Guide to Kalsubai Trek

Kalsubai – ‘the everest of maharashtra’..

Kalsubai is Maharashtra’s highest peak. Standing at a staggering height of 5400 ft. above sea level; it offers stunning views of the Sahyadri ranges and lush green cover surrounding the mountain. Kalsubai is one of the most popular trekking destinations in Maharashtra. The trek is steep in places but is helped immensely by the good infrastructure in place for the trek, making it accessible for inexperienced trekkers as well. The mountain itself dates back to the Cenozoic Era, composed mostly of solidified flood basalt. Kalsubai is a great spot for star gazers and campers as well.

Nestled amongst the pristine Sahyadri ranges, the Kalsubai trek is a blend of rocky patches and steep vertical hill slopes. The peak gives an excellent view of various forts such as Kulang, Madan, Alang forts. We recommend this place as a one-day trek , but incase an overnight journey is being planned, one can stay at Bhandardara which is approx 16-17 km away from Bari Village. If you are feeling a bit more adventurous, pitch your tent on top of the hill at a suitable place to camp. There are many travel agencies which conduct trek events at this place. But since the route is pretty straightforward and well laid-out, going without a guide or group is not much of an issue. For details about accommodation at Bhandardara, refer to our article on this beautiful location here

WHAT TO SEE

-The fun-filled trek route consisting of meadows, flowers and streams and the sense of achievement attained after climbing this peak; makes it one of the most sought after treks in Maharashtra.

Read on to know more about the trek itself:

BEST TIME TO VISIT

MONSOONS :   GO FOR : THE VIEW OF LUSH GREEN HILLS AND GORGING WATERFALLS

As the monsoon showers begin, a gorgeous landscape filled with cascades and greenery spreads around the mountain. Expect floating clouds to accompany you in cool, misty weather, making trekking a delightful experience. The months from July to September are suitable to enjoy the highlights of the monsoon season.

WINTER :  GO FOR : FLOWER TREKS AND NIGHT TREKS

-There is a dramatic change in the landscape at Kalsubai after the monsoons as the flowers of different varieties blossom and attract various species of drangon flies, bees and butterflies that are attracted to their sweet nectar. In the winters, snakes and lizards can be spotted sun-bathing near the ladders often.

– The meadows bursting with flowers in bloom make for a splendid day trek-route and activities such as stargazing and Moonlight treks attract a large number of travelers to Kalsubai in the Winter. The months from October to February are suitable to enjoy the mesmerizing view of the  night skies and beautiful sunrises atop the hill.

Both Vagabond Experiences and Ajay Singh from the Adventures Club Pune recommend the night trekking experience while climbing Kalsubai peak.

“As there is hardly any forest cover on the Kalsubai Trek, the Moonlit sky and night trekking makes for a fun experience as you can avoid the heat,” states Shannon Fernandes.  “In comparison to other treks, there is a clear laid out path and staircase to climb and so there isn’t much of a risk to trek at night.”

HOW TO GET THERE

MUMBAI TO BARI

– Located at a distance of approx 150 KM from Mumbai, it takes 2-3 hours to reach the village of Bari, which is the base of the trek. From a convenience point of view, it is highly recommended to take the road instead of the train. -The best route from Mumbai to Kalsubai is: Mumbai > Kalyan >Ghatgar>Bhandardara> Bari.

  PUNE TO BARI

-Located at a distance of 180 KM from Pune , it takes 4-5 hours to reach Bari village. -The best route from Pune to Kalsubai is : Pune >Sangamner ->Rajur>Bhandardara> Bari.

BY PUBLIC TRANSPORT  :

– Kasara and Igatpuri are the closest stations to Bari village. While Kasara is 50 KM away from Bari, Igatpuri is approximately 30 KM away from Bari.

-One can either board trains such as the  Mahanagri Express, Nandigram Express train, Kolkata Mail, Howrah Mail from CST to Igatpuri or take a Local train to Kasara.

– Both Igatpuri and Kasara Station have private vehicles and buses regularly plying to Bhandardara, Pune and Akole; all of which stop by Bari. The buses start as early as 5am from Igatpuri Station.

TREKKING AT KALSUBAI

TIME REQUIRED FOR TREK   :  5-6 hours.

DIFFICULTY LEVEL :  EASY TO MEDIUM.

-Although a long trek, there are stairs which continue till the top of the peak. The metal ladder which is in good condition has been placed in rough patches which might be difficult to climb. Thus, making it quite accessible to beginner trekkers.

