Character Info [ ]

Young sheldon [ ].

Missy is a main character. She is portrayed as a bratty, snarky, cynical 9-year-old who fights with Sheldon for attention from their parents. This pushes her and Georgie closer together, whether it's helping each other with homework or trading favors. She and Sheldon shared a bedroom. However, she is shown to have a high EQ and comforts her brother often when she sees that he is feeling down. He does the same for her.

Unlike Sheldon, Missy displayed little to no interest or aptitude in schoolwork, especially math, because she found it challenging. She watched TV the whole time she was home such as ALF, DuckTales, and Looney Tunes while ignoring her homework. The fact that she chose not to prioritize studying could foreshadow her ultimately having to work as a Fuddrucker's hostess for a living while both her brothers achieved middle to upper-class standing as a physicist (Sheldon) and tire entrepreneur (George Jr.).

Missy has a sweet tooth for candy. Her parents spoiled her on a daily basis by buying her sweets and letting her watch TV all day long, but she is incredibly clever like her brothers when she wants to get her way. The methods she uses often provides comic relief.

Missy is first mentioned in " Pilot " (S01E1). When Sheldon and Leonard are at the sperm bank, Sheldon mentions that Missy works as a hostess at Fuddruckers.

Missy first appeared in " The Porkchop Indeterminacy " (S01E15). When Leonard , Howard , and Raj find out Sheldon has a sister and that she is quite attractive, they fall over each other trying to get her attention. Raj is inspired to begin taking an experimental medication to overcome his pathological shyness. Missy is convinced to stay over with Sheldon and Leonard. Sheldon does everything in his power to ignore and avoid talking to Missy, neglecting to do anything about her being stalked and made uncomfortable by his colleagues.

Missy Cooper

Missy used to win fights by kicking Sheldon in his crotch.

When Sheldon states that he'll decide who Missy dates, she asks to speak with him privately. Sheldon reveals to Missy that she has the potential to produce a second Sheldon, even a second Sheldon that is, "taller, smarter, and less prone to freckling, a Sheldon 2.0, if you will"). Missy tells him that she is fine with him acting like a brother who cares about her, but if he tries to tell her who to sleep with, they are gonna go "round and round" like they did when they were children. This flies over Sheldon's head and he suggests Missy donate her eggs and cryogenically store them until he finds the right sperm donor to fertilize them before implanting them into her body. By this act, he suggests, "everybody wins". Missy then begins painfully squeezing her brother's testicles until he withdraws the statements.

Missy finds more of an ally with Penny , who has become slightly immune to the quartet's geekiness, as well as helping Missy extricate herself from them and lets Missy hang out in her apartment . Leonard, Howard, and Raj all knock on Penny's door to ask Missy out, but they fail in the end. When Raj goes to ask her out, she says that she was waiting for him to show up and calls him a "cutie-pie", but Raj's medication starts wearing off so he is unable to talk to her and leaves looking sad.

Before she leaves, Missy tells Sheldon that she is proud and reveals that she brags to her friends about her brother "the rocket scientist", which sparks him to correct her that he's a theoretical physicist , noting the difference. After she leaves, Sheldon mutters back to his apartment saying that being a rocket scientist is beneath him.

Sheldon mentions her in " The Jiminy Conjecture " (S3E02), when Howard, Sheldon, and Raj are trying to capture Toby/Jiminy and distinctly hear cricket chirping down the apartment building's elevator shaft. As tensions rise, Howard threatens Sheldon with, "Don't push me, Sheldon. I may be small, but I took Kung Fu when I was 13, and I remember a good deal of it," Sheldon responds with, "Oh really? Well, I grew up with an older brother and a very contentious twin sister and I believe I could easily best you in any physical confrontation, be it noogies, swirlies, or the classic 'Why are you hitting yourself?'"

Sheldon's family pedigree, depicted briefly in " The Cruciferous Vegetable Amplification " (S4E02), shows an older brother as well as his twin sister.

In " The Cooper Extraction " (S07E11), Missy is about to give birth to a baby in Texas . Since her husband is recovering from a terrible motorcycle accident, Sheldon has to go back to look after her. She does not appear on screen in this episode, only a scream as she gives birth is all that is heard from Missy.

In " The Fortification Implementation " (S8E20), Sheldon tells Amy that his brother and sister built forts in the living room and wouldn't let Sheldon in, which he hated so much.

In " The Maternal Combustion " (S8E23), Sheldon tells Leonard's mother Beverly that his brother and sister are mouth breathing idiots.

