7. Factory reset the infotainment system

Performing a factory reset on your Journey infotainment system can be a viable solution to resolve persistent and complex Bluetooth issues that are not resolved through other troubleshooting methods. A factory reset will restore the system to its original settings, potentially clearing any software-related problems that were affecting the Bluetooth functionality. However, it’s important to remember that a factory reset will erase all personalized settings and data, so it should be considered as a last resort after trying other troubleshooting steps.

8. Try any other phone

If you’re experiencing Bluetooth connectivity issues in your Dodge Journey, trying a different phone can be a valuable troubleshooting step to isolate the problem. By connecting a different phone, whether it’s an iPhone or an Android device, you can determine whether the issue lies with your original smartphone or if it’s related to the car’s infotainment system.

Once the pairing process is complete, test the Bluetooth connection with the other phone. Make a hands-free call, play music, and use other Bluetooth functionalities to see if everything works as expected. If the connection works flawlessly with the other phone, it suggests that the issue might be with your original smartphone.

9. Hard reset your Journey

Disconnecting the main 12 volt battery of your Journey for about 15 minutes is another potential solution to resolve certain issues, including Bluetooth connectivity problems in the car’s infotainment system. This process is known as a “hard reset” and can help to clear any temporary glitches or errors that might be affecting various electronic systems in the vehicle, including the infotainment system.

Identify the Negative Terminal

The negative terminal on the battery is marked with a minus (“-“) sign and is usually colored black. Take note of its location.

Disconnect the Negative Terminal

Use a wrench or pliers to loosen and remove the bolt or clamp that secures the negative terminal to the battery post. Once loosened, carefully lift the negative terminal away from the battery post.

2012 journey bluetooth not working

Wait for 15 Minutes

After disconnecting the negative terminal, leave the car’s battery disconnected for approximately 15 minutes. This will allow any residual electrical charge to dissipate and ensure a complete reset of the car’s electronic systems.

Reconnect the Negative Terminal

After the 15 minutes have elapsed, reattach the negative terminal to the battery post and tighten the bolt or clamp securely.

Start your Journey

With the battery reconnected, start the engine of your Journey and let it run for a few minutes. During this time, various electronic systems, including the infotainment system, will initialize and reestablish connections.

Test Bluetooth Connectivity

Once the car is running, test the Bluetooth connectivity by pairing your smartphone with the infotainment system of your Journey and using various Bluetooth features to ensure everything works correctly.

Remember that a hard reset by disconnecting the battery should be used as a last resort after trying other troubleshooting steps. While it can help in resolving certain issues, it may also result in the loss of some personalized settings in your Dodge Journey. If the Bluetooth problem persists or if you are unsure about performing a hard reset yourself, it’s best to seek assistance from a qualified mechanic or an authorized dealer to avoid any potential damage to the vehicle’s electrical system.

10. Hardware issue

If you have exhausted all software-related troubleshooting steps and Bluetooth connectivity issues persist with Journey, it is possible that the problem may be related to a hardware issue. Hardware problems can be more challenging to resolve and may require professional inspection and repair. Here are some indications that the issue might be hardware-related:

Persistent Issues

If you have experienced Bluetooth problems consistently, even after trying various software fixes and different smartphones, it could be a sign of a hardware problem.

Inconsistent Connectivity

If the Bluetooth connection frequently drops or becomes unstable, it may be due to hardware-related issues within the Journey infotainment system.

No Devices Detected

If the infotainment system in Journey is unable to detect any Bluetooth devices, including smartphones and other accessories, it might be an indication of hardware failure.

Audio Quality Issues

If you experience distorted or poor audio quality during Bluetooth calls or music playback, it could be due to hardware problems with the Bluetooth module or related components.

If you suspect a hardware issue, it’s best to contact your car’s manufacturer or authorized service center for further assistance. They have the expertise and tools to diagnose and repair hardware problems accurately. Depending on the vehicle’s warranty status and the nature of the issue, the manufacturer may cover the repair costs.

Before seeking professional help, you can also check for any software or firmware updates specific to your car’s infotainment system. Occasionally, manufacturers release updates to address known hardware-related issues, and updating the system might resolve the problem.

Bluetooth connectivity issues between your smartphone and the infotainment system of Dodge Journey can be frustrating, but they are usually easily resolved by following a few troubleshooting steps. Ensuring Bluetooth is enabled on both devices, pairing them correctly, and checking for updates are essential starting points. Restarting or resetting devices can also help establish a stable connection. Remember to stay patient and methodical when troubleshooting, as the solution is often just a few simple steps away.

