Good customer support, but Yatra system is bogus

Yatra app is good, but the way their backend system works can be improved. I faced problem to reschedule a flexi ticket where Yatra app didn’t allow me to reschedule for free, but I was able to do it for free directly from airline. There was a refund from airline because the rescheduled flight was cheaper. The refund was supposed to be processed by Yatra and the “Claim Refund” option gave me almost nothing out of the whole refund. Above that, Yatra showed the PNR as cancelled where as the same PNR was still active with the airline for the rescheduled flight. I had to write e-mail to Yatra support explaining the issue, then they gave me the remaining refund which totals the amount refunded by the airline. These whole process gave me headache and took almost 3 days for the refund to be processed by Yatra. I’m rating the app based on the overall experience. Rating 4 out of 5 because of the good customer support.

Worst ever app

This review may be subjective because I went through a lot because of this app. This was my first ever flight travel and I booked my ticket in “best value” pack for 5k because it included cancellation charges and flexi plus didn’t include it. When I wanted to cancel my ticket, they said they would refund 81₹ and note that my booking and travel was within 24 hours of the flight journey. When enquired with Yatra, they asked us to contact IndiGo. When contacted IndiGo, they said we haven’t booked the ticket in “flexi” and refund is not possible. When I checked IndiGo’s website, there were only two packs - basic and flexi. But Yatra has included a third pack called best value which resulted in all the confusion. And it has the worst ever customer care support who don’t reply on time and no way of having a direct call with them. And because of their late responses, I had to undertake my travel and was not able to cancel it. This is the reason why I don’t recommend Yatra to new customers who would like to download Yatra and book flight tickets. It gives us lots of confusions and headaches.

Fake hotel booking

If I can give it a minus rating then it would be an appropriate one as I have booked a hotel from this company and then i tried to contact their customer service again and again but there’s no response from them. While I arrived at the location there is no hotel present at the given location and I was shocked at 11 p.m at night I am roaming all over the place to just get a room for my family. I have also sent a mail to their mail ID provided at their site but still no response. As I have already prepaid the amount fully in advance so I need the full refund ASAP and also going to file a Consumer Forum case on their name if I don’t get it within 3 business days. Also requesting people to not use this as most of the hotels represented by them may be vague or the hotels don’t take booking from them. Yatra please take the necessary steps as soon as possible to avoid any further legal issues as you guys didn’t have responded till now and also I haven’t received my money back, so this wil fall under a sure case of fraudulent activity.
Dear Suvom, Sorry for the inconvenience caused to you. Please help us to connect with you quickly by sharing the concern in brief and your booking details with us against the below shared URL. Uttarakhand Char Dham Yatra Essential Guide

Pilgrimage to Yamunotri, Gangotri, Kedarnath and Badrinath Temples

yatra travel india

After the snow clears at the foothills of the Himalayas in late April, Hindu pilgrims start flocking to the four ancient temples known as Char Dham. Located high up in the Garhwal region of Uttarakhand , these temples mark the spiritual source of four holy rivers: the Yamuna (at Yamunotri), the Ganges (at Gangotri), the Mandakini (at Kedarnath), and the Alaknanda (at Badrinath). Hindus consider visiting the Char Dham to be very auspicious. Not only is it believed to wash away all sins, it will also ensure release from the cycle of birth and death. There are a number of options for going on a Char Dham yatra (journey).

Char Dham Yatra Overview

The Char Dham are only open at certain times of the year from late April or early May to November. May and June is the peak pilgrimage period. The monsoon season (July to September) can quite dangerous as the rain makes the route slippery.

How Can the Char Dham be Reached?

A Char Dham yatra isn't easy. Pilgrims really need to earn the benefits bestowed, as only two of the temples (Badrinath and Gangotri) are accessible by vehicle. The remaining two (Yamunotri and Kedarnath) require treks. Kedarnath has the lengthiest trek. It takes around 10-12 days to visit all the temples. However, it's now possible to cover all the temples in two days by helicopter.

To help ensure the safety of pilgrims, a medical checkup has been introduced for those trekking to Kedarnath temple. Special checkup points are provided en-route for this. In addition, all pilgrims going on the Char Dham Yatra must complete biometric registration. It can be done online here or at designated registration centers in Uttarakhand. There will be regular weather updates provided along the route, as well as telecommunication network coverage, mobile medical facilities, and a control room.

Where are the Char Dham Located?

