All 4 bands that played last night were fantastic. 4 to 5 hours of straight up punk rock and good tunes.
Cro-Mags, The Damned, The Distillers, and The Misfits didn't have one dull moment. They all made my night.
The only thing that sucked was having a guy thrown over me and knocking me in my head. The security guard who saw it came up to me after the show to check on me, which was cool. I especially appreciated being "guarded" by some awesome people while in the mosh pit, especially after I got knocked in my noggin. Thank you to those people who helped me out (If you're reading this), thank you to the staff, and thank you to all of the bands that played. It was worth every penny and every second of time. When you come around again, I'll be there. =^)

Johnny Moped are still PUNK as FUCK !! The Damned never let you down always play well always change the set list to use some more obscure songs along with the fan favourites ! Glad Paul Grey is back on bass he’s without doubt a class act !! We’ve seen them sooooo many times this year and the only complaint about this gig was the lack of parking near the venue and not in the best part of town which made life a bit awkward is the polite way of putting it when the gig kicked out !
It was absolutely fantastic!
The band puts on great show, even thought the audio engineer was having a little bit of technical difficulties, they still sounded great! They put a lot of energy into their performance, especially the keyboardist. I forgot his name. his on stage antics was quite entertaining. After the show almost ended, they did a four song on core. or Maybe it was three. Anyways. The last song they played was Smash It Up which is not only my favorite track but my anticipated song I was hoping to hear them preform. And it was a surprise they did!
It was the best 35.00 I've ever spent on my birthday!

The REAL reason The Damned were thrown off the Anarchy In The UK tour
In an episode left out of Danny Boyle’s Pistol, Malcolm McLaren once claimed that The Damned were ‘punk traitors’ and had them thrown off a tour. Here’s what really happened…
The Damned were the first UK punk band to release a record, the first UK punk band to tour America, the first to split up (in 1978). By the time they reformed, six months later, The Clash were still only on their second album.
A frantic and furious British version of the Stooges and the MC5 , their debut single New Rose made The Clash look timid and the Sex Pistols look turgid. New Rose came out in October, their debut album Damned Damned Damned came in February 1977, and in-between was the small matter of the Anarchy In The UK Tour
The Anarchy Tour doesn't even get mentioned in Danny Boyle’s Pistol series. Which is weird because, as a punk package tour featuring the Sex Pistols, The Clash, The Damned and Johnny Thunders and the Heartbreakers, it was kind of a big deal. It happened right as the Bill Grundy scandal kicked off, at the beginning of December ’76. By 7 December, the Damned had been thrown off and labelled ‘punk traitors’.
In Derby, the second proposed date of the tour, the council had refused to let the Pistols play, but said the other bands could. The Clash and the Heartbreakers refused, but the Damned? Well the Damned were willing to consider it. And that made them sell-outs.If you believe Malcolm McLaren’s side of the story, that is.
“The truth is,” says Brian James, founder, original guitarist and the band’s main songwriter back then, “the only reason Malcolm wanted the Damned on the Anarchy tour was because the Pistols had hardly ever played outside of London.
“I don’t think the Clash had ever played outside of London, and we had. [In fact The Clash’s first gig had been supporting the Pistols in Sheffield in July that year, and they had also played Leighton Buzzard, 40 miles north of London.] We had a bit of an audience going, so he wanted to make sure the Damned were on the bill, otherwise 30 miles outside of London there’d be no-one there.
“The night before all the bands were doing a soundcheck when the Pistols came running in: ‘You won’t fucking believe it! We’ve just done the Bill Grundy show… blah blah blah’. Laughing about it. The next day, it’s all over the fucking papers, Bill Grundy’s sacked, the whole thing.

“And the full effect of that kicks in maybe two days into the tour. At that point, the line-up was the Pistols headlining, the Damned before the Pistols, and then Johnny Thunders and the Heartbreakers and The Clash on first.
