Tour de fat – august 26, 2023.

Celebrating 24 years this year, Tour de Fat  is an annual event hosted by Fort Collins-based, New Belgium Brewing Company . Tour de Fat features a day packed full of FREE festivities celebrating beer, bikes, and bemusement. Over its 20+ year history, Tour de Fat has raised nearly $6 million dollars for local bike nonprofits nationally and Bike Fort Collins is fortunate and grateful to have been a beneficiary for many of those years.

As always, we need TONS (hundreds!) of volunteers to put on this event, ranging from help with parade support, to beer sales, to information booths, to clean up. Sign-up for a shift below, and “Raise Your Hand” with us too, so we have you on the list for the future. All volunteers get a couple free beers, which are perfect to use following your shift(s) to enjoy the fun and bemusement. There’s also a volunteer appreciation event in the weeks that the event with more free beer and opportunities to win prizes.

Tour de Fat invites you to gear up for the World's Greatest Costumed Bike Parade! The parade starts at 9:30 am at City Park and loops Mountain Avenue before rolling into New Belgium Brewing for music, entertainment, contests, and games starting at 11:00 am.

New Belgium Brewing Co. is bringing Capital Cities to Denver this summer as part of its 2017 Tour de Fat lineup.

The 18th annual traveling festival dedicated to philanthropy, beer, music, and cycling kicks off May 20 in Asheville, North Carolina. Altogether Tour de Fat is set to hit 33 cities across the U.S. including Boulder, Colorado Springs, Denver and Fort Collins.

New Belgium is Colorado's largest craft brewer — the fourth largest in the United States. In 2017, the Fort Collins-based company plans to make Tour de Fat the "biggest and boldest" it's ever been.

The brewer is partnering with music acts in each of the cities it's hitting including Wilderado in Boulder and Colorado Springs, Capital Cities in Denver and The All-American Rejects & X Ambassadors in Fort Collins.

Ticket prices vary by city. The Aug. 26 event in Denver is set at $25 a ticket. This summer New Belgium hopes Tour de Fat will generate more than $600,000  to support of local causes.

"This is one of the greatest ways we can give back to local communities," said brand manager  Sam Sawyer in a statement . "Not only do folks get a great event with top musical acts and plenty of spectacle, local non-profits get a cash injection and the opportunity to share their message. It's like a win-win-and win-again scenario. This is without a doubt some of the most fun we have all year."

New Belgium Reveals 2014 Tour de Fat Schedule

The events kick off with a costumed bicycle parade that winds through city streets, ending in a city park. That’s when eclectic entertainment takes over from musical acts to yo-yo performers, bike contests and even vaudeville acts. This year will also include some brewing education and feature a “Bicycle Revival” to inspire festival-goers to believe in the power of two-wheeled transportation.

“Here at New Belgium, we’re all about giving people who love bikes (and those still warming up to bikes) a chance to get together in their local park,” said Matt Kowal, New Belgium Brewing’s Tour de Fat Impresario. “It’s such a fun day for so many different reasons — we not only bring people together, but also teach them about great beer, and how to make a difference in their community. And the fun part is you get to come as your alter ego. We all have regular jobs, but who are you at your core? This is the day to show up as that person. We say it every year, but if everyone’s weird, then no one is weird!”

During each tour stop, New Belgium tries to leave as little of an environmental imprint as possible. Tour de Fat hosts green vendors, has compost and recycle stations and festival trucks that operate on biofuel sourced from recycled waste oils.

In 2013, Tour de Fat traveled to 12 cities nationwide and attracted 97,500 festival attendees and 57,359 bicycle parade participants. The philanthropic events raised a total of $536,000 for local nonprofits and diverted an impressive 85 percent of waste from landfills. Tempe, Ariz., raised the most money (over $90,000) and New Belgium’s hometown of Fort Collins, Colo. attracted the most parade riders and festival-goers, both totaling 25,000 people.

