They are a jam band with a sound that is described as progressive rock, but they refer to themselves as the created “joyfunk.” CBDB started out as a three-piece group before slowly expanding to five members: Cy Simonton (vocals, guitar), Glenn Dillard (saxophone, keyboards), Kris Gottlieb (lead guitar), Blake Gallant (bass) and Chris Potocik (drums). They have toured with notable names like The Wailers, Blues Spafford and Kyle Hollingsworth Band. They have even been named on the lineups of massive music festivals like Okeechobee, Huluween and Summer Camp.

They have accumulated an impressive discography over the years including their 2015 EP, The Fame – EP, as well as singles like “Old Dog” from 2016 and “Unintentional Liar” from 2018. CBDB has also released several albums like Phone.Keys.Wallet, Joyfunk Is Dead and Out of Line. They have established a large fanbase with more than 78,000 monthly listeners on Spotify. CBDB Announces Indefinite Hiatus Following Deebs Days

CBDB  will go on indefinite hiatus following its August  Deebs Days  event, the band announced late on Wednesday. The group has a handful of dates until the two-day celebration at  Avondale Brewing Company  in Birmingham, AL on August 19th and 20th.

“It is with heavy hearts we announce that after Deebs Days in August, we will be taking an indefinite hiatus from CBDB,” the band wrote on social media. “The past 10+ years of touring have brought memories, friends, and music that fill our hearts with joy and could never be forgotten. We have loved every minute of it. Thank you for taking this band to places we would never have thought possible when we first started playing together. Thank you for dancing, singing, sharing, and streaming along to Deebs music all of these many years.”

The band, which currently consists of Cy Simonton , Kris Gottlieb , Glenn Dillard , Blake Gallant , and Chris Potocik , also thanked all the group’s previous members throughout the years.

“We part on the best of terms as bandmates, brothers, and friends,” CBDB wrote. “We look forward to exploring new opportunities and what the future holds. Deebs Days will be the perfect celebration to an end of an era & we look forward to seeing all of you and celebrating at all of our remaining shows.”

The band’s next show is tonight, May 12th, at  Brooklyn Bowl Nashville  with  Sicard Hollow  and  LadyCouch . CBDB has a run of Texas shows May 19th–22nd in Houston, San Antonio, Austin, and Dallas. After that comes stops in Charleston, SC (6/3);  Candler Park Music Festival   in Atlanta, GA (6/4); Charlotte, NC (6/17); and finally Raleigh, NC (6/19). This will carry CBDB to Deebs Days, the two-day event not far from the band’s hometown of Tuscaloosa. Joining the hosts will be Brass Against ,  Daniel Donato ,  Mungion , Sicard Hollow,  The Shady Recruits ,  The Mountain Grass Unit ,  The Talismen , and more.

1. you've shared the stage with artists like umphrey's mcgee, blues traveler, and the wailers. who did you get most excited about, 2. you guys are based out of alabama and spend most of your time in the southeast. would you say there is anything different from performing down there as opposed to areas up north like new york how will you bring the alabama vibe to new york, 3. your unique sound blends rock, funk, and jam into what you call “joyfunk.” how did this term originate what would you say differentiates a song in the "joyfunk" genre from any other song, 4. the recording process can be a drawn out one. your latest release “the fame ep,” is 4 tracks long and was recorded in about 14 hours total. did you have everything set in stone going into the studio with this one, 5. with two albums and an ep already out, are you ready to work on new material can we expect to hear anything unreleased at garcia’s, 6. getting a group of six guys together to rehearse often is not an easy task. in the early stages of cbdb, how did you find time to get everyone together to do things such as practice and write while balancing other obligations, 7. at the same time as your performance at garcia's, the lennon claypool delirium will be performing right next door at the capitol theatre. have you heard any of their new music are you excited to have sean lennon and les claypool playing next door.