In " The Matrimonial Momentum " (S9E01), Mary Cooper mentions that since Missy is married and their brother is dating a "whore", she wants Sheldon to keep her grandmother's ring which she gave Sheldon for Amy.

In " The Meemaw Materialization " (S9E14), Sheldon reveals that he got an iPhone for Meemaw Constance as a Christmas present but she is completely unaware of it. He had Missy slip it inside Meemaw's luggage when she flew in from Texas so Sheldon could keep track of her location.

In " The Celebration Experimentation " (S9E17), Sheldon says that Missy and her friends used to torture him on their birthday and on their 6th, tricked him into believing that Batman was coming. This led to Sheldon hating his birthday and he therefore kept it a secret until " The Intimacy Acceleration ".

In " The Sibling Realignment ", according to George after their father died, their mother was a mess and Missy was no help because she was just a "dumb teenager".

In " The Bow Tie Asymmetry ", Missy attends the wedding of her twin brother appearing physically for the first time in a decade. She is currently pregnant and separated from her husband. She is happy about the separation, but not thrilled about the baby. Amy tells her how happy she is to finally have a sister.

In " The Change Constant ", she texted congratulations to Sheldon and Amy for winning the Nobel Prize in Physics.

In " The Stockholm Syndrome ", in Sheldon's speech he thanked his family for all their support which included Missy.

  • Father: George Cooper Sr.
  • Mother: Mary Cooper
  • Brother: George Cooper Jr.
  • Twin Brother: Sheldon Cooper
  • Grandmother: Meemaw
  • Grandfather: Pop-Pop
  • Uncles: Carl , Edward , Uncle Roger ; There is another uncle who gave children gifts like Santa and was not arrested in Oklahoma for his actions.
  • Aunt: Aunt Ruth
  • Husband: Unnamed (currently separated)
  • Son: Unnamed
  • Son/Daughter: Unborn (as of " The Bow Tie Asymmetry ")
  • Son/Daughter: Unnamed (Mentioned in the Young Sheldon episode "A Baby Tooth and the Egyptian God of Knowledge") (uncorfirmed)
  • Son/Daughter: Unnamed (Mentioned in the Young Sheldon episode "A Baby Tooth and the Egyptian God of Knowledge") (unconfirmed)
  • She calls Sheldon by his nickname, "Shelly", as does their mother .
  • This would appear to create a continuity error, as Young Sheldon shows that Sheldon and Missy shared a bedroom, however, this was only until season 5, episode 4 "Pish Posh and a Secret Back Room" when they got their own rooms, so it could have taken place still.
  • Despite their differences, Missy is very proud of Sheldon and his accomplishments, and tells people Sheldon is a "rocket scientist", which he feels deeply offended by because he is a theoretical physicist , which he views as much more prestigious and tells her that she might as well tell people that he is a toll collector at the Golden Gate Bridge.
  • When Leonard offered Missy to stay with them, she reveals that Sheldon does not like company and he used to send his imaginary friends home at the end of the day when he was a child: he denies it, saying that they were "imaginary colleagues".
  • She once had a dog who made strange noises, which she later had put down.
  • It's revealed in the Pilot that she is a hostess at Fuddruckers when Sheldon is expressing concern of "committing genetic fraud" about donating sperm at a high-IQ sperm bank ("I have a sister who has the same basic DNA mix who hostesses at Fuddruckers.")
  • Incidentally, Melissa is the first name of the actress who plays Bernadette , Melissa Rauch .
  • Her mother dismisses her as "dumb as soup" in " The Luminous Fish Effect ": though she is likely nowhere near as intelligent as her brother, she seems witty, presentable, and funny. Her oldest brother even stated he took care of Mary and Missy while Sheldon was in college, describing Missy as a dumb teenager. Though Sheldon also mentioned in " The Cooper Extraction ", it took Missy six years to graduate from high school, implying her mother's comment about her intelligence isn't wholly inaccurate. Missy graduated high school when she was 19 or 20 years old. That would be the year 2000 or 2001.
  • However, in fairness, she is the most attractive and socially adept of the trio. Also, since she worked as a waitress over a decade ago, there is a possibility she could have gone forward with her life like Penny did, who was also a waitress who became a pharmaceutical sales rep using her good looks and social skills.
  • She was also the first to have children before Sheldon and Amy had at least two after their marriage.
  • When she first meets the gang at Caltech , she tells them that she spent nine months with her legs wrapped around Sheldon's head.
  • She used to obligate Sheldon to do whatever she wants by squeezing his testicles. As an adult, she still does it, but now when she gets mad at him when he suggests some absurd ideas, and if he is acting ridiculously stubborn.
  • Sheldon considers her, with his help in choosing a proper and approved-by-him mate, the future mother of a "Sheldon 2.0". As he considers himself to be a "superior genetic mutation", and with Missy being his twin sister (though still also "mediocre stock"), her DNA has great potential in producing a new version of her brother, likely even superior to him. She, however, doesn't see it that way.
  • She does recognize that "Mediocre stock" is an insult.
  • She is taller than Leonard, Penny , Raj and Howard , like her brother.
  • In one episode, Sheldon mentions that she had a guinea pig called Snowball, who ended up bursting into flames when Sheldon put him in a home-made CAT scanner.
  • Her husband's name and her son's name are both unknown.
  • Missy is the younger twin, confirmed in Young Sheldon.
  • She finally reappeared in the season 11 finale , at Sheldon and Amy's Wedding . This was her only physical appearance of her and her actress Courtney Henggeler in a decade.
  • As shown by her sarcastic reply upon being congratulated her second child, she isn't quite thrilled about her second pregnancy.
  • Raj is shown to be delighted upon hearing Missy's separation from her husband. With him having conquered his selective mutism and experience in dating and now with Missy single, there is an indication that a possible romance may start between them. She did show interest in Raj in season 1, though this was a decade prior.
  • In " A Baby Tooth and the Egyptian God of Knowledge ", it's stated that Missy ultimately ended up having a total of four children. But it was never confirmed.
  • Missy had the greatest break between physical appearances on the show with a ten-year gap for fictional characters. Ramona Nowitzki was second with a nine-year gap between appearances. Leslie Winkle has a six-year gap between appearances. Penny's father Wyatt had a five-year gap between appearances. Real-life scientist George Smoot had a ten-year gap between appearances. However, this might be debatable since she was heard once in the Season 7 episode " The Cooper Extraction " screaming since she was in labor and preparing to give birth to her son, which means that she had a 5 year-gap between her appearance in Season 1 and the Season 7 episode and a 4-5 year gap between the Season 7 episode and her second physical appearance in the Season 11 finale " The Bow Tie Asymmetry ".
  • There was no appearance or mention of Missy's second child, so whether it's a boy or girl remains a mystery.
  • It is unknown what relationship she has with Sheldon's kids (her nieces and nephews).
  • It is unknown what her and Mary relationship was like after Sheldon left for California for graduate school, Georgie moving out and begin his tire empire and her father death. After all three of them were out of the house and it was just her and Mary and continuing having an estranged relationship.

