El Tri Announces 55th Anniversary U.S. Tour

El Tri is coming back to the States! Today (Sep. 5), the iconic Mexican rock band unveiled their upcoming 10-city 55 Aniversario y Todo Por El Rocanrol Tour.

“Are you ready to rock with Mexico’s best rocker? El Tri is coming with their 55 Aniversario y Todo Por El Rocanrol Tour 🎸,” one of the tour’s producers announced online . “Tickets on sale September 8th at 10 AM through Livenation.com ❤️‍🔥.”

Produced by Live Nation and Frias Entertainment, the 55th-anniversary tour will embark at the Neptune Theatre in Seattle, WA, on Oct. 11. It will continue to the Roseland Theater in Portland, OR, on Oct 12; the Ace of Spades in Sacramento, CA, on Oct. 15; and The Pavilion at Toyota Music Factory in Dallas, TX, on Nov. 3.

The freshly unveiled tour will then hit the 713 Music Hall in Houston, TX, on Nov. 4; the House of Blues in Anaheim, CA, on Feb. 9 to 10; and the House of Blues in Las Vegas, NV, on Feb. 15. It will also make a stop at SOMA in San Diego, CA, on Feb. 16, and conclude at The Van Buren in Phoenix, AZ, on Feb. 18.

After more than five decades of performing, El Tri’s emblematic vocalist Alex Lora continues to enjoy their loyal audience. “What motivates me to keep going is to see how the public and la raza forgets about their troubles when they are rocking with me and they feel free and let off steam by shouting,” he said in a recent interview .

Tickets will be available through an artist presale starting on Sep. 6 at 10 a.m. PST. General tickets will go on sale this Friday (Sep. 8) at 10 a.m. local time through LiveNation . There will also be a Citi presale for Citi card members on Sep. 5 at 11 a.m. EST through Sep. 7 at 10 p.m. local time.

El Tri (formed in 1968) is a pioneering Mexican rock and roll, psychedelic and blues rock band, hailing from Mexico City, Mexico.

Originally formed under the moniker “Three Souls in My Mind” due to the appeal of a long band name, the group was initially comprised of Alejandro Lora on bass, Memo Berea on lead guitar and vocals, Ernesto de Leon on lead guitar, and Carlos Hauptvogel on the drums.

The band’s first live performance came in 1969 to a positive response, and the group subsequently made a their mark at Festival de Avándaro, ‘America’s Woodstock' in 1971 with a combination of English- and Spanish-language rock songs. By playing rock songs in Spanish, the band introduced the themes of rock and roll to a huge Spanish speaking audience, providing the groundwork for the influx of rock in to Mexico. The band spent the next 14 years recording and performing under the Three Souls in My Mind name, until in 1985 the name and line-up underwent notable changes.

With a line up consisting Alejandro Lora, Chela Lora and Eduardo Chico, El Tri’s debut album “Simplemente el Tri” (1985), earned the threesome gold certification – the first ever Mexican rock band to do so. The album spawned the singles “Triste Canción de Amor” and “Vicioso del Rocanrol” and led to a tour of considerable size including dates in the the U.S. The band cemented their success in Mexico and in large parts of South America as a whole with their 18 subsequent studio albums, 10 live albums, and four compilation albums.

Due to this international success El Tri have played a host of sold-out arenas shows such as the Los Angeles Memorial Sports Arena, The Olympic Auditorium, and the Hollywood Palladium. Despite this success and influence on Mexican rock, the band has never been certified more than gold record due to labels struggling to be able to compete with counterfeiters.

Rising from the ashes from Alex Lora’s old band Three Souls in my Mind, Mexican psychedelic rock band El Tri rejuvenated their music after meandering through several genres before they solidified their definitive bluesy rock sound in 1985. Taking their name from the three colours of the flag, El Tri became the first Mexican rock band to achieve a gold certified album after releasing their album ‘Simplemente’ which featured their first single ‘Triste Cancion. Their 1986 hit ‘Vicioso del rocanrol’ loosely translated as ‘vicious rock and roll’ became a huge success in Peru as it stormed its way onto the radio charts securing their popularity in Chile, Venezula, Argentina and of course Spain. During their career they successful forayed in to North America introducing their sound not only to the Americans but to its Latin community. In 2003 they were nominated for Best Album at the Latin Grammy Awards. Labelled as Mexico’s answer to The Rolling Stones, El Tri have created a huge milestone for Latin Rock.

Used to playing two and a half hour shows, their Spanish inspired blues rock sound has won over a legion of fans. The fans mean everything to the band, as they look to them for inspiration for themes explored in their songs. Playing to thousands of passionate fans in arenas all over the Americas really brings out the best in the band as they are greeted with screams as the audience sing along word for word. With their simple and genuine melodies and Lora’s heartrending tone, you’re bound to fall in love with El Tri as they sweep you off your feet.

You are unlikely to see many fanbases so dedicated and commanded by their musical heroes as during an El Tri show. The Mexican psych-rock/blues outfit are slowly approaching their fiftieth anniversary since formation and it would seem that every decade they have managed to expand their fanbase regardless of their moderate commercial success. Incredibly the six original members remain present tonight and therefore they have one of the best onstage dynamics you are likely to see. They do not only know their own instrumentals like complete experts but also the instrumentals of every other member onstage.

