Irish singer-songwriter Hozier is set to perform three sold-out shows at Dublin's 3Arena this week as part of his Unreal Unearth tour.

With over 22 billion global streams, numerous platinum album certifications, multiple award nominations and wins, Hozier is recognised as one of the foremost singer-songwriters of our generation.

The Wicklow-native, who performed at Dublin's Malahide Castle earlier this year , is now set for a trio of hometown shows this week on Tuesday (Dec. 19), Wednesday (Dec. 20) and Friday (Dec. 22), and for anyone who is heading along to the 3Arena over the coming days, we have all the info you need before the gig.

How to get there

By train/Luas:

The Luas is typically the fastest way to get to the 3Arena via public transport from the city.

If you're travelling by train to Dublin, simply board the Luas Red Line to The Point stop from either Connolly or Heuston Station.

This will helpfully take you straight to the doors of the 3Arena.

The full list of city centre stops on the Luas Red Line are here .

There are also several bus routes that take you close to the 3Arena, including the 151, which leaves you the nearest.

It runs every 10 minutes at rush hour. Get off at Castleforbes Road, the closest stop to the venue, which is just a two-minute walk from here. Full details on buses, routes and specific stops can be found at www.dublinbus.ie.

The 3Arena is roughly a 20 minutes' walk along the quays from O'Connell Street in Dublin's city centre.

From O'Connell Street, walk down the Northside Quays past the IFSC until you arrive at the indoor venue.

Driving to the 3Arena on the night isn't recommended, but if you are, there'll be limited car parking available at Point Village car park.

Support acts

Hozier will be supported by two bands across the three night run at the 3Arena.

At Tuesday and Wednesday's gigs, the opening act will be British indie rock band The Last Dinner Party, who cast their net of inspiration across artists and genres, from Kate Bush and David Bowie, glam rock and new wave, to unexpected moments of twelve-bar blues, classical overture and heavy synth breakdowns.

Singer Abigaille, guitarists Emily and Lizzie, keyboardist Aurora and bassist Georgia weave a fantasy of haunting melodies, explosive choruses, and lyrics that embrace tragedy and triumph in equal measure. At their shows, the band lead audiences through the soaring crescendos and pin-drop silences of the most debaucherous dinner parties, gathering a dedicated and growing company of attendees with every performance.

hozier tour support act

Friday's concert at the 3Arena will see Hozier supported by Irish folk duo Ye Vagabonds, comprised of brothers Brían and Diarmuid Mac Gloinn who grew up playing music together around their hometown of Carlow.

After moving to Dublin in 2012, they quickly became a staple of the live music and session scene in Ireland, playing their own original songs as well as folk songs from Ireland, Scotland, England and America.

After a chance meeting at Electric Picnic in September 2015, the brothers performed onstage with Glen Hansard, who invited them to open for him on his European tour the following October. Their debut EP Rose & Briar was released on October 7th 2015.

Since then, they have been busy touring Ireland, the UK and Europe, opening for acts such as Villagers, Roy Harper and Lisa Hannigan (whose band they played in for her Irish tour, June 2016).

in 2022 they released their third album Nine Waves again to emormouse critical acclaim.

While we expect Hozier to throw in a few surprises for his home crowd, here's the setlist from the singer \ songwriter's gig in London last Friday which gives us a strong clue to what fans can expect to hear in Dublin this week.

  • De Selby (Part 1)
  • De Selby (Part 2)
  • Jackie and Wilson

Important info

Under 16s must be accompanied by a parent or guardian over 18, who must take full responsibility for them at all times and remain with them throughout the outdoor gig.

Concertgoers should also be aware that the 3Arena has a maximum bag size limit in place of 40cm x 40cm x 20cm, and large rucksacks, luggage or oversized bags are not permitted.

Hozier announces huge Dublin gig for 2024

Anyone who missed out on tickets to see Hozier at the 3Arena this week still has a chance to see the singer live as he recently announced his biggest ever Ireland and UK headline shows.

As part of his ongoing Unreal Unearth tour, Hozier is now set to play Dublin's Marlay Park on Friday, July 5, 2024.

This will be a bigger gig than his sold-out out show at Malahide Park this summer, which has a capacity of 20,000.

Marlay Park in south Dublin can hold double that figure at its outdoor concerts.

The singer-songwriter will be supported for the outdoor summer shows next year by Alabama Shakes star Brittany Howard and US indie rock band Lord Huron.

