Burgundy, Cilan’s rival, wants him to lose in the worst way, and Trip and his Gurdurr battle with power and excellent timing. But Cilan prevails, delivering a tasty smackdown. Wrapping up the first-round battles, Stephan’s Zebstrika makes short work of Bianca’s Minccino, and Luke and Iris both win their matches. Then it’s on to round two!

Georgia backs up her cocky attitude by proving to be a formidable opponent. As the back-and-forth battle continues, Iris, Cilan, and Stephan cheer Ash on from the sidelines (though Stephan really just wants Ash to win so they can battle in the next round). Finally, with a powerful Guillotine move, it appears Georgia and her Pawniard may have gotten the upper hand...but we’ll have to find out next time!

Episode plot [ ]

The battle of Cilan and Trip is about to begin. George comments Trip will have a serious battle due to the fact Cilan is the Gym Leader. Cilan hopes the battle will be exciting, though Trip tells he has come a far way since defeating Chili. Iris has doubts about Cilan losing, though Burgundy is still annoyed and wants to see him down. Trip sends Gurdurr and Cilan sends Dwebble. Dwebble attacks with X-Scissor, but misses. Dwebble goes to slash Gurdurr, who intercepts its attack. Gurdurr uses Rock Smash, causing Dwebble's shell to be cracked. Gurdurr repeats the attack, but misses. Gurdurr attacks via Stone Edge, hurting Dwebble. As Luke documents the scenes, Bianca wonders where Zorua is, for she is missing.

Trip is amazed Cilan has not given up yet, but Cilan goes to make his attack. Gurdurr uses Dynamic Punch, though Dwebble avoids the attacks. Meanwhile, Bianca is searching for Zorua and meets up with Georgia, who has not seen Zorua. Bianca asks Georgia again, though the former Georgia is Zorua, who runs away, so Bianca chases her. Dwebble gets out and uses Shell Smash, increasing its power. Combined with Rock Slide, Dwebble imprisons Gurdurr. Gurdurr tries to get out, but gets defeated by Dwebble's X-Scissor. Cilan praises Dwebble, though Trip photos Cilan, for he does not want to forget this defeat. Luke documents Cilan, though the real Luke comes, scolding Zorua. Burgundy is displeased by Cilan's victory, hoping the next battle will end in his failure. Bianca tries to find Zorua, but gets warned her battle will commence against Stephan.

Minccino tickles Zebstrika and attacks it with DoubleSlap. Zebstrika uses Shock Wave on Minccino and stomps on him, defeating him. Luke battles, his Golett using Shadow Punch to defeat Darmanitan. Iris' Emolga attracts Watchog and defeats it using Hidden Power. With the battles over, Don George advises everyone to go to the Pokémon Center to get some rest, for tomorrow is the second round. Ash goes to the Pokémon Center, seeing Trip going away. Trip tells Ash he has no reason for stay, for his Pokémon will not get any stronger by watching others battle. Ash goes to convince him, but Cilan says he should let him go, to follow his own path. During the night, the heroes eat dinner. Ash and Stephan make a competition to eat faster. Zorua transformed into Iris, so Bianca asks Zorua what does she like to eat. Zorua transforms into Axew, making Bianca mistake the real Axew as Zorua. Iris pulls Axew with Bianca and they argue. Luke documents the movie, while Zorua shifts back and goes away, with Bianca chasing her.

Later, Ash and Pikachu are filled, while Dwebble fixes its rock. Burgundy comes, wanting Cilan to lose the next round, making the heroes wonder when will she stop with that speech. The next day, the heroes appear in front of the stadium. Georgia comes, admitting Iris has become stronger, for Georgia needs such Trainers as a Dragon Buster. They continue to argue, so Cilan tells them to calm down. Zorua appears and transforms into Georgia, allowing Iris to taunt Georgia, claiming Georgia is too scared to battle her. At the stadium, the screen displays the next competitors - Ash and Georgia will have to battle each other. At the stadium, the screen displays the next battles. Ash faces Georgia, Cilan is against Luke and Iris vs. Stephan.

Ash sends Snivy and Georgia her Pawniard. Snivy starts with Leaf Storm, but Pawniard cuts the leaves with Metal Claw. Snivy uses Leaf Storm, though Pawniard evades and attacks with Metal Claw, hurting Snivy. Snivy uses Attract, but with no effect, for Pawniard is a girl. Pawniard retaliates with Iron Head, and hits the ground. Snivy uses Vine Whip, reflecting the rocks on Pawniard's head, blocking its blade. Snivy uses Vine Whip on Pawniard, hurting it. Snivy uses Leaf Blade, but hits the rock, enabling Pawniard to use its attacks. Pawniard uses Guillotine, showing its strength as the ground crashes. Snivy uses Vine Whip to toss Pawniard, who comes to the ground and swings Snivy instead. Pawniard prepares to use Guillotine, while Snivy is still on the ground, exhausted.

