Seattle Hotel with Shuttle to Pier 91 and 66

Port of Seattle hotels with cruise shuttle

Seattle Waterfront and Hotel

Traffic jams in Seattle are legendary, and rated among the worst in the entire United States.

Add variable weather conditions that can be blustery and cold – not to mention the rains that are even more notorious than the city’s traffic – and just getting to the pier to board your ship can seem like an unending journey in itself.

Luckily, most hotels in Seattle can accommodate your overnight needs, and then get you to the cruiseship terminal with a dedicated shuttle service, typically for a very reasonable fee.

Seattle is a tourist and business destination itself, with a broad selection of hotels and accommodations at various price levels.

With port transfers widely available and cheap, your best bet is to choose a hotel based on your preferences – what type of room you’d like, price range, star rating, free breakfast and so on according to your needs.

Within your choices, you will no doubt find hotels that offer a port shuttle service to Smith Cove and Bell Street cruise terminals, and where they don’t many will arrange a port transfer through a car service.

An image that showcases a serene cruise ship deck with passengers casually lounging, engrossed in their smartphones, while a WiFi symbol hovers above the ship, symbolizing free and seamless text communication

Did you know that over 30 million people go on a cruise each year? It’s no surprise, considering the incredible experience of sailing through the open waters, exploring new destinations, and enjoying all the amenities onboard.

However, one common concern for cruisers is staying connected with loved ones back home without breaking the bank. In this article, I will share some valuable tips on how to text on a cruise ship for free.

Whether you’re looking to send updates to friends and family or simply stay in touch with your travel companions, these strategies will ensure that you can communicate without worrying about expensive roaming charges or limited Wi-Fi access.

From leveraging messaging apps that work offline to utilizing Wi-Fi hotspots in port and even using satellite messaging devices, we’ve got you covered.

So sit back, relax, and get ready to discover how easy it is to stay connected while cruising the high seas!

  • Utilize messaging apps that work offline, such as WhatsApp, Telegram, and Signal.
  • Take advantage of Wi-Fi hotspots in local cafes or restaurants in port.
  • Use a Wi-Fi calling app to bypass expensive ship communication charges.
  • Consider purchasing an international data plan for a reliable and convenient way to stay connected.

Check if your cruise ship offers free onboard Wi-Fi

Before you set sail, make sure to check if your cruise ship offers free onboard Wi-Fi. It’s important to stay connected while cruising, especially when it comes to texting loved ones or keeping up with work emails.

To avoid unexpected charges, take the time to research alternative communication methods and find out if your ship provides complimentary internet access. Some cruise lines offer free Wi-Fi in certain areas of the ship or for a limited time each day.

Keep in mind that speeds may be slower than what you’re used to on land, but it’s still a great way to stay connected without breaking the bank.

In the next section, we’ll explore how you can use messaging apps that work offline and keep you connected even when there’s no Wi-Fi available onboard.

Use messaging apps that work offline

Utilizing messaging apps that function offline can enable you to stay connected with loved ones without incurring any additional costs. Offline messaging benefits are numerous when it comes to staying in touch while on a cruise ship. These apps allow you to send and receive messages even without an active internet connection, ensuring seamless communication throughout your trip.

Some of the best messaging apps for offline communication include WhatsApp, Telegram, and Signal. These apps offer end-to-end encryption for enhanced privacy and security, as well as features like voice messages and file sharing. By downloading these apps before setting sail, you can enjoy free texting and calling capabilities during your entire cruise adventure.

Now let’s explore how to take advantage of Wi-Fi hotspots in port…

Take advantage of Wi-Fi hotspots in port

When exploring a new port, I highly recommend taking advantage of the Wi-Fi hotspots available in local cafes or restaurants. This allows you to easily share your experiences on social media and stay connected with friends and family back home.

For instance, imagine you’re visiting Barcelona and find a charming café with free Wi-Fi where you can upload stunning photos of Gaudi’s architectural wonders while sipping on delicious Spanish coffee. Not only does this save you from using expensive data roaming on your phone, but it also ensures a more stable and reliable internet connection.

Wi-Fi availability at popular cruise ports is quite common nowadays, making it convenient for travelers to connect online effortlessly. So take a break from being aboard the ship and embrace the benefits of using Wi-Fi hotspots on land.

Once you’ve enjoyed your time connecting in port, let’s move on to the next step: using a Wi-Fi calling app to keep in touch with loved ones even when you’re out at sea.

Use a Wi-Fi calling app

Stay connected with your loved ones even while exploring the open sea by using a Wi-Fi calling app. These apps utilize an internet connection to make voice calls, allowing you to bypass expensive ship communication charges. Here are three benefits of using a Wi-Fi calling app:

Cost-effective: Wi-Fi calling apps allow you to make free or low-cost calls, saving you money on international roaming charges.

Convenience: With a Wi-Fi calling app, you can easily call anyone from your contact list without needing their specific app or phone model.

Quality and reliability: Most Wi-Fi calling apps offer high-quality voice calls and have improved significantly in terms of stability and connectivity.

While Wi-Fi calling is a great option, it’s important to note that there are alternatives available like purchasing an international data plan. This allows you to use your regular phone number and cellular network while traveling abroad.

Purchase an international data plan

To ensure seamless connectivity while traveling abroad, you can easily purchase an international data plan. This plan allows you to use your regular phone number and cellular network. Can you imagine effortlessly browsing the web and sharing stunning travel pictures with friends and family from anywhere in the world?

The benefits of using an international data plan are immense. Firstly, it provides a reliable and convenient way to stay connected without relying on Wi-Fi hotspots. Secondly, it eliminates the need for purchasing local SIM cards or dealing with expensive roaming charges.

When choosing the right international data plan, consider factors like coverage, data limits, and pricing options. By selecting a plan that suits your needs, you can enjoy uninterrupted messaging and internet access during your cruise.

Transitioning into the subsequent section about ‘use a portable Wi-Fi device,’ let’s explore another option for staying connected at sea.

Use a portable Wi-Fi device

Imagine effortlessly accessing high-speed internet and staying connected with your loved ones aboard a cruise ship using a portable Wi-Fi device. When it comes to staying connected on the open seas, portable Wi-Fi options are a game-changer. These devices allow you to create your own personal hotspot, providing you with reliable internet access wherever you go on the ship.

To give you a better understanding of the benefits of using a portable Wi-Fi device, take a look at this table:

With these advantages in mind, it’s clear that choosing a portable Wi-Fi device is an excellent option for maintaining Wi-Fi connectivity on cruise ships. By enabling airplane mode and utilizing offline messaging features, you can further enhance your communication capabilities while enjoying your time at sea.

