Fresh off the announcement of Big Mouth’s forthcoming seventh season — which is set to star Megan Thee Stallion — comedian, voice actor, and writer John Mulaney has revealed a slew of new 2023 tour dates.

Fans can begin purchasing tickets for Mulaney’s new shows on Wednesday, Sept. 27 through an artist presale, with additional presales running throughout the week ahead of the general onsale — which will begin on Friday, Sept. 29 at 10 a.m. local time on the official Ticketmaster website.

Baby J , Mulaney’s latest standup special ,  debuted in April and earned him a pair of Emmy nominations: outstanding variety special (pre-recorded) and outstanding writing for a variety special.   He has won two Emmys for his work on Saturday Night Live and John Mulaney: Kid Gorgeous at Radio City . In 2018, Kid Gorgeous at Radio City peaked at No. 2 on Comedy Albums , becoming Mulaney’s third of four consecutive top five entries on the chart. The set also became his first to enter Top Album Sales (No. 96).

John Mulaney is going back on the road. The Emmy-winning comedian and Live Nation announced Tuesday that he’ll be heading out on a solo tour with a new show.

John Mulaney In Concert kicks off on November 2 at the Ulster Performing Arts Center in Kingston, NY with stops across the U.S. in Columbus, OH; New Orleans, LA; Tampa, FL and more before wrapping up in Phoenix, AZ at Arizona Financial Theatre on New Year’s Eve.

Mulaney first became known for his work as a writer on  Saturday Night Live , where he co-created with Bill Hader the Stefon character. He also was the creator and star of the short-lived semi autobiographical Fox sitcom  Mulaney . He recently voiced the Jack Horner character in the Oscar-nominated animated feature  Puss in Boots: The Last Wish.  He also voiced Andrew Glouberman in the Netflix original animated series  Big Mouth , among other credits.

He has written for IFC’s Documentary Now! and Netflix’s Big Mouth, on which he voices the character of Andrew. John will star in the new reboot of Chip ‘n Dale: Rescue Rangers on Disney Plus this Spring opposite Andy Samberg. 

He’s also starred on Broadway in the runaway hit written and performed alongside Nick Kroll in Oh, Hello On Broadway.  The duo have since release a Netflix special of the same name, as well as Oh, Hello: The P’dcast, based off their characters Gil Faizon and George St. Geegland. 

In December 2019, the critically acclaimed and Emmy nominated musical variety special  John Mulaney & The Sack Lunch Bunch debuted on Netflix. It was recently announced that festivities will continue with a pair of holiday themed Sack Lunch Bunch specials coming to Comedy Central in the near future.

John Mulaney Announces 18-Date Headlining Comedy Tour With a ‘No Phone’ Policy

John Mulaney is gearing up for a new headlining tour kicking off this November. 

The comedian announced his John Mulaney: In Concert! tour on Instagram Tuesday, sharing the 18-date schedule with his followers. It kicks off on Nov. 2 in Kingston, New York, and wraps in Phoenix, Ariz., on New Year's Eve. 

Though the former Saturday Night Live writer didn't give any insight into what fans can expect during his show, many followers hope that the title of the tour means they'll be able to hear Mulaney sing during his performance.

"I’m assuming by this wording that you will be singing and I will accept nothing less," wrote one Instagram user, while another added, "Obviously very interested cause it's John, but also very much need to know what 'In Concert' means in this context so I know what to expect."

The standup tour will also have a no phone and smartwatch policy and will require attendees to secure their belongings in Yondr pouches, according to Billboard . 

Mulaney's forthcoming tour comes just after he announced comedy shows with longtime pals and fellow comedians, Pete Davidson and Jon Stewart . 

During Mulaney's most recent Netflix standup special, Baby J , he revealed that Davidson was one of the first people to call him amid his stints in rehab in 2020 and 2021.

Following a brief run of shows alongside Pete Davidson and Jon Stewart last month, John Mulaney has announced a new comedy tour to kick off in November.

Titled “John Mulaney in Concert,” the solo show kicks off on Nov. 2 at the Ulster Performing Arts Center in Kingston, NY, making stops across the U.S. in Columbus, Ohio; New Orleans, La.; Tampa, Fla., and more before wrapping up in Phoenix, Ariz., at Arizona Financial Theatre on New Years Eve.

John Mulaney: From Scratch comes to United Center for THREE SHOWS on July 14,15 & 16!

John Mulaney is a two-time Emmy and WGA award-winning writer, actor, and comedian. 

Currently, Mulaney’s 2021-2022 John Mulaney: From Scratch tour has sold out massive venues around North America from Madison Square Garden multiple times to the Hollywood Bowl and he continues to add more shows. 

