PBA releases 2023 PBA50-PBA60 Tour schedules

PBA Communications

The 2023 PBA50 Tour schedule will feature the greatest bowlers in the world aged 50-and-over competing in 12 title events, including five major championships, from early June to the end of August, with a total purse of more than $1 million.

The Professional Bowlers Association also announced fans will be able watch every PBA50 Tour event start-to-finish, livestreamed on BowlTV.

Highlighting the season will be the first-ever PBA50 World Series of Bowling, at JAX60 in Jackson, Mich., July 15-23. The inaugural senior WSOB will feature four title events including the main-event PBA50 World Championship, which will boast a first-place prize of $25,000, the highest on the senior circuit in more than two decades.

Similar to the PBA Tour’s World Series, the PBA50 WSOB will have multiple oil pattern championship stages leading to the World Championship.

Another exciting addition to the schedule finds the 2023 PBA50 Tour season concluding with the return of the PBA50 Tournament of Champions, at Orange Bowl Lanes in Lakeland, Fla., Aug. 26-30. Back for the first time this century, the PBA50 TOC and its $15,000 winner’s check will be open to PBA champions over the age of 50 who have won a PBA title of any kind in their careers from the PBA Tour and PBA50 Tour, including PBA and PBA50 Regional Tour titles.

Last season, legendary PBA Hall of Famer Parker Bohn III earned PBA50 Player of the Year honors, winning four titles and leading the Tour in points and earnings.

Lennie Boresch Jr. won the 2022 Senior U.S. Open, and the victory earned the 10-year PBA50 Tour veteran eligibility into the PBA Hall of Fame, based on his senior Tour accomplishments. Boresch was elected to the HOF by vote and will be inducted in March.

Andres Gomez, the first Colombian to win a PBA Tour title, will cross the age 50 threshold on July 19, and is expected to compete.

In addition to Bohn and Boresch, PBA Hall of Famers Walter Ray Williams Jr., Chris Barnes, Pete Weber, Jason Couch, Amleto Monacelli, Ron Mohr, Tom Baker and Johnny Petraglia once again figure to be regulars on the PBA50 Tour.

Rounding out the major championships on the 2023 PBA50 Tour schedule are the USBC Senior Masters at Sam’s Town in Las Vegas, the Senior U.S. Open at Highland Park Lanes in Greeley, Colo. and the PBA50 Players Championship at Bowl America Dranesville in Virginia. The Players Championship finals and its record-high $20,000 first place prize will be contested on specially-installed lanes at the home of PBA50 player Bill Moore.

Other cities hosting 2023 PBA50 Tour regular events include Hammond, Ind., Morgantown, W.Va., The Villages, Fla., and Fort Myers, Fla.

The PBA50 Tour schedule also will allow for players to participate in the new PBA LBC National Championships at Bowlero Wauwatosa in Milwaukee, Wis. Depending on which division the PBA50 players choose to enter, the National Championships have a $25,000 first-place prize in the Open Classic division, and $5,000 first in the Men’s Senior Classic division. The top three finishers in the Open Classic division and winner of the men’s Senior Classic division will join winners in other divisions earning trips to the FOX Sports presentation of the PBA LBC National Championships Clash, and its $100,000 purse, from Bayside Bowl in Portland, Maine.

The PBA LBC National Championships will run on weekends from June 3-July 17, with June 24-25, July 1-2 and July 8-9 being ideal weekends for the touring PBA50 players to enter.

Two PBA50 regional events will also be available along the way for touring players, July 24-26 in Wyoming, Mich.; and July 28-30 in Bowling Green, Ohio. Dozens more PBA50 Regionals around the country will be announced soon.

Two PBA60 National Tour events for players age 60-and-over are also on the schedule, including the season-opening USBC Super Senior Classic in Las Vegas, which will kick things off on May 31, prior to the Senior Masters. PBA60 Tour players will also travel to Ohio for the PBA60 Tristan’s T.A.P.S. Memorial Tournament at Wayne Webb’s Columbus Bowl in July.

