We had a wonderful time with Aqua Safari! We did a Discover scuba experience. My daughter is certified, myself and her friend were not. Be sure to fill out the medical paperwork long before you come! If you check yes to anything you will need to have your dr sign off on your paperwork! The staff was friendly! The fee for the day is $8 per person for the place where we were going (that is in addition to the fee that you pay for the excursion) Be sure to bring cash for that and if you want to tip your guide. They can not run credit card tips..... For Discover Scuba they will start you off with getting fitted for gear, and then a talk over how everything works. It was a little overwhelming but once you get in it will all make sense. Then after that you will need to go and do a skills test of sorts to make sure you are going to be okay with everything under water. Once that is successfully completed, then you will head out on the boat, most likely with other groups. The overall experience was around 4 hours and very much worth it! We thoroughly enjoyed ourselves! Our guide was super patient with us! Would highly recommend this company and experience if in cozumel area!

A few words about our Aqua Safari Experience. Our family decided to get certified at the start of a one week stay at Cozumel Palace. Vanessa Ramirez was our Dive Instructor. She took my wife and I and two of our daughters through all of the skills and practice dives and it was a wonderful experience. Her skills, patience and humor was greatly appreciated! After our certification, we went on several boat dives with Captain Roger on Ocean One. Great experience! Shamyr, the deck hand, was truly a delight. He's so helpful and was constantly looking out for us and helping with our gear and weights, making sure we always had a bottle of water and has such a bright an positive disposition - it was a delight to see him on the boat every evening. Since we had minors, we also had a dive guide, Daniel Gongora, who was equally amazing. He was out "Shamyr" under the water. We were able to see all sorts of marine life due to his expert eye!

Been diving for 25 plus years. The service, attention to detail, and great diving is second to none. If you find yourself wanting to dive in Cozumel, you won't be disappointed. Call aqua safari. They are the BEST!

Ricardo certified both my kids 17 & 15 yr olds with their 4 cert dives. He was patient and made sure they understood and comfortable with all skills. The day after we went on a boat dive as he walked into the shop he immediately started assisting the kids with their gear and discussing the boat process. Awesome guy and very knowledgeable. Super patient, HIGHLY RECOMMEND.

Aqua Safari is a very well established dive operation but has not been added to Yelp! Although they do offer classes and certify new divers, they are a great operation for experienced divers. We stayed at a resort down the beach. They picked us up at our dock and off to our destination. If you like larger boats that are offered in MX, then you will love Aqua Safari. They had a good crew and the dive sites of course are spectacular. We did not rent equipment but those on the boat who did seemed happy. We had dives cancelled due to weather and they gladly refunded our money! I have issues with being able to put weight on my ankle and knee...the crew graciously moved my gear to the edge and helped me out... Fantastic. I will use again!!!

Patricio was my dive instructor. I was really excited about Intro to Scuba, was hoping to have a new hobby when we travel. He was very hard to understand, and did not explain in detail. He was slow to get us going and it felt like we were playing catch-up. We were in 2 groups of 4 and I was jealous of the other group, I felt their instructor (a female, Andrea? Maybe?) was more into the instruction of it all and way easier to understand. I heard a buzzing the whole time I was underwater and it freaked me out, I wasn't sure if that was normal or not. When I tried to ask, he couldnt understand what I was asking or capable of answering. I felt like that ruined the experience because I couldnt relax. If I knew it was normal and its surrounding sounds, I wouldn't have stressed. Patricio also didnt get my weights and float vest right. I was either too high, or hitting the ground, instead of being able to hover. I was worried about bothering the sea life because I couldnt get situated and "go with the flow" like others. It was cool being under water, but the experience made me not want to bother with Scuba again and that sucks.

I've been diving with Aqua Safari for years and have always had a great time. The crew are helpful and friendly and all speak at least enough English to get by. We always take Walter as our private guide which bumps up the experience to amazing.

Aqua Safari provided our group with a great dive experience. They typically have a underwater photographer on board to take pictures during the dive. Denise did a fantastic job putting our pictures together. The dive masters were very accommodating and insured we experienced the best dive possible. We did 6 total dives and all were very enjoyable. Would highly recommend Aqua Safari to both the veteran diver and the novice. They make it fun for all.