Enable airplane mode and use offline messaging

When you’re sailing the high seas, why not embrace the freedom of airplane mode and indulge in some good old-fashioned offline messaging?

On a cruise ship, enabling airplane mode can have several benefits. Firstly, it helps conserve battery life as your phone won’t constantly search for a signal. Additionally, by disconnecting from cellular networks, you avoid excessive roaming charges.

But the real advantage lies in offline messaging. Many popular messaging apps now offer an option to send messages without an internet connection. You can compose texts and even attach photos or videos while offline. Once you regain Wi-Fi or data access, your messages will automatically be sent. It’s like having a personal postman on board!

Now let’s sail into the next section about ‘use a satellite messaging device’ to explore another way to stay connected at sea without breaking the bank.

Use a satellite messaging device

Now that we’ve explored the option of enabling airplane mode and using offline messaging, let’s dive into another method to text for free on a cruise ship: using a satellite messaging device.

This option offers numerous benefits when it comes to staying connected at sea. Satellite messaging allows you to send texts, make calls, and even access your social media accounts from anywhere in the world, including the middle of the ocean.

When choosing a satellite messaging device, consider factors like coverage area, battery life, size and weight, and ease of use. Look for devices that offer global coverage and have long-lasting batteries to ensure uninterrupted communication throughout your cruise journey.

With all these options at your fingertips, you’ll never miss an opportunity to connect with loved ones or share stunning photos of your cruise adventure.

Now let’s move on to explore yet another way to stay connected: using a walkie-talkie app.

Use a walkie-talkie app

Furthermore, using a walkie-talkie app allows for instantaneous communication and easy coordination with your travel companions on the cruise. It’s one of the most convenient walkie-talkie alternatives available today. With just a few taps on your smartphone, you can connect with your friends and family onboard without any additional cost.

Here are some benefits of using a walkie-talkie app:

  • Real-time communication: Stay connected with your group in real-time, ensuring that everyone is on the same page.
  • Group chats: Create group chats to keep everyone informed and engaged, making it easier to plan activities together.
  • Location sharing: Share your location with others so that you can easily find each other on the ship.

However, it’s important to note some limitations of walkie-talkie apps. They rely on internet connectivity, so if you’re in an area with weak or no signal, they may not work effectively.

In order to ensure seamless communication during your cruise, plan ahead and inform your loved ones of your communication plan.

Plan ahead and inform your loved ones of your communication plan

To ensure smooth communication during your trip, make sure to let your loved ones know in advance about your communication plan. It’s important to inform them of the alternatives you’ll be using to stay connected while on the cruise ship. By doing so, they’ll have peace of mind knowing how and when they can reach you. To help you visualize these options, I’ve created a table that highlights some popular communication alternatives:

By sharing this information with your loved ones beforehand, you can all stay connected and keep each other updated throughout your cruise adventure. So remember, planning ahead is key to hassle-free communication while enjoying your time at sea.

Are there any additional charges for using onboard Wi-Fi on a cruise ship?

There are often additional charges for using onboard Wi-Fi on a cruise ship. It’s essential to check with the cruise line about their internet packages and pricing before relying on the ship’s Wi-Fi.

Can I use popular messaging apps like WhatsApp or Facebook Messenger without an internet connection?

No, you cannot use popular messaging apps like WhatsApp or Facebook Messenger without an internet connection. However, there are alternatives to these apps that allow you to send messages and make calls offline on a cruise ship.

Are there any restrictions or limitations on using Wi-Fi hotspots in port?

There may be limitations on accessing Wi-Fi hotspots in port, depending on the specific location and cruise ship. However, the benefits of using onboard Wi-Fi on a cruise ship include convenient access to internet services and staying connected with family and friends.

What are some recommended Wi-Fi calling apps that can be used on a cruise ship?

I’ve found that some recommended Wi-Fi calling apps for using on a cruise ship are WhatsApp, Skype, and FaceTime. These apps allow you to make calls over Wi-Fi without incurring any additional charges.

How can I purchase an international data plan for my phone while on a cruise?

To purchase an international data plan for my phone while on a cruise, I recommend contacting your service provider beforehand. This will allow you to access data and use messaging apps offline without incurring exorbitant charges.

As I bid farewell to the vast ocean and my thrilling cruise adventure, I reflect on the magical moments shared with loved ones.

Just as a lighthouse guides ships to safety, these ingenious methods transformed communication at sea.

Like a compass pointing towards connection, we navigated through Wi-Fi hotspots in port and used messaging apps that worked offline.

With our trusty satellite messaging device by our side, we sailed smoothly into the realm of free texting.

Symbolizing unity amidst vast waters, these techniques ensured unforgettable memories were etched in our hearts forever.

So please sit back, relax (preferably with a fruity drink in hand), and get ready for some unexpected answers as we unravel the mysteries of cruising like never before! Whether you’re a seasoned sailor or dreaming of your first voyage, prepare for an enlightening and entertaining journey through these lesser-known aspects of life on the high seas.

Ahoy there – let’s set sail on our quest to answer your most burning cruise ship cabin questions!

What Is a Cruise Ship Jail?

Cruise ships are like floating cities, complete with restaurants, entertainment venues, and even their own jails. Yes, you read that right – cruise ship jails exist! But before you start picturing a dark and dingy cell below deck, let’s explore what exactly a cruise ship jail is.

Contrary to popular belief, cruise ship jails are not designed for criminals or dangerous individuals. Instead, they serve as temporary holding areas for passengers who have broken the rules or engaged in disruptive behavior. These “jails” are often small rooms or cabins that have been repurposed to temporarily house unruly passengers until the situation can be resolved. But why would someone end up in a cruise ship jail? Well, there are various reasons. It could be due to excessive drinking leading to disorderly conduct or physical altercations on board. Passengers may also find themselves confined if they fail to comply with safety regulations such as skipping mandatory drills or tampering with life-saving equipment. Although it might sound intimidating at first glance, spending time in a cruise ship jail is not meant to be punitive but rather serves as a way for the crew to maintain order and ensure the safety of all passengers on board. Depending on the severity of the offense and its impact on other guests’ experience, individuals held in these temporary holding areas may face consequences ranging from warnings and fines to being disembarked at the next port. So while it’s certainly an unusual aspect of cruising life that most people don’t think about when booking their vacation at sea, knowing that there’s a system in place helps create a sense of security onboard these massive vessels. Cruise ships operate under strict guidelines set by international maritime laws and regulations enforced by governing bodies such as the International Maritime Organization (IMO). Safety is paramount – after all, no one wants their dream vacation turning into chaos because of lax enforcement. In conclusion (without using those exact words), although cruise ship jails might sound like a scene from a movie, they play an essential role in maintaining

