I have gone through phases with this movie, but I think I am slowly circling back around to the idea that it is better than people give it credit for. It is my 2nd favorite of the Next Gen movies.

My reaction has been the complete opposite. I used to be more forgiving when it was first released, but with each repeated viewing it grinds and annoys me more and more... All I see now is an interesting core concept that was utterly wasted by bad direction, star indulgences and safe, unoriginal writing.
I'm with Bob... it's not the worst two hours of TNG by far, but with so much TNG to choose from, why bother with a selection as downbeat and meh as Nemesis ? Especially when XI basically remade it, what with the whole planet-destroying Romulan outcast with the big-ass ship. ;-)

Nemesis was such a disappointment. The scene in the Senate at the start made me hope for some real intrigue â something with the feel of STVI. Instead, I had to watch Shinzon and some weird-looking Remans that disturbed the idea of the Romulan system that I had had in my head since TOS. :-|
To this day, I still don't understand what the Remans were supposed to be....? Were they mutated proto-Vulcans from the Exodus? Just some random pointed ear race that the Romulans subjugated? I can not even remember if the novelization explained it? John Logan boasted before the movie release how he wanted to explore Romulan Culture and explain the Two Worlds... but honestly, I left the movie more confused than when I went in.
The Remans and Picard clone did feel a bit contrived until my most recent viewing, which for some reason didn't feel that way. It seemed like a reasonable idea to clone important federation people and then shut the program down for ethical/political reasons and have to cover up the whole bloody affair.
I think they went a bit too far with the makeup for the Remans and trying to make them all scary looking. I might have bought it more they had just slight evolutionary differences due to extreme conditions and isolation.

I thought Nemesis was okaaay. Bit rubbish, too many out of character moments, and B4 (shudder). Oh and the mind rape, with Deanna's bad overacting. ugh. And then Bob rescued it. I agree with gem, but only if we're talking about Bob's cut of it. The original? HELL NO! Damn it Jim, PICARD IS NOT KIRK, so don't make him Kirk (fast an furious on the planet, die hard on a ship, etc.)
Fan edit adds emotion to Data’s death in Star Trek: Nemesis
By rachel carrington | sep 17, 2023.
Star Trek: Nemesis isn’t a fan favorite film, and one of it’s biggest negatives was the death of Lt. Commander Data.
Brent Spiner’s character had been part of Star Trek: The Next Generation for seven seasons and four movies, and while ultimately sacrificing himself for Captain Picard (Patrick Stewart) was definitely something he would do, it didn’t ease fans’ dismay. Nor did it make it any easier to say goodbye to the beloved android.
One fan, who has a Youtube Channel named Honeycutt Videos , didn’t think Data’s death was as powerful as it could have been. Had more emotion been added, it could have been as good as Spock’s death was in Wrath of Khan. And that’s how this fan video was born.
A scene was deleted from Star Trek: Nemesis that would have added so much more emotion to Data’s death.
The edit includes a deleted scene where Geordi LaForge (LeVar Burton) and Worf (Michael Dorn) are in Data’s room after his death, gathering his things, and bit by bit, we see flashes of what we loved most about Data. Geordi finds his emotion chip, something that Data had wanted for the longest of times.
There’s the copy of “The Celebrated Cases of Sherlock Holmes” along with the pipe Data used when he played Holmes. And then there was the violin which Data played in two recitals on the Enterprise. And Worf packs up a painting which was most likely one Data had created as he loved to paint despite his struggles with the lack of emotion he could imbue in them.
Then we see Data’s antique sailor’s hat from Star Trek: Generations from Worf’s promotion ceremony which took place on the holodeck. And finally, Spot, Data’s cat, jumps into Worf’s arms, and we learn that Worf has now become the feline’s uncomfortable owner. Worf quickly says he’s not a cat person, and Geordi replies “you are now.”
The only thing that would have made this video even better would have been the addition of conversation Captain Picard had with B-4 and if a scene had been filmed with LaForge mourning his friend’s death. Otherwise, the video would have been the better way to say goodbye to an officer and a friend.

STAR TREK NEMESIS EDIT MUSIC
Discussion in ' Fan Productions ' started by Forever94 , Aug 11, 2020 .

Hello. As i have announced in another post, i am working on a fan edit of Star Trek: Nemesis. The last movie with the Next Generation cast is well known as an uneven movie that combines an attempt to refresh the franchise featuring more action-packed scenes with the goal of becoming a big and nostalgic farewell to the original cast. This is without any doubt the Star Trek movie that has been more cut before the final version that was released in cinemas back in 2002. A lot of dialoge scenes and character moments were cut in order to make the film lighter and more young-appealing. My goal with this edit is to show how this film could have been if some of this deleted scenes had been kept in the edit, while also removing some of the unfortunate commercial concessions that have contributed to the film´s regular presence in "Worst Star Trek Movies" top positions. One important thing rearding the deleted scenes is the soundtrack. Chateau Picard scene has been already edited in some amateur fan videos. One of them was posted in YouTube and features "An Honor", a track from the original score that appears in the Riker´s farewell scene. Since the begining i always tought that is a good choice, as both scenes feature the same thematic about the passing of time and the main characters saying goodbye to each other as they´re going to new adventures. Now i´m trying to bring life to the other scenes with music and i would like to hear some suggestions. Which music do you thin could fit the following deleted scenes: Geordi and Worf in Data´s quarters. 1:43 Crusher joins Starfleet Medical. 0:36 Federation Protocols 1:00 Turbolift violation 1:15 Wesley scene during the wedding. 0:54 Chateau Picard 4:03 (Before the last part)

Dec 23, 2023. The 4K remaster of the extended cut of The Motion Picture plus the inclusion of previously unseen deleted scenes (some in HD, some in SD) surprised me. I hope to one day see the additional half hour of scenes deleted from Nemesis which were never released.

Artwork. Video. Reviews. Brief Synopsis: This is a cut of 'The Motion Picture' that attempts to get a little closer to the excitement and pacing of the Original-Series and the five Original-Crew films that followed it. Intention: 'The Motion Picture' has always been a tie for my least favourite Star Trek film (With 'Nemesis').
I did this quite a few years ago just for something to do. I do not own the rights to the video elements or the music.