All the music simply melds together in expert mannerism whilst Alex Lora concentrates on making the crowd the final piece to the puzzle as they sway, jump and fist pump on demand depending on the tracks played. It is a fantastic show held together by this band of experts who have successfully influenced the genre of latino rock and psych-blues as a whole. It is not known how much longer these members will be able to tour so make sure you see them whilst you still can.

Mexico confirm four friendly games in the US for September and October

‘el tri’ will play in arlington, atlanta, philadelphia and a to be confirmed city as part of the 2023 ‘mex tour’ anniversary..

After Sunday’s Gold Cup title win, the Mexican FA have confirmed the next games for ‘El Tri’ with four matches scheduled during the September and October FIFA windows.

All four games will be played in the United States with Germany the highest profile of the four opponents as ‘Die Mannscahft’ travel to Philadelphia on 17 October as part of El Tri’s twentieth anniversary of the MexTour.

The four Mexico games form part of the twentieth anniversary of the MexTour in the USA with Mexico also set to face Australia, Uzbekistan and Ghana.

The first game of this series will take place at AT&T Stadium (Arlington, Texas) on 9 September when Mexico face Australia. Three days later, on 12 September, for the first time in history, the Mexican national team will go head-to-head with Uzbekistan in Atlanta, one of the 2026 World Cup venues.

A month later in October, El Tri return to the United States to play against Ghana on 14 October 14 , with no venue for the game locked in and the final test of the quartet comes on 17 October when they meet Germany at Lincoln Financial Field in Philadelphia.

As things stand, it’s still unclear who will be the manager on the bench for this series of matches with Jaime Lozano’s internship officially ending after the Gold Cup final . Upon his arrival in Mexico City, Ivar Sisniega, President of the FMF, revealed that in a maximum of three weeks they hope to announce the new national team coach with Lozano the main candidate although other more options will be evaluated.

El Tri to tour US fuelled by Anheuser-Busch’s continued support

March 23 – Drinks giant Anheuser-Busch has extended its agreement with the Mexican Football Federation (FMF) as the beer partner of EL Tri’s US tour.

The partnership also extends to the women’s national team.

It’s the 20th time that the Mexicans will tour the United States and it will be a maiden experience for the women’s team. The sponsorship deal will include stadium activations as well as fan engagement activities.

“Since the beginning of our relationship, the Mexican Football Federation has been a world-class partner and we’re excited to be strengthening our commitment and help stage the women’s national team’s US tour,” said Matt Davis, head of sports marketing at Anheuser-Busch.

“We are committed to ensuring fans have unrivaled opportunities to support their teams as we prepare for the international friendlies and tournaments.”

The terms of the deal, brokered by Soccer United Marketing, were not disclosed but the American market has always been lucrative for teams from central America. Anheuser-Busch and the FMF estimate that the market has more than 20 million Mexico fans in the US of legal drinking age, with a fanbase growing by 6.5% year-over-year.

“We are thrilled to be continuing our relationship with Anheuser-Busch who keeps demonstrating their unique ability to bring fanbases closer to the sport they love,” said Enrique Nieto, director of strategic partnerships for FMF.

“Mexican soccer fans are some of the most passionate and devoted in the entire world, and we look forward to seeing how Anheuser-Busch helps us enhance the fan experience throughout the entire US tour.”

When is the next total solar eclipse in the US after 2024 and what is its path? What to know

The highly anticipated 2024 total solar eclipse will cross North America on Monday , giving millions of sky-gazers the chance to see a rare cosmic event that won't be viewable again for 20 years.

The eclipse's  path of totality  will travel over a portion of northern Mexico before entering the U.S. It then it will cross 13 states  from Texas to Maine, where the spectacle is expected to attract huge crowds.

If you aren't lucky enough to be in the path of totality this time around, you will have another chance - you'll just have to wait until the 2040s.

When is the next total solar eclipse visible from the U.S.?

It will be 20 years before there's a chance to  witness a total solar eclipse  in the United States again.

According to NASA, after Monday's total solar  eclipse , the next one viewable from the contiguous U.S. will be on Aug. 23, 2044.

2044 total solar eclipse path of totality

Unfortunately, the 2044 total  solar eclipse  won't have the broad reach across the U.S. as the 2024 eclipse.

The path of totality during the 2044 eclipse will only touch three states, according to the Planetary Society, a nonprofit involved in research, public outreach, and political space advocacy.

The eclipse will begin in Greenland, sweep through Canada and end around sunset in Montana, North Dakota and South Dakota.

2045 solar eclipse

While the 2044 total eclipse will only touch three states, a 2045 eclipse will have a more robust path across the U.S.

Expected to occur on Saturday, Aug. 12, 2045, this solar eclipse will trace a path of totality over California, Nevada, Utah, Colorado, New Mexico, Oklahoma, Kansas, Texas, Arkansas, Missouri, Mississippi, Louisiana, Alabama, Florida, and Georgia.