The trek route begins at Bari, which is the base village. There is a small temple which is 15 minutes away from the start of the trek route. People who can’t climb up till the peak take the blessings of the deity at this Kalsubai temple. There are patches of shade at frequent intervals which can be used to rest and enjoy the breeze which gushes through the mountain route often. A word of advice though – opt for a night trek (especially in Summer) or begin the journey as early as possible in the morning; as the scorching heat tends to dehydrate and tire the trekkers on what is a long trek route to the peak. Fortunately, there are little stalls serving buttermilk and lemon juice at various places on the route, which leave one feeling refreshed and energized.

For breakfast and lunch, you can head to this place called Kalsubai Tea Centre And Dharmaveer Lunch Home which serves tourists. snacks and meals near the base Village. In case you need details about their menu and location, here is their Contact no : 099234 42273

Camping at the peak is possible and a very enjoyable experience. If you are planning an overnight camp, you can carry your own tents and pitch them at a suitable corner on the summit. Typically, you will find clusters of tents at and around the peak during peak seasons.

Do note though, that there is no washroom facility or toilet at the top of the mountain. There is a washroom located only at the base village to freshen up.

Apart from the camping option, Hotel Trek Kalsubai is an alternative for a more comfortable stay. Not only does this hotel provide accommodation at the base village, but it also provides trekking and camping facilities like guides, tents, etc for the Kalsubai trail. Here is their Contact no : 083903 74971

Nights at the top of the mountain can get quite chilly and so carrying a jacket or blanket to wrap yourself with warmth is quite a must. While the temperature during the day ranges from 35°C to 28°C, it can dip as low as 12°C to 15°C at night.

WHAT TO PACK

The Kalsubai trek can be long and arduous, so it’s best to be prepared and carry the right gear. At the same time, overpacking leading to a heavy load on your shoulders can be counterproductive. So choose your gear well and ensure that it is lightweight, portable where possible. Here are some suggestions:

  • Backpack: Ideal size would be 20-45 liters. Make sure it has a good carrying system with adequate padding and ideally a chest strap. We recommend the the Tatonka Pyrox 45 lit as top of the line trekking backpacks. This should have enough space for you to load up your tent and sleeping bag as well. For a day trek, even a good quality daypack/school bag will work – such as the  Deuter Futura 32 lit
  • Shoes: Many people are seen undertaking a trek in flaoters etc. This will increase the risk of slipping significantly, especially during monsoons. We strongly recommend basic hiking or (trail) running shoes.
  • Camera: Ideally a point and shoot with good zoom or a 360* camera , for capturing the scenic locations and/or Binoculars (one within a large group is enough)
  • 2L Water Bottle per person
  • Sweatshirt ( During winters)
  • Torch / Headlamp , especially for night treks
  • Dry Snacks like biscuits, wafers or nutty bars.
  • Cap/ sunglasses
  • Raincoat/ Poncho ( During Monsoons)
  • Power Banks for charging electronic devices
  • Hiking pole , especially if you have weak knees

If you are camping, you will also additionally need the following:

  • A camping kit such as this or the following separately
  • Tent (waterproof for monsoons)
  • Sleeping bags (10* in winter, 20* in monsoon)
  • Tent light/ lantern
  • Peebuddy for women

SAFETY AND SECURITY

-The rocky patches and metal staircases often get slippery during monsoons and thus, some caution should be exercised while trekking. Invest in a sturdy pair of shoes with good grip!

– Take along a basic first-aid kit to help in case of injuries or emergencies.

-The main hospitals in this area for any medical emergency are : 1) Primary Health Care Center Ahmednagar; Maharashtra. Contact no :097628 30880 2) Samarth Hospital SH44; KolaharGhoti Road; AurangpurPhata; Contact no : 099222 64094

-The nearest police station is located at a distance of just 160 m from Bari village.

Here are some details :

Akole Police Station Dhumalwadi Road; Amrut Nagar; Akole; Maharashtra 422601; India phone: 02424 221 333.

Kalsubai Peak – Trek to the highest peak of Maharashtra (INR 600)

amazing landscape view Kalsubai highest peak of Maharashtra

There are few peaks in the state of Maharashtra which I have trekked multiple times. One amongst them is the Kalsubai Peak – The highest peak of Maharashtra, also known as “Everest of Maharashtra”. But why do I return to the same peak again for trekking? The main reason is to keep myself fit which additionally causes me to stay weariness free amid my long excursions.

