2024 Presidents Cup Play Dates

May 3-5, Round Robin May 17-19, Semis and Finals

May 31-June 2 Rain Date

June 14-18, Midwest Presidents Cup (Sioux Falls, SD)

July 12-16, Nationals (Wichita, Kansas)

The Presidents Cup brings together quality teams in Ohio to decide who will be crowned Champion.

It is the official qualifying tournament in Ohio for the US Youth Soccer Midwest Presidents Cup. Should teams become regional champions there, they are then qualified to participate in the US Youth Soccer National Presidents Cup.

Ages: U11 – U19, Boys and Girls

Timeframe: Presidents Cup is held over the course of two weekends in May. The Round Robin occurs during the first weekend of May and Semis/Finals during the third weekend of May.  If we run into weather issues across any date/location, we may have to push to the next available Presidents Cup play date.  Please keep all play dates and rain dates open on your schedule.

Eligibility Requirements:

  • All eligible teams must play in a sanctioned OSA League for the current seasonal year.
  • All current National League or Regional League teams and players are not eligible for this event – they must play in State Cup.
  • Ohio Soccer State League teams may play in State Cup or Presidents Cup Division 1, but may not play in Presidents Cup Division 2 (see State Cup eligibility for National or Regional League consideration).

Recommendations: The Division 1 event is focused on those teams seeking to play in the second highest level of State competition with the potential to advance to the US Youth Soccer Midwest Presidents Cup (Regionals).  The Division 2 event is focused on those teams who wish to participate in a state run event but do not wish to advance to a Regional event.

Important Rules: Roster freeze dates, club pass players allowed, play-in games will be used to achieve even brackets of four (Division 1 only).

Important Communications

We regularly send updates and information to club admins and teams involved in our Presidents Cup event. Below is a list of them for reference:

Event Rostering Information for All Teams and Play in Game Reminders -Sent March 8th

Presidents Cup event rosters & gameday information

We will be using GotSport for the Presidents Cup event rosters this year. Please see information below on how to submit and deadlines for completion.

Event Roster Deadlines and Freeze Dates

For teams with a play in game, event rosters must be submitted a minimum of seven business days prior to your play in game.  This will give us a chance to double check for errors or missing rosters/information prior to the freeze.  Event rosters are frozen three business days prior to your first game and will remain frozen through the State Cup Finals. (If you play on a Friday evening, Saturday, or Sunday, this means your event roster will freeze at 5pm on Tuesday ) If you have any changes between your submission date and the freeze date, you will make the changes in GotSport, re-submit any new uploads of rosters in GotSport, and then teams will need to re-submit the event roster submission form marking it as a change for re-approval.

For teams who do not have a play in game , event rosters must be submitted by no later than April 22nd at 10am .  Event Rosters are frozen three business days prior to your first Presidents Cup game which will be Tuesday, April 30th at 5pm if your team’s first game is on the RR weekend.  Event rosters are then frozen through the Presidents Cup Finals.  If you have any changes between your submission due date and the freeze date, you will make the changes in GotSport, re-submit any new uploads of rosters in GotSport, and then re-submit the event roster submission form marking it as a change for re-approval.  If you are trying to card a brand new player for addition to your league roster before you can add them to your event roster, please contact your league for the latest date/time you must submit your carding information in order to meet the event roster freeze date.

Steps to Submit your Event Roster

Step 1- Login to GotSport and build your event roster.  Use walkthrough instructions below.  Please note that jersey numbers are required.

Step 2-  Upload your OSA League Roster(s) into GotSport using the walkthrough instructions below.  Please note there is one upload space for your original team’s OSA roster and one upload space for the OSA rosters of your club pass players.  If you have club pass players coming from more than one team, you will have to scan them into one club pass roster attachment before uploading.

Step 3 – Once the first two steps have been completed, please submit the  Presidents Cup Event Roster Submission Form

Event Rostering/Uploading Documents Instructions for Coaches and Team Managers

  • Add players/coaches as a coach/manager
  • Upload documents as a coach/manager

If you already have a roster in the GotSport system from other events that you want to use, here  is how a coach/team manager can clone an event roster.

