10 Best Travel Trailers With 2 Bedrooms

A two-bedroom travel trailer camper is a great way for large families and co-vacationing couples to enjoy camping with a sense of personal privacy.

The following buyer’s guide reviews are designed to help you find the perfect travel trailers with 2 bedrooms.

So here are the list of 10 best travel trailers, all featuring 2 bedroom floor plans.

1.  The Jayco Jay Flight Bungalow Travel Trailer

The Jayco Jay Flight Bungalow

Specifications

  • GVWR = 13,000 pounds
  • Hitch Weight = 1,475 pounds
  • 50 Amp electrical system
  • Fresh Water Tank Capacity 38 gallons
  • Gray Water Tank Capacity 32 gallons
  • Black Water Tank Capacity 39 gallons
  • Full bathroom with toilet and shower
  • 10-gallon water heater

Jayco is an RV industry leader with a diverse line of high-quality RV’s and campers for you to consider.

The Jay Flight is one of the more popular models in their wide range of travel trailers, with the Bungalow being geared toward groups who prioritize two distinct bedroom spaces.

Several of their camper floor plans feature a true “Master Bedroom” that with the privacy you prioritize, as well as a living area that also hosts a pullout bed. This includes their 40 RLTS, as well as their 40 BHTS and 40FBTS.

In the case of the popular 40 RLTS the 2 bedrooms floor plan bedroom configuration is really meant more for a family with a teenager, rather than a pair of co-vacationing couples.

The master bedroom is more of a master suite with a queen size bed, with vanity and ward. The second sleeping area is in the main living area in the form of a comfortable couch/hide-a-bed.

The Jay Flight Bungalow also has many of the comforts of home. This includes a spacious bathroom, with a large sink and a shower. It’s even set up for an optional washer and dryer stack.

The kitchen feels very much like a conventional home kitchen. It has a three-burner range with stove and overhead microwave. It was even designed to accommodate a large energy efficient residential refrigerator.

2.  Forest River Wildwood T30QBSS Travel Trailer

Forest River Wildwood T30QBSS

  • Dry Weight 7,145-pounds
  • Fresh Water Tank Capacity of 56 gallons
  • Gray Water Tank Capacity of 60 gallons
  • Black Water Tank Capacity of 30 gallons
  • Hot Water Tank of 6 gallons
  • 13,500 BTU air conditioner
  • 30,000 BTU propane forced air furnace
  • Central kitchen with U-shaped dinette
  • 3 burner range with oven
  • Small bathroom with a plastic toilet
  • Small shower with curtain

Forest River is another powerhouse in the RV industry with a primary focus geared toward offering high-quality travel trailers, fifth-wheel campers, and a few toy haulers.

They have several affiliates that help make their line exceedingly versatile. Many models have multiple floor plans.

The Wildwood itself is available in 14 different floor plans as well as two 2 limited “Special Edition”versions for you to consider.

Within these 7 models have a distinct two-bedroom floor plan. Among these the Forest River Wildwood T30QBSS likely has the most appeal for families who need travel trailer with two bedrooms.

Technically, the second bedroom in this RV does have bunkbed options as standard, but there is room to easily convert the space to handle a queen-size bed.

The frame and total length of models in the Wildwood line can range from a relatively compact 26’10” all the way up to 39 feet.

This likely means you will need a three-quarter-ton or even a one-ton pickup truck to safely tow the larger models. In the case of the T30QBSS, you are looking at a sleek 33.83-feet.

3. Highland Ridge RV Open Range Roamer RT292RLS

Highland Ridge Open Range Roamer Floor Plan

  • GVWR or 10,400 pounds
  • Length 32-feet
  • 30,000 BTU forced air propane furnace
  • 13,500 BTY air conditioner
  • Fresh Water Tank of 50 gallons
  • Gray Water Tank of 62 gallons
  • Black Water Tank of 31 gallons
  • Modest kitchen
  • Bathroom with plastic toilet and shower stall
  •  Nice exterior features including optional barbecue package

This RV is so large enough that the manufacturer offers it as a fifth-wheel camper as well as a travel trailer.

One thing to note about this unit is that it was also designed to handle cold season camping.

While it is well-insulated and has thoughtfully engineered ducting for the forced air furnace, it might not be enough to handle the deep cold of a northern winter.

If you need to camp in the desert in the spring or fall or spend a night at altitude, this is still a great option for keeping your family toasty warm.

When it comes to families and couples who need two distinct bedrooms in their RV, the RT292RLS is probably the most appealing of their 7floor plans.

This four seasons RV trailer has one dedicated bedroom with a queen size bed and the spacious couch in the living room area then folds out into a queen size bed.

Just bear in mind that at an average gross weight of over 10,000 pounds you won’t be towing the Highland Open Range with a half-ton pickup truck like an F-150 or a Silverado .

This will take at least a three-quarter pickup truck with a diesel engine, especially if you need to tow it up a grade.

4.  Dutchmen Rubicon 2500 Toy Hauler And Travel Trailer

Dutchmen Rubicon 2500

  • Length of 35 feet
  • Dry Weight 6828 pounds
  • Fresh Water Capacity of 60 gallons
  • Grey Water Capacity or 42 gallons
  • Black Water Capacity of 42 gallons
  • 30 and 50-Amp detachable power options
  • Toy Lock to hold ATV’s and stored vehicles safe
  • 2,500-pound capacity rear door ramp
  • 3-Burner Cooktop With Oven
  • 6.0 Cubic Foot Double Door Refrigerator

Dutchmen is another trusted name in well-designed, high-quality RVs. Their Rubicon 2500 offers a little something interesting in that it’s designed to be a toy hauler that can also pull double duty as a comfortable travel trailer.

This makes it a great option for families and co-vacationing couples who want to bring ATVs, UTVs, and snowmobiles with them.

When you get to your intended campsite the spring assist door opens up and folds back to provide a heavy-duty ramp. Once you back your “Toys” out, you can get to work converting into a comfortable sleeping space.

There is a queen-size bed in the front near the tongue forward area. When you convert it to a full camper the rear sleeping accommodation hosts a special “Flap Jack” queen size bed.

A few things to keep in mind with the Rubicon is that not all models have an indoor shower. Some come with only an exterior shower.

If you intend to camp in cold conditions, you might also want to note that not all floor plans come with a forced-air propane furnace.

Though it is available as an optional extra. The unit Dutchmen recommends produces 30,000 BTUs of heat.

5.  Prime Time Avenger ATI 26BK Travel Trailer

Prime Time Avenger ATI 26BK

  • Length of 28 feet
  • Dry Weight 4763 pounds
  • Fresh Water Capacity 48 gallons
  • Grey Water Capacity 34 gallons
  • Black Water Capacity 34 gallons
  • 25,000 BTU forced air propane furnace
  • Wired for 30 Amp electrical service
  • Tub and shower combination in the bathroom
  • Outdoor speaker system included

Prime Time is a lesser known RV manufacturer. Still, you shouldn’t let their limited marketing presence put you off.

They actually that have a long history of maintaining a presence in the travel trailer niche.

Their Avenger in the 26BK floor plan has a dedicated queen bed in the master bedroom section at the front.

There is a large double bunk in the rear area as well as a sofa that could comfortably sleep a child.

It comes with an air conditioner and furnace as standard, though they are a little on the small side for a 28-foot travel trailer.

If you intend to travel in blazing hot areas like the desert, or you might also want to use it as a hunting base camp lodge, then you might want to talk to the dealer about upgrading the AC or forced air furnace.

6.  Palomino Puma31FKRK Travel Trailer

Palomino Puma31FKRK

  • Length 37 feet 8-inches
  • Dry Weight 8,655 pounds
  • Fresh Water tank capacity of 51 gallons
  • Black Water tank capacity of 32 gallons
  • Grey Water tank capacity of 70 gallons
  • Water Heater capacity of 6 gallons
  • 35,000 BTU forced air propane furnace

Palomino is an established name in the RV industry that has recently merged with Forest River and its affiliate Berkshire Hathaway.

The 31FKRK Travel Trailer is the floor plan that best mimics a two-bedroom feel. There is a dedicated master bedroom complete with a king-size bed.

A modest bathroom with toilet and shower stall separate it from the main living area. There is an optional sofa with a pull out sleeper bed that can double as a second bedroom.

However, you will need to put the bed away to use the recliners and other seated areas beside the dinette.

The kitchen even includes a spacious double door refrigerator. There are even hookups for an optional washing machine and dryer.

Weighing in at a little over 8,600-pounds dry weight, the PUMA 31FKRK could be towed by a half-ton pickup truck with an 8-cylinder engine and an upgraded tow package.

If you are planning to take it up steep hills or at altitude, you might want to take it a step further and go with a three-quarter or one-ton pickup truck.

That way you know you have the power you need to handle the grade, while also reducing the chance of trailer sway problems.

7.  Winnebago Minnie Plus 30RLSS Travel Trailer

30RLSS Floor plan

  • Length 29 feet 6 inches
  • GVWR 9,995 pounds
  • Dry Weight 8,860 pounds
  • Fresh Water Tank Capacity of 50 gallons
  • Black Water Tank Capacity of 41 gallons
  • Gray Water Tank capacity of 41 gallons
  • Water heater tank of 10 gallons
  • 15,000 BTU air conditioner

Winnebago is a former titan of the RV industry that has come down a little from their once lofty heights to just become a trusted giant.

They have a decades-long reputation for producing high-quality motorhomes which led to them expanding into travel trailers, fifth wheels, toy haulers and more.

Their Minnie Plus is one of their more popular travel trailers, with multiple floor plans being offered in recent years.

Families and co-vacationing couples who want two distinct sleeping areas are more likely to be interested in the 30RLSS floor plan.

It features a true master bedroom with a latching door, wardrobe closets and other amenities that verge on luxury.

On the far another end of the travel trailer, there is a spacious trifold couch that expands into a true full-size bed.

There is a bathroom with direct access from the master suite or the main living area of the camper. It includes a basic foot pedal flushing plastic toilet and a spacious shower stall.

The kitchen has a three-burner stove with an oven, as well as a refrigerator and pantry. There is even a galley island for laying out on the go food items.

8.  The Keystone RV PREMIER 26UDPR Travel Trailer

26udpr Floor plans

  • GVWR of 7,500 pounds
  • Length 30-feet 11-inches
  • Fresh Water Tank capacity of 43 gallons
  • Waste Water Tank capacity of 30 gallons
  • Gray Water Tank capacity of 30 gallons
  • 6-gallon water heater
  • 50 AMP electric service

Keystone is a subsidiary of the high-quality RV manufacturer Thor Industries. They have a fair number of fifth-wheel trailers that can be deployed as a two-bedroom of bunkhouse RV.

The Premier is one of their most popular travel trailer campers. It’s available in a variety of floor plans, but their 26UDPR is probably the most accommodating for families and co-vacationing couples who want two distinct bedrooms.

There is a master suite in the front with its own internal and external doors. As standard, it comes with a queen-size bed and a lot of thoughtful storage, including a laundry chute.

A spacious bathroom with a toilet and radius shower stall serves as a buffer zone between the master suite and the rest of the RV.

The main living area includes a kitchen with a gas-electric refrigerator, a large pantry, and a 3-burner range with oven.

A tri-fold sofa in the main living area can then be deployed to create a second bedroom. It’s also worth noting that as an optional extra you can swap out the sofa for a pair of comfortable recliners.

One nice thing about the Keystone PREMIER 26UDPR is the gross weight of around 7,500 pounds.

This means you could potentially tow it safely with a half-ton pickup truck with a heavy-duty tow package.