The problem may start with your device or the Uconnect system. In this article, we look at all the possible reasons why Uconnect Bluetooth may stop working. We will also provide quick fixes to bring back exciting road trips.

dodge journey bluetooth isnt working

Reasons Why Your Bluetooth Is Not Working

Pairing your phone with the Uconnect system may fail because of phone or system glitches. The problems are usually easy to fix if you have installed an updated Uconnect version. The common reasons why Uconnect fails are a weak signal, phone bugs, faulty connections, and system bugs.

1. Poor Signal Strength

The Uconnect system will not connect with your device if the signal strength is poor. You can test the signal strength from the Uconnect website. Provide your vehicle model and year in the search bar. Check the signal strength following the instructions given. You can determine if the signal is poor, fair, or strong for your Dodge Journey model.

2. Uconnect Has a Problem

Uconnect can suffer issues or bugs like any other software, leading to pairing problems with other devices. You cannot diagnose the problem or fix a bug with the system. However, resetting and updating Uconnect fixes some bugs.

3. Your Phone Is Not Connected Properly

The Uconnect system may fail if your phone is not connected well. Sometimes the device fails to complete the pairing process, especially if it has been connected to other devices. In addition, you may have skipped some security checks and auto prompts when connecting to the Uconnect system. Consequently, the phone blocks any pairing attempts.

The auto-accept and security prompts are different for each phone model. Restart the pairing process to verify all the checks. The problem could also be with the Bluetooth settings on your phone. Reset the phone to enable wireless connections with other devices.

4. Device Malfunctions

The Bluetooth function on your phone may be working properly, but the device has other bugs or glitches. Malfunctions may cause the phone to suspend all operations as it tries to reboot the system. Restarting the device will fix the glitch.

Network problems and pending system updates may also cause Bluetooth to malfunction. Check if your network is working well and reset it, if necessary. In addition, check for any operating system updates that you may have skipped and install them.

What to Do When Your Uconnect Bluetooth Is Not Working

You can fix most Bluetooth problems without calling your mechanic or car dealer. However, you must ensure that the solutions you attempt apply to your car and phone model. For instance, each car model has different instructions for resetting the Bluetooth function and installing updates. This guide discusses the solutions that work for most Dodge Journey models.

1. Ensure That Your Phone is Discoverable

You may have trouble with the Bluetooth connection if Uconnect cannot find your phone. Confirm that your phone is discoverable before checking other functions. The process is simple. Open the Bluetooth settings on your device and turn on the "discoverable" mode.

The terms may differ depending on your phone model, but the point is to ensure that other devices can find and connect to it. In addition, ensure that the security settings allow you to use Bluetooth and other external connections.

2. Restart Your Phone

Sometimes fixing the Bluetooth connection problem is as simple as restarting your device. If your phone is discoverable but not pairing properly with Uconnect, power it off or remove the battery for a few minutes, and then turn it on. 3. Clear the Pairing History

After restarting the phone and closing unnecessary apps, delete the pairing history on your phone and vehicle. Go to the Bluetooth settings on your phone, trace the Uconnect connection, and delete or forget it. You need to do the same on the Uconnect system on your Dodge Journey.

You can reset the Bluetooth connection in the vehicle by turning off the ignition key for a few seconds and turning it back on. Alternatively, you can follow these steps to delete the pairing history:

  • Open the Uconnect settings on your car's display unit and then tap the Connections button.
  • Scroll down the connections list to identify and select your phone.
  • Locate the option to "Delete All Pairing History."
  • Select "Delete" on the pop-up menu.

Ensure that the phone is discoverable and reconnect the two devices again. If the connection is unavailable or poor, follow the other troubleshooting instructions below.

4. Disconnect Other Devices

The Uconnect Bluetooth system cannot connect to your phone if it is connected to another device. You or your passenger may have paired Uconnect with other devices unknowingly. Disconnect any other device first before pairing it with your preferred phone.

In addition, go to Bluetooth settings on your phone again and forget any other paired device. Connect your phone to the Uconnect system in your Dodge Journey again and test the strength of the connection.

5. Install Uconnect Updates

Uconnect developers release occasional software updates for different car models. The updates improve your experience and fix any bugs in older app versions. An outdated version may be slow to connect with your phone.

