The four teams, Atlético de Madrid, Sevilla FC, Real Betis Balompié, and Real Sociedad, will face off in front of North American fans with games taking place in Mexico’s 2026 World Cup venues and San Francisco's iconic Oracle Park
NEW YORK--( BUSINESS WIRE )--LaLiga Summer Tour, the top Spanish professional league’s platform to organize tours in the summer window, will bring four teams - Atlético de Madrid, Sevilla FC, Real Betis Balompié, and Real Sociedad - to North America for four friendly matches this summer. The matches will take place in Mexico and the United States, giving North American soccer fans a chance to experience the excitement of LaLiga up close.
To kick off the tour, Atlético de Madrid will take on Real Sociedad at the Estadio BBVA in Monterrey, Mexico on Wednesday, August 2nd, while Sevilla FC will face Real Betis in a derby rivalry fixture at the Estadio Akron in Guadalajara, Mexico. These matches will mark the first time ever that two LaLiga clubs will play head-to-head in a friendly match on Mexican soil. The tour will culminate in a double-header at Oracle Park in San Francisco, California on Saturday, August 5th where Atlético de Madrid will play against Sevilla, and Real Betis will round out tour play against Real Sociedad.
This continues LaLiga North America’s strategy to expand the fan base for LaLiga, it’s clubs, and players across the United States and Mexico, particularly engaging with young and diverse followers. In partnership with Relevent Sports, the premier soccer events and media company in North America, the LaLiga Summer Tour will be the biggest tour LaLiga has organized outside of Spain. Relevent will organize and operate the tournament across each date.
"The LaLiga Summer Tour is an exciting opportunity for us to continue reaching new fans by bringing the history and passion of LaLiga to North America," said Óscar Mayo, Executive General Director of LaLiga. "LaLiga is in a period of rapid transformation as more teams are improving and the athletes are reaching entirely new fan bases globally. There’s a real passion growing in Mexico and the United States for the sport and we hope to tap into that with this tour.”
"We are thrilled to bring our teams to North America and showcase the talent and excitement of LaLiga to fans across the continent. We believe that through these matches we can continue to foster deeper connections with our fans across Mexico and the United States," added Boris Gartner, CEO of LaLiga North America.
Tickets for the LaLiga Summer Tour will go on sale on April 27th. Fans can find out more information and have access to priority ticket purchasing by visiting the following link: https://www.releventsportsgroup.com/laliga

“North America is a key market,” La Liga North America president Boris Gartner told ESPN . “The Premier League has been a lot more intentional in their international expansion over the past decade. But if you really look at the demographic in general, this country is probably getting more diverse and multicultural by the day. … we feel that we have a lot to do, but that this territory specifically, and North America in general, is a huge growth market where we have really great cultural connection, language connection with, with the growing demographic in the country.”

“La Liga Summer Tour” will bring Spanish professional soccer teams to Guadalajara and Monterrey
Atlético de Madrid, Sevilla, Betis, and Real Sociedad will compete in a summer tournament in Mexico and the United States, the Spanish league announced on Tuesday, April 11th.
There will be four friendly matches at the beginning of August, the first two in Mexico and the last two in the United States. Atlético and Real Sociedad will meet on August 2 at the BBVA stadium in Monterrey, while Sevilla and Betis will star in an Andalusian derby that same day at the Akron stadium in Guadalajara. It will be the first time that two teams from the Spanish first division meet in a friendly in Mexico.
The summer tour — called the “La Liga Summer Tour” — will culminate on August 5, with a double day at Oracle Park in San Francisco, where Atlético de Madrid will meet Sevilla and Betis against Real Sociedad.
“ It is a great opportunity to continue attracting new fans in North America through the history and passion of the League” , said Óscar Mayo, Executive General Director of the Spanish tournament in a statement. “ There is a real passion for soccer growing in Mexico and the United States, and we look forward to seizing that opportunity with this tour.”