Cilan Versus Trip, Ash Versus Georgia!!

pokemon cilan vs trip ash versus georgia

The episode begins with a recap of the previous episode. The announcer says that the Don Tournament battles are getting more and more exciting, and wonders who will win the complete set of seven Driftveil City feathers. Luke is filming the competitors, and getting ready to film more battles of the tournament. The next match up between Trip and Cilan is about to begin. Don George mentions that Cilan was a Gym Leader of the Striaton Gym before. He says that Cilan will be a strong opponent to contend with. Cilan says to Trip that he would like to get a taste of his Striaton Gym battle in his battle today. Trip says that he and his Pokmon have become stronger since the Striaton Gym battle. He says that he'll show a better battle than back then against Chili at the Striaton Gym. Ash wonders what kind of battle they will have. Iris says that she can't see Cilan losing, but Trip looks very confident that he will win. Burgundy startles Iris and Ash, as she says that Cilan had better lose. She wants Trip to take revenge, with a hard and powerful punch. She doesn't believe Cilan is really an A-class Connoisseur, and wants him defeated badly.

Cilan brings out Dwebble, while Trip brings out Gurdurr to battle. Ash scans Gurdurr with his Pokdex. Ash remembers the Timburr that they battled before with Oshawott, and notices that it had evolved since the last time that they battled. Dwebble uses X-Scissor, while Gurdurr uses its beam to dodge the attack. Gurdurr spins around on the beam before getting down, and laughing at Dwebble. Dwebble tries to use Slash, but Gurdurr uses it's beam to take Dwebble and send it flying into the air and back to the ground. The announcer comments that Gurdurr is making good use of its steel beam, and that Dwebble cannot go near it. Don George says that it is a great defense to use the beam that way. Gurdurr uses Rock Smash on Dwebble's rock, as it causes large cracks to appear on the rock. Stephan mentions that there are cracks in the rock. Burgundy tells Gurdurr to keep attack with that same power. Ash and Iris give Cilan and Dwebble some encouragement.

Gurdurr uses Rock Smash again, while Dwebble dodges the attack. Gurdurr uses Stone Edge, as it hits Dwebble and sends it backwards. Burgundy is very happy that it hit. The announcer says that Gurdurr is attacking fiercely. Don George mentions that Stone Edge is super-effective against Dwebble. Luke is very happy with the battle as he is filming, and says that he will make the movie about the tournament into a masterpiece. As he is looking at Dwebble, Bianca steps in front of the camera, and asks where Zorua is. Luke tells her not to interrupt him when he is filming the battle. Bianca says that it isn't the time to be filming, since Zorua is gone.

Trip says that he has to commend Cilan for Dwebble being able to hang in there and have so much strength left. Cilan says that Trip has gotten better, and that his battling has exceeded his expectations. Cilan says it's tasting time, as Iris is not very thrilled to hear it. Burgundy is very angry, as she says that the tasting time must fail. Cilan says that Gurdurr's attacks are full of harmony that is put together by power and technique. Cilan says that Gurdurr has physical beauty, and gives off a fresh and powerful stimuli. He says that he will be the one to win in the end. Cilan says that he is going to show a great combination of attack and defense, as Dwebble jumps up into the air. Iris is still disgusted by Cilan's tasting time. Gurdurr uses Dynamic Punch, as Dwebble keeps on dodging the attack.

Meanwhile, Bianca is down the hallway, as she sees who she think is Georgia. She asks her if she has seen Zorua, as the fake Georgia shakes her head no. Bianca walks away as she sees the real Georgia, and asks her the same question. Georgia sees Zorua, Zorua hugs her, and Georgia pulls Zorua off of her. Zorua laughs and turns into a Zorua again. Bianca runs after Zorua as she says that they should watch the battles together. She tells Zorua that she has delicious Pokmon food to give to her. Georgia sighs and says that Bianca is really noisy.

Gurdurr tries to get closer to attack Dwebble with its beam, but Dwebble dodges and uses Shell Smash. Dwebble uses Rock Slide, as large rocks piles on top of and around Gurdurr. The announcer calls the attack awesome, while Don George says that Rock Slide is much stronger because Shell Smash was used first since it lowers defense but raises attack power. Burgundy is mad, as she wonders if that was even possible. Iris is happy to see that Dwebble learned Rock Slide. Ash says that they should finish it with one shot. Gurdurr is stuck between the rocks, and is able to get out of them before Dwebble uses Slash to knock it out. Cilan moves on to the second round after defeating Trip. Don George comments that it was an exciting and admirable battle. Cilan tells Dwebble that it did well in the battle, as a flash comes from Trip's camera. Trip says that he's taking pictures to record his journey. He says that he won't forget his loss to Cilan.