Visit the Uconnect website and search for the latest updates for your car model. In this case, enter your Dodge Journey year in the search bar. Download and install any updates using the instructions given. It is advisable to check for updates regularly, even when the app is working for the best user experience.

In most cases, you need at least 4GB of storage space on a USB drive to save the updated software on your computer. Plug the USB drive into your vehicle's infotainment center. Start the car and keep it in the run position.

Follow the prompts and provide the anti-theft code, which is available from an authorized dealer. The anti-theft code protects your car and its systems from breaches. In addition, installing all the latest updates ensures that the Uconnect system works at its optimal performance always.

Uconnect updates are free. The free version has the features you need to start the engine, lock the doors, activate the horn, and turn on the lights. However, you can upgrade your subscription to access premium features, such as stolen vehicle assistance, drive rating report, or roadside assistance call.

6. Reset Uconnect

Another simple solution is to reset the Uconnect system, especially when other troubleshooting tips do not solve the problem. The reset steps vary with the Uconnect version.

  • Turn on the ignition key on run mode and leave the vehicle in park.
  • Press and hold the Bluetooth connection or phone button for about 30 seconds and then release it. The display terms differ with the car model. Some models require you to simultaneously press the tuner knob and volume button for about 20 seconds. Accept any prompt to restart or reset the system.
  • The screen will display the vehicle brand and then go off for some time.
  • The display screen will show your vehicle brand again. Uconnect will restart and reset itself to the default settings.

The system will take you back to the main screen, where you can repair your phone. It is advisable to reset the system often to keep the connection strong.

7. Contact the Customer Service or Car Manufacturer

The tips shared here fix most of the Bluetooth issues. However, you can seek further assistance from Uconnect if the problem persists. The customer service is helpful with poor signal strength when resetting the system does not improve the connection.

If Uconnect customer support confirms that the signal is strong, check with your car manufacturer or dealer for an alternative solution. The car system may have security checks that hinder connections with third-party software.

Bluetooth may stop working if the Uconnect signal is poor or the software glitches. Malfunctions in your phone, including slow apps and a poor network connection, can cause Bluetooth problems. In addition, the pairing process may fail if you skip some security checks and auto-accept requests. Restarting your phone may solve glitches and reset the Bluetooth function.

You can reset the Uconnect system and install the latest updates for your Dodge Journey model for better performance. The Uconnect website lists all the updates and instructions for car owners to update their software. You can also upgrade your Uconnect subscription to enjoy premium features.

Dodge Journey: How To Reset UConnect

If your Dodge’s infotainment screen or system is glitching or freezing out, don’t fret. Bad updates, overloaded memory, or temporary electrical issues can all cause the system to temporarily bug out.

Luckily, you can reset the UConnect system or the car’s electronics to remove the most common issues.

How to Reset UConnect in Dodge Journey

Ever since the second major release of UConnect, the system can be soft reset solely through the infotainment buttons on the console. You’ll need to turn on the vehicle, but it’s recommended to keep the engine off. Here’s what you need to do:

  • Press and hold the “Volume” and “Tune” buttons on the infotainment system.
  • Wait until the screen goes blank or displays the Dodge logo.
  • Release the buttons and wait for a bit.
  • The system should automatically restart, displaying the Dodge logo and other startup information.
  • You can now use the infotainment system normally.

For the oldest version of UConnect, it’s best to turn off the car, wait a few minutes, then turn it on again.

In newer vehicles, you can also find a second option for soft-resetting the system:

  • Press and hold the “Up” and “Down” arrows on the console (for climate controls). In some cars, you may need to press the “Phone” and “Mute” buttons at the bottom of the console.
  • Wait until the “Engineering Menu” shows on the screen.
  • Use the scroller on the screen to go to “Reset to factory settings.” You can also choose to reset the radio (“Reset radio”) only if that’s your primary concern.
  • Select the option on the touchscreen, then hit “Yes” to confirm.

This option won’t work if the screen itself is unresponsive, but it completely removes previous settings and updates that may be messing with the system.

How to Reset a Dead Infotainment System

If the entire infotainment system is unresponsive and the screen is completely black, then it may have blown a fuse or another electrical component.

The fuse box for Dodge Journeys is typically located under the glovebox. It has a lid that opens by hooking one finger into the gap and pulling. The lid should also have a printed or etched fuse box plan inside.