Rodriguez wins 2023 PWBA Tour Championship for third career major title

pba tour billiards 2023

WATERLOO, Iowa – Colombia’s Maria José Rodriguez wants to win every tournament she enters, but she’s willing to concede that majors mean a bit more. In that case, every Professional Women’s Bowling Association Tour title Rodriguez has won to date must mean a lot to her because they’ve all been majors. The 34-year-old right-hander’s latest triumph came Tuesday night when she defeated Dasha Kovalova of Muskegon, Michigan, 234-200, to win the 2023 PWBA Tour Championship at Cadillac Xtreme Bowling Center. The stepladder finals were contested in front of a standing-room only crowd and broadcast live on CBS Sports Network. The win gave Rodriguez her second Tour Championship crown – she won the 2018 event in Richmond, Virginia – and third major victory overall; her first came at the 2014 United States Bowling Congress Queens, which was held at the National Bowling Stadium in Reno, Nevada. It also allowed her to take home the trophy and $50,000 first-place check. Kovalova earned $25,000 for her runner-up finish. Rodriguez can’t explain why things just seem to click for her at majors, but it’s not something she’s complaining about either. “I think maybe I’m lucky that I’ve just won the majors,” Rodriguez said. “I don’t know why that’s happened because, obviously, my goal is to win a regular event as well. You put more emphasis and preparation into the majors because they’re cool to win, but I can’t really explain why it’s worked out that way.” One thing that was easy to explain was how Rodriguez reached the winner’s circle Tuesday night; she simply did what she’d done all tournament long, which was to pepper the pocket and record lots of strikes. After her opening shot of the championship match went high and left the 3-6-10, which she converted, Rodriguez got down to business, striking on her next five shots to grab a 16-pin lead over Kovalova at the halfway point. Kovalova, a five-time PWBA Tour titlist and past major champion herself, did her best to hang tough, but a 2-4-8-10 split in the sixth and a pocket 7-10 in the seventh proved to be too much to overcome. Rodriguez stayed clean, and by the time she stepped up to bowl her 10th frame, the title was already hers. Even though Rodriguez already felt herself to have had a solid season, she had to admit that winning the season’s final tournament, and major, was a nice way to close out the 2023 PWBA Tour campaign. “Obviously, it was a good season because I won,” Rodriguez said. “You always want to do better. I mean, I would’ve loved to have had Jordan’s season – referring to 2023 PWBA Tour Player of the Year Jordan Richard – but I don’t want to sound like I don’t appreciate the season I had. I just have really high standards for myself.” Rodriguez’s standards have always been high, but not too long ago, it was unclear whether or not it was even worth setting performance goals anymore because there was no guarantee she was going to be able to continue competing. That’s because a host of foot and ankle injuries had Rodriguez struggling to walk without pain let alone being able to bowl at an elite level. There were moments when she questioned whether or not she’d ever make it back to competition strength, which is a fact that made Tuesday night’s win even more special. “I questioned every day whether or not I’d be able to do this again,” Rodriguez said. “It’s amazing that this has happened. A lot of people have come back from things like that, and a lot of people haven’t, so you don’t take anything for granted. It just feels awesome.” Kovalova earned her spot in the title match by taking down 2022 U.S. Women’s Open champion Erin McCarthy of Elkhorn, Nebraska, 211-173 in the seminfinals. That match was close until McCarthy was unable to convert a 1-2-4-6-10 washout in the seventh frame. Nevertheless, despite failing to reach the winner’s circle, McCarthy authored some of the night’s most thrilling moments. First, she defeated England’s Verity Crawley 10-6 in a roll-off after the two finished Match 1 tied at 268. Next, she converted a 3-4-6-7 split in the 10th frame of Match 2 to top Richard by a final score of 228-217. Richard was vying for her first career major title and fourth win of the season. However, McCarthy’s bid to run the stepladder was stopped one match later by Kovalova, which forced McCarthy to settle for a third-place finish and $15,000. Richard earned $12,000 for placing fourth, while Crawley finished fifth and walked away with $9,000. The Tour Championship was the final event of the season-ending PWBA Championship Week – Waterloo, which featured three events – PWBA Waterloo Open, PWBA Pepsi Open and Tour Championship – and kicked off Wednesday with 85 athletes. In order to qualify for the Tour Championship, a player had to be a current PWBA member in good standing and have won a National Tour title during the 2023 season. The remainder of the field was filled from the PWBA season points list through the most recent tournament preceding the Tour Championship, which was the Pepsi Open.  The Tour Championship consisted of three eight-game rounds of match play Sunday and Monday. Total pinfall for 24 games, including bonus pins for each victory in match play, determined the five finalists for Tuesday’s championship round. Latvia’s Diana Zavjalova won the Waterloo Open on Thursday for her first title of the 2023 season and fifth career title. Caitlyn Johnson of Beaumont, Texas, won the Pepsi Open Saturday night to claim her first PWBA Tour tournament victory. The 2023 PWBA Tour schedule featured 12 events during the season and began in May at the PWBA Stockton Open at Pacific Avenue Bowl in Stockton, California. Richard was the only player to win multiple titles during the season, reaching the winner’s circle three times – PWBA GoBowling! Spokane Open; PWBA Great Lakes Classic; PWBA Bowlers Journal Cleveland Open – while Lindsay Boomershine of Brigham City, Utah, collected her first major at the USBC Queens. Hope Gramly of Aubrey, Texas, won PWBA Rookie of the Year for the 2023 season. She secured the postseason honor after accumulating enough points to qualify for the Tour Championship. Richard took home Player of the Year after leading the 2023 PWBA Tour in wins (3), championship-round appearances (6), average (219.69) and PWBA Tour points (110,162.50). This marks Richard’s first time earning the award; however, she was the 2018 PWBA Rookie of the Year.

