From Feb 27, digital long-term passes will be issued instead of physical cards

long term visit pass card

SINGAPORE – Long-term pass (LTP) cards that can be held and tucked into a wallet will no longer be issued from Feb 27, the Immigration and Checkpoints Authority (ICA) announced on Friday.

Only the digital form will be issued by the ICA for long-term visit, student’s, and dependant’s passes. The dependant’s pass is granted by the Ministry of Social and Family Development. Physical LTPs that were issued before Feb 27 will remain valid till they expire or are cancelled.

LTP holders will be able to access their digital pass through the MyICA mobile app, MyICA e-Service on the ICA website ( ica.gov.sg ), or FileSG, a document-storing platform.

Those who have a Singpass account can also view their LTP on the Singpass app.

Those who do not have a Singpass account can log in using their foreign identification number, date of birth, and unique transaction identification sent to them in the e-mail informing them that their digital LTP is ready for use. They will also be required to provide a one-time password sent to their mobile phone.

ICA has alerted public agencies, schools and foreign missions to the change.

With the digitisation, there will be less need to visit ICA, as applications for the passes can be done online. There will also be no risk of losing or damaging the card.

Additionally, the pass can be downloaded in two formats – a portable document format and OpenAttestation, a platform for verifiable documents.

LTP holders who need help to access or download their digital pass may submit an online feedback form ( ica.gov.sg/feedbackform ) via ICA’s website, failing which they may visit ICA Building on level four for assistance, said ICA.

A Guide to Long-Term Visit Pass (LTVP) and Long-Term Visit Pass-Plus (LTVP+)

What is the difference between a Long-Term Visit Pass (LTVP) and Long Term Visit Pass-Plus (LTVP+) in Singapore? This guide explains it.

What Is the Long-Term Visit Pass (LTVP)?

Long-Term Visit Pass (LTVP) and Long-Term Visit Pass-Plus (LTVP+)

If a pass holder earns more than $12,000 monthly, they may apply for an LTVP for their parents. The LTVP must be applied by an employer or an approved employment agency. An LTVP has a validity period of 2 years and may be eligible for renewal if all the conditions are met.

Foreign worker quotas and levies don’t apply to the LTVP. The fee for an LTVP application is $105. Once the LTVP has been issued, there is a fee of $225 for each pass issued. Multiple Journey Visas will cost $30 if applicable.

LTVPs are generally approved within 3 weeks.

Eligibility Criteria For the LTVP

Those applying for an LTVP for their family members must fulfil certain criteria before they apply. The main applicant must be an EP or S Pass holder. They must also earn a fixed monthly income of $6,000 individually (not combined household income).

An established company in Singapore must sponsor LTVP applicants and EP and S Pass holders. An employer or approved employment agency can apply for the LTVP on your behalf.

Documents You Need to Submit for An LTVP

Applicants of an LTVP must submit several documents for approval . You will need copies of your passport details and your birth and marriage certificate. Additional documents must be submitted depending on the family member applying.

A common-law spouse must submit a common-law marriage certificate. The work pass holder must also submit an affidavit that declares the spouses are in a common-law relationship. The laws in their home country must recognise this relationship. Common-law spouses must also submit a letter from the embassy of their home country that acknowledges the legitimacy of the relationship.

Unmarried handicapped children above the age of 21 years, a medical report or letter regarding the child’s condition.

Unmarried stepchildren under the age of 21 years must submit a copy of the court order regarding the custody of the child. A letter from the biological parent must also be submitted. The letter must state that there are no objections to the child coming to Singapore.

Children under the age of 12 years must submit a Verification of Vaccination Requirements (for entry into Singapore).

EP and S Pass holders need to submit a copy of their birth certificate if they are applying for an LTVP for their parents. The birth certificate should contain the names of both parents.

Can I Renew My LTVP?

An LTVP may be eligible for renewal. However, renewals are not always guaranteed. All applications will be evaluated individually based on the current eligibility criteria.

LTVP passes can be renewed up to 6 months before expiry. Applicants are encouraged to apply before the expiry date. If you miss the renewal deadline, you must apply for a new pass altogether. All renewals can be done online via EP Online.

How to Cancel A LTVP

Employers can cancel a Long-Term Visit Pass if the LTVP holder does not need it anymore. Once the pass has been cancelled the card must be cut up immediately. If the LTVP holder needs to stay a little longer, a request must be submitted one week before the Short-Term Visit Pass (STVP) expires.

Cancellations can be submitted up to 14 days in advance. Cancellations are usually made because the LTVP holder is leaving Singapore or if they become a Permanent Resident.

Before the LTVP is cancelled, employers must purchase a ticket for them to leave Singapore. Employers must also pay for any connecting transportation costs unless the LTVP agrees to bear the cost themselves in writing. Employers must check and ensure the LTVP holder complies with all the pre-Covid requirements. If they don’t, they may not be allowed to travel.

Cancellations are made by logging into the myMOM portal.

Notifying MOM of Changes

If there are any changes to the details originally submitted with MOM, you must notify MOM of the changes. This includes any changes in residential address or personal particulars.

Reporting Lost, Stolen, or Damaged Cards

Lost, stolen, or damaged cards must be replaced. Requests for a replacement card must be done within 1 week. If a card is stolen, a police report must be made. a fee of $60 will apply to replace the card. The fee to replace a lost card is $100. Subsequent losses will incur a fee of $300.