9.  The Airstream Globetrotter® 30RB

Globetrotter® 30RB floor plan

  • Gross Weight 7,600 pounds
  • Exterior Length 23-feet and 9-inches
  • 18,000 BTU forced air propane furnace
  • Fresh Water Tank capacity of 39 gallons
  • Black Water Tank capacity of 18 gallons
  • 50 Amp electric service optional with upgraded AC
  • 1000W Pure Sine Inverter

Airstream is one of the trusted and most classic names in RV travel trailers . They have a sleek look paired with a long-standing reputation for quality.

Even older models that are no longer road worthy, have enthusiasts turning them into lodging features on vista locations like the Pacific Coast Highway.

Versatility is one of the features that has helped them remain popular for so long, this shines through in the Airstream Globetrotter® and it’s 8 different floor plans.

Families who need two separate sleeping areas might want to start by looking at the Airstream Globetrotter 30RB which is a perfect small travel trailer with two bedrooms.

It has a master bedroom that comes with a queen-size bed and dual nightstands. There is also a lot of thoughtful storage as well as a space for wall mounting a flat-screen television.

There is a split bathroom with a toilet and vanity on the left. On the right side of the central hall are a spacious shower stall and a separate wardrobe.

The kitchen has a three-burner stove with an oven as well as a microwave and a single basin sink. It also has multiple cabinets and cupboards to store cookware. There is a 6.7 cubic foot gas-electric refrigerator.

The front of the Globetrotter® 30RB spends the day as a spacious lounge with seating for up to six adults.

This is really nice for times when heavy rain might trap you inside. At night the lounge can then be reorganized into a 38″ x84” sleeping area.

This type of configuration is likely more preferable for families who need a separated sleeping area, rather than co-vacationing couples.

However, it is light and aerodynamic enough to be towed by a half-ton pickup truck. This is something you can’t always say for a sturdy dual axle travel trailer.

10.  Dutchmen RV AEROLITE 2923BH Travel Trailer

2018_Dutchmen_Aerolite_2923BH

  • Length 33′ 5″

The bathroom has a toilet and a sink with well-designed vanity. There is also a bathtub-shower combination stall.

Common Travel Trailer Terminology

There are a lot of marketing and proprietary terms thrown about by RV travel trailer manufacturers that can sometimes obscure what you really get.

Sorting through some of the more popular ones in advance will help you streamline your search as well as helping you prioritize features you want in an “Ideal” travel trailers with two bedroom.

This is a term you might hear being thrown around with travel trailers. They are especially popular with hunters, anglers, and families that have multiple children.

Some of the more popular models have a master bedroom in some form and a larger living area that can be transformed into a sleeping space for multiple people.

This might be an attractive feature for you. Still, if you are looking for a true “Two Bedroom” travel trailer camper, you probably want to tend away from “Bunkhouse” models.

The people sleeping in the bunkhouse area likely won’t have the privacy they prioritize. It’s also worth noting that most bunkhouse areas rarely have beds that can sleep two, which could be an issue if you frequently travel with another couple.

Tri-Fold Couch

This is essentially the more evolved version of the classic “Hide-a-Bed” that become all the rage in the 1980s.

As the name implies it spends the day as a standard couch in the RV’s primary living area. At night, you remove the cushions and pull the mattress and frame out in three contiguous sections.

You can rest easy knowing that most modern tri-fold couches use upgraded materials and engineering.

This makes them more comfortable and quieter than the old hide-a-beds that gave this type of sleeping accommodation a bad name.

Privacy might still be an issue with this type of sleeping arrangement. If you are traveling with a teen or another couple, you might want to consider investing in something like an opaque dressing screen to deploy at night.

This term refers to a travel trailer that can be used to transport ATVs, UTVs, and even snow machines.

When you get to your intended destination, you open up the back of the camper to take the small vehicles out. The rest of the camper is then converted into living accommodation.

There are some RV manufacturers who offer toy haulers with some type of fold-down, Murphy or pull out bed.

Though most just leave this spot open allowing you to sprawl out your interior living space. In a pinch, you could use this empty space in the back to set up an air mattress on a cot frame.

A simple curtain or dressing room partition can then serve as a temporary wall offering some added privacy

As you can see, you can see, there are a lot of two-bedroom travel trailer options that are worthy of your consideration.

Some have two distinct sleeping areas or a bunkhouse room that can sleep, multiple people.

Your preferred level of privacy and the privacy needs of your fellow travelers will need to be an important factor before pulling the trigger on a specific unit.

If you’ve whittled your options down to one or two and you are still biting your fingernails, you might want to try renting one.

There are some dealerships and rental agencies who will allow you to do so, especially if you’ve shown interest in buying one of the units on their lot.

Of course, there will be some fees and insurance requirements that go with it.

Another option to consider is renting a similar unit through a second party or a peer-to-peer rental site like Outdoorsy or RVshare.

These networks allow you to connect with an RV owner who has the type of two bedroom travel trailer you are interested in. They will often let you rent it for cheaper than a dealership or rental agency.

It can also be a great way to “Pick Their Brain.” If possible, try to start up a conversation with them to see what things they like most about the unit you are interested in.

Many of these people even maintain a presence on the site’s message board forum.

Advice from RV Experts When Buying a Travel Trailer

Early autumn travel trailer came at Falls Lake North Carolina

Deciding on the Size of Your Travel Trailer

Travel trailers come in various sizes, ranging from 21 feet to 45 feet in length. The size you choose depends on your specific needs, lifestyle, and the number of people traveling with you.

Many people find that a travel trailer around 30 feet long offers an ideal blend of comfort, space, and maneuverability.

When choosing the size of your trailer, consider how much living and storage space you require.

If you plan to live in your trailer full time , you’ll likely need more space than if you were using it for occasional weekend trips.

Likewise, if you’re traveling with a large family or group, you’ll need enough sleeping spaces and seating areas for everyone.

Ensuring Adequate Storage

Two Tone Veneer Wood Cabinets in Camper Van

Storage is a critical factor in any travel trailer. Make sure there’s enough room to store all your belongings, including clothes, kitchen items, and outdoor gear.

Look for trailers with clever storage solutions like under-bed compartments, overhead cabinets, and exterior storage boxes.

Detecting Aesthetic Damage Before Buying

Check the exterior and interior of the trailer for signs of damage or wear and tear.

Look for cracks, dents, or rust on the outside, and check the inside for stains, tears, or other signs of damage.

Any issues could be a sign of poor maintenance or underlying problems.

Identifying Mechanical Damage Before Buying

Just as important as the aesthetic condition is the mechanical condition of the trailer.

Check the condition of the tires, brakes, lights, and other mechanical parts.

Also, ensure the plumbing, heating, and electrical systems are in good working order. It may be wise to have a professional mechanic inspect the trailer before buying.

Choosing a Travel Trailer Based on Your Lifestyle

Your lifestyle plays a significant role in determining the right travel trailer for you.

If you enjoy outdoor activities like hiking or biking, look for a trailer with dedicated storage for your gear.

If you love cooking, choose a trailer with a well-equipped kitchen . If you plan to work from the road, make sure there’s a comfortable workspace.

Understanding the Drain System

The drain system is an essential part of any travel trailer. It’s responsible for disposing of wastewater from the sink, shower, and toilet.

Make sure the system is easy to use and efficient.

You should also check the condition of the holding tanks and ensure they’re large enough for your needs.

Matching Your Towing Vehicle to Your RV

Your towing vehicle must be powerful enough to tow your trailer. Check the towing capacity of your vehicle and compare it to the weight of the trailer.

Remember that the loaded weight of the trailer (including all your belongings) should be within the towing capacity of your vehicle .

Common Mistakes to Avoid When Shopping for an RV

Buying the wrong size.

Young Military Couple Looking at New RV.

Purchasing a trailer that’s too big or too small is one of the most common mistakes made by RV buyers.

A trailer that’s too big can be difficult to tow and park, while a trailer that’s too small might not provide the space and comfort you need.

Always consider your specific needs before deciding on the size.

Overlooking Used RVs

RV camping trailer parked in the city

Many people automatically dismiss used trailers, but they can be a great option.

Used trailers are often much cheaper than new ones, and they can still offer many years of service if they’ve been well-maintained.

Insufficient Research

Rushing into a purchase without doing thorough research can lead to disappointment.

Take the time to learn about different brands, models, and features. Read reviews, visit RV shows , and speak to other RV owners to gain valuable insights.

Not Considering the Towing Vehicle

Townsville, Queensland, Australia - November 2021: A car and caravan parked in the shade of a large spreading tree beside a shed

Failing to consider the towing vehicle is another common mistake. As mentioned earlier, your vehicle must be capable of towing your trailer.

If it’s not, you’ll either need to upgrade your vehicle or choose a smaller trailer that your vehicle can handle.

Overlooking the Height of the RV

While length and weight are important considerations, don’t forget about the height of the RV.

Some campgrounds and bridges have height restrictions, so make sure your trailer can safely clear these obstacles.

Measure the height of the trailer, including any rooftop accessories like air conditioners or satellite dishes.

Not Asking Enough Questions

Hispanic couple of farmers discussing some papers while standing near car on backyard of farmstead

When shopping for an RV, don’t be afraid to ask questions. The more information you have, the better equipped you’ll be to make an informed decision.

Ask about warranties, maintenance requirements, and any other concerns you may have.

Getting Wrong Insurance

Proper insurance coverage is crucial when owning an RV. Make sure you research and obtain insurance that adequately protects your investment.

It’s also essential to understand what is and isn’t covered by your policy.

Hastening the Purchase Process

Buying an RV is a significant investment, so take your time and don’t rush the purchase process.

Shop around, compare prices, negotiate, and make sure you’re getting the best deal possible.

Different Types of RV Trailers

RV trailers come in various types, each with its own unique features and advantages.

Some popular types include travel trailers, fifth wheels , toy haulers, and truck campers.

Travel trailers are the most common type and are typically towed by a truck or SUV.

Toy Haulers

Toy haulers are perfect for outdoor enthusiasts who want to bring along their recreational vehicles like ATVs, motorcycles, or bicycles.

These trailers have a dedicated garage area at the rear where you can store your toys. Many toy haulers also feature a separate living space with all the amenities you need.

  • Ability to bring along recreational vehicles
  • Separate garage space for storage
  • Spacious living area
  • Can be more expensive than other types of trailers
  • Requires a larger towing vehicle
  • Garage space takes up interior living space

Truck Campers

They offer the convenience of mobility without the need for towing. These campers are perfect for those who want a simple and versatile camping experience.

  • No need for a separate towing vehicle
  • Compact and easy to maneuver
  • Can go off-road and reach remote locations
  • Less living space compared to other types of trailers
  • Restricted to the size of the truck bed
  • May require additional equipment for stability and leveling

How to Inspect an RV or Travel Trailer Before Buying

When inspecting an RV or travel trailer, start by thoroughly examining the exterior. Look for any signs of damage, such as cracks, dents, or leaks.

Check the condition of the roof, windows, and doors. Inspect the tires for wear and ensure they’re properly inflated.

Assessing the Overall Structure

Ensure that the overall structure of the trailer is sturdy and in good condition.

Look for signs of water damage or rot, particularly around windows, doors, and seams.

Pay attention to any sagging or unevenness in the floors or walls.

Inspecting Seams and Seals

Check the seams and seals on the exterior of the trailer. Look for signs of cracking, peeling, or separation.

Damaged seams and seals can lead to water leaks, which can cause significant damage over time.

Checking the Condition of the Roof

The roof is one of the most critical areas to inspect. Look for any signs of damage, such as cracks, tears, or loose seams.

Ensure that all vents, antennas, and air conditioning units are securely attached and properly sealed.

Examining the Tires

Inspect the tires for signs of wear and tear. Check the tread depth and look for any cracks or bulges.

