Mein Schiff 2

Mein Schiff 2 was constructed by MEYER TURKU and delivered to TUI Cruises in January 2019. It’s the sixth new cruise ship in the TUI Cruises fleet – the entire series was built in the Finnish city of Turku.

The new series features around 180 additional staterooms, increasing the total number of passengers to 2,894 – and 90% of them can enjoy the luxury of an outside cabin with a sea view.

There are even more changes to note: The 438-metre running track on Mein Schiff 1 and Mein Schiff 2 is significantly longer than on the previous ships, and the gym and spa areas are also bigger. The arena with the sports court and climbing wall has also been fully covered for the first time. It’s plain to see the ocean liners in the Mein Schiff fleet are true sport and wellness ships.

Another new feature is the “Schaubühne”, an auditorium for speeches and concerts. Passengers can now choose from a wider selection of suite categories, presenting more diversity in the choice of cabins.

At the same time, however, some tried and tested elements have been kept, such as the 25-metre outdoor pool and the “Diamant Bar” behind the diamond-shaped glass façade at the stern of the ship.

The new fleet is setting environmental standards with its cutting-edge technology. All engines are fitted with catalytic converters, and a desulphurisation system is used to reduce nitrogen oxide emissions.

In January 2019 Mein Schiff 2 put into service. Together with Mein Schiff 1, the cruise ship represents a new, larger generation of ships from Hamburg's TUI Cruises. More cabins and suites

The new Mein Schiff 2 has a total of 1.447 cabins and suites. Opposite to Mein Schiff 6 , the last new building in the previous class of ship, this is an increase of 180 cabins and suites. The shipping company differentiates between 18 cabin and suite categories.

The new Mein Schiff 2 and its sister ship use a combined exhaust aftertreatment system in continuous operation. This technology helps to significantly reduce nitrogen oxide emissions, especially in coastal and port areas.

Other effective measures to save energy are: an effective energy management system, an innovative light control system, highly efficient air conditioning, the hydrodynamic hull shape of the ship and environmentally friendly underwater paintwork. Energy is not wasted: the waste heat from the engines is used, for example, to heat the pools and to generate steam in the laundry.

However, TUI Cruises is only using the more environmentally friendly and low-emission fuel LNG liquefied natural gas for the two newbuilds announced for 2024 and 2026.

Rating of Mein Schiff 2

The new Mein Schiff 2 is the last of the current seven-ship fleet. With the sixth new building in a row, the Hamburg shipping company is presenting a successful and presentable cruise ship .

There is no doubt: the new Mein Schiff 2 is a cruise ship for demanding and quality-conscious German-speaking cruisers. Passengers who choose this ship can rightly have high expectations of the shipping company's new flagship and the service it offers.

Speaking of service: According to our observations, there is still a little lack of service in some restaurant areas. We expect that these weaknesses will soon be a thing of the past.

Children are unique and lovable. It took some getting used to, however, that we were traveling with 250 toddlers and toddlers. German cruise ship, Mein Schiff 2, sails with 1,200 people on board in first return voyage

The German cruise line TUI Cruises has restarted operations with its “Mein Schiff 2” sailing for the first time since the industry was shut down because of the coronavirus, with 1,200 people on board.

“Mein Schiff 2” — “My Ship 2”— set sail for a weekend cruise in the North Sea on Friday night, the dpa news agency reported.

Occupancy was limited to 60% so passengers can keep their distance. There were 1,200 people on board compared to the ship’s normal 2,900 capacity. The ship sailed from the port of Hamburg toward Norway, and passengers will spend the weekend at sea with no land stops before returning to Germany on Monday.

TUI's Instagram account for the ship posted an image on social media ahead of its departure. 

"Today it finally starts again," TUI wrote in the caption of the post, translated from German. "Mein Schiff 2 is ready and so are we."

Onboard, passengers and crew are required to stay 5 feet away or wear protective masks and won’t serve themselves at the ship’s buffet. All passengers filled out a health questionnaire before boarding and had temperature checks.

After being shut down for months, German cruise ship companies hope shorter, strictly controlled trips will help restart the business.

In June, TUI Cruises' parent company,  TUI Group, announced it would restart some holiday operations during the summer in Germany, the Netherlands, Switzerland and Belgium. At the time, the company said it expected to operate at 30% of its full capacity. They noted they had "implemented comprehensive health and safety protocols on board" and that TUI Cruises planned to resume operations for three to four-day cruises during the summer in the North and Baltic seas with reduced capacity. They noted that the two other TUI group subsidiary lines, Hapag-Lloyd Cruises and Marella Cruises, were also expected to resume operations sometime this summer, later announcing Hapag-Lloyd would resume towards the end of July.

Like TUI Cruises, German cruise line AIDA, a Carnival Corp. subsidiary, has announced plans to restart operations in August. 

