Alternatively, book a private transfer by car or take the well-signposted train at the airport. In 30 minutes, you get to Rome’s central train station, Termini.
When you arrive at your hotel, relax, shake off any jet lag, and enjoy your first of 5 nights in Rome.

Check-in for your cruise at the Port of Civitavecchia . Royal Caribbean’s ships have all the amenities you want or need on vacation.
Settle into your cabin, unpack your suitcase, and head to the buffet restaurant for lunch. Or grab your favorite glass of bubble and relax on deck for the sail-away party!
Cruise Day 2: Naples/Capri, Italy
On day 2 of your cruise, your ship docks in Naples, southern Italy. What a way to start your cruising vacation! You are just a 1-hour ferry ride from the island of Capri to Naples. We recommend that you use this day to visit beautiful Capri.
Emperor Augustus’ once a private paradise and now a modern-day celebrity hideaway, Capri is a luxury holiday destination.
Capri – how to get there and what to do
Some shore excursions to Capri with the cruise line can be costly. You can make your way there quite easily. Most cruise ships take you to Terminal Stazione Marittima in Naples (always check with your cruise line). The hydrofoil from nearby Molo Beverello takes under one hour to reach Capri. You will need to queue to get your tickets.
The price of a one-way ticket to Capri is around 25 euros per person, but be sure to buy a return ticket for a specific departure time. Queueing for tickets on the island can take a very long, and you do not want to miss getting back to the port in time to board your cruise ship or tender boat.
Note the time your cruise ship or tender boat departs Naples, and make sure you take a hydrofoil from Capri at the latest 2 hours before ship departure.
If all this seems too complicated, book tickets with your cruise line for your trip to Capri, then you can explore yourself once you are there.
It can be a choppy ride over to Capri if the sea is rough, so if you get seasick quickly, you may want to take seasick tablets or put on a seaband before you start your day.
The towns of Marina Grande, Ana Capri, and Capri
The island has three towns: Marina Grande, your landing point, Anacapri, and Capri. We recommend downloading a map of the island before traveling to orientate yourself.
When you arrive by ferry or hydrofoil, you will be in the village of Marina Grande. This is the area of the marina and the port on Capri, where all transport to the island departs.
You can get to Ana Capri and Capri from Marina Grande. Both towns are closed to traffic in the center, so once there, all exploring is done on foot. If you want to go further afield and explore the island’s coastline and nature, you can rent a scooter at Marina Grande.
The town of Anacapri
Anacapri is the quieter side of the island and the highest point. It is excellent for nature lovers visiting Mount Solaro for panoramic views. The bus takes about 20 minutes from Marina Grande to Anacapri. Once in the town, a chair lift from Piazza Vittoria to Monte Solaro takes approximately 10 minutes.
The town of Capri
Shoppers and foodies should spend some time in the exclusive boutiques and cafes in Capri, the island’s more busy, cosmopolitan side.
Take the cable car or bus from Marina Grande to the main square, Piazza Umberto (the Piazzetta), in the center of Capri town. There are small buses available that take approximately 20 people per bus. You can buy a ticket at the ticket booth in the arrivals harbor of Marina Grande. It is walkable within about 20 minutes, but the road is steep, narrow, and winding, and in the heat, it feels a long way.
Alternatively, you can use the Capri Funicular (also referred to as the Capri cable car); the red train takes you to the Piazzetta in just a few minutes.
Visiting The Blue Grotto and Faraglioni, the trio of sea giants
When you get to Marina Grande, there are also plenty of options to book a small boat to see the fantastic illuminated caves of the Blue Grotto. This is, without doubt, the most famous attraction on Capri, together with sailing through Faraglioni’s stunning towering rock formations.
From Marina Grande, there is a private jetty where you buy tickets for a boat tour in a small wooden row boat. The entrance fee to the Blue Grotto is around 18 euros per person, and it’s usual to tip your captain.
It’s an unforgettable experience!
Amalfi Coast and Capri excursion
Suppose time and budget allow, and you want to squeeze even more sights into your shore excursion. In that case, we highly recommend a private boat tour from Naples port along the Amalfi coast to visit Amalfi and the stunning Positano, then over to Capri Island—a fantastic way to see this beautiful coastline. Viator offers a great trip.
Visit the legend of Pompei
Instead of Capri, a history enthusiast will love visiting the ancient ruins of Pompei, buried by the 79 A.D. eruption of Mount Vesuvius. Walk around the ruins yourselves with a guidebook. Or, better still, join a guided tour to hear an expert’s stories behind the ruins.
Unfortunately, with just one day in the port of Naples, you will not have time to visit Capri and Pompei. But hopefully, this will not be your last visit to southern Italy. The whole of the Amalfi coastline deserves a trip in itself. When you visit, we recommend basing yourself in Positano. You can rent a car or use local transport to all the coastal towns. This coastline will be one of the prettiest places you will ever visit.
Cruise Day 3: Cruising Day at Sea
Today you can relax and spend time on your fantastic cruise ship, Wonder of the Seas. Sailing from Naples to Barcelona takes time, so you are on board all day.
Packed with fun activities, entertainment, great restaurants, sports facilities, and excellent kids’ clubs, make the most of the ship today.
Cruise Day 4: Barcelona, Spain
Barcelona is known for trendy boutiques, fantastic architecture, and outstanding cuisine. The Catalan capital is our favorite Spanish city. It has everything: shopping, beaches, stunning architecture, great food, world-renowned art, friendly locals, and cozy neighborhoods.
We have many great ideas for how to spend a day in Barcelona. Our Barcelona – The Essential Guide article offers detailed itineraries for five spectacular sightseeing days in this unique historic city. Choose the one that suits you best:
- The Gothic Quarter (Barri Gòtic)
- Barceloneta, the Beach & Port Olympic
- Parc Guell and Camp Nou
Barcelona is an accessible city, and the port is close to the center. Choose the itinerary that suits you best, or book a guided tour with your cruise line if you don’t feel like finding your way around.
On our Barcelona page, you will also find detailed information on how to return to the port again after your day exploring here.
Cruise Day 5: Palma de Mallorca, Spain
The Bay of Palma is a beautiful destination and the capital of the Spanish island Mallorca.
We love Palma’s rich cultural heritage with stunning architecture and works of art. And of course the wide open beaches, water sports and deep sea fishing on offer.
You can take a leisurely walk into the city center from the port. If you opt not to book an excursion with the cruise line and want to tour the city yourself, head towards Palma Cathedral. Located in the city’s heart, it’s an excellent spot to start exploring independently.
