krol

Paul McCartney performs live wearing a burgundy jacket

Paul McCartney has hinted that he might hit the road again.

The soloist and former Beatle shared a cryptic message on his social channels over the weekend encouraging fans to sign up to his mailing list with the promise of “news coming soon”.

“Got to get you into my life!” reads the post, which is a nod to the song from The Beatles ‘ 1966 album Revolver .

The message is set against a blue sky with white clouds as the sound of an old-school radio tuning into a station plays out.

But, as highlighted by Billboard , the fact that Australian concerts giant Frontier Touring has also posted the video message is a big hint that McCartney will be touring internationally. The company produced McCartney’s 2017 stadium tour of Australia and New Zealand.

McCartney’s last live performance was when he headlined Glastonbury 2022 .

The teaser follows the the musician saying last month that artificial intelligence has allowed him to create a “final” song by The Beatles , which will be released later this year.

McCartney spoke about the prospect during an interview with  Radio 4’s  Today Programme  and explained how AI technology has enabled him to “extricate” the vocals of late Beatle John Lennon from an old demo in order to complete the song.

Though McCartney did not mention the song by name, it’s believed that the track will be one developed by Lennon in 1978 called ‘Now and Then’.

Sean Ono Lennon and James McCartney, announcing the song Primrose Hill.

John Lennon and Paul McCartney’s sons team up for new single

James McCartney’s acoustic ballad Primrose Hill, co-written with Sean Ono Lennon, was drawn from childhood vision in Scotland

The most famous songwriting credit in history, Lennon-McCartney, has been resurrected – though for a song written by the Beatles’ sons.

Primrose Hill, a single by Paul McCartney’s son James, has been co-written with Sean Ono Lennon: an acoustic ballad with a shuffling backbeat and ruminative guitar soloing.

McCartney explained the song in an Instagram post: “I had a vision as a child in Scotland, on what was a lovely summers day. Letting go, I saw my true love and saviour in my mind’s eye. Primrose Hill is about getting the ball rolling with me & finding this person.”

His father Paul promoted it on social media, sending “lots of love” to Ono Lennon.

McCartney, born to Paul and Linda McCartney in 1977, released two solo albums in 2013 and 2016, and said he was now “really getting the ball rolling and I am so excited to continue to share music with you”. Primrose Hill follows the release of a solo single earlier this year, Beautiful. He has previously co-written songs with his father and played with him on albums such as 1997’s acclaimed Flaming Pie.

“It’s hard to live up to the Beatles,” he said in a 2013 interview with the Daily Mail. “When Wings toured they got slated. Even Dad found it hard living up to the Beatles. I started out playing under an alias because I wanted to start quietly. I had to serve my time as a musician and wait until I had a good body of songs and for a time when both myself and my music were ready. I don’t want to sit around. I want to earn my own living.”

Ono Lennon has also carved out his own musical career since early appearances on albums by his mother Yoko Ono. He joined the alt-rock band Cibo Matto, who then backed him – along with Ringo Starr’s son Zak Starkey – for his debut album Into the Sun in 1998. Lennon went on to collaborate with artists as varied as Albert Hammond Jr, Soulfly, Mark Ronson and Jurassic 5, and has released further solo work alongside film scoring.

Activity remains lively around the Beatles, meanwhile. Following the release of what was billed as the final new Beatles song, Now & Then – which topped the UK charts in November – and the three-part Peter Jackson-directed documentary Get Back, a reissue of the 1970 film Let It Be has been announced to air on Disney+ in May. Directed by Michael Lindsay Hogg, it charted the making of the album of the same name, and leftover footage from the shoot formed Jackson’s documentary series.

“I’m absolutely thrilled that … Let It Be has been restored and is finally being rereleased after being unavailable for decades,” Jackson said in a statement. “I’ve always thought that Let It Be is needed to complete the Get Back story.”

The open-top tour bus used by Wings in 1972, which is being auctioned next week.

Fans can also get their hands on a unique piece of McCartney memorabilia – the open-top bus that he and Wings travelled in for their 1972 European tour.

“If we’re gonna be in Europe in the summer going to places like the south of France, it’s just silly to be in some little box all day gasping for air,” McCartney reasoned at the time. “So we came up with this idea to have an open deck, upper deck kind of thing. We’ve got some mattresses up there so we can just cruise along, fantastic, it’s great, just lie around and get the sun.”

