Review: Lufthansa Business Lounge Frankfurt (FRA – A26) – An Amazing Lufthansa “First Class” Business Lounge
On the whole, I’d rate the Lufthansa First Class Lounge experience to be one of the best in the industry. But did you know that one Lufthansa business lounge in Frankfurt makes you feel like you’re in the First Class Terminal ? Make your way to the Lufthansa A26 Business Lounge in the Schengen Area of Terminal 1 to find out what I mean.
Lufthansa Business Lounge Frankfurt (FRA) A26 Review
The reason is simple: Lufthansa’s A26 Business Class Lounge is a former First Class Lounge. And while this lounge no longer offers à la carte dining or a full buffet, Lufthansa left many first class elements unchanged.
First, the decor and color scheme of the lounge is like other first class lounges.
Second, sleeping rooms and lockers are still available.
Third, private bathroom stalls and the old shower rooms are intact, including a bathtub! No rubber ducky though…
Fourth, private work areas remain.
Fifth, and most important to me, the lounge offers great coffee made by a barista. Compared to the self-serve machines in every the other Business and Senator Lounges (except B-Gate Senator Lounge ), this alone is worth the extra walk to use this lounge.
The cigar lounge has been turned into an additional seating area with computers (and still reeks of cigars).
Here’s the buffet (pictures taken over many visits). Surely not first class, but still very decent.
Quite an improvement form the bowels of the pandemic, when no food was allowed inside the lounge:
There is a downside to this lounge: it gets very crowded. It’s still my favorite Business Lounge and better than the nearby Senator Lounge .
But on the whole it is worth the walk. The lounge is in the Schengen Zone, but even if you are traveling outside you can use this lounge first then transfer to the B or Z gates.
The lounge is open daily from 6:00AM to 9:30PM and is located near Gate A26 (up the escalator). Any Star Alliance Business Class traveler, Star Alliance Gold member, Lufthansa Frequent Traveler status holders, and American Express Platinum cardholders when traveling on any Lufthansa Group airlines (Austrian, Brussels, Eurowings, Lufthansa, SWISS).
I stumbled upon this lounge by accident many years ago but I was very pleasantly surprised to find it. If value coffee and you’re connecting on a Star Alliance flight within Europe, take some time to stop by this lounge rather than the one just past security.

how would you rate that against the Senator Lounges ?
Less hot food, but far better than every Senator Lounge in the A/Z gates.
Those empty bar shelves look pretty depressing.
I’m not a coffee snob, but I do very much enjoy a Latte from the WMF machines. I’d be tempted to even buy one if I could find a place for it in my kitchen.
I also don’t see any pretzels on display. Took me quite a bit to find them on my last LH lounge visit. Hope they’re not planning of enhancing them away…
Nice looking lounge. That showerhead could use a little CLR, though…
It’s been impossible to score a first class ticket with miles recently from LAX. Do you know why.
Surging demand. But MUC is an option again. I’m confident you’ll have a chance at some future point. Keep an eye on space, especially 24-48 hours in advance.
does MUC have a FIrst Class lounge??
It has two:

You didn’t finish this sentence – “Any Star Alliance Business Class traveler, Star Alliance Gold member, Lufthansa Frequent Traveler status holders, and American Express Platinum cardholders when traveling on any Lufthansa Group airlines (Austrian, Brussels, Eurowings, Lufthansa, SWISS).”
Which is better third or senator in B?
This not third
Fyi, it’s closed per the sign on the door! I was told in a different lounge that it’s closed indefinitely due to staffing shortages.
Has this lounge been renamed to the Panorama lounge or am I confusing things?
No, the Panorama Lounge is nearby, but a different lounge:

Thanks Matthew. Then it seems that the A26 Business Lounge is closed for now (as per LH’s website, and the above comment of Nick). I will check when I have my next lay-over.
From my reading LH’s website no longer shows this lounge to be closed.
Thanks Michael. I saw the same on the website yesterday, so they have re-opened this lounge. It seems Lufthansa was temporarily closing some of their lounges due to the recent ground staff issues.
Is there more than one sleeping room in this lounge? Does an attendant control access to the sleeping room(s), or it is self service?

