The Citadel Wordmark

The Military College of South Carolina

July 6, 2024 - july 31, 2024, the citadel success institute.

CSI is a summer transitional program that helps students get a head start in preparing academically, physically, and socially for cadet life at The Citadel. CSI is scheduled for July 6, 2024 - July 31, 2024 . REGISTER

CSI Begins July 6, 2024

Get a head start in preparing academically, physically, and socially for cadet life at the citadel.

CSI (Citadel Success Institute) prepares incoming cadets for the upcoming year by supporting their transition into The Citadel. They will become familiar with the campus and student support services, the academic and physical expectations and earn college credit. Students will leave CSI with a support system of fellow cadets and Citadel professionals, in addition to an increased confidence with the military lifestyle.

The summer program lasts about a month in July with students living on campus. They will have structured days during the week, with the opportunity to explore Charleston before starting the school year. This is a great opportunity for those from out of town to get comfortable with the area before making the big move. However, the program is beneficial for all incoming cadets to make the transition from high school to the military college as seamless as possible.

( Below is the transcript from the broadcast story)

The stars of the snow, are a no show.

"It was sold out and it had been sold out for weeks," said CSI Arts and Enrichment Coordinator Jessica Williams.

The Peking Acrobats was just one of the seven Arts on Tour performances set to appear at CSI.

"It's one of actually several shows have been sold out for this season of the arts on tour."

And while many events around the Magic Valley have been canceled this week due to weather, this event was scrubbed for a different reason.

"Peking acrobats were actually traveling from China to the United States to embark on their 2024 US tour and the College of Southern Idaho just Happened to be the first stop for them on that tour. And unfortunately, there have been a delay in their travel documents for them to be able to travel over to the U.S."

Current ticket-holders will receive an email with instructions on how to get their money back and people can also call the CSI Box Office or visit in person.

Madonna's Team Responds to Lawsuit Over Late Start at Concert

Madonna ‘s team are hitting back at a new lawsuit filed against her amid her Celebration Tour .

The 65-year-old Queen of Pop was sued by two New York City concert-goers after starting one of her December shows more than two hours later than the advertised time.

Her team revealed why the show in question started late and explained how they felt about the allegations made in the lawsuit.

Keep reading to find out more…

“ Madonna ‘s just completed, sold out 2023 Celebration Tour in Europe received rave reviews,” Madonna Management and Live Nation told ET in a joint statement. “The shows opened in North America at Barclays in Brooklyn as planned, with the exception of a technical issue December 13th during soundcheck.”

They continued, adding, “This caused a delay that was well documented in press reports at the time. We intend to defend this case vigorously.”

The legend herself has not directly responded to the lawsuit. However, she has previously seemingly alluded to starting some of her shows behind schedule by saying, “A queen is never late.”

Some fellow celebrities disagreed with her , though.

Rory McIlroy wins Hero Dubai Desert Classic for record fourth time

DUBAI, United Arab Emirates — Rory McIlroy won the DP World Tour's Hero Dubai Desert Classic for a record fourth time after reeling in Cameron Young early in the final round and then holding off Adrian Meronk down the stretch to seal a one-stroke victory on Sunday.

McIlroy closed with a 2-under 70 to retain the title at a tournament he has now won more than any other event in his career. Among his 38 wins as a professional, he had also won the TOUR Championship and Wells Fargo Championship three times.

Young started the final round with a two-stroke lead but was trailing McIlroy — his playing partner in the final group — after making bogey at No. 6 for his second dropped shot of the round.

McIlroy opened up a three-shot lead by the turn after birdies at Nos. 8 and 9 but came under pressure from Meronk, who made four birdies on his back nine.

The world No. 2 walked down No. 18 leading by one shot — just like at last week's Dubai Invitational, when he was nipped by Tommy Fleetwood — but this time he didn’t lose it as he closed with a par for a 14-under winning score.

“It was one of those days where there wasn’t a ton of fireworks just because the course was so difficult,” said McIlroy, who made eight pars and a bogey on his back nine. “But I held on as best as I could and thankfully no one around the top of the leaderboard made much of a run.”

Meronk (71), recently crowned as the DP World Tour's 2023 Player of the Year, was alone in second place. Young, playing in Dubai for the first time, was third after shooting 74.

McIlroy broke a tie with South African great Ernie Els, who had also won the Hero Dubai Desert Classic three times, and has started 2024 with a second and first.

“It’s a great platform to build from,” he said. “I know I’m playing good golf.

“A couple little things still to work on,” McIlroy added, “but these weeks are great. You learn a ton from them, and obviously great to get the competition and come out on top as well.”

The ‘Eras Tour’ will pick up in Tokyo on Feb. 7 but if heading overseas doesn’t work for your busy schedule, you can also catch Tay Tay in America and Canada later this year.