What Happened To The Actress Who Played Sheldon's Sister On Big Bang Theory?

The Big Bang Theory had plenty of guest stars and short-term cast members, but what happened to Sheldon's sister, Missy Cooper?

  • Courtney Henggeler, known for playing Missy Cooper on The Big Bang Theory , has continued acting in various TV series and films.
  • In the decade between her two Big Bang Theory episodes, Henggeler worked on several TV shows and movies, expanding her resume.
  • Henggeler has recently appeared in The Boys in the Boat and continues to act, also juggling being a married mom of two.

For fans, there is nothing more fun than binge-watching old episodes of The Big Bang Theory and looking for plot holes, enjoying familiar jokes, and analyzing the cast's every move, line and behavior.

In short, The Big Bang Theory is ingrained in many viewers' psyches, and that means plenty of speculation about where the show went, where it could have gone, and what the heck happened to some of the actors afterward.

Everyone knows that Jim Parsons wound up narrating Young Sheldon , and though he admitted he is done with TV , he is probably keeping busy in other ways with the millions he has made. Kaley Cuoco has gone on to star in plenty of other projects, including her hit TV series The Flight Attendant . Melissa Rauch has gotten involved in several other industry endeavors, too. Among her latest is her leading role on Night Court .

But beyond the big names, what happened to the actors behind minor characters, like the actress who played Missy Cooper on The Big Bang Theory ?

Young Sheldon Finally Makes One Major Georgie Connection To Big Bang Theory In Season 7

Updated April 2024: In the last few years, Courtney Henggeler has devoted herself to her starring role as Amanda LaRusso in 'Cobra Kai'. The sixth and final season is set to air in 2024, but a date has yet to be determined. Additionally, Henggeler appeared in "The Boys in the Boat" at the end of 2023.

Much to fans' dismay, Missy Cooper, Sheldon's twin sister, was only shown in two episodes of Big Bang Theory . While Young Sheldon features Missy heavily (young Missy is played by Raegan Revord), fans sometimes feel like the show left a major plot hole open with Sheldon's sister's storyline. She dropped in, dropped out, and left fans wanting lots more Cooper sibling action.

