That was the Audi Summer Tour 2023

This year's Audi Summer Tour was brought to a more than successful conclusion with a showcase match against Liverpool. Under the motto "a way to inspire", FC Bayern spent the past nine days in touch with the fans in the two tour destinations of Tokyo and Singapore, experiencing sporting highlights and exciting events with the local residents and making new friendships. fcbayern.com has put together a summary of the highlights of the Asia tour.

Football festival at the Singapore Trophy

At the National Stadium in Singapore, which was almost sold out with 49,983 spectators, the fans witnessed the clash between two international top teams on Wednesday evening. In a thrilling match with a whole host of spectacular goalmouth action, FC Bayern ultimately came out on top with a 4-3 (2-2) victory. Well ahead of kick-off, supporters of both teams celebrated with a large football party all around the arena, where the German record champions were once again represented with numerous stands and activities. There was also a fan march to the match venue.

FC Bayern say "Danke!"

FC Bayern's Audi Summer Tour would have been nothing without the multitude of supporters and fans who gave the German record champions such a warm welcome on their two stops of the Asian tour. After the men from Munich had already thanked the local people in Tokyo with a banner for their support, among other things, Joshua Kimmich and Co. also sent some words of thanks to all FCB followers in Singapore after the final whistle of the match against Liverpool.

Overall positive verdict on the tour

At a get-together with German media representatives on Wednesday, executive vice-chairman Dr Michael Diederich , marketing director Andreas Jung and senior vice-president Prof Dr Dieter Mayer drew an overall positive conclusion of the eighth Audi Summer Tour of the German record champions. It "was a resounding success for us, with all the encounters we were able to have," said Diederich. The trip to Tokyo and Singapore showed how important it was "that German football could once again set out to open up international markets. The Southeast Asian region has terrific dynamism and is a pace-setter. It's important that we keep pace internationally."

Governor's reception and visit to the german embassy in tokyo.

A great honour for FC Bayern! During their stay in Japan, the German record champions received an invitation from the Governor of Tokyo Prefecture. President Herbert Hainer and vice-president Prof Dr Dieter Mayer presented Yuriko Koike with a jersey during their visit, and the host wished the club a successful stay in Japan. The German record champions were also given a reception at the German Embassy in Tokyo. Herbert Hainer was thrilled by his visit to the German ambassador, Dr Clemens von Goetze, and had nothing but praise for the hospitality of Tokyo and Japan.

As in Tokyo, FC Bayern representatives had the honour of visiting the German Embassy in Singapore. The ambassador, Dr Norbert Riedel, had extended an invitation to executive vice-chairman Dr Michael Diederich, marketing director Andreas Jung, senior vice-president Prof Dr Dieter Mayer as well as FC Bayern Legend Giovane Élber .

Josip Stanišić has been a member of the FC Bayern family for seven years now. At the age of 16, the Munich-born player joined the German record champions' youth academy and progressed through the U17s, U19s and the reserves (U23s) to the senior squad. We caught up with the Croatia international and 2022 World Cup third-place finisher in Japan's capital and chatted about a particularly emotional moment in the car and his goals for the new season.

Josip Stanišić: My mindset is: I'm ready!

Successful meeting with fan clubs from all over asia.

Just how great the enthusiasm for FC Bayern is in Asia was evident, among other things, at the fan club meeting in Tokyo. Around 100 representatives of fan clubs from all over Asia met at the "Schmatz Ginza" and celebrated the get-together together with the Bavarian delegation led by Dr Michael Diederich, Prof Dr Dieter Mayer and the two FCB Legends Giovane Élber and Claudio Pizarro. Executive vice-chairman Diederich was extremely enthusiastic about the many Asian fans and promised: "We want to bring what FC Bayern is all about to you from Munich and Bavaria."

Great atmosphere at the audi night in tokyo.

In addition to exhausting training sessions and intense friendlies, FC Bayern also had the chance to relax during the Audi Summer Tour. The opportunity to do so was provided, for example, by the German record champions' traditional Audi Night at Tokyo Bay's Bank30.

Exciting anime challenge with sané and stanišić.

It wasn't just on the pitch that Bayern worked up a sweat time and again during the numerous and intensive training sessions. Head coach Thomas Tuchel 's side were also challenged off the pitch. One example was the FC Bayern Anime Challenge, in which Leroy Sané and Josip Stanišić went head-to-head. If you want to know how the two of them got on in the cosmos of One Piece, Pokémon or Dragon Ball, just check out this video:

With new signing Konrad Laimer on a culinary tour of discovery

Konrad Laimer joined FC Bayern at the beginning of July and has already settled in nicely in that short time. On the Audi Summer Tour, we met up with the Austria international in a traditional Japanese ramen restaurant and talked about pre-season at FC Bayern and his strengths, among other things.

