UM students at the University of Limerick; visit made possible by the Erasmus+ Staff Mobility Programme

  • In Students
  • 09:23, 15 Apr 2024

university of limerick school tour

Two University of Malta students, Ms Stephanie Dimech and Ms Milica Cirneanu, just returned from four days of intensive Erasmus Staff Training mobility and the University of Limerick in Ireland between 2 to 5 April 2024.

The training Staff program consisted of different daily meetings from 09:00 until 15:00, meeting administrative staff working in the Erasmus office, Undergraduate Recruitment Manager, Student Records Officer, Ms Katie Daly and job shadowing two days in a row Ms Mary Hurley and Mary Ryan from the School of Modern Languages & Applied Linguistics and Mr Jordan MacQuarrie from the Erasmus Projects team.

“My most favourite part was getting to know the University Campus with a 1 1/2 hour tour including different faculties, main library, students dormitories, Rector's (president at UL) office, but also to learn about their annual tradition of planting a tree (park of connected trees) which is done by a cohort of graduates and considered part of their internal sustainable development”, Milica told Newspoint.

The overall objectives of this mobility were to meet new colleagues working in the same academic environment, transfer knowledge and processes, acquire practical skills but also discover and implement new ideas in our daily work routine.

It was an extraordinary opportunity for the two students to be engaged in an international and intercultural job exchange that will improve and strengthen administrative support for UM students, and better work quality in favour of students and academic staff.

“This incredible work experience would not have been possible without the great support received from the University of Malta Erasmus Team throughout the entire mobility process”, Milica concluded.