Malcolm starts having a go at our tour manager. He was like an office boy at Stiff. Malcolm gives this kid such a hard time that he’s in tears. So I steamed in... I didn't give a fuck." Brian James
“Two nights into the tour, Malcolm starts having a go at our tour manager. He was like an office boy at Stiff, he wasn’t an experienced manager or anything, he was just there to make sure we got to our hotels and stuff. We weren’t travelling with the rest of them.
“They had record company support: EMI, CBS and stuff like that. They had a big coach, we had a little Transit. We weren’t part of ‘the Malcolm McLaren gang’. So Malcolm gives this kid such a hard time – saying ‘I don’t need the Damned’ and all this shit – that he’s in tears.
“So I steamed in and I had a go at Malcolm: ‘What the fuck are you on about?’ I didn’t give a fuck in them days, I was ready to fuckin’ hit ‘im to tell you the truth. But he had his bodyguards.
“So it comes to this big showdown. Malcolm wants the Damned to go on first, then Heartbreakers, then the Clash… It turned into this big political number. Meanwhile, the gigs were being cancelled because the promoters were getting the heebie-jeebies because of all the bad press.
“We’re getting all this crap from McLaren and there’s people contacting our office saying, ‘Will the Damned play anyway?’ We’d turn up somewhere like Manchester to find the gig’s cancelled, but they still want us: ‘Fuck it, we’ll do it’. What are we meant to do? Say, ‘Oh no, we’re not doing it! Not if our mate Malcolm’s not doing it!’? You know what I mean? I could’ve fucking killed that bastard!”
The incident as reported in the music press ruined some of the band’s credibility. Years later, in Jon Savage’s respected punk tome England’s Dreaming , it was still being distorted: the Damned weren’t good enough, The Clash wanted to be higher up the bill, the Damned couldn’t be trusted.
“Total nonsense. Him [Savage] and McLaren have re-written things,” says then bassist, now guitarist Captain Sensible. “These people - they refuse to allow the rest of us any credit for dreaming things up or having intelligence.
“So of course punk didn’t start in the bars down Portobello Road with the bands, it was McLaren and Vivienne Westwood. Nothing to do with us.”
The Anarchy Tour wasn’t the only tour the Damned were thrown off.
A support slot with US rockers the Flamin’ Groovies was also short lived. “They couldn’t keep up with us, I’m afraid,” says Sensible. “I wouldn’t have liked to work with the Damned at the time, to be quite honest. It was quite dangerous, I’d imagine. To have come through it still alive… I’m not overstating it: there was serious amounts of lunacy going on. If the hotel was next to another building, we’d jump from roof to roof, pissed as parrots, just to get the flag off the roof. I’m scared of heights! The things you do when you’re paralytic…
“We had banners made up that said ‘Gob now!’ And we’d hold the banners up behind the band we were working with. The audience, of course, would comply and the band would be absolutely covered in stuff. We had one support band, they got the whole fisherman’s outfits – sowesters, everything – and they wore them every night onstage!
"The Flamin’ Groovies didn’t approve! They’d never seen anything like it. There was another band that came over from New Zealand, called Split Enz. They had weird haircuts and funny clothes and in Australia they were shocking people by the way they looked. They came out on stage in the UK and the audience shocked them! Straight on the first plane back home they were. They were pretty manic days.”
The original line-up of The Damned tour the UK from October 2022. Pistol is streaming now on Disney+.

Scottie Scheffler is ready to win another Masters. But this one will be different
Follow live coverage of the fourth and final day of the 2024 Masters today
AUGUSTA, Ga. — There’s no way he doesn’t hear them. Three rows into the Augusta National driving range is the Scheffler clan, holding court some 20 yards from the No. 1 player in the world. There they are: father, Scott; mother, Diane; sisters Molly and Sara; all leaned back in their seats with their legs stretched out, hamming it up without a worry in the world. They are narrating his shots, and the girls are pressuring Scott to get them cookies before their brother’s round. There’s no way Scottie Scheffler doesn’t hear them, 20 minutes before teeing off as co-leader at the Masters. But all he does is stripe golf balls into the Georgia sky, unaffected, and joke around with his caddie, Ted Scott, and coach, Randy Smith.