  • Badrinath and Gangotri -- are both directly reachable by road from Haridwar , Rishikesh , Kotdwar, and Dehradun.
  • Yamunotri -- the trek starts from Janki Chatti, 225 kilometers (140 miles) from Rishikesh .
  • Kedarnath -- the trek starts from Gaurikund, 207 kilometers (130 miles) from Rishikesh .

Are there any Tour Packages?

Although it's not difficult to make your own travel arrangements for a Char Dham yatra, there are plenty of Char Dham packages available as well. Two options are:

  • Government-operated Garhwal Mandal Vikas Nigam organizes package tours by bus every year from May to November. There are plenty of options from seeing only one temple to all four temples. It's possible to include the Valley of Flowers and Hemkund Sahib too. Most tours depart from Rishikesh but some leave from Haridwar or Dehradun, depending on the itinerary. The shortest tour is four nights and the longest is 11. Tours are priced from around 10,000 rupees per person. Some have shared accommodations and bathroom.
  • If you'd prefer a more upmarket option, Leisure Hotels has set up luxury Chardham Camps at each of the sites and offers various package deals .
  • Pilgrim Aviation is a reputable private company that offers helicopter tour packages.

Prefer to Go Your Own Way and Want More Information?

The temples are usually visited in clockwork direction, from west to east. This means you should see them in the following order: Yamunotri, Gangotri, Kedarnath, Badrinath. Haridwar or Rishikesh are the starting points for transportation.

What is the Situation After the 2013 Flood At Kedarnath?

Substantial repair and reconstruction works have been carried after the flash flood in Uttarakhand, which caused extensive devastation and loss of life in the area around Kedarnath temple. This has made the trek much safer and more comfortable for pilgrims.

Nehru Institute of Mountaineering has repaired the damaged stretch of track from Gaurikund to Rambara and made a new track from Rambara to Kedarnath. In addition, accommodation and sanitation facilities have been improved. There are resting points, toilets, tea stalls, medical facilities, police stations, and State Disaster Response Force patrols on the route. Emergency helipads have been constructed in various locations, and an early warning alarm system has been installed to provide alerts about any disasters on the route and around the lake there.

How to Visit Badrinath Temple

Badrinath temple is the most accessible and thus most popular of the Char Dham. You'll find this temple, dedicated to Lord Vishnu, surrounded by a rather untidy village and overshadowed by the towering, snow-topped, Nilkantha peak.

When is Badrinath Temple Open?

The opening date is decided by priests on Basant Panchami in February, while the closing date is decided on  Dussehra . Generally, the temple remains open for around 10 days after Diwali . The opening date for 2021 has been announced as May 18.

How to Visit Gangotri Temple

The simple shrine of Gangotri temple has special significance for Hindu pilgrims. It's considered to be one of the holiest places in India as it's regarded as the spiritual source of the ever powerful Ganges River. Set amidst rugged mountains and forest, Gangotri attracts almost 300,000 pilgrims a year. Every evening towards 8 p.m., an aarti (worship with fire) is held at the temple.

When is Gangotri Temple Open?

Gangotri temple opens on a set day every year. This falls on Akshaya Tritiya (an auspicious day in the Hindu calendar), in the last week of April or first week of May.  In 2021, Gangotri will open on May 14. The occasion features a traditional procession of the Goddess Ganga back from her winter home at Mukhyamath temple in Mukhba village, 20 kilometers (12 miles) downstream. The temple closes on Diwali every year, and the Goddess returned to Mukhyamath temple.

How Can Gangotri Temple be Reached?

Gangotri is most popularly reached from Rishikesh (12 hours away) via Uttarkashi (six hours away). It's possible to take a bus or jeep to get there. Guesthouses and a GMVN Tourist Bungalow provide accommodations for those who want to stay.

Trekking to the Actual Source of the Ganges River

If you don't mind a strenuous trek, you can actually go to where the Ganges River emerges from a glacier above Gangotri. The actual source is an ice cave called Gaumukh (meaning Cow's Mouth), 18 kilometers (11 miles) up. Three days are required to complete the return trek, with around six hours of trekking a day. You can stay in a dormitory at a GMVN Tourist Bungalow along the way at Bhojbasa. It's situated around six hours from Gangotri and three hours from Gaumukh.

How to Visit Yamunotri Temple

The Yamunotri temple lies close to the source of the Yamuna River, the second holiest river in India, which flows all the way down past the Taj Mahal . The temple is relatively undeveloped as it's the least visited of the Char Dham. However, there is a certain magic to be experienced from the pristine mountain air, running water, natural scenic beauty, and enthusiastic devotees. Pilgrims also get to enjoy a number of hot water springs in the vicinity of the temple.

