Everything You Need to Know About A Perfect Circle, Puscifer, and Primus 2024 Tour

The tour , entitled “ Sessanta ,” begins on Keenan’s actual birthday (April 17th) with a performance at the Talking Stick Resort Amphitheatre in Phoenix, Arizona, and concludes with a two-night stand at the legendary Red Rocks Amphitheatre in Morrison, Colorado, on April 25th-26th.

Maynard is planning a “birthday month” in April 2024, similar to how he celebrated his 50th birthday with a crossover performance event titled “Cinquanta” in 2014.

Maynard James Keenan shared a statement about the tour:

“It took some massaging and some long days in rehearsal. But we managed to seamlessly pull off this three-song rotation at Cinquanta, my 50th birthday shows, at The Greek Theatre in 2014. Bands aren’t used to simultaneously sharing the stage with other bands, but if anyone can do it, it’s Primus, A Perfect Circle, and Puscifer. Kind of like ‘We Are the World’ without the bleachers and plastic surgery.”

In addition to this press statement, they added:

“Sessanta’s unique format sees the musicians from the trio of bands joining each other’s performances throughout the concert. While each group will have their own distinctive set, the players will continually transform as the night unfolds.”

Reminding : The upcoming shows are also A Perfect Circle’s first since 2018.

Also before this “ Sessanta ” tour, Maynard James Keenan will join Tool on a Fall 2023 North American tour , which kicks off October 3rd in Loveland, Colorado, and is preceded by a headline appearance on September 22nd at Lousville’s Louder Than Life festival.

In 2018, A Perfect Circle released their critically lauded fourth album, “ Eat the Elephant “. It was the band’s first release since eMOTIVe in 2004. The album, which included the breakthrough lead song “The Doomed,” debuted at No. 3 on the Billboard 200 and topped the Rock and Alternative charts. The ensuing tour marked their final live appearances.

“ Existential Reckoning ” by Puscifer will be released in October 2020 via Alchemy Recordings/BMG. The critically regarded album reached No. 7 on Billboard’s Top Alternative Albums chart. On this tour, they are extensively pushing the record, and the crowd response has been very positive. Due to tremendous demand, the group expanded the tour to include other international locations.

In March, Puscifer released Existential Reckoning: Re-Wired, a reimagining of their current blockbuster album. Daniel Martin Diaz created the album’s cover art, and special guests include Trent Reznor and Atticus Ross (Nine Inch Nails), Troy Van Leeuwen (Queens of the Stone Age), Phantogram, and others.

Also, Primus completed their massive Rush tribute tour called A Tribute to Kings , last summer. Primus performed Rush’s iconic 1977 album A Farewell to Kings throughout the tour. The Desaturating Seven, Primus’ most recent studio album, was released in 2017. The album peaked at number three on Billboard’s Top Rock Albums list and number two on the Top Alternative Albums chart.

Maynard James Keenan to Turn 60 With Collaborative Puscifer, A Perfect Circle + Primus 2024 Tour

You only turn 60 once, and Maynard James Keenan plans to make it into a full-fledged concert celebration. Announcing the limited-run "Sessanta" tour, Keenan's bands Puscifer and A Perfect Circle will team with friends Primus for several nights of interloping performances.

Yes, that's right! Maynard is celebrating his "birthday month" in April 2024, doing it up similarly to how he celebrated his 50th birthday with a crossover concert celebration that was dubbed "Cinquanta" back in 2014.

The unique format of the show finds musicians from all three bands joining each other's performances throughout the evening, and while each group has their own distinctive set, the assisting players will come and go throughout the evening.

“It took some massaging, and some long days in rehearsal, but we managed to seamlessly pull off this three-song rotation at Cinquanta, my 50th birthday shows, at The Greek Theatre in 2014,” says Keenan of the seven-date run that also sees A Perfect Circle’s first live performances since 2018. “Bands aren’t used to simultaneously sharing the stage with other bands, but if anyone can do it, it’s Primus, A Perfect Circle, and Puscifer.”

Keenan, as he's prone to do, adopted another persona for a humorous promo video for the limited-run tour. In it, he plays up his elderly age forgetting the name of A Perfect Circle and noting that the shows are "kind of like 'We Are the World' without the bleachers and plastic surgery."

A Perfect Circle, Primus, Puscifer Add Dates to 2024 Tour

The bands are bringing their collaborative Sessanta to the East Coast and Southern U.S.

After previously announcing a string of West Coast tour dates, A Perfect Circle, Primus, and  Puscifer  have added a few East Coast and Southern shows to their Sessanta Tour next spring. All three storied acts will be performing together, on stage at the same time, during the exclusive run of shows. The event will also see each group perform their own distinctive sets, but the players will continually transform as the night unfolds.