View from Kalsubai- Highest peak of Maharashtra

So, can travel a lot be tiring? Truly, it can be. Traveling implies holding your body upright in an assortment of ungainly positions for quite a while. Energy is utilized holding those positions, regardless of whether your body is lashed in. A year ago when I was exploring the parts of Northeast India for about a month, I began feeling fatigue following a couple of days of traveling. What I realized is that if you are more into daily exercises (running, swimming, cycling, trekking), you can minimize the tiredness.

Standing at an elevation of 1646 meters, Kalsubai Peak’s summit is the highest point in Maharashtra . It lies within the Kalsubai Harishchandragad Wildlife Sanctuary and offers a breathtaking view of the nearby forts and the Bhandardara dam. The trek is little difficult, yet with little exertion, anybody can achieve the summit.

How to reach Kalsubai Peak base village from Pune – Mumbai

The cheapest way to reach Kalsubai Base Village “Bari” is via railways and roadways bus . The nearest railway station to Bari is Igatpuri which is around 32 kms from the base village. Igatpuri railway station is well connected to major Indian cities (Mumbai, Pune, Varanasi, Bhusaval, Jabalpur, Nagpur, Aurangabad) via railways.

Once you reach Igatpuri, you can catch a state transport bus for Bari village (INR 40). What I would suggest is stay overnight at Bhandardara (around 13 kms away from Bari) and catch an early morning bus from Bhandardara to Bari village (5:30 AM – INR 10). You can put your tent near Bhandardara dam and do camping.

My journey to Kalsubai Peak – Highest peak of Maharashtra

It was my second visit to the Kalsubai peak. Right around two years back, when I initially climbed this peak, it was indeed very challenging for me to reach the summit of the highest peak of Maharashtra. In route to the summit, I thought of quitting a dozen times, but at the end after a lot of efforts, I finally made up to the top in around 3 hours.

It has almost been a year since I am regular into running marathons, cycling, swimming, and trekking. I knew that it would be a little easy for me to trek the highest peak of Maharashtra compared to my previous visit. Earlier it was a solo journey but this time I was accompanied by few of my friends. One among them Hiren Patel is an Ironman finisher , and I knew it would be very exciting to trek with him.

At Kalsubai Peak top

We took the Pune BSL express which starts from Pune around 11:45 AM and reaches Igatpuri around 5:15 PM. From Igatpuri, we took a bus for Bhandardara which takes about an hour to reach the same. We arranged the firewood and tent from the locals and set it up close to the dam side. I still remember the essence of the scrumptious Maggi we cooked over there alongside tea and enjoying the music.

Early morning (5:30 AM), we took a bus from Bhandardara to reach the Bari Village – The base of Kalsubai peak. It was still dark when we started our trek; thanks to the mobile flashlight which helped us a lot to find the route. We wished to see the sunrise at least from some height, so we started trekking at a decent pace. The view of the sunrise was simply amazing.

If you are trekking in the monsoon season, you need to be a bit more careful as the route becomes quite slippery. Few times during the trek, you would feel like you have made it to the summit, but that won’t be the case. ☺  At the top, there is temple named ‘Kalsubai temple’ named after a lady Kalsubai. It is believed that she vanished close to the mountain while endeavoring to get away from her employer’s persevering torment.

From the top, the view of the surrounding region is absolutely outstanding with Bhandardara dam in the vicinity. It took me about 1 hrs. 40 min to make to the top and around 40 min to descend all the way back. I was exceptionally satisfied as it took only 2 hours and 20 min to ascend and descend the highest peak of Maharashtra compared to approx. 5 hours which I took on my previous attempt.

Best time to visit Kalsubai Peak

Without any doubt, the monsoon months from July to September are the best time to trek Kalsubai, the highest peak of Maharashtra. The surroundings are lush green with numerous waterfalls in the vicinity. Also, the winter months from October to February is a good time to trek this peak. Avoid summers, as it becomes very hot during the daytime.

Food and stay options at Kalsubai peak

There are few dhabbas at the base village Bari, where you can get the local Maharashtrian Food. Also, there are lots of stalls in between where the local villagers sell lemon juice, tea, biscuits, chips etc. But I would advise you to take some eatables along with you as well.

