First-Time Food Truckers Battle Along the Gulf Coast Beginning Sunday, June 30th at 8pm ET/PT on Food Network  

The Great Food Truck Race returns with an all-new route across the country’s Gulf Coast this summer with a fresh roster of aspiring food truck operators battling to make the best food on wheels to win a life-changing $50,000 grand prize. Host Tyler Florence kicks off the season welcoming nine teams to NASA Johnson Space Center in Houston for the start of the race. Each team must prove their culinary expertise, marketing savvy and selling skills in themed challenges to beat their rivals and stay in the race. In a new twist this season, the teams are divided into “Stars and Stripes” squads and the top sellers each week are awarded gold, silver and bronze medals that come with a cash bonus. The Great Food Truck Race: Games on the Gulf premieres Sunday, June 30 th at 8pm (all times ET/PT) and culminates in an action-packed finale from the renowned South Beach Wine and Food Festival in Miami on Sunday, August 4 th at 8pm.

In the two-hour season premiere, host Tyler Florence welcomes nine food trucks to the NASA Johnson Space Center in Houston where their epic nine-city road trip for $50,000 across America's Gulf Coast begins. These first-time food truck teams face daunting challenges in the hopes of reaping unprecedented rewards, including award medals that have carryover value in the next city. Tyler groups the teams into squads who must scrap for sales in an all-out selling frenzy, and the bottom two teams must face a shocker of an elimination. The race then hits Galveston, Texas where baseball all-star Justin Turner judges a Ballpark Bites challenge. Upcoming episodes include an all-out food brawl with All Elite Wrestling tag teams The Acclaimed and The Gunns in Pascagoula, Mississippi and a challenge to serve the crowds at Mardi Gras in Mobile, Alabama. In the season finale, the last two trucks standing head to the famed South Beach Food and Wine Festival in Miami where discerning Grand Tasting guests; Food Network stars Maneet Chauhan, Jeff Mauro and Aarti Sequeira ; and food influencers Owen Han and Toni Chapman help decide which truck wins the life-changing $50,000 grand prize.

The celebrity chef, who has taken Food Network on the road in his uber popular reality TV series "The Great Food Truck Race," begins this year's journey at NASA's Johnson Space Center in Houston, Texas. Season 17 premieres Sunday, June 30.

Since the reality TV cooking competition made its debut in 2010, Florida has had a lot of screentime on "The Great Food Truck Race." Over the years, there have been a few food truck teams/contestants from Florida, as well as various "stops" here in the Sunshine State .

The same is true for summer 2024: Florence and his "cheftestants" compete in Fort Myers, then end the race in Miami.

“Nothing says summer like 'The Great Food Truck Race' and this season’s first-time route across the Gulf Coast brings our trucks to places we’ve never been before,” Betsy Ayala, head of content for food at Warner Bros. Discovery, said in a news release. “Each time these talented teams roll up to a new location, it’s truly an event.”

In February 2024, Florence and a production crew for "The Great Food Truck Race" filmed an episode for the Gulf Coast season during a stop in Southwest Florida. The celebrity chef posed for photos with fans in between takes while checking in with the rival food trucks.

The Food Network show previously filmed in Fort Myers in 2019 , as well. While he was in Southwest Florida then, Florence visited local restaurants in Naples .

Set throughout the California Bay Area, Season 14 features seven food truck winners from the past returning to establish their ultimate culinary supremacy.

Due in large part to the various personalities, intense rivalries, national sightseeing tours, format changes, and special Speed Bump, Roadblock, and Pitstop challenges, The Great Food Truck Race has had its fair share of ups and downs since its inception in 2010.

Season 8 - 7.7

Dubbed the "Battle for the South," Season 8 marked the first time in series history that the trucks did not begin the race in California. Instead, the competitors began their limited race in Lousiana before touring Tuscaloosa, Nashville, Athens, and ending their race in Savannah, Georgia.

While there were plenty of challenges along the way, the short roadmap, limited episodes (six), and complete lack of Speed Bumps and Roadblocks in the rules format tended to leave viewers wanting more. In the end, BBQ truck Braised in the South from Charleston, South Carolina took home the top prize.

Season 11 - 7.8

Limited to only four episodes, Season 11 of The Great Food Truck Race was billed as the "Holiday Hustle." Set on the snowy East Coast during Christmastime, the five trucks dashed through New Hampshire, Massachusetts, Vermont, and Rhode Island. Since the previous seasons of the series are primarily geared toward road trips during the summer, the wintery season left viewers feeling a bit cold. Still, the season ranks among the top 10 due to its holiday-themed challenges such as a creative turkey dinner, cranberry and fruitcake appetizers, candy-cane dishes, and fig pudding.