Make sure that the tires are properly inflated and that all lug nuts are tightened.

The 10 Best 2 Bedroom Travel Trailers

Living in a travel trailer can be a great way to spend some quality time with your family. It can allow you and your loved ones to enjoy your journey together. However, if you plan on traveling with your family you are going to need the right amount of space. Two-bedroom travel trailers are necessary here. The only problem is that these kinds of travel trailers are somewhat special. They are often considered ultra-luxury models. Hence, you need to judge them accordingly to make sure you’re getting the right model. We have come up with a list of the ten best two-bedroom travel trailers.

Top 10 2 Bedroom Travel Trailers

1. the jayco jay flight bungalow travel trailer.

multi bedroom travel trailer

Weighing in at 13,000 pounds, the Jayco Jay Flight Bungalow is definitely on the heavier side of things. The hitch weight is under 1,500 pounds though, so transporting an empty trailer should be no big deal. It’s when you start adding furniture and accessories that the weight starts to reach its limit. The electrical system can put out about 50 amps. You can power a lot of necessary appliances with that much electricity. Having an electrical system that can handle such a heavy load is important. It helps make other aspects of your travels a bit easier. So you should always opt for a two bedroom travel trailer that has a capacity similar to this one.

Jayco is one of those companies that you can always rely on. Every travel trailer that they have ever made is top notch. They manage to provide maximum comfort and luxury. Their Flight series is meant specifically for those that want two bedrooms. The Jayco Jay Flight Bungalow is the perfect example of a two bedroom trailer. The most common floor plans have one master bedroom set aside. This is the main bedroom of the trailer. It is bigger than any other space in your mobile home. To facilitate more berths, Jayco usually offers a pull out couch in the living area.

The master bedroom is usually the only room with a full sized bed. It also has things like a vanity desk and the like. Hence, you won’t just be using this room for sleeping. Instead, you would be able to use it for your morning routine. As well as a bit of leisure time that you might want to spend privately for obvious reasons. This makes the master bedroom of the Jayco Jay Flight Bungalow nothing short of what you would expect in an actual residence. It has all of the comforts you would expect from a master bedroom that’s in a regular home.

The homely vibe of the Jayco Jay Flight Bungalow also extends to the kitchen and bathroom. The full shower is more than enough to help you keep yourself clean. The size of the shower also facilitates luxurious baths where you let the water flow over you. Certain small luxuries like this are necessary if you want to live a good life. They turn a regular travel trailer into something that you can use as a permanent living space. The Jayco Jay Flight Bungalow might be one of the few options that you can live in without having to compromise on your lifestyle.

2. Forest River Wildwood Travel Trailer

multi bedroom travel trailer

The Forest River Wildwood is definitely a bit lighter than most models. Two bedroom travel trailers are known to be heavy. Because they need extra space and more space usually means more weight. In spite of this, Forest River has kept the Forest River Wildwood at just over 7,000 pounds. That’s almost ridiculously light as far as dry weight is concerned.

The fresh water tank has an admirable capacity of 56 gallons. Which is enough for a small family to take care of all of its needs. The hot water tank can hold up to 6 gallons too. Hence, you can keep at least one full shower heated and ready for whenever it’s required. If you use water conservatively, at no point would you find yourself short on hot water.

Now, one thing that we really liked about the Forest River Wildwood is the U shaped dinette which means that it’s very effective at saving space. Corners are the worst thing possible if you want to maximize your use of space. You also get 3 burners in the kitchen. The extra burner will come in handy if you are traveling with your family. Larger groups require multiple burners so that they can be properly fed.

You get the usual master bedroom with the Forest River Wildwood. However, the spare bedroom has a lot of options. You can even go for a bunk bed if that’s your thing. Kids usually need a bit more space. If you have two kids, a bunk bed would work out great for them. When horizontal space is short in supply, you need to start making use of vertical space as much as possible. If you don’t want a bunkbed, a queen size bed can fit in here too. It’d be a bit of a squeeze but no so much that the room would become cramped.

Bathrooms are important too, of course. With the Forest River Wildwood you get a plastic toilet seat. The plastic used is actually quite durable. Though we did find that it has a tendency to get stained. Plastic is pretty cheap, though. You should be able to replace the seat quite easily if you don’t like it. It’s a small hiccup in an otherwise fantastically executed two bedroom travel trailer. Suffice it to say that with this mobile home you’ll find plenty of features that you love.

3. Highland Ridge RV Open Range Roamer RT292RLS

multi bedroom travel trailer

Having a shower is useful. Showering is the best way to get clean. It’s a lot better than taking a bath in a tub of some sort. However, a shower alone is just the start of what you should expect. You also need a bit of privacy with your shower. Most two bedroom travel trailers manage to offer a curtain and nothing else. The Highland Ridge RV Open Range has a separate shower stall, though. This is a massive luxury that many would enjoy. It can even allow multiple people to use the bathroom at the same time if they are comfortable enough with each other. Shower stalls also make less of a mess. The water wouldn’t splash around the full bathroom. Instead, it would stay in one place. So cleaning the bathroom after a taking a shower would be a breeze.

The water supply is also quite significant. The Highland Ridge RV Open Range offers a 50 gallon fresh water tank. That’s more than enough for a small family. Especially if you are traveling from one RV park to another. You get a lot of extra space as well. This two bedroom RV might just be one of the most spacious in the market. It helps you walk around a little indoors on your travels.

Extra space makes traveling easier. But it’s not the only thing this motorhome offers to make traveling a lot more fun. The insulation that’s provided is another contributing factor. It’s clear that Highland Ridge wanted people to be able to travel during winter. The superior insulation makes this possible. It means that your heater would only have to be left on for an hour or so. After which the insulation would trap the generated heat indoors. If you keep the doors and windows closed, the trailer would stay warm for a very long period of time. Hence, you can travel to some pretty cold locations without having to worry too much.

This trailer offers you two queen sized beds. One is a permanent bed in the master bedroom. The other is a pull out in the living area. Two queen sized beds is a real treat for people that want to sleep comfortably. A family of three with a slightly older child that’s perhaps in their teens can travel pretty easily in this two bedroom RV. Two smaller kids can also be housed fairly well here. Although if you have two teenagers or if you’re traveling with another couple this trailer might be a little too small.

4. The Dutchmen Rubicon 2500 Toy Hauler And Travel Trailer

multi bedroom travel trailer

You get a pretty appreciable fresh water capacity with this trailer. Instead of the normal 50 odd gallons, you get a 60 gallon tank. The extra water can come in handy. You’d be amazed at how far a few extra gallons can get you. They can make you travel to RV parks more comfortably. Even if water is running low, you would still have 5-10 gallons more than what other people would be able to have. Hence, this RV is great for traveling slightly longer distances. You wouldn’t face any water problems along the way at least.

This trailer provides a great family environment. Its kitchen is especially good. Not only does it have a 3 burner stove, it has an oven as well. You will find that an oven is often necessary to cook delicious meals. Otherwise you would be quite limited with regards to the meals that you can cook. An oven helps bring some much needed variety to your meals. This is especially important if you’re traveling with kids. The whole point is to have them enjoy themselves after all. It’s hard to do that when they’re not getting tasty meals.

Depending on the floor plan you get, you might even have an indoor shower. This would cost more, of course. But it would be worth it if you’re planning to travel to colder areas. It can be dangerous to shower outdoors in such areas, after all. What’s more is that you might not be able to get any hot water outdoors. People planning to travel to hotter areas don’t need to worry about this, though. They can just use the outdoor shower and save a few bucks. In fact, outdoor showers are preferable in hotter locales. They have a lot of natural beauty that you would never want to miss out on.

The 13,500 BTU air conditioner is another thing that makes this a great option for warm area travels. This trailer has clearly been made with such locales in mind. While you can certainly retrofit it to make it more suitable to frigid winters, we recommend that you go for a different trailer if that’s your thing. You should only ever buy a trailer if you’re interested in the specific functionality it has been designed for. In this case, that functionality involves climates that are a bit hotter.

5. Prime Time Avenger ATI 26BK Travel Trailer

multi bedroom travel trailer

Prime Time is a company that’s known for walking the walk rather than talking the talk. Their often muted marketing endeavors often makes it so that not a lot of people know about them. Don’t let that fool you, though. This RV manufacturer has a long and respected history in the industry. Their Avenger series is particularly notable. It’s one of the better dual bedroom options on the market. Mostly because of the smart space saving techniques that have been implemented. But also because of the diverse features that you get with the trailer itself. All of these features can contribute a lot to your overall comfort levels.

There is no shortage of sleeping areas in this trailer. Firstly, the master bedroom has a queen size bed. That should come as no surprise. It’s the industry standard after all. Then you get a double bunkbed on the other side of the vehicle. Two children can sleep very well in this setup. They won’t feel cramped and would be able to spread out a little. This makes these bunk beds great for slightly older children as well. You get even more sleeping area with the sofa.

The fact that the sofa is separate is really quite nice. It means that four people can sleep easily and there would be room for one extra person as well. Also, if your kids are sleeping on the bunkbed the sofa would still be available for you to use. Pull out beds are often frustrating. While they provide an extra sleeping area, they render your sofa unusable if people are sleeping on it. Extra seating space apart from all of the sleeping berths is a major plus point. You should keep it in mind if you are planning on traveling with a larger family.

You get a pretty decent heating and cooling setup with this RV as well. The AC offers 13,500 BTUs. That’s enough to keep at least half of the RV nice and cool at all times. The furnace is a bit on the smaller side. It only offers 25,000 BTUs which is a little low as far as furnaces are concerned. However, the fact that you have a furnace in the first place is enough. You can always upgrade it if it doesn’t meet your needs. The AC and furnace would work well enough for most common situations.

6. Palomino Puma31FKRK Travel Trailer

multi bedroom travel trailer

Palomino has truly set itself apart in this category. They know that when someone is looking for two bedrooms, they would want the amount of space that usually comes with this sort of thing. For starters, the master bedroom doesn’t have a queen size bed. Instead, it has a king sized bed. The truly impressive aspect of this sort of thing is that the king sized bed leaves room on the sides for you to walk around. This should give you a sense of how massive the bedroom truly is. And that’s just the start of the sleeping areas in this 2 bedroom travel trailer .

We will now move on to the bathroom. Palomino does admirably well in this category too. It comes with a bathroom and a separate shower. It’s also quite far away from the living area. You don’t want the bathroom to be all up in your face while you are relaxing in the living room after all. The distance helps to create a bit of separation. It also makes the RV have a more sensible layout to it. The bathroom is quite easily accessible from all areas in the RV. It’s a short walk from the master bedroom to the bathroom and that’s definitely convenient.

As for the kitchen, plenty of cool features have been added. Starting with the double door fridge. A lot of RVs that have two bedrooms don’t have adequate fridge space. This can be quite inconvenient. Two bedrooms are required for more people. Fridges become even more necessary if you have more than the average number of people in your RV. So it’s a good thing that Palomino has worked so hard to fit a fridge into the mix.

You can also add a washer and dryer if you are so inclined. The RV doesn’t come with them, but it does have spaces where you can have them installed. Alternatively you could use one of these spaces for a dishwashing machine. There is no shortage of excellent customization options at your disposal here. You can use whichever option makes the most sense to you.

The extra sleeping area in the living room is decent. It has a pullout bed that can come in handy. However, if someone is sleeping on the sofa, the living room would no longer be usable for anyone else. So you should keep this in mind before buying this two bedroom travel trailer.