Portixol is a 10-minute walk from Palma Center if you prefer a beach. Here you will find plenty of local restaurants serving lunch with a view.
There are many bike and electric scooter rentals along the beachfront, and on a hot day, it’s a great way to explore the coastline. If you want to book in advance, then Viator has trustworthy suppliers.
Visit Soller from Palma Port
Suppose you have visited Palma before or want to discover another region of the island. In that case, one of our favorite shore excursions from the port of Palma is to Valldemossa and the historic train journey to Sóller on the Orange Express. Nestled in the Tramuntana Mountains, Valldemossa exudes old-world charm with its cobblestone streets and picturesque architecture. Discover the former Carthusian monastery, where composer Frédéric Chopin once sought inspiration.
You can also take the Orange Express to Sóller. The Orange Express, a vintage wooden train, takes you through olive groves to Sóller, known for its art nouveau architecture and citrus orchards. This excursion seamlessly combines history and natural beauty for an unforgettable Mediterranean experience.
Cruise Day 6: Provence, France (Port of call: Marseilles)
Marseilles is a rather unattractive industrial port. However, once in the lovely historical city center, visit sights such as Quai des Belges, the Chateau d’If, and Notre Dame de la Garde.
If you prefer to visit without a guide, take the cruise ship’s shuttle into the marina area. From here, you can head to the friendly neighborhood of Le Panier. Walk along the main shopping street of Rue St-Fereol, and shop local street vendors and unique boutiques. You’ll find many art galleries and antique shops. Look out for their famous soap as a great souvenir .
Or enjoy their world-famous signature dish, bouillabaisse, at any of the restaurants in town. Remember to stick to the busy touristy areas of Marseille and beware of pickpockets.
The best excursions from the port of Marseilles
We recommend that you visit the port of Marseilles to experience the Provence region and see France as it was centuries ago. There are some fantastic excursions available as transport is a must.
Aix-en-Provence
No Marseille cruise excursion would be complete without a venture to the charming town of Aix-en-Provence. This picturesque haven is a haven for art, culture, and relaxation. As you stroll along its graceful boulevards, shaded by towering plane trees, you’ll discover elegant fountains, artisan boutiques, and inviting cafes.
Aix’s architectural beauty is epitomized by its stunning Cours Mirabeau, lined with 17th-century mansions adorned with wrought-iron balconies. The town’s vibrant arts scene and its association with Post-Impressionist painter Paul Cézanne add an extra layer of allure, making Aix-en-Provence a must-see destination during your Mediterranean cruise.
Arles, Les Baux, and St. Remy
Another fantastic shore excursion combines the treasures of Arles, St. Remy, and Les Baux, creating a truly remarkable experience for cruise travelers.
Begin your adventure in Arles, where the relics of ancient Roman architecture stand testament to a bygone era. From the iconic amphitheater to the mesmerizingly preserved Roman baths, Arles immerses you in a sense of antiquity.
The journey then takes you to St. Remy, a picturesque Provençal town renowned for its charming streets and squares. Here, you can explore the Saint-Paul-de-Mausole Monastery, which once housed the brilliant yet tormented Vincent van Gogh.
And finally, a visit to Les Baux introduces you to a captivating medieval village perched upon a rocky outcrop. With its commanding views over the Provence countryside, this destination offers a glimpse into a past marked by feudal splendor. Visiting these three captivating areas in a single excursion paints a vivid picture of their unique histories and demonstrates the enduring allure of the Mediterranean’s cultural gems.
Calanques National Park
The Calanques National Park is about a half hour from the port. The rugged coastline calls for good walking shoes. There is also the possibility of a boat trip from Marseilles to Cassis, which takes miles of the beautiful coastal landscape.
If you want to go further afield, now is your chance to visit the stunning Alpes Maritimes village of Eze. You will need to book a shore excursion to provide you with the transportation to get there – a scenic journey with panoramic views of the fantastic French landscape.
Arriving in Eze, walk the narrow, winding cobblestone streets and admire the ancient stone buildings and vibrant bougainvillea balconies. The castle ruins are a medieval fortress that transports you back in time as you climb the stone steps to be rewarding with stunning views. If you have time, visit the Jardin Exotique botanical garden, perched on a cliffside, stopping for lunch at the Mas Provencal restaurant. Sitting amid hundreds of fresh floral displays, this is unlike any restaurant you have ever visited.
Cruise Day 7: Florence/Pisa, Italy (Port of call: La Spezia)
On day 7 of your cruise, the Allure is docked in La Spezia, Italy. If you do not want to wander far from the ship, explore art galleries, museums, and castles in La Spezia. Visit the Castle of San Giorgio, located on top of a hill overlooking the port with its magnificent views. Alternatively, take a boat trip up the River Magra to view its medieval bridges and wetlands.
Choosing what to do or which excursion to book for your port of call in La Spezia can be challenging. La Spezia is the entrance port to so many fantastic Italian destinations. You are spoilt for choice. From here, you can visit Cinque Terre, Pisa, or Florence. Each one in itself is great, and the surrounding areas are stunning.
Glorious Cinque Terre
If you want an adventure out in nature and love hiking, choose Cinque Terre. Cinque Terre is a group of five villages that stretch along Italy’s Riviera di Levante, with a dramatic section known as the Cinque Terre National Park. It is a UNESCO World Heritage site. You can visit the five villages, Riomaggiore, Manarola, Corniglia, Vernazza, and Monterosso al Mare.
Book this day out with your cruise line; alternatively, book train tickets or a guided tour in advance. Remember, Cinque Terre is a few hours away from La Spezia, so don’t miss your cruise departure time. We promise – it’s well worth the journey!
An alternative to visiting Cinque Terre is a trip to Pisa or Florence. Pisa may well have been on your bucket list for a long time! Who doesn’t want to stand next to the famous leaning tower?
In our opinion, Florence offers a richer experience. In Florence, you can discover the Uffizi Gallery, where you can view Botticelli’s Birth of Venus and Primavera, climb the world-famous Duomo or walk the postcard-perfect Ponte Vecchio bridge. Don’t worry if you feel you need longer here. Florence is a beautiful destination to visit again. Make this city part of a more extended trip to the region of Tuscany in your future travel plans.
