Epitaph announces Warped Tour 2006 plans & line-ups!

(Epitaph, Los Angeles) The biggest event of the summer for over a decade, the Vans WARPED TOUR has once again tapped some of Epitaph’s biggest and best bands to create a one-of-a-kind musical event. Beginning on June 15th and running through August 13th, the 2006 WARPED TOUR will feature five Epitaph bands, including three on the coveted main stages for the whole tour.

Exploding onto the main stage for the first time this summer, FROM FIRST TO LAST are defying convention and defining rock for a new scene. Currently touring in support of their addictive new release Heroine, FROM FIRST TO LAST are killing it night after night on the Fall Out Boy tour, and will be primed and ready to bring their unbelievably intense live show to Warped ’06.

Also spending their summer on the main stage is MOTION CITY SOUNDTRACK, whose synth-pop perfection is guaranteed to get the crowd dancing. Their latest CD, the stellar Commit This To Memory and their sold-out headlining spring tour have been stunning old fans and winning new MCS converts across the country.

Finally, Warped Tour vets the BOUNCING SOULS will be shredding the main stage with their own raucous brand of east coast punk rock. With a heart-felt new record, The Gold Record, dropping June 6th, the BOUNCING SOULS are sure to be a big crowd pleaser again this year.

In addition to the main stage acts, Epitaph is proud to announce the Warped Tour debuts of I AM GHOST and ESCAPE THE FATE, two fantastic label newcomers. I AM GHOST will be blowing minds with their unique dark brand of classically driven hardcore, while Las Vegas’s most remarkable hard rock / screamo band, ESCAPE THE FATE, will be recruiting legions of loyal fans at every stop.

The 2006 WARPED TOUR promises to be the best ever, and Epitaph is pleased to once again play a part in bringing the best new music to the starving masses.

While certainly not a metal tour, the 2006 Vans Warped Tour does feature a handful of relevant bands including Bullet For My Valentine, Underoath, From Autumn To Ashes and headliners Helmet.

Billboard.com reports: The 2006 Vans Warped Tour will feature performances by AFI, Saves The Day, Against Me, Helmet, Less Than Jake, Say Anything, Senses Fail, Joan Jett and the Blackhearts, the Academy Is, Underoath, the Living End and, as previously reported, Rise Against, Thursday, Motion City Soundtrack, From First To Last and NOFX.

3. The Omen writes:

This tour sucks!

4. Kingspade writes:

I think im gunna end up going, some good bands on the line up...f*** up some gay a$$ kids...the tickets are cheap enough, and Thursday is good as hell. But some of these bands are terrible Underoath, Motion City Soundtrack, and From First to Last...i just cant stand them.

5. sevenchurches writes:

this is a breeding ground for emo kids and posers

helmet is the only good band and they only have one good album (MEANTIME)

6. Opeth Suck!!! writes:

For those of you actually going to this sh** are f***ing gay as hell. I don't give a sh** if this bullsh** concert was a dollar there's no way I would go to it. Not a bad line-up? ur gay as hell!!! lol

7. Rulin Kmadd writes:

8. Heretic writes:

at least its better than last year...my god, last year was horrible

10. RememberMetal? writes:

NOFX, Less than Jake and AFI have my respect just for bringing something new to a stale genre.

From Authumn to Ashes have to be the most technical, heavy, interesting and least punk band on the bill....Senses Fail are snotty little elitist punks though so f*** them....And Saves the Day is emo bullsh** garbage that makes Weezer sound like the best band ever....

Every other band on the tour falls somewhere between decent and total whale sh**.

11. BLACKDOG writes:

If I show up it would be to see HELMET & that's IT !!!!

12. JT writes:

Helmet...it's almost worth it just for them. NOFX were pioneers in modern punk...and put on quite a good show...and c'mon...Joan Jett and the Blackhearts...who doesn't want to hold their lighters up to "Crimson and Clover" or pump their fist in the air to "I Love Rock n' Roll?" Hmmmm...did Joan Jett ever have a hit that wasn't a cover? (just a small knock on her...because in actuality she is quite a good guitar player...Dave Mustaine called her the female Chuck Berry). Anyway...I'm not saying I would go...but I could see myself hanging out for a few bands on that list. Yeah, yeah, yeah...I know that makes me suck...and I guess I'll have to live with that.