7. Winnebago Minnie Plus 30RLSS Travel Trailer

multi bedroom travel trailer

Winnebago’s brand used to be synonymous with travel trailers and RVs at one point. There star has fallen a bit in recent years, though. This is partly because other companies have been started that have innovated a bit more than Winnebago. The company is still a trusted name in the industry. It’s just not the singular representation of RVs and travel trailers that it once was. The Winnebago Minnie Plus represents a lot of the milestones that this company has managed to reach. It manages to incorporate a fair amount of luxury into the mix without being too expensive to afford.

Their master bedroom is truly a thing of beauty. It’s not just a box with four walls for you to sleep in. Rather it has a lot of other amenities as well. Such as built in wardrobes. These storage spaces are perfect for long term traveling. They allow you to keep everything you need close by. Instead of putting them in storage spaces that are hard to reach. Built in wardrobes also complete the look of the master bedroom. They help make it seem like an actual living space. You will have no trouble settling into this room and making it your own.

On the other end of the RV you have the second bedroom. Winnebago has decided to go for the traditional pull out couch here. However, it should be noted that the pull out bed is not at all low quality. It turns into a full bed rather than a half hearted approximation of one. This means that the people not sleeping in the master bed are going to sleep very comfortably too. A much fairer sleeping dynamic can be created in the 2 bedroom travel trailer. There’s no point in going on a vacation if everyone is going to be too tired and cranky to enjoy it after all.

We also liked the placement of the bathroom. It’s placed in such a way that anyone can access it. You can access it directly from the master bedroom and lock it from the other side. The other door would provide access from the living area. Hence, you can use it almost like an en suite from the master bedroom. This wouldn’t prevent other inhabitants of the RV from easily accessing the bathroom either. The Winnebago Minnie Plus is a solid RV that provides a number of great features that you can make use of.

8. The Keystone RV PREMIER 26UDPR Travel Trailer

multi bedroom travel trailer

Keystone is another company that has managed to make a real name for itself. Taking one look at the master bedroom will show you why this is the case. It has not one but two doors. One would lead to the interior of the RV. Whereas the other would lead outside. It’s very convenient to have outdoor access from your bedroom. It creates a bit of separation from the rest of the RV. As well as providing some much needed privacy for the people that have taken the master bedroom.

The bathroom has also been quite smartly placed. It acts as a separator, creating more distance between the living area and the master bedroom. However, it might be inconvenient for some people that are using the spare sleeping berth. Speaking of this spare sleeping space, you get a tri fold sofa for this usage. If you don’t plan on sleeping in the living area, you can opt for a couple of recliners as well. This can be a great option for couples that are traveling alone. You can have the whole RV to yourself. Extra space is great if you want to be able to travel for extended periods of time.

The dry weight of this trailer is just under 7,500 pounds. This makes it a great lightweight option. You wouldn’t need a very heavy duty vehicle to tow it. Smaller families and single couples should have no trouble as long as they have a half ton pickup. This is the smallest car that can be used with such travel trailers. So it’s nice that Keystone has facilitated this kind of usage with their two bedroom travel trailer. It indicates that they are serious about the work that they are doing. Extra space in a lightweight package is in many ways the dream of any RV fanatic.

The fresh water tank might leave a bit to be desired. It only has a 43 gallon capacity. So you might not want to use it if you have a family of four. A couple with a small child should have no trouble, though. Couples traveling alone would have more than enough water for their needs. This is a slightly smaller RV than you might be looking for if you have a large family. But it’s benefits for couples traveling alone or those with one child make it notable.

9. The Airstream Globetrotter® 30RB

multi bedroom travel trailer

Looks matter, even in travel trailers with 2 bedrooms. You should definitely be practical by looking at real features that a travel trailer can offer you. But don’t ignore looks either. They can help make it easier for you to obtain value from your purchase. The Airstream Globetrotter is one of the nicer looking RVs on the market. Its 30RB model is a good example of a dual bedroom space that can be easily converted. The lounge is what will be converted to sleep more people. Two adults can sleep really comfortably in the living area. When the lounge area is set up for seated relaxation, up to six adults can sit their comfortably.

The bathroom’s design is quite clever. This RV didn’t opt for a single bathroom design. Instead, it went for a more innovative approach. You get a split bathroom with this RV. This means that to the left of the hall you would get a toilet that has some vanity accommodations. The shower would be on the right. You get a wardrobe with the shower as well. This means that both spaces are quite roomy. Stuffing them into a single compartment would have made it difficult to add the extra amenities. So this innovation is something that other RV manufacturers might want to follow at some point.

The design for this RV isn’t just about looks. It’s also been streamlined and optimized. Hence, you get very little drag when you are towing this two bedroom travel trailer. Aerodynamic design is crucial if you want a smooth ride.

You also get a sine inverter with this 2 bedroom travel trailer. This is useful if you want to use solar power at any point. Any family that wants to travel with ease should invest in solar power. It’s just the inverter that might put the price over your limit. Hence, by adding a 1000 watt sine inverter to the package, this RV has made itself quite an affordable option. This is enough to facilitate the 50 amp electrical system that this RV also offers.

Overall, this is a travel trailer that’s meant for a small group. The 38 gallon fresh water tank proves as much. Housing more than three people in this travel trailer would be highly inconvenient. It’s a great option for couples, though. If you are looking for something that can make your honeymoon a bit more special, this is the RV that you should ideally be going for.

10. Dutchmen RV AEROLITE 2923BH Travel Trailer

multi bedroom travel trailer

This offering from Dutchmen is a prime example of doing more with less. You get a dry weight that is just a hair under 7,000 pounds. That alone is impressive. However, when you pair it with the other amenities that are being offered you’ll start to realize that this is just the beginning. This trailer offers a massive 35,000 BTU propane furnace heater. A heater this large will keep your RV warm permanently so long as you give it a constant supply of propane. The air conditioner also offers 13,500 BTUs. So this trailer is perfect for hot weather as well as cold weather.

The living area in this RV has been thoroughly optimized. It has the requisite U shape dinette. However, it also offers you a fireplace. Fireplaces help to give RVs a much more homely and cozy setup. It would remind you of an actual residence rather than just something makeshift that has been thrown together. The entertainment center is also quite nice. There is a space for a huge TV in the master bedroom two. Parents with kids can get some alone time and watch a movie on their own while the kids do their own thing outside.

You can use the entertainment center in a lot of different ways too. The space has been made in such a way that it is versatile. Versatility is Dutchmen’s universal sales pitch after all. So it should surprise you how much they have prioritized versatility in the living space.

Now it’s time to assess the kitchen. Dutchmen certainly didn’t pull any punches in this area. They added a 3 burner stove which is mandatory in such travel trailers. However, Dutchmen didn’t stop there. They decided to add a microwave in an overhead compartment too. This is a very useful extra appliance to have. It can help your kids become a bit more self reliant since they would be able to warm up food for themselves on their own.

The sink has a double basin in it. Washing dishes won’t be too much trouble thanks to this smart sink design. Families inevitably generate a lot of dirty dishes. You need somewhere you can put these dirty dishes without them getting in the way. The double basin sink helps make this a bit easier. The dishes can pile up for a bit before you decide to start washing them.

Travel Trailer Jargon Demystified

You might have noticed that there is a lot of jargon thrown around when it comes to two bedroom travel trailers and RVs. These terms are usually marketing gimmicks from RV manufacturers. However, you need to learn what they mean before you make a purchase. Understanding these terms can help you find the right RV. Otherwise you might sign up for a travel trailer that has a couple of things that you don’t like. We will be discussing three of the most commonly used terms in the industry here. Knowing what these terms mean can aid you in your quest to find the best travel trailer with two bedrooms.

This basically means a travel trailer that has a larger living area that can be converted into a living space. Bunkhouses are great for small families. Young children don’t usually need a lot of privacy. In fact, it’s better if they are out in the open where you can keep an eye on them. They’re too young to take care of themselves. So having them sleep in the living area is great just in case something happens and they need your help.

Bunkhouses usually aren’t suitable for larger groups, though. You should avoid buying a bunkhouse if you want an actual two bedroom experience. Such setups are only worth it if you don’t want an actual double bedroom layout. They’re meant for people that can make do with additional sleeping spaces in the living area.

Tri-Fold Couch

Most two bedroom RVs will come as a pullout couch. These are often referred to as tri-fold couches. Don’t feel intimidated if you hear this term thrown around. It has the same basic meaning as a pull out couch. You might be wondering why this term is used if it means the same thing as a pullout. Well, the reason for this is quite simple. Tri-fold couches turn into beds that have three sections to them. This is different from dual section beds which are smaller and less comfortable.

Hence, you should try to prioritize tri-fold couches. A manufacturer would be sure to use this term if they actually provide a spacious pull out bed for you to use. If they’re just using the term “pull out” or “pull out sofa” then you might want to reconsider since this term is only used if the couch does not turn into a spacious bed with three sections.

This is a transportation based term. It means that you can transport smaller purpose built vehicles such as water skis and snowmobiles in the back of the travel trailer. A space will have been set aside for these kinds of vehicles. The fact that they are referred to as toys here is just a little joke. Such vehicles are only used for leisure purposes. Hence, they are called toys and travel trailers that can house them are called toy haulers.

You should try to find a toy hauler if you are an adventurous sort of person. They have plenty of space to fit such vehicles. Once the vehicles are out, the space can be converted into a living area. This means that toy haulers are some of the most versatile mobile homes that you can get. They offer a lot of other benefits too which is why we featured so many of them in our list.

Why Buy A Travel Trailer With 2 Bedrooms?

There are many reasons to seek out best travel trailers with two sleeping areas in addition to the master bedroom. Here are some of the most common examples.

You Have A Large Or Growing Family.

If you have children of various ages, that second bedroom in these travel trailers could be a godsend. Everyone will get the space they need to have a good night’s rest without the usual hazard of tripping over someone on the way to the bathroom or kitchen. Teenagers and tweens will be particularly glad for the privacy—and so will Mom and Dad. Additionally, if you have older children of opposite genders , this will make it easier to separate them.

You Like To Invite Friends Along On Your Adventures.

When two adult couples take to the road in the same RV, it can be awkward to decide who gets the bedroom and who has to suffer with the convertible dinette. A second bedroom makes for a more civilized experience, with everyone having the opportunity to relax and unwind in their own space.

You’re Traveling With Your Furry Family Members.

While it might sound crazy to buy a two-bedroom travel trailer just to make more room for your dog , it’s not outside the realm of human behavior. In 2019, Americans spent more than 95 billion dollars on their pets.

If you frequently bring your dog (or dogs) along on your camping trips, you’re sure to appreciate the extra room. They’ll even have their own bed to relax in, so you won’t have to share yours. Even if your pets prefer not to sleep in there , it will give them more opportunities to stretch their legs when they’re cooped up indoors.

You’re Going To Set It Up On A Seasonal Or Permanent Lot

You have decided to take the plunge and setup on a permanent lot. These big two-bedroom travel trailers are perfect for this as you will be most likely living in it for long periods of time.

My parents have a seasonal lot with a large rig like ones on this list. It’s great for when the grand kids visit for long weekends with plenty of room to spare.

Best Travel Trailer With 2 Bedrooms: Trailer Guide

As the name suggests, these travel trailers are remarkably lightweight, with a dry weight of just 7560 pounds. Given this figure, you might expect it to have a minimalist interior. In fact, just the opposite is true.

The main sleeping area is outfitted with a king-sized bed and two sizable wardrobes, plus overhead storage. The bathroom facilities offer a shower and sink, with the toilet located on the other side of the hall. To the rear, you’ll find a bunkhouse with a jackknife sofa that provides additional sleeping space. The dinette can also be converted to a bed that sleeps two people.