A limited number of tickets for the Marlay Park are still available from ticketmaster.ie.

Fresh off a once-secret set for Glastonbury Festival last week, Hozier is blitzing across the music scene this summer in advance of the release of his new album. The star has been busy on the festival circuit this year, playing gigs across Europe and the US.

As part of his Unreal Earth tour, promoting the upcoming album of the same name, Hozier is in Ireland this week to bring fans that soulful guitar-man show they know and love. If you’re not lucky enough to make the gig at Malahide Castle, you can catch Hozier in Dublin again on December 19th at the 3Arena as part of his Unreal Unearth Tour (tickets are on sale on Friday, July 7th, through Ticketmaster).

So what can we expect from his outdoor Dublin concert on Friday?

When does he play?

How do I get there – and home again?

The concert entrance is about a 10-minute walk from Malahide Dart station – the organisers recommend public transport, given the likely congestion and parking problems (clampers and tow trucks will be operating) for anybody who drives to the concert. It is recommended to allow at least an extra two hours travel time to and from the venue. Make sure to plan and book your return travel in advance – it’s a long walk back to the city.

Dart, train and bus: The last Dart leaves for Dublin city centre at 12.07am. The last train leaves for Dundalk at 12.12am. Concert buses will leave from the Dublin Road for Custom House Quay, in central Dublin, after the gig from 10.30pm. You can book a return ticket (€20) in advance.

By car: Fingal County Council will be providing car parking for the concert via the Back Road. Organisers advise pre-booking parking from Marathon Coaches here for €25. Illegal parking in areas surrounding Malahide Castle and in local estates will be subject to clamping or being towed.

  • Driving from the south: Take the M50, leave the motorway at junction three (signposted M1 Belfast/Airport), continuing on to the R139. Are there any tickets left?

Yes. At the time of writing there are still tickets available to purchase at ticketmaster.ie . Buy tickets from accredited sources only.

What’s the story with security?

Under-16s must be accompanied by an adult; bring your passport, Garda age card or driving licence as evidence of your date of birth. Allow time for security checks on the way in. Bags larger than A4 size will not be permitted and all bags may be searched, and this can be time-consuming so consider going bagless for easier entry. There will be no cloakroom or storage facilities. No umbrellas, alcohol, garden furniture, selfie sticks, flares, glasses or cans, among other items, will be allowed into the event.

Can I take photographs at the concert?

Yes, but only with a smartphone or small camera. Professional cameras with a detachable lens and any other recording equipment are banned.

What’s the weather forecast?

Met Éireann is forecasting a dull, overcast and muggy day with intermittent rain. Highest temperatures of 19 degrees. Perhaps a rain jacket wouldn’t go amiss.

Hozier brings his Unreal Unearth Tour to Liverpool and will be joined by special guests The Last Dinner Party!

Show Timings

Doors Open:  6:30pm

The Last Dinner Party:  7:30pm - 8:00pm

Hozier:  8:30pm - 10:30pm

Approx finish:  10:30pm

Grammy-nominated, award-winning multi-platinum singer and songwriter, Hozier, is back for his first UK tour in four years. With over 22 billion global streams, numerous platinum album certifications, multiple award nominations and wins, Hozier is recognised as one of the foremost singer-songwriters of our generation.

After a four year hiatus Hozier released his EP “ Eat Your Young ” on St. Patrick’s Day (coincidentally his birthday). The release included all new material and featured three songs – the title track, “ All Things End ,” and “ Through Me (The Flood) .”

In May, Hozier released the anthemic rock song “ Francesca ”, introducing listeners to the theme of Dante’s ‘Nine Circles Of Hell’, which recurs throughout his new music, and is explored in greater depth on his eagerly awaited third album “Unreal Unearth”, which will be released on Friday 18th August.  Driven by the thought-provoking anthem “ Take Me To Church ”, which is now Diamond-certified in the USA, Canada, Germany and France; Hozier’s self-titled full-length debut bowed at #2 on the Billboard Top 200 (the second biggest debut album of the year) and went on to achieve triple RIAA Platinum status. It enjoyed nine weeks at number 1 in his native Ireland (including spending an incredible 441 weeks in the Irish Top 50 charts). Indeed, the album rose to no. 3 in the UK ahead of his third sell-out UK tour, while both “ Take Me To Church ”, and “ Someone New ”, were singles from the album. The follow up to Hozier’s debut album, “ Wasteland, Baby !” was released to massive critical acclaim in March 2019, entering the US Billboard Top 200 Chart at #1. The album’s 14 tracks (all original Hozier compositions) marked a major development in songwriting and subject matter. The most obvious is Hozier’s enlightened assessment of the global socio-political landscape. The multi-platinum selling album included the aforementioned single “ Nina Cried Powe r” along with singles “ Movement ”, “ Almost (Sweet music )”, and “ Dinner and Diatribes ”.