Tour de Fat

Tour de Fat is a Bicycle Party with beer. It starts with a costumed bike parade at City Park looping Mountain Ave, then heads to New Belgium Brewing for music, entertainment, contests, games, and of course beer.  Local non-profit organizations benefit financially with a portion of all the beer sales. This year proceeds from beer sales go to Bike Fort Collins, Overland Mountain Bike Association, the Fort Collins Bike CO-OP and Send Town Bike Club.  You can also support the non-profits by purchasing TdF merch!

Note the NEW date and starting point for the parade !  The zaniness takes place on August 26th this year with parade queue at City Park!

We need loads of volunteers to help pull off a successful event !  You can work the parade, the party, pour beer, sell merch, and more!  We even have some merch sorting shifts if you’d like to participate before the TdF.

New Belgium announces Tour de Fat schedule

New Belgium Brewing has announced the Tour de Fat schedule for its 13th season. Most Tour de Fat stops include a costumed bicycle parade, New Belgium beer, entertainment, local food, unusual bike contests and much more. This year the Tour will visit 15 cities.

In 2012, Tour de Fat, which is a free event, will exceed the $2 million mark for money raised for local nonprofits through beer and merchandise purchases. Funds generally go to organizations in the world of bike advocacy.

Each stop now includes a car-for-bike trade. Basically, a person gets up on stage, hands over car keys, and pledges to live one year car-free. Tour de Fat is now seeking volunteers to accept the swapper challenge. Each car-for-bike swapper will choose a local bike shop to help them turn their $2,250 budget into their ultimate car-replacement commuter bike. The cars will be auctioned by Vehicles for Charity, with proceeds to benefit local cycling organizations.

Series Scoring

Your best results for 3 of 5 races will automatically count towards your overall series placing. No need to register separately for the series. Each additional race past 3 will earn you 5 points.

Farley 5 trade in

If you win, you are able to choose the size for your new Farley 5, or use the MSRP at that time towards the purchase of any Trek bike. This will be facilitated through North Country Cycle in Boyne City.  You are able to choose from any in-stock bike, or they are happy to special order you a bike. Special order bikes are subject to availability at that time. This offer has no cash value.

Tour de Fat announces 2021 parade and party in Fort Collins

Tour de Fat will return to Fort Collins in 2021 on Aug. 28, after a year off due to the coronavirus pandemic.

Fort Collins-based New Belgium Brewing will bring back the annual bike parade bursting with color and creativity that ends with a party at the brewery.

The parade, made up of costumed riders on bicycles and, often, other innovative pedal-powered contraptions, will start at 10 a.m. at Mountain Avenue and Sherwood Street. The spectacle will be on full display while it travels through Old Town before ending at New Belgium, where the party will last throughout the evening.

"Attendees can expect a return of the classic entertainment and activations they have come to know and love," a news release Friday promised. The event usually includes entertainment, music, games and New Belgium beer.

But no such details were given Friday, though more information is expected to come in August.

Tour de Fat got its start in 1999 and is a "celebration of community through bicycles and beer," according to New Belgium. The event benefits local bike nonprofits and trails and supports bicycle education and advocacy.

On May 25, 2024, Paul Weller turns 66.

To celebrate, the former frontman for The Jam and The Style Council is releasing the appropriately-titled album “66” and hitting the road in support of the new record.

The tour, his first in North America since 2017, kicks off with concerts at Red Bank, NJ’s Hackensack Meridian Health Theater on Friday, Sept. 6 and Brooklyn’s Kings Theatre on Saturday, Sept. 7.

And while we can’t confirm whether Weller’s collaborators for his upcoming record — including Noel Gallagher , Primal Scream’s Bobby Gillespie, and Madness ‘ Suggs McPherson — will perform with him on tour, we do know the best way to find out is live.

If you can’t wait for the upcoming 14-concert trek, tickets can be secured for all shows as soon as today.

Ahead of the “66” album release, Weller has released a pair of singles this year.

First up, he dropped the three-minute “Soul Wandering” on Feb. 23. The track is a jaunty, folksy tune with inventive instrumentation simmering beneath the surface. Around one minute in, a backup singer joins Weller and the song kicks into high gear.

He followed that up with somehow simultaneously plaintive and uplifting “Rise Up Singing.”