A center island with built-in sink graces the kitchen area, which also includes a fridge, microwave, and three-burner range. There’s also an entertainment center and fireplace that can be enjoyed while you’re preparing dinner. The distinguishing feature of the SS331BH, however, is the second bathroom located just outside the bunkhouse. While it consists only of a toilet and a sink, it eliminates the necessity of tiptoeing through the kitchen in the middle of the night.

Manufacturers Website

Two bedrooms—one on each end—make these Wildwood 37BHSS2Q travel trailers feel more like a home than a camper. While the rear-facing bedroom has more immediate access to the bathroom, they’re otherwise identical in terms of storage and sleeping space.

multi bedroom travel trailer

Both areas offer a queen size bed, with closets located on either side. In the center, you’ll find the spacious living area, complete with entertainment center and built-in fireplace. The kitchen is galley-style, with a double sink and overhead refrigerator. A dinette and roomy sofa are located across from the kitchen facilities.

The Wildwood doesn’t have the same flair as some of the other units on our list. While the kitchen is adequate, enthusiastic chefs might be disappointed with it. The best candidates for this camper are couples who frequently invite other couples to join them on camping trips.

Cinephiles will find plenty to love about the Minnie Plus 31BHDS 2 bedroom travel trailers, even if they’re not camping enthusiasts to begin with. In addition to the theater seating in the common area, the unit includes a second entertainment center in the rear bunkhouse. It’s such a cool setup that we would recommend this unit even if you don’t need the extra sleeping space.

The main bedroom offers a queen size bed and two wardrobes, and can be accessed by one of two sliding doors located toward the end of the bed. This dual access makes it possible to enter and exit the room without disturbing your partner. The galley-style kitchen is fairly basic, but this model includes an outdoor kitchen that beckons you to enjoy nature as you cook.

Bathroom facilities are standard yet roomy, adjacent to the second bedroom. Note that while the black water tank capacity is fairly low, the gray water tank can hold up to 69 gallons. That’s considerably more than we would expect from a travel trailer with a 50-gallon freshwater tank.

Measuring under 30 feet in length, these travel trailers are one of the most maneuverable two-bedroom travel trailers on the market. Because of its size—its dry weight is just 5,385 pounds—it’s a great choice for first-timers who just need a little extra space.

The first bedroom is cramped but serviceable, with a double bed and the same type of dual access that distinguishes the Winnebago model. In the center of the trailer, you’ll find a U-shaped dinette, a small entertainment center, and kitchen with double sink, refrigerator, and three-burner range. Counter space is minimal, but the dinette table is configured so that you can use that as a prep surface if necessary.

Wedged between the rear bedroom and the living space is the bathroom, which manages to fit a stall shower in with the toilet and sink. While the second sleeping area doesn’t have any floor space to speak of, its occupants will have access to their own closet.

With two large awnings and a well-appointed exterior kitchen, the Jay Feather 29QB 2 bedroom travel trailer is the perfect travel trailer if you prefer to spend most of your time outdoors. That’s not to say that the interior doesn’t offer plenty of benefits of its own.

multi bedroom travel trailer

The rear bedroom features two sets of bunks (one of them a double set), bringing the maximum sleep count up to 11. This room also offers a “pack-n-play” door, meaning one of the bottom bunks can be folded up to store recreational items like bicycles. A queen-size bed and two wardrobes can be found in the main bedroom. The entertainment center can be viewed from either the U-shaped dinette or the plush convertible sofa.

In the kitchen, you’ll find a three-burner range, refrigerator, microwave, and double sink. Bathroom facilities include a toilet, vanity, and corner stall shower, plus a linen closet. Despite the relatively small common area, we think active families should feel right at home in the Jay Feather 29QB.

The Alpha Wolf 29DQ-L travel trailer isn’t the largest unit on our list, but its cleverly designed interior gives it an airy, spacious feel. Though it sleeps up to eight people, we would recommend it for smaller groups or families as well.

multi bedroom travel trailer

The private sleeping areas are located on opposite ends of the trailer. Each one is equipped with a queen-sized bed and closet space, though the one at the rear has just one small wardrobe instead of two. The bathroom includes a tub as well as a shower, which is a nice perk if your kids are little. There’s also an option to enter the trailer through the bathroom, although a separate entrance can be found toward the rear.

If you love to cook, you’re bound to appreciate the walk-in pantry and residential-style refrigerator. The kitchen also offers a large sink, microwave, and stove with three-burner range. As a bonus, an exterior kitchen allows you to prepare meals while the kids are playing outside.

Relax on the jackknife sofa or oversized U-shaped dinette when you’re not busy with other tasks. A TV setup can be found just outside the pantry. In short, the Alpha Wolf is prepared to provide you with all the creature comforts without being too showy.

The Passport 292BHWE travel trailer is another lightweight two-bedroom trailer that measures under 33 feet in length. Thanks to a well-designed rear bunkhouse, it can sleep up to 10 people—though it’s probably best if most of those people are under the age of 12.

multi bedroom travel trailer

To the right of the main entrance is the main bedroom, with a queen-sized bed and twin wardrobes. The entertainment center is mounted on the exterior wall. The cozy kitchen area features a double sink, two-burner range, refrigerator, and microwave. A second kitchen area is configured along the exterior wall of the bunkhouse.

The bathroom is located toward the rear and includes a tub/shower combo. Two sets of double bunks are lined up in the rear bedroom, along with a wardrobe and built-in TV shelf. If you have young children who want to invite their friends along, the Passport 292BHWE provides you with the ideal setup.

The 2021 Jayco Jay Flight Bungalow 40LOFT travel trailer has one of the most economical floor plan on our list. Instead of taking up more of its 41-foot length with a second bedroom, it situates the bunkhouse in a loft area above the master suite. This is a cozy setup that’s sure to appeal to preteen children who want to swap ghost stories when the lights are off.

The master bedroom contains a queen bed (Jayco also offers a king-sized option for this unit), along with a wardrobe, dresser, and washer and dryer prep. In the loft, you’ll find two bed mats separated by a nightstand, a wardrobe, and a small counter area.

multi bedroom travel trailer

Just outside the bedroom area is the bathroom, which manages to find space for a medicine cabinet and a linen closet, as well as a stall shower. The front-facing living space includes a large TV, built-in electric fireplace, optional theater seating, and a convertible sofa with ottoman. An overhead fan keeps the area cool during the hotter days of the year.

The kitchen offers a large center island with double sink, a three-burner stovetop, microwave, fridge, and two pantries. Instead of a booth setup, the dining area opts for a table and chairs, which makes it easier for everyone to get up and move around. There’s also a 20-foot awning along the exterior on the passenger side.

Our list wouldn’t be complete without a model from the Winnebago lineup. The 2021 Minnie Plus 31BHDS travel trailer is equipped with a rear bunkhouse, master bedroom, and outdoor kitchen, making it a great floor plan for families of up to 8 people. If you don’t have that many kids, ask yours to invite their friends along so you can show off this remarkable unit.

The front-facing master bedroom offers a queen bed and dual entrances. To the rear is the bunkhouse, with a trifold couch and three bunks. There are USB outlets located next to every sleeping location, which is sure to appeal to the teen crowd. The room even comes with its own entertainment center.

While the bunkhouse has better bathroom access than the master bedroom, at least you don’t have to walk through one of them to get to the other.

The bathroom also has an exterior entrance, which is an awesome perk when you’re enjoying the outdoor kitchen. Speaking of which, this setup isn’t the most generous one we’ve seen, but it does come with a sink and second fridge, as well as a pull-out cooking range.

The interior kitchen is well-appointed but small, with a sink, refrigerator, three-burner range, and corner pantry. An entertainment center is conveniently located along the wall it shares with the master bedroom on the other side.

Additional seating can be found opposite the kitchen. Buyers can choose between a U-shaped dinette or a dining table and chairs, and a tri-fold sofa or theater seating. It’s a matter of personal preference, but we think the dinette and theater seating combo is the coziest option.

This is an older version of the Dutchmen Rubicon 2500 travel trailer, but adventurers are sure to appreciate the fact that it’s a toy hauler travel trailer. That means it’s equipped with a cargo bay where you can store bicycles, kayaks, and other recreational equipment.

The cargo area on this model measures 14 feet long and comes with a spring-assist ramp door for loading your gear. Above this space is the rear bunkhouse, with two power bunks that can be converted into sofas. The living room contains a roll-over sofa and table that can be used for additional sleeping space during the day.

The galley kitchen is located along the driver’s-side wall and consists of a small double sink, three-burner range, refrigerator, and pantry. An entertainment center is tucked into the corner outside the bathroom. These facilities are also on the snug side, but they do manage to squeeze in a stall shower. Note that the freshwater tank holds an impressive 82 gallons, so everyone can bathe even if the rig is filled to capacity.

A front-facing master bedroom offers a queen bed, wardrobe, and nightstand. There’s no direct bathroom access, but the facilities are located just outside the door.

As for outdoor amenities, the toy hauler aspect is really all this unit has going for it. For some groups, however, that should be more than enough.

The 2021 CrossRoads Sunset Trail Super Lite SS242BH ultra lite travel trailer has a dry weight of 5,231 pounds, making it a good choice if you don’t have a heavy-duty towing rig. There’s also an outdoor camp kitchen complete with a second refrigerator, which allows you to spend most of your days relaxing in the fresh air.

Unlike most of the travel trailers on our list, this one offers a king-sized bed as a standard option. The master bedroom also has a fair amount of storage space, but no dresser or entertainment center.

multi bedroom travel trailer

The living area has a floor plan layout that would be confusing if the space was any bigger. On one wall, you have a U-shaped dinette and refrigerator, while the rest of the kitchen facilities and the entertainment center take up residence on the opposite side. Fortunately, all of these things are still in close proximity to one another, so it’s not a serious issue.

While the bathroom includes a generously-sized shower, the freshwater tank in this unit holds only 45 gallons. Be sure to mention that to any campers who are notorious for taking a long time in the shower.

The bathroom facilities are adjacent to the rear bunkhouse, which includes a set of bunks that measure 50 by 74 inches. Be forewarned that this sleeping space is cramped to the point of feeling claustrophobic. Just outside is a wardrobe that can also be used as a pantry if you don’t need the extra closet space.

Unlike many two-bedroom travel trailers, these Bungalow 40BHTS travel trailers have a layout that gives the occupants of both bedrooms equal access to the bathroom facilities. While that also means that the bedrooms are in close proximity to one another, this is a definite perk for families.

multi bedroom travel trailer

Entry is toward the rear in the Jayco Jay Flight Bungalow travel trailer , with the main bedroom just to the left. This room contains a queen-sized bed, wardrobe, dresser, and single nightstand. The second bedroom offers a sofa/bunk combination, along with a desk and additional wardrobe. The bathroom is wedged neatly in between the two rooms and includes a stall shower.

The living space is gorgeously appointed, with a built-in fireplace beneath the entertainment center. Large ceiling fans can be found in both the living room and master bedroom. If you still need more beds, the sofa folds out into a surprisingly comfortable sleeping space. Kitchen facilities include a microwave, refrigerator, double sinks, and four-burner range.

In Conclusion

Having a travel trailer with two bedrooms gives everyone more space and privacy on long camping trips. Although you’ll have to get used to maneuvering a fairly large unit, there are models available that combine space-saving with the luxury of a spare room.

Best of luck, and happy camping!

Why Are Mid-Size RV Master Bedrooms Too Small

Contortionism belongs in show business, not in RV master bedrooms that are too small. Sometimes it can feel like you have to become “Flexo the Fantastic” just so you can crawl into your travel trailer’s bed at night. Once you’re in position, you can think to yourself, what were the RV engineers thinking when they made this RV master bedroom too small?