La Liga announces plans for summer tour of USA and Mexico
La Liga has announced plans for a first summer tour of the United States and Mexico beginning later this year.
The league’s latest development strategy is organised by Relevent Sports – one of the most influential privately-owned international football companies in the world.
OneFootball Videos
It will feature friendly matches between some of the division’s ‘legendary’ clubs.
However, it is understood that Real Madrid and Barcelona, who meet in El Clasico this weekend , are not expected to compete in the tour.
The tour is aimed at establishing a footprint of the Spanish top-flight division in key markets, including North America, and provide fans with an opportunity to watch some of the league’s best players and teams compete in their own backyard.
The games will take place in various cities across the United States and Mexico and are expected to attract a large number of fans from different parts of the country.
A statement from La Liga said: “The summer tour is part of La Liga and its clubs’ strategy to grow the Spanish Professional League’s footprint in the United States and Mexico.
“The tour will make its first stop in 2023 in the United States and Mexico. It will continue the strategy to develop and grow the league, its clubs, and competitions in North American markets.
“The United States and Mexico represent an important opportunity for La Liga and its clubs in brand and business development, especially in the run-up to the FIFA World Cup in 2016.”
The 2023 summer tour will take place during the first week of August, and the teams and cities where the friendly matches will take place will be announced in the coming days.
La Liga is not alone in its quest to grow viewership in the American market. Premier League club Manchester United have also confirmed that their pre-season tour scheduled for later this year will take place in the US.
It will be the first time the Red Devils prepare for a new campaign in North America since the summer of 2018, when they visited five US states, including Arizona, California and Miami.

LaLiga US tour excludes Barca, Real Madrid due to Super League
by Kyle Fansler April 13, 2023
LaLiga is organizing a summer tour in the US and Mexico that features four teams. Notably, that set of four teams does not include the two most popular teams in the Spanish top flight, Real Madrid and Barcelona . Instead, the four clubs traveling with LaLiga are Atletico Madrid , Sevilla, Real Sociedad and Real Betis.
An announcement from LaLiga North America stated that those four teams will play a total of four games. Intercity rivals Sevilla and Betis play one another in Guadalajara on Aug. 2. On the same day in Monterrey, Atletico Madrid takes on Real Sociedad. Three days later, there is a doubleheader in San Francisco at Oracle Park, the home of MLB’s San Francisco Giants. Atletico faces Sevilla, and Sociedad battles Betis.
The set of games are a bid to boost the growing presence of LaLiga in North America . However, there may be concerns over how effective this competition can be without titans like Barcelona and Real Madrid. Right now, LaLiga and those two clubs have a tense relationship. Both still are pushing to make the European Super League happen, which is a concept LaLiga is firmly against.
In a LaLiga statement in February 2023, league president Javier Tebas said the Super League will wreak havoc on domestic leagues.
“Domestic leagues run the risk of disappearing with a Super League format,” Tebas said . “If their model is based on ‘several divisions’, with an elite group ensuring they stay in the top flight, their model is not 100 percent open as they falsely promise.”
LaLiga US tour goes against Barcelona and Real Madrid
The LaLiga tour going on without Barcelona and Real Madrid could damage the popularity of the games, particularly in the United States. While there are representatives from El Tri on Real Betis and Sevilla, these four clubs do not have the same impact of UEFA Champions League-winning clubs such as Barcelona or Real Madrid.
Even worse, both clubs are planning games in the United States for the summer of 2023. That includes a potential third Clásico in the United States . Real Madrid played Barcelona in Miami in 2017, then they played again in Las Vegas this past summer. Both of those games, which were fairly independent from LaLiga, were massive successes . The Miami game brought in 1.7 million viewers on ESPN .
TV coverage and tickets for the LaLiga tour across the US and Mexico are still not available. Yet, based on LaLiga North America’s deal with Relevent, LaLiga now has production studios in Mexico, and the league has a media rights deal with ESPN, where most of the LaLiga TV schedule features on ESPN+.
The fact that Real Madrid and Barcelona are not involved in LaLiga’s official summer tour of the United States is a concern. With LaLiga battling against the popularity of the Premier League and Liga MX in the United States, LaLiga needs a united front. Instead, the split between the top two clubs and LaLiga is a detriment to what could have been so much bigger and better.