If you thinking to stay overnight, you can either set up the tent on the top or somewhere on the route to the summit. Also, there are few budget options available at the base village Bari. I would suggest you stay near the Bhandardara dam and enjoy camping over there.

The tent that I carry during the treks is Quechua Arpenaz 2 Tent . It has enough space for 2 people.

Kalsubai Trek Information

What is kalsubai .

Kalsubai ( Marathi : कळसूबाई शिखर) is a mountain in the  Western Ghats , located in the  Indian state  of  Maharashtra .

Kalsubai is the highest peak in Maharashtra and is located in  Ahmednagar district  in Akole Taluka. Its summit, situated at an elevation of 1,646 metres (5,400 ft), is the  highest point  in Maharashtra. Hence, known as the Everest of Maharashtra.

The mountain range lies within the  Kalsubai-Harishchandragad Wildlife Sanctuary . It is visited throughout the year by avid trekkers, Kalsubai temple devotees and wildlife enthusiasts. It is named after one of the three sisters Kalsubai, Ratnabai and Katrabai. The other peak  Ratangad  is named after Ratnabai.

Kalsubai Trek

Kalsubai is a 6.6 km-long (4.1 mi) round-trip trek from Bari, with an elevation gain of around 2,700 feet (820 m). This is a one-day trek having a moderately hard difficulty level, with lush green landscapes and multiple waterfalls.

The peak attracts many trekkers and devotees determined to scale the mountain. To reach the summit there are well-designated trekking routes. The most popular route is through the eastern mountain face taking off from the base village Bari. The krushnavanti river, a tributary of Pravara, takes origin on its eastern slope and flows like a stream through the outer fringes of Bari.

A short distance away from  Jahagirdarwadi . This provides an important landmark to commence the trek as well as a resting post for those nearing the final lap of their trek. The route from behind this temple takes the hiker straight to the summit.

The trek along this route is a mix of easy to ascend slopes as well as treacherous rocky outcrops overlooking the valley below. Considering the increasing footfall in recent years, the government has built iron ladders along the vertical hill slopes. These assist trekkers to allow for a convenient and safe ascent.

Regular route via Bari of the base village is easy for all trekkers, which has fixed ladders, cemented steps and several people flocking during the monsoon, the route via Indore is raw with stone steps and a huge iron chain for support at the dangerous patches.

Kalsubai Trek Route

Scaling Kalsubai has become something of a rite of passage for Kalsubai trekkers. The trek is moderately difficult, passing through lush paddy fields, jungles, small streams, highlands and rocky terrains, and takes around 3-4 hours, with short intervals in between, to reach the crest of Kalsubai.

Best Time To Visit Kalsubai (Bari Village)

July to September is the monsoon season. You get to see lush green landscapes and experience trekking in heavy rain. Although the monsoon season is the peak season it gets extremely crowded with about 2000- 3000 people on the trail.

Kalsubai Trek: A Thrilling Journey to Maharashtra’s Highest Peak

Table of Contents

Introduction

Picture this: you’re hanging in the air, between the earth and the sky, supported by nothing but a ladder. It’s a moment that defines adventure, one that tests your boundaries, celebrates your bravery and etches itself into your very being. My Kalsubai trek was all about these moments, and I can’t wait to take you along on this extraordinary journey.

Kalsubai Trek

Historical Perspective

To fully appreciate the grandeur of Kalsubai, you must first understand the heights it reaches. Kalsubai is the highest peak in Maharashtra, India, and it reaches an elevation of 1,646 meters (5,400 feet) above sea level. This Kalsubai peak height isn’t just a number; it’s the heart and soul of this mountain, showcasing the rugged beauty of the Western Ghats.

But Kalsubai’s significance goes beyond its impressive height. People have been coming here for ages to pay their respects to the local goddess. The name “Kalsubai” itself derived from a village woman named Kalsu who took up the challenging task of scaling the mountain. She couldn’t complete the task, but her efforts earned her the name of the mountain. Some cool stories and legends make this place even more special. It’s not just a trek; it’s a cultural journey.

Kalsubai peak

How to reach Kalsubai Trek

Now, before we delve into the heart of this journey, let’s talk about how you can actually get to Kalsubai. If you’re in Mumbai or Pune, you’re in for a treat because Kalsubai isn’t too far away. You can opt for a scenic bus ride or choose to drive, both promising a delightful journey.