Much like the Alaska season, finding customers willing to line up in the freezing cold proved much harder than anticipated. Even so, the Colorado-based team Big Stuff was able to navigate the snow like the back of their hand en route to winning the $50,000 prize money.

Season 6 - 7.8

Viewers flocked to the iconic American highway Route 66 that served as the starting place for Season 6 of The Great Food Truck Race , where seven professional food truck vendors traversed the southwest through Arizona, New Mexico, Texas, and into the midwestern cities of Tulsa, St. Louis, and Chicago. With some of the bigger personalities in show history and the reversion back to professional food truck operators in competition, this season found much more support from IMDb voters than some of the later seasons.

North Carolina-based Asian fusion team Pho-Nomenal Dumplings faced an intense showdown with the runner-up, Waffle Love, before emerging victoriously. Teammates Becca, Sophia, and Sunny became the series' first all-female winners. The highlight of the season came in week four when Pho-Nomenal Dumpling won a heated steak sandwich battle in Amarillo, Texas.

Season 5 - 8.0

California served as the starting line for Season 5 of the show, during which eight novice food trucks began in Santa Barbara and ended their long-distance race in sunny Florida. Over the seven weeks of competition, Israeli siblings Tommy and Hilla drove their truck Middle Feast across the finish line first.

The appeal for this season came via the "food truck boot camp" rules change, with each week concentrating on one specific skill set to help the amateurs become professionals. The highpoint came during the finale when the final two teams had to take airboats through the Florida Everglades and cook alligator and frog legs shortly after.

Season 1 - 8.0

The inaugural season of the series ranks in the middle of the pack, according to IMDb. Following a horseshoe-shaped route that began in Los Angeles, careened down south through New Mexico, Texas, and Lousiana, and ended up in New York, the exciting novelty of the show's road trip premise immediately won fans over.

The winning team, Grill 'Em All, also won the hearts and minds of viewers en route to victory with their loud, funny, and brash personalities. Comprised of three memorable metalheads who named their truck after Metallica's "Kill 'Em All," Joel, Matt, and Ryan faced a heated battle with the entrepreneurial runners-up, Nom Nom Truck.

Season 3 - 8.1

In Season 3, eight amateur teams covered over 3,500 miles on a grueling west-to-east road trip that began in Los Angeles and ended in Lubec, Maine. Through it all, the Korean-inspired truck Seoul Sausage turned their delicious kimchi riceballs and bulgogi-like sausages into a winning recipe. Fans loved the fun-loving personalities of these guys.

The standout moment from the season includes Seoul Sausage winning a ballpark challenge in Arkansas during week 3, where they won $500 in seed money and a special key to help them unlock a Speed Bump challenge down the road.

Season 4 - 8.2

With more of an emphasis on the racing aspect rather than the cooking element , Season 4 incentivized teams to take the "Speed Bumps" and "Truck Stops" seriously. The eight novice teams traveled cross country from San Francisco, Portland, Idaho, South Dakota, Minneapolis, St. Paul, Chicago, and up to Annapolis, Maryland.

Season 4 gained traction among viewers due to its metropolitan itinerary, with memorable moments coming in Chicago where a pizza challenge was judged by Mayor Rahm Emmanuel and a race to the U.S. Capital Building in Washington D.C. where the winner was declared.

Season 2 - 8.2

With the starting line in Sin City , it's no surprise that Season 2 of The Great Food Truck Race ranks among the top three seasons to date, per IMDb. Eight teams began in Las Vegas before moving east through Salt Lake City, Denver, Memphis, and Atlanta before ending up in Miami.

One of the main reasons the season resonated was due to the introduction of the Speed Bump challenge, which was designed to put the trucks at an unforeseen disadvantage and make the competitors think fast and adjust on the fly. Season 9 - 8.7

Set in California, Arizona, and Nevada, the "Wild West" themed Season 9 featured seven amateur food truck teams with aspirations of going professional. Fans really responded to the fun challenges, including the two-part Sonic beverage showdown won by Michigan-based team Mobile Moo Shu in their third consecutive challenge victory.

Blazing their way through Los Angeles, Las Vegas, Phoenix, and Yuma before doubling back to Coachella for a music concert and ending in Hollywood, the top prize was eventually awarded to Just Wing It, a novice chicken-wing outfit that met on Season 12 of Worst Cooks in America .

Season 10 - 9.15

Set primarily in Florida with a couple of stops in South Carolina , Season 10 is the best that The Great Food Truck Race has to offer thus far. The sunny settings and magnetic personalities of winning team NOLA Creations are the chief reasons why. Dubbed the "Summer Beach Battle," nine teams skidded through Myrtle Beach, Head Island, Daytona, Tampa, Ft. Lauderdale, and ended in picturesque Miami. The intense competition made for a compelling drama to watch.