When is Yamunotri Temple Open?

The same as Gangotri temple, Yamunotri temple opens every year on Akshaya Tritiya (an auspicious day in the Hindu calendar). It falls in the last week of April or first week of May. In 2021, it is on May 14. The temple also closes for the season on Diwali. On the day the temple opens, the Goddess is carried from the nearby village of Kharsali (said to be Yamuna's mother's home), installed in the temple, and duly returned when the temple closes.

How Can Yamunotri Temple be Reached?

The route by road is Haridwar/Rishikesh-Dehradun-Mussoorie-Naugaon-Barkot–Hanuman Chatti. The journey to the village of Hanuman Chatti, which is around 14 kilometers from the Yamunotri temple, takes around eight hours from Rishikesh and six hours from the hill station of Mussoorie . From there, it's necessary to take a shared taxi (departures every few minutes) to Janki Chatti. Your trek starts there! It's only 5 kilometers (3 miles) to the Yamunotri temple, via Kharsali, but it's a very steep and and in some parts narrow climb. As a result, people usually take around two hours to cover the distance and it really helps if you take a locally available walking stick. If you find you don't want to walk, there are mules and men to help carry you.

Basic guesthouses and GMVN Tourist Bungalows provide accommodations at Yamunotri, Janki Chatti, and Hanuman Chatti. If you stay the night at Yamunotri, you'll be able to witness the evening aarti (worship with fire) there.

Is it Possible to See the Actual Source of the Yamuna River?

The origin of the Yamuna River is a frozen lake and glacier located around a kilometer above the temple. Unless you have mountaineering skills, the climb isn't advised though. It's a very difficult one.

How to Visit Kedarnath Temple

The most remote and holiest of the Char Dham, although Kedarnath temple requires effort to get to, it still draws more than 100,000 pilgrims a year. This is because it's considered to be the seat of Lord Shiva and the most important of the 12 Jyotirlingas (large lingas /shrines to Shiva) in India. It's an impressive temple too -- perhaps the largest and most magnificent one in the Himalayas. Situated high up in Lord Shiva's territory, it occupies a glacial terrace leftover from a long ago melted glacier, in the Mandakini Valley.

When is Kedarnath Temple Open?

The opening date is decided by priests on Maha Shivaratri in late February or early March each year. In 2021, it will open on May 17. The temple closes the day after Diwali each year.

How Can Kedarnath Temple be Reached?

The route to Kedarnath starts off at Rishikesh and heads in the same direction as to Badrinath, but branches off at Rudraprayag (where connections are available). The destination is Gaurikund, 14 kilometers (9 miles) from Kedarnath. The whole journey from Rishikesh takes around 12 hours by bus or jeep. Then, from Gaurikund, it's a grueling uphill trek to the temple. Expect it to take around six hours. The stunning scenery of the Mandakini River along the way helps though! Those who don't feel up to walking can opt to take a pony, which will reduce the duration of the trek by an hour. There are porters available to help carry luggage as well.

Alternatively, Kedranath temple is also accessible by helicopter! The Uttarakhand government provides services departing from various locations and online bookings can be made here . Other options are Pawan Hans Helicopters Ltd (owned by the Indian government) and private company Pilgrim Aviation . A one way trip only takes 15 minutes.

Where to Stay?

In terms of accommodations, basic GMVN Tourist Bungalows can be found at Gaurikund. Following the devastating 2013 flash flood, which destroyed infrastructure around the temple, the government has constructed tent colonies to accommodate pilgrims. New sanitation facilities, including toilets and bathrooms, have been added along with community kitchens.

‘Multiple Indias’: Yatra and MakeMyTrip CEOs Push Travel Industry To Embrace India’s Diversity

Elizabeth Casolo, Skift

March 29th, 2024 at 12:57 PM EDT

The leaders of MakeMyTrip and Yatra Online advocate for a keep-your-head-down approach: understanding India's latest travelers, focusing on customer retention, and embracing the digital landscape without being bogged down by competitors.

CEOs at MakeMyTrip and Yatra Online agree: India holds more than just a country.

“There are multiple different Indias. There isn’t any one India,” said Dhruv Shringi, CEO and co-founder of Yatra Online. “So you have to figure out which India you’re addressing.”

