Taylor Swift

For the third and final night of Taylor Swift’s Chicago outing — which took over Soldier Field and the surrounding South Loop area — the superstar pulled out all the stops.

On her first night in the Windy City, Swift celebrated the start of Pride month by sharing a special, and urgent, message to the sold-out stadium. “I’m looking out tonight, I’m seeing so many incredible individuals who are living authentically and beautifully and this is a safe space for you,” Swift said “This is a celebratory space for you.”

“One of the things that makes me feel so prideful is getting to be with you, and watching you interact with each other, and being so loving, and so thoughtful, and so caring,” she continued, later adding, “I wish that every place was safe and beautiful for people in the LGBTQ community.”

For her second night, she welcomed country star Maren Morris to the stage for one of her surprise songs, the live debut of “You All Over Me,” a From The Vault track included on Fearless (Taylor’s Version) . Following the long-awaited moment, Morris posted a black and white photo of the pair on Instagram, writing: “We finally got to play ‘You All Over Me’ and I won’t ever be shutting up about it. Love you Taylor Swift and love you always, Chicago.”

As for the third night (Sunday, June 4), two opening acts the city had yet to see took to the stage: Gracie Abrams and MUNA (lead vocalist Katie Gavin, who is from the Chicago suburbs, noted the specialness of a hometown show). And while Swift’s set featured minor hiccups — from a mic malfunction to a surprise mid-set snack (the accidental swallowing of a bug) — Swift handled such moments with humor and grace, only making them that much more memorable. And proving that even a superstar like Swift, who can perform to tens of thousands of fans night after night, is also, somehow, still relatable.

Below are the seven best moments from her Chicago finale, of which Swift said: “When we have three in a row, there’s always a special reserve of energy we are saving for the third night… this is it.”

The Humorous Mishaps

While attempting to introduce The Eras Tour and herself — following songs including “Cruel Summer,” “You Need to Calm Down” and “The Man” — Swift soon realized her bedazzled mic was no longer working. “Helloo??” she mime screams into it. She then sticks her tongue out in agony while leaning back in playful despair, only to then bang her palm against it a few times for good measure. As soon as it’s replaced with a less glamorous, though functional, mic, she tells the crowd with a smile: “None of that happened.” But it wasn’t the only oops of the night, as later on Swift accidentally swallowed a bug, after which she joked, “Ooh, delicious … Is there any chance none of you saw that?”

A Tearful “Champagne Problems”

While in her evermore era, Swift speaks of her pandemic-induced creative flurry, during which she wrote, recorded and released both evermore and its predecessor folklore . When speaking of this pair of albums, she admits that she wasn’t sure how they would translate to the stage — because at the time live music seemed a distant memory. But, she says, “one song in particular I was so excited to perform live…” She then delivers the stunning and reflective “Champagne Problems” while seated at the piano. By the end she’s holding back tears as the applause only grows louder and louder, soon morphing into a “Taylor, Taylor!” chant. Swift allows it to continue, quenched by the comfort, before saying, “I love you guys so much… you’re so generous.”

An Enchanting Speak Now Moment

Though Speak Now (Taylor’s Version) is just about a month away from release, the album is only allotted one single song in the Eras setlist: the magical “Enchanted.” As the stage lights up magenta, Swift speak-singing, “Please don’t be in love with someone else,” can be heard offstage. Soon enough, she emerges in a puff of pink smoke wearing a bedazzled ball gown. As she delivers the pop ballad with commanding power and conviction, the stadium — and fans’ color-changing wristbands — light up in cotton candy colored hues, casting an as-of-yet unfamiliar calm across the open space.

The Passion For Her “Passion Project”

While giving the lowdown on her rerecording project — for which Swift is rerecording her first six albums in order to gain full ownership ––she explains in simple terms the thought behind the ambitious task: “The thing about this project is that I haven’t seen it done too many times before, so there weren’t a lot of examples for me to look at and see, you know, ‘Is this a good idea commercially?’ It wasn’t about that, it was a passion project. And a passion project is something that an artist will do regardless of whether it’s successful or not, because it just matters to them personally.” And as Swift then thanked her fans for embracing each Taylor’s Version release wholeheartedly — and even only acknowledging such versions going forward — the applause of support hit a new peak in volume. Until, that is, Swift introduced the next song: the devastatingly gorgeous (and impressively long) “All Too Well (10 Minute Version, Taylor’s Version, From The Vault).”

