Ataris to tour UK?

Santa Barbara’s favourite sons The Ataris have announced plans for a US and then European tour later this year.

In a statement released to fan site www.theataris.com the band said:

“We will be doing a short headlining tour of the u.s. and canada as soon as the record is completed. Hopefully by Mid- June at the latest. We will be playing intimate sized clubs in mostly all major cities. so no need to e-mail asking where we will be playing cause’ we will be playing somewhere near you no matter where you live.

“Probably after that shortly we will be doing shows in Europe/Australia/N.Z./Japan I would asssume at least by the year’s end. If all goes well our new record will be out somwhere around sept./early oct. but that is a very rough guesstimate at this point.

“Around that time we will obviously be hitting the u.s. and canada again for a much longer and more detailed tour.

“-keep your ears opened as things always do change. -take care, kris, johnny, mike and chris. ”

The site also suggests that the release of …Anywhere But Here II is going to be May 28, 2002. The original February release date was postponed due to complications involving the new cover and liner notes.

Also, The Ataris will be on a DVD/VHS that Kung Fu Records will be releasing February 19, 2002 entitled “Fear Of A Punk Planet” Vol. 1. The Ataris can be seen in Episode 2, “ Bouncing Souls To The Rescue ,” prefroming both “Losing Streak” and “San Dimas High School Football Rules.”

The Ataris are a punk rock band from Anderson, Indiana formed in 1995. The band originally consisted of singer/songwriter/guitarist Kris Roe and guitarist Jasin Thomason. Using a 4-Track, they wrote and recorded demos in Kris's bedroom, with a drum machine as the drummer. At this point in time the band was searching for a full-time drummer. The first step in their road to success came when Kris attended a The Vandals concert at Bogart's in Cincinnati, where he passed one of the demo tapes to The Vandals' roadie Fitz. A few weeks later, Kris received a call from Kung Fu Records, who told him they were interested in putting out their record. Though they were initially just searching for a drummer, the band signed to Kung Fu Records anyway. The label sent the tape to various drummers, and eventually the band settled on Derrick Plourde. The band then proceeded to record their debut album "Anywhere But Here", tracking the whole thing in less than a week. In June of 1997, Kris moved from Anderson to Santa Barbara, California. Shortly afterward, Marko 72 joined the band on bass. Jasin Thomason left the band to go back to Indiana, and the group toured as a three-piece from then on. After a short tour in October 1997, the original lineup disbanded. Kris reformed the group with Mike Davenport on bass, Chris Knapp on drums, and Patrick Riley on guitar. From there, they gradually increased in popularity in the underground punk scene, producing the well-acclaimed EP, "Look Forward to Failure", where they collaborated with blink-182's Mark Hoppus on one of the tracks. However, it wasn't until the release of "Blue Skies, Broken Hearts...Next 12 Exits" in the year 1999 that they started to be much more reputable. This album, along with "Look Forward to Failure", is responsible for the well-known punk rock anthem, "San Dimas High School Football Rules". Today, many of their original fans consider this the best and most hardcore album in The Ataris' catalogue. After this album, Riley left the band, and was replaced with Marco Peña. Kris Roe also took on the role of managing other punk bands such as Useless ID from Haifa, Israel. They collaborated on a split EP entitled "Let It Burn". Kris also acted as co-producer with Mass Giorgini (whose other production credits include working alongside Billie Joe Armstrong of Green Day) for a ]label]Cincinnati, OH-based band called the National Trust in 2004, an album which is as-of-yet unreleased.. After a long delay, the album End Is Forever was released in 2001. This album was a testament to Kris Roe's increasing maturity as a songwriter. Most of the songs, especially "Fast Times at Dropout High", touched on very personal and emotional topics such as losing a sibling because his parents gave his newborn brother away for adoption. Once again the lineup changed, with John Collura replacing Peña on guitar. On the 24th of June 2002 The Ataris left Kung Fu Records and signed with Columbia Records. Later in that year they recorded their 6th album, "So Long, Astoria", released on March 4th, 2003. This album was responsible for giving them their break into the mainstream audience and generated many successful singles, including "In This Diary" and their cover of Don Henley's "The Boys of Summer". After touring behind the album for most of 2003, the band began writing the follow-up to "So Long, Astoria". Much of 2004 was spent in inactivity. In February of 2004, the band released "Live At The Metro", an album containing a full concert at The Metro in Chicago, as well as acoustic tracks. Mike Davenport and Chris Knapp left the band in early 2005. Recording of "Welcome the Night" began in February 2005. Along with it came five new members - Sean Hansen filling the bass position, Shane Chickeles on drums, and guitarist Paul Carabello, Angus Cooke (Who played Cello on "End Is Forever"), and Bob Hoag on 3rd guitar, Cello, and Keyboards respectively. The group spent all of spring and summer recording at Seedy Underbelly in Los Angeles. "Welcome the Night" was orginally due out in April or May of 2006 but as of March 2006 the release date was pushed back to July of 2006. The release date of this album was once again been pushed back to possibly early 2007 after The Ataris asked to be released from their contract with Columbia Records, which the label agreed too. The "Welcome the Night" album was released in late February to an eager Ataris fan base. Unfortunately, it was not what they expected. The "Welcome the Night" album took a completely different approach to music. In a drastic deviation from his past traditions of whimsical, nostalgic pop songs, Roe used the new album to pursue a much more mature post-rock/progressive sound, an initiative which many speculate arose from the divorce of his wife and other personal conflicts. While "Welcome the Night" is certainly a great departure from The Ataris' roots, Roe has indicated that their upcoming release will attempt to return to the happy, youthful overtures that older fans have grown accustomed to. Kygo announces 2024 UK, European and North American arena tour