Cruise Ship Mortality Rate

Cruise Ship Mortality Rate : When it comes to cruising, safety is always a top concern for travelers. You might be wondering about the mortality rate on cruise ships and if there are any risks involved. Let’s dive into this topic and shed some light on the matter. 1. The reality is that incidents resulting in death aboard cruise ships are relatively rare. Cruise lines have strict safety protocols in place to ensure passenger well-being. From medical facilities staffed with qualified professionals to rigorous training for crew members, measures are taken to minimize any potential risks. 2. However, it’s important to remember that accidents can happen anywhere, including on a cruise ship. While the chances of experiencing a fatal incident during your vacation are extremely low, it’s still crucial to follow all safety instructions provided by the crew and exercise caution while onboard. 3. One factor that contributes to the lower mortality rate on cruise ships is their adherence to international maritime regulations. These rules outline specific safety standards that must be met by all vessels operating at sea, including those carrying passengers. 4. In addition, modern technology has greatly improved overall safety at sea. Cruise ships are equipped with state-of-the-art navigation systems and communication devices that allow them to quickly respond in case of emergencies or adverse weather conditions. 5. Another aspect worth mentioning is the comprehensive medical facilities available onboard most cruise ships today. They typically have fully stocked pharmacies and medical teams capable of handling various health issues that may arise during a voyage. 6 . It’s also worth noting that many deaths reported on cruise ships are often related to natural causes or pre-existing health conditions rather than accidents or incidents directly caused by being onboard a ship. 7 . While no activity can guarantee absolute safety, cruising remains an incredibly safe method of travel when considering its vast popularity and number of voyages undertaken each year without incident. In conclusion, The mortality rate on cruise ships is relatively low due to stringent safety measures, adherence to international regulations, advanced technology, and onboard medical facilities. While accidents and medical issues can occur, the risk is minimal when compared to other types of travel or recreation.

Ship or Boat?

When it comes to cruising, one common question that often arises is whether a cruise ship should be referred to as a “ship” or a “boat.” While the terms may seem interchangeable to some, there are actually distinct differences between the two. Let’s take a closer look at what sets them apart.

1. Size Matters: Typically, ships are larger than boats in terms of both length and capacity. Cruise ships can accommodate thousands of passengers and crew members, boasting multiple decks and amenities like restaurants, theaters, and swimming pools. On the other hand, boats tend to be smaller vessels used for recreational purposes or short trips. 2. Purpose: Ships generally serve specific functions such as transportation of goods or people over long distances. They are designed for extended journeys across oceans or seas with facilities for overnight stays onboard. Boats, on the other hand, are typically used for leisure activities like fishing or sailing in coastal waters. 3. Construction: The construction methods also differ between ships and boats. Ships are built using steel or aluminum materials to ensure durability in harsh marine environments while accommodating large cargo loads or passenger capacities. Boats can be made from various materials including fiberglass, wood, or even inflatable materials suitable for their intended use. 4. Stability: Due to their size and design features like stabilizers, cruise ships offer greater stability compared to most boats which tend to have less stability due to their smaller size and lighter construction. 5: Licensing Requirements: In many countries around the world including the United States Coast Guard (USCG), there is a distinction between boat licenses (for recreational vessels) and ship licenses (for commercial vessels). These licensing requirements further emphasize the difference between these two types of maritime transport. 6: Nautical Terminology: Nautically speaking when referring specifically about lifeboats aboard cruise ships they’re commonly known as tenders whereas small motorized watercrafts attached at ports during excursions ashore are called ‘ship’s boats’. This further distinguishes the terminology used between ships

The Meaning Behind Muster Drill

Picture this: you’re on a cruise ship, soaking up the sun and sipping on a fruity cocktail. Life is good. But wait! Before you can fully relax and indulge in all the fun activities onboard, there’s something important that needs to happen – the muster drill. What exactly is a muster drill? Well, it’s essentially a safety briefing that takes place at the beginning of your cruise. During this drill, passengers are required to gather at designated areas on deck and listen to instructions from crew members regarding emergency procedures. Now, you might be wondering why such a formal-sounding event is necessary when all you want to do is unwind and have a great time. The answer is simple: safety first! Cruise ships go through meticulous preparations for any potential emergencies or accidents that may occur while out at sea. During the muster drill, passengers are instructed on how to properly put on life jackets and where to assemble in case of an evacuation. This knowledge could potentially save lives in real-life situations, so it’s definitely not something to take lightly! But here’s an interesting fact: did you know that “muster” actually means “to gather” or “assemble”? So essentially, during the muster drill, everyone gathers together as one big community with the shared goal of staying safe should anything unexpected happen. It’s also worth noting that each passenger has their own designated assembly station based on their cabin location. This ensures that everyone knows exactly where they need to go in case of an emergency – no room for confusion or chaos here! Now imagine this scenario: Bill W., Dorothy, and Jimmy are enjoying their first-ever cruise vacation together. They’ve just settled into their cabins when they hear an announcement over the loudspeaker about participating in the muster drill.

Curious as ever, Bill W. asks Dorothy what it means. She explains its purpose and emphasizes how crucial it is for everyone’s safety. Jimmy, being the jokester that he is, chimes in with a comment about how important it is to know the muster drill rules.

The three of them laugh, but they also understand that this isn’t something to take lightly. After all, in an emergency situation, knowing the proper muster drill procedures can help save lives – and that’s no joke!

So there you have it: the meaning behind muster drill. Now that you know why it exists and how important it is, make sure to pay attention during your ship’s safety briefing. And try not to forget Jimmy’s wise words – “Know the rules!”