At the Skift India Summit 2024 , Shringi and Rajesh Magow, group CEO and co-founder of MakeMyTrip, emphasized how travel businesses should account for India’s diversity of travelers and destinations. The pair dove into the importance of millennials, online penetration, sustainable business strategies, and tailored market approaches — all while considering the country’s growing middle class.

Here are some highlights from their conversation with Skift Founding/Executive Editor Dennis Schaal, shortened for clarity.

While there is plenty of potential in the domestic market, outbound travel opportunities are becoming boundless for Indian travelers, too.

Shringi: I think there is a huge market out here on the domestic front. The number of experiences which can be curated in the domestic market are also immense. The customer finds it inherently comfortable traveling domestically, also. Having said that, I think there is still a large part of aspirational India which views international travel as a really big thing.

Magow: (For) all sorts of demographic cohorts, if you see, the income is rising across the board, whether it is less than $5,000 income, which is going to drive the, let’s say, ground transport traffic, or it is more than $10,000 income, growing from, say, about 50 million households to about 100 million households in the coming years. There’s going to be opportunity both for domestic as well as outbound international (travel).

OTAs should consider India’s diversity and understand their customer segments.

Shringi: I think if you look at India, one thing we’ve learned the hard way is that there are multiple different Indias. There isn’t any one India. So you have to figure out which India you’re addressing.

For a moment, if you just focus on the middle class, the 25 to 30 million — because the guys who are in the top 1%, they are anyways traveling overseas — the aspirational class in India is growing pretty rapidly, and it’s no longer limited only to the metro cities. What we’ve seen is that travel is becoming, especially post-pandemic, such a top-of-mind thing for people to do, right? Everyone wants to live an experience of life.

There is a saying that’s coming in right now. It’s based on a movie in India called Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara , meaning, “You only live once.” On the basis of that, you’re seeing people wanting to spend an incremental part of their disposable income toward travel. So, from our perspective, we are looking at going deeper into tier-two, tier-three markets (to) see how’d you access these customers.

How do you get into these tier-two market segments where people have historically maybe traveled domestically, but always had the aspiration of traveling internationally, and provide them a platform that enables them to do this seamlessly?

Infrastructure development is a key driver of travel in India.

Magow: Look at some of the CapEx (capital expenditure) investment that has happened across the board, improving the infrastructure, whether it is all kind(s) of transport mode(s) or new airports getting added, new capacity getting added. There is investment happening in the road infrastructure. There is investment happening in the rail infrastructure… I think this momentum, the continued momentum, is going to further help to support the domestic travel industry, for sure.

I think the challenge is going to be to take the traffic away from the main cities… or the key destinations because they’re busting, like Goa. Unless Goa would expand the capacity, it’s going to be a challenge because Goa is the only beach destination that we have in India. And similarly, many hill destinations and stuff like that. So the in-destination infrastructure needs a lot of improvement.

MakeMyTrip and Yatra Online see success with tailoring campaigns to destinations.

Shringi: I think India is such a diverse market, and each region, each destination, tends to have its own nuances. At least in our experience and now, having seen how digital platforms have evolved (in ways) that allow you to segment your messaging much better, we’ve found that being more specific to what the region is about, to… the particular activity you’re trying to do, tends to give you a better result than having a more generic (consumer strategy).

A generic one is needed at times to build out the brand, build out saliency, but, once you’ve achieved a certain level of saliency… at least we’ve seen being more specific in your messaging, especially when it comes to marketing certain regions, that tends to be more efficient.

Magow: (The) more and more you go region specific, you would realize in India every state is a different country in itself. The tastes are different, the preferences are different, and so on. So I think it’s actually good, in a way, because it probably lends some sort of advantage to the local players who would sort of understand the market really, really well. It brings some sort of a mode to the businesses, as well. So I think that’s the way to go.

India’s travel market needs to prioritize online penetration.

Magow: We are in a country where the market is growing, and growing phenomenally. The overall market is growing, but, if you come to the digital market, (the) digital market is growing even at a faster rate. Look at the internet penetration today… 50% internet penetration, but the e-commerce penetration is only about 20%. So just between the internet penetration and e-commerce penetration, there’s a huge amount of headroom.

About 90 million households that are getting added in the next five years are going to be headed by millennials. Now, millennials, who were born in liberalized India and (their) predominant buying behavior is online… you can see from an online penetration standpoint, digitization standpoint, if you look at the country as a whole, there’s a huge amount of push we didn’t talk about.