In 2018, John Mulaney traveled the United States with sold out Kid Gorgeous tour, which was later released as a Netflix stand-up special and won the Emmy for Outstanding Writing in a Variety Special; In 2015, he released The Comeback Kid , also a Netflix original, which The AV Club called the “best hour of his career;” In 2012, his Comedy Central special New In Town had Ken Tucker of Entertainment Weekly hailing him as “one of the best stand-up comics alive.”

John Mulaney has been invited to host Saturday Night Live five times. He began writing for SNL in 2008 and created memorable characters such as ‘Stefon’ with Bill Hader and appeared as a “Weekend Update” correspondent. He has written for IFC’s Documentary Now! and Netflix’s Big Mouth , on which he voices the character of Andrew. In December 2019, the critically acclaimed and Emmy nominated musical variety special  John Mulaney & The Sack Lunch Bunch debuted on Netflix.

 He’s also starred on Broadway in the runaway hit written and performed alongside Nick Kroll in Oh, Hello On Broadway.  The duo have since release a Netflix special of the same name, as well as Oh, Hello: The P’dcast , based off their characters Gil Faizon and George St. Geegland.

Take the Orange, Green, Purple, or Brown lines to Madison. Take #20 Madison buses west.

To the United Center : The #19 United Center Express Bus runs on game days. Service begins 90 minutes prior to game time, runs every 10 minutes until 30 minutes until start of game. Board at stops starting southbound on Michigan and Randolph. Connections are made with Metra trains at Millennium Station, Ogilvie Center and Union Station. The #20 Madison Bus travels west on Madison Street, starting downtown at Wabash Street and runs every few minutes, making all stops to the United Center.

From the United Center : The #19 United Center Express and the #20 Madison buses run every few minutes, departing from the eastbound side of Madison Street. Buses make all stops.

Suites Parking

Two reserved parking passes will be valid in lots C and K. The other two reserved parking passes will be for parking in lots A, B, D, or L. Holders of these passes will be directed to A, B, D, or L lots by traffic police and parking attendants based on traffic conditions. Parking passes are good for one space each. All parking passes are mobile entry only.

For all special events, each Executive Suite Holder will receive two complimentary parking passes per event ordered. These two passes will be for reserved parking located in lots C and K. In addition, Executive Suite Holders will also receive the option to purchase four additional parking passes in lots C and K for special events.

Suite Holder parking passes are also valid for buses or limousines under specific guidelines.

Lexus Club Parking

Lexus Club Seat members have reserved parking in fenced, well-lit and clearly marked parking lots adjacent to the United Center for all Blackhawks or Bulls preseason, regular season and playoff games. All Lexus Club members who purchase tickets to other events may also purchase one preferred parking pass (in lot C or K) for such events. Details on how to obtain parking for other events are included with the fax transmission announcing each event.

Lexus Club Seat members with two to four tickets receive a complimentary, reserved parking space in a closed-in, paved lot for all Blackhawks or Bulls preseason, regular season and playoff games. Lexus Club Seat members with five seats or more will be provided with two parking passes.

What is the Uber Zone (Lot E) at the United Center? To increase and streamline the fan experience for guests who take Uber to and from the United Center, the new Uber Zone is located at the corner of Madison Street and Wood Street (Lot E) and will combine the three former Uber locations around the arena. Traffic leading to the three prior Uber pickup locations 1) Zone A, previously located on Wood Street & Washington Blvd. near Lot A, 2) Zone D, previously located on Monroe Street & S. Paulina Street near Lot D and 3) Zone F, previously located on Monroe Street & Seeley Ave. near Lot F will now be directed towards the one new Uber Zone in Lot E.

What is the location of the Uber Zone? The new Uber Zone at the United Center is located on the corner of Madison Street and Wood Street. Fans will enter and exit through the sidewalk entrance located on Madison Street and cars will enter the lot by turning into the Uber Zone from Madison Street. Cars will exit on Warren Blvd.

What are the hours of operation? On event days, the Uber Zone is open two hours prior to games, concerts and events and will remain open up to one hour after each event. On non-event days, the Uber Zone will be closed and Uber rides will be dropped off near the corner of Madison Street and Wood Street outside of the Uber Zone.

What is the pickup process for fans?

• Using the Uber app, fans inside the United Center will call an Uber ride.
• Guests will then head to the new Uber Zone located at the corner of Madison Street and Wood Street in front of the United Center.
• When arriving, fans will show the Uber attendant the lane number their driver is in.
• Fans will be shown the location where their Uber vehicle is located to start their next journey.