What About the Long-Term Visit Pass-Plus (LTVP+)?

On the other hand, the Long-Term Visit Pass-Plus (LTVP+) is for foreign spouses of Singapore citizens or Permanent Residents. If a foreign spouse of a citizen submits an LTVP application, they will immediately be eligible for LTVP+ and considered if they meet all the conditions.

LTVP+ gives the spouses of Singaporean citizens more certainty and a longer stay period in the country. Once approved, an LTVP+ has a validity period of 3 years. If eligible for renewal, the LTVP+ holder can stay for 5 years.

The added benefit an LTVP+ has over the regular LTVP is that the LTVP+ holders are eligible for employment and healthcare benefits. Employers of the LTVP+ holders can apply for a Letter of Consent (LOC) via EP Online on the Ministry of Manpower (MOM)’s website.

LOCs are not included in the foreign manpower quota. This means that foreign worker levies are not applicable for LOC holders too.

Eligibility Criteria for LTVP+ Holders

Couples must provide evidence of either three years of marriage to a foreign spouse or one Singaporean child from their marriage to be eligible.

Applications are processed within 7 working days.

There is one place in Michigan where you can see the total solar eclipse

Luna pier will experience total solar eclipse in april 2024.

Kayla Clarke , Senior Web Producer

MONROE COUNTY, Mich. – There is only one place in Michigan where people will be able to experience the total solar eclipse.

There is a sliver of Monroe County, the Luna Pier area, that lands in the path of totality for the 2024 total solar eclipse. The Moon will completely cover the Sun in that area for approximately 19 seconds on Monday, April 8, 2024.

---> Why you probably shouldn’t go to this Michigan city to watch April 8 solar eclipse

According to NASA, the eclipse will begin at 1:57 p.m. Total coverage will begin at 3:13:05 p.m. and last until 3:13:24 p.m. The partial eclipse will end at 4:26 p.m.

Places in the path of totality will see the sky become dark, as if it were dawn or dusk. People who only experience a partial solar eclipse will see the sky appear slightly darker than it was before depending on their location.

This is the last solar eclipse visible in the Contiguous United States until 2044. The path of totality is where people will be able to see the Moon completely cover the Sun. It’s about 100 miles wide.

An interactive map put out by NASA lets people put in their zip code to see how much eclipse coverage to expect and what time the eclipse will be at its peak.

---> View: NASA’S Eclipse Explorer interactive map

Even at 99% coverage, there is still enough sunlight to hurt your eyes. So you’ll want to make sure you have eclipse glasses or another form of eye safety. NASA has more information on eye safety online.

Former U.S. Rep. William Delahunt of Massachusetts has died at age 82

long term visit pass card

Longtime U.S. Rep. William D. Delahunt of Massachusetts, a Democratic stalwart who postponed his own retirement from Washington to help pass former President Barack Obama’s legislative agenda , has died following a long-term illness, his family announced.

Delahunt died Saturday at his home in Quincy, Massachusetts, at the age of 82, news reports said.

Delahunt served 14 years in the U.S. House of Representatives , from 1997 to 2011, for Massachusetts’s 10th congressional district. He also was the Norfolk County district attorney from 1975 to 1996 after serving in the Massachusetts House of Represenatives from 1973 to 1975.

The Delahunt family issued a statement Saturday saying he passed away “peacefully,” but did not disclose his specific cause of death, news reports said.

“While we mourn the loss of such a tremendous person, we also celebrate his remarkable life and his legacy of dedication, service, and inspiration,” the statement said. “We could always turn to him for wisdom, solace and a laugh, and his absence leaves a gaping hole in our family and our hearts.”

Democratic U.S. Sen. Ed Markey of Massachusetts lauded Delahunt’s long public service as a legislator in the nation’s capital and a prosecutor in the county south of Boston.

“I met with Bill in Quincy in February, and he was clear and as committed as ever to working on behalf of the South Shore and the people of Massachusetts,” Markey said in a statement. “It is a fitting honor that the door of the William D. Delahunt Norfolk County Courthouse opens every day so that the people inside can do the hard work of making lives better, as Bill Delahunt did. The Commonwealth and the country are better for Bill Delahunt’s vision and service.”

President Nicolás Maduro of Venezuela posted a statement on X, formerly Twitter, mourning Delahunt’s passing. As a member of Congress, Delahunt brokered a 2005 deal with then-Venezuelan President Hugo Chavez to obtain heating oil for low-income Massachusetts residents, according to news reports. Delahunt also attended Chavez’s state funeral in Caracas in March 2013.

Delahunt stepped down from the U.S. House in January 2011. He told The Boston Globe he had previously considered retirement, but fellow veteran Bay State legislator Sen. Edward M. Kennedy convinced him he was needed to help pass Obama’s legislative initiatives at the time.

Delahunt was an early Obama backer, becoming the first member of the Massachusetts congressional delegation to endorse the Illinois senator’s presidential bid, according to reporting by The Patriot Ledger, the newspaper in Delahunt’s hometown, Quincy.

Announcing his retirement in March 2010, Delahunt said Kennedy’s death the previous year turned his thoughts to finding time for priorities beyond Washington.

“It became clear that I wanted to spend my time, the time that I have left, with my family, with my friends and with my loved ones,” Delahunt said.