With standout stops at such iconic venues as the Daytona Motor Speedway and Gatorama Alligator Park, NOLA Creations won three first-place finishes on their way to the ultimate winner's circle. Despite a late surge from rival truck Brunch Babes, the right team was named the victor.

About the Show

The Great Food Truck Race is headed to the Wild West, where host Tyler Florence welcomes seven teams of brand new food truck operators as they embark on the adventure of a lifetime. Just like the pioneers, they'll be using some of the West's most distinct ingredients in challenges that test their culinary skills. Each week, they'll race across the desert landscape to a new town where they'll face new challenges, cook incredible dishes and, as always, try to outsell the competition. The team that earns the least will have to walk away from the wagon trail, but the two teams that have the grit make it to the end will square off for the $50,000 prize.

Long live the Grub Truck in Moscow! My absolute favorite Mac n cheese is featured for the month (red wine and steak) and a raspberry brownie! I was the first in line with a following that the Pied Piper would envy Open 10:00-2:30 am. BEST MAC N CHEESE!! I buy it and prep it up for a few meals for the weekend. Love the college town vibe during the academic year and more of the family vibe during the summer hours!

Just order the original Mac and cheese. It is delicious and perfect. The line can be a bit long, but it is worth it. One order can probably feed two people, but I usually just order one for myself. WARNING: if you get a non-original flavor, they add a ton of the toppings and you might be overwhelmed, e.g. if you order the barbecue, there will be A LOT of barbecue sauce in your Mac and cheese. This is probably intentional and simply up to your personal taste, so consider carefully. Also watch them on Twitch.

5 Cheese Mac topped w/ Bacon

Grub truck has some of the best mac and cheese. I recommend the BBQ chicken mac and cheese. Death by garlic is also good. Their prices are very reasonable and you get a good amount of food. Also, I recommend getting there right when they open to avoid the lines. The wait for food isn't very long even if there is a line. The staff is very friendly.

Mac 'n' cheese? Delicious. They always remember customers and are super friendly and accommodating! Tacos? AMAZING. People know them for the pasta but they actually have the best tacos around. If I could give them a 10 out of 5 I would.

Best food truck in all existence of food trucks. Every time I try to get something different but the Mac'n'cheeses never ever disappoint. Still dream about the rice crispy treats with pistachios in them. Basically you haven't lived until you've experienced this food!

Great hot spot to go to if you're ever in Moscow late. john gives the best service. Is always in a great mood and serves amazing food. Recommend getting the Four Cheese with bacon but all of the food is great.

I have always been a critic of mac n cheese. I try them everywhere and found only a few that live up to my expectations. Grub Truck will be the In N Out to my Idaho visits. I will have to come get some grub. Some of the best mac n cheese put there. Try the Chipotle!

YUM, YUM, YUM! Such a fun atmosphere & the food in unmatchable! You can't go wrong with the Mac - all of them but my favorite item is the chicken tacos, just enough to satisfy a taste and not feel guilty of the rich cheese. Giving in to the guilt is also worth it, the dessert burrito too. Workers are always in a good mood & the live stream on twitch makes things interesting!

Fresh tacos, with carnes muy sabrosa to start a busy day of drinking with the in-laws while visiting Moscow. Of course it always helps to hit a taco truck/trailer on a Tuesday, and these bad boys were a buck each. Yes, $1 each in inflationary 2021. Obviously, we were not the only ones in town enjoying this opportunity. Even my MIL, who's bland Iowa taste buds wince at the thought of buttered toast, had one. Flavors were spot on, especially their adovada. A nice little snack before the taps were pulled and the shots were poured...

$1 TACO TUESDAY! Flavors: chicken, spicy marinated pork, and fried pork. Fried pork (adovada): my favorite one! It was tender and packed a lot of flavor Spicy marinated pork (carnitas): second fav! Has a sliiight kick to it Chicken: pretty dry and wouldn't order again The tacos are kinda small but for $1 each I ain't mad at it. I got 6 tacos + hot salsa for under $7! That's a college kid's dream. Definitely get the hot salsa. It amps up the flavors. There are other taco options that aren't part of $1 taco Tuesday but they're only $2 per taco so still a good price. I noticed their carne asada tacos were popular so I'm coming back to try that next and maybe a torta! There's a parking lot, outdoor seating, and they take card payment.

I go here at least one a week when I'm in Pullman, literally the best tacos!! They also have taco Tuesday which is $1 tacos!!! There is always a line, which means I am not the only one to loves this place!

A great taco truck with lots of cool stuff. They put a few different bouncy houses up the last several weeks. How awesome is that? Tacos - great. My favorite is the spicy pork. They're street style with 2 small pan fried corn tortillas, topped with meat and pico de Gallo. Chile Relleno - great vegetarian item, comes with an egg. They also have veggie tacos. Red sauce - super hot but SO good. Green sauce - less hot but doesn't seek revenge Jarritos - they have jarritos, which is a kind of traditional Mexican soda. My favorite is piña (pineapple). 10+ other different menu items such as burritos, tortas, tamales... My friend got some kind of maize cake with cheese in it the other day. Definitely worth a visit or a quick bite. Go check them out!

