Things To Do

Arts | pnk’s flying high as visual ‘trustfall’ tour makes orlando stop | review.

Pop star P!nk flies high through the confetti over the crowd at Amway Arena in Orlando on Saturday, Nov. 18. The singer is touring in support of her latest album, "Trustfall." (Courtesy Topher Vartanian)

Pop megastar P!nk is touring in support of her latest album, “Trustfall,” so perhaps it shouldn’t have come as a shock to have the singer make her entrance to the first of two Orlando concerts on Saturday by falling from the rafters of the Amway Center .

Not literally falling, of course, the singer was supported by bungee cords and her aerial exploits were assisted by two shirtless slabs of beefcake.

“Get this party started on a Saturday night,” she sang, lyrics from a hit that caused another shock: the realization that P!nk has been topping the charts for more than two decades (and sold some 60 million albums in that time). Her show opened with three big bangers: “Get the Party Started,” followed by “Raise Your Glass” and “Who Knew.”

“How the hell is everybody?” she asked after that one-two-three-punch. Based on the return roar, it seems safe to say everybody was feeling pretty good.

Singer P!nk will give away banned books at 2 Florida concerts

The singer promised a party — “We’re not gonna stress or overthink anything,” she promised — and while she avoided saying anything political, she pointedly showed support for her LGBTQ following.

As she sang, “Don’t you ever, ever feel, like you’re less than f…ing perfect,” a rainbow appeared on the screen behind her. And in multiple numbers, her dancers paired up in all gender combinations.

Throughout the evening, the choreography and dancing was a cut above, with a perfect blend of synchronized movement and opportunities for individual interpretation of the music.

The party atmosphere prevailed with all the trappings of a big pop spectacle: confetti, fire jets, smoke plumes, pyrotechnics. For good measure, a pair of pink-flamingo scooters made an appearance. More bizarrely, a rocking “Blow Me (One Last Kiss)” was accompanied by a parade of dancers clad in giant-lip costumes.

But P!nk also showed she didn’t necessarily need all those trappings. She was equally compelling, her voice cracking with emotion, as she sang the regretful “Our Song” from her latest album on a near-empty stage, accompanied only by pianist Jason Chapman.

Accompanied by her longtime pianist, Jason Chapman, P!nk sings "Our Song" Saturday, Nov. 18, during an Orlando concert stop on her "Trustfall" tour. (Courtesy Topher Vartanian)

She slipped in other new songs: “Turbulence” was accompanied by another aerial display, “Never Gonna Not Dance Again” inspired a joyful freedom of movement among the dancers.

But the bulk of the show was devoted to P!nk’s huge back catalog of hits.

“A lot of us have grown up together,” she told the audience, before quipping, “… if that’s what we’re doing.”

Other highlights: A fiery “Try,” an acoustic reworking of “Don’t Let Me Get Me” and a country-tinged “When I Get There” followed by a boisterous “I Am Here” that could have been at home at a tent revival.

That all led to the closing “So What,” delivered with defiant energy as P!nk soared all over the arena, up into the highest tiers, like Spider-Man with a dazzling smile and a penchant for confetti.

P!nk tours with two opening acts, and DJ KidCutUp played to the singer’s fan base with a high-energy mix of hits from the past 30 years — think Madonna, Stevie Nicks, Bon Jovi.

The alt-rockers of Grouplove sounded their best when vocalists Hannah Hooper and Christian Zucconi sang together, giving the group a sound that sets it apart. The crowd responded to such numbers as the opening “Deleter,” a perky “Hello” and the bouncy “Deadline,” as well as “Tongue Tied,” Grouplove’s best-known single.

Hooper promised the crowd that P!nk would provide the “best Saturday night of your lives,” and though that statement set the bar firmly in the realm of hyperbole, P!nk most certainly came through with a Saturday-night spectacle to remember.

Pink Plots 2023 Stadium Tour With Brandi Carlile, Pat Benatar and Neil Giraldo

Pink has announced a stadium tour of North America for summer 2023 in which she’ll be paired with either Brandi Carlile or Pat Benatar and Neil Giraldo for different dates. Grouplove will be the opening act for all of the shows.

The “Summer Carnival” tour will reach 21 cities and begin July 24 in Toronto and end in Phoenix Oct. 9. In-between will be stops in such venues at L.A’s SoFi Stadium, New York’s Citi Field, Chicago’s Wrigley Field and Boston’s Fenway Park.

Popular on Variety

Tickets for the Live Nation-produced tour go on sale to the general public Nov. 21 at 10 a.m. local time via Ticketmaster.

This particular group of faces may seem familiar to anyone who either watched the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame ceremony in person last Sunday or will soon be viewing it on HBO on Nov. 19. Pink inducted Dolly Parton and teamed up with Carlile to sing Parton’s “Coat of Many Colors” in one of the highlights of the show (pictured above), while Benatar and Giraldo were themselves inductees.