As for Missy herself, IMDb credits Courtney Henggeler as Sheldon's sister for those two episodes; one in 2008 and another a full ten years later. She made appearances in the episodes "The Bow Tie Asymmetry" and "The Pork Chop Indeterminacy."

But what was Courtney doing for the decade in between, and what is she up to now?

Additionally, Henggeler has enjoyed a long run on the hit spin-off series Cobra Kai, which is set to air its sixth and last season in 2024.

Where Is Courtney Henggeler Now?

Courtney henggeler is still acting today, most recently being seen in the boys in the boat and cobra kai.

In 2020, a film came out with Henggeler's name all over it: she wrote and helped produce The Secret Life of a Celebrity Surrogate , a thriller that earned some accolades despite its mostly lesser-known cast.

Most recently, Henggeler had a role in The Boys in the Boat, which premiered on December 25, 2023.

Henggeler is also a married mom of two. She wed Ross Kohn in 2015, and the pair share a son and daughter. Her daughter, Georgie Healy Kohn, was born in March 2019, and her son, Oscar Noah Kohn, is two years older, born in January 2017.

Kaley Cuoco in The Flight Attendant

Kaley Cuoco's First Series After Big Bang Theory Was Never Supposed To Have A Second Season

While she may no longer be known as Missy Cooper (since now the role is known to be Raegan Revord's role), fans can still appreciate Courtney's sense of humor and clear talent on any size screen she may appear on. And with the way her career has gone so far, viewers can expect to see the talented actress in many more projects in the coming years.

Preparing to Say Goodbye – “Young Sheldon” Cast and Creators Discuss Wrapping Things Up This Season (Plus Photos from the Set)

“There are certain things that we know happened in Sheldon's life when he's 14, as the character is this season, and we started talking about the future of the show and what it would look like,” Young Sheldon  executive producer Steve Holland said about why the hit CBS  sitcom is ending with its seventh season, which premieres tonight at 8/7c. The series has been broadcast TV’s number-one comedy since The Big Bang Theory  wrapped up in 2019, a series that not only gave birth to Young Sheldon  but also created confines within the series must adhere to. “We know he goes off to Caltech at 14. It just felt like the right time to end the show, and to end it strong, and while it was still on top.”

The Coopers opened up their home to TCA  members for a set visit, which included a press conference about the journey thus far. “In the first season, and in the first few episodes especially, Mr. Jim [Parsons] worked really heavily with me on the way Sheldon talks and walks and speaks,” Iain Armitage reflected about taking on this role at the age of 8. “ Big Bang  is certainly not aimed at how old I was at the time. I hadn't seen a lot of episodes. I didn’t really know what it was about. And it was, looking back, such a cool experience but at the time, I didn’t even understand and get how cool it was getting to learn from Sheldon himself how to be Sheldon. Since then, I've seen episodes of Big Bang  and appreciate how wonderful they are and how much awesome work went into them. I think there are small things that I naturally start to incorporate but I think it's kind of a fun blend of me and what I've learned from Jim Parsons and from Sheldon himself.”

Raegan Revord, who plays Sheldon’s twin sister Missy, reflected on growing up on this set. “I've been on the show since I was nine,” she shared about entering this bittersweet final season. “I watched a video the other day that I sent to Iain whenever we started the show, and I was in a car seat. And I'm now learning how to drive. That is wild. But I feel like having the knowledge that this is the last [season] makes it even easier to cherish and be able to hold onto those moments and be grateful for them.”

Diehard fans of The Big Bang Theory  learned a lot about Sheldon Cooper through comedic exposition about his past, but Young Sheldon  set out to be its own thing. “We were always given a lot of liberty by [the creators] to figure out where we lived in the beginning of this story because the characters would eventually develop into different versions of themselves,” shared Zoe Perry, who plays Mary Cooper, the religious mother of the family. “We had a lot of leeway to just follow these scripts and not feel particularly tied to what came after.”

One of the things that Big Bang  fans know will happen sometime in the future is the loss of Sheldon’s father George, played by Lance Barber. “I had fingers crossed from the beginning, knowing the history of the character, that I would make it to the end whenever that came,” Barber explained. “I always felt I had the luxury of being emotionally prepared for this from day one. We knew the history of George.” Regardless of George’s fate, Lance has always felt like his character was in good hands. “I knew that when and if it did come, it would be done in a beautiful way, and I anticipate that's what's going to happen.”