Hozier at Sounds of the City, Castlefield Bowl, Manchester – tickets, setlist, support act

It's the big gig tonight.

Daisy Jackson

Sounds of the City is back at Castlefield Bowl with a packed programme of outdoor live shows – and next on the agenda is Hozier.

Irish singer-songwriter Hozier will take to the stage in Manchester on 5 July, as part of his Unreal Unearth Tour 2023.

The Take Me To Church singer is back from a four-year hiatus, releasing EP Eat Your Young on St Patrick’s Day, which also happens to be his birthday.

His third studio album, Unreal Unearth, is due for release in August this year.

After his Castlefield Bowl gig, Hozier will embark on a further tour in December – but won’t be back in Manchester on that one.

The stage is set canal-side in Castlefield, with other headline performances from Blossoms, Two Door Cinema Club, and Bastille still to come, as well as shows from Pulp and The Lathums already finished.

Here’s everything you need to know about Hozier at Castlefield Bowl .

Who’s supporting Hozier?

Sounds of the City at Castlefield Bowl

Hozier has two support acts joining him at Castlefield Bowl tonight.

One of which will be The Teskey Brothers, an Australian blues rock band from Melbourne.

They have three albums under their belts – Half Mile Harvest, Run Home Slow and The Winding Way – and will also be doing a signing at HMV Manchester from 5pm.

Also joining Hozier is Victoria Canal, a rising star from Germany who has already supported some other big names, including JP Saxe and Emily King, on their tours.

Estimated stage times

Stage times haven’t yet been announced for Hozier, but based on The Lathums gig – which had the same number of support acts – these will be the rough times.

5.30pm – Doors and DJ 7pm – Support act one 8pm – Support act two 9pm – Hozier 11pm – Curfew

Tickets for Hozier are, sadly, totally sold out.

They were initially priced at £45 including booking fee – a bargain in today’s world of concert prices.

If you’re desperate to go, keep an eye on resale sites but make sure you’re buying from a trustworthy seller so you don’t get ripped off.

Weather forecast

Castlefield Bowl is an outdoor venue, with only a very small amount of cover by the amphitheatre seating.

The wet weather is set to mostly take a break for Hozier’s Sounds of the City gig on Wednesday night, thankfully.

Temperatures are set to peak at 18 degrees, with a low of 13 degrees, according to the Met Office .

There’s a 30% chance of light rain at 6pm, but otherwise things are looking dry if cloudy.

Expected setlist

The below is the setlist Hozier used for his gig at Piece Hall in Halifax last week.

Eat Your Young Jackie and Wilson From Eden To Be Alone Dinner & Diatribes Francesca Cherry Wine Like Real People Do All Things End Would That I Someone New Almost (Sweet Music) Angel of Small Death and the Codeine Scene Movement Take Me to Church Unknown/Nth Work Song

About Castlefield Bowl

Castlefield Bowl is an amphitheatre-style outdoor venue in the city centre.

Although all tickets are billed as unreserved standing, if you’re quick you can take a seat on the large concrete steps that curve around the stage.

Many people also take a perch up on the grassy banks at the back of the venue too.

Castlefield Bowl is located at 101 Liverpool Road in the city centre.

The closest tram stop is Deansgate-Castlefield, which is only a six-minute walk away.

You can also walk it from the major train stations, or use the 101, 197, 255, 256, 41, 50 or X50 buses.

Local rap sensation Meekz is back, if you hadn’t noticed – he burst back onto the scene last week with a surprise gig in Piccadilly Gardens.

The masked Manchester rapper is celebrating the release of his latest single Mini Me’s – and a handful of Mini Meekz posters appeared around town, pasted there by artist collective Pattern Up (then swiftly removed) last week.

Meekz continues to impress with his latest release, a track that’s quickly gaining popularity.

True to form, Meekz delivers not only sonically but visually, teaming up once again with KC Locke to create a stunning music video.