The Norwegian DJ will play 26 dates from September to December

Kygo has announced details of a huge world tour, taking in North America, Europe and the UK later this year – see the full list below, as well as ticket information.

The Norwegian house DJ and producer will play a total of 26 dates, his first such extensive tour since 2018.

The tour kicks off at Denver’s Dicks Sporting Goods Park on September 7, and takes in Columbia, New York, Boston, Montreal, Toronto, Chicago, Austin, San Francisco, Seattle and Vancouver, before wrapping the North American leg in Los Angeles on October 17.

Kygo then heads across the Atlantic the following month, starting in Copenhagen on November 6, and running around Europe for 12 dates. He will then round out the year with a headline show at London’s The O2 on December 11 and Dublin’s 3Arena on December 13.

Support at the shows will come from Sofi Tukker , Gryffin, Sam Feldt, Zara Larsson , Klangkarussell, Hayla, Victoria Nadine and Vandelux.

Taylor Swift will soon launch the European, UK and Ireland legs of her record-breaking Eras tour.

Over the past year, the 34-year-old pop star has been performing her career-spanning shows at stadiums around the world, including North America, Tokyo, Melbourne, Sydney and Singapore.

A month after the release of her 11th studio album, The Tortured Poets Society, she will continue the Eras tour with four nights in Paris at the La Défense Arena.

After this, she will perform two shows in Lisbon, Portugal, then a further two nights in Madrid, Spain, and Lyon, France.

UK-based fans (and those travelling to see Swift from overseas) will then get to see her live during three nights from 7 to 9 June at the Scottish Gas Murrayfield Stadium in Edinburgh, Scotland, before she heads to Liverpool and Cardiff.

Swift is booked to perform a staggering eight shows at Wembley Stadium in London, with the first three taking place between 21 and 23 June, before she returns for the final five nights of her UK and Europe tour between 15 and 20 August.

In between those, she will have also played in Dublin, Ireland, in Amsterdam, Zurich, Milan, Gelsenkirchen, Hamburg and Munich in Germany, Warsaw in Poland, and Vienna, Austria.

Ticketmaster recently announced a major update for fans with tickets to see Swift this summer.

All UK and Ireland dates will be supported by US rock band Paramore.

In a five-star review of the very first show of Swift’s Eras tour , critic Kelsey Barnes wrote how the US star guided fans through more than a decade’s worth of “her best work”.

“Her ‘Eras Tour’ was designed as a journey through that staggering back catalogue of 10 albums, from her earlier country twang on her self-titled debut to the shift to synth-pop on 1989 , then to the subdued folk and alt-rock of Folklore and Evermore ,” she wrote.

“Throughout the opening night of the tour, it frequently feels as though the audience is being caught up with Swift’s past, present and future. In the 44-song setlist that spans three hours and 15 minutes, she shows why the “era” concept is so integral to who she is. Each chapter marks a specific shift in her artistry.”

The Tortured Poets Department, released on 19 April, is the pop titan’s 11th studio album. It appears to have been inspired, in part, by the five stages of grief. Ahead of the release, Swift shared five new playlists that arrange her songs into those stages: denial, anger, bargaining, depression and acceptance.

“These songs represent making room for more good in your life,” she says in a brief audio message that accompanied the final playlist, acceptance. “Making that choice. Because a lot of time when we lose things, we gain things too.”