Lufthansa Business Class Lounge Frankfurt Review
*Updated – 3/2021
The Lufthansa Business Class lounge Frankfurt in Terminal 1, departing area B, near gates B24 – B28 is where I spent my layover. I booked my business class ticket using miles accrued from my Miles & More Mastercard and from past ticket purchases. I found this lounge by looking on Lufthansa’s website and I learned there are 14 Lufthansa lounges in the Frankfurt airport. However, they all have restrictions so you need to find out which one you can enter with your ticket. Keep reading to learn more about this particular lounge.

THE LOCATION
Terminal 1 Business Lounge in departure area B, near B24 – B28. As I mentioned above, there are 14 Lufthansa lounges in the Frankfurt airport so make sure you know which one you can visit. I would recommend using the lounge closest to your departure gate, not your arrival gate. It’s easy to lose track of time and you don’t want to be too far away. My layover in Frankfurt was just over 2 hours and I was lucky enough to leave out of gate B25 so I stayed in the lounge right up until boarding.
The lounge is laid out in a circular pattern and it’s quite large. This photo only represents one section. If you look at the featured photo, when you walk past the Lufthansa sign that points to the toilets and showers, you’ll find the rest of the lounge. I was impressed with the size as there was plenty of room to spread out and not be on top of the other passengers. There are different sections such as the business center with computers and charging stations, several areas with comfy chairs and TVs, and the dining room with tables and chairs. You have plenty of options in this spacious lounge.
THE AMENITIES
- Non-smoking Lounge
- Restrooms & Showers
- Relaxing Room
- Office Units & Copy Machine
- Wireless Network & TV
- International/German Magazines and Newspapers
[At this time, the lounge is only serving a limited menu or no food at all. I will keep updating as policies change due to Covid]
While the lounge offers hot and cold food options, I didn’t find the selection to be very big. However, I wasn’t that hungry because I had breakfast on my flight from Prague to Frankfurt. It’s possible that I didn’t pay enough attention to the food that was available. Either way, I was satisfied with what I had and I was impressed by the selection of drinks. They had everything from top-shelf spirits for cocktails and beer on tap to craft lemonade and fancy coffees. Below is my sad attempt at trying out the food. Honestly, I was too stuffed to even eat any of it. I did drink loads of coffee, a glass of OJ, and a glass of lavender pear lemonade.
Getting away from the crowds of people in the terminal is worth the ticket price, alone. It was nice to have access to showers, TV’s, food, and drink. Sitting at the gate and waiting for your flight can get expensive if you’re there for a long time.
There really wasn’t anything bad, I just wish there had been more hot food (even though I wasn’t hungry). There was plenty of food but I’ve seen a few other lounges and they had more of a buffet with tons of options.
THE CONCLUSION
Overall, I enjoyed the lounge and I would go back in a heartbeat. I usually recommend for people to try to have a 24 hour + layover, as it allows you to visit another place during your travels. Nevertheless, for a short layover, this lounge was perfect. No matter what they offer, it’s a nice place to relax and freshen up. It’s worth the money!
- Download the Lufthansa App so you can get updates about your flight like gate changes and when boarding starts.
- If you’re going to shower, sign up and do that first so you can settle in and you don’t have to worry about running out of time if the sign-up sheet is long.
- Take advantage of the food and drinks. Yes, you’ll get a meal on your flight even if it’s short-haul but there’s nothing better than sitting at a table and enjoying a hot meal. So, eat!
- Charge your phone. There are U.S. 110 volt plugs next to the EU plugs so charge it up.
- If you need to get some work done, use the business center computers. They have printers too.
- Enjoy yourself. Don’t be afraid to use all of the amenities – you paid for it!