Cruise Day 8: Return to Port of Civitavecchia, Rome, and disembark your cruise
Disembark at Port of Civitavecchia. Head back into Rome to extend your stay if you have booked extra hotel nights. You can book the Civitavecchia Express train, including a bus ticket from the port to the train station. Click to learn how to book a ticket on the Civitavecchia Express train.
Or transfer back to Rome airport with Royal Caribbean’s transfer bus for your flight home.
Book your transfer in advance while you book your cruise because places on board the airport buses can become fully booked. Remember, if you have a morning flight booked to take you home, ask the cruise line for an early checkout from the ship to ensure you get on one of the first transfer buses.

What To Know Before Going On A Mediterranean Cruise With Royal Caribbean
Mediterranean cruises are often an idyllic way to experience the marvels of Europe. Think of it as a European sampler; you get a tiny taste of each city before heading to your next destination. After hopping onboard Royal Caribbean’s Enchantment of the Seas, we share the good, the bad, and the ugly of our Mediterranean Cruise with tons of great information for a first time cruiser.
How To Choose The Perfect Cruise Line For Your Mediterranean Cruise
There are various Mediterranean cruise itineraries, each focusing on different areas of the Mediterranean. Your perfect cruise depends on your budget and the cities and countries you want to see.
Budget is the most significant factor in determining which cruise line you will sail with. If traveling with children, look for a line offering a kid’s club and activities. From there, you will want to evaluate the itineraries, finding ports of call that interest your traveling party.
PRO TIP: You spend less time onboard the ship on European cruises than on Caribbean cruises . Ships will dock early in the morning and then depart later in the evening, giving guests ample time to explore. Excursions are often 8-9 hours long, leaving you exhausted when you return to the ship.
After reviewing the many options, our family decided on Royal Caribbean’s 7-night Western Mediterranean Cruise , which hit Venice, Rome, Naples, Florence/Pisa, Cannes, and Barcelona.
Enchantment Of The Seas Review
Enchantment of the Seas has a cult following, as many cruise fanatics love that the ship was cut in two and expanded back in 2005. Enchantment of Seas is one of the smaller ships in Royal Caribbean’s fleet, which can accommodate around 2,700 passengers. The appeal of fewer people onboard is enticing compared to Royal Caribbean’s bigger ships like Odyssey of the Seas, which can accommodate 5,510 passengers.
Don’t expect all the bells and whistles you find on other Royal Caribbean ships. On the contrary, the ship sailed right out of the 90s with light pink interiors, oak trim, and whimsical spaces with exotic decor.
This vessel will not have water slides, an ice-skating rink, and a central park but rather a splash area on the pool deck, a jumbo screen needing repair, and a rock climbing wall.
Dining Onboard The Enchantment Of The Seas
Countless dining options are available onboard the Enchantment of the Seas. However, I strongly advise enjoying the local culinary creations and cuisine from the countries you are visiting. Have pasta in Rome, get crepes in France and paella in Spain. Remember, the best spots to snag local cuisine are often in the back alleys off the main tourist areas.
Pro Tip: You will choose your dining preference before sailing. For a European Cruise, I recommend the anytime dining or a later dining time , as many excursions arrive back at the ship until after the first seating. That way, if you didn’t opt to eat at port, you can enjoy the fine dining offered onboard.
Dining Options
My Fair Lady Dining is the main dining room onboard the ship. It is two-tiered, offering traditional and anytime seating. Traditional dining is when you dine on the same day every day and have the same servers, while anytime dining provides more flexibility. For anytime dining , guests will have different servers and a possible wait during peak hours. Kids menus are available with classics such as mac-n-cheese, hamburgers, chicken tenders, and pizza.
For curious minds, my daughter insisted on bringing her bear Rose, to dinner with us one night. The staff made such a fuss over Rose she decided to come to all the meals and even dress up!
Guests seeking a more laid-back dining approach can venture to The Windjammer Cafe . Indulge in culinary creations from around the world, comfort foods, and delicious desserts at this popular buffet. The Windjammer is open for all three meals, but it can get overcrowded during peak hours for lunch and breakfast.
We often opted for a continental breakfast in our stateroom since many excursions had an early departure time. Not wanting to battle the breakfast buffet, it was often more enjoyable to sip our coffee and nibble on our croissants while getting ready in the morning.
Late-night dining is limited to the Park Cafe, which stays open late, offering fresh-baked pizza, sandwiches, and light bites.
Elevated dining options are available at Chops Grille or by reserving the Captain’s Table for the ultimate dining experience. During our cruise, we did not opt for either of these options as they were an extra cost. With so many great dining options included, we allocated our money to different experiences.
Top Things To Do Onboard Enchantment of The Seas
Everyone vacations differently, so a cruise is a great option when traveling with groups. Download the Royal Caribbean app to see the daily activity schedule for the week. Take a stab at the daily trivia, attend an art auction, or try a fitness class. Options are endless, but here are a few things we thought were great activities you want to take advantage of.
Attend the Champagne Art Auction for a complimentary glass of champagne while having the option to bid on many of the lovely art pieces on display around the ship. Many of these pieces are beyond my budget, but I love watching the auction and seeing others win that prized work to add to their collection.
Rock Climbing At Night is an event where guests can scale the famous rock wall under the stars at the back of the ship. The Rock Wall is open periodically throughout the day during good weather if you cannot climb at night.
The Belly Flop Competition is one of the funniest pool games I have seen on a cruise. Guests compete for the best belly flop, which is a hoot!
Don’t miss the Sail Away Party with Balloon Drop to kick start your cruise. Dance the evening away in the atrium with a fun balloon drop the kids will adore.
Catch a show in the Orpheum Theater . From magicians to musicals, there is always top-notch entertainment happening in the theater. Performances are twice a night to accommodate the dining schedules.
Enchantment of The Seas Kids Club Review
To put it shortly, it was a letdown. I was expecting a Royal Caribbean Cruise to have a top-notch kids club, and the one on Enchantment of the Seas was not that. My six-year-old daughter requested not to attend the kids club because it was boring .
After our most recent Disney Cruise , she fell in love with kids’ clubs, but sadly, not all kids’ clubs offer the same level of entertainment. She quickly realized that most of her time at this particular kids’ club was spent coloring, playing one specific game with a ball, and watching movies.
Walk into the “arcade” across the hall for an even bigger disappointment . There are more arcade games at a small-town bowling alley than here. The arcade room is barely big enough for six people to fit comfortably and holds 4-5 games max.