"We are taking a measured approach with a few initial ships within our AIDA line in Germany," Roger Frizzell, Carnival Corp. spokesperson, told USA TODAY. "We have been leveraging medical and science advisors, but this will helps us gain additional insight with the initial protocols being put in place."

AIDA's first ship to hit the high seas once again will be its AIDAperla, which will sail from Hamburg on Aug. 5, according to a release shared by Frizzell. 

A week after AIDAperla makes her return, AIDAmar will sail from the Baltic port of Warnemünde near Rostock on Aug. 12. AIDAblu will follow on Aug. 16, sailing from Kiel. Bookings for the three sailings were opened to the public on Thursday.

To ensure passengers' onboard safety, AIDA worked with authorities to create new health standards including regional and national government authorities in Germany, that country's public health institute and the World Health Organization, according to Frizzell. The revamped health protocol begins during the booking process, through preparation for cruising, and continues through embarkation, the voyage, disembarkation and the return of passengers to their homes. 

"We have been consulting and assembling the best minds in medical science, public health and infectious disease control," Frizzell added.

The AIDA health protocol will be in accordance with the  EU Healthy Gateways guidance .

TUI Mein Schiff 2 cruise ship deck plan shows a total of 1447 cabins for 2534 passengers (max capacity is 2894) served by 1000 crew/staff. The boat has 14 passenger-accessible decks (out of 16 total, 10 with cabins), 12 restaurants and bistros, 15 bars and lounges, 20500 m2 (220700 ft2) outdoor deck space, large wellness complex (total size 2400 m2 / 25800 ft2), 2 swimming pools (1 covered), 4 outdoor Jacuzzis, 10 elevators.

The ship’s design makers list features renowned companies, such as Wilson Butler Architects (deck areas, public spaces, theatre, concert hall), CM Design (interior/public areas, cruise cabins, restaurants, entertainment venues), Tillberg Design (interior). TUI Schiff 2 cruise rooms were pre-manufactured by STX Finland Cabins.

Complimentary dining options (included in all TUI Schiff 2 cruise deals) are Atlantik (Klassik, Brasserie, Mediterran), Anckelmannsplatz, GOSCH Sylt, Backstube, Tag & Nacht, Eis Bar, Osteria (pizzeria). At additional charge are the specialty restaurants Surf & Turf, Richards, Hanami (Asian), Schmankerl-Entspannt (Austrian).

In October 2017, the first steel block of the Mein Schiff 2, which replaces its predecessor of the same name since the beginning of 2019, was laid on the Meyer Turku shipyard. Latest technology, state-of-the-art equipment and environmentally friendly construction characterize the new member of the Mein Schiff fleet. With about 315 meters, the Mein Schiff 2 is about 20 meters longer than the existing new ships. In addition to accommodating up to 2,894 passengers the ship also offers a larger selection of staterooms and suites.

The main onboard language is German.The atmosphere is relaxed - similar to an upscale club hotel. Especially middle-aged guests feel very comfortable on board. But also families are increasingly on board the ship during the holidays. In particular, the guests appreciate the informal atmosphere, the possibilities to be active in sports, and the variety of catering facilities. With the "Premium Inclusive Services" concept almost all food and drinks as well as the gratuities are already included. At this point TUI Cruises differs significantly from most of the other cruise lines.

Mein Schiff 2 Entertainment, Sports and Relaxation

There are numerous changing events, from acrobatics through musical shows to magic deposits or comedy shows. A whole team of about 50 singers, dancers and acrobats will enchant you. And if you want to dance the night away the DJ is waiting for you... For those who would like to do some sports a large fitness area leaves nothing to be desired. TUI also offers lots of sporting excursions on board. You may join unusual mountain bike tours, paddle boat tours or go scuba-diving and snorkeling. Boredom has no chance aboard the Mein Schiff 2.

Een dag op zee of een dag op land maakt tijdens een cruise op de  Mein Schiff 2 eigenlijk niet uit. Er is zoveel te doen. Begin de dag met een kop koffie op je balkon. Elke dag start met een ander uitzicht. Voor het ontbijt is het heerlijk om buiten je rondes te rennen op de joggingtrack. Ga van boord met één van de excursies van de rederij of verken de bestemmingen zelf. Wist je dat er speciale excursies zijn voor gezinnen met bijvoorbeeld een speurtocht aan wal? Terug aan boord is het lekker relaxen in je hut of ga naar de Überschau bar. Dit is wellicht de mooiste plek om te zijn terwijl het schip vertrekt naar de volgende bestemming: het uitzicht is onbetaalbaar. Bij Mein Schiff  bepaal je zelf hoe je dag er uit ziet. Dat is pas vakantie!

