The Oral-B 7000 electric toothbrush has a travel case without a lock. However, it does have a magnetic closure.

These are the features to consider:

• Holds up to two brush heads and one handle
• Lacks ventilation
• Removable and dishwasher-safe inner lining
• Comes with an accessory pouch

The accessory pouch is velcro-lined but barely fits the handle, a brush head, and a small tube of toothpaste. Because of that, I’d say it’s best for overnight stays with a fully charged Oral-B 7000 electric toothbrush.

Bluetooth Function

The Oral-B 7000 electric toothbrush features a display panel on the handle. This panel shows the battery charge and Bluetooth status.

Bluetooth connectivity allows you to sync to the Oral-B app and the Smart Guide device. There are no extra buttons to sync the toothbrush handle, app, or Smart Guide device. Instead, the toothbrush automatically connects when it can.

Advanced Motor

On paper, the Oral-B 7000’s advanced motor feature sounds great. However, I experienced some issues that other reviewers had as well.

According to Oral-B, these are the advanced motor’s standout features and benefits:

• Produces 40,000 vibrations and 8,800 oscillatons per minute
• Brushing motion removes up to 500% more plaque than a manual toothbrush 1
• Indicates when to move to the next quadrant of your mouth
• Slows down when you brush too hard

The toothbrush’s motor lets you know when you’re brushing too hard by flashing a red light through the two plastic loops around the toothbrush’s neck. It can also light up green after every 30 seconds of brushing.

I found that the force necessary to trigger the red flash exceeds what you can tolerate. In other words, I already know I’m applying too much pressure before the toothbrush’s sensors can tell me so.

Smart Guide and Oral-B App 

The Oral-B app is available for both Android and Apple devices. It lets you view your calendar, local weather, and recent news. 

The Smart Guide stores up to 6 months of personal brushing data. It features an LCD screen that shows information on your brushing session.

The Oral-B Smart Guide includes the following additional features:

• Displays the brushing mode you’re currently using
• Notifies you when it’s time to switch quadrants
• Alerts you when you’re brushing too hard
• Records when and for how long you brush too hard
• Reminds you to floss, use mouthwash, and replace your brush heads
• Uses a star rating system to rate each brushing session

After you’ve brushed your teeth for 2 minutes, the Smart Guide will display a smiley face. This feedback is a great way to motivate children to brush their teeth twice daily.

Brushing Modes

The display incorporated into the handle doesn’t indicate which mode you’re in. You have to use the Oral-B app or the Smart Guide device to determine which mode you’re in.

The Oral-B 7000 has six brush modes: 1

Each time you place the Oral-B 7000 on the charger, it reverts to the Daily Clean brush setting. It’s one of the more inconvenient features of the brush because you have to scroll through the settings to find the mode you want.

Brush Heads

Oral-B includes the following brush heads with your Oral-B 7000 purchase: 

• Cross Action — Capitalizes on the toothbrush’s vibrating and oscillating features for a superior clean
• 3D White — Polishing bristles makes brushing feel like a visit to the dentist’s chair
• Sensitive Clean — Ultra-soft bristles on this brush head, which were just as effective at cleaning my teeth while being gentle on my gums

The Oral-B 7000 electric toothbrush handle is compatible with all other non-iO brush heads, including: 

• Pro Gum Care
• Floss Action
• Precision Clean

Each brush head is color-coded with a small ring around the base. This feature helps you tell brush heads apart if you share your Oral-B 7000 electric toothbrush. 

You can easily find replacement brush heads on the Oral-B website. Oral-B brush heads contain a unique feature where the blue bristles fade as you use them.

Cleaning Quality

The six cleaning modes make adjusting the vibration settings easy to fit your comfort level. Switching between brush heads can also help you maximize this electric toothbrush’s potential. 

I used the Oral-B 7000 in Daily Clean and Deep Clean modes. Both work well to lift stains and leave my teeth feeling smooth.

These are my observations on some of the modes’ cleaning qualities:

• Deep Clean ⁠— Worked well for food that sticks between teeth or for teeth that are closer together
• Whitening ⁠— Lifted coffee stains from my teeth and improved overall appearance

I also switched out brush heads to further customize my toothbrushing session. These are my observations:

• Cross Action ⁠— Suitable for most of my brushing sessions
• 3D White ⁠— Best after a morning coffee to prevent stains
• Sensitive Clean ⁠— Gentle on the teeth and gums and soothing enough before bed

Charging and Battery Life

Oral-B includes two AAA batteries for the Smart Guide device. However, the Oral-B 7000 electric toothbrush charges via a wireless charger that plugs into your standard home outlet. 

Features of the Oral-B 7000 wireless charging include:

• Chargeable on circuits up to 130 volts only
• Mirrors other Oral-B chargers
• Impossible to overcharge
• Takes 24 hours to charge fully 4
• Full charge lasts up to 10 days of brushing twice daily

The electric toothbrush’s display shows three bars, each representing 33% of the charge. It also flashes two colors to indicate two meanings:

• Blue ⁠— The toothbrush is charging (the light switches off when the toothbrush is fully charged)
• Rapid blue flashes ⁠— Low battery
• Orange ⁠— Empty battery

If the battery runs out, it takes 40 minutes of charging before you can use your toothbrush again. When you take the handle off the charger, it attempts to connect to the Oral-B app and Smart Guide automatically.

Oral-B 7000 vs. Other Electric Toothbrushes: A Personal Comparison

The Oral-B 7000 electric toothbrush competes with several well-known brands, including SNOW and Philips Sonicare. You can also compare it to the more affordable Oral-B 5000 electric toothbrush, which lacks the Tongue Clean brushing mode and compatibility with the Smart Guide device.