Fully restored and in working order, the double-decker in Yellow Submarine-style livery is expected to sell for up to £200,000 at auction on 22 April.

NEWS... BUT NOT AS YOU KNOW IT

John Lennon and Sir Paul McCartney’s sons just re-wrote history together

John Lennon and Sir Paul McCartney's sons James McCartney and Sean Ono Lennon

John Lennon and Sir Paul McCartney ’s sons – James McCartney and Sean Ono Lennon – have teamed up for a new song , Primrose Hill.

Sir Paul and the late Linda McCartney’s son James, 46, and his ‘good friend’ Sean, 48 – the only son of Lennon and Yoko Ono – have co-written the track in what is the first Lennon-McCartney collaboration in over 50 years.

Taking to social media announcing the release of Primrose Hill alongside an eerily familiar picture of the pair, James wrote: ‘Primrose Hill is here! Today I am so very excited to share my latest song co-written by my good friend @sean_ono_lennon.

‘With the release of this song it feels like we’re really getting the ball rolling and I am so excited to continue to share music with you.’

The song’s cover is a cartoon verison of the iconic bench at the top of Primrose Hill in North London with its stunning view out to the city.

Released on Friday, the track’s melody is reminiscent of the pair’s fathers’ style with its effortless catchy chorus and the echo of a Lennon-like falsetto.

John Lennon and Paul McCartney

‘I had a vision as a child in Scotland, on what was a lovely summer’s day,’ James wrote in an April X post ahead of the song’s release.

‘Letting go, I saw my true love and saviour in my mind’s eye. Primrose Hill is about getting the ball rolling with me & finding this person.’

Sir Paul also took to social media to promote his son’s song, as he said: ‘My son James has a new song out called Primrose Hill – check it out! And lots of love to Sean Ono Lennon who co-wrote the song.’

James has been involved in his father’s solo projects in the past, working on Flaming Pie and Driving Rain.

In his own career, James previously released a four-track EP called Available Light in 2010, his debut album titled Me in 2013, and his latest work – The Blackberry Train – in 2016. Primrose Hill is his first release since then.

Meanwhile, Sean’s solo debut, Into the Sun, was released in 1998, while he also worked with Ono and formed a band, The Ghost of a Saber Tooth Tiger.

He released Friendly Fire in October 2006 and went on tour with it.

In 2014, the Ghost of a Saber Tooth Tiger released their most successful album titled Midnight Sun, and Sean went on to tour with the likes of the Flaming Lips, Tame Impala, Beck, and Florence and the Machine.

Fans were loving Primrose Hill, as pilatesadventure_ness took to James’ Instagram announcement and wrote: ‘Beautiful. You can certainly hear the influence of Paul and John, but it’s also your own sound. Love it.’

‘Now this is fantastic. I bet John is smiling from ear to ear and so happy. Life truly does come full circle. God Bless,’ commented Karen Cunningham.

‘Never thought I see another Lennon and McCartney original 🔥’ raved gi1pp.

To go alongside the release of Primrose Hill, James is holding a contest asking couples to submit videos between 1 to 3 minutes long which capture the ‘essence of love’ while showing their favourite location.

The competition says videos should show couples engaging in activities while Primrose Hill plays as the background music.

Each submission will be judged on creativity, emotional impact, visual appeal, and alignment with the theme.

If they win, couples will have the opportunity to feature in the official music video for Primrose Hill, with additional prizes including signed albums, exclusive merchandise, and personalised messages.

The deadline is in two days time on April 19.

Lennon welcomed two children before he was shot in 1980 outside his residence in New York City.

Sean is Lennon’s only child with Yoko, now 91. Lennon also welcomed Julian Charles John Lennon, 61, with ex-wife Cynthia Lennon.

Sir Paul is dad to fashion designer Stella McCartney, 52, filmmaker Mary McCartney, 54, and artist Heather McCartney, 61, who – alongside James – he shares with his late wife Linda McCartney.

Later in life Sir Paul welcomed Beatrice McCartney, 20, with ex-wife Heather Mills.

Paul McCartney’s bold One Hand Clapping bootleg announcement

For the first time, Paul McCartney and Wings ‘ One Hand Clapping bootleg live album will be released officially.