“Although I am slowly going deaf with all the rock song touring, and the aging and what not, the thunderous cacophony of whining and crying from the places we aren’t playing Sessanta was heard loud and clear,” A Perfect Circle’s Maynard James Keenan states. “But instead of being a grumpy old fart and calling you all a Waahhhmnulance, we decided to book a few more shows.”

More dates are set to be announced soon. Tickets for the newly announced dates are go on sale this Friday, October 6 at 10am local time HERE . VIP options are also available.

The shows are in celebration of A Perfect Circle and Puscifer singer Maynard James Keenan’s 60th birthday. Artists Zoltron and Zombie Yeti designed the poster art for the tour. Prints will most likely be available at the merchandise booths. Check out the design below.

A Perfect Circle released their acclaimed fourth album  Eat the Elephant  in 2018. It marked the band’s first release since 2004’s  eMOTIVe . Maynard James Keenan announced plans to launch an untraditional 2024 tour celebrating his 60th birthday with Primus, Puscifer and A Perfect Circle joining forces and sharing band members on Wednesday, April 17, at Talking Stick Resort Amphitheatre in Phoenix.

Presented by Puscifer Entertainment, the event is called Sessanta. It's a resurrection and expansion of the 2014 Los Angeles event, Cinquanta , a one-time-only celebration to commemorate Keenan’s 50th birthday.

Fan-Filmed Footage From A Perfect Circle, Primus & Puscifer’s ‘Sessanta Tour’ Kickoff Available

The ‘ Sessanta ‘ tour kicked off at the Boch Center in Boston, MA yesterday, April 02nd. That event serves as a traveling celebration of the 60th birthday of acclaimed vocalist/entrepreneur Maynard James Keenan . While rising to fame as the frontman for Tool , Keenan has since branched out musically with A Perfect Circle and Puscifer . It is the latter two outfits, along with the kindred spirits in Primus , who have undertaken this special tour, which finds members of each band sharing the stage everynight for collaborative sets.

Last week saw the release of an EP, “ Sessanta E.P.P.P. “, which commemorates the tour. All three of the aforementioned artists contributed new songs to that, all of which were co-written by Keenan himself. That EP was also performed in full as well during last night’s proceedings. Special vinyl pressings of it are available during each stop of the tour.

A PERFECT CIRCLE, PRIMUS and PUSCIFER's Sessanta tour kickoff: See setlist and videos

Maynard James Keenan's Sessanta celebrations kicked off in grand fashion last night (April 2nd). The three-way, collaborative package tour featuring A Perfect Circle , Puscifer and Primus brought Boston's excellently named Wang Theatre an epic taste of each project, not to mention their recent collaborative Sessanta E.P.P.P.

As expected, the bands took turns performing throughout the night, with A Perfect Circle starting things off, Primus taking the second slot, and Puscifer cleaning up the first round. They didn't exactly stick to that formation, though, as you can see through the mega-sized, 29-song setlist (courtesy of Setlist.fm ) below.

The Sessanta tour's collaborative spirit saw Keenan jumping onstage to help Primus through the iconic, slap-metal funkiness of "Tommy the Cat," while Primus drummer Tim "Herb" Alexander leant two hands to A Perfect Circle on "The Hollow," and Les Claypool — wearing his finest Pork Soda mask — bowed his way through Puscifer's "Grand Canyon."

The show notably marked the live debuts of APC's "Kindred," Puscifer's "No Angel" and Primus' "Pablo's Hippos," the three tracks off the Sessanta E.P.P.P.

As is his way, Keenan asked concertgoers not to take photos or videos throughout the show, but he did finally grant folks permission to film and photograph the finale performance of Puscifer's "Grand Canyon." Watch fan-shot videos above and below.

Maynard James Keenan talks 60th birthday show with Puscifer, A Perfect Circle and Primus

After touring with his rock band Tool for more than a year, front man Maynard James Keenan is about to embark on his "Sessanta" tour to celebrate his 60th birthday.

We asked him if it was hard coming off the Tool tour and going straight into another, very different one.

"Correction," he told The Tennessean during a recent phone interview. "I was on the road with Puscifer and Tool for about two straight years. We had two new albums that got interrupted by Covid, so we had to catch up with both of them starting at the end of 2021."

So is it hard to go from those tours to this one, which puts Puscifer and A Perfect Circle (Keenan's other band) with Primus for a run of shows where all three bands will play together and separate? If it's anything like his Cinquanta show held in L.A. for his 50th, fans will be talking about it for years.

"No, I think you just pay attention to where you are in the moment," he said. "You have to have the conversations with the people in front of you. It's no different than going to a class reunion or family reunion. You just speak with your day-to-day friends. The conversation shifts almost without effort."