We’ll explain why travel trailer manufacturers make 25-35 foot RV master bedrooms too small, and the logic behind it. You’ll learn about the added features RV designers place in the bedroom to make the space feel less claustrophobic. We’ll show you the most common floorplans that customer reviews say the RV master bedroom is too small, and how to make the most of it.

The 8 Best Examples of Small RV Master Bedrooms With a Lot of Space

1. coachmen freedom express ultra-lite 238bhs: travel trailers with murphy bed.

  • Length: 25.9 ft.
  • Dry Weight: 5,314 lbs.
  • GVWR: 7,600 lbs.
  • Master Bed: Residential Queen-size Murphy bed

Even though the murphy bed dates back to the 1800s, we didn’t see it in the RV world until the Modern Era (2008- Present). The biggest misconception about murphy beds is that they don’t have “real” mattresses. RV manufacturers create a deep cavity behind the movable frame so 10-inch thick mattresses can fit. This type of floorplan makes the small RV master bedroom a non-issue both day and night.

Coachmen’s Freedom Express Ultra-Lite 238BHS makes the most out of the murphy bed as the ultimate space-saving device. By day, the bed folds up, so you have sitting space on the sofa. You won’t have to remake the bed or take any additional steps beyond flattening the jackknife sofa, pulling the murphy bed’s locks, and guiding it in place. There isn’t a wall at the foot of the bed that limits the space, and the wide side walkways won’t push you against the sidewalls.

The kids will enjoy their full-size 50-inch x 74-inch bunk beds and can pull the privacy curtains so they can enjoy their own pocket universe. With a pair of Bluetooth headphones, you can adjust the LED TV above the kitchen counter and finish the night with your favorite streaming show.

2. Winnebago Micro Minnie 2108TB: Travel Trailers With Dual Twin Beds

  • Length: 22.7 ft.
  • Dry Weight: 4,040 lbs.
  • GVWR: 5,500 lbs.
  • Master Bed: Dual RV Twin OR King with bridge pillows

What’s old is new again. A significant portion of people thinks RVs with 2 twin beds are for those old-world “fuddy-duddies.” The reality is: this floorplan sells well among the young “whipper-snapper” Millennials and other age groups who are young at heart. The dual twin beds have many advantages:

  • There’s more under-bed storage than with a double bed.
  • The bridge pillows convert the twins into a king-size bed.
  • The wide gap between the beds makes it easy to get in and out of bed.
  • You don’t disturb the other person when you get out of bed.
  • If you bring a friend on your RV trip, and your relationship has boundaries, everybody can be comfortable and have personal space. If the nature of that relationship changes, see number 2.

Winnebago’s Micro Minnie 2108TB gives you the added benefit of being an RV with a rear bathroom. The all-in-one dry bath takes up the full width giving you an oversized shower and plenty of room to move around. In addition, Winnie places the dinette on the off-door slideout, providing plenty of walking room around the coach. For additional counter space, the Flying W also adds a flip-up counter for extra meal prep surface space.

3. Dutchmen Kodiak Ultra-Lite 201QB: Travel Trailers Without a Slideout

  • Length: 24.1 ft.
  • Dry Weight: 4,072 lbs.
  • Master Bed: Residential Queen

Couples looking for a travel trailer to tow with their Rivian R1T for weekend trips an hour or two from home may want to check out the 201QB. This little giant makes an excellent mobile HQ when you’ve completed that 15-mile hike or conquered those Class IV rapids. Get your free copy of the June Edition of RV Camping Magazine to learn more about the all-electric pickup truck Rivian R1T’s towing potential.

The Dutchmen Ultra-Lite 201QB gives you an open floorplan, so you don’t have to worry about interior walls or narrow side walkways around the front residential queen-size bed. The space inside this non-slideout is massive for a travel trailer under 30 feet. The all-laminate flooring is easy to clean up if you bring in some dirt and mud from your adventure. In addition, you’ll enjoy the large corner shower as you “decontaminate” and become a person again.

As you sleep that night dreaming about your incredible adventure, your truck’s providing power to your Kodiak travel trailer for the RV alarm system . This time, that bear will think twice about coming around your campsite.

4. Heartland North Trail 22RBK: Travel Trailers Without a Separating Wall

  • Length: 26.35 ft.
  • Dry Weight: 4,852 lbs.
  • GVWR: 6,900 lbs.
  • Master Bed: Comfort Select Short King

Open space floorplans also come in RVs with slideouts. You’ll find them in travel trailers under 30 feet, but RV manufacturers do make them for couples and families. The Heartland North Trail 22RBK adds a privacy curtain to the front master bedroom. The best way to avoid an RV master bedroom that’s too small is completely removing the wall.

That’s due to the U-shaped dinette on the off-door slideout. The large dining furniture piece seats six, so you can invite guests for a meal, remove the pedestal table to use it as seating, or convert it for additional sleeping for two.

Before you glance over this mid-size RV, take a look at that master bed measurement again. It’s very rare to find a king bed in a travel trailer under 5,000 pounds. Usually, RV companies will restrict a lightweight trailer to a queen or short queen since it’s an easy way to reduce the dry weight. Instead, Heartland added the larger mattress, king-sized dinette, furnace (30k BTU), extreme cargo carrying capacity (2,016 lbs.), and other features.

Heartland finishes the floorplan with a rear bath that shares the door sidewall with an RV outdoor kitchen. Within the bathroom space, you’ll find deep cabinet storage space at shoulder level. The space underneath those cabinets holds the refrigerator, pull-out sink, and slideout counter that make up the exterior kitchen.

5. Jayco Jay Flight SLX 8 267BHS: Travel Trailers With 2 Bedroom Entrances

  • Length: 30.4 ft.
  • Dry Weight: 5,840 lbs.
  • GVWR: 7,000 lbs.
  • Master Bed: RV Queen

RV manufacturers created a floorplan that has two entryways from the living room to the master bedroom. This idea eliminates the need to walk between the foot and the interior wall. It’s a design technique that gives the master bedroom users doors to close off the space with something better than a curtain. The side windows on each wall make the room feel more open with natural light. In addition, the walkways are broad enough so you can get dressed.

The 30 and a half foot Jayco Jay Flight SLX 8 267 BHS is a bunkhouse travel trailer with an outdoor kitchen. The coach has the perfect design for a growing family. The shower is tub-styled to wash up the little ones, and the dinette or jackknife sofa is a good starter sleeping space for toddlers. The double bunks are entirely closed in by walls, except for the foot corner, to keep them safe from rolling out. Your teenagers will enjoy the privacy curtain to get away from everyone that “doesn’t understand.”

6. Keystone Springdale 274RB: Travel Trailers With Dual Entry Doors

  • Length: 31.7 ft.
  • Dry Weight: 7,026 lbs.
  • GVWR: 9,520 lbs.

The Keystone Springdale 274RB will surprise you with the walk space at the foot of the bed. A lot of it has to do with the secondary entrance. According to the RV building codes set by the RV Industry Association (RVIA) and other authorities, all motorhomes and travel trailers require 2 exits in every room for safety measures. Travel trailers over 30 feet must have a second door instead of an escape window.

To make the most of these second doors, RV manufacturers use the secondary door in some units as an entryway into the bathroom so that it can double as a mudroom. In this case, the front secondary door also acts as a convenient place to store your long items as you travel. For example, your bikes, kayaks, or other things that are too tall for the pass-through storage bay will fit in place between the bed and the interior walls. The extra space also makes the getting dressed routine less acrobatic.

Another great feature has to be the walk-in pantry next to the main entry door. If you also use your travel trailer for tailgating, the pantry is a great place to store your tables and other gear. So whether you pull in for the big game or your children’s weekend playoffs, the RV’s outdoor kitchen will outshine the other team’s tailgate pre-game get-together any day of the week and twice on Sunday.

7. Lance 2465: Travel Trailers With a Rear Master Bedroom

  • Length: 29.5 ft.
  • Dry Weight: 5,875 lbs.
  • GVWR: 7,800 lbs.
  • Master Bed: Deluxe King

You’ll find that RVs with rear master bedrooms have the height, width, and desired walk-around bed space you want. If you’re looking to work from the road and want a mid-size travel trailer with office space, check out the Lance 2465. The long desk is big enough for two people to work on, but if you need your own private space, the edge of the dinette makes a great second RV workstation.

If you end up working late into the night, all you have to do is rotate your office chair, and your king-size bed is right there. Even if you choose the optional dual 190-watt solar panel system, before you do your zombie crawl into bed, make sure you turn everything off. If your partner wakes up before you and can’t use the coffee maker because you drained the house batteries, you won’t like the words they use to wake you up to express their frustration.

8. Airstream Flying Cloud 30FB Bunk: Airstream North/South Master Bed

  • Length: 30.10 ft.
  • Dry Weight: 6,672 lbs.
  • GVWR: 8,800 lbs.
  • Master Bed: RV Queen (60-inch x 75-inch)
  • Lower Bunk- Residential Full (54-inch x 76-inch)
  • Top Bunk: Narrow Twin XL (30-inch x 78-inch)

So far, we’ve discussed the corrugated aluminum paneled conventional and laminated fiberglass paneled travel trailers that make up most of the RV trailer category. We didn’t mention the doubled-hulled molded fiberglass towables since the longest versions have living spaces under 20 feet. Then there are the Airstream s; they are a subsector all their own.

You’ll find a lot of information on the new Flying Cloud 30FB Office (check out the September issue of RV Camping Magazine), but some neglect the floorplan it’s based off. The 30FB Bunk has a near residential full-size bunk where the office space sits and an extra-long twin top bunk with a built-in roll guard above.

The master bedroom has side bed walkway spaces more expansive than virtually any other brand out there. Airstream rounds the mattress’ foot corners, making it easy to get around the bed. Before you consider replacing that mattress, remember, Airstream only works with the best vendor brands. The pillow top memory foam mattress meets the demandingly high standards the RV company expects from its suppliers.

The Engineering Logic Behind RV Master Bedrooms That Are Too Small

The Engineering Logic Behind RV Master Bedrooms That Are Too Small

The best way to explain the engineering logic behind RV master bedrooms that are too small is through a demonstration. So grab a piece of paper and a pen or pencil and follow the directions below.

  • Draw a rectangle that takes up most of the page. Don’t make the rectangle too small because it’s the exterior walls of the travel trailer you’re designing.
  • At one end, draw a square to represent a queen-size bed centered on the narrow wall.
  • On the other end, we will make this unit a rear kitchen floorplan, so add a narrow but long rectangle against the short end of the interior wall as the countertop. Next, add a small square for a fridge and a wide rectangle against one of the long sides for the dinette.
  • Somewhere in the middle of the interior trailer border, place a rectangle to represent a sofa on one sidewall and a narrow rectangle on the opposite wall for the entertainment center. Don’t forget to add the entry door.

The example rear kitchen travel trailer we designed together is a simple design. Yet, it’s the basic premise of how RV engineers create the various models. The complicated part deals with adding other features, making sure the coach hits target weight specifications, and keeping to deadlines. Of course, keeping the manufacturing within the financial budget can’t be ignored.

When you look online or walk through the RVs, you’ll notice that you’ll see the same floorplan throughout all the brands in the category and subsector. That’s because the design works. When one engineer figures out a design idea, you’ll see that same idea in the other RV brands by the next model year. The real trick is to be the first one to discover the design concept.

How Do You Make the Most Out of a Small Living Space?

How Do You Make The Most Out of a Small Living Space

One of the basic premises RV engineers live by, is to make the most of every square inch of living space. In addition, the RV manufacturers assume their customers want to make the most of their coach while they’re awake. So if moving an interior wall adds more living room space within authoritative guidelines and consumer tolerances, they’ll do it.