She only went to the kids club three times during our cruise, each time hoping it would improve. After the third strike, she didn’t want to try it anymore and gave up on it. More adult-focused activities were happening around the ship, so we often would take her to the pool, find live music, or hang out in our stateroom playing games.
Stateroom 7672 On Enchantment of Seas
Upgrading to a Junior Suite was an excellent option for more space to spread out, especially in the tight quarters of a cruise ship. However, I wish I had examined the deck plans more closely because our room was directly under the Spotlight Lounge. The Lounge had karaoke and music almost nightly till midnight. With it being so loud, you can practically sing along to all the songs.
Back in my youth, I would be down there belting it out with the best of them; however, with a child in tow, my late nights now consist of staying up till 9:00 pm. Bring earplugs if you are a light sleeper and go to bed early.
As with all older ships, the staterooms are dated. The oak trim and furniture are worn, but the room is sparkling clean. The crew members do a fabulous job keeping your stateroom clean and tidy. All room service trays are removed, and they will help you with any requests.
One other downside to this particular stateroom was the balcony. While the balcony is huge, there is one major issue: the soot from the smoke stack falls directly onto it . The smokestack is towards the back of the ship; therefore, your balcony will be covered with black rain depending on how the wind blows.
Portions of the balcony are covered, but it puts a damper on your experience, especially when you pay extra for a junior suite. As you know, I wasn’t about to let a little soot keep me from enjoying those gorgeous balcony views, but it is important to note for anyone looking at rooms in the aft portion of the ship.
A perk of the Junior Suite is that there is a bathtub, and you get an Expresso machine in your room!
Royal Caribbean’s 7-Night Western Mediterranean Cruise
- Day 1-Ravenna-Venice
- Day 2-Koper-Slovenia
- Day 3-Sea Day
- Day 4-Naples-Italy
- Day 5-Civitavecchia- Rome, Italy
- Day 6-Livorno-Florence/Pisa
- Day 7-Cannes, France
- Day 8-Barcelona, Spain
Day 1- Getting To Your Ship
When looking at the cruise itinerary, it indicated that our cruise left from Venice. You will want to dig deeper to see which cruise terminal you sail from. Since Venice no longer allows large cruise ships to come down the Grand Canal, you may not be leaving from Venice proper but rather another cruise port hours away.
If your port is Ravenna, it is three hours from the Airport in Venice Marco Polo . That means a few things:
- You will need to schedule a transfer to get to the port. Royal Caribbean offers transfers, but you must book them in advance. They typically leave from the airport around 11 am-12:30 pm on the day of your cruise.
- If your plane arrives in Venice the day your cruise departs, you will not see Venice. Time will not be on your side to see the city and catch a three-hour transfer. Navigating the airport to historic Venice will take about an hour, and that is with a vapperato (private boat taxi).
- We arrived in Venice a few days early to see the city, then booked a vapperato back to the airport the morning of our cruise to catch the transfer.
- Consider taking the train from Venice to Ravenna or booking a private transfer if you need help getting on the transfer through Royal Caribbean.
If you want a beautiful hotel in Venice, consider the Hilton Venice . While this hotel has many perks, including a gorgeous rooftop bar overlooking the Grand Canal, the most significant amenity is the complimentary water taxi across the Grand Canal to three popular spots. This eliminates the need to navigate public water taxis or hire a vapperato each time.
Pro Tip: I recommend taking it at dusk if you plan a gondola ride. A whimsical magic falls over the canals as the setting sun sets the sky ablaze in colors.
Day 2- Koper, Slovenia
The Port of Koper drops travelers right into the heart of their old town without needing a transfer. The port is 300 meters from the main town square with its cathedral, cafes, restaurants, and tourist attractions. This unique port of call was offered on the 7-night Western Mediterranean Cruise With Royal Caribbean.
Each port of call offers a variety of shore excursions you can book through the ship or another travel company. Many tourists will even put together custom shore excursions.
Pro Tip: We always recommend that you check with whatever company you are working with to ensure they will have you back on the ship in time. When planning your own, ensure you have a backup plan if something was to happen.
For Example: If visiting Croatia, you may opt to explore the real Croatia by cruises or take a self-guided walking tour of the city.
We booked the Postojna Cave Tour , which was beautiful. The Postojna Caves are Europe’s largest caves, offering guests a train ride through the cave system with an hour-long walking tour. Wear long pants and bring a jacket as the caves get cold, regardless of the weather outside.
Day 3- At Sea
Day 4- naples, italy.
Mount Vesuvius looms as you pull into port, an eerie reminder of the tragedy that occurred at the legendary city of Pompeii hundreds of years ago. With the island of Capri in the distance and the lure of a day trip to stunning Positano, cruise passengers have the difficult decision about what sites they want to see during their brief stent in port.
Naples offers many iconic landmarks and awe-inspiring landscapes that are impossible to do in a day. Guests will often have to choose between exploring the sparkling Almafi Coast, seeing the ancient ruins of Pompeii, or taking in the sites of downtown Naples.
The cruise terminal puts guests into the heart of Naples. Downloading a self-guided walking tour to see the city on foot from the cruise terminal is easy. Many tours are available through the ship to see as many sites as possible, but the reality is you will get a taste of each one.
It is easy to fall into the trap of trying to see as much as possible and then leave exhausted. Take it firsthand from me, who passed out in the streets of Naples from heat stroke trying to get in the final sites.
If you do the Almafi Coast, focus your time on Sorrento and Positano; if you are sailing to Capri, spend the whole day on the island; if you want to do Pompeii, plan on spending a few hours there, then hit a few sites in downtown Naples after your tour.
Day 5-Civitavecchia- Rome, Italy
One of the most important things to note about this port is that it will take an hour and a half to get from Civitavecchia to Rome. Therefore, looking at shore excursions, you will want to factor in a three-hour round-trip drive time. Many will make a note of it in the description.
Here are a few tips for doing Rome in under 8 hours:
- Consider doing the hop-on, hop-off bus tour . The tour will take you to all the major sites in the city.
- Purchase tickets or skip-the-line passes for any major attraction months in advance if not included in your tour. This includes the Colosseum, the Vatican Museums, the Sistine Chapel, and Saint Peter’s Basilica.
- There is a train that will take travelers from Civitavecchia to Rome.
- If you miss your bus, expect to pay top dollar for a private taxi from Rome to the ship.
- Don’t forget the coins to throw into the Trevi Fountain !
- Historic sites are always best seen with a tour guide. They bring out so many unique features and stories that would have been missed.