The drive is an adventure in itself, taking you through the serene rural landscapes of Maharashtra. As you leave the bustling city behind and head toward the mountains, you’ll witness the landscape transform, preparing you for the adventure that awaits.

The trek kicks off from Bari, the base village of Kalsubai. Reaching Bari is relatively straightforward. If you’re relying on public transport, catch a bus to Igatpuri, a town located close to Bari. From Igatpuri, you can easily hire a local vehicle to reach Bari, the starting point of your trek.

If you have the luxury of your wheels, driving to Bari offers flexibility, allowing you to set your pace and make impromptu stops to admire the scenic beauty of the region. The journey covers approximately 165 kilometers from Mumbai to Bari and typically takes around three to four hours, depending on factors like traffic and road conditions.

Best Time to Visit Kalsubai Trek

The prime trekking season for Kalsubai peak trek is during the cool, pleasant months of November to February. It is when the weather is just right, with clear skies and comfortable temperatures. During these months, the landscape surrounding Kalsubai is a lush green, offering a beautiful contrast to the rocky terrain. The trek becomes a delightful adventure where the elements are in your favor.

However, it’s best to avoid Kalsubai peak during the monsoon season, which typically runs from June to September. The heavy rainfall during these months can transform the trails into slippery, muddy paths, making navigation challenging and potentially risky. While the monsoon does bring about greenery and the sight of waterfalls, it’s not the safest time to undertake the trek. Safety first, as they say!

Trek Difficulty and Duration

Now, let’s dive into the nitty-gritty. Is the Kalsubai trek right for you, and how long will it take? Well, here’s the scoop: the Kalsubai trek is fantastic because it caters to a wide range of trekkers, from novices to seasoned hikers. The difficulty level of Kalsubai trek is often classified as moderate, making it suitable for most adventure enthusiasts.

Now, let’s talk time. The typical duration of the Kalsubai trek, from start to finish, is around 6 to 7 hours. This can vary depending on your fitness level and how fast you want to tackle it. Some adventurers might complete it more swiftly, while others savor the journey, relishing the breathtaking scenery.

Kalsubai Trek Route

When you get to the base village, Bari, you’ll start your trek. It’s a bit steep at first, but don’t worry; it gets easier as you go. The path is well-defined so that you won’t get lost. The lush green surroundings and the cool mountain air are incredibly refreshing, especially after leaving behind the hustle and bustle of city life.

As you ascend, you’ll notice the change in the vegetation around you. The dense forests and the abundance of wildflowers create a magical atmosphere. The monsoon season, with its frequent showers, transforms this region into a paradise for nature lovers.

And then, you encounter the “Heavenly Ladder.” This is the most exciting and challenging part of the trek. The ladder is a steep climb, and as you make your way up, you’ll be surrounded by the breathtaking view of the valley below. The feeling of accomplishment once you conquer this section is truly extraordinary. Once you reach the top, you’ll be rewarded with a mesmerizing 360-degree view of the surrounding Sahyadri mountain ranges. The panoramic vista from the summit is one of the main reasons trekkers make this journey. You’ll be left speechless by the beauty of nature.

10 invincible storylines to expect in season 3.

Invincible season 2 set up some exciting possibilities for season 3, and here are 10 comic storylines that could appear in the upcoming season.

Warning: Contains SPOILERS for Invincible season 2 and the comics!

  • Mark Grayson's blue suit arc is a major storyline to expect in Invincible season 3, signaling a darker path for the character.
  • Oliver's transformation into Kid Omni-Man is likely to happen in the upcoming season, following the comics closely.
  • The introduction of Powerplex as Invincible's new arch-nemesis sets the stage for intense conflict and revenge in season 3.

Invincible season 2 has finally come to a close, but there are still many more arcs to explore, so here are 10 Invincible storylines from the comics to expect in season 3. Although the Invincible TV show has added in some original elements, many of the most significant storylines in the Invincible show are ripped straight from the comic series, with the show following the order and pacing of the comics. Because of this, it is already clear that some specific storylines will appear in Invincible season 3, and these 10 are the most likely candidates.

Invincible season 2, part 2 is finally here, with the highly anticipated continuation of Amazon Prime Video's critically acclaimed adaptation of the superhero comic series of the same name now released in full on the streaming service. Invincible season 2, part 2 picks up right where Invincible season 2, part 1 ended , with Mark Grayson returning home from Thraxa in order to take on more Earth-based threats . The Invincible season 2 finale finally saw Mark and Angstrom Levy face off, setting the stage for an even more exciting story to be told in the upcoming third season of Invincible .