Their collaboration underscores the significance of music videos, reaffirming their lasting impact in the industry.

The video pays homage to their previous work, particularly ‘Like Me’, while also pushing boundaries with a post-apocalyptic CGI rendition of Manchester, reminiscent of scenes from GTA and Marvel movies.

This innovative approach demonstrates the remarkable synergy between Meekz and KC Locke, marking a new pinnacle in their collaborative efforts.

Following the premiere, Meekz treated fans to a memorable performance in Piccadilly Gardens, where he made a grand entrance by gifting miniature Air Max 95’s to his fans before taking the stage atop a large storage container.

Meekz's 'Mini Me's' posters popped up around Manchester last week. Credit: Supplied, patternup.pu

I had the opportunity to speak with Meekz after the premiere, where he shared insights into his upcoming tape, ‘Tru’, slated for release on 24 May.

Additionally, he hinted at exclusive news related to GTA/GTA 6, leaving fans eagerly anticipating his future endeavours.

It’s clear that Meekz continues to innovate and redefine the game with each new project, and we’re excited to see what he has in store next.

KC Locke said: “In the time that the mainstream media is writing articles about the decline of the music video industry, swords and eagles are here to make a stand and show not only are music videos here to stay but they are more important than ever.

“This is a testament to community, bound by a shared vision, we rise and rise again, together, for the culture.”

We’ve got a treat for you – a rare chance to try and get yourself tickets to see Taylor Swift live in concert, on the European leg of The Eras Tour.

The enormous tour is already the highest-grossing the world has ever seen, worth more than $1 billion.

Taylor Swift’s mammoth three-and-a-quarter hour live show has driven so much demand for tickets, ticketing platforms had to change their usual models so their websites didn’t crash.

These tickets are gold dust – but now we’ve got a couple of VIP ones up for grabs, completely free.

The Manc has teamed up with the AO Arena and its brand-new members-only restaurant and bar The Mezz for huge giveaway.

The grand prize is an all-expenses paid trip to see Taylor Swift: The Eras Tour in Stockholm.

It includes two VIP tickets to the show itself on Saturday 18 May, plus two return flights to to Stockholm from Manchester, and accommodation for two at the Quality Friends Hotel in Stockholm.

While you’re at the show at the Friends Arena, you’ll have a £250 bar tab to enjoy.

And when you return home to Manchester, your new VIP lifestyle will continue, with two annual passes to The Mezz for the rest of the year.

That gets you access to The Mezz’s incredible restaurant space – where the menu is designed by Michelin chefs Simon Rogan and Tom Barnes – and huge exclusive bar area.

And then you can enter the AO Arena itself through The Mezz’s designated doors to watch any show you fancy from the best seats in the house.

All you need to do to win is head to our Instagram page here or click on the post at the end of this article.

Make sure you’re following the AO Arena , The Mezz , The Manc , and The Hoot Leeds on Instagram.

Tag who you’d take with you on this once-in-a-lifetime trip in the comments, then share to your story for an extra chance to win (don’t forget to tag us!).

The competition for Taylor Swift tickets ends on Monday 22 April at 23.59.

Good luck swifties!

Andrew Hozier-Byrne grew up with music as the son of a blues musician and joined his first band at the age of 15. In 2012, Hozier began a solo career and released his debut single Take Me to Church a year later. The song reached number 2 in the Irish singles charts; it also attracted a lot of attention on the internet, partly because of the video for the song, which puts homophobia on film. While he released two more singles in Ireland, From Eden and Sedated, in spring and summer 2014 respectively, both of which reached the top 3 in the charts, the international release of Take Me to Church was being prepared. In the USA, first the EP and later the song were placed in the respective charts and it also reached the top 5 in Germany and many other European countries, reaching number one in Austria, Switzerland, Flanders and Sweden.

With over 22 billion streams worldwide, numerous platinum album certifications, multiple award nominations and wins, Hozier is considered one of the most important singer-songwriters of our generation.

This fall, Irish singer-songwriter Hozier is hitting the road for a full U.S. tour — his first outing post-pandemic. Following a handful of warmup dates at smaller venues stateside and overseas, his Unreal Unearth tour (in support of his long-awaited third album, of the same name, released Aug. 18) will bring him and his new backing band to iconic venues from coast to coast for some of his biggest shows to date.