13. heavy hepp writes:

ok this is bullsh**. why is their news about the warped tour on a site called METAL UNDERGROUND. I dont give a sh** about warped tour. Bullet for my valentine and from autumn to ashes should'nt even be considered metal.

14. sevenchurches writes:

the only metal band there is helmet

15. Kingspade writes:

Whatever Bullet For My Valentine is terrible, and Saves The Day isnt emo their indie f.y.i. But idk im still up in the air on this, if i have the money and i dont have work that day ill probobly go for the few good bands playing.

16. DDAMM writes:

This sh** is why there are so many p***ies whining about how much their lives suck. Get over it and raise some hell you half-punk p***ies. Getcha pull and f*** something up at a real concert like the Unholy Alliance. BLOOD AND METAL b****es.

17. silly emo kids writes:

i wonder how many razor blades and wet hankys will be in the trash at the end?

OK, for the reading imparied (or those who can't get past the headline), I prefaced teh articles with this: "While certainly not a metal tour, the 2006 Vans Warped Tour does feature a handful of relevant bands including Bullet For My Valentine, Underoath, From Autumn To Ashes and headliners Helmet." That's why it's on here. Clearly not for the rest of the band on the bill.

23. bradispissed writes:

ok sir i know you run the site but....for the metal impaired (imparied i think is a fencing term jackass)

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia Jump to: navigation, search Warped Tour LogoWarped Tour is a touring punk music and extreme sports festival. The skateboarding shoe manufacturer Vans has sponsored the tour every year since 1995, so it is often referred to as the Vans Warped Tour.

from autum to ashes: emocore/screamo/ridiculous underoath=every other hardcore crossover killswitch wannabe bullet for my valentine=sh** helmet= ok i'll give you helmet is pretty cool

but most of these bands arent relevent to metal whatsoever

24. Metal Slug writes:

I remember about 10 years ago when this tour was ok when Deftones was headlinin. What the silly f*** is going on with this tour now-a-days?Bullet for my f***in Valentine? Why is Helmet even considering being in the same as area as these other fags?? f*** it!

25. Kingspade writes:

I agree with you completely, in fact I was just about to dring that up....what happened to like you know good bands on warped tour like Sublime, grant it they're not a band anymore R.I.P. Brad Nowell (what do u want they're one of my favorite bands lol)...but honestly this line-up is sh!t.

In a post that was quickly deleted by Dave Mustaine on the MEGADETH Message Board, the following was posted: Droogies!

I am very, very, VERY happy to announce that I have finally decided on the final line-up for this year's Gigantour! I know you Droogs have been going ape-sh** with lists and such, and I have been paying attention! And as you all know, I found God recently as well. In the past, I did something stupid; I refused to play on the same bill as a band of current devil worshipers. It was a foolish thing to do, and as of now, I am now putting that behind me! Regardless or religion, I have picked this year's Gigantour line-up of the best of the best! Yeah, a lot of other bands are tied up with other tours and such, but this is going to be a great tour!

Main Stage: MEGADETH VENOM ANTHRAX DIAMOND HEAD

Second Stage: OVERKILL TESTAMENT AMEN

This is going to be a great tour and I and the rest of the bands can't wait to see you on The Killing Road!

50. RED Power Ranger writes:

Underoath, Bullet for my Valentine, and From Autumn to Ashes all sound exactly the same. Even an admission of $20 is too much. I wouldn't even go to see it if it was free. At least we all know that the Gigantour tour is going to be good this year! ANTHRAX KICKS ASS

all of you kids that say , "you're gay if you listen to (insert your music here) ahem, you're a f***ing loser, get over yourselves. you're all stereotypical hypocrites...go f*** yourselves..and half the bands going to warped tour are probably a lot more talented than you...just because you don't like their music ..screw you..METAL SUCKS ASS.

Sounds like a whole lot of gay to me. All i can say is that the unholy alliance tour and sounds of the undergound are going to be gorepounding.

Meh, the bands for the warped tour have talent so hurray for the fans.

55. discordthrenodybass writes:

Autumn to ashes, Bullet for my Valentine, Underoath all sound the same? I beg your pardon, Ive seen the latter 2 live, Underoath is unimpressive, but Bullet has a sound that I can easily distinguish, how many of you retards even know how to play music? Let alone b**** about how others do.