That Special Delivery of a Lyric From “The 1”

Most of the more shocking, humorous or enjoyable moments from The Eras Tour have by now been long circulating online — including one from folklore track “The 1.” During the song, for which Swift lies down on top of the moss-covered A-frame cabin, the line, “You meet some woman on the internet and take her home” has garnered special attention for her delivery of its latter half. Rather than singing it as heard on the album, Swift chops it up and draws it out — “and take. her. home ,” she sings, prompting “ow ows” and “woops” from the crowd.

Her Solo Unplugged One-Two Punch

For the evening’s anticipated surprise songs, Swift started with the live debut of “Hits Different” off the recently released Midnights (The Til Dawn Edition) extended album (which was previously only available on the Target exclusive version of Midnights ). “I don’t know if you’ll know this one, it’s kind of new… But we’ll seee….” teased Swift with a smile. She then performed the song on acoustic guitar standing solo at the edge of the stage. To no one’s surprise, fans knew every word. After, she sauntered over to a wooden piano painted with flowers and butterflies for her second surprise song: “The Moment I Knew” from Red .

Cross ‘em both off the list.

Her Unwavering Appreciation For Fans

Prior to the intimate, stripped down surprise songs, Swift praised those in the front rows who were performing for their lives, saying, “I’m making a lot of new friends tonight.” She then shared another message of gratitude for her devoted fans: “People ask me, ‘Are you tired at the end of the show?’ I’m like, ‘No, are they tired? You guys are head banging and thrashing and screeching. It’s so valiant and beautiful. It’s a noble thing to do… I salute you.”

Taylor Swift

Soldier Field

Chicago, IL

June 4, 2023

Review by Riley Vernon. Photos: Aubrey and Riley Vernon

Just when you think she’s peaked, Taylor Swift keeps climbing. The global powerhouse dazzled Soldier Field by wrapping up the final night of three sold-out Chicago shows on her highly anticipated “Eras Tour.” It’s been a long time coming after Swift not only broke records in single-day ticket sales and pre-sale registration — but Ticketmaster’s website. In one of the most highly anticipated tours in history, Swift delivers in presenting the show of a lifetime.

Since her “Reputation Tour” in 2018, Swift has released six albums. 2019’s Lover was positioned to have a limited-stop worldwide tour, but “Loverfest” succumbed to the Covid-19 Pandemic. Swift spent her quarantine writing 2020 sister albums Folklore and Evermore , taking her career to new heights despite the trying times. 2021 brought Swift’s dually anticipated re-recorded albums Fearless and Red — aptly suffixed as “Taylor’s Version” — both of which outsold their originals. In October 2022, Swift dropped her newest original album, Midnights (3am Edition), in a two-part release. Just when you think a tour could slow her roll, Swift announced the release of Speak Now (Taylor’s Version) in the middle of her set last month, scheduled to be released on July 7th. Since then, Swift has released two brand new bonus tracks and two remixed tracks on Midnights (The Til Dawn Edition) while announcing the Latin American leg of The Eras Tour for later this year. There is no stopping Taylor Swift, and this tour is a testament to her undeniable passion and endurance. Swift proves her success incomparable to any artist of her stature, delivering a “greatest hits” run at the currently perceivable height of her career. Within the social frenzy exists a nearly 3.5-hour, 44-song live set that makes even a football stadium feel like an intimate affair.