Event Rostering/Uploading Documents Instructions for Club Administrators

  • Add players/coaches as a club admin
  • Upload documents as a club admin

If you are already have a roster in GotSport, here  is how a club admin can clone an event roster.

Eligible Players/Club Pass Players

Club pass players may be used for Presidents Cup.  Players must be rostered to a team within your club that is an Ohio Soccer/USYS carded team.  Players may only appear on one event roster across all three OSA Cup Series events (State Cup and Presidents Cup).  They may not play for any other team in any other Cups Series event. All club pass players will need to be entered into the Presidents Cup event roster in Demosphere by your club administrator prior to the Presidents Cup roster freeze date.

Roster Maximums for Players & Coaches

The maximum number of players on the event roster for 9v9 is 18, but only 16 players may be game active.  The maximum number of players on the event roster for 11v11 is 22, but only 18 players may be listed as game active.  Players who are listed on the event roster but are not game active may still sit on the bench but cannot be dressed to play.

A minimum of 2 and a maximum of 4 coaches can be listed on your event roster.  All coaches must have an OSA/USYS coach card to be on the team sideline.

Gameday Rosters

For Play-in games, gameday rosters will be emailed to both teams 2 business days prior to your game.  Both teams should print the gameday roster and take to the game.  After the game, the winning team should collect both teams’ gameday rosters (each signed by the referee) and email those to [email protected] within 24 hours of the game.

For the Round Robin and Semis/Finals weekend, OSA will print all game cards and distribute to the referees prior to the game.  OSA will also collect the gameday rosters from the referees after the game.

Items Teams Need to Bring to Games

  • Game Day Rosters (for play in games only)
  • Referee Payment (for play in games only)
  • Physical plastic/laminated OSA Player and Coach cards for every player and coach on the game day roster and sideline

For questions regarding the items above, please feel free to email [email protected] or call our South Office at 513-576-9555.

Policy & Other Resources

  • OSA Presidents Cup Policy
  • US Youth Soccer Presidents Cup Rules 2023-24
  • US Youth Soccer Policy on National Presidents Cup

Girls and Boys Round Robin: May 3-5 Semis/Finals: May 17-19

Rain Date: May 31-June 2

(Additional Fees: If your team has to play a single elimination preliminary game, the home team will be responsible for the field rental, unless meeting at a neutral site where the fee will be split.  Referee fees will also be split for the play in game.  The team who does not advance will be refunded all but $150 of their entry fee if there is not a second division for their age group to slide into).

Play-in Games will be used to get to even brackets of 4, 6, 8, 12 or 16 teams.

Teams will advance from the Round Robin to the Semis/Finals weekend.

All teams are accepted into the tournament who meet the league eligibility requirements as long as we receive your registration AND payment in our office by the deadline date. Some Teams may be seeded and then we would do a double blind draw for the remaining teams in the bracket. Play-in Games will be played as self schedules prior to the Round Robin weekend to get to even brackets of 4, 6, 8, 12 or 16 teams.

The maximum number of players on the event roster for 9v9 is 18.  Only 16 players may be game active and dress for each game.  The maximum number of players on the event roster for 11v11 is 22.  For 11v11, a maximum of 18 players may be listed as game active.

Club pass players may play in Presidents Cup if they are approved on the team’s Presidents Cup Event roster.  Players can only appear on one event roster for all State tournaments(State Cup, Pres Cup, Governors Cup).  Players must have an Ohio Soccer player card, be carded to a team within your same club, and cannot not be rostered to a GLC team.

We understand that teams and/or coaches may have conflicts for Presidents Cup.  We have avoided coach conflicts where possible.  We do run into  issues with field capacity and the number of games being played each day along with giving each team the same amount of rest time between games in the same day.  Any change in the schedule creates a snowball effect on the entire pool and other coaches with multiple team conflicts.