Besides, when it comes down to it, they're on tour, living it up playing music, while you're just another guy on a forum hating on them but secretly wishing you could have their lives.

56. bradispissed writes:

i guess most of the retards here expect the vibrations coming from the strummed whatchamacallit to produce something that well, kind of sounds like music?

Fans braved the heat for the Warped Tour's final run at Hollywood Casino Amphitheatre

The Warped Tour, which brought hard rock, metal, punk, ska, and rock 'n' roll to fans across the country for 24 years, is finally coming to an end.

St. Louis' own Story Of The Year.

It's summertime. Which means: epic concert tours! The original music-tour-as-juggernaut is the Vans Warped Tour, which first hit the road in 1995 (if you want a case of vertigo, check out this  spreadsheet of bands who have played it over the past quarter century). However, founder Kevin Lyman has stated that this year's tour would be the last, and while there's a plethora of tours and festivals around to keep us entertained in the meantime, it really does feel like the end of an era.

In St. Louis, it was a hot and humid day for the Warped Tour's final cross-country run. But that didn't stop droves of people from attending; a lot of these fans of hard rock, metal, punk, ska, and rock 'n' roll have been going to these shows every year since the tour started. One of the big draws is the chance to meet artists in person, since every band has a booth and a meet-and-greet scheduled.

The Warped Tour is also big on community, and that was apparent at Hollywood Casino Amphitheatre on Tuesday. Dozens of nonprofit tents lined the walkways, and many of the bands asked their fans if they were feeling happy and good about themselves. The festival seemed to go off without a hitch, which is a huge coup to the organizers. ("One of my biggest goals post-Warped Tour will be to help move these fantastic nonprofits missions forward," Lyman has said. "Warped has always been a balance of music and philanthropy, sometimes I wish we had touted this a bit more.")

The crowdsurfing started early in the day, and continued throughout into the evening. The bands were there to entertain, and while the crowds might have been melting, the musicians all brought their A-games to the stage.

As the only St. Louis-band at the festival, the crowd went wild, for Story of the Year's special appearance. And the band did not disappoint.

Kevin with the last year’s itinerary on a truck.

Founder Kevin Lyman Makes His Move from the Tour Bus to the Classroom

It’s noon on a sweltering July Tuesday in St. Louis, so I’m grateful to be ushered into the air conditioned production office of the local amphitheater for the last Vans Warped Tour. Kevin Lyman is on the phone. He’s enthusiastically expounding about a new band he just heard in Fort Collins, CO, Plasma Canvas. It’s fronted by a trans woman originally from the St. Louis area. “Yeah, she got run out of St. Louis, and I said to her, ‘You play Warped here. That’ll be a nice ‘F*** You’ [to St. Louis] … oh yeah, the band is great.” He jumped from that call to another, scolding a band manager for asking him for four more free tickets. “You had 50 comps at the beginning of the tour. You blew them all. You want four more? Pay $30 each. We set parameters, so just following the f**king parameters. And respect the music. …Tell you what: You buy those [regular] tickets, and I’ll upgrade them to passes. But understand that what we do here has to have value.” In the course of that conversation, he sees me eyeing a CD on the table from a band called Manhattan Blockade, and he covers the mouthpiece of the phone and pushes it toward. “These guys are fantastic, you should check them out.” Once off that call, I apologize for being a bit late. “There’s a fender bender right out front where you pull in,” I tell him. He immediately turns on his intercom, asking for an update on that.

So no, Lyman is not phoning this last tour in. There’s no resting-on-laurels happening here. He’s as relentlessly engaged as one can imagine he was on the first Warped tour. Later, Scott Westgard, a consultant for one of the many charities Warped supports, shows me a recent picture on his phone of Lyman pedaling a bike, delivering a huge bag of ice. “His alliance to the tribe is strong, and he asks for very little,” Westgard says.

“I’ve done everything I possibly can to be in the middle of all of this, and it can physically beat the hell out of me,” Lyman reflects later, shunning the air-conditioned office for the back parking lot where the buses are parked, much to the chagrin of this writer. “I’m still the first off the bus trying to get the doors open an hour early.” He seems to not think too much about the perceived void left behind when he moves onto his next chapter. “There are a lot of people interested in doing something like this, a lot of vultures circulating,” he says smiling. “I’ve laid the groundwork, but I hope whoever comes forward to do whatever variation of this does it for the right reasons. Yes, it’s done well for me, I’ve been able to raise a family and do some things, but it’s all more than that.”