10 Mark Grayson's Blue Suit

Mark gets a makeover.

One of the most obvious storylines for Invincible to tell in season 3 is Mark Grayson's blue suit storyline. In the comics, Art makes Mark a new blue and black suit upon making the suit for Kid Omni-Man , with Art explaining it as a change of pace. Mark sticks with the blue suit for a while, with this being reflective of the character going down a much darker path.

Although the blue suit was teased throughout the season, Mark didn't get the blue suit in Invincible season 2 , with the finale ending just before the point where Mark gets his superhero makeover in the comics. Because of this, it is fully expected that Mark will get his blue suit early in Invincible season 3, paying off the teases of season 2. The blue suit arc could be the main focus of the upcoming batch of episodes, as Mark eventually returns to his yellow and blue suit after rejecting his darker path.

Invincible's 6 Future Guardians Of The Globe Heroes Explained (& Why Rex Is Wearing Robot's Suit)

9 oliver's transformation into kid omni-man, oliver follows in his father's footsteps.

Alongside Mark Grayson's blue suit arc, it is also almost guaranteed that Invincible season 3 will contain Oliver's transformation into Kid Omni-Man. In the Invincible comics, Oliver comes to Earth from Thraxa as a baby, with his rapid aging allowing him to catch up to Mark pretty quickly. Upon becoming a teenager, Oliver decides that he wants to be a superhero like his father and his dad, with him using his Viltrumite powers to become Kid Omni-Man.

In the comics, Oliver Grayson reveals his superpowers to his brother in the issue directly after Rus Livingston and the Sequids are defeated by the Guardians of the Globe. Since this arc appeared in Invincible season 2, Oliver Grayson will probably get his powers soon , meaning that the Kid Omni-Man arc is almost guaranteed to happen in Invincible season 3.

8 The GDA's Implementation Of ReAnimen

Cecil tries a new approach.

Another major storyline that occurs in the wake of Angstrom Levy's villain arc is the use of ReAnimen by the Global Defense Agency , something that shakes up the world of Invincible . In the comics, Cecil hires the villain D.A. Sinclair to create cyborgs out of dead bodies, with Cecil using the ReAnimen as foot soldiers. This decision causes some conflict between Cecil and Mark, something that will probably be explored in season 3.

Cecil's use of the ReAnimen for the GDA was heavily teased throughout Invincible season 2, with Cecil even talking to Sinclair about the ReAnimen several times throughout the season. Although they weren't ready yet, they will probably be ready in Invincible season 3, with the GDA's updated ReAnimen playing significant roles in several key storylines, including the truly epic Invincible War saga.

7 Allen & Omni-Man's Prison Escape

An exciting invincible team-up.

The cosmic side of Invincible will also receive some more attention in Invincible season 3, with Allen the Alien and Omni-Man's prison escape possibly being the focus of the very first episode. In the comics, Allen the Alien meets Nolan in a Viltrumite prison, with the two bursting out and returning to the Coalition of Planets in an attempt to start working for the Coalition during the Viltrumite War.

The latter half of Invincible season 2 saw Allen attempting to track down Nolan, with Allen letting himself get kidnapped by the Viltrumties and finding Nolan in prison. The very last scene in Invincible season 2 involved Omni-Man admitting that he missed his wife, hinting that he has fully turned against the Viltrum Empire. Because of this, Allen and Nolan will most likely burst out of the prison early in season 3, working together to escape from their Viltrumite kidnappers.

6 Gathering The Viltrumite Weaknesses From Omni-Man's Books

Using an unexpected ally.

After escaping the Viltrumite prison in the Invincible comics, Allen the Alien and Nolan Grayson head to the Coalition of Planets homeworld in an attempt to begin preparing for the Viltrumite War. Thadeus sends Allen and Nolan to track down Viltrumite weaknesses from across the galaxy, with them using the books that Nolan wrote on Earth to find them. These intergalactic adventures allow Allen and Nolan to grow closer, setting up the Viltrumite War storyline.

Invincible season 2 already introduced Omni-Man's sci-fi books , with Allen going to Earth to scan them for weaknesses before returning to space. Several Viltrumite weaknesses are highlighted in Invincible season 2, with these important setups being used later in the series as weapons against the Viltrumites. This is the very next thing that Allen and Nolan do after breaking out of prison, meaning that it will most likely appear in season 3 as well.