- The best restaurants are never around popular tourist attractions. You should not spend $22 for pasta in Rome. Often, if you walk a short distance from the hustle and bustle of the main streets, you will find phenomenal little eateries for a fraction of the cost.
- As will all major cities, watch out for pickpockets , and don’t let a stranger take your family photo. They could easily run off with your phone.
- While Rome is usually very busy, remember that the more ships in port will mean popular attractions will be even more crowded. Three ships in port could mean an additional 10,000 tourists visiting the city during the same hours you are. Try visiting lesser-known attractions such as the Temple of Hercules Victor and Tempio di Portuno.
Day 6-Livorno-Florence/Pisa
Livorno is an hour away from Florence and 45 minutes away from Pisa . Many shore excursions include visits to both Pisa and Florence, while others will whisk travelers off to the Tuscan countryside.
We opted for a budget-friendly transfer through Viator to take us to Florence, Pisa, and back to the ship. The guide on the bus offered an hour-long walking tour of Florence for $10 Euro per adult once we arrived, which was worth every penny.
A Few Tips For Visiting Florence/ Pisa
- While the Leaning Tower Of Pisa is on many bucket lists, you will only want to spend some of your time at Pisa. The “Square of Miracles ” contains the Pisa Cathedral, the baptistery, and the Leaning Tower, all surrounded by a sea of touristy shops and restaurants.
- Guests can go up in the Leaning Tower but must purchase tickets in advance.
- Purchase tickets or skip-the-line passes for any major attraction months in advance if not included in your tour. This includes the Uffizi Gallery, Accademia Gallery, Florence Duomo, and other famous museums.
- Visit the Officina Profumo, which has been in the perfume business since 1221!
- Make a reservation at Osteria Pastella for an incredible meal! Get the Cacio e Pepe.
- Find one of Florence’s wine windows.
- As with most European cities, bring good walking shoes.
Day 7-Cannes, France
The jaw-dropping French Riviera is a desired port of call. The sun-drenched beaches paired with the majestic mountains are captivating. When the city is not abuzz with the Cannes Film Festival , travelers will find themselves strolling the historic Old Town, window shopping along the promenade, before posing on the red carpet at Cannes Palais des Festivals et des Congrè.
Cruise ships must use a tender to bring guests to shore, so ensure you allocate enough time to wait for a tender. Pre-planned shore excursions will utilize the tenders first; then, it will be open boarding for the rest of the guests.
One of the downsides of a Mediterranean Cruise With Royal Caribbean is that there are some ports you only get to spend a little bit of time in. For instance, all aboard was at 2 pm in Cannes. If only having one full day feels rushed, try only a few hours in a city.
Day 8-Barcelona, Spain
Our Mediterranean Cruise With Royal Caribbean came to an end in Barcelona . We opted to stay a few extra days to explore the city, which I highly recommend. Stay at the Renaissance Barcelona Hotel . It is centrally located downtown near the major attractions, restaurants, and shops. The hotel was gorgeous, and the rooftop bar stole the show with sweeping views of the city, including the Sagrada Familia.
We arranged a private transfer to take us from the ship to the hotel and the airport. Barcelona is a very walkable city, but to see some sites, such as Park Guell, you will likely want to take a taxi or do one of the Hop-On, Hop-Off bus tours.
A Few Tips For Visiting Barcelona
- Don’t wait until the last minute to secure tickets for all Gaudi’s sites . We were lucky to be able to book Park Guell and Casa Mila two days before arriving, but the Sagrada Familia was sold out.
- Tapas and pinchos, or “spikes,” are small bites that are a must in Spain.
- The Hop On/ Hop Off Bus is a great way to see the city. However, the loop is roughly 2 hours,, so plan your day accordingly if you have timed tickets.
- In Spain, dinner is a lighter meal, typically eaten between 9 and 10 pm during the week and even later on the weekend.
My Must Have Items For A European Cruise
Take advantage of these must-have items for your next European Cruise .
- A crossbody bag with a zipper. These bags are going to be your first line of defense against pickpockets.
- If visiting during warm weather, investing in a sun umbrella is wise. In July, this was one item we used daily.
- Another must-have during summer months is a portable misting fan .
- Liquid IV is always a great item to keep with you, especially in the summer.
- Many churches require guests to have their shoulders and knees covered to enter. Bring a shawl or sweater.
- Bring a good pair of walking shoes or sneakers.
- One formal night outfit.
- Bring medications , such as Ibuprofen, Pepto, Benadryl, Sudafed, Imodium, etc. Many items on the ship may not be readily available to you or require you to see the ship’s medic to get them. I also recommend bringing a first aid kit .
A Mediterranean Cruise With Royal Caribbean is one of the best cruises to see a lot Europe in a short amount of time. However, if you are traveling with young kids, you may want to take a closer look at Disney Cruise Lines. We had a great experience on Enchantment of The Seas but often wished that there was more to do for kids 5-10 years old.
We are already looking at our next Mediterranean Cruise, hoping to go to the Greek Islands or the Holy Land. Would we sail Royal Caribbean again? Absolutely!

7 night Western Mediterranean Cruise with Royal Caribbean
Last year I did a Mediterranean cruise on The Serenade of the Seas . This year I went back for more doing a 7 night Western Mediterranean Cruise on Royal Caribbean’s Legend of The Seas with friends Laura and Caitlin. Our original plans were to do Sail Croatia but we decided a less boozy cruise visiting more countries was more our style. We left London extremely early, flew to Rome and got on the cruise ship at the cruise terminal at Civitavecchia. I’ve visited Rome a number of times now but it is still one of my favourite cities in the world. If you’re on a cruise ship departing from Rome be aware you are taken straight from the airport to the cruise terminal so should book some time at either end of the cruise to see the city. Royal Caribbean’s Legend of the Seas is one of Royal Caribbean’s Vision Class cruise ships and seemed slightly less luxurious than the Serenade of the Seas, which is a Radiance Class ship. I missed the late night restaurant Sea Breeze Cafe, the half sports court and full theatre (the theatre on The Legend of the Seas had more of a lounge feel). They did make full use of the Centrium on this ship though and the aerial displays were a highlight of the on board entertainment.
The first stop on our Western Mediterranean Cruise was Genoa in Italy, home of the largest aquarium in Europe which at 23 Euros for an adult is pretty expensive to visit. As well as the standard fish, dolphins and manatees there was a tank which contained the cast of Finding Nemo ! We spent the rest of the day wandering around the city looking at points of interest – the standard palace, cathedral and square seen in most European cities. As well as the old gate to the city. Spending a day in Genoa was a good first stop – it’s a good walkable city from the port and easily able to be seen in a day.
