Day trips to Agrigento and Piazza Armerina

This daily excursion to Agrigento and Piazza Armerina from Taormina offered by Sat Group , gives the opportunity to visit two different and amazing cities of art as well as UNESCO World Heritage sites since 1997

Across Sicily by bus with tour leader and local guide service. The city of Agrigento, situated on the south coast, is famous for its archaeological park called  Valley of the Temples consists of well-preserved temples built by the Greeks between 510 and 430 BC . Upon arrival in Agrigento, visit the Valley of the Temples: Temple of Castor and Pollux, Temple of Concord (exemplary Classical monument), Temple of June , Temple of Jove, Temple of Hercules .

Take a break for lunch (not included) and then hop back on the coach for the drive to Piazza Amerina to see the incredible Villa Romana del Casale , an old hunting lodge that is home to the planet's biggest collection of Roman mosaics. Go inside the hunting lodge (at own expense) and wander around the rooms. Linger in the thermal baths for a while trying to imagine what daily life was like here over 2,000 years ago. Walk through the dining hall and courtyard. Gawk at the awesome mosaics, especially the bikini girls .

Day trips to Lipari and Vulcano

Day trip from Taormina to Lipari and Vulcano , two amazing islands of the Aeolian Archipelago. The Aeolian islands are the patrimony of humanity as a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 2000 and boast spectacular landscapes surrounded by the turquoise waters of the Tyrrhenian Sea.

This excursion, offered by Sat Group , is a mini cruise that gives the opportunity to visit Lipari and Vulcano on the same day. Departure by bus with a tour leader to the port of Milazzo in the northern coast and proceed by private motorboat to the island of Lipari , the biggest island of the archipelago. After landing, it is possible to visit the old town with the Archaeological Park and the Cathedral . Free shopping time in the local shops on the island.

Back on board and sail along the "Faraglioni" and the "Horse’s Cave". Continue by boat to Vulcano and stop on the island with the possibility to make sulfurous mud baths in a dedicated area paying the entrance fee. Alternatively it is possible to spread out on the beach and swim in the Tyrrhenian’s warm waters.

Day trips to Palermo and Cefalù

Daily excursion to Palermo and Cefalù from Taormina offered by Sat Group , that get to know two of the most important cities of art in Sicily, became UNESCO sites in 2015 for their Arab-Norman itineraries.

Departure by bus with Tour leader on board to Palermo , capital of Sicily. Upon arrival our local guide will start the tour walking through the Quattro Canti , the Church of the Martorana , Piazza Bellini , Piazza Pretoria , the Cathedral and all the historical center including a local touch with the typical market "Capo".

In alternative to the tour of Palermo, an individual and facultative visit of Monreale , famous for its mosaics.

After lunch, drive to Cefalù on the north coast, an exciting seaside town . Visit of the historical center and the Norman Cathedral with the famous mosaic of Christ Pantocrator.

Day trips to Panarea and Stromboli

This day excursion to Panarea and Stromboli from Taormina is a suggestive mini cruise offered by Sat Group that let you explore two of the most famous Aeolian Islands , UNESCO world heritage site since 2000.

Departure by bus to the port of Milazzo in the northern coast and proceed to board a private motorboat to the island of Panarea , very famous for its fine architecture and acquaintances of the international jet-set. Leisure ashore to visit a typical village, enjoy the beach and have lunch in the local restaurants (extra). Free shopping time in the typical shops on the island.

Back onboard again and sailing around the rocks in front of Panarea. Transfer by boat to Stromboli , an island with a characteristic conical shape dominated by a perpetually active volcano. Tour of the island on the ground until sunset with the possibility to check out the black lava-sand beach. Return on board. Visit from the sea of the "Sciara del Fuoco", highlight of the excursion. It is a slide of lava from where the magma comes out and from which you can clearly admire the explosions of the volcano.

Day trips to Syracuse

Sat Group offers an amazing excursion to Syracuse from Taormina . Excursion by bus with a tour leader on board and local guide on the spot.