We were fortunate to experience a flight with Lufthansa and had the opportunity to explore one of its Business Lounges at Frankfurt Airport. Given Lufthansa's reputation as a top-tier airline in Europe, our expectations were high. While the lounge had its appealing aspects, it unfortunately fell short of our expectations in certain areas. Continue reading to discover our review and the changes we believe could enhance the overall lounge experience.
Covered in the Article
Business, senator or first-class lounge, food and drinks, other services, bottom line, lufthansa's lounges at frankfurt airport.
Frankfurt Airport functions as a hub for Lufthansa. The airport is composed of two terminals, with Terminal 1 being the primary point of operation for Lufthansa and its Star Alliance partners. This accounts for the variety of Lufthansa lounges present in Terminal 1.
In this article, we review Lufthansa's Business Lounge near gates B24-B28.
Lufthansa offers three types of lounges: Business , Senator , and First-Class , each catering to different passenger needs and preferences.
Business Lounge, which we visited, is mainly for business class passengers . It provides a comfortable space to work or relax before a flight, with amenities like Wi-Fi and refreshments. Also, American Express Platinum members can access Business Lounges when flying with Lufthansa.
Senator Lounges, on the other hand, are more premium than the Business Lounges . These lounges are reserved for travellers in the first class and those with LH Senator or Star Alliance Gold status. They offer more privacy and amenities than the Business Lounges, such as better-quality food and beverage options, shower facilities, and more. American Express Platinum members can access Senator Lounges when flying in the business class of Lufthansa.
First-Class Lounges represent the pinnacle of Lufthansa's hospitality. This exclusive space is typically reserved only for first-class passengers and offers an array of superior amenities. It can be found at Lufthansa's hubs like Frankfurt and Munich.
Review of Plaza Premium Lounge at Frankfurt Airport
Our Visit to Business Lounge
Our journey from Helsinki to Belgrade included a layover in Frankfurt, which provided an ideal opportunity to experience Lufthansa's Business Lounge. Despite travelling in Lufthansa's economy class, our American Express Platinum cards granted us complimentary lounge access . The lounge does not accept Priority Pass .
Frankfurt Airport's Terminal 1 houses six Lufthansa Business Lounges, serving both Schengen and non-Schengen areas . There is at least one lounge in every departure area. It's advisable to pick one close to your departure gate for convenience. We chose the Lufthansa Business Lounge near gates B24-B28 in departure area B , which was conveniently just a short stroll from our departure gate.
We have also visited a Lufthansa Business Lounge at Munich Airport.
Following the signs to Gate B24 on the airside, locating Lufthansa's Business Lounge was a straightforward task . A member of staff was stationed at the foot of the stairs leading to the lounge, tasked with checking boarding passes and credit cards. Despite her decent presence, the welcoming service was not particularly impressive. However, she inspected our boarding passes and cards and let us access the stairs.
As we ascended the stairs to the lounge, we encountered the lounge reception, staffed by several persons. It left us puzzled as to why there was a reception upstairs with idle employees, especially since our tickets had already been examined below. The lounge was far from being crowded, eliminating the possibility of restricting access as the reason. The staff seemed to be happy and friendly so we felt welcoming to the lounge. Our boarding passes were unexamined and we were freely allowed to enter.
As soon as we stepped into the lounge, its large size was the first thing that caught our attention. However, it wasn't long before we realized that the lounge bore marks of wear and tear , indicating a need for renovation. The lounge boasted a unique, curved architecture, with designated zones for relaxation, and the buffet tables placed centrally for easy access. A rear passage, which linked the lounge's distant end to the reception, accommodated the showers and toilets, offering a practical arrangement for visitors.
The lounge was well-equipped with different kinds of chairs and tables. There were plentiful power and USB outlets and some tables even featured contactless charging. A unique but a little outdated feature was the presence of phone booths - an uncommon sight in lounges. These booths are certainly useful for making phone calls, yet, despite their abundance, they were noticeably unused.