Hozier Heading for Debut U.K. No. 1 With ‘Unreal Unearth’

Expanding his show (and setlist), trending on billboard, celebrating his heritage.

“This is the first time that I’ll be singing songs in the Irish language or singing parts of songs that are in Irish Gaelic. So I’m really excited to [play] Madison Square Garden or Hollywood Bowl, and sing in Gaeilge [the Irish language]… and watch as, hopefully, concertgoers and fans learn those lines and maybe even sing it with me.”

Fawning Over His Opening Act

“I’ve always been a huge fan of Madison Cunningham — how astoundingly skillful she is on her instrument, and inventive. I think she represents one of the most talented creative forces of our generation. I’m honored she’s on these shows and that I get to hear her music every night and watch her do her thing.”

This story originally appeared in the Aug. 26, 2023, issue of  Billboard.

2024's Most Anticipated World Tours

ALBAWABA - 2024 will apparently be another year filled with unforgettable performances from some of the industry's biggest names. The new year promises even more concerts, tours, festivals, and events for music fans everywhere, regardless of genre.

Taylor Swift's Eras Tour

Taylor Swift's Eras Tour, her sixth headlining tour, promises to take fans on a trip through all of her musical eras, including Fearless, Lover, Evermore, 1989, Speak Now, Reputation, and many more albums that Swifties, her fanbase name, absolutely adore.

After touring North and Latin America in 2023, she plans to continue across Asia, Europe, and Australia in 2024 before returning to the United States for the tour's second leg in October.

The tour, which includes 152 events across five continents, began on March 17, 2023, in Glendale, Arizona, and will conclude on December 8, 2024, in Vancouver, Canada. With a global cultural effect, the Eras Tour became the first to generate more than $1 billion in revenue, making it the highest-grossing tour of all time.

Drake is on the road again, but this time with J. Cole. The new tour will feature his eighth studio album, For All the Dogs. It follows his and 21 Savage's co-headlining It's All a Blue Tour in 2023, which will promote their collaboration album, Her Loss, with 56 gigs across North America.

The tour began on July 5, 2023, in Chicago and will conclude on April 5, 2024, in Newark, New Jersey, with 72 shows across the United States and Canada. This is Drake's first North American tour in five years.

On November 13, 2023, Drake announced a second American leg of the tour, co-headlined by J. Cole and named It's All a Blur Tour - Big as the What?. Lil Durk was then revealed as the second leg's opening act, with the rest of the tour beginning on February 7.

Hozier's Unreal Unearth Tour

In 2024, Hozier will extend his Unreal Unearth Tour with more stops in North and Latin America. Due to high demand in the United States and Canada, Hozier has added 14 extra concerts to his most extended headlining engagement in North America, The Unreal Unearth Tour, kicking off an incredibly important touring year for the award-winning, RIAA-Diamond certified singer/songwriter.

Hozier's Unreal Unearth Tour, including special guest Allison Russell, will stop by Pine Knob Music Theatre on Friday, May 31 at 8 p.m. The Pine Knob Music Theatre is sponsored by Proud Partners United Wholesale Mortgage, Trinity Health, and Ally.

Metallica's latest tour in support of the band's eleventh studio album, 72 Seasons, will continue into the new year, with stops in Europe and North America. Throughout the tour, the heavy metal band will perform two nights in each location, with two entirely different setlists and opening acts for each No Repeat Weekend.

The tour was announced on November 28, 2022, after the release of the album's first song, "Lux Æterna". The tour began on April 27, 2023, in Amsterdam and will conclude on September 29, 2024, in Mexico City. Along with an improved stage design that moves the "Snake Pit" to the center stage, the tour will include two or more performances in each location.

Coldplay's Music of the Spheres World Tour

In support of the band’s ninth studio album, Music of the Spheres, British Rock band Coldplay continues their travels across the globe with 165 shows performed in total by the end of the tour, with stops in Asia, Europe and New Zealand in 2024.

The Music of the Spheres World Tourwas announced on October 14, 2021, and would support their ninth studio album, Music of the Spheres, marking their comeback to live concerts following the COVID-19 pandemic.

The band did not tour in support of their previous album, Everyday Life (2019), since they intended to begin an environmentally friendly travel approach.

With a global cultural impact, the Music of the Spheres World Tour surpassed $810.9 million in revenue from 7.66 million tickets across 132 dates, making it the third-highest-grossing and second-most attended tour of all time.