(Speaking on MakeMyTrip’s “book now, pay later” feature with hotels), there still is a huge opportunity because the online penetration for the hotel segment, relative to the flight segment, is much, much lower today, whether it is domestic or international hotels.

Shringi: To me, enterprise (travel) is where consumer travel was maybe about 10, 12 years ago, from an online penetration point of view. It’s just about getting onto the S-curve for online penetration. So the focus is in terms of growing and going deeper into the market, rather than getting into a head-on battle, which then makes it a zero-sum game.

Some OTAs jump into customer acquisition without considering longevity.

Magow: Think about any emerging industry, or an emerging country rather, and you will see exactly the same pattern. You will see, (in the) early stage, there will be some interest that’s building up, and then it catches up, and then (a) huge amount of capital inflow that comes in. And then, all of us, I would say, including us, we all get carried away, tapping into that market opportunity very, very aggressively.

We all sort of get carried away with the reach that internet provides, and (we think), “Can I just jump the gun and acquire the customers faster than anyone else in the market?”

I think what is more important is to realize very quickly — and that is where then the men would get separated from boys, I would say — that it’s not sustainable. Which are the core areas that you need to sort of focus on for you to be able to build a long-term, sustainable business?

Shringi: My take is that ultimately acquiring customers in the short run doesn’t really solve for anything if you can’t retain that customer. If you don’t have a strategy for a long-term retention of that customer in a manner that makes sense — and, as… public (companies), I think that’s something that both of us constantly have to really think about — that is what I lose sleep about.

Finding Tranquil Rest: Accommodation and Facilities

Secure your lodgings in advance, particularly during the peak pilgrimage season. While the accommodations are basic, they provide essential amenities, ensuring a comfortable and serene stay.

Furthermore, the inaccessibility of visas, especially in Europe, has made the notion of an authentic European vacation unachievable for Indian tourists, leading to a transition towards short-haul international locations such as Vietnam, Singapore, Malaysia, Dubai, and Thailand.

There is a clear lack of enthusiasm about travel within India, even with the lifting of pandemic restrictions, which could be the reason for the slowdown in inbound visitation. Additionally, the significant increase in Tax Collected at Source (TCS) from 5% to 20% on foreign vacation packages creates a financial hardship for travelers and deters them from making reservations as soon as possible.

Kedarnath - most eminent part of char dham yatra

The Chardham Yatra is considered of great significance for Hindus. Home to many temples and pilgrimage sites, the divine Char Dhams are situated in Uttarakhand . According to traditional mythologies, every Hindu should travel to Char Dham at least once during his lifetime. This is because of the belief that by repenting for a lifetime’s worth of sins, the Char Dham Yatra opens the doors to “Moksha.”

For Hindus, Adi Shankaraya Charya was a vedic Scholar and teacher. He is praised and given credit for bringing Hinduism back to life. Hinduism’s Char Dham Yatra Pilgrimage circuit is one of the many pilgrimage sites he constructed. The Pilgrims are reminded of their illustrious past while in Char Dhams. It is said that after completing the Chardham Yatra, a pilgrim finds absolute tranquillity.

This Char Dham Yatra is noteworthy from both a spiritual and scientific point of view. The mountain air refreshes the soul and connects the pilgrims to nature. In addition, the challenging trip pushes one beyond his comfort zone.

Important Dates for Char Dham Yatra

Char Dham Yatra is only open for six months a year, starting in April/May and ending in October/November before heavy snowfall cuts off access to shrines.

Given below is a list of Char Dham Yatra opening and closing dates for 2023 :

On the holy day of Maha Shivratri, the Kedar-Badri Mandir Samiti discloses the specific dates for the opening and closure of the Char Dham Yatra. The dates are set after reviewing the sacred Hindu calendar, Panchang.

Best Time for Char Dham Yatra

Best time to visit in Char Dham Yatra

The holy Yatra of 4 Dham can be done during the 6 months when the shrines are open for pilgrims. All the temples of the Char Dham are prone to extreme weather conditions due to their location. So, it becomes important for travellers to check the weather before going on a trip.

The months of May and June are considered the Best time for Char Dham Yatra since the climate is favourable, with pleasant temperatures, neither too hot nor too cold for travel. After this, from July onwards, the monsoon onsets in Uttarakhand, making it inconvenient and difficult to travel to Char Dham during this period.

After the monsoon’s departure, there is another good time for Char Dham Yatra in the pre-winter season, from the end of September to the middle of November. During this time, the valleys are in full bloom with thick and beautiful vegetation after a heavy monsoon making it an excellent time to embark on the Char Dham yatra in Uttarakhand.