Zorua disguised as Luke holds Luke's camera to film Cilan, as he thinks that it really is Luke filming him. From a distance, Luke yells at Zorua to give him his camera back. Zorua disguised as Luke turns back into Zorua while laughing, as Cilan is very surprised to see that it really was Zorua. Burgundy is angry that Cilan won, and says that he will definitely lose in the second round. She pounds on the side wall and throws a tantrum. Bianca returns and notices that Zorua is back in the stadium. Ash asks Bianca where she has been, and says that her battle is up next. Stephan tells Bianca that he is her opponent, and that he is very motivated for the battle. Stephan tells Ash that he will win as well. Bianca is disgusted by Stephan saying he would win.

The next scene begins in the middle of the battle between Bianca and Stephan, as the announcer calls it a fierce and heated battle. Minccino uses Tickle, as Zebstrika laughs from being tickled. Minccino uses Doubleslap, which hits Zebstrika both times. Minccino uses Hyper Voice to hit Zebstrika, as Stephan tells it to endure the attack and show guts. Stephan says that it is their turn to fight back. Zebstrika uses Thunderbolt to hit Minccino and send it to the ground. Zebstrika uses Stomp to knock out Minccino. Bianca picks up Minccino to see if he is okay, and is very upset that she lost.

The next scene also begins in the middle of a battle, between Luke's Golett, and Scooter's Darmanitan. Golett and Darmanitan both hit each other, and go backwards. Golett uses Shadow Punch on Darmanitan to knock it out. The next scene also begins in the middle of a battle, between Jimmy Ray's Watchog and Iris' Emolga. Emolga uses Attract to infatuate Watchog. Emolga uses Hidden Power to knock out Watchog. The announcer says that all of the first round battles are over, and that the eight competitors moving on to the second round have been determined. Don George says that the battles of the second round will be the next day, and that competitors should go to the Pokmon Center to take a long rest and prepare for battles.

Later on at the Pokmon Center, Trip picks up his Gurdurr from Nurse Joy, as Ash walks up to him and asks where he is going. Trip says that with Gurdurr already having recovered, he has no business staying at the tournament. Ash tells him that the tournament isn't over yet, and the next matches are the next day. Trip says that he doesn't care, that watching other competitors with his Pokmon won't make them any stronger, and is a waste of time. Cilan says that everyone has a different way of thinking, and that they can't do anything about it. Iris says that she just doesn't understand Trip. Ash yells to Trip that they should battle the next time that they meet, as Trip signals back to him.

In the dining room, Ash and his friends are eating their dinner. Cilan says that the meal is perfect for participants of the Don Tournament. Stephan agrees, as he sits down and says that he'll eat and eat so that he'll win the next day. Ash says that there's a possibility that they could face each other the next day. Ash grabs more food, as he chows down on it. Iris is disgusted that they are battling over food. Iris looks behind her with a scare, as she sees Zorua disguised as her. Bianca walks up to Zorua and asks what food she would like, as she offers Zorua salad, Pizza and dessert. Zorua transforms into Axew, and pulls the real Axew as they run around the table. The real Axew yells at Zorua, as Zorua mimics her actions. Bianca grabs one of the Axew, but ends up picking up the real Axew instead. Bianca thinks it is Zorua. Bianca and Iris yell at each other over who Bianca is carrying. They pull back and forth, as Axew is getting hurt by it.

Luke is filming the dining room area, as the fake Axew turns back into Zorua and lands in front of Luke. Luke tells Zorua not to wander around too much. Zorua runs out the door, as Bianca chases after her. Ash and Stephan continue to battle over eating their food. Ash and Pikachu lay down in their bed with full stomachs, as Ash says that he will battle with all his strength the next day. Dwebble is fixing its rock home with a spray from its mouth, which Iris finds very cool. Cilan tells Dwebble that he might need its help in the second round as well, and if that happens he wants Dwebble to do its best.

Burgundy says that it doesn't sound like Dwebble really needs to do its best. Burgundy says that the battles the next day will prove that Cilan's tastings are completely wrong. She says that he will lose with an uncool and pitiful taste. She says that it is what her new tasting time has taught her, as she walks out of the room. Ash says that she is just like before, as Cilan says that she has a really noisy taste. The next day as Ash is very excited, he jumps up and in front of the stadium. He says that they'll win no matter what. Iris says that Ash really is in high spirits. Georgia comes up to them and says that she saw Iris' battle, and that notices that Iris has grown a little stronger. Iris asks her if she has a problem with that. Georgia says that it is very convenient, and that she has become an opponent that can resist her a little bit. Iris calls her pesky for thinking that she will win, as Georgia asks if she has a problem with that. Iris calls her a child, as Georgia admits that she is indeed a child. Georgia calls Iris a child, as sparks fly between them. Cilan tells them to not be so serious.