The Story of Bill W, Dorothy, and Jimmy

The story of Bill W, Dorothy, and Jimmy is one that has become a legend among cruise ship enthusiasts. It all started on a sunny day in the Caribbean when they boarded their first-ever cruise together. Little did they know that this trip would be filled with unexpected twists and turns. As soon as they stepped foot onto the ship, Bill W couldn’t help but marvel at its grandeur. The towering structure seemed like a floating city, ready to whisk them away to exotic destinations. Dorothy was equally amazed by the sheer size of the vessel – it felt like stepping into a different world altogether. Their excitement quickly turned to confusion when an announcement came over the intercom for everyone to gather for something called a “muster drill”. They had no idea what it meant or why it was important, but they dutifully followed the crowd to their designated meeting point. Once there, they learned that a muster drill is essentially an emergency preparedness exercise. Passengers are required to familiarize themselves with safety procedures and locate their life jackets in case of any unforeseen events while out at sea. It was reassuring yet slightly nerve-wracking for them as first-time cruisers. One evening during dinner, Bill W struck up a conversation with Jimmy, who happened to be seated next to him at their assigned table. They quickly bonded over their love for adventure and shared stories about previous cruises they had been on. Jimmy revealed some insider knowledge about cruise ships – apparently, there’s such thing as a cruise ship jail! He explained that unruly passengers or those who pose risks can be detained in designated holding areas until authorities can handle the situation appropriately. This revelation left Bill W and Dorothy both intrigued and slightly amused by this hidden aspect of cruising life. Another mystery surrounding cruise ships is whether or not saltwater is used in toilets onboard. Well, according to Jimmy’s vast experience sailing across various oceans, most modern-day vessels use a vacuum system that does not rely on saltwater. This was a relief for Bill W and Dorothy, who had been worried about their drinking water supply while out at sea.

Bill W, Dorothy, and Jimmy continued to explore the different ships they sailed on, indulging in the unique experiences each one had to offer. They forged a strong bond over the course of their many cruises together, and soon enough they were being referred to as “The Cruise Trio”. Their adventures became legendary and remain an inspiration for those looking for a unique way to explore the world.

Saltwater in Cruise Ship Toilets?

Saltwater in cruise ship toilets? It’s a question that may sound strange at first, but it’s actually quite common for people to wonder about. So let’s dive into this topic and explore the truth behind saltwater in cruise ship toilets. First of all, it’s important to understand that most cruise ships do not use saltwater in their toilets. Instead, they use regular freshwater just like any other flushing system you would find on land. The misconception may arise from the fact that some older ships used seawater for flushing purposes, but this practice has become rare nowadays. So why would anyone consider using saltwater in the first place? Well, one reason could be the abundance of seawater surrounding the ship. Some argue that utilizing saltwater instead of freshwater can help conserve resources on board. However, there are several reasons why this is not a practical solution. One major issue with using saltwater is corrosion. Salt content can damage plumbing systems over time and lead to expensive repairs or replacements. Additionally, when mixed with human waste and chemicals commonly found in toilets, saltwater can create an unpleasant smell throughout the vessel. Furthermore, using freshwater allows for better control over hygiene and sanitation standards on board. Cruise lines have strict regulations regarding cleanliness and health practices to ensure a safe environment for passengers and crew members alike. But what about those instances where passengers claim they’ve encountered salty water while using their cabin bathrooms? Well, this could be due to various factors such as maintenance issues or temporary malfunctions within specific cabins or sections of the ship. It’s also worth noting that modern cruise ships have advanced filtration systems onboard which convert seawater into potable drinking water used throughout all areas of the vessel including showers, sinks, pools etc., so there should never be any confusion between fresh drinking water and toilet flushing water sources! In conclusion (without saying “in conclusion”), it’s safe to say that most cruise ships do NOT use saltwater in their toilets. Instead, they rely on conventional freshwater systems for flushing purposes. Any instances in which saltwater is encountered could be attributed to maintenance issue or temporary malfunction within specific cabins or sections of the ship.s or temporary malfunctions, but it should not be considered the norm.

Source of Water on A Cruise Ship

Water, the elixir of life. We need it to survive, and our bodies are made up of mostly water. So when you’re cruising the high seas on a magnificent cruise ship, have you ever wondered where all that water comes from? Let’s dive in and explore the source of water on a cruise ship. 1. Seawater desalination: Cruise ships are surrounded by vast oceans, but drinking seawater directly is not an option due to its high salt content. That’s why most cruise ships have onboard desalination plants. These plants use advanced technology to remove salt and impurities from seawater, converting it into fresh, drinkable water for guests and crew members alike. 2. Water storage tanks: Once the seawater has been treated through desalination, it is stored in large tanks located within the bowels of the ship (no pun intended). These tanks can hold thousands upon thousands of gallons of water, ensuring there is always an ample supply for everyone on board. 3. Shore connections: When docked at port cities or during certain parts of their journey, some cruise ships may connect to shore-based sources for freshwater supply rather than relying solely on their own desalination plants. 4. Rainwater harvesting: Some eco-friendly cruise ships have implemented rainwater harvesting systems as part of their sustainability efforts. They collect rainwater through specially designed roofs or other surfaces and store it for various uses such as irrigation or even supplementing their freshwater supplies. 5. Recycling wastewater: Onboard treatment facilities play a crucial role in recycling wastewater generated by showers, sinks, laundry machines, and other sources throughout the ship. This recycled wastewater undergoes treatment processes before being reused for non-drinking purposes like flushing toilets or cleaning decks. 6. Green technologies: As environmental consciousness grows stronger within the industry, recent advancements include innovative technologies such as onboard filtration systems that help reduce water consumption by recycling and reusing it more efficiently.

7. Conservation measures: Cruises ships have implemented various water conservation measures, such as installing low-flow fixtures and water-saving appliances, training staff to reduce water waste, monitoring and controlling water usage rates, and educating guests about the importance of conserving water.

Waste Management on A Cruise Ship

When it comes to waste management on a cruise ship, you might be surprised at just how organized and efficient the process is. After all, with thousands of passengers and crew members on board, there’s bound to be quite a bit of waste generated during each voyage. But fear not! Cruise lines have put systems in place to handle this issue. First off, let’s talk about what happens to your trash once you throw it away in your cabin or any other area of the ship. The garbage is collected by the hardworking crew members who make their rounds multiple times per day. They ensure that all waste bins are emptied regularly and that everything is disposed of properly. But where does all this waste go? Well, modern cruise ships are equipped with advanced onboard incinerators that can burn most types of solid waste. These incinerators operate at extremely high temperatures, ensuring complete combustion and minimal environmental impact. However, certain items cannot be safely burned and must be handled differently. For example, hazardous materials like batteries or chemicals are treated separately according to strict regulations. Special procedures are followed to ensure their safe disposal once the ship reaches port. Another important aspect of waste management on a cruise ship is recycling. Most modern vessels have dedicated recycling programs in place for paper products, plastics, glass bottles, aluminum cans, and more. Recycling bins can typically be found throughout the ship so guests can easily separate their recyclable items from regular trash. To further minimize its environmental footprint, some cruise lines have implemented innovative technologies such as wastewater treatment systems. These systems treat graywater (from sinks) and blackwater (from toilets) before discharging them back into the ocean following rigorous purification processes.