2024 WM Phoenix Open One and Done picks, sleepers, field, purse: Top PGA Tour predictions, power rankings, expert golf betting advice from DFS pro

Hero Image

The 2024 WM Phoenix Open is set to begin on Thursday, February 8 at TPC Scottsdale in Arizona. Scottie Scheffler headlines the 2024 WM Phoenix Open field, with the world No. 1 looking to win this event for the third consecutive year. Scheffler is listed as the 5-1 favorite in the latest 2024 WM Phoenix Open odds. He is followed by Justin Thomas (10-1), Max Homa (16-1), Sam Burns (20-1), and Jordan Spieth (20-1). The total 2024 WM Phoenix Open purse is $8.8 million with the winner taking home $1.584 million. Viktor Hovland and Xander Schauffele have both withdrawn from the tournament. The first groups get underway with tee times at 9:20 a.m. ET.

Before locking in your 2024 WM Phoenix Open one and done picks,  you need to see what SportsLine DFS pro and PGA expert Mike McClure has to say.

The One and Done format is growing in popularity. It has several noticeable similarities to NFL Survivor pools, with the main difference being entries are not eliminated with a bad week. Players pick one golfer per week and earn points based on their selected golfer's prize money for that tournament. Golfers can only be used once per season, and the point format makes nailing majors and big money tournaments critical.

McClure is a DFS legend with over $2 million in career winnings,  and he's been RED-HOT on his PGA picks dating back to the PGA Tour restart in June of 2020. McClure uses his proprietary simulation model to analyze the field and crush his golf picks .

McClure nailed plenty of One and Done picks in 2023. At the 2023 Farmers Insurance Open, McClure's top One and Done pick, Max Homa, outlasted the entire field to take home his sixth career PGA Tour victory and $1.566 million.  At the WM Phoenix Open, McClure nailed  Scheffler winning the tournament, taking home $3.6 million!

He correctly called Jon Rahm's wins at The Masters and the Sentry Tournament of Champions. Then at the RBC Canadian Open McClure listed Nick Taylor and Tyrrell Hatton as two of his top one and done picks. Taylor would go on to win the tournament , while Hatton finished in third place! And finally, at the Rocket Mortgage Classic, his top OAD pick was eventual tournament champion Rickie Fowler!

This season, one of his top OAD picks was for The American Express was Justin Thomas, who finished in third place and took home $635,600, and at last week's AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am his top pick was Scottie Scheffler, who finished in sixth place after the final round was cancelled due to weather.

Now, McClure has set his sights on the 2024 WM Phoenix Open and just revealed his optimal One and Done picks. They are a must-see for any player looking for an edge in their One and Done pool.

We can tell you that one of McClure's favorite One and Done picks for the 2024 WM Phoenix Open is Max Homa. The World No. 8 is a serious threat to win any tournament he enters, and he has the personality to thrive in front of the raucous WM Phoenix Open crowd. Homa is in peak form, and McClure expects him to make a strong run at the 2024 WM Phoenix Open title.

McClure is also targeting another golfer in his PGA One and Done picks who is listed as a 35-1 longshot in the latest WM Phoenix Open odds.   Picks like these could be the difference between winning your One and Done pool or going home with nothing. You ABSOLUTELY need to see who it is before locking in your pick.

So what are the top One and Done picks for the 2024  WM Phoenix Open  at TPC Scottsdale, and which under-the-radar golfer offers HUGE value? ... Join SportsLine here to see the top 2024 WM Phoenix Open One and Done plays, all from the expert who nailed Nick Taylor's epic RBC Canadian Open victory and Rickie Fowler's win at the Rocket Mortgage Classic in 2023 !