Soldier Field opened the night with Gracie Abrams, performing for her fifteenth time as an opener for Swift. A stellar artist in her own right, Abrams serenaded an early crowd with five songs, three of which are on her newest album— Good Riddance — released in February. Rounding out the opening acts for Chicago’s Eras Night 3 was the indie-pop trio MUNA. A hometown show for lead singer Katie Gavin, MUNA commanded the arena with infectious energy. Taking their set up, down, and around the catwalk, the group had everyone on their feet. Ending their set with their hit “Silk Chiffon,” MUNA was a fantastic closure to a momentous weekend of opening acts at Soldier Field.

As the time neared 8:00 pm, a ticking clock appeared across every screen in the arena. Lesley Gore’s 1963 hit, “You Don’t Own Me,” roared through the arena as the countdown neared zero. A hazy melody of Swift’s title tracks and previous tour openings leads us into the artist’s shimmering reveal. Opening with “Miss Americana & the Heartbreak Prince,” we were immediately enveloped in the Taylor Swift experience. Spanning 17 years and ten albums, the show takes you on a journey through Swift’s reinventive “eras” as each flashing epoch feeds into the next. With something to satisfy everyone, her set extends from her biggest smash hits to her fan-favorite deep cuts. Embodying her range becomes meaningful to even the casual fan, despite one of the most ambitious, well-rehearsed crowds a concert could offer.

The multifaceted sensation of Swift’s career is flawlessly represented in each era — from world-class visuals, immersive stage design, gleaming costumes and signature flashing colored wristbands for each seat. Complete with an extended stage and strategic choreography, the larger-than-life production of the show threatens to dwarf an artist— but not Taylor. Somehow jumping from the devastating emotional neglect of “Tolerate It” to the sultry potency of “Ready For It…?” Swift manages to be smooth and natural. The organization of each era seems lawless at first glance but works to seamlessly stream together each album and captivate a continuously engaged audience — even if your sore feet and aching back may not recognize it.

In a massive multi-destination tour that only seems to be expanding, Swift still manages to make each show feel special. Shifting costumes and momentary spoken chats with the audience are complimented by Swift’s “Surprise Songs.” Each night, she performs two additional songs from her discography in an acoustic set within the show. Making the decisions in a self-described “imprecise science,” Swift has vowed never to repeat a surprise song on the tour —unless she fumbles or the track is on Midnights . Night one heard 1989 standout “I Wish You Would” and folklore bonus track “the lakes,” for which the artist credited Lake Michigan as her motivator. Night two featured special guest Maren Morris, joining Swift on Fearless ( Taylor’s Version) track “You All Over Me [From The Vault]” accompanied by “I Don’t Want To Live Forever” on piano. Stakes were high after an unpredictable weekend of surprise songs, and Swift did not disappoint. Night three wrapped Chicago’s surprise songs with the live debut of “Hits Different,” a Midnights track released on streaming just last week. Despite its freshness, the crowd bellowed each word, completing background vocals for the stripped-back performance. Finishing off on piano was “The Moment I Knew,” a Red bonus track that has Taylor grappling with a no-show lover at her 21st birthday party. A special set of songs for a special audience made even this cosmic show feel like a clandestine meeting.

The Era’s Tour left many audience members likely uttering, “That was the best show I have ever seen,” as they shuffled out of Soldier Field. From the falling snow confetti of “All Too Well” to the glowing fireworks during the closing track “Karma,” the Era’s tour is a moment in time that every audience member will pass down like folk songs. The world moves on but one thing’s for sure: Chicago was enchanted to meet Taylor Swift.

P.S. Taylor, if you’re reading this, I promise I didn’t see you swallow that bug.

Taylor Swift’s Surprise Song at Her Final Chicago Show ‘Hits Different’

By Larisha Paul

Larisha Paul

Taylor Swift spoiled Chicago over the course of her three nights in the Windy City this weekend. On night one, she delivered a speech about creating safe spaces for her queer fans and urged her audience to vote against harmful anti-LGBTQ+ legislation. Night two saw a surprise appearance from Maren Morris for the live debut of Fearless (Taylor’s Version) vault track “ You All Over Me .” And night three featured another special live debut, with Swift stripping down the Midnights deep cut “ Hits Different ” for her first surprise song.