Zorua disguised as Georgia hops over to Iris, as she has a great idea. Iris uses the fake Georgia to say that Georgia is worried, she is in a bad condition today that she battles Dragon Master Iris, then she will certainly lose. She add a question of what should she do. The real Georgia asks what they are doing, as the fake Georgia turns back into Zorua. Georgia says that when they battle for real, that she has more talent than Iris. Day two of the Don Tournament starts, as the competitors are shuffled to determine who will face each other in the second round. Ash is paired up with Georgia, as he remembers that she used Beartic in round one and wonders what she will use for round two. Dino is paired up with Antonio, Cilan is paired up with Luke, and Iris is paired up with Stephan.

The first battle of the second round begins, as Ash faces off against Georgia. Ash brings out Snivy and Georgia brings out Pawniard to battle. Ash scans Pawniard with his Pokdex. Don George wonders how Snivy will fair against Pawniard, who is proficient in close combat. Snivy uses Leaf Storm, while Pawniard uses Metal Claw to destroy the attack. Don George says that Pawniard has an excellent defense, which surprises Snivy and Ash. Cilan comments that he's never seen a Metal Claw that fast before, and that Georgia has gotten stronger. Iris says that the battle has only just begun, and for them to pull themselves together. Snivy uses Leaf Storm, while Pawniard dodges the attack and gets closer to Snivy. Pawniard uses Metal Claw to slash Snivy, and send her to the ground. Luke says that it is bad, with Pawniard's speed being too much for them, and wonders how Ash will fight back. Stephan tells Ash to fight with guts and to use his willpower.

Pawniard rushes in to go after Snivy, as Snivy uses Attract to try and infatuate Pawniard. Everyone is shocked that Attract doesn't work, as Ash realizes that the Pawniard is female. Pawniard flirts like a female with flowers in the background, and does one of Georgia's poses. Georgia calls them naive for not knowing that Pawniard is a girl. Pawniard uses Iron Head, while Snivy dodges the attack. Pawniard's Iron Head hits the ground, which sends rocks flying. Snivy uses her Vine Whip to send the rocks towards Pawniard, as one gets stuck on her head blade. Georgia is in shock about that, as Pawniard has trouble getting the rock off of her head. The announcer says that Pawniard is stuck while being unable to move, and wonders if the tables have turned now. Stephan says that it is time to fight back, show their reserve power, and win to battle Stephan. Snivy uses Vine Whip to continually hit Pawniard over and over.

Snivy uses Leaf Blade to try and finish off Pawniard. Pawniard gets up, and jumps into the air so that the Leaf Blade would break the rock and free Pawniard. The announcer says that Pawniard performed an excellent escape from the trouble she was in. Georgia says that they are giving her a lot of trouble, and that this is as far as they will get. Georgia calls upon Guillotine, the move that guarantees a one-hit KO if it hits. Pawniard uses Guillotine, while Snivy dodges the attack. When Guillotine hit the ground, it looked extremely powerful. Iris is shocked as to how powerful the attack is, as Cilan explains that Guillotine will knock out the opponent in one hit if it succeeds. He says that Ash needs to be careful.

As the dust clears, Pawniard is shown to be giving a very mean look. Georgia says that she won't let them get away. Snivy uses Vine Whip to try and hold Pawniard back, as she wraps her vines around Pawniard. Pawniard turns right side up and gently lowers to the ground. Pawniard throws Snivy across the field. Pawniard prepares to use Guillotine, as Ash pleads to Snivy to get back up to end the episode.

Pokemon - Cilan Versus Trip, Ash Versus Georgia!! Synopsis and Schedule

Pokemon: 10 Best Cilan Episodes, Ranked

Cilan is one of Ash's many companion; however, the character's antics made him a memorable one. These are his best episodes.

For over ten seasons of the Pokemon anime, Ash traveled across the regions of the first four Pokemon generations with many companions. One consistent member of Ash's traveling party was Brock, the Kanto region Gym Leader and aspiring Pokemon Doctor. However, Brock would be absent for Ash's adventures in the Unova region.

As Brock's replacement, Unova Gym Leader Cilan joined the journey, who appears as part of a trio of Gym Leaders in Striaton City in Pokemon Black & White . A self-proclaimed Connoisseur, Cilan is an expert on a variety of topics, making him a useful traveling companion for Ash. These ten episodes represent Cilan's extraordinary work the best.

10 Triple Leaders, Team Threats!

Cilan made his anime debut in the fifth episode of Pokemon the Series: Black & White . In the episode, Ash challenges Cilan and his brothers, Chili and Cress , to his very first Gym Battle in the Unova region. Cilan happens to be the first of the three that Ash meets, welcoming Ash to Striaton City and leading him to the Striaton Gym.