Chickens and the bouncy house were out today.

Mexican American born in Southern California, moved to Pullman / Moscow and have eaten all the variety of tacos on the menu and had their steak wet burrito. The tortilla they use is passable, the red wet sauce was uninteresting, the meats are mediocre and don't have a grilled taste to them, the pork adovada had a hint of the marinade that I'm use to tasting but watered down. NO extras are free, extra for salsa, carrots, no radishes, jalapeno etc. If this place operated in Orange County or Los Angeles, they would be out of business for gauging customers for extras and crappy meats, this is one hole in the wall place to avoid unless your desperate. BTW, their chile de arbol sauce is great!!!

Im a Latino coming from California to go to U of I and I was looking for some good Mexican food. So me and my girlfriend decided to try this spot since we see it all the time open and a inflatable jumpy house outside. We went on taco Tuesday which is $1.28 per taco which isn't bad. The food quality is good and what I was hoping to get from a taco spot. However the prices are really high for what they serve so unless you can a chunk to spend this is hands down the best Mexican food in town just hope the prices aren't so high.

Yummy asada tacos and lengua torta. Favorful and tasty meats with cilantro, onion, carrot, lime, and optional salsa garnish. Staff were very friendly. Outdoor seating next to this taco truck is a great place to chill and enjoy an affordable lunch!

Skowhegan Craft Brew Festival set for Saturday

SKOWHEGAN — Beer lovers from around the country are expected to head to Skowhegan on Saturday for the town’s annual Labor Day weekend brew festival.

The Skowhegan Craft Brew Festival is set to feature more than 100 Maine-made craft beers, wines, ciders and spirits from 24 beverage producers, along with local food vendors and four musical acts, according to an announcement from the event’s organizer, the nonprofit organization Main Street Skowhegan.

The festival, which began in 2016, is expected to draw people from Maine, 13 other states and Canada, according to the announcement. So far, people from as far away from Texas, Arizona and Nevada have bought tickets, the organization said.

“We’re thrilled to draw people from near and far to Skowhegan for our annual brew festival,” Kristina Cannon, president and CEO of Main Street Skowhegan, said in the statement. “Not only do events showcase our growing community and all that we have to offer visitors, but they also bring people to town who spend money at our locally owned businesses. Brew fest, in particular, brings people back again and again to our community.”

Tickets are required to attend the brew festival, and can be purchased online at skowhegancraftbrewfest.com . A $50 general admission ticket includes unlimited beverage samples from 3 to 7 p.m. and a souvenir tasting glass. “Designated driver” tickets for those who do not wish to drink alcohol are $10.

Ticket prices increase by $5 the day of the festival, so organizers suggest buying tickets by 6 p.m. Friday. Advertisement

A “VIP hour” at 2 p.m., featuring free food samples, other goodies and live entertainment, is sold out.

The brew festival is to be held along the Kennebec River in downtown Skowhegan, where the event moved last year from its previous location on Water Street .

Skowhegan Craft Brew Festival draws hundreds of beer drinkers to new location

Organizers said last year that the move was intended to help promote ongoing economic revitalization efforts along the town’s waterfront, including the planned River Park. Other events, such as the annual River Fest in August , are intended to achieve that goal, too.

With a contractor on board and the permitting process in its final stages, construction of the in-river whitewater park portion of the overall development is expected to begin in spring 2025 , Cannon said recently.

Main Street Skowhegan uses proceeds from the brew festival to support its ongoing economic development efforts, according to organizers. The event is sponsored by more than a dozen local businesses and organizations.

The festival is expected to take place no matter the weather. As of Thursday, the National Weather Service was predicting mostly cloudy skies in Skowhegan on Saturday, with high temperatures in the mid-70s, and a 50% chance of rain showers after 2 p.m.

Camp Cook-Offs and Chuckwagons

On their epic trek through the American West, Guy Fieri and his family sample Wyoming-style pizza and made-to-order chuckwagon steaks. Then, a trip to a next-level sausage factory becomes a campground cooking showdown. Plus, there's a trip to the Buffalo Bill Center of the West and a country-style buffet featuring all-you-can eat chicken and smoked beef brisket.

Food Trucks, Friends and Carnival Fun

On the final leg of their road trip through the America West, the Fieris check out food-truck pizza and ice cream, and a camp breakfast becomes a cooking battle to see who makes the best sweet and savory dishes. Plus, there's a survival contest and a campground carnival featuring Lebanese and Mediterranean food.