You need to replace the 10A fuse in the second row of fuses (second on the right). Turn off the car before pulling the fuse and check it with a multimeter to ensure it’s actually blown. Consult the fuse plan on the lid or the owner’s manual to ensure you’re replacing the correct fuse.

If the fuse is not blown, put it back into the box and try to start the radio system. If that still doesn’t work, you may have a deeper electrical issue that warrants a professional inspection.

Reset the System by Draining the Car

As a last resort, you can remove the battery for the car and drain its electricity to hard reset the UConnect system:

  • Open the hood.
  • Remove the cables from the battery (starting with the negative).
  • Honk the horn or turn on the headlights to drain the battery completely.
  • Wait for a few minutes.
  • Reconnect the battery cables (positive first this time).
  • Start the car and check the infotainment system.

What If the Screen Is Different?

In some cases, resetting the system will change how your infotainment screen and options look. That’s because factory settings will likely revert UConnect to an older version with a different UI. Typically, leaving the car alone for a few minutes with an active internet or cellular connection will prompt it to download the latest UConnect version and fix the issue.

If this doesn’t happen, navigate to “Settings” on the screen and select “Software Update.” This option has been relocated on the display a few times on different UConnect versions and may also be named differently depending on the version. You can typically find the current version number at the bottom of the screen while the system boots. Check the UConnect website for the operating manual for that specific release.

This absolutely did not work

Doesn’t work

Same, did not work on my radio

My Dodge Journey Uconnect still down or no operationnal

It should be in your manual.

I have my manual and it says nothing

Did not work and this is very frustrating

did not work for my 2013 dodge journey sxt still can’t connect to bluetooth very sad

How do I preset radio station in 2015 dodge journey

Tried to reset my uconnect but the procedure I found did not work. Still uconnect is unusable. Haven’t been able to use my unconnected for over 2 years and yet Dodge wants to charge me over $200 to fix it because it’s supposedly the module. Dodge should add this problem as a defect. Angry, frustrated 🤬😡

I agree, we pay a lot of money for these options and I am tired of the vehicle industry just washing their hands of their responsibilities to their clientele.

I sold my 2019 dodge charger after 6 months because of this issue, I drive to much for something so trivial to irritate me every single day. Took it in multiple times to get it fixed and the dealer couldn’t/wouldn’t fix it.

That’s hilarious. Up here in Canada it cost me over $1000 to replace. Then it went out a couple of months later.

My 2015 Journey crossroad’s uconnect will not come on after I start the vehicle until a few miles down the road. this happens mostly during cold weather; vehicle is garage kept.

I found a loose connection in the back of my 8.4 uconnect screen that was loose which caused it not to come on or sometimes go out and back on. I pulled all connections apart sprayed some electrical cleaner on them and replaced the connection, haven’t had any more problems sense. Search on You-Tube for instruction on how to remove the device.

I NEED A “HARD” RESET!!! NOBODY GETS THIS??? WILL NOT WORK AFTER FIRESTONE REPLACED BATTERY!!!

Uconnect is GARBAGE. It got corrupted during the update process! NAV never worked since.

Same for me. Don’t know what I can do now, feel certain it’s software not hardware!

I have follow the steps but my dodge journey sxt 2016 uconnect is not connecting

2016 Dodge Journey USB works with IPOD, but not bluetooth. Smartphone connects to Uconnect via bluetooth with no problem, weird thing is, my 2013 Dodge Avenger has no problem via blue tooth with smartphone or Ipod.

I got my self a aux/bt wireless connector / adapter that I plug on the aux input under the armrest with USB power connect my phone and there we go.. Bye bye frustration go away.. Costs me 8 bucks…

I bought a rt model in germany not long ago, the same, total crap, I read everything possible, even about fuse 131,128, total shit, as written above, software sucks from 2012 to 2016 unconnect crap,

Well I have no hope now, having g same problem, I’m not paying for the to fix this bs, guess I just use my bt speaker in car smh

Dodge Journey Bluetooth Not Working (9 Proven Fixes)

Bluetooth is an excellent feature for listening to music and calls while driving a Dodge Journey. Sometimes, the Bluetooth feature may stop working due to some technical errors.

Last night, while driving, I also faced bluetooth connectivity issues with my Dodge Journey. I worried about what was happening to it. Then, I researched it and concluded the reasons for the problem.

If you are facing bluetooth issues, you can use bluetooth again at your Dodge until the end of this guide.

Let’s dive into:

Table of Contents

How to Fix Dodge Journey Bluetooth Not Working?