There, Cilan reveals his identity as one of the three Gym Leaders. During their match, Ash mistakenly pits his Oshawott against Cilan's Pansage, making their battle quite suspenseful. Ash doesn't actually defeat Cilan until the subsequent episode, Dreams By The Yard Full , where Cilan officially joins Ash's traveling party with Iris.

9 Cilan Versus Trip, Ash Versus Georgia!

In the 40th episode of the Black & White series, Ash competes in the Nimbasa Pokemon Battle Tournament , which began in the previous episode. The second episode of the tournament focuses on the two matches alluded to in the title: Cilan vs. Trip, Ash's rival, and Ash vs. Georga, Iris' rival. Cilan's battle with Trip takes up the majority of this episode.

Cilan enters his match with Trip with a courteous attitude, but Trip is focused on winning. Cilan pits his Dwebble against Trip's Gurdurr, as Cilan expertly analyzes Trip's battle style, to the annoyance of Iris. Cilan's Dwebble finally manages to knock out Gurdurr, eliminating Trip from the tournament and advancing Cilan ahead, matching him up against Luke.

8 The Strongest Duo! Clemont and Cilan!

Long after Cilan departed from Ash's journey at the end of Pokemon the Series: Black & White , he returned in a special episode that takes place after the subsequent series, X & Y . Here, Cilan crosses paths with Clemont, the Lumiose City Gym Leader and Ash's traveling companion in that series. Together, they make quite a knowledgeable duo.

Related: Pokemon: Best Serena Episodes, Ranked

The two meet when Cilan observes Clemont's electronic fishing rod, criticizing it for lacking the thrill of fishing. Cilan spends the day exploring Lumiose City with Clemont and his little sister, Bonnie, before parting ways to explore the Tower of Mastery in Shalour City. However, the two first combine forces to rescue Bonnie from a faulty subway system.

7 Cilan and the Case of the Purrloin Witness!

Often, Cilan's adventures with Ash would lead for opportunities for him to flex his various skills. One of these is his detective skills, which he brings out to investigate mysteries around the Unova region. In this episode, however, Cilan must confront his fear of Purrloin to locate the thief of the Eye of Liepard, belonging to the gem collector Mrs. Ripple.

When Cilan deduces that Purrloin witnesses the thievery take place, the Dark-type Pokemon becomes integral to uncovering the perpetrator as Teaque, who used his Vanillite to carry out the crime. With their side-adventure over, Ash wonders if the experience cured Cilan's phobia, but Cilan believes it hasn't, yet hesitates to reveal the reasoning for his fear.

6 A Connoisseur's Revenge!

Cilan's Connoisseurship is a major part of his character , for both practical and comedic purposes. His expertise in various subjects makes him handy to have around for certain episodes, especially during mysteries like the previous entry. However, his Connoisseur status isn't revealed until the 19th episode of the series.

Upon visiting a shop for Connoisseurs, Cilan runs into an old challenger, Burgundy, who happens to be a child. Burgundy demands a rematch, sending her Dewott and Sawsbuck out against Cilan's Dwebble and Pansage. Cilan eventually wins, but not before betting Ash changing his entire Pokemon party if he were to have lost.

5 Clash of the Connoisseurs!

Burgundy eventually returns in episode 80, which finds Cilan and his traveling companions invited by Mr. Hatterly to help pick out his daughter's first Pokemon. However, Cilan is hired alongside Richard Nouveau, another A-class Connoisseur. The two butt heads over their choices, with Richard preferring Petilil, while Cilan thinks a dual-type Pokemon is best.

Related: Pokemon: Best Dawn Episodes, Ranked

The two end up having a Pokemon battle to determine whose advice Mr. Hatterly will take. Cilan is thrown, however, by Richard's chosen Pokemon: a Purrloin. Nevertheless, Cilan sends out his Crustle, besting Richard with a type-advantage, and simultaneously thwarting Burgundy's interruption. Having won, Cilan recommends Foongus for Hatterly's daughter.

4 Cilan Takes Flight!

In the 67th episode of Pokemon the Series: Black & White , Ash and his companions make it to Mistralton City. There, Ash plans to challenge the city's Gym Leader, Skyla, but Cilan is put-off by her method of enacting battles. Rather than actually face her opponents, Skyla analyzes the potential outcomes in her mind and determines a winner.

Cilan, feeling this is unfair as a fellow Gym Leader, challenges Skyla to a real Pokemon battle. However, Cilan's attempt to prove her method wrong fails, and Skyla actually does win the battle, just as she predicted. Though Cilan takes the loss pretty hard, it only strengthens Ash's determination to beat her in a real battle during the next episode.