Ohio Soccer will pay referee fees for all Round Robin through Finals games.  Teams will split the referee fees for any Self schedule play in game.

Yes, if your team plays in the U13-U19 Ohio South Presidents Cup, the champion is required to play in the Midwest Presidents Cup.

Ohio State football: 6 things to know about the Buckeyes who were selected in NFL Draft

Apr. 29—Ohio State had a relatively quiet NFL Draft weekend, thanks in no small part to a dozen or so potential draftees opting to stay in school.

Here are six things to know:

1. Ohio State had four players drafted.

The Arizona Cardinals chose Marvin Harrison Jr. in the first round, the Cleveland Browns chose Mike Hall Jr. in the second round, the Houston Texans took Cade Stover in the fourth round, and the Las Vegas Raiders picked Tommy Eichenberg in the fifth round.

That is the smallest number of Buckeyes to hear their names called since 2013 when only three were picked. Ohio State also had three players drafted in 2005 and '08, the smallest total since none were chosen in 1998.

Ten picks in a two-year span is the smallest for Ohio State since there were nine combined in 2013 and '14.

2. Ohio State had a first-round pick for the eighth year in a row.

Harrison being the only first-rounder was a bit of an oddity.

Ohio State had five first-round picks in 2016, three in '17, '20 and '23 and two in 2018, '19 and '22.

The 2021 draft in which the Bears chose Justin Fields was the only one in the previous seven without multiple Ohio State first-rounders.

3. The defensive back draft drought continues.

Ohio State has not had a player from the secondary drafted since cornerback Shaun Wade went to the Ravens in the fifth round in 2021.

The last safety to be picked is still Jordan Fuller , who went to the Rams in the sixth round in 2020.

Ohio State's three-year defensive back draft drought matches the longest in the common draft era, which began in 1967. That was actually part of a larger 10-year stretch that began in 1960 and ended with Ted Provost in 1970.

4. Five Ohio State tight ends have been drafted in the last 10 years.

Cade Stover going to the Texans in the fourth round continued a strong run for the position that began with Jeff Heuerman (Broncos) in 2015 and continued a year later with Nick Vannett ( Seahawks ).

In 2021, the Jaguars drafted Luke Farrell, and Jeremy Ruckert was picked by the Jets a year later.

Prior to Heuerman, no Ohio State tight ends were drafted in 10 consecutive drafts.

5. Forty-eight Ohio State receivers have been drafted in the common era.

Harrison is the fourth Ohio State receiver to be chosen in the first round in the last three years and the 11th all time.

He follows Chris Olave and Garrett Wilson in 2022 and Jaxon Smith-Njigba last year.

The other Ohio State receivers drafted in the first round are Joey Galloway (Seahawks, 1995), Terry Glenn (Patriots, 1996), David Boston (Cardinals, 1999), Michael Jenkins (Falcons, 2004), Santonio Holmes ( Steelers , 2006), Anthony Gonzalez (Colts, 2007), Ted Ginn Jr. (Dolphins, 2007), Olave (Saints, 2022), Wilson (Jets, 2022) and Smith-Njigba (Seahawks, 2023).

6. Hall is the 38th Ohio State player drafted by the Browns.

The Cleveland franchise chose 19 players from Ohio State while they were run by former Ohio State coach Paul Brown, who was fired in 1963.

Since then, the franchise has drafted another 19 Buckeyes, and the total of 38 is the most for any franchise.

Brown went on to help found the Bengals , who joined the league in 1968 and lead the league in draft picks from Ohio State in that span with 20.

The Cardinals, who have been part of every draft since 1936, also have 20 draft picks from Ohio State while the Texans have six and the Raiders have 13.

The Texans joined the league in 2002 while the Raiders were originally an AFL team that began drafting with the NFL in 1967.

The Rams, who were also founded in Cleveland but left for Los Angeles in 1946, have drafted 28 players from Ohio State. That is third behind the Bears (31).