A pleasant surprise out of Young Sheldon  came the softening of Georgie, the bully-ish older brother of Sheldon Cooper. “I think he's realized that he's had to step up a little bit and had to grow up a whole lot,” Montana Jordan said of his character, who became a father at a young age on the show. “I'm happy to see him actually step up and do what he needs to do in order to be a good dad.”

“I was offered just one episode on "Young Sheldon" season five,” recalled Emily Osment, who plays Georgie’s fiancé Mandy and the mother of his child. “I am so grateful to see the arc of Mandy becoming such a staunch feminist, standing up for herself, not wanting to take the Cooper name, wanting to be her own person, not forcing Georgie to get married right away, just wanting to not lose her career, wanting to be herself, and also raise her baby. And I think that was just written so well. I'm very grateful to have joined this cast. I mean, everyone in Hollywood will tell you this is the place you want to be. This is the place you want to work. These are the people you want to work with.”

sheldon's sister visits

Season 6 left the Cooper family in the aftermath of a tornado, one that destroyed Meemaw’s house. “It surprised me that I was so affected by it,” revealed Annie Potts. Her iconic TV house was once occupied by The Partridge Family , and the real structure was demolished during a project to redevelop the land for other uses. “I've been working off and on over there for 50 years… When I went to see it, it was like, oh, my God, it really got me.” Potts shared that it’s still surreal to drive by it on her way to and from the Warner Bros. lot where the show is filmed. “It's like a lot of history gone under there.”

There’s a lot of pressure on the producers to deliver an ending that serves the show justice and also sets Sheldon up for the future fans have seen play out on The Big Bang Theory . “I don't think you ever approach it from what the audience wants,” executive producer Chuck Lorre said. “I think that's a level of hubris that gets in the way of doing a good job. You do what feels right. You do what feels appropriate for the characters and the relationships, the tone of the show. You do stuff that touches yourself, and then you hope someone agrees with you. And I don't know any other way to do it.”

Screen Rant

Where young sheldon’s family is during big bang theory.

Young Sheldon's Cooper family has become the center of its storytelling, even though The Big Bang Theory barely featured all of its members.

  • Young Sheldon introduces Sheldon's family from Medford, Texas, who play a central role in shaping his childhood before he moves to Pasadena.
  • While Sheldon's dad, George, is absent from The Big Bang Theory, he appears in a crossover episode through an old videotape.
  • Missy, Sheldon's twin sister, proves to be the best Cooper in Young Sheldon, showing loyalty and dependability to her family.

Young Sheldon 's Coopers are all scattered during the events of The Big Bang Theory . As part of Sheldon's origins story, Young Sheldon properly introduces his family from Medford, Texas. While the socially inept genius gets so close to his friends in Pasadena that they are practically his family, he does have his own biological clan, who, for the most part, love and support him. In Young Sheldon , they become central figures in shaping Sheldon's childhood up until he moves to Pasadena, California to start his post-graduate studies at Caltech, as seen in The Big Bang Theory .

When Young Sheldon was conceived, its primary idea was to be an origins story for Sheldon. Soon after, however, it became clear that the rest of the Coopers are also great assets to the show that can be focused on. Each member was interesting enough to carry their own storylines and arcs. So, instead of always being supporting characters in Sheldon's adventures, CBS gradually shifted some of the spotlight to other members of the clan. As they have grown in popularity, there are understandable queries as to where they are during the events of the nerd-centric sitcom.

5 George Cooper

Lance barber.

Long before he was cast as Sheldon's dad, Lance Barber had already appeared in The Big Bang Theory back in season 5, albeit playing a different character — Leonard's bully in high school, Jimmy Speckerman. This remains one of the most interesting quirks in the sitcom universe, as CBS hasn't acknowledged or even tried to comment on the matter. That being said, because George had already died before the events of The Big Bang Theory started, he is the only member of the Coopers who doesn't physically appear in the nerd-centric sitcom.

While he never visits Pasadena during The Big Bang Theory , Sheldon's father has an established image before he debuts in Young Sheldon. Sheldon and Mary like to talk about him, unfortunately, in the most unflattering way. He is described as a no-good father — something that Young Sheldon constantly debunks. CBS was able to find a way, however, to bring George to the nerd-centric sitcom. During the one-time The Big Bang Theory and Young Sheldon crossover , Jim Parson's Sheldon watches an old videotape of his dad, which helps him move forward with his Super Asymmetry paper.

4 Mary Cooper

Mary is the very first member of the Cooper family to appear in The Big Bang Theory , debuting in season 1, episode 4 "The Luminous Fish Effect." In the outing, she visits Pasadena after Leonard seeks her help with Sheldon's work woes. After that, the Cooper matriarch would return to The Big Bang Theory multiple times over its 12-year run for various reasons. At one point, she has a run-in with Leonard's parents and becomes smitten with his father.