Although the announcement of the tour did not come until Monday morning, Pink and Carlile let the cat out of the bag Sunday afternoon with a short video they jointly released in which Pink playfully “asked” Carlile to tour together, over the phone, as they sat next to each other, presumably backstage at the Hall of Fame ceremony.

View this post on Instagram A post shared by P!NK (@pink)

“I was really afraid to ask you this question to your face,” Pink says at the beginning of the faux call.

“Oh,” Carlile responds, with mock awkwardness. “I’m married.”

“Yeah. I love your wife. But will you go on tour with me?”

“Fuck, yeah,” Carlile answers.

Benatar and Giraldo, for their part, are about to embark on an endeavor outside their usual roles, as they have co-written the score for and co-produced a stage musical, “Invincible,” that is set to have a premiere opening run at the Wallis in Beverly Hills, which begins previews Nov. 22.

Pink has not announced any forthcoming album, but did put out her first new music in a while with the release of a new single, “Never Gonna Not Dance Again.” Most recently as live appearances go, she co-headlined Eddie Vedder’s Ohana Festival at the beginning of October.

Pink Announces Summer 2023 Stadium Tour with Brandi Carlile, Pat Benatar & Neil Giraldo and More

Alt-rock band Grouplove and DJ KidCutUp will also join Pink for the 21-date Summer Carnival 2023 tour

Pink will be flying around stadiums this summer on her biggest United States tour to date!

Fresh off the release of her new single "Never Gonna Not Dance Again," the Grammy-winning singer-songwriter, 43, announced on Monday that she'll be embarking on a North American stadium tour next summer alongside opening acts Brandi Carlile , Pat Benatar & Neil Giraldo, Grouplove and DJ KidCutUp.

The 21-date trek, titled the Summer Carnival 2023 tour, will kick off with a July 24th concert at Rogers Centre in Toronto and hit venues in Boston, New York City, Chicago, Detroit, Philadelphia, Los Angeles and Las Vegas before wrapping up at Chase Field in Phoenix on Oct. 9.

Tickets go on presale for Citi cardmembers from Nov. 15 at 10 a.m. local time through Nov. 20 at 11 p.m. local time. Another presale for members of the Verizon Up loyalty program will go on sale for select shows from Nov. 17 at noon local time through Nov. 20 at 11 p.m. local time. General on-sale tickets then become available Nov. 21 at 10 a.m. local time via Live Nation. More information can be found on Pink's Live Nation page .

Grouplove and DJ KidCutUp will perform as opening acts on all 21 dates, while Carlile as well as Benatar and Giraldo will each appear at select shows.

Ahead of the tour's announcement, both Pink and Carlile, 41, performed a tribute to Dolly Parton at the 2022 Rock and Roll Hall of Fame induction ceremony last week. On Sunday, they teased the stadium tour on social media with a hilarious video filmed backstage at the event.

"Sorry, I'm not trying to ignore you. I just have to make a really important phone call," said Pink in the clip while seated alongside Carlile — before calling the "Right on Time" singer on the phone.

Both musicians greeted each other on the playfully tongue-in-cheek phone call before Pink expressed feeling "really afraid" to ask Carlile a question. "Oh, I'm married," replied Carlile with a laugh, referencing her wife of a decade, Catherine Shepherd.

"Yeah, I do love your wife," giggled Pink, "But will you go on tour with me?"

"F--- yeah!" exclaimed Carlile. "Are we doing this?"

"Yeah!" replied Pink, before the performers shared a high five and ended the pseudo call.

Last week, Pink released her latest single "Never Gonna Not Dance Again" alongside a music video. She'll give the track its live TV debut performance at the 2022 American Music Awards on Nov. 20, where she'll also perform a tribute to the late Olivia Newton-John.

Pink sings her heart out onstage.

Pink is going on tour in 2023, so you better get this party started.

From July through November, the beloved pop star is embarking on a massive 36-concert tour—she’s calling it “Summer Carnival 2.0” — that will take her to stadiums and ballparks all over North America.

That includes huge gigs at Boston’s Fenway Park on July 31 and Aug. 1 , New York City’s Citi Field on Aug. 3, Philadelphia’s Citizen Bank Park on Sept. 18 and New York City’s Madison Square Garden on Nov. 4.

At all shows, fans can expect to likely hear classic Pink hits like “Just Give Me A Reason,” “Try,” and “Raise Your Glass,” but that won’t be all.

In February 2023, Pink is dropping “Trustfall,” her ninth studio album. Although we don’t know much about the record, Pink told the Good Morning America crew that it’s “the best album I’ve ever made.”

Plus, major special guests Brandi Carlile, Pat Benatar with Neil Giraldo, Grouplove, and DJ Kid Cutup will join her on select dates.

Best of all, tickets for some shows are available for under $60 before fees on Vivid Seats.

So, if you want to see Pink at the top of her game this summer, here’s everything you need to know.

Pink 2023 tour schedule

Below you’ll find all the upcoming tour dates, venues and lowest prices available for every show on the “Summer Carnival 2.0 Tour.”

