Searching for invitations for the bridal shower the first step to planning a fun event! Invitations always set the tone and show guests exactly what the theme is. If you love to DIY, you can definitely design the travel themed invitations yourself but there are a lot of platforms that can assist you with this as well!

Etsy has a huge marketplace of templates that you can easily edit and customize to the details of your party. Here are a few Etsy templates I found and love that’s travel themed!

Drink Flights

Drinks are a must no matter what kind of drinks you serve! It could be non-alcoholic or alcoholic but a drink flight is super cute when hosting a travel themed bridal shower! You could do a flight of 4 drinks and have paper airplanes on top! If non-alcoholic, tea, coffee, or fresh juice! If alcoholic, you could do beer, margaritas, wine etc!

Take Off Food Table Settings

Table arrangements really create that ambiance that everyone can feel. I remember seeing my venue go from plain to elevated when my caterers did the table settings. Having a map as a placemat is super cute and tying off the napkins with a luggage tag placeholder is so perfect! You could also do a nice centerpiece of gorgeous florals and other travel elements like polaroid cameras or sunglasses!

Travel Themed Food Spread

Now for one of the most favorite parts of attending events… the FOOD! The sky is the limit with this theme especially! You could do multi-cultural food bites and display a selection of different foods from many countries or you could do easy appetizers and give them creative names/food puns or even just stick some cute signs, maps/globes/plane food picks!

Map/Globe Decorations

When hosting a travel themed party, I hate to break it to you but the more maps and globes the better! Just when you think that it’s enough, it is not. Once you’ve decided on a color palette for the bridal shower/wedding, print some maps and buy some globes with the same colors and use them to decorate the space. You could hang them up or even just place them at different tables like games/gifts/favors areas!

Travel Themed Decorated treats

It is truly not a bridal shower without treats! You could buy travel themed cupcakes, cake pops, cookies etc. Having a beautifully decorated dessert table has been increasingly popular nowadays which I have been loving!

Not all brides want a cake at their bridal shower as some all go out on their wedding cake however, you can’t go wrong with cake! There are so many cute and simple cake designs that are travel themed you can find! Every time I search up travel themed cakes on Pinterest , I fall in love!

Travel Favors

Although favors are not a must and have been not as popular lately, they sure are cute! I absolutely love the luggage tag favors that I often see! Aside from this, if you’d like a more useful or perishable favor to give, you can give packaged treats like trail mix, boxed cupcakes/macarons etc!

Some people may think it’s cheesy but it is so fun having games at any party! You get to see your family and friends get creative, competitive and have a good laugh! There are lots of travel themed game packages that you can get some Etsy that are editable and are fairly inexpensive! Here are some of my favorites that I’ve found that are travel themed:

Welcome your guests to your bridal shower with a gorgeous themed welcome poster! A gorgeous and personalized poster starts your event off right and remind everyone that they are celebrating someone super special in their life! I absolutely adore the different templates you can get online however, it is super cute to design one yourself on a software like Canva too!

Travel Themed Photoshoot Area

Of course, to remember the bridal shower for years to come would be to take lots of photos! Having a photo shoot area so guests can take photos with the bride-to-be is the perfect addition to the event! Having phootshoot areas are awesome to have because guests are dressed up and looking beautiful so lots of photos are needed! Search up some inspo and use what you already have or hire a photoshoot company to set everything up for you!

To decorate these Falling in Love bridal shower cookies, you will want:

• 5 icing bags
• 3 Wilton #3 tips
• 2 Wilton #2 tips
• 2 Wilton “petal” tips: #102, #103, and/or #104, I used a #102 for both the red & yellow roses
• Leaf cookie cutter
• Heart cookie cutter
• Pumpkin cookie cutter – I used the round squash cutter in this set: 12Pcs Vegetables Cookie Cutter Set
• Yellow, orange, red, brown, and green buttercream frosting*
• Sugar cookie dough recipe
• Pointed knife to fix any errors
• Paper towel to wipe excess frosting off of the petal tips
• Parchment paper
• 1 Wilton flower nail, if you don’t know what this is or where to get one, you can purchase one here: Wilton Flower Nail

*Your buttercream frosting should, ideally, be a frosting that “crusts.” I use the Jenny Cookies recipe that you can find on her blog here: Jenny Cookies Buttercream Frosting

I prefer to use the Wilton gel food dye since gel is more vibrant (i.e. more cost effective because you use less) than liquid and doesn’t change the consistency of your frosting. You can get that here: Wilton Gel Coloring 12 Count .