This is all just the norm for Scheffler. Playing weekend rounds in the final groups on the largest stages with his family nearby has become a weekly occurrence. And Sunday, he’ll play for his second green jacket starting with a one-shot lead over Collin Morikawa.
But this week, he doesn’t have Meredith.
His high school sweetheart and wife is eight months pregnant. She’s a mainstay at tournaments, the bubbly, joyful presence who sprints onto greens after his nine wins in 26 months. She’s due in a few weeks (Scheffler has vowed to leave and head home if she goes into labor during the tournament), so for the first time in years, Meredith is not at the house with Scheffler, a disconcerting and foreign feeling for the 27-year-old phenom. He had to make himself breakfast Friday — some eggs and toast — which he joked was an adjustment. “Fortunately, Nike kind of takes care of my clothes this week, so I don’t have to pick my own outfits,” he said.
Then his housemate and best friend, Sam Burns, missed the Masters cut Friday, meaning Scheffler had the house to himself for the weekend. That didn’t feel right, so he invited some of his good friends to stay with him. They made breakfast Saturday morning and hung out before it was time to go to the course.
But the story of Scheffler at the Masters cannot be told without Meredith and their emotional morning two years ago. Their lives changed forever that day, just like they’re about to change this month when they have their first child.
Two years ago, Scheffler led the Masters by three strokes. He was 25 and entered that year without a PGA Tour win. Suddenly, he was about to become golf’s greatest force. That morning, he cried. “I don’t think I’m ready for this,” he said. “I’m not ready.”
“She told me, ‘Who are you to say that you are not ready? Who am I to say that I know what’s best for my life?’” Scheffler recalled. “And so what we talked about is that God is in control and that the Lord is leading me.”
Scheffler went on to win the Masters by three shots, launching his life into a new orbit. He’s No. 1 in the world. He has become the best ball striker we’ve seen over a three-year span since Tiger Woods. He has racked up nine wins, finished top-10 in five of the next eight majors and became the kind of star who gets scrutinized when he doesn’t win. And the morning before all those big Sunday rounds, Scheffler had Meredith.
It can’t be overstated how often Scheffler is in this position. Since the beginning of 2022, he’s been in the final two groups entering Saturday 17 times. Nobody else in golf has been in the final two groups entering Saturday more than 11 times. He’s had the 54-hole lead or co-lead 10 times in that span. The next best is five. One can criticize Scheffler, if they’d like, for not winning more, but nobody can deny his mind-boggling consistency. He has finished top-five in 31 of his past 59 events. He hasn’t finished outside the top 20 since August. He hasn’t done worse than 31st since October 2022.
With that consistency comes a toll. Yeah, you’d rather play well than not, but most great players have great weeks with a few duds in between. That’s just how professional golf works. But Scheffler has to ride the adrenaline and stress into Sunday every weekend. Yes, that is success, but it also means pain. Nine wins are great. But that doesn’t make finishing so close 26 times without a win any easier.
“I think mentally it can be very taxing,” Scheffler said after winning the Players Championship last month. “Physically, it’s fairly taxing as well, but mentally, it’s a lot of fun being in the final groups, but it also takes a toll on your body and your mind.”
It also means he has prepared for this.
So Scheffler stepped to the first tee Saturday, tied for the 36-hole lead at the Masters, and waited opposite a 23-year-old Dane named Nicolai Højgaard playing in his first Masters. Højgaard is sharp. He’s composed. He’s really good and is going to win a whole lot of tournaments in his prime. But being ready for the second-to-last group at the Masters is a whole different experience.
On the first green, which Scheffler left himself off of, Højgaard watched from a better position as Scheffler hit a filthy, spin-filled, bouncy chip that rolled straight into the hole for birdie. The crowd erupted; grown men were standing out of their seats, raising their fists and shouting, “Yeah, Scottie!” (If this sounds dramatic, it was truly the scene). And poor Højgaard had to experience this and follow. He left his chip way short and bogeyed the hole.