“It’s been thousands of times I’ve seen someone in the crowd and just seen them performing for their life,” Swift said before starting “Hits Different.” “This crowd is so special, you guys are so amazing. On a one-on-one basis, I’ve made so many new friends tonight. People are gonna ask me, like, ‘Are you tired at the end of the show?’ I’m like, no, are they tired? You guys are head-banging and thrashing and screeching.”

The addition of “Hits Different” as a surprise song also sparked hope that Swift might surprise one of her remaining crowds with “You’re Losing Me,” her latest exclusive release. The song is currently only available on a special edition CD sold in limited quantities at the singer’s tour stops.

chicago eras tour night 3

CHICAGO — Taylor Swift’s The Eras Tour is headed to Chicago — are you ready for it?

The megastar is scheduled to shake it off Friday-Sunday at Soldier Field, performing a three-hour retrospective of her 10-album discography with essentially no breaks. OWENN and girl in red will open the show Friday and Saturday, while MUNA and Gracie Abrams will kick off the festivities Sunday.

Swifties following the tour so far know all too well that planning ahead of time is crucial — from executing the best bejeweled outfit to figuring out transportation, bag policies and more.

Don’t have a cruel summer. Check out these tips and tricks to making your Eras Tour experience at Soldier Field live up to your wildest dreams.

Parking lots open 2 p.m., the doors to the show open 4:30 p.m. and opening acts take the stage about 6:30 p.m.

Based on the tour schedule so far, Taylor Swift tends to start her portion of the show about 7:50 p.m., and the set typically ends 11:15-11:30 p.m.

Getting there

By car: Major roadways like I-55, I-90, I-90/94, and I-290 all lead directly to Soldier Field. Get specific directions here . Parking is very limited near Soldier Field, but you can reserve a spot in advance through the venue’s website. Lots vary in proximity to the stadium. Currently, rates for the event range from $15-$85, plus fees, when bought ahead of time.

Shuttle service for the event will also be provided from the Millennium Park Garage and McCormick Place Lot B. The shuttle will run beginning at 4 p.m. and end at 1 a.m.

By public transportation: Concertgoers would be wise to use the city’s public transportation systems to get to and from the stadium.

Swifties heading in from rural towns or the suburbs can use Metra and Amtrak trains to get to Downtown. Passenger trains will arrive at either Union Station or Ogilvie Transportation Center , depending on the train line. From there, attendees will need to either hail a taxi, summon a rideshare service or take the No. 130 Museum Campus bus. At Union Station, the rideshare pickup location is at Canal Street and Adams Street.

Concertgoers coming from the south suburbs can take the Metra Electric line to 18th Street, which drops off passengers just steps from Soldier Field.

Attendees can also take the CTA Red, Green or Orange Line trains to the Roosevelt Station, which drops riders off about 0.75 miles from the venue — about a 20-minute walk to the stadium. Alternatively, the No. 146 Inner Drive/Michigan Express picks passengers up from the Roosevelt Station and drops them off at Soldier Field.

Travel tip: Park your vehicle at a Metra or Amtrak parking lot — or in a Chicago neighborhood — and take a train or bus to the stadium to avoid traffic and parking complications.

Taking the 146 bus from the Roosevelt Red Line, as well as just walking from the Roosevelt Red line.

chicago eras tour night 3

Walking from the Roosevelt Station to Soldier Field.

By rideshare or taxi: People taking Ubers, Lyfts, or taxis to the show will be dropped off at the 18th Drive turnaround, which is just west of the stadium. There is a pedestrian walkway that leads directly to Soldier Field.

chicago eras tour night 3

Rideshare/taxi drop-off at the 18th Drive turnaround just west of Lake Shore Drive. Also where 18th Street Metra is.

By bike: Bike racks are near Gate 14, by the Children’s Garden and behind the Kennedy Bas Relief. Bring a solid lock.

Tailgating at Soldier Field is allowed, with certain rules .

Traffic post-show will be chaotic; have patience.