The RV companies generally believe that the master bedroom is for sleeping purposes. It might be a tight squeeze to get to either side of the bed, but the payoff is a larger living room full of near residential-sized furniture, appliances, and features people spend most of the time using while they’re awake. That’s why RV master bedrooms are too small.

RV brands have learned to take this approach through customer surveys and feedback throughout the years. You’ll find that some floorplans in the mid-size travel trailer subsector offer a large living room and lessen the RV master bedroom being too small better than others. One of the best tricks RV designers use is adjusting the size of the master bed mattress, giving the sides and end walkway up to 5-inches of extra space.

Finding Space Through RV Bed Mattress Sizes

Travel trailer designers find space through RV bed mattress sizes. Have you ever tried to make your RV’s queen-size bed with your home bed sheets? Did you find that the fitted sheet didn’t fit correctly? There’s a reason for that.

In the residential mattress world, a queen bed is 60 inches by 80 inches. Your motorhome or travel trailer could have a full XL, short queen, RV king, or some other variant in the RV world. Manufacturers developed RV mattress sizes throughout the years, creating extra inches for walkways, cabinetry, and closing slideouts correctly.

If you have an RV master bedroom that’s too small for comfort, decreasing your bed’s mattress size could be the answer. Mid-size travel trailers usually have a residential or short queen mattress that’s larger than the bed platform. Opening up those side walkways could be as easy as changing the mattress to a short queen or full XL mattress.

Our friends at Tochta create the best standard and custom mattresses for homes and RVs . They explain standard sizing of residential and RV sizing well in a chart that shows the width and length in inches:

Tochta memory foam technology allows them to build custom mattresses that can range:

  • 2-10 inches thick
  • 2-88 inches wide
  • 2-100 inches long

If you have an RV with a rear corner bed, you may need one corner rounded or cut diagonally to fit the space correctly. Many of the full-size bunks require one corner to be cut diagonally for walkway space reasons.

If your RV has a non-residential-sized mattress, you’ll have the best luck finding bed sheets on Amazon and at various camping stores. RV sheets come in the best solid colors and patterns that’ll complement the decor of your motorhome or travel trailer. There are also specialized RV-themed sheets.

Where Can I Find Travel Trailers With Big Bedrooms

want to find travel trailers with big bedrooms or full master suites, set your filters to full-length travel trailers. If you’re going to go up to that level, look into the Ford Expedition with the heavy tow package (9,300 lbs. tow capacity) or a gas-powered 150/1500 series pickup truck. All of that space and luxury features need serious muscle to cruise the highways of America.

8 Best Rear Bedroom Travel Trailers (2023)

multi bedroom travel trailer

About the Author

Tom Davidock

One of the most exciting parts of buying a new RV is looking at the variety of floorplans and determining the best option for your camping style and needs. However, it can also be stressful since many makes, models, and designs are on the market. A unique option found in only a handful of travel trailers is a rear bedroom setup.

interior of rear bedroom RV

Rear bedroom travel trailers are particularly suited for campers who prioritize privacy and quietness, as well as those who value a functional and spacious living area. Here are the key reasons why I feel they are a great choice:

  • Enhanced Privacy and Quiet : The rear bedroom offers a secluded, tranquil sleeping area, away from the usual front-end campground activities.
  • Spacious Living Area : Relocating the bedroom to the rear frees up the front section for a more open living, dining, and kitchen space.
  • Flexible Design Options : These trailers often include features like large kitchens, additional sleeping options like bunk beds, and versatile living spaces, catering to a range of preferences and needs.

Over the past several years, I have helped thousands select their ideal RV, and I have seen many RV buyers specifically seek out this floorplan, simply because it offers a unique blend of comfort, functionality, and adaptability. My top choices for current models are listed below. However, check out my full review and more in-depth review of each model further down in the article.

Top Rear Bedroom Travel Trailer Models

What is a rear bedroom floorplan.

A towable RV, including a fifth wheel and travel trailer, will have a variety of floorplans, but most will have the master bedroom in the front of the unit. In a rear bedroom floorplan, the master bedroom is in the rear while the kitchen or living area is upfront. While these are a little easier to find in a fifth wheel , you’ll need to seek one out in towable travel trailers. However, this unique design can provide just the look and feel you want. Sometimes it’s worth the extra effort to find the right RV for you and your family.

A rear bedroom offers several benefits, primarily because it moves the sleeping area to the quietest area of the trailer. Since most campsites are back-in only, most of the activity at the campground happens near the front of the RV. As a result, you’ll have traffic from RVs driving by, kids playing, and people walking around the campground. While the noise reduction is minimal, it may be enough to make a difference for a light sleeper or someone who works odd hours and needs to go to bed early. This is one of the main reasons campers seek out rear-bedroom travel trailer floor plans.

Rockwood RB

Front bedroom floor plans can often limit the layout of the rest of the travel trailer. When moving the bedroom to the rear, the front half of the RV becomes available for cooking and entertaining. Some models will also have a rear bathroom, which keeps a camper’s private space private while allowing guests and visitors to relax in a large open space living and dining area.

Travel trailers with rear bedroom floor plans will have some other options to choose from. For example, you’ll find toy haulers, a set of bunk beds, a front living room, and a front kitchen. A larger travel trailer typically offers a bigger kitchen if you opt for a single-bedroom unit. Large residential-style kitchens are great for couples looking for a travel trailer for full-time living. In addition to a more relaxed dining space, you’ll benefit from bigger kitchen appliances, increased kitchen counter space (some will have a kitchen island), and more room to move around.

How to Read RV Model Numbers

The nomenclature for RV floorplans can sometimes be a little daunting. However, some naming standards make the process a little easier, especially when trying to scan a variety of offerings from an RV manufacturer quickly.

Most RV models will begin with a number and end with letters. The number generally represents the length of the unit if it’s a “2-digit” number of square footage if it’s a 3″ digit number.” If you notice an RV with a 4-number identifier, the first two numbers are likely the length, and the last two will be a unique identifier for the unit.

Rows of campers at RV show

When it comes to length, however, look at the specifications for the unit as well. The model number lengths may not give the overall length of the RV and may only account for the living area. While in today’s world, larger means better for many things. However, buyers typically want a smaller RV that feels bigger. Hence, manufacturers tend to use the shorter length for the RV in the model numbers.

Following the numbers are letter codes intended to highlight the layout of the floorplan. Most manufacturers adhere to a universal standard, but some may choose not to do that. Some codes can be redundant, meaning that a Front Queen Bedroom (FQ) and Rear Kitchen (RK) can look identical. However, the codes tend to highlight the uniqueness of the RV rather than the standard layout options.

Below are some of the most common model codes (actually model letters) that can help you decipher the various layouts on the market:

Bathroom Floorplans:

Fb : front bathroom, rb : rear bathroom, bedroom floorplans:.

In RVs with separate bedrooms, it’s not uncommon to see this highlighted in the model number. However, for travel trailers, the most common location for the bedroom is in the front. So, if you are looking for a rear bedroom model, there’s a good chance that the model number will identify this option. In the model number, “F” means Front, “R” means rear, and the following letter represents the bed size. So, for example, you may see the following:

FK : Front King Bed

Fq : front queen bed, rq : rear queen bed, rk : rear king bed, tb : twin bed.

You may also see variations in bed size in the model number. These are represented as the following.

Q/QB : Queen Bed- Standard

K/kb: king bed standard, bunkhouse models:.

Bunkhouse floorplans are very popular in travel trailers. Therefore, if it’s a bunk model, you will likely see this listed in the model code. For example, you may see it identified as one of the following:

BH : Bunk House

Br: bunk room, mb : mid bunk (room or house), kitchen floorplans:.

Kitchen Floor Plans will highlight the location of the kitchen area, which may include the appliances, sink, countertops, and dining area. While many RVs will have full kitchens, you may not always see this listed in the model code. For the most part, if the kitchen isn’t highlighted in the model number, it’s likely a mid-kitchen, which is the most common layout.

FK : Front Kitchen

Rk : rear kitchen, ik : island kitchen, ck : rear kitchen, ok : outside kitchen, bg : bar and grill, living room floorplans:.

In living room models, you’ll see both “L” and “E.” Both will refer to the living and entertainment area, which usually consists of a sofa/recliners and a TV/entertainment center. If the model uses an “E” instead of an “L,” it will usually mean that the unit has an upgraded entertainment center.

FE : Front Entertainment

Fl : front living room, re : rear entertainment, rl : rear living room, rs : rear sofa, ge : grand entertainment, slide-out floorplans:.

This is represented in the model number in some RVs with slide-outs. While not every RV will use this code, it’s possible to see it tagged onto the number. Below are some of the common various for slide-outs:

DS : Dinette slide-out

S : single slide-out, ss : super slide-out, ts : triple slide-out, ws : with slide-out.

While this can all seem a little confusing, the model number can give you a general sense of the layout and floorplan of the RV. Almost every RV will have a top-down schematic of the floorplan, so it’s not too essential to search only by model numbers. However, it can be a good tool if you’re scanning a list of available models that a particular RV manufacturer offers.

Model Numbers for Rear Bedroom Travel Trailers:

Now that we got that out of the way, how do you use this to find a rear-bedroom travel trailer? Luckily, most RVs will only have a bedroom in either the front or rear of the RV. So, the types of coding you will want to look for in the model number will be anything that identifies the bedroom in the rear or lists another feature in the front of the trailer.

The model codes in this category include RQ, RK, FL, or FE. However, use this as a starting point, and it’s always best to inspect individual floorplans to ensure it has the layout you want.

Now, let’s look at some of the best travel trailers with a Rear Bedroom layout.

I recently had the pleasure of checking out the 2023 Forest River Rockwood 8264BHS Trailer, and let me tell you, it did not disappoint. This trailer is a fantastic choice for families or couples who want a spacious and versatile travel experience.

Let’s start with the basics. The trailer has a hitch weight of 1,000 lb., a UVW of 8,279 lb., and a CCC of 1,521 lb. It’s 29′ 11″ in exterior length, 11′ 7″ in exterior height, and 96″ in exterior width. That’s a lot of space to work with, and Forest River has made the most of it. One of the standout features of this trailer is the bunkhouse design. The single over single bunks are located in a convenient spot that doesn’t detract from the living area or bathroom space. The front kitchen is also a highlight, with a great view out the front window and plenty of counter space for all your cooking needs.

Regarding the exterior, the Rockwood 8264BHS has plenty of features to make your camping experience comfortable and convenient. The laminated white or champagne color fiberglass sidewalls are durable and stylish, while the power awning with adjustable rain dump and LED lighting provides shade and illumination. There is also an outdoor kitchen with a griddle with LP hook up, an outside shower with hot & cold water, and outside speakers to make outdoor living more enjoyable. Plus, you can upgrade to a 200W roof solar panel with a 1000W inverter if you want to do some remote camping.

The interior of the trailer is just as impressive as the exterior. The multi-zone stereo with DVD, CD, AM/FM, and Bluetooth control is a great entertainment option. There’s even a One Control Touch Button Control Panel with WeRV App Control that lets you easily control your lights, awnings, slides, water heater, water pump, and WiFi power from your smartphone.

The living area is comfortable and inviting, with marine-grade carpet in the slides, a LED TV with an upgraded speaker system and subwoofer, and deluxe theater seating with adjustable lumbar support and USB outlets. The bedroom is equally impressive, with a carpetless main bedroom floor, under-bed storage space, and individual reading lights. Final Thoughts

A rear-bedroom RV floor plan is an excellent option in a travel trailer and is a popular choice for campers who value a little extra quiet at the campground. The unique layout also provides plenty of room for a larger kitchen and a relaxed living room. If you’re looking for this layout but need room for the  whole family , check out a bunkhouse layout with a rear bedroom. Several of my favorite ones were listed above.