A partial solar eclipse will also be viewable in 35 other states, according to National Eclipse.com

What is a total solar eclipse?

Any celestial object like a moon or a planet that passes between two other bodies can create  an eclipse  by obscuring the view of objects like the sun.

In the event of a solar eclipse, the moon comes in between the Earth and the sun, blocking its light from reaching a small part of our planet. Partial eclipses, when some part of the sun remains visible, are the most common, making total eclipses a rare sight to behold.

Total eclipses can lead to a period of darkness lasting for several minutes, during which time nocturnal animals stir while confused birds and insects may fall silent, NASA says.

When a solar eclipse reaches totality, people are able to see the sun’s outer atmosphere called the corona, which is usually obscured by the sun's bright surface. This offers scientists an uncommon opportunity  to study the corona .

Totality also offers spectators a chance to gaze upon the spectacular sight with the naked eye, though  proper  safety  glasses  are still required for the rest of the time.

What states are on the 2024 eclipse path of totality?

Mexico's Pacific coast will be the first location in continental North America to experience totality, which is expected to occur at about 11:07 a.m. PDT,  according to NASA .

As the moon's shadow will northeast, totality in the U.S. will begin in Texas at 1:27 p.m. CDT. The path will then cut diagonally across the country, traveling through Oklahoma, Arkansas, Missouri, Illinois, Kentucky, Indiana, Ohio, Pennsylvania, New York, Vermont and New Hampshire.

The eclipse's path is expected to end in Maine at 3:35 p.m. EDT before visiting the maritime provinces of Canada, according to estimates.

Missy Elliott announces first headlining tour featuring Busta Rhymes, Ciara and Timbaland

Missy Elliott just dropped an "out of this world" announcement.

The rapper, 52, on Monday revealed she will embark on her first headline tour, Out of This World — The Missy Elliott Experience, which heads across North America this summer and will feature Busta Rhymes , Ciara and Timbaland .

"Fans have been asking me to tour forever but I wanted to wait until I felt the time was right because I knew if I was ever going to do it, I had to do it big, and I had to do it with family!" Elliott said.

News of the tour was also shared in a sci-fi themed video , which was posted hours before Monday's total solar eclipse . In the clip, Elliott, Busta Rhymes and Ciara are seen outside of a spaceship realizing they have made a wrong turn and ended up on another planet. A press release announcing the tour also declared that Monday's "solar phenomenon was eclipsed" by Elliott's own "supernova announcement."

For Elliott, the tour comes after she made history last year as the first female rapper to be inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame . She told "Good Morning America" in November that "words cannot describe" how much of an honor this was. "When you're in the hip-hop world, it seems so far out of reach," she said.

Between that induction and this tour, the "Work It" singer said Monday, "This is an incredible time in my life as I am experiencing so many milestone 'firsts.'"

What Time Will the Total Solar Eclipse Be Viewable in Your Area? All About the Path of Totality

The rare total solar eclipse starts in the United States around noon CDT

Prepare for the skies to go dark as the total solar eclipse heads your way on April 8.

The upcoming total solar eclipse, the first of its kind since 2017 , occurs when the Moon passes between the Sun and Earth, making the face of the Sun obscured from view. As a result, many people around the United States will experience a darkened sky . 

Because a solar eclipse is incredibly rare, with the next one not taking place until 20 years from now, many skygazers are making a full event of the spectacle. 

While some people may feel the astrological affects of the event , others in the path of totality will have a front-row view as the eclipse makes its way from Mexico through the United States and into Canada in the afternoon.

What time does the solar eclipse start?

The eclipse begins in Mexico on Monday, April 8 at about 11:07 a.m. PDT. From there, it will make its way to the United States, crossing into Texas at about 1:27 p.m. CDT.

What cities are in the path of totality for the solar eclipse?

The path of totality, or the area in which people will experience the Moon completely blocking the Sun, will range between 108 and 122 miles wide in North America, per NASA . That is significantly larger than the 2017 eclipse, which ranged from about 62 to 71 miles wide. NASA also reports that an estimated 31.6 million people live in the path of totality this year, compared to 12 million in 2017.

Additionally, those in the line of the path of totality will also experience a partial eclipse before and after the totality. According to NASA, “99% of people who reside in the United States will be able to see the partial or total eclipse from where they live.” They add that every contiguous U.S. state, plus parts of Alaska and Hawaii, will at least experience a partial solar eclipse.

When does the solar eclipse end?

After making its way through Maine, the solar eclipse will come to a close in Canada. The total solar eclipse will start in Brantford, Ont. at 3:17 p.m. and conclude its path of totality in Perth-Andover, N.B. at 4:35 p.m., per CBC News .

What time will the solar eclipse be viewable in your area? 

As previously stated, even if you don’t live near the path of totality, you will likely still experience a partial eclipse in your area. 

NASA has made it easy to figure out the best viewing times for your city. Simply visit NASA’s website and log in your zip code to their handy calculator. From there, you can track the various phases of the solar eclipse in your area, including watch times.