The next day we woke up in Marseille, France. Rather than paying US $10 each for the return transfer bus to town offered by the cruise company, we paid US $25 for the three of us for a taxi all the way up to the cathedral to enjoy the below view.
We walked down to the old port where we soaked up the atmosphere while drinking local wine, before browsing the markets and getting a taxi back to ship. This taxi driver had no English so I was very thankful for my (rather limited) French language skills.
Next up on our Royal Caribbean Western Mediterranean Cruise we had the highlight of the trip – Barcelona, Spain. We went on Bus Turistic’s hop on hop off bus which as 24 Euros per person with a discount voucher Caitlin and Laura had from using the service in Madrid. A saving of 2 Euros each.
From the bus we saw and got an audio tour of the Olympic villages, stadium and aquatic centre, the football stadium, gothic buildings, parks, museums, main streets and more. We also walked through Plaça de Catalunya when we needed to change buses.
The bus also enabled us to visit The Sagrada Familia . The queue went around the block but it only took us around 40 minutes to get in. In hind sight I’d recommend booking online before you visit so you can skip the queue but it was amazing and well worth queuing for. If you only have one day in Barcelona you absolutely have to go there.
I loved Barcelona – it seemed like a very livable city (aside from the fact I learnt French and not Spanish!) with parks, beaches, beautiful buildings and the Olympic Stadium.
Palma De Mallorca
Our second to last stop was Palma De Mallorca where again we caught a taxi from the port up to a castle at the top of a hill for a vantage point. The taxi was 12 Euros and we then walked down the hill and across town to see the La Seu Cathedral.
When we were ready to collapse from too much walking we ordered Sangria, pretty much sold on the novelty straw thing the restaurant we walked past had going on.
Finally our Royal Caribbean Legend of the Seas cruise reached Valencia. At this point the weather had packed in slightly we were sick of castles and cathedrals so we spent the day shopping in outlet stores, eating Paella and drinking Sangria. It was still a nice city to visit though and I wish I’d had another day to explore it properly.
The local bus cost only 1.5 Euros each way into town compared to the US $12 the cruise company was charging for a return transfer.I really wanted to eat churro’s but could not find them anywhere. Later a fellow cruise passenger told us they had discovered they are only sold during winter. Leaving the cruise pretty much sucked. Give me 24/7 free wifi and an unlimited source of cash and I’d be happy to live on a cruise ship going from port to port for the foreseeable future. Cruising is an incredibly easy way to travel – the food is AMAZING (four course dinners every night and pretty much 24 hour food availability), you are kept as entertained as you want to be and every morning you wake up in a hotel room with a new city to explore without feeling the travel.
Have you ever been on a cruise? What do you think of this 7 night Western Mediterranean Cruise itinerary?

Cruise Review: Royal Caribbean’s 7-night Western Mediterranean cruise
Richard jones enjoys a week of family fun aboard the symphony of the seas..
Words by Richard Jones
I was about to tuck into my main course in the fine dining restaurant when I spotted something out of the window. We were on the move, and the picturesque European city scape which had been our backdrop all afternoon had been superseded by rolling blue waves.
For a second, I had forgotten that I was in the middle of the Mediterranean Sea, along with thousands of other guests, on board Royal Caribbean’s Symphony of the Seas. If you’re not a regular cruiser – it had been a decade since my wife Rachel and our two daughters Isla and Evelyn last set foot on a ship like this – or even a first-timer, it can blow your mind.
Just how does the captain and crew of this enormous floating paradise navigate it from one port to another?
Our seven-day Mediterranean cruise began in Barcelona and, immediately after embarkation, it became clear that we wouldn’t struggle to find things to do on Symphony of the Seas. The second biggest cruise ship in the world, it has seven neighbourhoods – the Pool and Sports Zone, Central Park, Boardwalk, Royal Promenade, Vitality Spa and Fitness Centre, Entertainment Zone and Youth Zone.
We spent most of the hot summer afternoon days by the pools, where the kids had a ball on the Perfect Storm slides, while Rachel sunbathed and I spent a little too much time in the hot tubs, with a cocktail in hand.
There is also a mini golf course on the top deck, as well as two Wave Rider surfing simulators and the 10-storey Ultimate Abyss slide.
While the girls called at the gym on a couple of the mornings, I went for a few pre-breakfast jogs on the track which runs around the circumference of deck 5. Although the outside of a ship may not sound like the most interesting of settings for a run or a walk, getting 360-degree views of the ports as we docked in the mornings was a riveting watch.
It’s in the food and beverage departments that Symphony of the Seas really excels. Around 2,200 crew cater for 6,600 guests’ needs, and although I had assumed the service would be good, it was, hand on heart, the best I ever experienced, on sea or land.
For breakfast and lunch, the Windjammer is the ship’s most popular choice, with the all-inclusive marketplace buffet serving up enough food to feed a large town. In the evenings, we headed to our assigned main dining room table, where we were welcomed by jovial server duo Rakesh and Zurisadai, and head waiter Stylian who made sure that Isla’s gluten-free requirements were catered for.
As well as a generous selection of other all-inclusive eateries, including Cafe Promenade, Dog House and Sorrento’s, cruisers wanting an extra treat should try out the speciality restaurants, including Jamie’s Italian, Chops Grille and Izumi Hibachi and Sushi.
We were also spoilt for choice when it came to bars. Although the deluxe drinks package entitling you to unlimited cocktails, wine and beers all cruise long can seem pricey ($56 to $105 per person per day), it actually represents great value. Rachel and I used ours in the Latin-themed Baleros, karaoke bar On Air, Bionic Bar, with its robot servers, sports pub Playmakers, and our ‘local’, the nautical-themed Schooner Bar.
There are a number of after-dark events on the ship. We took a seat at the Aqua Theatre for the spectacular acrobatic diving show Hiro and watched the production of musical Hairspray.
If you need pointers on what clothes to pack for a Royal Caribbean cruise, they suggest dress codes for each night, with sailors encouraged to wear their best white, Caribbean, formal or glamorous outfits. It is all optional, of course, but seeing 9,000 guests and staff get into the spirit is some sight – and it also doesn’t hurt when the professional photographers get their cameras out.
