The Middle Harbour Eco Tour provides you with the amazing opportunity to learn some fascinating snippets about the history of the area from a friendly guide as you paddle through differing environments - from affluent urban to the remote natural bushland of the Garigal National Park. As civilisation slips away the true beauty of our harbour and its wildlife will open up before you. When high tides allow you can even paddle deep into the mangrove systems of Scotts Creek or Bantry Bay, hidden eco gems that lay undiscovered by most Sydneysiders. Soak up the serenity and re-energise for the paddle home while you enjoy a wholesome morning tea served at one of our favourite secluded spots.

Middle Harbour / You will be amazed that you are only 7km from a major CBD, it is easy to think you are in the wilderness.

The tour runs for 4 hours every Saturday and Sunday morning from 8.30am till 12.30pm and includes:

- 20 minute instruction on safety and equipment use. - Qualified, experienced, friendly guide. - Wholesome morning tea stopover at an idyllic location. - All paddling equipment supplied. - Storage for your gear in the shop - Stable and safe double sea kayaks We have a changing room with toilet and shower facilities.

Please bring your own water bottle

You need to arrive at 8.10am.

You must wear closed-in shoes that can get wet as there are oyster shells on the beaches we stop at.

Please DO NOT wear thongs / flip-flops as they offer limited protection. At only $145 per person it's the perfect way to discover parts of Sydney you will only ever see from the water.

The Eco Tour can also be conducted as a Private Kayaking Tour. A Private Eco Tour runs for 4 hours and is perfect for large groups, there is one guide for every 12 paddlers. The Private Tours are able to be run when you require; 7 days per week.

The tours require a minimum of six people to start and we can manage up to 60 people at one time.

Our group discounts start over 40 people.

Pricing All Sydney Harbour Kayak Tour participants are priced the same regardless of age.

What’s included: – Single or double sea kayaks, high end paddles & PFD (life vest)  – A full safety briefing and kayaking lesson is provided prior to your tour commencement. – Breakie and coffee credit of $20 provided by the local Flying Bear café after the tour!

Please be aware that the crew reserves the right to prohibit anyone from participating if they deem it unsafe.

Please be aware that if you are not eligible as per the statements below, and this isn’t found until on the day of your tour, you will not be permitted to join the tour and no refund will be issued.

  • Maximum weight: 180 KG per kayak.
  • If you are pregnant , you’re able to join this tour at your own discretion, however, please be aware that  pregnant bellies in the later stages of pregnancy don’t fit into Kayaks .
  • Please be aware that this activity requires a medium-high level of physical fitness , and participants are required to know how to swim .
  • Children under the age of 12  years are not permitted to join this tour. 
  • If you have any pre-existing medical conditions , are taking prescription medication or you are suffering from any injury or illness , then it is important that the tour operator is made aware in-advance. 

Covid-19 You mustn’t have been diagnosed with COVID-19, returned from overseas, visited a hot spot, or been in close contact with a person who has a reported or suspected case of coronavirus (COVID-19) in the 14 days prior to my Kayaking Activity. You mustn’t have a fever, cough, sore throat, shortness of breath or other cold/flu-like symptoms in the 72 hours prior to my Kayaking Activity.

when and where to meet?

This tour operates out of  Lavender Bay, Sydney, NSW .

Please meet 15 minutes prior to your tour departure, at address: Lavender Bay Boat Ramp, 6 King George St, Lavender Bay, Sydney NSW, 2060. Customers are NOT contacted UNLESS the trip is cancelled. If you don’t hear from anyone, please meet at the time and location stated in your booking details.

You will receive a confirmation email upon purchasing this tour which will provide you with all of the relevant information, e.g. CONTACT NUMBERS,  ADDRESS ETC.

what to bring?

Sunscreen & appropriate clothing (wide brim hat & a long-sleeve top, or warm/windproof clothing), shoes are not essential (and will get wet), and polarized sunglasses are recommended for best viewing through the surface of the water.

Heavy clothing is not suggested to be worn. Swim wear is recommended (to be worn ahead of time), and a spare pair of clothing for afterwards.

Medication: (If you require to take medication throughout the duration of this tour, please remember to bring this with you. If you deem it necessary, please inform a member of staff, on board your vessel, where within your belongings this can be found).

Seasickness Medication – You may experience seasickness out on the open ocean. We suggest that you should speak with your pharmacist in advance of your trip, to seek their advice on seasickness medication. We will not reschedule bookings or issue refunds for those suffering from seasickness.

Single Kayaks: Wilderness System – Aspire 105 is a safe, stable, comfortable and easy to manoeuvre kayak. It is a high performance kayak that suits beginners and season paddlers .

Double Kayaks: Safari H2O – Drifter II is comfortable, easy to get in and out of, very stable and glides along the water with minimal effort. This makes it easily paddled by one of two people, allowing your co-paddler to sit at the front and enjoy the views. You can even bring your dog along 🙂
