• How will I know that I have the right coach for my group?
• At US Coachways, we understand that every group has different needs. We'll look at the details of your trip—how many people are traveling, how long you'll be on the road, what you'll be bringing or taking back, and any special needs of your passengers. Then we'll work with our vast national network of service providers to find the bus that best meets your needs. If you're traveling with a small-to-midsized group, the mini-bus is a great option, with seating for 24 to 35 guests and plenty of space for luggage and personal items. For larger groups, the full-sized bus is optimal, holding up to 57 passengers comfortably. Multiple bus rentals are always an option.
• How much will it cost to rent a charter bus?
• The total expense to rent a charter bus varies, based on a number of factors:
• How long you'll be gone—If you expect to go and come back on the same day, you'll either be charged by the mile or by the hour (expect a minimum charge). If you're staying overnight, you'll customarily pay by the day.
• How many people are going—That determines the size of your coach. As a general rule, the larger the bus, the greater the cost.
• When and where you'll be renting the bus—The cost of a charter bus rental can fluctuate seasonally. Do charter buses have seat belts?

In 2013, the  National Highway Traffic Safety Administration mandated that all new motorcoaches be built with seat belts starting in November 2016. Buses built before the rule went into effect are not required to have seat belts. Are charter buses wheelchair accessible?

All charter bus companies are required by the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) to provide wheelchair-accessible coaches when they are requested. However, bus companies don’t always outfit every bus in their fleet with wheelchair lifts, so you’ll need to request a handicap bus rental specifically.

When you book an ADA-accessible charter bus, you’ll receive a motorcoach rental that includes a wheelchair lift and room inside for the passenger to safely ride.

Who drives a charter bus?

If your trip will include nights, you’ll need to factor in the cost of your driver’s hotel room. Even if your bus company doesn’t specify hotel requirements, we recommend budgeting for a 3-star hotel or higher. Your bus driver is responsible for your safety, so make sure he or she gets a good night’s sleep!

Can groups book a charter bus without a driver?

Will my driver make last-minute stops?

When you book your charter bus, you’ll submit an itinerary with every destination’s address, drop-off times, and pickup times. If you would like for your driver to make a stop that will take a significant amount of additional time and/or mileage, you may be subject to additional fees. Ask your bus company about their policy in advance if you think you may need to add a stop in your itinerary.

If you simply would like for your driver to stop at a rest stop or gas station, many will be happy to accommodate your request. Often, bus drivers will stop every few hours regardless to give everyone a break from the bus and allow passengers to grab a snack.

How far in advance should I book my bus rental?

To ensure you get the best bus at the best rate, we recommend booking your charter bus rental at least 1 to 3 months in advance. For busy months like April, May, and June, book at least 6 to 9 months in advance if possible.

Tips and Things to Know Before You Go

The bus has two levels, the upper level offers panoramic views of the city but be careful of overhanging traffic lights and trees. Don’t stand while the bus is in motion.

• After you find a seat, check the audio to confirm it is working.
• Snacks are allowed. Bring a frozen bottle of water and protein bites to keep you energized.
• When on the upper deck, cover up with sunscreen to protect your skin on hot sunny days.
• If you are a family of 3 or more, take seats across from one another so you’ll have views and photos from both sides of the bus.

Tourists were lined up at stop #1 at least an hour before departure and the line extended the entire block and rounded the corner.

We decided to see other points of interest and returned around 11:00 AM.

The wait to board the bus was about 20 minutes. It was a relaxing ride and there we saw so much!

By the time we reached stop #9, we were pumped and ready to exit the bus so that we could explore the city! And you probably will be too.

Here’s the secret sauce that really made the experience memorable. Exit at stop #9 and take a FREE ferry to Staten Island.

To see the Statue of Liberty, stand on the left side of the boat. When returning, stand on the right side.

Overall, the tour was a pleasant way to see New York city and when you are on the upper deck, you hardly notice the traffic.

Latest: Man dies in crash of van, charter bus on I-74

SHELBYVILLE, Ind. (WISH) — A 52-year-old man died in a crash of a van and a charter bus Monday afternoon on I-74 northwest of Shelbyville, Indiana State Police say.

He was identified the man as Jason Huber, of Boggstown, an unincorporated community in western Shelby County.

Nine passengers on the bus were taken to a hospital to be checked, but none of those injuries were considered to be serious, state police say. A news release issued Monday night from state police did not give any details about the charter bus owner, its driver or its destinations.

The Shelby County Sheriff’s Office sought the help of state police at the crash about 2 p.m. Monday on I-74 eastbound lanes between Michigan Road and State Road 9.

Police found Huber dead in the Dodge van that had collided with the back of the stopped bus. Traffic had been stopped in the area for unknown reasons, state police say.

State police say the interstate was closed for about two hours.

A multi-vehicle crash in Florida involving a bus believed to be carrying “migrant workers” killed eight people and left 45 others injured on Tuesday, police said.

The Florida Highway Patrol said a school bus carrying 53 people was involved in the fatal wreck on State Road 40 in Marion County around 6:30 a.m. 

The bus was carrying migrant workers who were on route to a watermelon farm, police said, with Marion County Public Schools officials confirming that no students were involved in the crash. 

The injured were carried away in another school bus, with eight of them listed in critical condition and the 37 others suffering non-life-threatening injuries,  WCJB reports . 

A witness told Florida Highway Patrol that a brown Ford Ranger traveling in the eastbound lanes suddenly moved into the westbound lanes and collided with the bus,  according to the Ocala StarBanner .

The crash forced the bus onto the shoulder, where it struck a fence and slammed into two trees, causing the vehicle to overturn, officials said. 

Images of the scene show the wrecked bus on its side and surrounded by debris from the crash. 

Authorities have shut down parts of State Road 40 as they continue to investigate the incident. 

Cannon Farms, a family-owned business based in Dunnellon where the workers were being transported to, closed early on Tuesday due to the crash. 

“We will be closed today out of respect to the losses and injuries endured early this morning in the accident that took place to the Olvera Trucking Harvesting Corp,” the company said in a statement. 

“Please pray with us for the families and the loved ones involved in this tragic accident. We appreciate your understanding at this difficult time,” Cannon Farms added.

The Marion County Sheriff’s Office did not immediately respond to The Post’s request for additional information.