Despite being plenty to do on the enormous ship, we were, after all, on a cruise, so sampling some European culture was a must. From Barcelona, our first port of call was Palma de Majorca, and after disembarking, we took a stroll around the harbour in the commercial and naval port of Porto Pi.
The next day, we arrived in our only French stop during the week – Marseille. Most cruise guests opt to explore the Old Port in the Provence-Alpes-Côte d’Azur region’s bustling capital, while for those feeling more adventurous, Marseille is also a gateway to the city of Aix-en-Provence and Calanques National Park.
We arrived in Italy on our third morning, and although there are some nice walks around La Spezia in Liguria, you are missing out if you don’t head into Pisa, Florence or the Cinque Terre. Similarly, our next stop, Civitavecchia is also a lovely coastal town, with its iconic statue Unconditional Surrender on the boardwalk.
We got up nice and early and headed to its railway station to board a train to Rome. Costing just £8 per person, and taking an hour, we got off in the centre of the Eternal City and took in the world-famous Colosseum, Roman Forum and Trevi Fountain.
The final stop on the cruise was the city of Naples. Although Diego Maradona’s adopted city sometimes gets a bad rep, we found walking up its main shopping street Via Toledo and into the stunning Galleria Umberto I to be safe and friendly. Oh, and they have the best pizza in the world – no argument.
Although, there is so much to do on shore in Spain, France and Italy, the highlight of our cruise holiday was our time on the ship. As the week wore on, the floating resort reminded me more and more of a large luxury hotel in the Caribbean or even Las Vegas – there is a sizeable casino on board, after all.
Our favourite night was taking part in the silent disco on the Boardwalk. In between the singing and dancing, I took a moment to remove my headphones and look around. Apart from a few guests, including Evelyn, who got carried away singing out loud rather than lip syncing, there was a strange silence, and not witnessing much ‘motion from the ocean’, I still found it difficult to comprehend that we were making our way across the Med at a rate of knots.
In a nutshell
Everything about this particular Symphony is pitch perfect, and a voyage on board the super ship may just change your tune about cruising.
Royal Caribbean International is offering Mediterranean cruise itineraries on Symphony of the Seas this autumn from £1,005pp. Price based on a seven-night Western Mediterranean Cruise from Barcelona, Spain, departing October 22, 2023, for two people sharing an interior stateroom (price subject to change). 9 Best Culinary Cruises for the Most Delicious Trip You’ll Ever Take
The best culinary cruises to book in 2024.
F or many, food is the best part of travel—and I can relate. I've taken cruises all over the world, and they've led to many culinary firsts for me: My first-ever lobster was on a Caribbean cruise when I was just a teenager, my first bite of reindeer came in a cozy bowl of chili during an Alaskan cruise, and my first (and last!) time eating escargot happened on a cruise in the Mediterranean. While these dishes were all parts of the all-inclusive menus on my cruises, I decided to kick things up a notch on the foodie scale by hopping on board the growing trend of special culinary cruises, which feature food and wine in a variety of special ways. These days, you’ll find the best cruises partnering with celebrity chefs, featuring specialty-dining venues and offering excursions filled with meals you’ll dream about long after you return home.
"I helped start the first culinary-themed cruises in the early '90s when I began noticing interest, and today this concept is more popular than ever," says Executive Chef Rudi Sodamin, head of culinary arts on Princess Cruises and Master Chef for the Holland America Line. "Experiential food and beverage experiences are often some of our most popular activities on board. It is my goal to surprise and delight guests while also educating them and meeting their every gastronomical desire."
Getting hungry yet? We’ve rounded up the best themed cruises for every type of foodie—from seafood lovers and wine aficionados to fans of French, Italian and Spanish cuisine. I’ve been on my fair share of these cruises, including a recent one to the Mediterranean, and trust me when I say these trips may just become your favorites of all time .

Best for Napa Valley wine pairings
Princess 7-day pacific wine country cruise.
If you love Napa by land , you'll love it even more by sea, and it's now an experience you can have on any Princess Cruises ship sailing North American itineraries. In spring 2023, the cruise line partnered with Wagner Family Vineyards (the producers of Caymus wines), a leader in Napa Valley cabernet, for its five-course Caymus Vineyards Winemaker Dinner. Held two or three times per cruise, it features a dinner for up to 12 guests that could very well be the highlight of their entire vacation. On a recent sailing, which started in Vancouver, British Columbia, and wended its way through San Francisco and Los Angeles, the food was fresh and sophisticated—and tailored to guests’ dietary preferences as needed.
The Winemaker Dinner menu consisted of an amuse-bouche (beef carpaccio or marinated fresh oyster mushrooms), a first course (fresh summer black truffle risotto with 36-month-aged Parmigiano Reggiano), main course (prime beef tenderloin with blossom artichokes or seared king salmon with giant prawn), cheese course and dessert (a beautiful chocolate raspberry creation). Oh, and each course was perfectly paired with the appropriate Wagner wine—including cabernet sauvignon, pinot noir and sparkling wine—hand-selected by Chuck Wagner, the owner and winemaker of Caymus Vineyards.
It takes a talented team to pull off an epic meal like that as well as the other offerings on board. "At Princess, we have such a diverse group of chefs, which is a huge benefit to us, as we are able to use their expertise to introduce authentic flavors from all over the world," says Sodamin. "I present food as art—to be created with passion and served with love."
- The food is specifically crafted to complement the tasting notes of the wines.
- Wagner Family Vineyard wines are available at all restaurants on the ship.
- Some Princess Cruise itineraries offer memorable shore excursions to Sonoma wine country.
- There's an additional cost of $140 per person for this experience and a slight upcharge for all Wagner wines at any meal on the ship.

Best for satisfying any appetite
Royal caribbean icon of the seas cruises.
Can you even imagine a single ship holding 40 different dining and drink venues? That's just one of the many impressive things that the world's largest cruise ship, Icon of the Seas , has to offer. No matter what flavors you're craving—we're talking pizza by the slice, sushi, caviar, oysters, burgers and tacos—you can find it on board.
Royal Caribbean is introducing several firsts on this ship, including the Empire Supper Club, an eight-course journey of traditional American fare (think: Wagyu New York strip steak topped with fresh-shaved truffle) that's perfectly paired with live jazz music. Other newcomers are the AquaDome Market, the line's first food hall with five dining options; a milkshake bar called Desserted; and the Celebration Table, a private 12-seat dining experience with family-style service perfect for commemorating a milestone. In the evenings, grab a cocktail at Dueling Pianos (a first of its kind in the fleet, with battling baby grands), a glass of prosecco at the new walk-up champagne bar Bubbles or a pint at English pub Point & Feather.