The holy Char Dham yatra usually begins from Haridwar, also known as the “Gateway to Gods,” which is well linked to all four sacred shrines. According to Hindu beliefs, the pilgrimage to the four temples is to be done clockwise from Yamunotri to Gangotri, then Kedarnath and Badrinath .

The pilgrimage will begin in Rishikesh , from which you will travel to Dharasu. Then after about an hour and a half of travel, you will reach your first destination, Yamunotri, in the Uttarkashi District.

Then, from Uttarkashi, travellers depart for Gangotri, the second Dham, which is at a distance of 100 km by road. Then, the next step is to travel from Uttarkashi to Rudraprayag and from Rudraprayag to Kedarnath, located at an elevation of 3586 meters.

The last Dham of the pilgrimage is the Badrinath Dham, which can be reached in about 5 hours from Rudraprayag. Our journey ends at the Lord Vishnu-dedicated shrine, which is located on the left bank of the Alaknanda River.

Char Dham Yatra Registration for 2023-2024

This journey of the Chardham yatra takes at least 9–10 days if done by road. For the Chota Char Dham Yatra to begin, you must first travel to Haridwar.

Below is your daywise route plan to Char dham yatra.

From Haridwar, you will travel roughly 222 kilometres to reach Barkot. From there, the last location to which a vehicle may travel is Janki Chatti, where you can stay at night.

You will start your hike of about 5 kilometres to reach Yamunotri temple, for which you can rent a horse or a palki. After visiting the Yamunotri Dham, you can return to Janki Chatti the same day.

For moving towards the next Dham in the circuit, i.e., Gangotri Dham, you must travel to Uttarkashi and then from here to Gangotri. You don’t need to walk because a vehicle can drive right up to this Dham. Approximately 130 Kilometres separate Uttarkashi from Gangotri Dham, and it takes 5 hours to get there.

On day 5 of your Char Dham yatra, you’ll visit the next Dham of the circuit, the Kedarnath Dham. You have to travel to Guptkashi from Gangotri, which is about 290 kilometers away.

Guptkashi to Kedarnath is the most difficult leg of the journey because it requires an almost 15-kilometer hike. You should start your trek early in the morning to reach the temple premises by evening and spend your night there. Senior folks, children, and others who cannot walk can use palki services, ride horses, or even use a helicopter to get to Kedarnath.

Next day, you can visit the holy shrine Kedarnath and start your trek back towards Guptkashi.

Then, from Guptkashi, the Badrinath shrine is at a distance of about 197 km by road. From this location, it takes roughly 6 hours to reach there. There are many stunning stops along the way, including Chopta, Gopeshwar, Pipalkoti, and Joshimath, which will never cease to amaze you.

Here comes the end of your pilgrimage: visiting the sacred temple Badrinath and starting your way back to Haridwar.

The major cities of India are well connected to Rishikesh, Haridwar, Kotdwar, and Dehradun by Train. Speaking of air travel, Jolly Grant Airport in Dehradun is the closest airport and offers helicopter service to Kedarnath and Badrinath. From here, you can take a bus or cab or rent a taxi to take you on the pilgrimage.

But suppose you want to travel hassle-free, without worrying about where to stay or how to go. In that case, you should consider booking a  Complete Chardham Yatra Tour Package  with an experienced tour operator that best suits your budget and requirements.

Also explore our chardham yatra package from Haridwar , Delhi , Ahmedabad and Mumbai .

Faqs about char dham yatra.

Yamunotri dam’s journey is considered the toughest out of the four dhams. Because of the congested and narrow route, it is quite challenging to reach the temple.

You’ll cross the below places on your Char Dham Yatra:-

There is no direct path connecting Badrinath and Kedarnath. However, you can easily reach Badrinath by road or by helicopter. If you are short on time, the best way is to take a helicopter ride directly from Kedarnath to Badrinath.

It will take around 2-4 days to complete your Kedarnath Yatra as the Kedarnath trek is the lengthiest amongst all 4 Dhams. However, if you wish to go to Char Dham by Helicopter, you can complete the tour to all 4 Dhams in just 2 days.

If you start your journey from Haridwar onwards, the complete Char Dham Yatra would cost around 27000 INR per person.

Char Dham includes the four sacred temples in the Uttarakhand Himalayas, namely Badrinath, Kedarnath, Gangotri, and Yamunotri.