(Note: The New York Post confirmed all above prices at the publication time. All prices are subject to fluctuation and include additional fees at checkout .)

Vivid Seats is a verified secondary market ticketing platform, and prices may be higher or lower than face value, depending on demand.

They offer a 100% buyer guarantee that states your transaction will be safe and secure, and your tickets will be delivered prior to the event.

Pink new album

“Trustfall,” Pink’s ninth studio album , was inspired by “a lot of devastating things (that happened).”

“It takes your kids getting sick to be like, ‘None of this matters….’ I want to only put truth in the world,” she shared. “Then, my dad died. That also is a reminder of how I have a certain amount of time left.”

While the above may sound heavy, she said the record will make listeners want to “take their clothes off and dance.”

Pink special guests

Many of Pink’s support acts joining her on the road are household names in their own right.

In the event you’re not familiar with them, here’s a quick intro to each of the stars she’s enlisted to support her on the “Summer Carnival 2.0 Tour.”

Brandi Carlile just completed her own major 2022 arena, “Beyond These Silent Days Tour.” On this run, when she supports Pink, expect the six-time Grammy winner to bust out her major hits “The Story,” “Hearts Content,” “The Joke,” and many more.

Pat Benatar with Neil Giraldo have been active since 1972. In those 50 years, Benatar has released countless anthems — “Hit Me With Your Best Shot,” “We Belong,” “Love Is A Battlefield,” “Heartbreaker,” and “Shadows Of The Night,” to name just a few— and is still going strong. Giraldo, her husband, has been playing with her for over four decades.

Grouplove is best known for its mega-hit “Tongue Tied.” Formed in Los Angeles back in 2009, the band has become an indie rock mainstay in their 13 years together. Their most recent record, “This Is This,” was praised by Tastemakers Mag for its “guitar solos and… renewed rock inspiration.”

DJ Kid Cut Up , a Los Angeles-based DJ and producer, recently toured with Cher and contributed to the soundtrack for the trailer to the film “ Dope .” To hear Kid Cut Up’s vintage, sample-heavy sound, check out his website here .

Pink AMA performance

To kick off the annual awards program, Pink, decked out in neon roller skates and a candy-colored top with plushy-encrusted sleeves, rolled from a pre-taped segment into Los Angeles’ Microsoft Theater all while performing the lead single “Never Gonna Not Dance Again” off her new album.

For those who want to see the star strutting her stuff, you can find her throwback look, sound and vibe below.

Pink to distribute banned books at Florida tour dates

Singer to give out 2,000 free copies of books in state that is center of hotbed of challenges to free speech

Pink is well known for her powerful voice and acrobatic stage shows, but on her Trustfall tour in Florida this week the pop star will distinguish herself for a different reason: by handing out banned books.

The singer and three-time Grammy winner is planning to distribute 2,000 free copies of books that have fallen foul of bans as a protest against a tide of censorship sweeping the US. Fans will benefit at tour stops in Miami and Sunrise, Florida – a state that has become the center of the banned book epidemic .

Describing herself as a voracious reader, Pink explained her thinking in an Instagram livestream. “I can’t imagine my own parents telling me what my kids can and cannot read, let alone someone else’s parents, let alone someone else that doesn’t even have children that are deciding what my children can read,” she said.

Pink’s banned book has been conceived together with the national free speech group PEN America . They have chosen four titles to give away – Toni Morrison’s Beloved, Todd Parr’s The Family Book, Stacia Deutsch’s Girls Who Code and the poem recited by the poet Amanda Gorman at Joe Biden’s presidential inauguration in January 2021, The Hill We Climb.

PEN America’s database of censored books recorded 3,362 book bans in US public schools in the 2022-23 school year, involving 1,557 unique titles. Of those, more than 40% – or 1,406 book ban cases – occurred in Florida school districts.

Under Republican governor Ron DeSantis, Florida has become a hotbed of challenges to free speech. The bill he signed into law last year, The Parental Rights in Education Act – commonly known as the Don’t Say Gay law – prohibits elementary schools from discussing sexual orientation or gender identity.

Morrison’s 1987 Beloved, a portrait of a formerly enslaved family, has been removed from libraries and classrooms in eight Florida school districts, according to PEN. In all, five of Morrison’s books have been pulled off shelves in 30 Florida districts.

Gorman’s soaring poem, The Hill We Climb, was written in the wake of the 2020 presidential election when she was just 22. She became the youngest inaugural poet at Biden’s inauguration, earning widespread critical acclaim.

The book of the poem was banned from an elementary school in Miami-Dade county in May following a complaint by just one parent. In her complaint the parent, Daily Salinas, misidentified Gorman as Oprah Winfrey.

after newsletter promotion

Salinas was later revealed to be aligned with Moms for Liberty, the hard-right activist group that devotes itself to removing books from schools that deal with sex education, LGBTQ+ rights and racism.

“Books have held a special joy for me from the time I was a child,” Pink said in comments before her Florida tour. “That’s why I am unwilling to stand by and watch while books are banned by schools.”