Speaking of toilets…you may wonder if saltwater is used in cruise ship toilets instead of fresh water since they’re surrounded by an endless supply! Surprisingly enough though – nope! Freshwater tanks provide the water for flushing toilets and other daily uses on board. Cruise ships have onboard desalination plants to produce fresh water from sea water. All in all, cruise ships are getting better and better when it comes to waste management. With advanced incinerators, dedicated recycling programs, and innovative wastewater treatment systems in place – they’ve made remarkable progress in reducing their environmental impact over the years. So don’t worry, your next cruise vacation won’t leave too much of a footprint!

In this article, we’ve answered some offbeat cruise ship questions that you may have been curious about. We hope that these answers have provided you with a deeper understanding of life on board a cruise ship. Whether it’s the existence of a cruise ship jail or the source of water on board, there are always interesting facts to uncover. One question that often comes up is whether there is a cruise ship jail. While it may sound intriguing, the reality is that most modern cruise ships do not have dedicated jails onboard. Instead, they rely on security personnel and cooperation with authorities at ports of call to handle any legal issues. Another interesting topic is the mortality rate on cruise ships. Contrary to popular belief, the mortality rate on cruises is relatively low compared to other forms of travel or daily life situations. Cruise lines prioritize passenger safety and take measures such as regular drills and medical facilities onboard to ensure a safe environment for everyone. A common confusion arises when distinguishing between ships and boats. Although both terms refer to vessels used for transportation on water, the main difference lies in their size and purpose. Ships are generally larger than boats and are designed for long-distance travel across open waters. You might be wondering what muster drill means during your time aboard a cruise ship. Muster drill refers to an important safety practice where passengers gather at designated locations to familiarize themselves with emergency procedures and learn how to properly use life jackets in case of an evacuation situation. Let’s dive into an interesting story about Bill W, Dorothy, and Jimmy – three significant figures in Alcoholics Anonymous (AA). Bill W attended his last AA meeting aboard a Holland America Line ship before passing away shortly after docking in Miami Beach in 1971. Years later, his wife Dorothy scattered his ashes from another HAL vessel while cruising near Puerto Rico – fulfilling Bill’s wish for his remains “to be spread upon those waters.”

One of the central launching points for Alaska cruises, Seattle, WA is a vibrant and hip city. This contemporary metropolis is home to some of the Pacific Northwest’s most iconic sights and brands. Thus, cruisers will want to seriously consider extending their stay when departing Seattle on an Alaskan cruise. We have put together this guide to the Best Hotels Near the Seattle Cruise Port to help cruisers find the perfect pre-cruise or post-cruise hotel stay. No matter what type of accommodations you prefer, you can certainly find a hotel that is right for your next cruise from the Emerald City.

To compare prices for hotels near the Seattle cruise port , we used prices quoted on each hotel’s website (where applicable). We tested the same night, for two adults, in a standard king bedroom. We picked a pre-cruise stay six months prior to our August sailing and checked prices directly though the hotel’s website.

Seattle Marriott Waterfront

Offering stunning views and proximity to the cruise ports, the Seattle Marriott Waterfront is the perfect choice for extending your stay in the city. The hotel’s location is within walking distance of landmarks including Pike Place and the Seattle Aquarium. Although, given the hotel’s over-sized rooms, we wouldn’t blame you if you decide to stay in and prepare for your Alaskan adventure. These approximately 300 sq feet rooms come fully furnished with a separate sitting area, work station, and flat screen television.

No matter what the temperature is outside, you can always relax in the hotel’s heated indoor/outdoor connected pool. Also, at the hotel’s main restaurant, Hook and Plow, travelers can partake in Pacific Northwest-inspired cuisine of locally sourced seafood and steaks. Don’t forget to sample a drink from the restaurant’s extensive list of craft beers and regional wines.

For our test night, a king room with a partial view came in at $409. This rate does not include internet or parking. Both will cost you extra. However, given the hotel’s 4.0 rating on TripAdvisor  (with over 1800 reviews), the Seattle Marriott Waterfront is indeed worth the price tag. Previous guests boast about the hotel’s waterfront location and dining options. Cruisers will need to arrange for transportation to and from the airport, but if departing from Pier 66 can easily walk from the hotel which is a few blocks from this cruise port.

The maxwell.

If you are looking for a hotel that embodies the chic, urban lifestyle of Seattle, look no further than The Maxwell Hotel . This Stay Pineapple brand hotel is perfectly positioned around the corner from the Space Needle, at the base of Queen Anne Hill. Once you step foot in the door, you will realize that the Maxwell is a funky departure from the typical brand name hotels. From the bold, bright colors in the public areas, to the artfully designed hotel rooms, The Maxwell is a welcomed change from the pale palette you might find in other hotels.

Rooms include high-end furnishings like the Naked Experience bedding and luxury bath products. Other perks include unlimited bottled water, WiFi, a Keurig coffee machine, and a 50″ flat screen with the company’s streaming television service. Guests will always be prepared for the rainy weather with a complimentary over-sized umbrella to use during their stay and can head out to explore for the day on one of the complimentary “beach cruisers”. Travelers can also take advantage of the hotel’s city shuttle to get to and from local attractions; however, this shuttle service can not be used to get to and from the airport or the cruise port.

King Bed Room – Courtesy of Pineapple Hospitality Company

For our test night, a king room clocked in at $359 a night. This is a steal considering all of the amenities included in the price. It is no wonder that the hotel has a 4.5 TripAdvisor rating with over 2,880 reviews. Past guests rave about the hotel’s quirky decor, friendly staff, and those little extra perks, like afternoon coffee and mini-cupcakes. Self-Parking is available for an additional cost, and cruisers will need to find transportation to and from the airport as well as the cruise port on departure day.

The Holiday Inn Express & Suites

Providing you with a great location and plenty of included amenities, the Holiday Inn Express and Suites Seattle Center will help you keep your travel budget in check. For our test night, the hotel’s King Room priced in at $243 with a non-refundable advance purchase rate. The price is an excellent value as it includes high-speed internet along with the brand’s complimentary hot breakfast. Additional onsite benefits included an indoor heated pool and a fitness center.

All rooms feature essentials such as a separate workstation, flat screen television, mini-fridge, and microwave, as well as a standard bathroom. A separate in-room sink and mirror will make getting ready in the morning more convenient for couples and families. With over 800 TripAdvisor reviews , the hotel has a solid 3.5 rating with many past guests praising the hotel’s location and reasonable prices.