Meet your guide in and hop aboard your coach for a 1.5-hour ride along the coast to Syracuse.

Upon arrival in Siracusa visit the Archaeological Area of the fifth century. B.C. with the Greek Theatre , the Roman Amphitheatre , the Altar of Hieron II and the Latomies of Paradise with the Ear of Dionysius .

Afterwards, visit to the island of Ortigia , historical center, with the Temple of Apollo , the Cathedral, important baroque church built on an ancient temple, and the Fountain of Arethusa with the famous papyrus plant.

Free time to walk to the Grand Harbour with the “Foro Italico” and optional lunch in local restaurants. Entry fees are extra (free for EU citizens under 18 with a valid ID). We recommend suitable attire when visiting sacred sites.

With this cooking class in Taormina , you will enjoy a morning learning ho to prepare delicious Sicilian recipes with a master chef.

After cooking, you will taste your creations and discuss them over a cheerful lunch.

The day starts with a guided tour of the town's market and buying the ingredients for the class with an explanation from the chef and a small tasting of salamis and cheeses. The market is within walking distance from the Porta Messina Arch meeting point. Back at the restaurant, Nettuno da Siciliano, the chef will explain the dishes that you will make featuring hand-made pasta, and you will start to prepare and cook the food.

A professional sommelier will be on hand to tell you about the history and culture of wine in Sicily. After all the food is prepared, you will get to taste what you have created, accompanied by two selected wines, one white and one red.

Before leaving, you will receive an official certificate and an apron as a souvenir of this special day.

Pizza Making Class

During the Pizza Making Class in Taormina , all participants will follow the advices and the example of a professional Pizza Maker Chef throughout all the steps and then will proceed individually.

Learn from a professional Pizza Maker the art of preparing, decorating and baking pizzas. Have fun with friends and relatives and get a real certificate as a professional Pizza Maker!

The course includes demonstration and preparation by the participants of classic pizza dough and the one with whole wheat flour for bread. The highlights of the class will be roll out and stretch your pizza dough, learn the secrets to a great pizza sauce, create ideas for fun pizza toppings, bake pizzas at perfection.

At the end all participants will enjoy their pizzas with a complete meal including Bruschetta mix, mineral water, soft drinks and local wine.

  CATANIA AND CYCLOPES’ COAST

Founded by the Greeks in 729 BC, and covered seven times by lava flows, the remains from antiquity are far below today’s street level. Even the medieval Catania no longer exists: today’s lively industrial and commercial city, rebuilt after complete destruction by lava and earthquakes in the 17th century, is a Baroque city of the 18th century.

Forza D’Agro

Enjoy a traditional lemon granita while perusing around the original artefacts from the trilogy. We move to Forza D’agro , this medieval village perched high above sea level is typical of Sicily, with its cobbled narrow streets and many churches it made sense that Francis Ford Coppola would choose Forza D’agro as an excellent film location.

Taormina – The Centre

Our journey continues to Taormina , as we enter the historic centre via the famous “ Via Pirandello ”, we stop at the “ Belvedere ” for a great photo opportunity.

Take in the amazing bird’s eye views of Isola Bella “beautiful island” and the Ionian Sea .

We move on and drive to the charming medieval village of Castelmola ; this sleepy town is perched precariously above Taormina.

A stroll around is a must, with its cool medieval alleyways and picturesque piazza commanding views of the whole countryside, Mount Etna and the Ionic coastline . A visit to the renowned Turrisi Bar for some Almond wine tasting is highly recommended.

Journey back – Taormina

On route back down to Taormina we will have a photo stop opportunity. Madonna Della Rocca is a 15th Century church that has been carved out of a mountain, you will enjoy an extraordinary bird’s eye view of Taormina and the Greek Theatre . We leave Taormina and head back to the port, or your favourite airport. Our final photo stop at the panoramic Belvedere, offering breath-taking views it’s the ideal location to admire and take shots of the coastline and the fantastic Isola Bella .