3 A Call For Brotherly Love!

In this episode, Cilan reunites with his brother and fellow Gym Leader, Chili . Upon reuniting, Chili challenges Cilan to a battle, which he loses despite having a type advantage. Cilan later learns from his third brother, Cress, that Chili has been on a losing streak, but ever the supportive brother, Cilan decides to analyze Chili's battle strategy and help him win.

Cilan deduces that Chili's Pansear needs a non-Fire type move for balance. After teaching it Solar Beam to counter Pansear's weakness to Water-type Pokemon, Chili challenges Ash to a battle. Chili regains his confidence after Pansear overpowers Ash's Oshawott with a tide-turning Solar Beam, then parts ways with Cilan and his traveling companions.

2 A UFO For Elgyem!

One of the more unique episodes in Pokemon the Series: Black & White finds Ash and his friends encountering a UFO. As it turns out, the flying saucer belongs to Professor Icarus, who studies outer space. Shortly after meeting the professor, Ash, Cilan, and Iris encounter Elgyem, a Psychic-type Pokemon that's said to be from another planet .

This episode is a great opportunity for Cilan to flex his knowledge on space, something he's learned from reading Icarus' work. Cilan's space expertise ends up becoming useful as Ash and his friends attempt to rescue Elgyem from the clutches of none other than Team Rocket. Cilan plays a major role in using his Pansage to free Elgyem from his trap.

1 Cilan and Brock! Gyarados's Imperial Rage!

Clemont's meeting with Cilan in the X & Y special harkens back to another special episode that occurs at the end of Pokemon the Series: Black & White . After parting ways with Ash, Cilan meets Brock in Johto when heading to a Pokemon Center to treat his Pansage. The two eventually team up with Officer Jenny and Nurse Joy to temper an angry Gyarados.

While Pansage lulls Gyarados to sleep, Brock climbs it and uses a Super Potion on a wound that was irritating it. Sadly, Cilan and Brock never learn each others' identity, or the fact that they shared a traveling companion. Their teamwork will make any Pokemon anime fan wish they had more time to adventure together.

Episode Plot [ ]

The Don George battle tournament continues. The next battle was Cilan vs. Trip. While Cilan used Dwebble, Trip used his newly evolved Gurdurr. However, despite the evolutionary advantage, Cilan won and has moved on to the next round. Next was Stephan vs. Bianca and unfortunately Bianca lost. Then came the battle between Luke and his opponent Scooter, which Luke won. Finally, the battle between Iris and Jimmy Ray which Iris won. Soon the quarter-finals were underway with Ash going up against Georgia and her new Pawniard. If she beat Iris without batting an eye, How can Ash fair against her?

  • This is also the first time he lost to someone other than Ash.
  • This is the second time one of Ash's rivals lost to a gym leader. The first time that happened was when Gary lost to Giovanni.
  • Cilan vs. Trip
  • Stephan vs. Bianca
  • Luke vs. Scooter

  • Despite being called the Dragon Buster, Georgia has a Pawniard. Which makes no sense since Pawniard cannot learn any Ice or Dragon-type moves.
  • Trip's Gurdurr is his second Pokémon to have evolved off-screen (the first being Servine).
  • Georgia's Pawniard is confirmed female in this episode.
  • This was the final episode broadcasted in analog TV in Japan due to a switchover to digital signals in Japan 3 days after the Japanese airing.

Did Gurdurr use some sort of rock throwing move? Bianca wants Zorua I think, or more screen time. It's tasting time and Burgundy is angry.

Haha Ishizumai is a perfect pokemon for Dent and his crafty/creative ways. Gurrdurr as a pretty diverse movesets. Haha Dent and Ishizumai going fabulous on Shooti. Oh I can't believe they are losing time with Belle and Zorua, haha Zorua trolled Belle again as Langley, OMG Belle is so freaking dumb.

Yay! Cilan won!

I think that was Rock Tomb

I expected Dwebble's evolution. Here comes Bianca's battle.

Cilan won actually. Did he just take a picture after losing? Zorua transformed into Luke with his camera. Bianca, let Zorua go, it's not yours! Sheesh. Minccino vs. Zebstrika, Minccino is owning that zebra and now Minccino got curbstomped. Yep, Golett was battling and Emolga defeated Wathcog? Emolga? WTH?

And that is why Zebstrika is awesome!

Chillarmy got two shotted. WOOT? Iris isn't using Excadrill Oo.

As a young child, Trip became inspired to be a Pokémon Trainer after watching Alder battle. He later met the Champion , who would let him pet and feed the Bouffalant Alder was battling with. Afterwards, Alder offered a few words of advice, with this experience in turn inspiring Trip to work hard and train to become a Champion. As such, Trip grew up idolizing Alder and held him in high regard.