Mein Schiff 2, het nieuwste schip van TUI Cruises, is op 10 februari 2019 in de haven van Lissabon gedoopt. Met haar 315 meter is dit schip, samen met Mein Schiff 1, 20 meter langer en 1 dek hoger dan de andere Mein Schiff-schepen. Het schip biedt aan bijna 2900 mensen plaats en met maar liefst 12 restaurants en 15 bars/lounges kom je op culinair gebied niets tekort en heb je het voor het kiezen.

Goedemorgen! Ontbijt lekker in het buffetrestaurant of haal een croissantje bij de bakkerij. Wil je een gezonde start van de dag? De sapbar biedt vele gezonde opties.

Eet tussen de middag een broodje kebab bij de snackbar, een broodje bij de bistro of eet uitgebreid bij het buffetrestaurant. Zoek je meer verkoeling? Bij de Eisbar is een ruime keuze aan heerlijk ijs.

Na een lange dag is het genieten van een heerlijk diner. Er is een ruime keuze, zodat je elke dag weer een verrassing op jouw bord hebt. Vandaag 5 gangen i.p.v. 3? Geen probleem, bestel waar je trek in hebt of graag een keer wilt proberen. Van de Mediterrane keuken tot aan het uitgebreide buffet. Voor ieders smaak is er iets lekkers.

Specialty dining

In 5 specialiteitenrestaurants kun je tegen een meerprijs genieten van de meest heerlijke gerechten. In het Esszimmer restaurant waan je jezelf in een huiselijke sfeer. Hier worden met veel liefde en detail de gerechten voor je klaargemaakt. Als je houdt van een mooi stuk vlees of vis kun je terecht bij Surf & Turf. Maak de avond compleet met een bijpassende wijn van de uitgebreide kaart.

Bars & lounge

Na het diner kun je voor een gezellige avond terecht in één van de sfeer- en stijlvolle bars en lounges. Het schip telt maar liefst vijftien bars en lounges waar je kunt kiezen voor een biertje, een goed glas wijn of een fruitige cocktail om de avond mee af te sluiten. Wanneer je in de avond een adembenemend uitzicht over zee wilt zien, bezoek je de Hoheluft Bar. En het leukste is nog wel: dit is allemaal inbegrepen!

Een cruise met de kids

Cruisen alleen voor volwassenen? Welnee, er is aan boord zoveel te doen voor kinderen. Voor de allerkleinste is er een babykamer met uren speelplezier. In de kinderclub heeft de piraat Cap't Sharky het roer overgenomen. Maak het pirateneiland onveilig met de mascotte en beleef talloze avonturen! Vanaf 12 jaar is er een tienerlounge waar de ouders buiten moeten blijven. Neem deel aan een leuke workshop of speel een spelletje.

Kom tot rust bij SPA & meer. Dit is een paradijs voor een verwenmoment. Wist je dat je gratis gebruik kunt maken van de sauna’s en stoombaden? Ook wordt er tegen een kleine meerprijs verschillende behandelingen aangeboden zodat je je weer als herboren voelt. Zo ben je klaar voor een nieuwe dag!

De Mein Schiff 2 is voorzien van verschillende sportmogelijkheden. Wanneer je de dag sportief wilt beginnen of afsluiten kun je naar de ruim opgezette fitnessruimte op dek 15, ingericht met moderne apparatuur. Liever sporten in de buitenlucht? Ook dat kan, op het jogging pad van maar liefst 438 meter kun je jezelf op de proef stellen. In de avond heeft de baan fluorescerende accenten zodat je veilig een rondje kunt rennen.

Activiteiten

Er is genoeg te beleven voor jong en oud aan boord van de Mein Schiff 2. Voor de jongste gasten zijn er speciale ruimtes ingericht, voor zowel kleine kinderen als tieners. Drink zelf een overheerlijke cocktail in één van de stijlvolle bars, waag een gokje in het casino óf bezoek het theater aan boord van de Mein Schiff 2 en laat je verrassen door klassieke concerten, rockshows én verbazingwekkende magie!

Mein Schiff 4 erreichte Bremerhaven – Sommersaison 2024 eingeläutet

Mein Schiff 4 ist in der aktuellen Sommersaison 2024 für mehrere Monate in Bremerhaven stationiert

Die Mein Schiff 4 von TUI Cruises hat in den heutigen frühen Morgenstunden die nordwestdeutsche Hafenstadt Bremerhaven erreicht, wo das Kreuzfahrtschiff von nun an bis September für eine Sommersaison auf Nord- und Westeuropa-Kreuzfahrten stationiert ist. Ebenso ist auch die Mein Schiff 3 regelmäßiger Gast in Bremerhaven.

Beim ersten Gästewechsel auf der Mein Schiff 4 am Columbus Cruise Center in diesem Jahr haben die Gäste einer Westeuropa-Kreuzfahrt von Palma de Mallorca nach Deutschland das Schiff mit dem Indienststellungsjahr Jahr 2015 verlassen.