Despite that, Young Sheldon 's Mary is still more fleshed-out and grounded. Thanks to her consistent guesting stint, The Big Bang Theory establishes that Mary still lives in Texas, albeit alone as both Georgie and Missy have also moved out. She remains a devout Christian and is arguably worse for it. She's also busy socializing having been widowed for years.

Why Young Sheldon’s New Streaming Home Is Actually Bad News For Season 7

3 georgie cooper, montana jordan.

Often overlooked in Young Sheldon is Georgie. It was his primary conflict during the show's first season, as he dealt with being in the same class as Sheldon. Over the years, however, Mary and George's firstborn has been able to develop his own identity, eventually becoming one of the most interesting players in the prequel. Georgie is the last Cooper family member to appear in The Big Bang Theory . He didn't debut until The Big Bang Theory season 11, just before Amy and Sheldon's wedding. Before that, he was busy taking care of Missy and Mary on the heels of George's unexpected death, while also building his own business.

Aside from having his hands full, Georgie's absence from the earlier seasons of The Big Bang Theory is due to his falling out with Sheldon. The brothers harbored grudges towards each other for years due to a communication problem. Georgie didn't feel like Sheldon appreciated everything he sacrificed for the family — things that the socially inept genius didn't know about because Mary didn't tell him.

2 Missy Cooper

Raegan revord.

After Mary's visit to Pasadena in The Big Bang Theory season 1, Sheldon's twin sister Missy follows suit, appearing in episode 15, "The Porkchop Indeterminacy." Prior to her appearance, she had already been mentioned in the pilot episode, but Leonard, Howard, and Raj assumed that she would be as socially inept as her brother, so they didn't pay any attention to her. After Missy's The Big Bang Theory debut, she wouldn't appear in the show until after a decade, returning to Pasadena to attend Sheldon and Amy's wedding. By then, she is pregnant with her second child but is on the cusp of separating from her husband.

As Young Sheldon 's storytelling progressed, it became increasingly clear that Missy is the best Cooper in the show. George and Mary's only daughter has proven time and again that not only is she fiercely loyal but also highly dependable. Granted that she can be too stubborn for her own good, she has always been there for her family whenever they needed her. It's clear during her first appearance in The Big Bang Theory that she and Sheldon didn't regularly keep in touch, but considering everything she went through as a kid growing up with her twin, it is impressive that she didn't harbor any grudge towards Sheldon.

7 Advantages Of Young Sheldon’s Shortened Final Season

Annie potts.

He may have a soft spot for his mother, but Sheldon and his Meemaw arguably have a much closer bond — at least that's what The Big Bang Theory insinuated. Connie Tucker was first mentioned in season 2, episode 17 "The Terminator Decoupling," followed by an appearance in season 9, episode 14, "The Meemaw Materialization," when she came to Pasadena to meet her grandson's then-girlfriend, Amy. Admittedly, the nerd-centric sitcom's version of the character is quite different from its spin-off, although it doesn't reveal much about Meemaw's life after the events of Young Sheldon . It's established that she remains in Texas after Sheldon moves to California, however.

In Young Sheldon , since Sheldon's family lives just across the street from his Meemaw, she's a constant figure in their lives. The prequel has even tackled her personal arc, which primarily revolves around her love life. While she only appears in The Big Bang Theory once, not even attending Sheldon and Amy's wedding , there's no news of her passing throughout the events of the mothership series. 'The Big Bang Theory' Season 11, Episode 23 Recap: Jerry O'Connell Appears as Adult Georgie

Since The Big Bang Theory 's first season, Sheldon Cooper's older brother, Georgie, has only been mentioned on screen. We've seen his mom, his twin sister, and his Mee-Maw in the present day…but no Georgie. That all changed, though, in "The Sibling Realignment" with the absolutely perfect casting of Jerry O'Connell.

Because of Young Sheldon, ,we've gotten to know teenage Georgie—and see the dysfunctional, if not typical, relationship between him and Sheldon. Ever wonder how two people from the same parents can be so different? Yeah, that's Sheldon and Georgie.

At the start of the episode, Mary Cooper tells Sheldon she won't attend his wedding to Amy unless he invites his brother. (Yikes.) Sheldon doesn't want to because, according to him, Georgie tormented him his entire childhood. Mary couldn't care less, though—these are her sons, and Georgie should be at Sheldon's wedding. One problem: Georgie wants no contact with his younger sibling. His voicemail literally says that if it's Sheldon calling, he can dial "1-800-Suck-It." For Sheldon, the only thing left to do is grab Leonard and board a flight to Texas to ask Georgie in person.