While front bedroom layouts are the most common, many great alternatives are available if you’re willing to shop around. Start by reviewing the various models online on the manufacturer’s website pages. From there, you can do a virtual walkthrough of most RVs, look at pictures and specs, and then schedule an appointment at a local dealer to see the ones you like the most.

If you like the look and feel of 5th wheels but the affordability and ease of towing a travel trailer, choosing a rear bedroom type of floor plan can be a good option. It provides easy access to the kitchen and living areas while keeping your private space out of the way. We looked at some good examples in this article, but since new models are added regularly, it’s worthwhile to ask your dealer about new layouts.

As mentioned above, visiting an RV show is a great way to shop for an RV. You will be able to walk through many different models and layouts from many different RV manufacturers. The retail prices are also lower, and you can get closer to a wholesale price if they need to move a unit. Check out this  great article  on getting a great deal at an RV show.

Also, when budgeting for your RV, remember to think about your tow vehicle and plan for other costs like sales tax, registration tags, delivery fees, etc. You can use some great online calculators to estimate your calculated payments at a specific interest rate.

Good luck in your RV search, and please leave a comment about the RVs you like the best. It may help others with their decisions.

The 8 Best Small Travel Trailers With Twin Beds (Under 24 FT)

Forest River Rockwood Geo Pro G15TB

One of the most popular types of RVs on the road today is the small travel trailer.

Thanks to their ease of use, affordability, and lightweight design.

However, one of their biggest drawbacks is their limited sleeping capacity, which can be both challenging to use and uncomfortable.

The good news though is that RV manufacturers are beginning to address this shortcoming with creative sleeping options, like pop-out sleeping berths, twin beds, and bunks .

Among these, twin-bed floor plans stand out though, as they provide better accessibility, improved walkability, and more flexible sleeping accommodations .

Which comes in handy on smaller travel trailers.

So for those looking for all the benefits of a small travel trailer but don’t want to compromise on comfortable sleeping accommodations, you’re in the right place.

In this blog post, we highlight the best small travel trailers with twin beds .

Top Compact Campers With Twin Beds (Smallest to Largest)

1. forest river rockwood geo pro g15tb, quick specs.

  • Average Cost : $24,000
  • Length : 15 Feet 8 Inches
  • Dry Weight : 2,667 Pounds
  • Sleeping Capacity : 2
  • Bathroom : 2-Piece Wet Bath
  • Slide-Outs : None

The Forest River Rockwood Geo Pro G15TB , the sister RV to the Flagstaff E-Pro E15TB , is the smallest travel trailer available with twin beds , measuring just under 16 feet in length.

This distinction makes it not only the tiniest camper with twin beds but also one of the most compact fully-contained travel trailers on the market.

Forest River Rockwood Geo Pro G15TB Floorplan

Forest River Rockwood Geo Pro G15TB Floorplan

As the Geo Pro G15TB also offers a two-piece wet bath and a small kitchenette in addition to its twin beds.

Which when combined with its 200-watt solar panel, 1800-watt inverter, dual propane tanks, and shower-miser, allows the camper to boondock for extended periods of time.

The utility doesn’t stop there though, as even the twin bed setup in this Rockwood Geo Pro offers lots of flexibility.

Forest River Rockwood Geo Pro G15TB Bed

As the twin bed can be configured into three different arrangements, including standard twin beds, a dinette booth, or a king-size bed.

Allowing you to customize the twin bed setup to your particular needs.

2. Casita Independence

  • Starting At : $32,694
  • Length : 17 Feet
  • Dry Weight : 2,480 Pounds
  • Bathroom : 3-Piece Wet Bath

The Casita Independence is the second smallest travel trailer with twin beds, measuring a compact 17 feet.

However, this is no ordinary twin-bed travel trailer, as it’s also a fiberglass camper.

Making it one of only two fiberglass trailers currently on the market with twin beds .

If you’re new to RVing though, you might be wondering what a fiberglass camper is.

A fiberglass camper is a type of travel trailer made from molded fiberglass, as opposed to stick frame construction.

Casita Independence Floorplan

Casita Independence Deluxe Model Floor Plan

This construction technique gives the Independence as well as all other Casita models , a sleek rounded look as well as several benefits.

Including improved durability, reduced maintenance, and greater ability to resist water damage.

Making the Casita Independence a great option for those looking for a durable camper that requires minimal upkeep.

Plus, as an added bonus, the lightweight nature of fiberglass means that the Independence is easier to tow than other similar-sized trailers.

What truly sets the Casita Independence apart from other travel trailers though, is its twin-bed configuration.

As the Indepence offers rear twin beds that double as seating during the day .

A spacious interior isn’t the only thing this Micro Minnie has going for it though, as it also offers lots of comfort and convenience features as well.

Winnebago Micro Minnie 2108TB Floorplan

The real show stopper on this feature-packed camper though is its front twin beds, as it’s one of only two twin bed floorplans that Winnebago offers .

(The other one is the Winnebago Minnie 2327TB .)

Speaking specifically about the twin beds on this trailer though, the Micro Minnie 2108TB offers a large center nightstand between the two beds as well as storage underneath.

Plus, like most RV twin bed setups, the beds in the 2108TB can be converted into a single king bed as well.

Like the Casita Independence ( which is #2 on this list ), the Oliver Legacy Elite II Twin Bed is a fiberglass travel trailer.

This means the camper is primarily constructed using molded fiberglass, often in a two-shell configuration with an upper and lower section.

The advantages of this style camper are numerous but the main ones are that it makes the trailer lighter, more durable, and more weather-resistant.

However, there is one major difference between the Oliver and the Casita, and that’s their starting price, as the Legacy Elite II is $40,000 more compared to the Independence.

Why such a huge difference in price?

Oliver Legacy Elite II Twin Bed Floorplan

Oliver Legacy Elite II Twin Bed Floor Plan

To begin with, the Oliver is over 6 feet longer than the Casita, allowing the Legacy Elite II to offer considerably more interior space and amenities.

But the primary reason lies in the fact that the Legacy Elite II is often dubbed the “ yacht of fiberglass travel trailers “.

This premium fiberglass camper is unmatched in terms of build quality and high-end features.

Built to last a lifetime, it offers a one-of-kind double fiberglass hull that significantly enhances the trailer’s R-factor and four-season capability.

Available in two distinct floorplans, including the standard and the twin bed layout.

The twin bed layout remains a popular choice among RV enthusiasts due to its improved walkability and easier access to the beds.

Plus, as an added bonus it also provides three separate sleeping areas inside the camper, a feature that can prove useful depending on who’s going camping.

6. KZ RV Escape E201TB

  • Average Cost : $28,500
  • Length : 23 Feet 9 Inches
  • Dry Weight : 3,700 Pounds

Similar in many respects to the Winnebago Micro Minnie and Gulf Stream Envision, the KZ RV Escape E201TB features a front twin bed layout .

This design offers twin beds at the front of the trailer, separated by a central nightstand, which can also be converted into a single king bed.

The similarities don’t stop there though, as the Escape E201TB also offers a well-equipped campside kitchen and a convertible dinette booth on a slide-out.

However, differences emerge as you move to the back of the camper.

As the Escape features a rear corner bath, unlike the Micro Minnie and Envision, which have rear baths spanning the entire back wall of the camper.

KZ RV Escape E201TB Floorplan

KZ RV Escape E201TB Floor Plan

This layout difference comes with its own set of advantages and disadvantages.

On the upside, the corner bath in the E201TB frees up space, allowing the refrigerator to be positioned on the back wall.

This shift provides the kitchen with additional counter and cabinet space.

The downside, however, is a considerably smaller bathroom in the E201TB.

So, if all other factors are equal and you prioritize kitchen space in a small twin-bed travel trailer, the Escape E201TB is your ideal choice.

On the other hand, if a spacious bathroom is your priority, you might prefer the Micro Minnie 2108TB or the Envision 21TBD.

7. Airstream Flying Cloud 23FB

  • Average Cost : $100,000
  • Dry Weight : 5,000 Pounds

Airstream produces more travel trailers with twin beds than any other RV manufacturer.

However, one of their more compact models is the Airstream Flying Cloud 23FB , which can be customized with either a queen bed or twin beds.

Opting for twin beds though greatly improves the walkability in the bedroom, thanks to the center aisle it creates.

Plus, for taller campers, the twin bed configuration also provides a longer mattress compared to the queen bed configuration.

Airstream Flying Cloud 23FB Floorplan

Regardless of your layout preference though, both versions offer class-leading comfort and luxury .

Thanks to the Flying Cloud 23FB’s seamless blend of timeless design and modern amenities.

This includes Airstream’s iconic rounded all-aluminum body, high-end finishes, custom cabinetry, and premium materials.

This 24-foot travel trailer truly has it all.

Airstream Flying Cloud 23FB Twin Beds

However, all this high-end design and iconic styling doesn’t come cheap though, as the Flying Cloud 23FB has an average price tag of $100K.

Making it the most expensive small twin-bed travel trailer you can buy .

Yet, for those who can afford it, it’s hard to go wrong with this stylish well-equipped 24-foot camper from Airstream.

8. KZ RV Escape E20 Hatch

  • Average Cost : $25,000
  • Length : 23 Feet 10 Inches
  • Dry Weight : 3,560 Pounds
  • Bathroom : 2-Piece Dry Bath

The KZ RV Escape E20 Hatch is not only the largest twin-bed travel trailer on this list at just under 24 feet, but it’s also the most unique.

As the Escape E20 Hatch blends the comfort of a traditional travel trailer with the enhanced practicality of a toy hauler .

This trailer features a pop-up hatch and a rear cargo area, enabling users to load larger items like bikes and kayaks into the back of the camper.

KZ RV Escape E20 Hatch Floorplan

Making it the ideal choice for adventurers who want to bring all their outdoor gear with them while camping and traveling .

However, just because the trailer offers the practicality of a toy hauler , doesn’t mean it skimps on creature comforts.

As the E20 Hatch offers a four-person sleeping capacity, a fully equipped kitchen, and a two-piece dry bath.

KZ RV Escape E20 Hatch Twin Beds

Plus, like all other travel trailers on this list, it offers twin beds that can be converted into one large king bed .

Which gives the trailer a lot of flexibility when it comes to sleeping accommodations.

Director Chou Tung-Yen’s bathhouse cruising experience “Traversing the Mist,” a dreamlike odyssey awash in fear and flesh, took the top honors at Paris’ NewImages Festival on Friday, claiming the festival’s Grand Jury Prize to the tune of $6,424.

Produced by Taipei’s Very Theatre and Very Mainstream Studio, the NewImages-winning project offers a steamy experience in every sense of the term, ushering users through underground corridors rife with sensual possibilities, dimly lit and driven by conflicting desires. The multi-user experience caps a trilogy for director Chou Tung-Yen, who will next bring his winning volley to Cannes’ first ever Immersive Competition.

Inspired by the sacred rites and mythologies of Indigenous cultures, “Bear My Soul” is a multi-user experience that collapses distinctions between flora and fauna, inviting users into a shared communion that bolters spiritual connection with the wider world. Meanwhile, single-user experience “The Imaginary Friend” makes good on its title, allowing users to become make-believe confidantes to a troubled child, himself unable to separate fact from fantasy.

Rounding out the prizes, Aley Baracat’s “Irregular Heartbeats” won the XR Development Market trophy, while director Jonathan Pêpe received a $6419 grant and a ticket to Rome in order to develop his immersive nature doc “Fisheye” at Italy’s Villa Medici. Now in its third year, the program offers artistic residencies to French artists on the cutting edge of new media.

This year’s NewImages Festival runs from April 24-28.