Make sure to check Metra and Amtrak train times in advance, as many trains don’t run past 1 a.m. However, the CTA Red Line runs all night, though service tends to be more limited overnight.

If you are taking an Uber, Lyft or taxi after the show, the designated pickup area is at Balbo and Columbus drives for the first hour after the show. After one hour, rideshare pickup can be called to the stadium.

chicago eras tour night 3

Rideshare/taxi pick-up after the show at Balbo and Columbus.

Travel tip: If you plan to use a Metra or CTA train or bus line, download the Ventra app (or download the Amtrak app for Amtrak trains) in advance and buy tickets there so you won’t have to wait in long lines at the stations.

Soldier Field abides by the NFL’s clear bag policy, which states the following:

  • Only a clear, 12-by-6-by-12-inch bag is allowed. This is important, since the stadium won’t let any other kind of bag in. Fortunately, a quick Internet search will yield plenty of clear, concert venue-approved bags, since this policy is pretty standard now at large arenas.
  • A 1-gallon clear plastic freezer bag, like a Ziplock, is also allowed.
  • In addition to a clear plastic bag, a small clutch bag is OK. However, it can’t be bigger than 4.5 by 6.5 inches.
  • If you do bring a prohibited style of bag, you can check it at lockers at the 18th Street Turnaround south of the venue along the walkway after passing through the tunnel under Lake Shore Drive.
  • Diaper bags aren’t allowed, so diapers must be brought in within a clear bag, and one bag is allowed per person, including children.

Swifties know one of the biggest aspects of this tour has been acquiring merchandise. Fans can stop by Soldier Field before the concert for early merch sales 10 a.m.-7 p.m. Thursday and starting noon on show days. Early merch stands will be outside Gates 3 and 4, along the sidewalk north of the Waldron Deck and at the Stadium Green.

You can also stay up to date with Swift’s merch truck by following @taylornation on Instagram, where you’ll likely get a notification asking if you’d like to join a broadcast channel. That channel will send direct messages to followers with information regarding the timing and location of the tour-themed merch bus.

However, there will also be merchandise stands throughout the stadium.

Tickets waiting at Will Call can be found at the large ticket booth across from Gate 10. A photo ID with a name matching the ticketholder’s is required for pickup.

What not to bring

According to Soldier Field, the following items are prohibited:

  • Water bottles
  • Standard purses
  • Fanny packs
  • Diaper bags
  • Mace/pepper spray
  • vVdeo/movie cameras
  • Confetti (don’t worry; it will be provided)

Smoking policy

It’s probably best to keep the lavender haze at home — smoking cigarettes, including e-cigarettes and vaping devices, are prohibited in the stadium, and Soldier Field doesn’t allow re-entry.

Helpful tips

Banners and signs are allowed, but they can’t obstruct the view of others or include any profanity, advertising or political slogans.

Want a better view? Standard binoculars are fine to bring, and cameras (without a case) are also OK. However, your camera must have a 6-inch or smaller lens.

Trying to decide what to wear? This tour has become known for fans’ expressive outfits; just make sure they don’t obstruct any views. And if you’re thinking of showcasing your best cosplay for “The Man,” leave the briefcase at home; it’s not allowed inside. Also make sure to wear comfortable shoes as the show lasts over three hours.

A cardigan may also be helpful, as the current forecast shows temperatures in the 70s. However, in Chicago, the weather can change at a moment’s notice, so make sure to keep checking the forecast.

Attendees may also want to opt for a poncho, as Swift has played at least two shows during rainstorms so far.

In Nashville, one show was delayed by a thunderstorm for about 4 hours before Swift took the stage to perform into the wee hours of the morning. The show at Soldier Field is expected to go on regardless of sunshine or midnight rain.

One user  tweeted  six of her looks from Friday night, writing, "now THAT is how you put on a show, taylor swift you are insane."

Another  wrote , "forever grateful to live in the same lifetime as taylor swift," sharing a photo of her singing in a dark, shimmery dress.

Though Swift will be playing to stadiums and arenas, many fans were left disappointed when they couldn't purchase tickets from Ticketmaster back in November after the general sale was canceled.