Speaking of location, the hotel is located within a 15-minute walking distance to popular city attractions like the Space Needle, Museum of Pop Culture, and Chihuly Gardens and Glass. It is also about a 15 minute walk away from Pier 66 and less than a 15 minute taxi ride to Pier 91. The hotel’s shuttle offers transport to and from the airport for $35. Cruise port transfers will run you between $6-8, and self-parking will cost you about $21 a night. Still, this is one of the best deals that you will find for economy lodging in the area.

The Edgewater

If you are looking for that upscale, woodsy feeling of the Pacific Northwest, then you will feel right at home at  the Edgewater Hotel . This hotel claims to be the “only luxury hotel on the water”. One block from Pier 66, you are a stone’s throw away from your departure point if you are sailing with Norwegian Cruise Line or Oceania Cruises.

Cozy up to the fireplace as you relax in your king bedroom overlooking the Olympic Mountains. Enjoy a spa-inspired bathroom that was recently renovated to feature slate flooring, an over-sized shower, and marble countertops. Along with the usual amenities like a fitness center and WiFi, the resort fee includes some Seattle-inspired add-ons. Chief among this list is access to bicycles and even guitars with sheet music and record players for guests to enjoy while staying at the hotel.

Go all out as you celebrate your pre-cruise stay by indulging in the hotel’s award-winning restaurant, Six Seven Seattle. The restaurant features locally sourced ingredients coupled with stunning views making it the perfect location for a couple of pre-dinner drinks or a delightful sunset dinner.

King Room at The Edgewater – Courtesy of Noble House Hotels and Resorts

These luxuries do come at a rather steep price. For our test night, the least expensive Garden View King priced in at $463 a night, not including the $16 resort fee. Parking will also cost you an additional $45 a night. Plus, you will have to dig further into your pockets for transportation to and from the airport and cruise port. Although, with a TripAdvisor rating of 4.0 and close to 4,000 reviews, it is safe to say that investing in a stay at the Edgewater will be money well spent.

The Mayflower Park

For cruisers looking for some charm and sophistication, you should check-in to the Mayflower Park Hotel . Tradition and service combine to offer guests a regal experience in this downtown hotel. A recent honoree for best historic hotels, you can expect to find a unique and distinctly Seattle feel at this hotel. The dedicated staff will surely deliver a level of service you are probably accustomed to if you are a frequent cruiser. The hotel is located right in the middle of the action within walking distance to most major attractions.

Courtesy of Mayflower Park Hotel

Every guest room features classic furnishings with “traditional Queen Anne style” amenities. That is not to say that the rooms are outdated, as all rooms come equipped with recent technologies including complimentary high-speed internet throughout the property, flat screen televisions, in-room coffee makers, and a modern-day RFID entry system. The onsite lounge offers daily specials and hosts a happy hour with complimentary appetizers Monday through Saturday.

For our test night, the king bedroom came in at $384 a night. Parking will cost you $35, and you will need to find transportation to and from the airport and cruise port. The hotel maintains a solid 4.5 TripAdvisor rating with 2,350 reviews touting the hotels historic class and decor, service, and onsite restaurant and lounge.

The Alexis Hotel

Another award-winning option for travelers looking for a mix of classic Seattle and modern flare is the Alexis Hotel . This Kimpton hotel combines the brand’s upscale, trendy style and service with a historic twist. The Alexis Hotel has been ranked as one of the top hotels in Seattle by several travel publications. With its 4.5 Tripadvisor rating  and over 2,100 reviews, it seems to be clear that the hotel delivers on its promise to wow guests.

Courtesy of Kimpton Hotel & Restaurant Group, LLC

Housed in a historic building dating back to 1901, the Alexis hotel maintains a 20th-century aura while incorporating 21st-century amenities. This seamless blending of modern and historic will not make you feel outdated. For instance, each room comes with a pre-programmed Amazon dot to help you stay informed during your stay. This boutique hotel brand also provides additional luxuries including complimentary morning coffee and tea service. Don’t forget to save time for the hosted wine reception in the evening as well.

In your stylish room, you will find premiere bath products and plush goose-down bedding, as well as small details and polished finishes like crown molding that give the place its character. For our test night, a standard king bedroom priced in at $605 for the non-refundable rate. Additional costs include $43 a night for valet parking. Transportation to and from the airport and the cruise port will be extra as well. But, if you are looking to make your stay in Seattle memorable, the Alexis Hotel is worth the upgrade.

These articles are so informative and helpful. Our family is planning on going on an Alaskan cruise out of Seattle in the next two years and this really helped us out. Thank you so much.

Thanks for the comment. We are so glad you find our posts useful. Let us know if you have any other questions. We are happy to help.

One thing people sailing out of Seattle need to remember is that there are two cruise terminals. Bell Street is in the middle of the downtown area. Smith Cove is west of the Queen Anne neighborhood and northwest of Seattle Center and the Space Needle. I know people who mistakenly booked a hotel walking distance from Bell Street, only to figure out the morning of embarkation that they needed to hail a cab to get to Smith Cove.

Thanks for reading Chuck and great point. NCL Sailed from Pier 66 with other cruise lines sailing out of Pier 91. Excellent tip. Happy sailing.

Thanks so much for this bit of info! I had no idea there were two ports!

I’m a huge fan of Trip Advisor and have found MANY helpful people on boards all over. Thanks in advance for any help you can offer. :D We are really looking forward to our (sadly) short stay in your City!

Sheraton, Westin, Hyatt, Paramount , Homewood Suites Pike st are all very good and central to sightseeing.

Thanks David for your reply. The Mr. & I have already decided we'd take the light rail in from SEATAC. We did the EL from Midway to downtown Chicago last summer and were quite pleased with ourselves. :D (In Texas we don't have a lot of public transportation so never use it.) It turned out to be fairly easy and the price was included in our 7 day passes. It left a little more in the budge for 'fun' things and dinners out! :-)

Thanks Rainbird for the GREAT feedback! I've looked at both the Maxwell and Inn at Queen Anne already and will look at your other suggestions as well.

The Mr. & I are looking forward to our stop in Ketchican! We are super excited about seeing Alaska! :D

Thanks Rainbird! I will definitely take you up on your offer to help!

Thanks for the tips on the light rail. We'll definitely use this as our mode of transportation from the airport and any other destination we can make work!