You may be asking, “Where do I purchase all of these Wilton tips?” I recommend going to your local craft or bakery supply store and picking them up individually. If you prefer an online route, you can order them from Amazon, but Wilton.com is always cheaper when I’ve looked. If you don’t want to (or can’t) purchase this amount of each tip, you can also rinse each tip out between icing color changes and attach the tip using a coupler. Just make sure every icing bag has a coupler on it and you will be set to go. Purchasing a set of couplers is pretty affordable on Amazon: 4 Count Wilton Coupler Set . For this cookie set, you would want to purchase two of these coupler sets.

• Roll, cut out, and bake your sugar cookies according to your cookie dough recipe. You can probably make 3-4 of each design from these Falling in Love bridal shower cookies with your cookie dough.
• Set up your icing bags as follows: place your brown and green frosting each into their own bags, each with a Wilton #2 in it. Place your orange frosting into a bag with a Wilton #3 tip in it. You will be placing your red and yellow frostings into bags with couplers, attaching your petal tips to the bags first (#102, #103, or #104). If you aren’t sure how to do this, no worries, just hop over to my Getting Started: Learn How to Decorate Buttercream Cookies page.

Let’s do our roses first. I suggest having everything ready before you start piping – a piece of parchment paper, a paper towel nearby to wipe off the excess frosting from the tip between rose petals, your yellow frosting & red frosting, and a flower nail.

I suggest watching the video above first so that you can get an overall idea of what is about to happen! However, in the video, we create full size roses. For our pumpkins, you will want to resemble buds or somewhere between a bud and a full rose.

Note that the photos show orange roses. I just reused some photos from another post that used orange roses, so no need to worry! The biggest thing to remember is to take your time when creating the roses. If it makes you feel any better, this video is sped up to be twice as fast so that you didn’t have to watch a long video, you’re welcome!

• Place your rose bud onto a piece of parchment paper CAREFULLY. I just use a flat spatula to lift it off of the nail and place it onto parchment paper. You will want a couple roses per pumpkin cookie. Once your roses are all on parchment paper, place the parchment paper on a flat surface in the freezer. We will come back to these roses later.

Makes 18 cookies

For Cookies:

3/4 cup butter

1 cup packed brown sugar

1/4 cup molasses

2 1/4 cups all-purpose flour

1 tablespoon ground ginger

2 teaspoons baking soda

1/2 teaspoon kosher salt

1/2 cup chopped crystallized ginger

For 2 cups of icing

8-10 mint leaves

1 tablespoon lime zest (about 4 limes, zested)

1 tablespoon lime juice

1 tablespoon dark rum (optional)

2 drops green food coloring (optional)

2 egg whites

4 cups powdered sugar

In a large bowl, cream together the butter and brown sugar until smooth. Beat in the egg and molasses. In a separate bowl, combine the flour, ground ginger, baking soda, and salt; stir into the molasses mixture using a spatula until just combined. Gently mix in the crystallized ginger. Cover, and refrigerate dough for at least 2 hours, or overnight. In the meantime, get started on your royal icing.

In a blender or food processor, combine the mint leaves, lime zest, lime juice, rum (if using) and egg whites. Blend until the mint leaves are very finely chopped and the eggs are frothy. Add the mixer to a large bowl, and while beating with a whisk, add confectioners’ sugar gradually until sugar is incorporated and mixture is shiny. Beat harder until mixture forms stiff, glossy peaks. This should take approximately 5 to 7 minutes if using an electric mixture, twice that if by hand. Add food coloring, if desired. For immediate use, transfer icing to pastry bag or heavy duty storage bag and pipe as desired. Store in airtight container in refrigerator for up to 3 days.

Preheat oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C). Shape dough into 1 inch balls, and place about 2 inches apart onto ungreased cookie sheet.

Bake for 10 minutes in the preheated oven, or until lightly browned. Cool on wire racks completely.