Georgie—who goes by George now—operates a successful tire business, Dr. Tire, and still sports a mullet and a deep Texas twang. He may not have the highest (or even a mediocre) IQ, but he's worked hard and made a name for himself. And when Sheldon and Leonard arrive, the tension is palpable. The siblings pick right up where they left off 10 years ago—whoever said time heals all wounds didn't know what they were talking about.

Georgie says he'd rather swallow a pregnant wildcat and crap out a litter of kittens than go to Sheldon's wedding. Um, if Georgie really feels that way, I wouldn't want him at the wedding either. But…that means not having Mary in attendance, so Sheldon is stuck.

Sheldon returns to the hotel and calls his mother to tell her what happened. Despite being the one to cause all this trouble in the first place, Mary tells Sheldon she doesn't want to be in the middle of her sons' issues and they need to figure it out themselves. Sheldon then questions whether he needs his mother at his wedding at all. ("I've got Amy now, and she can do everything and more than a mom can." Uh, OK then.)

Sheldon tells Leonard stories about how Georgie terrorized him as a kid, even throwing away his Halloween costume one year and sitting on his head while watching Star Trek . Leonard empathizes and says he'll try to talk some sense into Georgie. I would have driven straight to the airport and boarded the next flight back to California, but that's just me.

Over at Dr. Tire, Leonard appeals to Georgie by telling him that he gets Sheldon wasn't the easiest brother. Still, it wasn't easy for Sheldon with Georgie picking on him all the time. Georgie is confused. ("Is that what he told you? I always looked out for him. I drove him everywhere. I apologized to people when he was rude.") Leonard understands because he's done plenty of the same for Sheldon over the years as well. Georgie asks Leonard if Sheldon has ever thanked him for everything he's done, and Leonard admits not so much. Yep, Georgie's words have struck a chord.

But Georgie isn't done. He continues: "Do you know how I got the money to open my first store? I busted my ass for it, because all the extra money we had had to go to Sheldon. So he could go to college and study in Germany. And you know what he's never said to me? 9Thank you). And after all my sacrifices, guess which kid my mom is most proud of?"

Leonard understands and tells Georgie that if it makes him feel better, his own mother is most proud of Sheldon too. Oof.

Leonard brings Georgie back to the hotel room and tells Sheldon to apologize to his brother. Sheldon is aghast. "I have nothing to apologize for," he says. "[Plus] I don't appreciate what you're putting Mom through."

"What would you know about putting Mom through?" Georgie counters. "You're never home. You went away to college after dad died. Who do you think took care of everything?" Sheldon says Mom, of course. "[But] Mom was a mess," Georgie says. "Missy was a dumb teenager. I had to look after both of them."

Sheldon says if their mother was that upset, she would have told him, but Georgie says it was the opposite. If anything, she was always trying to protect him. Sheldon still doesn't understand why Georgie didn't at least tell him what was going on, but Georgie says it was because he was protecting him as well. "You're my baby brother, Sheldon. I know life's been hard for you, but that doesn't mean it's been easy for the rest of us."

Sheldon begins to realize just how immune he was to the difficult times at home after their father died. "I suppose I didn't think about how it was for everyone else," he says. (Whoa. Stop the presses, people. Sheldon is acknowledging—again—feelings other than his own.)

Georgie is understanding and tells Sheldon that it's alright; he knows Sheldon wasn't aware of how hard things were. Sheldon apologizes, and Georgie accepts. Then Sheldon tells him it would mean a lot to have his big brother at the wedding. "I wouldn't miss it," Georgie says.

Had this exchange happened at any other time in Big Bang 's run, it probably wouldn't have carried the same weight that it does now. But thanks to Young Sheldon, seeing Georgie and Sheldon as kids made it all the more monumental.

Damn, Big Bang. You're saving the best for last this season, aren't you?

That’s a wrap on Young Sheldon .

Big Bang Theory Easter Eggs on Young Sheldon

After seven seasons, the Big Bang Theory prequel finished filming its series finale Tuesday — and emotions are running high. As the stars of the long-running CBS comedy say goodbye, several cast members are sharing behind-the-scenes photos from their final hours on set.

“Today was our last day of filming @YoungSheldonCBS,” leading man Iain Armitage wrote on Instagram. “What a joy, honor and a privilege.”