What is the dropoff process for fans? When Uber drivers arrive with guests at the United Center, they will be instructed to pull into the Uber Zone from the Madison Street side to drop off fans. Once exiting the vehicle, guests will walk out of the main entrance located on the corner of Madison Street and Wood Street. Guests can cross the street to the United Center and are encouraged to enter through the East Atrium.

John Mulaney’s new tour and his fall from grace

Comedian and former SNL writer John Mulaney spent a week in Atlanta, GA from Sept. 16 through Sept. 22 performing nine different sold out shows between the Coca-Cola Roxy and the Tabernacle venues. Mulaney’s “From Scratch” tour was presented on the coattails of what can only be described as quite the eventful year for the stand-up comedian.

The 39 year old — fresh out of a divorce from his seven year marriage, a visit to rehab for alcohol and drug addiction, and an announcement of a child with brand new lover Olivia Munn (“X-Men: Apocalypse”) — came on stage in his usual suit and tie attire. While Mulaney tried to play the stage as the old squeaky clean, put together version of himself we are used to seeing in his Netflix specials, a few minutes into the set made it very clear that the John Mulaney standing in front of the crowd was a changed man.

Sauntering onto the stage of the Roxy, Mulaney set the tone for the night by pleading with the audience to buy his merchandise out in the lobby, including a shirt with the phrase “I saw him right after he got outta rehab” emblazoned on the chest. This shirt design signaled what everyone was there for: to revel in the chaotic details of the past year of Mulaney’s life.

Mulaney officially opened the performance by addressing his most recent controversy, which was the announcement of his incoming child with Munn during an intimate interview on “Late Night with Seth Myers.” He poked fun at the media’s reactions to the accelerated timeline of his relationship with Munn, by saying “you know you’re problematic when you tell people you’re having a baby and the reactions are mixed” and mentioning that the kids like Bo Burnham better now because he is “less problematic.”

The rest of the set went on to describe the details of his star-studded hybrid intervention that took place in a friend’s apartment, with several of Mulaney’s west coast friends tuning in over Zoom. Dubbing it the “‘We Are the World’ of alternative comedians over 30” Mulaney explained how the event went down and his subsequent 60 day trip to a rehabilitation center in Pennsylvania.

While it was to be expected that Mulaney’s struggles with addiction would be addressed in the set, no one anticipated that it would dominate the theme of every joke of the night. The confident, spunky Mulaney that the world was used to seeing was no longer detectable under this new comedian who spent part of the set explaining to a thirteen year old in front of the crowd how he started drinking at the age of five due to his father’s “European” stance on drinking.

As the performance went on, it was clear that Mulaney was using the stage as his way of processing his past year. One of the most sobering moments was when Mulaney pulled the facade down and expressed how thankful he was that he was able to be on stage again with an audience.

To say Mulaney has some stuff to work through would be an understatement. His insecurities, stemming from his fall from grace as America’s poster boy of on demand comedic relief, are heavily apparent through the bombardment of self-deprecating jokes. Mulaney knows he is public enemy number one now, due to his suspected infidelity throughout the end of his marriage to his ex-wife and subsequent relationship with Munn (an incredibly problematic character of her own due to past fatphobic, homophobic and generally terrible statements).

At the end of the day, Mulaney profits off of something that only comedians can really profit off of, and that is his depiction of his rock bottom moments over the past year. Whether Mulaney’s situation speaks more to the morbid nature of good stand up comedy or the shamelessness of the audiences that enjoy laughing about the worse parts of someone’s life is up for debate. In any other profession, Mulaney would be ripped off of public appearances and shoved to the bottom of press lists everywhere in order to recuperate from such a slash to his image, but because he is able to craft jokes around his struggles, he has sold out shows across the country and is once again rising to the top as America’s favorite comedian.

MILWAUKEE (February 22, 2022) – Today, award-winning comedian and writer John Mulaney announced 16 additional shows on the second leg of his John Mulaney: From Scratch tour, produced by Live Nation, including a stop at Fiserv Forum on Saturday, August 20. This latest announcement follows the addition of a third show, due to popular demand, in both New York and Chicago. Mulaney is returning to host Saturday Night Live for the fifth time on Saturday, February 26.

“John Mulaney in Concert” at the Bryce Jordan Center review

Dec. 3, 2024, at the Bryce Jordan Center, John Mulaney returned for his second performance in Happy Valley.

This is the comedian’s fifth major comedy tour in the last few years. “John Mulaney in Concert” followed “From Scratch," which was renamed “Baby J” when the special was put on Netflix.

Just to clarify, there was no singing. "In Concert" did not mean, what many thought it potentially could mean, comedy in song form.

“From Scratch” was performed last September in the same arena, and State College was ready for Mulaney’s return.

Mulaney was introduced by his opener, Langston Kerman, as a 6-foot man from Chicago. He acknowledges he is a basic white man, but what sets him apart is his incredible humor.