Pokémon the Series: Black & White

Trip debuted in In The Shadow of Zekrom! as a beginning Trainer ready to choose his first partner Pokémon . After meeting with Professor Juniper , he chose Snivy as his new partner. He took a dislike to Ash after learning he was from Kanto, a region Trip did not think very highly of. On his way out of the lab, he challenged Ash to a Pokémon battle. He had much interest in battling Pikachu , a species that is foreign in his region. Because Pikachu could not use any Electric-type moves at the time, it was easily defeated by the Snivy. Trip left Nuvema Town to begin his journey, rudely telling Ash to go back to the basics.

Trip was revealed by Cilan that prior to Triple Leaders, Team Threats! to have evolved his Snivy into Servine and earned the Trio Badge .

Trip appeared again at the Luxuria Town Battle Club in A Rival Battle for Club Champ! , where he and Ash had a five-on-five battle, although Trip initially offered to have a Full Battle with Ash. His Tranquill defeated Ash's Oshawott and Tepig in just two hits with its Super Luck -boosted Aerial Ace , but lost to Ash's Pikachu. Pikachu was defeated by Servine again. Snivy defeated Trip's Servine by using Attract . Trip's Frillish later defeated Pidove and Snivy, after making use of its Ability and speed , causing Ash to lose the battle. Afterwards, Trip called Pikachu and Snivy "okay", but said that the rest of Ash's team was a joke, and so was their Trainer. Trip then condescendingly departing from the Battle Club.

In A Venipede Stampede! , Trip was training in Castelia City when a swarm of Venipede suddenly attacked. He used his Lampent to try to fight them off, but Ash yelled at him for doing so, saying that he was only making things worse. Trip insulted him, but was interrupted by Burgh , who agreed with Ash. Later, Trip would continue his pursuit and went after the leader of the Venipede swarm, in spite of Burgh's words, and ordered Lampent to hit it with Shadow Ball , but Ash blocked the attack. Again, Burgh told Trip that he was going about it the wrong way, resulting in Trip stopping. Trip then used Tranquill to help coax out the remaining Venipede and lead them safely out of the city. That night he opted to head to the following city to participate in his next Gym battle rather than waiting for the Castelia Gym to be restored.

In Ash and Trip's Third Battle! , Trip, along with his Vanillite and Timburr , battled Ash once more. During their battle, Trip revealed to Ash the reason behind Oshawott's inability to use Aqua Jet and even told him about the Unova League Champion Alder. Their battle ended in a tie after Servine defeated Snivy, Vanillite tied with Tepig, and Oshawott defeated Timburr.

In Reunion Battles In Nimbasa! , Trip entered the Club Battle , a tournament held by Nimbasa Town 's Don George . He was chosen to battle Cilan in the first match up. In the next episode , he used his Gurdurr to battle against Cilan's Dwebble . During the battle Trip put Gurdurr's physical strength along with its girder to great use, giving him an early lead in the battle. Despite putting up a good fight, however, Gurdurr was defeated and Trip was knocked out of the competition. After his Pokémon healed at the Pokémon Center that night, he left Nimbasa Town believing that there was no point to staying there any longer.

pokemon cilan vs trip ash versus georgia

In Ash Versus the Champion! , Trip revealed he had already obtained five Gym Badges . During that time, he also got to reunite with Alder , who could not remember him. Seeing how much Alder loafed about while battling Ash, Trip's opinion of him slightly changed. He vowed not only to defeat him but also promised to follow the path he believed in before angrily departing.

In The Clubsplosion Begins! , Trip registered himself to compete in the Clubsplosion . He planned to compete with his newly-evolved Conkeldurr and his opponent in the first round was revealed to be Bianca , who he considered to be just practice. He then battled her and her Emboar in Search for the Clubultimate! . Though he and Conkeldurr put up a strong fight, he lost to her in the next episode . Like he did after his loss in the Club Battle, he left Ambiga Town that night rather than staying and watching the rest of the tournament.

Trip appeared again in Jostling for the Junior Cup! in order to participate in the Pokémon World Tournament Junior Cup . His goal was to win and get the chance to battle Alder. His first round battle was with Burgundy . Using his Serperior , which had evolved from Servine, he was able to defeat her quickly by utilizing a combination of Leer and Solar Beam and advanced to the second round. In Battling Authority Once Again! , Trip advanced to the semi-finals, where he once again battled Cilan. This time, however, he and Serperior managed to defeat Cilan's Crustle with a Frenzy Plant , qualifying them for the final match against Ash. In Ash, Iris, and Trip: Then There Were Three! , Trip battled Ash in the finals, using his Serperior against Ash's Pignite. Despite the type advantage and Ash's strategy to boost his own speed with Flame Charge, Serperior maintained the speed advantage. This allowed it to make quick work of Pignite, swiftly defeating it with a powerful Frenzy Plant, winning Trip the tournament in the process. In Goodbye, Junior Cup - Hello Adventure! , Trip battled Alder and his Bouffalant with his Serperior in the prize match, but despite his strategy to lower Bouffalant's guard while also attacking its weak spot, they were defeated in a single hit. After the battle, he was given a speech by Alder about deciding his own path with his Pokémon, and promised to battle him again when the time came. Afterwards, Trip would meet up with Ash and his friends following the tournament. After a brief conversation, he and Ash promised to meet with one another at Unova's League Conference . As Trip left, Iris noticed that he had greatly subdued his nasty attitude, having been humbled by his battle with Alder.