Globally united: unveiling of the new away jersey.

A very special highlight awaited team and fans alike with the unveiling of the new away jersey for the upcoming season. The black kit from partner adidas features a world map-inspired graphic with pink and green diamonds representing the German record champions’ fan clubs around the globe. The new kit was worn for the first time at the Audi Football Summit against Kawasaki Frontale, which Bayern deservedly won 1-0.

Despite all the impressions and events on the Asia tour, the German record champions' optimal pre-season preparations could not be neglected. In addition to many gruelling training sessions, the Munich team played two high-profile friendlies in Tokyo. The Audi Football Summit kicked off against Manchester City ( watch the video highlights ) in Tokyo's National Stadium, which immediately set a record: never before had so many fans watched a football match in the 2020 Olympic Games venue (65,049). Three days later, the team played Kawasaki Frontale at the same venue ( watch the video highlights ). Newcomer Minjae Kim enjoyed an impressive debut for Bayern against the local side.

Tottenham Hotspur is delighted to announce that its Men’s First Team will visit Singapore during this summer’s Asia-Pacific Tour 2023.

Following on from the previously announced London Derby with West Ham United at the Optus Stadium in Perth on Tuesday 18 July , we travel to Singapore for a clash with Italian giants AS Roma at the Singapore National Stadium on Wednesday 26 July (kick-off 19:30 local time).

OneFootball Videos

Supported by Global Principal Partner, AIA, this will be the Club’s third visit to Singapore and our second in the past four years - the most recent of which in 2019 was made memorable by Harry Kane’s outrageous last-minute winner from the halfway line in a 3-2 victory over Juventus at the National Stadium.

This year’s visit will give the Club another opportunity to engage with its well-established and passionate fanbase in Singapore - our Official Singapore Spurs Supporters’ Club has been in existence for over 22 years.

Tickets for the AS Roma match will be made available to Season Ticket Holders, Premium Members, One Hotspur Members and Official Supporters’ Club members in an exclusive pre-sale from tomorrow (Thursday 4 May), 10am (Singapore time). Further details on how to purchase tickets will be communicated directly via email.

Tickets will then be available in a general sale via Ticketek Singapore from Monday 8 May, 10am (Singapore time).

To find your nearest Official Supporters’ Club, visit: https://www.tottenhamhotspur.com/fans/supporters-clubs/welcome/

A limited number of tickets remain available in the general sale for our previously announced match against West Ham at the Optus Stadium, Perth, Tuesday 18 July (kick-off 18:00 local time).

One further Tour 2023 match in an additional Asian city will be announced in the coming weeks – sign up for email updates here: https://www.tottenhamhotspur.com/asia-pacific-tour-2023/

As is Club tradition, players and staff will be engaging in a range of activities to engage with our fanbase, support good causes, deliver grassroots football programmes and celebrate local culture across all cities we visit.

This includes Open Training events held at the host stadiums the day before each game. We can confirm that the open training session in Singapore will take place on Tuesday 25 July, Singapore National Stadium, 18:00 local time. Tickets will be available via this link from Monday 8 May, 10am (Singapore time): https://premier.ticketek.com.sg/shows/show.aspx?sh=THVSAROT

LIVERPOOL TO JOIN SPURS, BAYERN, AND ROMA IN SINGAPORE PRE-SEASON TOUR

SINGAPORE, 2023, APRIL 04 – As reported by The Straits Times , Liverpool FC is set to return to Singapore for their pre-season tour in July. The team is expected to participate in a friendly tournament at the National Stadium , where they will be joined by other top European teams like Tottenham Hotspur FC , Bayern Munich , and AS Roma .

This pre-season tour marks Liverpool’s return to Singapore after their successful visit in 2022, where they beat Crystal Palace FC 2-0 in front of a 50,000 crowd to lift the Standard Chartered Singapore Trophy . Liverpool has a large fanbase in Singapore, and their previous visit was a great success, generating excitement and enthusiasm among football fans in the country.

The friendly tournament will not be part of the International Champions Cup , which was last held in Singapore in 2019. The cancellation of the 2020 edition due to the COVID-19 pandemic had disappointed football fans, as Liverpool, fellow English giants Manchester United FC , and Germany’s Borussia Dortmund were lined up to play in the tournament.