The first LALIGA Summer Tour comes to an end attracting more than 100,000 spectators
The four friendly matches involving Atlético de Madrid, Real Betis, Real Sociedad and Sevilla FC in Mexico and the United States allowed fans from both countries to get closer to their LALIGA EA SPORTS idols.
LUN 07.08.2023
The first ever LALIGA Summer Tour , the platform created by LALIGA to take LALIGA pre-season matches to different parts of the world, comes to an end following a successful visit to North America. In total, more than 100,000 fans experienced the passion of the LALIGA clubs at stadiums in Guadalajara, Monterrey and San Francisco.
The tour featuring Atlético de Madrid, Real Betis, Real Sociedad and Sevilla FC brought LALIGA fans in Mexico and the United States together at four matches: ElGranDerbi, held at the Estadio Akron in Guadalajara (Mexico); Atlético de Madrid - Real Sociedad, played at the Estadio BBVA in Monterrey (Mexico); and two matches staged at Oracle Park in San Francisco (USA): Real Sociedad - Real Betis and Sevilla FC - Atlético de Madrid.
In total, more than 100,000 fans packed the stands of the three stadiums with more than 30 different activities involving LALIGA sponsors, including a visit to EA SPORTS headquarters in San Francisco. There were also events with Sorare, Verizon, PUMA, Golball, CHUBB, Motorola and Camarena which included players. In addition, the clubs visited local teams such as the Golden State Warriors and the San Francisco 49ers.
LALIGA Summer Tour perfectly complements LALIGA North America's strategy to expand the fan base of the competition and clubs in the United States and Mexico, in attracting a young and multicultural audience. In partnership with Relevent Sports, the leading football media and events company in North America, LALIGA Summer Tour was the largest and most comprehensive tour ever organised outside of Spain.
For Boris Gartner, CEO of LALIGA North America , “this first edition of the LALIGA Summer Tour serves as an opportunity to see the passion at our clubs' matches outside Spain and as a foundation for the next editions. It's a crucial move in demonstrating and reinforcing LALIGA's international expansion, both in Mexico and the United States, which are two strategic territories for the majority of LALIGA clubs. We will keep working to bring the competition even closer to our fans and continue to create initiatives - such as the LALIGA Summer Tour - to bring the best clubs to North America”.

Manchester United and Liverpool vying to sign teenage La Liga superstar: report
Both Manchester United and Liverpool are lining up moves for a Barcelona 19-year-old
Manchester United and Liverpool are rumoured to be battling it out for one of Barcelona's teenage stars.
Both Premier League clubs are said to have sent scouts to watch the 19-year-old in Spain over the past 12 months, with a possible summer transfer on the cards.
Barca boss Xavi is set to leave the club later this year and with his successor still yet to be confirmed, plenty of players could still seek pastures new away from the Nou Camp.

According to SportsWitness , it is 19-year-old Mikayl Faye who is liked by both Manchester United and Liverpool.
The Senegal international is already capped by his country and has recently been promoted to feature in several of Barcelona's first-team squads. A centre-back by trade, the defender began his career with Diambars FC in Gambia, before moving to Croatian side NK Kustosija in 2022.
Having been spotted by the Catalan giants, he is yet to make his La Liga debut but is highly rated due to his tally frame and physical strength in possession. He also scored on his senior debut for Senegal just last month in a friendly match against Gabon.

Having nurtured his game in Europe, Faye is the next big thing to have progressed from the impressive academy of La Masia . Ugo Klingo, coach of Croatian side NK Kustosija, recently told the media that he expects the Barcelona youngster to reach the very top of the modern game due to his abilities.
"I called Mika 'Football Monster' from the moment I saw him," he began recently . "The explosiveness and power he produces in attack or defence are unique.
"Mikayil is a modern player. He is still young, but I firmly believe he can become a great player.
"Talented players need time, consistency and support. Arsene Wenger once said, Modric will never play in the Premier League, his physicality is just not good enough, and look at everything he did. If they can have a solid mentality on the football field, they are very likely to perform at the highest level."