Dodge Journey Bluetooth Not Working

Before doing anything else, check your mobile compatibility and ensure bluetooth is turned on. Also, ensure you use the latest software version on your mobile and Dodges.

But I still have no idea how to do these things, so go through with me until the end to understand every troubleshooting step.

1. Compatibility with UConnect

Suppose you are using an incompatible mobile phone that does not support bluetooth connectivity with Uconnect.

In that case, it may be the reason for your problem. So, ensure you have a compatible device to connect with Dodge Journey.

You can check the compatibility online and see your specific model from the user manual. Overall, Android mobiles with OS 6.0 software are compatible with Dodge Journey .

After ensuring the compatibility, try to connect the bluetooth to check if the problem is now fixed.

2. Make Sure Bluetooth is On

If bluetooth on one device, like on your mobile or Dodge, is not enabled, you may face bluetooth issues . So make sure that bluetooth is enabled on your Dodge and mobile phone.

Access your Uconnect system and then bluetooth settings to ensure bluetooth connectivity is enabled.

Then do the same with your mobile phone, as you can see bluetooth connectivity from the quick menu of your mobile and from the settings app, too.

It does not end with bluetooth because some mobile phones have the feature of visibility. If the visibility is turned off, your mobile will not appear in the Dodge Uconnect system.

After ensuring these settings, you should check by connecting the bluetooth to ensure it is working well.

3. Interference

As bluetooth is a wireless feature, it could be interrupted due to interference from other bluetooth devices in your Dodge.

Make sure there is no other device with enabled bluetooth because, in that case, your vehicle will need clarification while pairing.

If you have more than one mobile inside your vehicle, ensure these mobiles’ bluetooth connectivity is turned off.

Also, ensure no other device has bluetooth features like earbuds or wireless headphones. If you have, turn them off before connecting your mobile phone with Uconnect.

After removing the interferences, it’s time to check whether the bluetooth is working.

4. Network Reset

Sometimes, the network settings may be corrupted for some reason, and you need to know which settings hinder the connectivity.

In that case, you should try network reset because it will change the network settings to default.

Follow these steps for a network reset:

  • Open the settings app
  • Find a backup and restore option
  • Click and open here. You will see Network Reset
  • Open network reset and press the reset option
  • You will be asked by pop-up message if you really want to reset
  • Press yes, and your networks like wifi, hotspot, and bluetooth settings will be reset to default

After the network reset, you must set the bluetooth settings of your mobile phone according to your needs.

5. Firmware Update

Uconnect releases security updates from time to time. If you do not upgrade your vehicle, you might face connectivity issues.

So, ensure you have updated the Uconnect system to the latest version. Go to the Uconnect website for the latest updates for your Dodge Journey model.

You will need a USB and a laptop or computer to update the software.

Follow these steps to update your Dodge software:

  • Open Uconnect website
  • Enter your Vehicle Identification Number [VIN]
  • Here you will see the updates which are pending to download
  • Download the updates to your laptop or computer
  • Copy the same file in USB
  • Plug the USB into your Dodge Journey
  • You will be asked on the infotainment screen by pop-up notification with two different software version numbers
  • Press Yes, and installation will be started
  • Do not turn off the ignition, and do not remove the USB while installing a newer version
  • After installation, your infotainment screen will be restarted
  • Again, a pop-up notification will appear, and if you see the version numbers are now the same, then press No
  • Remove the USB from your vehicle

Now, your Dodge is on a newer version, and all the connectivity issues are resolved due to the installation of the newer version.

Now try to connect your phone through bluetooth with your Dodge Journey.

6. Forget the Connection

If you have been using your mobile phone with your Dodge bluetooth for a long time, then you must know that the connection may be corrupted due to the passage of time.

When you have a saved connection in your infotainment and do not refresh it, chances increase for bugs and glitches in connection.

To fix these issues, you must forget the older connection from your infotainment screen and mobile phone and then try to re-pair both.

Now, your connection will be refreshed and will start working.

7. Restart Your Mobile

Sometimes, your mobile could be stuck due to software bugs and glitches, and you must have to restart your mobile to fix these glitches.

These bugs and glitches could occur due to third-party apps and malware in software.

Follow these steps to restart your mobile phone:

  • Press and hold the power button
  • Here, you will see a power menu
  • Click on restart

Your phone will be turned off and turned on automatically after a few seconds. It will fix all the software glitches that may create bluetooth connectivity problems.