Dave Rat of Rat Sound has been a vendor and friend from the first tour, having previously done college gigs at student unions, where he first started working with Lyman. “Kevin’s gigs were definitely the most organized, with the greatest bands,” he says. “I think what I admire most about Kevin is his relentless passion for connecting artists with audiences. The creativity and vision of creating the Warped tour, combining skaters, motorcycles, cool products and bands for parking lot shows with sound and no lights! Brilliant.”

Since 1995, Lyman has toured every year with an unheard-of number of acts (this tour has over 50), redefining the “festival” idea and making it about the kids (shows are from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m., demographics mostly from 12 to early 20s). Katy Perry, Linkin Park, Avenged Sevenfold, Blink-182, Limp Bizkit, My Chemical Romance, Fall Out Boy, Paramore and a pre-Fergie Black Eyed Peas are just a few of the artists he’s launched. “I didn’t expect the emotional reaction to this last tour,” he says. “This festival was important — it changed some people’s lives.” He jokes that when he first announced that this would be his last, the comments from the press and online made him feel “like I was going to my own wake. Most said good things about me, and others said I should have retired 20 years ago!”

‡‡         Social Responsibility

What distinguishes Lyman’s legacy is that Warped has always been more than just about the music. Starting with the food drive table set up at the gate, which regularly gathers more than three tons of food for a local charity at every stop, there are some 90 charities, nonprofits and social responsibility organizations that benefit from a connection with the Vans Warped Tour. Westgard notes how Lyman’s support for the anti-smoking group, Truth Initiative (formerly the American Legacy Foundation) has made an impact over the years. “When he was recently at their offices in Washington, DC, they told him he saved well over 250,000 lives,” Westgard adds. “He is the Pied Piper for this tribe.” In Denver, they held an event called Brewbies where local craft breweries came out and raised money for Keep-A-Breast foundation, which raised $5,000 right then and there. The challenges of young bands understanding the boundaries of relationship with their audience members has been a recent serious issue Lyman’s had to face, and one he’s faced criticism of not moving fast enough on. But now, in addition to self-policing and educating young artist about sexual harassment as it comes up (and he’s thrown at least one band off a past tour for abusive behavior), he’s brought A Voice for the Innocent, a nonprofit group that stands up for and supports the victims of sexual abuse, along for this tour.

The Ernie Ball stage where so many bands got their start.

Another urgent issue is the country’s opioid crisis. “For me, it was about traveling around this country and talking to people under a tent,” Lyman says. “I did this from Alabama to California, and I heard these stories of how opioid addiction was impacting their communities just by asking about how their families were doing.” The call to action led him to work with iPug, an Australia-based tech company involved in health research and public health initiatives, and the FEND (Full Energy, No Drugs) anti-opioid initiative, resulting in an app that uses gamification [game-design elements] to educate people on opioids. “This began as most of my ventures do, a meeting in my backyard.” (In this instance, there were a bunch of “suits” with coats and ties who showed up, prompting Lyman’s 92-year-old neighbor to ask, “Are they here to arrest you or sue you?”) Playing with the app on this tour leads to collecting points, which can be redeemed and used for special events, like acoustic sets backstage. “We’ve white-label-branded the app so it’s easy to transfer to other audiences,” such as baseball or NASCAR fans,” Lyman says. The app has already proven to be beneficial to users, Lyman adds, noting the case of a young woman who was given an opioid prescription after sustaining an injury playing basketball. Lyman notes how she entered in the dose she was prescribed and the app told her she’d be addicted to the drug in just four days. As of early July, when the Warped Tour visited St. Louis, more than 13,000 had downloaded the app. At the current pace, some 40,000 were expected to do so by the time the tour ended in early August.

The FEND tent is one of many great organizations that Warped allows on site to get their word out.

‡‡         What’s Next

Lyman will go straight from the tour bus to the classroom as he takes up responsibilities as an adjunct professor at the USC Thornton School of Music in Los Angeles. He’s pleased to have been brought in by a distinguished group of live event professionals including Mike Garcia (promoter), Mike Kaminsky (founder/president of KMGMT) and Vivian Wang (AEG). Longtime friend Trudy Green of HK Management is also on the faculty. “I have some ideas about where we can go that I want to explore with the next generation [of live event professionals]. I’ll be teaching about live events, but also branding and social responsibility,” Lyman says.