Liverpool’s participation in the friendly tournament in Singapore also means that they will avoid a tour of the United States , which is the conventional pre-season plan for top European clubs, alternating between Asia and the US every summer. Liverpool’s manager, Jürgen Klopp , has previously suggested that the timing of the team’s Asia tour last season may have led to fitness problems for key players, and as such, Liverpool is expected to work on their fitness closer to home before flying to Asia in the third week of pre-season.

Football fans in Singapore are eagerly looking forward to seeing the likes of Mohamed Salah , Virgil van Dijk , and new addition Cody Gakpo light up the National Stadium.

The tournament may also throw up tantalising clashes, including a potential match between Roma and Tottenham, where Roma’s manager, Jose Mourinho , will face his former club.

Tickets for Liverpool's pre-season games against Leicester City and Bayern Munich in Singapore are now on general sale.

The Reds are set to return to Singapore this summer as part of their preparations for the 2023-24 campaign.

That match will be followed by a meeting with Bayern at the same venue on Wednesday August 2, with the winner set to lift the Singapore Trophy, presented by Audi and Standard Chartered Bank.

Tickets for both fixtures are now on general sale here .

Singapore v Liverpool FC

After five years, Liverpool are heading back to Asia for a pre-season tour, with two dates now confirmed for the club’s 2022-23 pre-season including a match against Manchester United in Bangkok on Tuesday, July 12th, and a match against Crystal Palace in Singapore on the 15th.

At least another date or two in the region is likely to be announced, and if the club’s pre-season plans follow the pattern of other years there will likely be a few dates in Europe both before and after their tour.

There also seems the possibility that there could be more than one game played in Singapore given the game against Palace is being billed as part of a Standard Chartered Singapore Trophy 2022. Alternately it could simply be a one-off match with a sponsor attached to it.

“Pre-season is a vital time of year for our players,” read a statement from commercial director Ben Latty. “It’s hugely important preparation for the season ahead and it’s also a perfect opportunity to meet with our fans around the world.

“We can’t wait to get back to Singapore once again, we’ve received a tremendous welcome there in the past, and are excited to be taking part in the Standard Chartered Singapore Trophy 2022.”

A return to Singapore for the Reds will indeed be exciting news for the many fans of the club there. Whether there’s any particular excitement in it also being a chance for the Reds to lift the Standard Chartered Singapore Trophy 2022 we’ll leave up to readers.

I must commend the detailed planning put in to ensure that our stay was a pleasant one. The food, transport and accommodation were excellent. On the pitch the teams invited were of very good standard which made the trip worthwhile for the coaches and players. The facilities and service onsite were second to none.

Gregory Tan - Singapore Sports School General Manager

Thailand is a great place for a football tour with the combination of high level teams to play against, great facilities and amazing hotels. I’ve known the staff at Football Asia for many years, they are really well connected in professional football in Thailand.

Mario Lemos - Head Coach Abahani Dhaka FC, Bangladesh

Company overview.

Football Asia is a well respected company operating out of Thailand with connections throughout Asia. We offer a number of services for players, coaches, professional teams and youth teams wanting to travel to Asia or within Asia. Football Asia provide a number of tours and tournaments in Thailand for teams wanting to experience football overseas. Travelling to a different country for football has so many benefits. The opportunity to train in a new country and play matches and tournaments against teams from abroad is both exciting and beneficial. Teams travel to Thailand for a variety of reasons. Professional football teams from Asia will come for preseason tours in Thailand. Thailand has great football stadiums and training pitches with fantastic hotels, which are very important aspects when choosing a football training camp in Asia. Thailand is also host to over 100 professional football teams. Football teams wanting football tours abroad will have a wide range of teams to play against if they come to Thailand. Football training camps abroad also help with team bonding and Thailand has a wealth of non-football activities to do such as its amazing beaches, shopping and cultural/tourist attractions. We can provide fully inclusive tours and cater for your every need.

Youth football has taken off in Asia with football quickly becoming the most popular sport in the region. Youth football academies in Thailand are a plenty both at professional level as well as grass roots. Thailand has its own Thai Youth League for professional teams in Thailand, running at U10 to U18 age groups. Teams that want youth football tournaments abroad should look no further than Thailand as a destination. Facilities in Thailand are great and with some of the best football academies in Asia it’s easy to find the right level of competition for teams coming to Thailand to play football. If you would like to experience playing against an elite football academy in Thailand we run two annual tournaments with the best professional football clubs in Thailand participating. We have tournaments for elite football academies and 7 aside grass roots teams. At all our events we pride ourselves on making sure your every need is met so you can fully enjoy your football experience.