To decorate, do simple zig zags of icing across the tops of the cookies. Let the cookies sit for 30 minutes for the icing to harden.

Pasha's christmas cookies.

• 1 cup butter
• 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
• 6 tablespoons powdered sugar
• 2 cups flour
• 1 cup chopped walnuts
• Cream butter and vanilla until smooth.
• Combine powdered sugar and flour; stir into the butter mixture.
• Mix in the chopped walnuts.
• Roll dough into 1 inch balls and place 2 inches apart on cookie sheet.
• Bake for 12 minutes @ 350 degrees F.
• When cool, roll in a second dusting of powdered sugar.

From About You Decor … Our design is a symbol of dawn and a distant endless horizon. Ahead is a long, happy life without any borders. An international couple, Pavel and Cherry, met in London and have been walking together for many years.

From the Bride, Cherry… My husband and I we decided to have our summer wedding in Moscow because the city is where his roots are. As we knew we were going to have the other wedding ceremony in China, we wanted our Moscow one to be very personal and intimate. We’ve known each other since we were fourteen, together with many of our friends whom we’ve also known for a decade.

I didn’t want to walk down the aisle twice so the plausibility of my request quickly came into discussion. The open pontoon stage was constructed in order to facilitate the bridal entrance on water, although there were concerns about safety as the last thing we wanted was probably a drowned bride before she could get on stage, picture that! I have to say on that day it wasn’t easy to get on the pontoon stage from the boat, in my long gown and high heels. Luckily my bridesmaids still noticed even though they stood the furthest from me on the stage, and helped me out without prior rehearsal. My girls could just tell whenever I needed a hand or maybe they were just so used to my clumsiness. Who knows 😂

We all love our photographer Julia! She’s so talented and her style is so unique. Our beloved host Alex is exceptional who made everyone laugh and cry. It was truly a blessing to have so many kind and beautiful souls on our big day. Thank you all!

I’m still not convinced this Moscow wedding, captured to perfection by  Sonya Khegay , isn’t actually an inspiration session—it’s just  that breathtaking. From Sonya Khegay … It was the last day of April and still very cold in the morning. The weather forecast wasn’t pleasing and no one expected that the sun would come out, but miracles happen and light rain gave way to the warm rays.

I love how all the details went together, you could feel the harmony in everything throughout the entire wedding day from the morning until the fireworks.

A gentle look of the bride, elegant but so airy and unique decor, the fresh and light atmosphere of early spring and, of course, true happiness in the eyes. My heart becomes so warm from these memories, it is always a pleasure to see the birth of a new family of two loving hearts.

You really can’t go wrong with simple: a beautiful Bride , perfectly pretty petals , loved ones all around. But add in an amazing firework show  to cap off the night and simple just became downright extraordinary. Captured by Lena Elisseva , with assistance by  Katya Butenko , this rustic Russian celebration is simply fantastic. From Lena Eliseeva Photo …  This cozy and warm summer wedding of gorgeous Natalia and Anton was in the middle of June. The young couple decided to organize their wedding themselves, and the day was very personal and touching. I am absolutely in love with rustic outdoor weddings, and this one is my favourite because of the free and easy atmosphere.

All the decor excluding the bride’s bouquet was made by a team of ten friends of the bride and groom. And it was charming – a light and beautiful arch, eco-style polygraphy and succulents, candy-bar with caramel apples and berries – sweet joys of summer.

At the end of ceremony the guests tossed up white handkerchiefs embroidered by Natalia’s own hands.

The most touching moment was the happy eyes of the groom’s grandmother, the most estimable person on the wedding. And the fireworks were a bright end to that beautiful day.

From Lena Kozhina … When we met with the couple for the first time, we immediately paid attention to Dima’s behavior towards Julia. There was a feeling of tenderness and awe, and we immediately wanted to recreate this atmosphere of love, care and warmth on their Big Day.

Later, when we had chosen a green meadow and an uncovered pavilion overlooking a lake as the project site, it only highlighted a light summer mood with colorful florals and a great number of natural woods. The name of the site is Fox Lodge and peach-orange color, as one of the Bride’s favorites, set the tone for the whole design – from the invitations, in which we used images of fox cubs to elements of serving guest tables and other decorative elements with the corresponding bright accents.