The seating areas were strategically placed adjacent to the windows that peered out onto the tarmac. However, the dark tarmac made it challenging to observe any captivating occurrences, as the windows merely mirrored the interior illumination back into the lounge.
During the daylight, the lounge must have a nice view of the tarmac.
The lounge was thoughtfully furnished with a variety of tables: dedicated work desks for those needing to catch up on business, larger tables for dining, and cosy chairs accompanied by petite tables for those seeking relaxation with drinks.
To invigorate the atmosphere within the lounge, a smattering of plants and artworks were tastefully arranged. There were also a few flight information screens even though it took time to find them. For example, one was above the buffet tables. The lounge also featured televisions.
Review of Lufthansa Business Lounge at Munich Airport
Lufthansa Business Lounge offered an array of hot and cold dishes during our visit. The menu featured Indian chicken paired with rice, alongside various salads, soups, and bread. Two kinds of desserts were served to satisfy the sweet tooth.
Lufthansa Business Lounge had self-service.
The beverages were equally impressive, showcasing a wide range of spirits, wines and beers . For those who prefer non-alcoholic drinks, the lounge had an assortment of juices and soft drinks. And of course, coffee and tea were readily available, complemented by a selection of biscuits.
The food and beverages left no room for complaints.
The lounge boasted well-working Wi-Fi, ensuring smooth and fast connectivity. A few newspapers and magazines were also available. A practical addition to the lounge had dedicated coat racks, providing a handy space for guests to hang their outerwear, adding to the convenience of the overall experience.
The reception staff at Lufthansa Business Lounge were notably friendly and approachable, offering warm smiles. This was a small contrast to the staff downstairs who, unfortunately, did not exude the same level of friendliness. Furthermore, the kitchen and cleaning staff also gave off an unfriendly impression which was somewhat disconcerting. Their lack of warmth and friendliness stood out against the otherwise comfortable ambience of the lounge.
Is Priority Pass Worth the Money
We rate the Lufthansa Business Lounge at Gate B24 at Frankfurt Airport 3.5 stars. The lounge was comfortable despite showing signs of age and needing refurbishment. It is understood that the lounge's look and feel might be reminiscent of its glory days two decades ago, but the passage of time has certainly left its mark. While the reception staff at the lounge were friendly, there was room for improvement in the behaviour of the kitchen and cleaning staff.
The lounge offered commendable service, making it a comfortable spot for layover passengers. The food and drinks offered, including warm food, cold snacks, and various beverages, were appreciated by us. Furthermore, the lounge also provided well-working Wi-Fi, newspapers, magazines, and coat racks.
Our layover at Frankfurt Airport was a pleasant experience, thanks to Lufthansa Business Lounge. The lounge was not the best one we have visited, but it offered all the services we were expecting. With renovation and friendlier customer service, we could have given the lounge one star more.
It was practical to notice that there were many Lufthansa Lounges at Frankfurt Airport. Inside the lounge, there was plenty of space. We recommend choosing a lounge close to your departure gate to avoid long walking after the lounge visit. In many other major airports, lounges are too crowded, but we got the impression that this is not the case in Frankfurt. That makes Frankfurt a nice place to spend a layover.

Guide: Miles&More Frequent Traveller
14. April 2024 Robert Guide 0
Business Class Check-In
Star Alliance Silver Status
Extra Benefits
Diese wurden mit dem neuen Statusprogramm eingeführt:
700 Qualifying Points : Ein Upgrade Voucher (eVoucher) 800 Qualifying Points : Meilentausch.
Frequent Traveller | Status erreichen
Kurz erklärt: Das neue Miles&More Programm | Status erreichen
- Business Class Langstrecke 2x 200 plus Business Class Zubringer 2x 40 = 480 Points
- Premium Economy Langstrecke 2x 80 plus Economy Class Zubringer 2x 20 = 200 Points
- Insgesamt 680 Points = FTL
Guide: Miles&More Frequent Traveller | Frankfurtflyer Kommentar

- Brussels Airlines
- LOT Polish Airlines