Turns out Lyman has been thinking of moving onto this next chapter for three years. Ticket sales had taken a hit, especially with his 14-to-17-year-old key demographic. “We’ve lost those kids to gaming.” With that in mind, he cautions other would-be touring festival promoter wannabes intrigued by the shiny, flashy object that is the current tour’s huge ticket sales. He points out that many in attendance of this tour are older, having come back out in honor of the memories of Warped tours of yore. He believes the festival scene in general needs a reset. Increasing saturation and decreasing profitability raises the risk of last-minute cancellations, potentially wreaking havoc on bands and fans alike. The future success of the younger festival business, Lyman adds, depends on the ability to build a real community. “We might have to take a step back to take a step forward,” he says. “And we have to get smarter on routing, packaging and everything else. What I hope to do is now take what I’ve learned to contribute to that.” Another area of concern is artist development. Labels for these types of bands don’t know what to do with them if they don’t get on a Warped tour. The pressure was such that labels were sending bands to Lyman that clearly weren’t ready.

warped tour 2006 st louis

Unknown bands get much needed exposure to new fans.

Lyman notes that there are financial challenges to the live concert business in general, and he says that charging an extra dollar to park, or more for beer all the time, is simply not sustainable. Neither is the $18 cheeseburger as experienced in a Nashville arena. “People are not going to put up with that — the public is not stupid,” he says. “Let’s not take our audience for granted. We all just have to get smarter.” Most important, he adds, is making sure there’s an audience in the future. “There’s a dark cloud on the horizon for all of us who work in live music,” he cautions. He quotes an Atlantic Monthly article about the dearth of 14-to-17 year-olds who drop out of all it, and the long-term ramifications if we, as an industry, don’t engage that demographic. “If live music isn’t ingrained in you by the time you’re 21, then you’re lost forever.” Another ominous factor for the future of live touring is the retirement of major artists such as Elton John, and the increasing costs and complexities of things like trucking and security. “We’re going to see more of the big acts become stationary in Vegas,” Lyman says. “That’s a fact we’re all facing.”

Kevin Lyman is back on his feet, getting ready to take another walk around the amphitheater in the brutal sun, as I plan my escape home. I ask if there’s anything he’ll miss about all of this. He smiles and says, “Maybe I won’t miss having to talk to agents whose job it is to complain to me about the size of a band’s logo on our website. Maybe instead I can spend that time getting five more tours to do food drives.”

Warped Tour founder reflects on its end

The Warped Tour will make its final stop in St. Louis Tuesday, July 3, at the Hollywood Casino Amphitheatre, 14141 Riverport Drive. Doors open at 11 a.m. Tickets start at $30.

Kevin Lyman is approaching this summer’s 24th edition of the Warped Tour thinking about something that never needed to enter his thoughts during the many years of the tour. He’s thinking about his life without the Warped Tour.

Last fall, Lyman announced that 2018 would be the last year for Warped as a traveling festival visiting cities coast to coast. The festival hits St. Louis July 3 at the Hollywood Casino Amphitheatre.

The Warped Tour’s end marks the end of an era in the concert world, as it is the last of the traveling festivals. It outlasted Ozzfest, Lollapalooza, H.O.R.D.E., Lilith Fair and every other traveling festival tour. Warped wasn’t the first traveling festival – that honor belongs to Lollapalooza, which Lyman worked on for three years when it was breaking ground as a touring multi-band festival before he launched Warped.

Lyman suspects the concept of the traveling festival has seen its day and sees multiple reasons why tours like Warped, Lilith Fair and Ozzfest are unlikely to happen again.

One reason is finances. In the case of the punk rock/alt-rock-leaning Warped, the transportation costs of getting some 70 bands and everything that comes with it to the venues has increased, as have band fees, insurance and other costs that go with a festival tour.

It’s also become a bigger challenge in recent years to book bands popular enough to anchor the Warped stages and drive ticket sales. That wasn’t such an issue in the first decade or so, when Warped was essentially the only big summer tour going for bands in the punk and alternative rock worlds, and managers and record labels clamored for one of the coveted slots on the Warped Tour.

But the music and touring business has changed in big ways – and the changes haven’t always worked in the Warped Tour’s favor.