Thailand is a big market for players who are looking for the opportunity to play football abroad. Players searching for professional football trials abroad often find it difficult to make the right connections to play football abroad professionally. There are some football agents in Thailand but that side of the industry is not well controlled and very much unprofessional in the way it operates. We offer a safe, reliable and trustworthy option for groups of players looking to get paid to play football abroad. Our contacts include a variety of football professionals based in Asia including reliable football agents looking for players to place in professional football teams in Thailand and Southeast Asia. We only operate with financially stable professional teams looking for players abroad and we have good working relationships with professional football clubs in Asia.

Olivia Rodrigo Adds Asia and Australia Legs to Guts World Tour

Olivia Rodrigo at the 2022 Rock & Roll Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony Red Carpet held at the Microsoft Theatre on November 5, 2022 in Los Angeles, California.

Olivia Rodrigo will tour Asia and Australia for the first time in her career, the singer announced Wednesday. Rodrigo has added nine international dates to her massive “ Guts ” world tour for a total of 82 shows globally.

The new dates kick off Sept. 16 in Bangkok, Thailand and continue through Seoul, Hong Kong, Tokyo, Singapore, Melbourne, and Sydney, wrapping up on Oct. 19 at Qudos Bank Arena. Additional dates may be added as Rodrigo wrote on social media, “Stay tuned, Manila!” Fans in the comment sections of her social posts are eager to hear when and if Rodrigo will also be adding Latin American dates to the trek but that has yet to be confirmed.

Popular on Variety

The “Guts” tour has since made stops in New York, Houston and Dublin, and will make its way towards London in the coming weeks. It will conclude on Oct. 18 in Sydney.

Tickets for the newly added Asia and Australia dates will be available starting with the American Express presale in select markets.

Rodrigo performed “Vampire” and “Get Him Back!” at MTV’s Video Music Awards on Tuesday night, following Lil Wayne as the second performer of the evening. It was her second-ever appearance at the show as Rodrigo made her VMAs debut in 2021 when she performed her Billboard Hot 100 No. 1 hit “Good 4 U.”

“Guts” was released to high acclaim on Sept. 8 via Geffen Records and was preceded by two top 10 singles, “Vampire” and “Bad Idea Right?” “Vampire” debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100, marking Rodrigo the youngest artist to debut three No. 1 hits on the chart behind “Drivers License” and “Good 4 U.”

In an interview with Capital FM in England , Rodrigo said she wrote much of the songs on “Guts” with the concept of an accompanying tour “in mind.”

“I think there’s a lot of fun songs,” she said. “I wrote the album with a tour in mind, so I think they’re all songs I wanted people to be able to scream in a crowd. Hopefully, that’s what’s achieved.” A similar teaser — in the form of a faux ticket advertising “Olivia Rodrigo: Guts The World Tour” — appeared in a lyric video for “Making the Bed,” the sixth track off “Guts.”

Rodrigo last toured North America and Europe in support of her debut album “Sour” in 2022. It started on April 5 in Portland and ended on July 7 in London. Gracie Abrams, Holly Humberstone, Chappell Roan and Baby Queen served as opening acts.

WATCH: Ohio State Buckeyes Ex C.J. Stroud Didn't Impress Japanese Baseball Fans

Former Ohio State Buckeyes and current Houston Texans quarterback C.J. Stroud is currently in Japan as part of Gridiron Imports' 2024 Asia Tour.

On Saturday, Stroud and Dallas Cowboys linebacker Micah Parsons appeared at a Tokyo Giants game to throw out the first pitch.

Jan 20, 2024; Baltimore, MD, USA; Houston Texans quarterback C.J. Stroud (7) runs the ball against

Former MLB pitcher Dallas Braden posted the video on X, with the quote, "This is why baseball is different than ANY other sport. Both Micah Parsons & CJ Stroud are FREAK athletes. Watching them throw a baseball would never tell you that."

Stroud threw first and just missed to the left side of home plate. Parsons went next and bounced the pitch about a foot in front of home plate with an even less impressive throw.

The former Buckeyes quarterback is impressive on the football field when throwing a football, but he seemed uncomfortable with a baseball in his hand.

Parsons is a two-time Pro Bowler and one of the more athletic linebackers and pass rushers in the game, but that elite athleticism didn't translate to the pitcher's mound. Stroud's throwing motion looked anything but natural.

Over three seasons in Columbus , Stroud completed 575 passes for 8,123 yards and 85 touchdowns to just 12 interceptions.

Last season, as a rookie with the Texans, the 22-year-old won the NFL Offensive Rookie of the Year and was named to the Pro Bowl while completing 319 passes for 4,108 yards and 23 touchdowns to just five interceptions.