5 The Timeline Of Tyrant King Immortal

He goes down a dark path.

One of the weirdest storylines from the Invincible comics that could appear in season 3 has to do with time travel, with Mark Grayson taking on the tyrannical king of Earth, The Immortal . In the comics, Mark repeatedly runs into two time traveling bandits, only for them to reveal that they are actually trying to save a future Earth from a tyrant king. Mark goes to the future to help, only for him to realize that this tyrant is actually the former Guardians of the Globe member the Immortal.

While this storyline doesn't have much to do with the broader overarching story of Invincible , it is a fun side adventure that could fit into Invincible season 3. Although it may get cut for time, its position in the Invincible timeline means that it will probably appear in season 3, allowing for more Invincible time-traveling adventures.

4 Multi-Paul's Fight Against The Guardians

Forcing another superhero's hand.

The death of Dupli-Kate is a major turning point in Invincible , with it being the catalyst for several future storylines. The most significant of these occurs when Kate's brother Multi-Paul shows up to fight the Guardians in an attempt to avenge his sister. This epic fight causes a lot of destruction, but it also forces Kate to reveal that she is still alive to the world.

Dupli-Kate's purported death was one of the saddest parts of Invincible season 2, but her grand return will probably happen in season 3. Invincible season 2 has already revealed that Dupli-Kate is still alive, with The Immortal meeting her hidden clone in a cabin. Thus, it shouldn't be long until more characters find out that Kate is still alive, with her returning for the Multi-Paul storyline in Invincible season 3.

3 Mark's Falling Out With Cecil

Cecil makes some drastic choices.

Although Mark Grayson and Cecil have never exactly seen eye to eye, the two have a major falling out after the events of Angstrom Levy's kidnapping of Debbie and Oliver, meaning that this could occur in Invincible season 3. In the comics, Cecil tries to rehabilitate people like D.A. Sinclair and Darkwing while also trying to get rid of people like Wolf-Man. Mark disagrees with these practices, causing him to have to fight Cecil's ReAnimen before quitting his job at the GDA.

Invincible season 2's introduction of Oliver and set up of Mark Grayson's blue suit arc set the stage for Mark and Cecil's big conflict to occur in season 3. Mark is questioning his role as a superhero and many of Cecil's actions, with Mark's decisions to lash out at several points eventually leading to his falling out with Cecil in the near future.

2 Invincible's New Arch-Nemesis, Powerplex

An all-new street-level threat.

Another new street-level villain is set to appear in Invincible soon, with this being Mark Grayson's new arch-nemesis, Powerplex. Powerplex is a character who has the ability to absorb and reuse energy, with him hoping to kill Mark Grayson as revenge for Powerplex's sister being a victim of Mark and Nolan's Chicago fight. However, Powerplex's plan backfires and leads to the death of his wife and child, making his hatred for Invincible only grow stronger.

What Happens To Angstrom Levy After Invincible's Season 2 Finale

Powerplex is one of the most complicated side characters in Invincible , and his first appearance and encounter with Mark will most likely occur in Invincible season 3. Powerplex is a recurring character throughout a significant chunk of Invincible , meaning that season 3 could set him up for even bigger roles in future seasons, including his role on a new GDA superhero team.

1 The Invincible War

Angstrom levy's climactic plan.

The biggest Invincible storyline that will undoubtedly appear in season 3 is the climactic Invincible War. In the comics, Angstrom Levy secretly survived his death at the hands of Invincible , with him disappearing to plot a new scheme. Angstrom Levy rounds up evil versions of Mark Grayson and brings them to the main Invincible universe, allowing them to wreak havoc on the world. The Invincible War has all kinds of repercussions, including some major deaths, with it being one of the most hyped potential moments in Invincible season 3.

Due to Invincible season 2 giving a heavy focus to Angstrom Levy, it is possible that he could return in season 3. Invincible season 2 ended with Mark believing that he killed Angstrom Levy, putting the final piece in place for Invincible season 3 to contain the Invincible War storyline.

Based on the comic book character by Robert Kirkman, Invincible follows Mark Grayson,  a seventeen-year-old who leads a seemingly average life save for the fact that he lives behind the shadow of his superhero father, Omni-Man. Mark goes on to develop superhuman abilities, but he must also learn that his father's legacy isn't as glitzy and glamorous as he's been led to believe.
