2022 Charles Schwab Cup playoffs standings: 36 players advancing to Charles Schwab Cup Championship

The PGA Tour Champions's 2022 Charles Schwab Cup playoffs conclude with the third and final stage, the Charles Schwab Cup Championship, played in Phoeniz, Ariz., at Phoenix Country Club.

The Charles Schwab Cup Championship field has the top 36 players in Charles Schwab Cup points through the regular season and the TimberTech Championship, the second of three playoff events.

With the start of the playoffs, points are multiplied by two, with each dollar earned equaling two points. At the end of the Charles Schwab Cup Championship, the top 36 players in total points, adding in the Dominion Energy Charity Classic and the Charles Schwab Cup Championship, qualify for the Charles Schwab Cup Championship in Arizona.

2024 Masters odds, picks, field, predictions: Golf insider dodging Rory McIlroy at Augusta National

S cottie Scheffler will try to keep his impressive run of form going when the 2024 Masters gets underway on Thursday, April 11, at Augusta National Golf Club. Scheffler has recorded two wins and seven top-10 finishes in eight starts this season. The 27-year-old has won two of his last three starts and finished on top of the leaderboard at the Masters in 2022. He secured another top-10 finish at Augusta National in 2023 despite shooting a 75 in the second round.

Scheffler is the 5-1 favorite according to the 2024 Masters odds. The No. 1-ranked player in the world is followed by Rory McIlroy (10-1) and defending champion Jon Rahm (13-1) on the PGA odds board. McIlroy can complete a career grand slam with a victory at Augusta and he's been close on numerous occasions. He's finished in the top 10 in seven of his last 10 starts at the Masters, which includes a runner-up finish in 2022.

However, McIlroy hasn't won a major championship since 2014 and has missed the cut at the Masters in two of his last three starts at Augusta National. In addition, the 34-year-old entered the month of April ranked 119th in strokes gained: approach to green (-0.176) and 92nd in scoring average (70.16). Nejad cannot justify backing McIlroy as one of the favorites for the 2024 Masters given his recent form.

Instead, Nejad is high on the chances of Hideki Matsuyama, even though he's a +2800 longshot. The 2021 Masters winner is rebounding from an injury-plagued 2023 season and looks strong, getting his first win of the season at the Genesis Invitational. He followed that up with a 12th-place finish at the Arnold Palmer Invitational and a sixth-place finish at the Players Championship.

Matsuyama finished within the top 20 in his last two starts at Augusta. "His Masters history is excellent and he's done it by showcasing elite ball striking," Nejad told SportsLine.