Have a GREAT day! :D

pre cruise hotel seattle

Any of those are convenient to light rail, the downtown free bus route (which may or may not be free when you dome), the monorail, the streetcar, or just walking the downtown core that they are perfect for a two-day pre- cruise stay. I prefer staying in the downtown core, for the sheer convenience of being able to walk to most things. On TA, when looking at hotels, you can click on the map of the area and see exactly where hotels are located in relationship to other activities/sites. I find it a very helpful feature.

Enjoy your trip.

Thanks Island Girl! I've been relying on TA for a few years now and I never keyed in on the mapping feature you described. WoW! It will definitely be beneficial when I make the ultimate decision of where we stay.

What Are The Best Last

If you’re looking for last-minute hotel deals, Expedia has got you covered. You’ll find excellent prices thanks to the thousands of trusted hotel partners we work with throughout the United States. Typically, booking in advance is the best way to get deals, but life doesn’t always offer that luxury. When you’re stuck trying to find a hotel during an unexpected event or you just want to travel on a whim, Expedia offers extensive choices and deals that allow you to plan your ideal trip without having to book months ahead.

Where To Stay Before Or After A Seattle Cruise

If youre coming into the SeaTac airport late and not expecting to do much sightseeing around Seattle, staying near the airport is a good option, as it will be less expensive than staying downtown. The best hotel near SeaTac airport is Cedarbrook Lodge they have an incredible spa and award-winning farm-to-table restaurant. Other good options are the SeaTac Crowne Plaza and Hilton both offer cruise packages with complimentary shuttle service to the cruise terminals.

Staying in downtown Seattle will give you the best opportunity to see the city, and offers easy access to Seattles best attractions. Hotel rates are at their highest during cruise season, however, so dont expect to find many cheap options. Some hotels offer cruise packages that include transport to the terminal, but these are generally not big money-savers, as taxi or Uber fare to the pier is fairly inexpensive and Shuttle Express offers scheduled transport from many downtown hotels to the cruise terminals at a rate of just $12 per person.

If youre sailing on a Norwegian or Oceana cruise that departs from the Bell Street Terminal , The Edgewater and are both within a short walk of the pier.

Things To Do In Seattle Before A Cruise

Seattle offers more than just strong coffee, a temperate climate and fresh seafood. Its two downtown cruise terminals serve as the homeport for seven cruise lines and the embarkation site for more than 200

and Pacific Northwest-bound cruises each year, but even cruisers know theres more to Seattle than that.

Known as the Emerald City for its lush greenery and more than 6,000 acres of in-city parks, Seattle also offers sparkling gems of art, culture, history, dining and entertainment for those lucky enough to have set aside a day to explore the city before or after their cruise.

With three national parks , each just a two-hour drive from the city, a scenic day trip out of town is one highly recommended way to explore the region. But those who stay local will find that many of Seattles most impressive and worthwhile attractions are right downtown , making it easy to pack lots of local adventures into one day.

Whether its your first time in Seattle or youre back for a return visit, weve put together a one-day itinerary that includes many must-see destinations, some insider tips and suggestions for staying caffeinated and fueled up during the day.

Easy Seattle Hotels With Shuttles To The Cruise Ports

Hotel Package Deals

Seattle hotels with cruise port shuttles make getting to your ship much simpler on cruise day. Instead of worrying about taxis or arranging transportation, you can book your room and have your ride to the port also take care of.

And if you are sailing from Seattle, then its also likely that you will need a hotel the night before your cruise. While ports in other parts of the country are within driving distance of many cities, Seattle situated on the West Coast is pretty far from most major cities unless you happen to live in Seattle itself. That means many people decide to fly in for their trip.

Should you want to fly in, its a good idea to arrive at least the day before your cruise departs. Not only is Seattle a wonderful city to visit with lots to see, but if there are any delays such as weather or flight cancellations, you still have plenty of time to reach your ship. Of course, if you are flying in then you also need a place to stay.

Seattle has no shortage of hotels near the cruise ports Pier 66 and Pier 91. And with cruising being big business in the area, many hotels offer perks and incentives to attract cruise passengers. One of those perks is transportation to the cruise port. Stay a night, and they will offer to arrange a shuttle to your ship, usually for a small fee.

missydarlin The waterfront Marriott is the closest, but really anywhere downtown would work.

blue_dolphin ^ on the recommendation for a downtown hotel. You can spend a little time Saturday AM wandering around Pikes Place Market and then catch a cab to the cruise terminal. The Inn at the Market has a great location but there are lots of hotels in the area.Ooops just realized you said next Friday so this is probably too late!

Setting sail to Alaska from Seattle, WA next May and looking for hotel suggestions near the cruise port. We will be flying in from Maryland the day before the cruise.

Most downtown hotels are pretty pricy- I stayed at Embassy Suite by the airport, it was about $130 a night. It is a 40 minute ride on light rail to downtown but worth it for the price.

Welcome to the forum. For lots of information about Seattle hotels you will want to check out the West Coast Departures forum. Here is the link:

We stayed at the Mediterranean Inn. It's not right downtown and not quite as expensive, although like all Seattle hotels, still pretty pricey. We took a shuttle from the airport to the hotel and a shuttle the hotel arraigned the next morning to the pier. You can walk to the Space Needle and monorail downtown from there.

Great Review

BostonGal35

we are marriott people so we are staying at the waterfront marriott on alaskan way. its my understanding that the port is directly across the street and you can walk.

garycarla

Downtown is much better than the airport. Being able to walk outside and take in the downtown options is priceless.

If you can get a hotel with access to light rail.. not too bad. FYI - it is a pretty good hike from the terminal to the train/rail at the airport.

livingawarriorlife

We stayed at the SeaTac Fairfield Inn since we are Marriott people. We wanted to be near the airport so that was the cheapest choice for Marriott. Plus all of them downtown seemed pretty expensive. You can take the light rail from the Fairfield for I think $2.50 one way/person but we chose to hire a town car thru the hotel (I think it was $30 each way if you reserve ahead of time). That was way easier than the light rail. Otherwise we would've been lugging our suitcases.

We stay at the Hilton which is within easy walking distance of a lot of sights.

We stayed at Crowne Plaza in downtown Seattle. It is a short walk (down hill) to the Pike Market Place. We got up the next morning and you could see the NCL Jewel from our hotel room. Breakfast was included with the room. The hotel had a free shuttle to the ship. Really enjoyed our short stay there.

Last year we stayed at the Warwick hotel. It was a great location. Close to everything -Pike Market, space needle, ship. Would recommend checking this hotel out. Alaska is amazing mother nature at her finest!