For one thing, album sales have tanked in the eras of downloading and streaming services. Without much revenue from album sales, bands have to make their money on touring. Lyman said Warped is simply not seen by some industry people as the best summer touring option anymore, particularly for the kind of acts that could bring name recognition and a measure of star power.

“When I started Warped tour, there wasn’t a full summer (of festivals) in Europe that you could go to. Bands used to go over there in June, do a couple of festivals in early June, and then they’d come back, (do Warped Tour) and hopefully do a couple (European festivals) in August,” Lyman explained in a phone interview last month. “But now there’s a full three months of festivals going on in Europe. So the economics have changed for a lot of bands because of lack of payments from records and CDs, that type of thing. It’s a time when a band can make their living going to Europe this time of year.

“It’s understandable. They only make their money from touring, so in the short-term thinking, maybe they could go make more money (in Europe),” he said. “Now, unfortunately, people are put in a situation where every quarter you’ve got to stay solvent. So that was the problem.”

On a personal level, Lyman also found himself getting worn down from the long hours he puts in traveling with the tour and making sure things run as smoothly as possible at each stop. Lyman typically starts work before sunrise and doesn’t finish until dark – some 16 hours later. Physically, it’s become a challenge for Lyman, now 57, to maintain his hands-on approach to managing the tour. And he has a knee replacement and a surgically rebuilt ankle to testify to the wear and tear.

“Physically, it’s been a drag the last three summers. I go 100 percent on everything I do,” Lyman said. “I’m always in the middle of it, and I will always be in the middle of everything I do. But the physical toll on me has gotten too hard.”

So yes, Lyman sounds ready to leave behind the grind of Warped. But not until he takes one last trip around the country this summer. And for Warped’s final voyage, Lyman has assembled a diverse lineup   of talent that includes a number of veteran bands that have had multiple outings on the tour (Less Than Jake, Reel Big Fish and Every Time I Die) as well as emerging acts that touch on everything from pop-rock (Echosmith) to punk (Doll Skin) to metal (Amity Affliction) and beyond.

Lyman said he wasn’t able to book all the returning acts he wanted, although some groups that helped put Warped on the map are making one-off guest appearances at various tour stops. He likes what this year’s lineup offers and what he’s seen with ticket sales so far.

“I have a very solid lineup, and it’s all people who wanted to be there. That’s really what it is,” Lyman said. “I’m very happy with the lineup I do have and also how I think we’re selling our tickets, who we’re selling our tickets to this year. It looks like we’re selling to a fan that maybe remembers their good times at Warped Tour, that’s maybe a few years older, that 20- to 35-year-old set.

“I really think it’s going to be a celebration of people who are true music fans, who remember those times and are going to come out and have a great last summer with us,” he said.

The absence of the Warped Tour figures to leave a void for some bands, especially the newer alt-leaning acts that have been able to establish a buzz and a fan base for themselves on the tour. But Lyman figures those acts will find other touring options that will work.

One area that is a concern for Lyman, though, is the future of some of the nonprofits that have been part of the Warped experience. Working with these organizations has been a major priority for Lyman, and a major effort this year will involve helping the Preventum Initiative, which educates the public about the dangers of opioid abuse.

Each year dozens of organizations have traveled with Warped, and a good number of fledgling groups grew into influential operations through the exposure and volunteer participation they’ve generated on the tour. These organizations will have to find some way to replace the resources that came from Warped.

Lyman said he will do as much as he can going forward to help the nonprofits that have partnered with Warped.

“One of the hardest things of ending this (tour) is trying to figure out how to continue to help them with their missions. We’ve got some plans in place,” he said. “We’re not walking away from them.”

Lyman himself figures to find plenty of ways to fill his time now that he’s not booking and running the Warped Tour. He plans to stay involved with some of the nonprofits and he will be available to consult on certain festivals or other events.

Another part of his schedule will be filled by teaching.

He accepted a teaching position with the University of Southern California starting this fall. Lyman said he doesn’t yet know exactly what classes he’ll teach, but courses involving live music production or musical trends could be among his subjects.

And he has one other undertaking in mind for next summer.

“Now I’m going to travel in a different way,” Lyman said. “I get to take my wife on a summer vacation. It will be awesome… Next summer will be our first summer vacation in 27 years.”