In Curtain Up, Unova League! and Mission: Defeat Your Rival! , Trip traveled to Vertress City to compete in the Vertress Conference and met up with Ash and Ash's other rivals in Unova . During the match-up process, it was revealed he would battle Ash in the first round of the competition. However, here, he was not arrogant as in past meetings and instead showed a genuine interest in battling with Ash once more. Trip used his Serperior against Ash's Pikachu, at first Pikachu unleashed a barrage of its attacks with Serperior simply avoiding every one of them with relative ease. In retaliation Serperior would unleash a devastating Dragon Tail before following with a barrage of its own techniques culminating in a Wrap attack, cornering Ash and Pikachu. But in spite of these efforts Pikachu managed to defeat Serperior, much to Trip's astonishment and disbelief, with a combination of its Electro Ball and Iron Tail, eliminating Trip from the Conference. After the battle, Trip would have one last conversation with Ash, before they ended their rivalry and became friends. Following this, Trip then left the Vertress Conference to continue his journey .

He appeared briefly in A Unova League Evolution! in Ash's flashback about his travels in Unova .

Trip made cameo appearances in the ending Let's Join Hands and in the ending credits of Genesect and the Legend Awakened .

Pokémon Journeys: The Series

In The Fiery Road to Mastership! , Trip was shown watching Iris's Masters Eight Tournament match against Cynthia .

Trip is a reserved individual who tends to keep his feelings to himself. He expressed his emotions much like Ash used to do when he first left his hometown . His strategy is all about planning ahead and completing the basics of Pokémon training . Compared to the other rivals of the Unova region, Trip is rather distant and prefers not to interact with them outside of battle. He has a teal-colored digital camera , with which he takes photos for illustrating his journey . He also has a Xtransceiver so that he can keep in touch with Battle Clubs . However, much like Ash, Trip tends to get annoyed with those who insult him, as when Iris called him a "little kid" by refusing to battle Ash, along with Cilan's desire to watch them battle, Trip finally accepted Ash's challenge, but was clearly annoyed with the circumstances.

Trip tends to think very little of the Kanto region —which he refers to as "the boonies "—and anyone from there. He thinks of Ash as a hillbilly who needs to go back to the basics of Pokémon training. However, he will help him out once in a while, as seen when he informed Ash that Oshawott 's Aqua Jet was uncontrollable because Oshawott had his eyes closed, and again when he pointed out Scraggy 's lack of master over its newly-learned Focus Blast . Despite his apparent apathy towards Ash and his generally low opinion on him as a Trainer, Trip tends to be quite attentive towards Ash's battles.

pokemon cilan vs trip ash versus georgia

Despite having just started out as a Trainer, Trip already implements many strategies in his battling. He has defeated Ash in all but two of their battles (the former which they tied, and the latter in which Ash won), despite Ash being a much more experienced Trainer. However, he is less forgiving than Ash and takes losses harder. An instance of this is, when he lost to Cilan, he took a photo of Cilan and Dwebble . When Cilan asked him why he was doing that, Trip replied that he was recording this moment so that he would remember his frustration. Trip also actively insults and is at most as mature as Ash, as shown during his childish banter with Ash during their third battle, along with when he elbowed Ash for Alder's attention.

As a result of meeting Alder as a child and the promise he was given by him, Trip viewed strength as the most important thing to accomplishing his goals. As such, he deemed any activities that wouldn't increase his strength as unnecessary as seen when he left after his losses in the Club Battle and the Clubsplosion, also when he refused to battle Ash on multiple occasions. After his reunion with Alder and his disappointment at Alder's aloofness, Trip began to seek out his own path to beating Alder and becoming Champion. During the Junior Cup, Trip had shown a heightened amount of confidence in his own abilities to the point of arrogance, believing he could defeat both Alder and Cynthia . However, after losing to Alder, he began to realize the error in his views, and as such, he had a change in his attitude. This can be seen in Curtain Up, Unova League! , when he greets Ash and his friends with a more friendly approach than before, with his change in attitude being noticed by the other characters such as Cilan and Iris. Along with his newer persona, he showed a genuine interest in battling Ash, and along with that ceased his past tendencies of mocking him. Despite his change in attitude, he still maintains his distance and prefers not to interact with the other rivals.