- This ship sails the Eastern and Western Caribbean, so some excursions will offer rum tastings, Caribbean food tours and lunches the local way.
- Each cruise stops at Perfect Day at CocoCay, the cruise line's private island, which offers a slew of restaurants (most of which are complimentary) and bars (if you've purchased a specialty beverage package for your cruise, it will apply here too).
- You'll also find Royal Caribbean restaurant staples on board, including Sorrento's Pizza, Sprinkles ice cream, Chops Grille and Giovanni's Italian Kitchen & Wine Bar.
- You'll have to pay extra for certain dining venues, as well as all alcoholic drinks and specialty coffees.
- It's more expensive than most Royal Caribbean cruises because it's a brand-new ship.
Best for sushi with a celebrity chef
Crystal 14-night cruise from athens to rome.
Crystal is already known for its high-end and award-winning culinary experiences—and now it's brought one of the most legendary chefs in the world on board. Behold Umi Uma, a restaurant created by Master Chef Nobuyuki (Nobu) Matsuhisa for Crystal's Serenity and Symphony ships. This innovative Japanese-Peruvian fusion cuisine features delectable dishes like a crispy rice cake with spicy tuna tartare, Nobu-style lobster tacos, grilled Australian Wagyu beef fillet steak and Nobu-style black cod. Or choose the Sushi with Connoisseur, which features various sushi, sashimi and rolls.
Certain itineraries—for instance, the Athens to Rome Mediterranean cruise —make foodie excursions a priority, with a tasty street food tour of Izmir, a cooking class in Mykonos, olive oil tastings in Crete, a pizza tasting in Naples and wine tastings in Turkey. Between the onboard offerings and seaside activities, this is truly one of the most well-rounded culinary cruises.
- Two complimentary reservations for two people on voyages 12 to 22 days in length, and unlimited free visits for guests staying in Crystal Penthouse or Junior Crystal Penthouse Suites.
- There are 11 distinct dining options on board, including 24-hour in-suite dining service.
- There's nearly one staff member per guest, and the crew will know you by name.
- Reservations above the complimentary allotment are $50 per person.
- It has a higher price point than some other cruises on this list.
Best for Mediterranean excursions
Viking iconic western mediterranean cruise.
Some people take cruises for the at-sea experience; others use it as a mode of transportation to get where they want to go. While every minute on board a Viking ship is spectacular, the real magic happens off the ship on this Western Mediterranean itinerary through Spain, France, Monaco and Italy. Because the Viking Saturn is a small ship (930 guests), it can dock overnight in some ports, which means you can enjoy authentic dinners and nightcaps in town.
On this particular cruise, you'll have that experience in Barcelona (paella and a flamenco show, anyone?) and again in Florence (you're in the famous Tuscan wine region, so have a glass or two of Chianti with your pasta). Shore excursions include cooking in a Tuscan castle, dinner at a Michelin-starred restaurant, food and wine trails through Tuscany, and "The Kitchen Table," where you'll join the ship's executive chef for a tour and shopping experience through the local market (you'll gather the ingredients that the chef will prepare for you back on board).
- Beer, wine and soft drinks are included with lunch and dinner; plus, you have access to complimentary 24/7 room service.
- Onboard dining options include regional cuisine and locally sourced ingredients, as well as food-and-wine pairings at The Chef's Table specialty restaurant.
- You get one complimentary shore excursion in every port of call.
- It's pricey, but a lot is included in the rate.
Best for Michelin-starred dining
Celebrity 7-night spain, france and italy cruise.
Great meals and wine are a part of any Celebrity sailing—it was voted best cruise line for food and dining by Cruiseline's Member Choice Awards in 2022 and holds an Award of Excellence from Wine Spectator for 2023. Each ship has myriad complimentary dining venues inspired by global and regional flavors, alongside specialty restaurants ranging from seafood and oyster bars to Paris-style bistros. And at the helm sits Celebrity's Global Culinary Ambassador, Chef Daniel Boulud, who holds many culinary accolades from the James Beard Foundation, as well as multiple Michelin stars.
His onboard restaurant, Le Voyage by Daniel Boulud, features a menu that gives guests a taste of the places that have inspired him around the world, such as 5-Spice Duck Pithivier, Brazilian Moqueca and Risotto au Homard. He has also designed signature dishes for Luminae, the cruise line's private dining experience included for all guests of The Retreat. (Guests who book these suites have access to premium amenities, such as free drinks and Wi-Fi and access to a private sundeck and lounge.)
- Celebrity Ascent is the fleet's brand-new ship (it debuted Dec. 3, 2023), and it's the most innovative in the Edge series.
- There are 32 distinctive restaurants, bars and lounges on board—including 14 cafes/bars/lounges, eight specialty restaurants, four main dining restaurants, four complimentary casual dining venues and two exclusive restaurants.
- This itinerary hits some of the most fantastic foodie cities in Europe: Barcelona and Valencia, Spain; Nice, France; and Portofino, Florence and Rome, Italy .
- A cover charge applies for dinner at Le Voyage.
Best for vegan food
Carnival cruises.
Calling all plant-based diners who love to cruise: A new vegan menu is currently available on Carnival Freedom in Port Canaveral, Florida, and Car nival Horizon in Port Miami—and will soon be implemented fleet-wide in a phased approach. Carnival chefs created recipes for each of their dishes to be prepared without the use of animal products, and the proteins included are made from meat substitutes. Look for tempting options such as Hawaiian Salmon Poke made with plant-based salmon, Spaghetti Carbonara with vegan bacon, Grilled Tofu Steak, and Eggplant Cutlet a la Parmigiana. For dessert, try the Cappuccino Pot de Crème or Key Lime Velvet Cake. Off the ship, the Caribbean is no stranger to plant-based foods, from rice and beans to perfectly ripe tropical fruits, so you'll have plenty of options there too.
- One of the most affordable cruise lines , with four-day Bahamas cruises starting under $250 per person.
- Meat eaters shouldn't miss celebrity chef Guy Fieri's mouthwatering burgers at Guy's Burger Joint.
- Adult beverages can be found on the Lido Deck at RedFrog Rum Bar and BlueIguana Tequila Bar.
- The vibe tends to be rowdier on Carnival cruises.
About the expert
- Executive Chef Rudi Sodamin is the head of culinary arts on Princess Cruises and Master Chef for Holland America Line.