You can also restart your mobile phone by simply turning it off manually and then turning it on.

8. Hard Reset Dodge

Sometimes, the software of your Dodge may also be stuck due to technical errors or glitches. You can fix these glitches by hard resetting your Dodge.

Follow these steps to hard reset your Dodge Journey:

  • Turn the ignition off
  • Remove the battery terminals for 10-15 minutes
  • Connect the terminals again
  • Turn on the ignition

This process will reset your Dodge and refresh the connectivity features. After a hard reset, you should test your bluetooth connectivity again to see whether it works.

9. Contact Support

If you have tried all the troubleshooting methods mentioned in this guide and are still facing the issues, you must contact the support team.

Describe the issues and the troubleshooting you have tried on your Dodge Journey.

Conclusion

If your Dodge Journey bluetooth is not working , ensure your mobile phone is compatible with bluetooth, and the bluetooth connection is turned on.

Ensure that there is no other bluetooth device interfering with the connection.

Try to troubleshoot the problem by restarting your mobile phone and Dodge. Also, try updating the software of your Dodge Journey.

Uconnect / Bluetooth not working/ This might be your Fix

2012 journey bluetooth not working

  • Add to quote

I hope this will help somebody. I have a 2012 Dodge Charger SXT & my Uconnect/Bluetooth quit working about 2 months ago. I researched online to see if there was a way for me to fix it myself. Alot of ppl are having the same problem with Dodge. I tried all the tricks. Nothing worked. The one thing I didn't want to do was to replace it completely like other ppl had to & costing around $700. Meanwhile every now & then the battery saver mode would pop up on my messages/dash which had me worried so I went & had my battery tested. I had it tested for free at Advanced Auto Parts. My battery read good but stated it needed to be charged yet my alternater was good which I knew bc it was replaced by a recall not long ago. I still had the original battery that came with the car. So the man said maybe it's about to go bad & that's why it's not getting/holding a full charge. I mean it is 7 yrs old. So I went today to the Dodge Dearlership near me to get it replaced bc no Auto parts store will install it..believe me I went to multiple different part stores..all bc it's in the trunk & the parts stores won't let them install them bc it's around cables & wires that's a little more complicated they say & puts them at risk of messing stuff up. It states they can't install it on their computers when looking it up for my car also. Anyway my husband read online somewhere when researching my Uconnect problem that if your battery doesn't have full power that some of your electronics will stop working. I knew I needed a battery anyway. My car always cranked & I never needed a jump but just going off the battery saver mode notification & looking up what it meant.. I got worried recently when I saw a video of a man stating don't let your battery completely die in your Charger. Bc nothing will work then. You can't pop the trunk to get to your battery then. He had to climb through the back seats to try to get to the trunk & I don't remember how he got the trunk open but put it this way..you don't wanna have to do it.. After replacing my battery today..my Uconnect/Bluetooth is back working. Dealerships or Service writers aren't gonna tell you if that might be your problem bc everybody's trying to make money. Money to replace a module plus labor vs a battery replacement. Not saying this is always the case but it was my case. So if your battery isn't working as good as it should be then that's probably your problem. Just get your battery tested for free first to see if it's good & charging completely. If it's saying you need to charge it then have them test your alternater for free if it's good then you might need to get a new battery like I did just so everything works like it's supposed to. If that's not your fix then maybe it's the module.

The "battery saver mode" message is a warning that your battery is not able to keep up the demands being put on it. I always interpret it as a early warning message telling you to replace the battery. When the "Battery Saver Mode" or “Battery Saver On" message is displayed, the vehicle will turn off certain electrical functions to reduce battery energy consumption. This will occur during periods when the battery is not being adequately charged or the battery is not capable of keeping up with the demand . During this time, the following features (if equipped) may be turned off or will operate at a reduced power level: heated seats and heated steering wheel, heated or cooled cup-holder, rear defroster and heated mirrors, heating and air conditioning, power inverter, audio and telematics system. .

If your new battery goes dead, the problem is the telematics module itself. I had the exact same problem on my Journey, battery tests good but needed replacing. Replaced it and everything was good for a few months. Then it died again, Pulled the fuse for the Telematics module and battery charged up and worked fine for months. Reconnected fuse and battery got weak again. You may have just bandaided the problem with a new battery, if your car sits for more than 5 days you may find a low battery if the module is bad.