The ticketing company previously  said in a statement  that over 3.5 million fans registered for the Verified Fan program at the time — the largest number in the company's history. Ticketmaster also noted that they experienced a “staggering number of bot attacks,” contributing to 3.5 billion total system requests, four times its previous peak.

At the level of demand Ticketmaster saw in the fall, the company said that Swift would need to perform over 900 stadium shows, or do a performance every night for the next two and a half years. Ticketmaster was questioned by the  Senate Judiciary Committee  after the fiasco.

Swift took to  social media  on the day the public sale was set to take place, writing in an Instagram story that she's "extremely protective of my fans."

“It’s really difficult for me to trust an outside entity with these relationships and loyalties, and excruciating for me to just watch mistakes happen with no recourse,” she wrote.

In December, however, some fans got  another chance at tickets  after Ticketmaster worked with "Taylor's team" to provide additional opportunities.

Will it be the greatest concert film ever made? Taylor Swift’s movie made from her record-breaking Eras Tour that enchanted fans worldwide will likely break records of its own this weekend.

“Taylor Swift: The Eras Tour” opens in theaters Thursday in the U.S. and Canada for early-access showings, moved up from its expected release on Friday — a surprise Swift announced before the movie’s world premiere Wednesday night in Los Angeles. It’ll open in 90 other countries Friday.

For fans planning to catch a screening in the Chicago area, we’ve compiled a list of what to know, how to score tickets, what’s included in the movie, rules for singing and dancing and more.

What is the ‘Taylor Swift: The Eras Tour’ movie?

The Eras Tour is Swift’s ongoing concert tour that’s selling out stadiums across the country and internationally. It features music from the star’s 10 studio albums (or all her “eras”), from pop ballads to country twang. Thousands of people flocked to Soldier Field for Swift’s three-night stop in Chicago in June.

The concert film, directed by Sam Wrench, was recorded in August during the first three nights of her six-show run at SoFi Stadium in California. One of the most-anticipated parts of Swift’s concerts are the surprise songs. She performed nine during the three days of filming — “Death by a Thousand Cuts,” “You’re on Your Own, Kid,” “Our Song,” “You Are in Love,” “I Can See You” and “Maroon” — meaning they have a chance of making the movie.

The movie is rated PG-13 for “some strong language and suggestive material” and has a runtime of 2 hours and 48 minutes, about half an hour shorter than the actual concert. Fans know what to expect.

“As Taylor, mother, instructed us to do: dance, trade friendship bracelets and be very excited. We’re just as excited as if this was going to be another concert,” said Jake Peterson, a 38-year-old Lincoln Park resident and self-proclaimed Swiftie.

Where can I watch the movie in the Chicago area?

Seemingly at every local theater. At tstheerastourfilm.com , you can enter your address to find venues near you.

Prominent Chicago destinations such as AMC River East, Chicago ShowPlace Icon, Davis Theater, Regal City North and more will have dozens of showings, but only on Thursdays, Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays. Currently, AMC, Alamo Drafthouse and Cinemark have tickets on sale through Nov. 5. The screenings begin Thursday at 6 p.m.

At Classic Cinemas’ 16 theaters located primarily in the Chicago suburbs, CEO Chris Johnson said they’re expecting an “extremely successful weekend,” noting that they’ve already sold about 10,000 tickets.

“That’s huge,” Johnson said. “It’s like $175,000 in sales. It’s not to the ‘Avengers’ area, but as far as a movie that’s being released in mid-October, it’s big.”

“There’s certainly an audience that either couldn’t get tickets to the concert and or went to the concert and want to relive that experience,” Johnson added.

There’s been no word yet on any possible release on streaming services.

How do I buy tickets?

At tstheerastourfilm.com , or through your local theater. Most tickets have been available to purchase for weeks, but tickets for the surprise early access showing went on sale 10 a.m. Thursday.

Tickets cost $19.89 for adults and $13.13 for seniors and children, a nod to one of Swift’s albums and lucky number, respectively.