2024 WM Phoenix Open odds, field: PGA picks, predictions from proven golf model that's nailed 10 majors

Sportsline's proven model simulated the waste management phoenix open 2024 10,000 times and revealed its pga golf picks.

jordan-spieth-phoenix-open-usatsi.jpg

Jordan Spieth, a 13-time PGA Tour winner, has struggled in recent years since winning three PGA Tournaments in 2017. The 30-year-old is coming off his fourth winless season over his last six years and has won just two of his 132 tournaments over the last six seasons. But with the 2024 WM Phoenix Open not labeled as a signature event this year, could Speith emerge out of the 2024 WM Phoenix Open field with his first victory since April 17, 2022? The WM Phoenix Open 2024 tees off from TPC Scottsdale on Thursday, Feb. 8.

Speith, who finished sixth at the WM Phoenix Open last year, has 20-1 odds to win the WM Phoenix Open 2024. Scottie Scheffler, the world's No. 1 ranked player, is the 5-1 favorite followed by Justin Thomas (10-1) and Max Homa (16-1) in the latest 2024 WM Phoenix Open odds. Who should you include in 2024 WM Phoenix Open bets? Before locking in your 2024 WM Phoenix Open picks, be sure to see the golf predictions and projected leaderboard from the proven computer model at SportsLine .

SportsLine's proprietary model, built by DFS pro Mike McClure, has been red-hot since the PGA Tour resumed in June 2020. In fact, the model is up more than $9,000 on its best bets since the restart, nailing tournament after tournament.

McClure's model predicted Jon Rahm would finish on top of the leaderboard at the 2023 Sentry Tournament of Champions and The American Express. At the 2023 Masters, the model was all over Rahm's second career major victory heading into the weekend. Rahm was two strokes off the lead heading into the third round, but the model still projected him as the winner. It was the second straight Masters win for the model, which also nailed Scottie Scheffler winning in 2022.

In addition, the model included Nick Taylor in its best bets to win the 2023 RBC Canadian Open. That bet hit at +7000, and for the entire tournament, McClure's best bets returned nearly $1,900. McClure's best bets also included Jason Day (17-1) winning outright at the 2023 AT&T Byron Nelson and Rickie Fowler (14-1) finishing on top of the leaderboard at the 2023 Rocket Mortgage Classic.

This same model has also nailed a whopping 10 majors entering the weekend. Anyone who has followed it has seen massive returns.

Now that the WM Phoenix Open 2024 field is set, SportsLine simulated the tournament 10,000 times, and the results were surprising. Head to SportsLine now to see the projected leaderboard .

Top 2024 WM Phoenix Open predictions

One major surprise the model is calling for at the WM Phoenix Open 2024: Spieth, a three-time major champion who is listed fourth in the odds this week, struggles and barely cracks the top 10. He is coming off a disappointing showing at the AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am last week, finishing T39 at 6-under-par after finishing third at The Sentry in his first event of the season.

Spieth finished T60 at this tournament two years ago before finishing outside the top five last season. He ranks No. 130 in driving distance and No. 135 in total driving so far this season, which is going to be an issue at a course where driving distance is key. Spieth went winless in 22 tournaments last season and has not won an event in nearly two years, which is another reason why the model is not high on him to win this week.

Another surprise: J.T. Poston, a 35-1 longshot, makes a strong run at the title. He has a much better chance to win it all than his odds imply, so he's a target for anyone looking for a huge payday. The 30-year-old has two career victories and has finished 11th or better in three of his four tournaments to begin this season.

Poston is continuing off his strong finish last season, finishing seventh or better in five of his final nine tournaments, including two top-three outcomes. Poston has made the cut in four of five career tournaments at TPC Scottsdale. He's 11th on the PGA Tour in total strokes gained to begin the 2024 FedEx Cup season and fourth in scoring average (67.18). Poston is 10th on the PGA Tour in birdie average and if he can sink some timely putts this weekend, the model loves his value at 35-1 odds to take home the win.  See who else to pick here .

How to make 2024 WM Phoenix Open picks

The model is also targeting two other golfers with odds of 30-1 or longer to make a strong run at the title. Anyone who backs these longshots could hit it big. You can only see the model's picks here .

Who will win the 2024 WM Phoenix Open, and which longshots will stun the golfing world? Check out the WM Phoenix Open 2024 odds below and then visit SportsLine to see the projected WM Phoenix Open leaderboard , all from the model that's nailed 10 golf majors, including last year's Masters and Open Championship.