“This is eight-year-old me getting ready to film the very first scene I did as Young Sheldon ,” he wrote. “@MelissaPeterman recently asked what I would go back and tell my younger self. Maybe I wouldn’t tell him anything and I would just let life unfold as it does, but I think he’d be so surprised and happy to see where we are now. I sure am. I don’t think this kid could have anticipated what it would feel like to film our final scene all these years later. Thank you, amazing crew, past and present, and those who have been there the whole time. I love you all so much!

Armitage’s TV sister also documented her last day on set: A video on Raegan Revord ‘s Instagram story shows Revord (Missy) and Annie Potts (Meemaw) hugging it out. Her caption reads, “My emotional state at the moment.”

Recurring guest star Melissa Peterman (aka Brenda Sparks) also marked the end of production with a selfie in front of the Young Sheldon stage at Warner Bros. Studios:

Young Sheldon director Alex Reid, who helmed the spinoff’s swan song, posted a heartfelt remembrance of his own. “I can’t express how much my time on this show has meant to me,” he wrote. “To watch these actors evolve through the years felt like watching my own family grow and change. Right now I have no words but in the coming days I’ll post some of my photos from the 36 episodes I was fortunate enough to direct. This is from this afternoon, before we shot our last scene.”

But perhaps no post was more jarring than this one shared by Montana Jordan — aka Georgie — who took a video to show that the Young Sheldon set had already been dismantled by Wednesday afternoon:

As previously reported, Young Sheldon ‘s one-hour series finale (airing Thursday, May 16 at 8/7c) will feature cameos by Jim Parsons and Mayim Bialik , who will reprise their on-screen roles as Drs. Sheldon Cooper and Amy Farrah Fowler for the first time since Big Bang Theory ‘s 2019 series finale.

The Big Bang franchise will then continue in the fall with the first of two planned spinoffs: CBS’ as-yet-untitled Georgie and Mandy spinoff starring Jordan and Emily Osment. Series co-creator Chuck Lorre is also developing a Big Bang Theory offshoot for streaming service Max .

Young Shelton is one of the most underrated comedies ever! I don’t recall the show or actors ever being nominated for any major awards. What an oversight! I’m looking forward to Georgie and Mandy’s spinoff hopefully with the majority of the cast still intact. I’m pretty sure Iain Armitage will appear as Shelton on occasion but I will certainly miss George (we all know what’s coming…sigh).

Watching this show has been a joy and I will miss it greatly! I will definitely watch the spin-off, and any other future returns to this universe, but I’m still sad to see these characters go.

Love both of these shows, never laugh so hard….wish it would keep going…..all of you are great actors.Wish you nothing but the Best❤️

This was a winning series, exceeded expectations. I liked it better than the original. TV needs more shows like it. Thank you, YS Team!

I enjoyed Young Sheldon so much, better than TBBT, and it became a true ensemble show. The years have passed so quickly and the younger cast members were so young at the start. I wish all of them the best and thank everyone for the laughs and the tears.

I will certainly miss this show. I recently caught a re-run and I forgot just how young the kids were when the show first started, especially Georgie. Looking forward to the next chapter for The Coopers.

Truly love both. BIG BANG and Young Sheldon. World needs clean laughter. Memaw and George need stand up ovation. As well as the rest

I really hope they are just keeping other cameos under wraps. If Sheldon and Amy are making an appearance, I hope we might get a flash forward with their characters and see how they are doing. It wouldn’t be too far fetched that they’d be hanging out with the gang. :) I’d love an update, at least, on the other characters, as well.

I only began viewing this program three years ago…..now, I cannot miss it! Sometimes, I’ll watch it two/three times per day, I enjoy it that much! If I could have one wish, it would be that George’s death had never been announced. I truly feel that and and MeeMaw have the best roles on the program. Although Sheldon’s part began well, the last couple of years , even he has become too obnoxious to enjoy, and, believe me, I’m not! I truly enjoy Sheldon, but he’s become too pushy and, in a real family, his brother and sister would never take his crap! I’m so sorry that George seniors script has already been written so far in advance. I sure do believe that the show would last longer and benefit hugely with his presence!

I have cried thinking about no more Young Sheldon. A big loss in my TV lineup. It would be great if you would continue the show with another of the actors like Annie Potts getting their own show. Maybe the mother continuing her life after George dying.

I have loved this show from the jump, but it feels like this is the right time for it to go. What is cute coming from the mouth of an eight-year-old, can be insufferable in a teenager. I am hoping the spinoff cast will include Will Sasso. He has been great. CBS should also consider a future series for Meemaw and Dale. They are wonderful together.