Update..since replacing my battery.. I'm back to every now & then my Uconnect not working. I gave up checking to see if it worked about a week ago. Something told me to check it yesterday & surprisingly it worked but today...not working... Ugh! When replacing my battery I wanted to get a more powerful battery but was limited on space since it's in the trunk & had to get it installed at a Dodge Dealership bc regular auto parts stores won't touch it. Costing me $65 for the installation. I saw YouTube videos of ppl getting better batteries that could handle all the electronics but was discouraged when I was told they wouldn't fit properly yet I saw them being installed by Charger owners. Maybe they customized their trunks idk. Anyway I'm back to square one. Lol maybe I need to research the telematics module. Thanks for the replys. ?

The non-Police Chargers have either a 160A or a 180A alternator. The Police Chargers have a 220A alternator. A higher amp alternator has an easier time of keeping the battery fully charged. There is only one factory Mopar spec battery for the non-Police Chargers. This is probably why the dealership only offered one option. Any battery you install should meet the factory spec so that the battery will fit correctly. For 2012 ... BCI Group Size = 94R The outside dimensions and terminal placement of the battery conform to standards established by the Battery Council International (BCI). Each battery is assigned a BCI Group Size number to help identify a correctly-sized replacement. Cold Cranking Amperage = 730 Reserve Capacity = 140 Ampere-Hours = 72 Since the battery is in the trunk it needs to be vented to the outside. There's a vent tube in the trunk that plugs into the battery. You need a battery that has a vent hole properly located so the vent tube can plug into it. None of this helps with the telematics module but it does explain why the auto parts stores didn't want anything to do with the battery and why the dealership only had one battery choice. You can look at the Build Sheet (Equipment Listing) for you car and see what alternator was installed at the factory. The link is https://fcacommunity.force.com/RAM/s/equipment-listing Enter the VIN in all CAPS if you get a message that says the VIN could not be found. You need a healthy alternator to keep the battery healthy. You can check to see if your car was included in the FCA alternator recall. Just after warranty expired. Very Convenient! I'll give the dealer props, though. They also replaced the cable at no charge, gave me a loaner for the day while the part was being ordered (they had to take apart the console to get to it.). Also knocked 15% off the bill. It every now and then has connectivity issues but it fixes when I unplug my iTouch & plug it back in.

This is now the 3rd time that I have had it in for the radio control issues and now this time issues with the Bluetooth not working. They replaced some module that was suppose to take care of everything. They were able to connect to the Bluetooth and it all seemed to be working for them. I left that afternoon with it, tried to connect my phones Bluetooth would not connect and then the next morning issues again with the radio controllers on the steering wheel. I am beyond irritated with this bullshit. 3 times in for the same thing and NO FIX, so glad that we purchased an extended warranty on it. Will be taking it back and this time I will not be paying the deductible on the warranty and expect some compensation for this

Same as another person I've seen complain about it, my touch screen radio sometimes just doesn't come on. some times you start the vehicle, the screen comes on, shows the radio is on, but no sound. you touch a button and it gives what I call a failure sound. Turn the car off, and then back on and it is fine. It does this ever so often, like whenever it feels like it. Don't know what to do. I'm not paying Dodge to put in another radio, but I will mention it to them again. Funny enough, it never does it in front of 1 of their Techs!! Waits till I get it home or somewhere else. Of course, Dodge says they can't fix it if they don't see a problem.

Hello , I just got a Journey SXT with Bluetooth and auto climate button, the Bluetooth is not working at all.

My question is if I put the 8.4 model will make the Bluetooth working again or I will need to buy the Bluetooth/hands free module also?

Thanks for the help.

The problem could be as simple as a loose connector.  It can also be the radio, but it is more likely to be the Bluetooth module. This is the sort of thing a dealer should be checking for you.

That is the problem , here in Brasil we don't have a lot of dealers here. I'm very far for one.

What i need to know is if the Bluetooth module has a problem is going to be fix with the upgrade to a 8.4 or not.

Thanks any way

marcisikoff

Probably not.  If it doesn't work at all but the radio does work, it's likely the bluetooth module or it's wiring harness  that's bad.

Some sellers told me that the 8.4 uses the bluetooth from them and not from the module... But i'm afraid of buying and have to give back.... Thanks

Those sellers would be wrong.

Yes!!! Its working like a charm! I purchase the original model by AIko and everything is working , bluetooth , climate controls , handsfree , navigation and rear camera. The installed for me and i will put some pictures after. Great!!

Thanks for the help!