Or there were the moments when Scheffler appeared to be collapsing. He had the solo lead at the turn before double-bogeying 10 and bogeying 11 to go from first to sixth on the leaderboard. The old Scheffler would have fumed, but he’s so used to this now. He just kept his head down, stared at his shoes and made the short walk to the 12th tee. He parred that hole, but on 13, he hit a 217-yard iron shot safely onto the green. When he made the 31-foot eagle putt to jump back into the lead, he throttled his fists and shouted to the crowd. He knew there was a chance he would give the tournament away, and he knew he had just taken it back.
Meanwhile, Højgaard went from 7 under through 10 holes and in the lead to bogeying the next five holes to drop to sixth.
“I think that’s just part of maturing as a person,” Scheffler said two days earlier of his tunnel vision. “So maybe you’re born with a little bit of it, but I think you have to train yourself to do that over time as well.”
Scheffler was made for this moment. Højgaard was still learning to be.
Scheffler birdied 18 to finish with a solo lead at 7 under. He’s the front-runner to win his second green jacket and potentially solidify himself as his era’s most dominant player.
But the strangest part for Scheffler was going home Saturday night without Meredith. He hit balls for about 10-20 minutes on the range after his round. The plan was to go back to his place and see his buddies. They’d order some food. They’d hang out. Maybe play some cards.
He’d also call Meredith. They’d talk about how she’s doing and what he’s feeling. (He said the plan is in place for somebody on his team to have a phone ready for if she goes into labor, Augusta National rules be damned, and he’ll have a plane ready to get him back to Texas immediately.)
Then he’d go to bed and wake up ready to play Sunday at the Masters with a lead. Two years ago in this spot, he was just a kid with his life changing at a rapid pace. Now he is a man, one about to be a dad, dominating his sport for the foreseeable future. Whether or not he wins Sunday, Scheffler’s golf life will remain pretty similar. He’ll keep shooting in the 60s. He’ll keep competing at the biggest events. His family will surround him. This week, though, will forever be different.
“Now the most exciting thing is not winning the Masters,” Scheffler said. “It’s a baby coming pretty soon.”

Cannes 2024 lineup includes 3 BFI-supported UK films
The line-up includes Andrea Arnold’s Bird and Sandhya Suri’s Santosh, both backed by the BFI Filmmaking Fund, as well as September Says, directed by Ariane Labed and supported by the UK Global Screen Fund.
11 April 2024
Three films supported by the BFI have been announced among the lineup for this year’s Cannes Film Festival. Andrea Arnold’s Bird, backed by the BFI Filmmaking Fund, will play in Competition. Written and directed by Arnold and starring Barry Keoghan and Franz Rogowski, it’s the story of 12-year-old Bailey, who lives with her single dad Bug and brother Hunter in a squat in north Kent.
Sandhya Suri’s Santosh, also backed by the BFI Filmmaking Fund, will screen in Un Certain Regard. Suri’s debut narrative centres on newly widowed Santosh, who inherits her husband’s job as a police constable in the rural badlands of northern India. When a low caste girl is found raped and murdered, she is pulled into the investigation under the wing of charismatic feminist inspector Sharma.
Also in Un Certain Regard is September Says, directed by Ariane Labed, a minority UK co-production with Ireland, Germany and Greece supported by the UK Global Screen Fund, awarding funds from the UK government.
“We are energised by the strong line-up of UK films just announced in official selection at Cannes 2024,” says Mia Bays, director of the BFI Filmmaking Fund. “Particularly Andrea Arnold, returning to the festival with her incredible new film Bird and while also being honoured with the Directors’ Fortnight’s Carrosse d’Or award; and for Sandhya Suri whose stunning narrative debut feature Santosh will screen in Un Certain Regard. They are two very distinctive female filmmakers at very different stages of their careers, who we are proud to support through the BFI National Lottery Filmmaking Fund.”
Among the other films playing in competition are new works by directors including Francis Ford Coppola, David Cronenberg, Yorgos Lanthimos, Jacques Audiard, Paul Schrader, Jia Zhangke, Miguel Gomes, Paolo Sorrentino and Coralie Fargeat. Jury president is Greta Gerwig.
