Gardens and conservatories
Alluring and aromatic, tactile, textured and sometimes tasty, gardens offer the opportunity to connect with nature using all five senses.
Ontario’s outdoor gardens celebrate the flora and fauna of the changing seasons while indoor conservatories and botanical greenhouses showcase rare and splendid plants from around the world.
In addition, heritage gardens in Ontario are also culturally significant, representing a living legacy of by-gone eras or preserving natural Indigenous knowledge.

Botanical Gardens
Revel in nature’s most beautiful creations and discover the art of horticulture at Niagara Parks’ Botanical Gardens. Featuring 99 acres (40 hectres) of award-winning landscapes complemented by vibrant seasonal blooms and lush overflowing gardens, the gardens have been part of the ornate Niagara Garden Trail since 1990.
Every season reveals new gorgeous blooms at Botanical Gardens, particularly along the many peaceful walking trails and through the arboretum showcasing one of Canada’s finest tree collections. Indulge your senses in the aromatic herb garden or relax in one of the serene sitting areas. A visit to the rose garden–which boasts over 2,400 roses–will underline why it is one of North America’s largest and most distinguished Victorian rose gardens.
There's More
Discover the story of Niagara Parks and all of the must-see Canadian experiences found along its 56-kilometre parkway with our digital visitor guide!
Seasonal Display Beds
Find picture perfect seasonal displays in the parterre, rose, vegetable and herb gardens as well as in the Welcome Plaza. Designed by students of the Niagara Parks School of Horticulture, these stunning displays feature over 80,000 annual plants grown in the on-site greenhouse. One hundred and fifty student-designed hanging baskets can also be spotted in the gardens throughout the growing seasons.
School of Horticulture
Located on the grounds the Botanical Gardens, the Niagara Parks School of Horticulture was established in 1936 in response to a growing need for skilled gardeners to tend to Niagara Parks’ expanding parkland along the Niagara River Parkway.
Since then, the school has been growing world leaders in horticulture through a unique post-secondary experience. Students, staff and alumni with a passion for the art, science and mystery of horticulture contribute to the groundskeeping of the Botanical Gardens to welcome visitors from around the world.
Integrated Pest Management
At Niagara Parks, we’re proud of our integrated pest management approach to the maintenance of our garden collections and consciously use pest control practices with the least environmental impact. We strive to plant more disease-resistant species and remove potential for weed infestation through mechanical means. Naturally occurring biopesticides are only used in our gardens after carefully monitoring any severe threats.

Free admission but just a garden without tender loving care. While we were waiting for our bus to Niagara on the Lake, we popped by the Botanical Gardens and left after 10 minutes.