While tickets for opening night might be sparse at some locations, Johnson said one of the biggest misconceptions about the movie is that tickets are hard to come by. Additional showtimes were added Friday and throughout this weekend “due to unprecedented demand,” with Swift saying “look what you genuinely made me do.”

“There are definitely seats available at every location because we’ve monitored the number of ticket sales and added shows when needed,” Johnson said. “Even if you were sold out, there’s the next show. There’s quite a few shows.”

Many theaters will also have tour-themed popcorn buckets and fountain drink cups on sale for souvenirs.

What should I wear?

Friendship bracelets are always in style . During the tour, making and trading handmade friendship bracelets adorned with Swift’s lyrics became a popular pastime that some are planning to carry into theaters. It’s even how NFL player Travis Kelce reportedly caught Swift’s attention.

Swift herself encouraged Eras attire and friendship bracelets, and AMC’s website says dressing in costume is “strongly encouraged.”

Peterson and his family are coming prepared when they see the movie on Friday. He said his niece is wearing a sparkly dress and boots to emulate the “Fearless” era, and his costume is inspired by the song “ 22 ? with a list of the four locations Peterson saw the concert on a sparkly shirt. He’s traveled to Mexico City, Las Vegas, Denver and Seattle to watch Swift perform.

Can I sing and dance at the shows?

Dancing and singing during the film is encouraged at AMC, according to their website . They just ask that moviegoers don’t dance on the seats or block others from viewing, safely walking or exiting the auditorium.

At Classic Cinemas, Johnson said he’s got no problem with “people coming out and having a good time.”

Will the movie break records?

The film is projected to open to at least $100 million at the domestic box office, with global sales generating even more. It’s already surpassed $100 million in advance ticket sales according to AMC, making it the highest-grossing concert film in history, a record previously held by “Justin Bieber: Never Say Never.”

Swift, the producer, circumvented Hollywood studios, making a distribution deal directly with AMC Entertainment to bring the movie to theaters. She reached an interim agreement with SAG-AFTRA to shoot the movie amid the actors’ strike. Beyoncé also made a deal with AMC to distribute her concert documentary, which comes out Dec. 1.

The Eras Tour had a sizable economic and cultural impact across the country, including Chicago, and interest in Swift is still going strong, whether she’s dancing at an awards show or watching a football game.

For fans like Peterson, the success of the movie and tour isn’t surprising. He said there’s no one he’d rather spend his money on. Beyond the fun costumes and friendship bracelets, Peterson said he’s grown up with Swift, and it almost feels like she’s one of his friends who hit it big. Her lyrics, he said, speak across generations.

“Her eras were my eras too,” he said. “My brother, who’s in the Marine Corps and served multiple tours in Iraq, goes ‘this is exactly who I want my daughter to emulate.’ She changes the industry, she is the man .”

Inaugural 'Jeopardy!' fan experience kicks off at Manhattan's Hudson Yards

WABC logo

MANHATTAN, New York -- 'Jeopardy!' is celebrating its diamond anniversary in style right here in New York City!

The iconic quiz show is kicking off its national tour with an event Friday night at the Edge in Hudson Yards.

It will feature special guest appearances, a live taping of the 'Inside Jeopardy!' podcast, and of course, a chance for guests to play 'Jeopardy!' alongside host Ken Jennings.

New York City is the perfect location to do this celebration, since it was where the original 'Jeopardy!' pilot episode was shot back in 1964.

Eyewitness News entertainment reporter Joelle Garguilo caught up with Ken Jennings ahead of the event.

"We have named the stage, the Alex Trebek Stage," Jennings said. "And the great thing about every game saying those things that he used to, is I can almost hear his voice, like when somebody misses a Daily Double, or if everybody misses the same clue. There's something Alex would usually say there, and I can hear it in my head, which is nice."

Jennings added, "He liked to talk about movies and tell jokes. I've heard him do accents. I've seen him do little bits of soft shoe, which TV viewers rarely got to enjoy a lovely man."