We (and extended family) also stayed at the Warwick - for three nights pre cruise. We had never stayed here before - yet having mentioned to them in correspondence we were travelling for our 20th wedding anniversary - there was a bottle of bubbly and hand made choccies in our room on arrival along with a lovely card. They made us feel so special - exceptional service considering we were first time guests!

Can also recommend their restaurant - Food was very good - and super friendly service.

Managed to get a good deal here via the booking website -

I think quite a few CCers have frequented The Warwick :)

  • 1 month later...

It is awesome. But the rates have doubled since we stayed there in 2013

12 Seattle Cruise Hotels In Easy Walking Distance of the Port

Seattle is a wonderful city to visit and if you are sailing from the port. It’s a shame if you don’t stay for a few days before or after your trip to explore. To help you out, we’ve put together some details on places to stay that are both near the port and within lots to do and see.

pre cruise hotel seattle

All of the hotels listed below are within a mile of the Pier 66 cruise terminal . This places you squarely in downtown, near many of the major attractions that Seattle has to offer. Unfortunately, there are no hotels directly adjacent to Pier 91 , as it is primarily industrial and residential in the adjoining neighborhoods. Still, a short Uber/Lyft ride can get you to the Pier 91 in about 10 minutes.

The honest truth is there are dozens of hotels that meet these requirements. We found nearly 90. For that reason, we’ve looked for the highest-rated hotels in each price point to share. Expect prices to vary. Click each hotel name to see reviews on Kayak.com

Visit our other pages for details on Seattle hotels with cruise parking , budget hotels near the port , and Seattle hotels with cruise shuttles .

High-End Hotels Near Seattle Cruise Port

Seattle Marriott Waterfront Want to be next to the port? We are talking right next to the port. The Seattle Marriott is the closest hotel to Pier 66 and sits right across the street from the cruise pier. Not only are you right at the ship, but you also are in a great location to explore everything in the area and have wonderful views of the bay. Be prepared to spend a little extra for the location.

  • Distance to Port: Across the street
  • Review Rating: 4.5 out of 5

Inn at the Market This hotel occupies a unique niche if you’re staying in Seattle — it’s the only hotel that is located in the famous Pike Place Market (though there are several right nearby). The hotel is small, with only about 75 rooms that look out onto the waterfront. It’s floor-to-ceiling windows will also make sure you have a great view of the bay and the buzzing activity of the city. On cruise day you can easily walk to Pier 66.

  • Distance to Port: 0.5 miles

Hotel 1000 Hotel 1000 is a five-star luxury hotel that’s just a couple of blocks from the waterfront. This is a great location if you want to explore the Seattle Aquarium or the Seattle Art Museum. And did we mention the ability to walk to almost everything, a golf simulator, and a full-service spa?

  • Distance to Port: 0.1 miles

The Edgewater Hotel The Edgewater Hotel might be the most famous hotel in Seattle. It’s where The Beatles stayed in 1964 during their first world tour. As you might guess, it sits right on the waterfront at the pier next to Pier 66. In fact, wake up on cruise morning and you’ll see your ship out the window. The hotel gets great reviews, but just know that the premium location can cost a bit more.

  • Distance to Port: 0.8 miles

Four Seasons The venerable Four Seasons in Seattle has an epic location among the best the city has to offer. It’s just one block from the famous Pike Place market and two blocks from the aquarium. For those who want a room with a view, this is the place. Rooms have sweeping views of the waterfront. Of course, it also offers the service that the Four Seasons is known for.

  • Distance to Port: 0.6 miles

Mid-Range Hotels Near the Seattle Cruise Port

Grand Hyatt If you’re looking for a mainstream luxury hotel without the price tag, then Grand Hyatt might be your answer. The hotel is located on the edge of Seattle’s business district. This makes it a little long of a walk to waterfront attractions, but it still offers plenty of restaurants and activities within a short ride. In addition, the hotel offers plenty within its building, including a Ruth’s Chris Steakhouse and a Starbucks.

  • Price: $$-$$$
  • Distance to Port: 1 mile

The Sound Hotel Seattle A relatively easy half-mile walk to Pier 66, The Sound Hotel is a good option for those that want to be near the port and have a nice place, without spending as much as some higher-end hotels. The hotel features a modern, trendy vibe and includes some rooms with great views of the Space Needle.

The Paramount Hotel The Paramount is in the heart of downtown, putting it a little far from the waterfront. Still, if you are looking for a comfortable place to stay during the busy cruise season, it’s a good choice. Expect all the conveniences of a modern luxury hotel, including a fitness center, contemporary styling, and well-appointed rooms.

Hyatt at Olive 8 The Hyatt at Olive 8 is next door to the Paramount Hotel, putting it somewhat far from Seattle’s famous waterfront and a 10-minute walk from Pike Place Market. Still, there’s lots to see and do nearby. One of the coolest features of the hotel is its indoor pool and spa that look out onto the city. At this spot you’re also a short ride from T-Mobile Park where the Mariners play.

Inexpensive Hotels Near the Seattle Cruise Port

Ace Hotel If you’re like us, then you may not want to spend a ton of money just to get a spot near the port. That’s where places like Ace Hotel come in. The minimalist hotel’s location is just about five blocks from the port, putting you right in the heart of all the city has to offer. It’s unique in that it offer standard rooms with a shared bath (one of the reasons it can be affordable in such a prime location). If you don’t want to share a bathroom, deluxe rooms with private facilities are also available.

  • Distance to Port: 0.3 miles

Kings Inn Kings Inn is a throwback to the old 1960s motor hotel. The rooms are simply appointed an unpretentious. If you’re someone who loves the look and feel of an ultra-modern hotel, then this isn’t the place for you. If, however, you want an inexpensive place to rest your head with a retro vibe… that’s also in a great location, then you may love it.

  • Price: $-$$
  • Distance to Port: 0.7 miles
  • Review Rating: 3.5 out of 5

La Quinta Inn La Quinta — the well-known national chain — offers a cozy spot to stay nearly a straight shot down Bell Street to the Pier 66 cruise terminal. Here you’re right next to a park and main thoroughfares that than get you to the Space Needle, Pacific Science Center, and more. The walk to the port will only take about 20 minutes and is less than a mile. In addition to clean and comfy rooms, wi-fi and breakfast is also included.

  • Review Rating: 4 out of 5

Moore Hotel Staying at a budget hotel doesn’t mean your hotel has to sacrifice being trendy and hip. The Moore Hotel sits in a historic building and has been updated with a clean, minimalist design. It offers a great location, just a few minutes from Pike Place and the port via walking. One thing it doesn’t have is air-conditioning, but most of the weather in Seattle is cool anyway.