Zum Auftakt der Sommersaison findet eine elftägige Westeuropa-Kreuzfahrt mit Zielen in Spanien, Portugal, Frankreich und Belgien statt. Im Anschluss sind zahlreiche Reisen mit norwegischen Destinationen geplant – dort wird Mein Schiff 4 durch die bekannte Fjordwelt steuern und auch Kurs auf Nordnorwegen nehmen. Das nördlichste Ziel des Schiffes ist das Nordkap.

In der zurückliegenden Wintersaison war die Mein Schiff 4 in der Karibik unterwegs. Im kommenden Winter 2024/2025 wird das TUI Cruises-Schiff nicht dorthin zurückkehren, sondern im Orient eingesetzt.

Mein Schiff 7: Buchungsstart für die Taufreise des neuen Flottenmitglieds

Mit dem Thema „Der siebte Himmel auf See“ wird der Mein Schiff 7 während der Taufreise vom 21. bis 23. Juni 2024 feierlich der Name verliehen. Die Taufpatin, Umweltoffizierin Fenia Kalachani, kommt aus den eigenen Reihen des Hamburger Kreuzfahrtunternehmens und steht stellvertretend für die gesamte Mein Schiff Crew – an Bord und an Land. Die Taufreise durch die Dänische Südsee ist ab sofort buchbar. „Wir sind auf der Zielgeraden und freuen uns darauf, die Mein Schiff 7 gemeinsam mit der Crew und unseren Gästen zu taufen. Auf der Mein Schiff 7 werden wir mit den neuen Konzepten begeistern und unvergessliche Wohlfühl-Kreuzfahrten mit vielen Highlights bieten“, sagt Wybcke Meier, CEO TUI Cruises.

Das jüngste Flottenmitglied ist ein Schwesterschiff der Mein Schiff 1 und Mein Schiff 2 und wird derzeit in der finnischen Meyer Werft in Turku gebaut. Genau wie die gesamte Mein Schiff Flotte verspricht auch der Neubau den Gästen ein ganz besonderes Wohlfühlgefühl sowie Premiumreisen auf allerhöchstem Niveau. Eine Neuheit auf der Mein Schiff 7 sind die Kabinenkategorien für Alleinreisende: 12 Einzelkabinen Außen und 14 Einzelkabinen Innen bieten individuellen Freiraum mit viel Stauraum und einzigartiger Wohlfühlatmosphäre.

Kulinarisch auf Wolke 7 mit der neuen Mein Schiff 7

Mit dem neuen Café Central auf Deck 5 kommt ein Konzept an Bord der Mein Schiff 7, das Genuss und Entspannung auf eine einzigartige Weise verbindet. In der Großen Freiheit der Mein Schiff 7, entsteht das exklusive Asia & Sushi Restaurant Hideki, in dem die Gäste mittags und abends in die Genusswelt Asiens eintauchen und den Sushi-Meistern am offenen Tresen, in der Mitte des Restaurants, beim Zaubern wunderbarer Variationen zuschauen können. Ein Material-Mix aus polierten Oberflächen und warmem Holz gibt diesem besonderen Ort eine moderne und gleichzeitig gemütliche Atmosphäre.

Hochwertig mediterran erscheint das neue italienische Restaurant La Spezia, mit Spezialitäten der Spitzenklasse. Meerblick, Holzfußboden, moderne Farben und viel Sonnenlicht, das durch die großen Panoramafenster auf Deck 4 der Großen Freiheit einfällt, sorgen für eine lebendige Atmosphäre. Dank mediterranen Deko-Elementen auf den Tischen und dem Duft von frischer Pizza und Pasta werden die Gäste in das italienische Lebensgefühl eintauchen. Zum Abschluss eines kulinarischen Genussabends oder zum Anstoßen auf die Wohlfühlreise können sich die Gäste dann auf einen neu gestalteten Bereich freuen: Über eine Wendeltreppe aus der Großen Freiheit oder direkt über Deck 6 gelangen die Gäste zum neuen Champagner Treff.

Nach der Taufreise wird die Mein Schiff 7 am 23. Juni 2024 wieder im Hafen der schleswig-holsteinischen Landeshauptstadt festmachen und zu ihrer ersten großen Reise Richtung Norwegen aufbrechen. Das jüngste Flottenmitglied fährt in seiner ersten Sommersaison ab/bis Kiel Richtung Nordland und ab Mitte August ab/bis Warnemünde auf verschiedenen Ostsee-Reisen.

Die 2-tägige Taufreise der Mein Schiff 7 ab/bis Kiel vom 21. bis 23. Juni 2024 gibt es ab 699 Euro pro Person in einer Balkonkabine, bei Doppelbelegung im PRO-Tarif und 899 Euro in einer Einzelkabine Außen im PRO-Tarif mit den Mein Schiff Premium-Inklusivleistungen.