The former Beatle announced the new remaster, which will be released on June 14.

“The wait is over: with the June 14 release of One Hand Clapping, one of the most bootlegged live albums in musical history, will finally receive a proper release,” the announcement read. “In August 1974, when Band on the Run was enjoying a seven-week consecutive #1 stint at the top of the UK album charts, Paul McCartney and Wings headed to Abbey Road Studios for the filming of a video documentary and possible live studio album — One Hand Clapping.

“Despite overwhelming demand for newly recorded material from the biggest band in the world at the time, One Hand Clapping was never officially released,” it continued.

The album was recorded over four days and directed by David Litchfield. As the announcement points out, in the decades since, bits and pieces from the sessions have been bootlegged. In fact, some tracks have appeared on official McCartney releases throughout the years as well.

Several formats will be released. One Hand Clapping will be released on digital platforms, and McCartney’s website also has a CD and a double vinyl edition up for pre-order as well. There is also a double vinyl that includes a bonus 7″ record with 5 previously unreleased solo acoustic tracks recorded at Abbey Road.

One Hand Clapping tracklist

In addition to the release announcement, McCartney also unveiled the tracklist for the album. It features all of Wings’ hits at the time in addition to McCartney’s solo material.

At the time it was recorded, Wings had yet to embark on the “Wings Over the World” tour. Songs like “Band on the Run” and “Jet” hadn’t been played for audiences yet. So, One Hand Clapping captures the earliest performances of them. The album also features brief performances of the Beatles’ “Let It Be” and a medley of “The Long and Winding Road”/”Lady Madonna.”

Check out the full tracklist below.

  • “One Hand Clapping”
  • “C Moon”/”Little Woman Love”
  • “Maybe I’m Amazed”
  • “Let’s Love”
  • “All of You”
  • “I’ll Give You a Ring”
  • “Band on the Run”
  • “Live and Let Die”
  • “Nineteen Hundred and Eighty Five”
  • “Baby Face”
  • “Let Me Roll It”
  • “Blue Moon of Kentucky”
  • “Power Cut”
  • “Love My Baby”
  • “Let It Be”
  • “The Long and Winding Road/”Lady Madonna”
  • “Junior’s Farm”
  • “Wild Life”
  • “Hi, Hi, Hi”

Paul McCartney’s career

Paul McCartney formed Wings shortly after the Beatles broke up. As a group, Wings released seven albums and embarked on five tours. As a solo artist, McCartney has released 19 studio albums (including Ram with his late wife Linda McCartney).

His most recent album release was 2020’s McCartney III. This closed out a trilogy of albums that commenced in 1970 with his McCartney album. He has also released several classical music albums and three as a part of the Fireman (a group he formed with Youth).

Additionally, McCartney has been a touring machine as a solo artist. Since his first solo tour in 1989, McCartney has consistently toured all around the world. His most recent tour, the “Got Back” tour, concluded on December 16, 2023, with a show in Brazil.

Paul McCartney and John Lennon’s sons team up for new song Primrose Hill

James mccartney’s acoustic ballad, co-written with sean ono lennon, draws from a childhood vision in scotland.

The most famous songwriting credit in history, Lennon-McCartney, has been resurrected – though for a song written by The Beatles ’ sons.

Primrose Hill, a single by Paul McCartney ’s son James, has been co-written with Sean Ono Lennon: an acoustic ballad with a shuffling backbeat and ruminative guitar soloing.

[  Get back: Paul McCartney’s long-lost bass guitar returned after more than 50 years  ]

He joined the alt-rock band Cibo Matto, who then backed him – along with Ringo Starr ’s son Zak Starkey – for his debut album Into the Sun in 1998. Lennon went on to collaborate with artists as varied as Albert Hammond jnr, Soulfly, Mark Ronson and Jurassic 5, and has released further solo work alongside film scoring.

[  The Beatles: Now and Then review - A near miraculous, sad, fab farewell  ]

“I’m absolutely thrilled that . . . Let It Be has been restored and is finally being rereleased after being unavailable for decades,” Jackson said in a statement. “I’ve always thought that Let It Be is needed to complete the Get Back story.”

Fully restored and in working order, the double-decker in Yellow Submarine-style livery is expected to sell for up to £200,000 (€234,000) at auction on April 22nd. – Guardian
