Travel Assist 1

Part of the iq.drive safety-enhancing and intelligent technologies.

The Travel Assist feature is a semi-automated driving assistant that blends the functions of Adaptive Cruise Control and Lane Keep Assist to help your Volkswagen maintain a safe distance from the vehicle ahead and keeps you centered in the lane.

Reduce driver workload and fatigue

Supports driver steering, braking, and accelerating

The Travel Assist feature in your Volkswagen combines Adaptive Cruise Control with Lane Assist to help maintain the vehicle 's position within the lane. When activated, it provides the driver with steering assistance , braking, and acceleration support.

This feature allows the vehicle to maintain a predetermined distance from the vehicle in front and stay centered in the lane within the system's limitations. It utilizes adaptive lane guidance to regulate the vehicle 's speed and steering, providing a comfortable driving experience .

Assists in emergency situations

Helps prevent collisions caused by driver inactivity or medical emergencies

When Travel or Lane Assist is active and something serious happens where you lose the ability to drive, Emergency Assist helps safely bring the vehicle to a stop and will contact assistance for you.

The ins and outs of  travel assist

How it works

Designed to prevent fatigue on long highway trips, Travel Assist combines Adaptive Cruise Control and Lane Assist to help keep your vehicle centered in its lane, and maintain a preset distance from the vehicle ahead. Uses steering, braking and acceleration.

Instructions

  • To activate, engage Adaptive Cruise Control and then switch to Travel Assist by pressing the ACC button on steering wheel. If Travel Assist is activated, a green indicator light will show in your digital cockpit.
  • To set the speed, accelerate to the desired speed and press the SET button on the steering wheel.
  • To deactivate, press the brake pedal. To resume, press the RES button on the steering wheel.
  • To switch back to Adaptive Cruise Control, press the ACC button again on the steering wheel.

Limitations

  • Both hands must be on the steering wheel.
  • Braking force is limited. If additional emergency braking is needed, Front Assist may intervene.
  • The following situations can disable the system:
  • Damage to, misalignment of or blockage of the sensor.
  • Towing heavy trailers or carrying heavy cargo in the rear of the vehicle , which can elevate the front of the vehicle and change sensor angles.
  • To keep you centered in the lane, the vehicle must be able to detect clear road markings; if the markings are clear, the green indicator light in your digital cockpit will include green lanes.
  • Designed to detect vehicles that are moving in the same direction of travel; does not react to oncoming or intersecting vehicles .
  • System may not keep the vehicle in the lane in the following conditions:
  • Poor weather conditions.
  • Unclear lane markings.
  • Driving below 35 miles per hour.
  • Driving on a narrow curve.
  • You must be driving above a minimum speed to activate the system. For some models the minimum speed is 15 mph; for others, it is 20 mph.
  • Only reacts to objects within the sensor’s line of sight; some vehicles such as those depicted below are not detected until they are within the sensor’s line of sight.
  • Once activated, system only operates between 0 and 95 mph.
  • The following situations can lead to unwanted braking:
  • Damage to or misalignment of the sensor or sensor mounting.
  • Sensor blockage, which can be caused by ice/snow buildup, dirt, mud or leaves.
  • Towing heavy trailers or carrying heavy cargo in the rear of the vehicle , which can elevate the front of the vehicle and change sensor angles.
  • Curvature in the road.

Hey guys just got my car 12 days ago and today after I pumped gas I got the yellow light for Travel assist is currently not available and all the buttons on my steering wheel are not working. I ran through what the manual said to do but no luck getting my steering wheel buttons to work the background light to them are still working but the haptic feedback is not working has anyone had this issue? I’m probably just gonna bring the car back to the dealer.

Hi ShadowblueTurk Hate to say it but sounds like it's welcome to VW's buggy software or / and hardware. I don't have a GTi but here's a list of errors and messages that have appeared on my European 2ltr Diesel Mk8 model. Never had a problem with the steering wheel but then mine doesn't have those haptic touch buttons. After the latest dealer visit (pre Christmas) most of these have not re-occured, those highlighted are still popping up. VW just doesn't seem to have a reliable solution. There's a promised major software update due this year but AFAIK it's only for the infotainment system. Keep in touch and I have no doubt you will be getting similar messages from other forum members. Great car let down by these software issues. Error: Park Distance Control Rear Traffic Alert is currently unavailable Manoeuvre braking currently unavailable Hill Start Assist is unavailable Error: Auto Hold Error: start/stop system Travel Assist is currently unavailable Front Assist is currently unavailable. Sensor Impaired Radio/Media Sorry, this function is curently unavailable. Please wait Check rear RHS brake light (There was nothing wrong with it)