Before Mulaney took the stage, Kerman got the crowd warmed up with anecdotes from his former teaching days and how he wanted to kill his past students, specifically Edna, who laughed at his poem.

Along with that, he shared some raunchy info about things he has done to his wife and that he is running his mother-in-law's dating apps.

First thing in the morning, he flirts with old men.

Mulaney's portion of the show started with a bang. He shared about a Halloween party at age five where he was almost kidnapped.

Throughout the show, he lacked transitions, even at the beginning. “I hope you all had a good Halloween,” he said, followed by an explanation of how he knows that was a few months ago but has no good way to transition into this story.

Basically, in the 80s there was a big movement of using safe words when people who were not family would pick up children from school.

At this school party, where Mulaney was notably dressed up as a Ghostbuster, a man approached him and said he was picking him up and said “care bears” instead of the Mulaney family's safe word, “Gonzo."

What this story taught fans was that Mulaney has been hilarious and vulnerable since the beginning.

From there on the show only got darker. He jumped around from topics like wishing older relatives were dead to abusive fathers and his “Shark Tank” idea.

Mulaney shared about the AA group he is a part of, and how many of his acquaintances in this program have experienced physical abuse from their parents.

His idea is that people could hire him to go to their elderly parents' home and punch their dad in the face for a fee.

This along with some of his other touchy jokes was interesting to hear, but what was more interesting was seeing where this landed with audience members.

Some people laughed a little too hard when he wished his parents were already dead.

An interesting perspective he had was that anyone over the age of 70 should be required to join the military to make themselves useful.

Much of his content was delivered with a somewhat derogatory demeanor that he continued to explain was not his intention.

Cameron, from the front row, is a 14-year-old who probably was brought to this by his parents. Mulaney interacted with him at the beginning and middle of the show.

To be honest, Cameron gave very little for Mulaney to work with. He talked about the teachers at school he did and did not like. Mulaney ran with this and embarked on a rant about how teachers have the worst jobs ever.

All the Penn State education majors in the crowd tensed up.

Shockingly, the arena was not close to being sold out. The floor was full but the stadium seats lining the sides were not full.

Along with that, it was surprising how many older adults were in attendance.

During a particular bit at the end of his act, a few straight white couples began to leave when he shared about the gay bus driver he had on his last tour.

Leaving to avoid traffic? Leaving because they were offended? Hard to say.

The most optimistic part of the show was when Mulaney shared about his two-year-old son, Malcolm.

He shared about precious moments they had playing baseball in the front yard at five in the morning.

Along with that, he wrote about how he is mentally the same as his son in the way that he doesn't understand how dinosaurs came to be, and doesn’t know why the moon is in the sky during the daytime sometimes.

Very relatable and understandable.

All in all, Mulaney is still the same comedian fans know and love, but with a smaller filter and humor that is one shade darker.

Mulaney is always good for a laugh. Fans hope to see him in State College again, or as he said multiple times “College Park."

John Mulaney is a two-time Emmy and WGA award-winning writer, actor, and comedian. 

Mulaney can be seen in his latest Netflix stand up special, BABY J. Released in April 2023, Mulaney converts his personal turmoil into comedic brilliance, which earned him 2023  Emmy nominations in Outstanding Variety Special (Pre-Recorded) and Outstanding Writing For A Variety Special.  On tour,  he has sold out massive venues around North America from Madison Square Garden multiple times to the Hollywood Bowl. His 2023 tour dates have included shows across US, Europe and Australia. 

In 2018, John Mulaney traveled the United States with sold out Kid Gorgeous tour, which was later released as a Netflix stand-up special and won the Emmy for Outstanding Writing in a Variety Special; In 2015, he released The Comeback Kid, also a Netflix original, which The AV Club called the “best hour of his career;” In 2012, his Comedy Central special New In Town had Ken Tucker of Entertainment Weekly hailing him as “one of the best stand-up comics alive.” 

John Mulaney has been invited to host Saturday Night Live five times. He began writing for SNL in 2008 and created memorable characters such as ‘Stefon’ with Bill Hader and appeared as a “Weekend Update” correspondent. He has written for IFC’s Documentary Now! and Netflix’s Big Mouth, on which he voices the character of Andrew. In December 2019, the critically acclaimed and Emmy nominated musical variety special  John Mulaney & The Sack Lunch Bunch debuted on Netflix.

He’s also starred on Broadway in the runaway hit written and performed alongside Nick Kroll in Oh, Hello On Broadway.  The duo has since released a Netflix special of the same name, as well as Oh, Hello: The P’dcast, based off their characters Gil Faizon and George St. Geegland.