Amazing views of the downtown waterfront from some rooms enhance the benefits of staying in this immaculate budget hotel above the Aqua Safari Dive Shop. Up to five people can stay one of four rooms with a king bed and three twins, perfect for dive groups who prefer spending their money on multiple trips to Cozumel's world-famous reefs. Hot water for showers can be a bit sporadic, and televisions, phones, and other modern comforts are missing, but the air conditioning is good and mini fridges are available. If you're looking for romance and fancy pools stay elsewhere—divers or wallet-conscious travelers won't find a better bargain.

Aqua Safari was recently designated a PADI Five Star facility, a testimony to the quality of the operation's facilities and services. Aqua Safari was named a NAUI Dream Resort in 1991.

Aqua Safari recently added a new Delta, Belinda, to complement their fast-boat Danielle. The 28-foot, Cat diesel-powered Belinda speeds divers to the reefs. The Belinda and Danielle are models of a new generation of boats for Cozumel. They are wide, stable, safe and fast. Although capable of carrying ten divers in comfort, the Belinda averages six passengers per trip.

Safety is Aqua Safari's hallmark. Every aspect of Aqua Safari's operation reflects this primary objective. The equipment aboard the dive vessels reflects the best U.S. Coast Guard standards. Aqua Safari is the only dive operation on Cozumel to equip all boats with 100% oxygen first aid capability. Once a month all divemasters, mates and captains review CPR. Pure air is a vital concern at Aqua Safari. The testimony: Servicios de Seguridad Subacuaticas, the local recompression chamber, draws air from Aqua Safari's enormous banks. And Aqua Safari provides SSS hyperbaric chamber insurance for all guest divers. All divers are offered a free welcome tank for brush-up and check-out dives and buoyancy adjustments.

The Aqua Safari employees are dedicated professionals. Most are veterans of many years with the operation. With Plaza Las Glorias and Safari Inn Hotel, Aqua Safari offers accommodations ranging from luxurious to budget.

Plaza Las Glorias is a premier five-star beach front resort in the southern hotel zone. It's a ten-minute walk from downtown San Miguel. The stylish and spacious property combines traditional and modern architectural themes. Plaza Las Glorias offers a selection of 171 luxuriously furnished junior suites, master suites and duplexes, all air conditioned and all with spectacular ocean views, private terrace, separate living room, satellite TV, hair dryers, telephones and in-room security boxes. The welcome desk area expands into a huge lobby with a tasteful bar and social center. The north wing leads to a selection of shops and the in-house Aqua Safari dive center.

Plaza Las Glorias and Aqua Safari both welcome large groups for conventions and conferences. Plaza Las Glorias features two convention halls. The resort just broke ground on the new Cozumel Convention Center, slated for completion in mid-1995.

The spacious Aqua Safari Dive Center at Plaza Las Glorias is a few steps from the dock. The equipment rental center, wet storage lockers and gear washing station are admirably designed and handy.

Members of Resort Condominiums International (RCI) can trade a week at their "home" resort for a week at Plaza Las Glorias.

Safari Inn is a small, friendly 12-room hotel above the downtown Aqua Safari Dive Shop. Rooms are simple yet modern, clean and comfortable. All have air conditioning and private bath. Eight rooms with king-sized beds are ideal for two guests. Four rooms with two twin beds, two bunk beds and sofa bed accommodate up to five.

Aqua Safari offers a wide menu of day and night dives, including one-, two- and three-tank tours. Boats depart from the private Aqua Safari dock downtown and pick up divers at hotels Plaza Las Glorias, Barracuda, La Ceiba, Sol Caribe, Casa del Mar and El Presidente. For safe advanced dives on reefs like Punta Sur and Maracaibo, Aqua Safari has the Advanced Diving Program. For Cozumel beach diving, consult Aqua Safari's friendly staff. They are happy to point out attractive areas and advise on currents and safety. Unlimited air packages are available from many Aqua Safari representatives in the U.S..

As a PADI 5-Star facility and NAUI Dream Resort, Aqua Safari offers a full range of PADI and NAUI instruction, including introductory, advanced, specialty, referrals and refresher courses.

Aqua Safari offers the ideal Discover SCUBA program. At 12:30 daily, newcomers start their introduction in the shallow waters off Plaza Las Glorias. After training, a boat heads to colorful Paradise Reef for the resort dive at less than forty feet.

Aqua Safari

Aqua Safari allows public access to their pier. It is a great location for many hotels in the downtown area, including Casa Mexicana , allowing walking from your room to the pier. It is also easy walking distance for anyone arriving by ferry from Playa del Carmen, or on a cruise docking at Punta Langosta. Access to the public pier requires a $1 fee per person per day.