Stroud led Houston to an unlikely playoff appearance and the team's first postseason win since 2019.

Follow our news, recent searches, no spare parts: scoot cancels some flights in may as supply chain woes bite, advertisement.

Scoot has not been spared by the issues impacting the global aviation industry.

SINGAPORE: Budget airline Scoot has cancelled several flights in May due to a "variety of operational reasons".

In response to CNA's queries, the low-cost unit of Singapore Airlines said on Thursday (May 9) it had scrapped some flights, with one of the reasons being an industry-wide shortage of aircraft parts.

“Several flights scheduled in May 2024 are cancelled due to a variety of operational reasons, including aircraft unavailability, because of a shortage of spare parts due to supply chain issues,” said Scoot.

The carrier did not provide CNA with the number of affected flights but apologised for the travel disruption.

"Scoot sincerely apologises to all affected customers for the inconvenience caused by this disruption,” it said.

“We proactively contacted all affected customers and most have been reaccommodated on alternative flights, including on Singapore Airlines and Scoot.”

For the passengers who were not reaccommodated, Scoot said it had offered them a full refund of the unused portion of their tickets.

SUPPLY CHAIN, MANPOWER WOES AMID SOARING DEMAND

Global demand for air travel has nearly recovered to pre-COVID pandemic levels  - Changi Airport saw more passenger movements in February than the same period in 2019.

Air travel worldwide is expected to finally exceed pre-COVID levels this year, with a  full recovery anticipated for the Asia Pacific , according to observers.

However, the aviation industry is struggling with severe shortages of parts, labour and new aircraft.

The  rebound of air travel  has prompted airlines to order more planes, and aircraft manufacturing giants such as Airbus and Boeing are struggling to meet the demand.

Scoot’s CEO Leslie Thng on Singaporeans’ fave destinations, budget airline misconceptions and more

Speaking at the Singapore Airshow in February, Airbus Asia-Pacific’s president Anand Stanley told CNA about the backlog orders and that Asia-Pacific region is the fastest growing market, and also the largest market, in aviation.

“We are talking about 19,000 to 20,000 aircraft over the next 20 years, so it is (an) unstoppable demand to be honest,” he said.

The demand for aircraft has been going up post-pandemic, said Mr Stanley.

“We are looking at 19,000 new aircraft that are required, which shows that air travel is back,” he said.

“Last year, we had a record year in terms of our backlog and orders. We have 8,300 aircraft in the backlog right now.”

Mr Stanley also acknowledged that while Airbus was "in a ramp-up to meet demand", supply chain had yet to catch up, so this was an area the company would have to work closely with suppliers to "resolve and more importanly, meet the needs of airline customers and consumers".

The loss of skilled manpower during the COVID-19 pandemic and reduced supply sources by the war in Ukraine have exacerbated the crunch.

"The aerospace-grade titanium shortage started with the Ukraine war," said Mr Roberto Tonna, chief executive of aerospace supply chain firm ALA, at the Singapore Airshow.

The lack of materials such as inconel - an alloy used by aircraft sector companies to make engines and exhaust systems - and steel, as well as skilled labour are all ongoing issues, he added.

In addition to the Ukraine conflict, the Israel-Hamas war and increasing geopolitical tensions worldwide has also contributed to the industry-wide shortage of parts.

Bibus Metals, which supplies high-performance metals, said such materials, which are critical in the manufacturing of planes, are increasingly harder and more expensive to source due to increased demand from countries looking to beef up their defence capabilities.

Pascal Fabre, a specialist at consultancy firm AlixPartners, added the aircraft maintenance, repair and overhaul sector is “under-capacity". Boeing and Airbus are also fully booked until almost the end of the decade, and are accumulating delays.

MANUFACTURING SNAG

The airline industry’s issues have also been compounded by an engine manufacturing flaw by US aerospace giant RTX , which led to the grounding of hundreds of Airbus A320neo jets last year.

The snag could ground an average of 350 jets a year through 2026, with as many as 650 jets sitting idle in the first half of 2024.

The problem is likely to worsen a tug-of-war over engines between aeroplane factories and repair shops as repairs take longer to fix.

In September last year, Scoot said the inspections would affect four of the engines that power its A320neo fleet, adding the affected engines had been removed from commercial service.

Scoot also said last November that it was looking to extend the lease of some of its A320ceo aircraft due to problems with their Pratt & Whitney engines.

"We have some flex in terms of the A320ceos that we are returning next year in 2024, so we are exploring whether we should maybe extend some of the leases to mitigate the impact," CEO Leslie Thng added.