jkGTI2022 said: I've owned my 2022 for 6 months now and frankly, ready to get rid of this car due to the constant Travel Assist and Emergency Assist not available notifications that keep binging and binging while driving. I live in New England so I have to deal with ****ty weather everyday, so the whole clean the sensor thing off doesn't fly. This car is almost un-ownable up here. Anyone have luck with a lemon law return due to these issues? Dealer doesn't seem to know what they are doing when it comes to fixing the problem.. .issues started right back up a day after I had it in for service last week. This is my 3rd VW and it's breaking my heart because I'm ready to disassociate from the brand...feel like I flushed $40k down the drain. Click to expand...

I'm at my wits end. The dealer has ordered a new steering wheel, but said it's not in production and they have no idea how long I will have to put up with this. On Thursday my steering wheel buttons were replaced in hopes it would fix both the audio issues and Travel assist issues, but now 5 of the steering wheel buttons are not working and not lighting up, and the rest of the buttons are not responding to the dimming of the screen so they are essentially just bright white lights shining in my eyes at night. After countless visits, and steering wheel buttons replaced and not fixing the problem a steering wheel has been ordered and is backordered with no ETA. I'm opening a case with VW to get out of it. Been an annoying 10 months with this car, perhaps time for a Cross Sport.

Yeah mine is going to the dealer in 2 weeks for this. Annoying as hell. Started roughly a 5k miles and sometimes it goes on non stop. Other times it just displays it with a yellow triangle error thingy. Sometimes it’s good, Probably be good when I bring it the dealer and act up when I leave with my luck. love the car but this sucks

My '22 GTI went to the dealer today for the emergency assist & travel assist lights coming on randomly... It's one of the affected by the TPI they released and needs a new wheel. They told me VW US will not let them give the cars back to customers as it's a safety risk (apparently) to drive it. I would think it's more a risk of getting sued if there is a crash. I am in a loaner now for AT LEAST 2 months as that's how long the wait is for the wheels. The dealership has a bunch of Tiguans waiting for wheels, i am the first Golf.....

Touring the Top 10 Moscow Metro Stations

By Claudia Looi 2 Comments

Komsomolskaya metro station

Komsomolskaya metro station looks like a museum. It has vaulted ceilings and baroque decor.

Hidden underground, in the heart of Moscow, are historical and architectural treasures of Russia. These are Soviet-era creations – the metro stations of Moscow.

Our guide Maria introduced these elaborate metro stations as “the palaces for the people.” Built between 1937 and 1955, each station holds its own history and stories. Stalin had the idea of building beautiful underground spaces that the masses could enjoy. They would look like museums, art centers, concert halls, palaces and churches. Each would have a different theme. None would be alike.

The two-hour private tour was with a former Intourist tour guide named Maria. Maria lived in Moscow all her life and through the communist era of 60s to 90s. She has been a tour guide for more than 30 years. Being in her 60s, she moved rather quickly for her age. We traveled and crammed with Maria and other Muscovites on the metro to visit 10 different metro stations.

To Maria, every street, metro and building told a story. I couldn’t keep up with her stories. I don’t remember most of what she said because I was just thrilled being in Moscow.   Added to that, she spilled out so many Russian words and names, which to one who can’t read Cyrillic, sounded so foreign and could be easily forgotten.

The metro tour was the first part of our all day tour of Moscow with Maria. Here are the stations we visited:

1. Komsomolskaya Metro Station  is the most beautiful of them all. Painted yellow and decorated with chandeliers, gold leaves and semi precious stones, the station looks like a stately museum. And possibly decorated like a palace. I saw Komsomolskaya first, before the rest of the stations upon arrival in Moscow by train from St. Petersburg.

2. Revolution Square Metro Station (Ploshchad Revolyutsii) has marble arches and 72 bronze sculptures designed by Alexey Dushkin. The marble arches are flanked by the bronze sculptures. If you look closely you will see passersby touching the bronze dog's nose. Legend has it that good luck comes to those who touch the dog's nose.

4. Biblioteka Imeni Lenina Metro Station was built in 1935 and named after the Russian State Library. It is located near the library and has a big mosaic portrait of Lenin and yellow ceramic tiles on the track walls.

7. Kurskaya Metro Station was one of the first few to be built in Moscow in 1938. It has ceiling panels and artwork showing Soviet leadership, Soviet lifestyle and political power. It has a dome with patriotic slogans decorated with red stars representing the Soviet's World War II Hall of Fame. Kurskaya Metro Station is a must-visit station in Moscow.