His favorite part of a show like this? The look on people's faces when he explains what is about to happen.

"They look at you like, 'you mean several egos are going to share the same space and not collide?'" That's exactly what's about to happen at Franklin's FirstBank Amphitheater on April 10. And Keenan doesn't mess around when he says the beginning of the show is the beginning of the show.

"Show up on time," he said. "There is no opener. Don't show up 30 or 45 minutes into the show and the be mad because you missed some Perfect Circle songs."

Bands release an E.P.P.P.

Puscifer, A Perfect Circle and Primus have released  " Sessanta E.P.P.P. ," or a three-song release with a name that's a play on the three Ps in Puscifer, Perfect Circle and Primus. The March 29 release features one new song from each band with all three tracks co-written by Keenan.

Keenan said the songs started as napkin sketches that were farmed out to each band. He recorded vocals on all three.

The EP, which will be performed live on the upcoming dates, is available digitally and on vinyl, with pre-orders available now at sessantalivecom .

When asked if any special guests might show up and jam with the bands, Keenan jokes that because working with musicians is a bit like "herding cats" there's no real way to tell who might show up. "Musicians are completely unreliable, so you have to wait until the last minute."

But it is Nashville where so many cats can be herded.

"I wanted Dolly Parton, but she wasn't available."

Did you really reach out to her?

"No, but I will. It would be a dream come true for me. I'm a huge, huge, huge fan."

Tool is one of the most commercially successful hard rock/metal bands in the world. They’ve held that title for decades, even though they’re not the most prolific. Actually, they’re far from it, as they’ve been known to space out their albums by many years, which can frustrate their fans. In a new interview, the group’s lead singer Maynard James Keenan explained why they wait so long between their projects, and he was pretty candid about the oft-discussed topic.

“Tool is a more complicated beast with a lot of egos,” Keenan stated bluntly in a new feature with Metal Hammer magazine. The rocker’s band isn’t the only one that comes with baggage or members who have outsized egos–that’s simply part of rock and roll—but at least he’s honest about how that can affect the group’s output.

Keenan wasn’t shy about sharing that the members of Tool have their tough times when they work together, which is partially to blame for their slow schedule of releases. “As soon as we get past the arguments, we can get shit done,” he joked. He made sure to soften the comments by adding, “But all the creativity’s there, the songs and the ideas can flow and the arguments ensue.”

The superstar also commented that he and his Tool bandmates have discussed this issue, and it’s something they’re working on. They don’t intend on allowing fans to wait much longer before giving them new music… or at least that’s how it seems based on the interview.

“I think we could do it more efficiently,” Keenan confessed. “And I think everyone’s on the same page that we have to get through that, because we can’t drag this out another 14 years.”

Tool last released an album in 2019, when Fear Inoculum debuted at No. 1 on charts all around the world, including in the U.S. The set marked their first proper full-length since 2006’s 10,000 Days , another chart-topper. That 13-year gap was the longest in their career, and it’s the one that raised the most eyebrows in the music industry and among their followers.

The band released their debut album Undertow in 1993. Since then, they’ve only dropped five full-lengths, which is a very slow pace for one of the biggest acts in any genre. At the moment, Tool is preparing for a tour throughout the U.K. this spring. No word yet on another project–it has been half a decade since the last one–but based on Keenan’s statements in the interview, it appears that his goal is to deliver something to fans sooner, rather than later.

Dream Theater announce UK and Europe dates for 40th Anniversary tour

US prog mteal giants Dream Theater will tour Europe and the UK in October and November

US prog metal giants Dream Theater have announced the Europen and UK legs of their 40th Anniversary World Tour, which takes place in October and November, running into 2025 for the US and the rest of the world.

The tour includes an opening night at the O2 Arena in London on October 20 and runs through to Amsterdam's AFAS Live on November 24.

The tour - presented as An Evening With Dream Theater - is the first outing since drummer Mike Portnoy returned to the band's line-up last year, joining his old bandmates, vocalist James LaBrie, bassist John Myung, guitarist John Petrucci, and keyboardist Jordan Rudess.

“This tour is going to be incredibly special for all of us," the band exclaim. "Each show will surely be filled with anticipation and a variety of emotions. We can’t wait to step on stage together once again and begin this historic celebration of 40 years with everyone this Fall. This is just the beginning, and we will have plenty of more exciting Dream Theater news to share in the coming months."

Portnoy recently announced that he had completed his drum parts for the band's new studio album which they've been working on, stating, "yes indeed, my drums for #DT16 are done!”.

The band are continuing to work on the new, untitled album, which will be their first with Portnoy since the release of  Black Clouds & Silver Linings  in 2009.