From October 18 through Dec. 8, she’s set to perform 18 career-spanning sets with special guest Gracie Abrams in Miami, New Orleans, Indianapolis, Toronto and Vancouver.

At the time of publication, the lowest price we could find for tickets for her U.S. and Canada gigs was $749 before fees on Vivid Seats.

Other shows have seats starting anywhere from $800 to $1500 before fees.

Still, given that these will be Swift’s final shows — for the time being — it’s hard to put a price tag on seeing her live.

Want to go to a Swift show?

Here’s everything you need to know about seeing Taylor Swift live in the U.S. and Canada later this year.

While Swift is known for dropping a surprise song or two into her shows, the tracks stay surprisingly consistent for most gigs.

Our team has been following the ‘Eras Tour’ closely.

Over the past few months, we’ve a) spoken to a Swiftie who  shared some helpful tips  about seeing Taylor live, b)  came up with a list of all the most exciting fan trends  and c)  explained the drama  surrounding her international opener Sabrina Carpenter.

Want to see how much it cost to see Taylor in the states at the outset of the ‘Eras Tour?’ You can find that information  right here .

When Taylor returns to the States and up North, she’s only bringing one special guest along for the ride. Here’s what you need to know.

Gracie Abrams , the daughter of film director JJ Abrams and producer Katie McGrath, is a star in her own right. Her song “I miss you, I’m sorry” has upwards of 100 million streams on Spotify, she opened for  Olivia Rodrigo  on the 2022 “Sour Tour” and headlined her own tour last spring as well.

Although it will cost an arm and a leg (maybe more!) to see Swift live this year, there are much more affordable concerts you can attend this year.

Here are just five of our favorite artists you won’t want to miss live.

•  Adele

•  Olivia Rodrigo

•  Pink

•  Christina Aguilera

•  Alanis Morissette

Who else is on the road this year? Check out our list of the  50 biggest concert tours in 2024 here  to find out.

First refuelling for Russia’s Akademik Lomonosov floating NPP

!{Model.Description}

csi in tour 2023

The FNPP includes two KLT-40S reactor units. In such reactors, nuclear fuel is not replaced in the same way as in standard NPPs – partial replacement of fuel once every 12-18 months. Instead, once every few years the entire reactor core is replaced with and a full load of fresh fuel.

The KLT-40S reactor cores have a number of advantages compared with standard NPPs. For the first time, a cassette core was used, which made it possible to increase the fuel cycle to 3-3.5 years before refuelling, and also reduce by one and a half times the fuel component in the cost of the electricity produced. The operating experience of the FNPP provided the basis for the design of the new series of nuclear icebreaker reactors (series 22220). Currently, three such icebreakers have been launched.

The Akademik Lomonosov was connected to the power grid in December 2019, and put into commercial operation in May 2020.

Electricity generation from the FNPP at the end of 2023 amounted to 194 GWh. The population of Pevek is just over 4,000 people. However, the plant can potentially provide electricity to a city with a population of up to 100,000. The FNPP solved two problems. Firstly, it replaced the retiring capacities of the Bilibino Nuclear Power Plant, which has been operating since 1974, as well as the Chaunskaya Thermal Power Plant, which is more than 70 years old. It also supplies power to the main mining enterprises located in western Chukotka. In September, a 490 km 110 kilovolt power transmission line was put into operation connecting Pevek and Bilibino.

Fun facts from our Moscow Metro Tours:

From the very first days of its existence, the Moscow Metro was the object of civil defense, used as a bomb shelter, and designed as a defense for a possible attack on the Soviet Union.

At a depth of 50 to 120 meters lies the second, the coded system of Metro-2 of Moscow subway, which is equipped with everything you need, from food storage to the nuclear button.

According to some sources, the total length of Metro-2 reaches over 150 kilometers.

The Museum was opened on Sportivnaya metro station on November 6, 1967. It features the most interesting models of trains and stations.

Coffee Ring

The first scheme of Moscow Metro looked like a bunch of separate lines. Listen to a myth about Joseph Stalin and the main brown line of Moscow Metro.

Zodiac Metro

According to some astrologers, each of the 12 stops of the Moscow Ring Line corresponds to a particular sign of the zodiac and divides the city into astrological sector.

Astrologers believe that being in a particular zadiac sector of Moscow for a long time, you attract certain energy and events into your life.

Paleontological finds

Red marble walls of some of the Metro stations hide in themselves petrified inhabitants of ancient seas. Try and find some!

  • Every day each car in  Moscow metro passes  more than 600 km, which is the distance from Moscow to St. Petersburg.
  • Moscow subway system is the  5th in the intensity  of use (after the subways of Beijing, Tokyo, Seoul and Shanghai).
  • The interval in the movement of trains in rush hour is  90 seconds .