Brentford loanee Sergio Reguilon is facing another uncertain summer
Sergio Reguilon had not scored a goal or provided an assist for nearly two years before he joined Brentford on loan from Tottenham Hotspur in January. For an attacking full-back who likes to whip crosses into the box, it was an unwelcome record.
When Brentford were convincing Reguilon to spend the second half of the season in west London, following a brief stint with Manchester United , Thomas Frank pitched how he would be a perfect fit for their 3-5-2 system. He had performed that role during Antonio Conte’s reign at Spurs.
Reguilon would be given the freedom to take up dangerous positions on the left wing and provide service for Ivan Toney . Frank offered Reguilon the oddly specific prediction that he would register six assists and score two goals before he returned to north London.
Reguilon has not reached those attacking heights, and time is running out with five games of the campaign remaining, but he has impressed. The 27-year-old has chipped in with three assists in 11 appearances and produced a superb performance in their 3-3 draw with Aston Villa on April 6. Brentford were four points above 18th-placed Luton Town when he joined and that margin has increased to seven ahead of their encounter at Kenilworth Road on Saturday.
Yet despite the mutual attraction, Reguilon is unlikely to join them permanently. For the third summer in a row he will find himself surplus to requirements at Spurs and in need of a new home.
So what happens next? The Athletic breaks down the situation over his long-term future.
Reguilon joined Manchester United on the last day of the summer transfer window to provide cover at left-back, with Tyrell Malacia out of the squad with an injury. Erik ten Hag, the United manager, did not want to continue the season with only one fit left-sided defender.
The Spaniard arrived on a season-long loan deal that did not include a fee or an option to buy. He made 12 appearances for United and became an important player as Luke Shaw recovered from a muscle injury.
Such was his passion, Regulion was in tears in the Old Trafford dressing room after Ten Hag’s side were knocked out of the Carabao Cup in November, losing 3-0 to Newcastle United . Ten Hag sanctioned Reguilon’s loan move being cut short in January as he expected a fit Shaw and Malacia to return and he did not want three left-backs competing for one spot. Malacia, however, is still yet to play a match this season , and Shaw has since sustained another injury, meaning the club really could have done with keeping Reguilon at Old Trafford.
Brentford rarely sign players on loan because they believe it only benefits the parent club long-term, yet they were willing to break their own rule for Reguilon. ( Neal Maupay is also at the club on loan from Everton , but Brentford have the option to make his move permanent, which is not the case with Reguilon.)
Brentford desperately needed experienced defensive cover. Rico Henry ruptured the anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) in his left knee in a 1-0 defeat to Newcastle United in September and was ruled out for the rest of the campaign. Aaron Hickey suffered a hamstring injury in training in November and it has taken him longer to recover than expected. The Scotland international’s last appearance was in October and Frank said last week, “I don’t expect him to be available before the end of the season.” Mads Roerslev and Kristoffer Ajer were the only recognised fit full-backs so, on occasion, midfielders Vitaly Janelt and Saman Ghoddos have had to fill in.
The recruitment department highlighted Reguilon because he has a similar stylistic profile to Henry. He made his debut off the bench in Brentford’s 3-2 victory over Nottingham Forest but then missed their clash against Spurs due to the conditions of his loan. He started in a 3-1 defeat to Manchester City and provided an assist for Christian Norgaard in a crucial 2-0 win over Wolverhampton Wanderers . It was the first time Reguilon had set up a goal since Son Heung-Min converted his cross in Spurs’ 2-0 victory against Brentford in December 2021.
Reguilon’s time with Brentford has not been entirely smooth. Injuries to Ethan Pinnock and Ben Mee mean that he has played alongside multiple centre-back combinations and found it difficult to develop relationships. In the 2-2 draw with Chelsea he argued with his team-mates, including the captain Norgaard, as frustrations boiled over and their winless run extended.
Mohammed Kudus tormented Reguilon in West Ham United ’s 4-2 victory over Brentford in February. In an interview with The Times, Reguilon said he had apologised to Frank for the “shit performance” and “put it in the top three of the worst of my career”. He may have wished to revise that list a few weeks later when he received a red card and conceded a penalty after just five minutes of the game at Burnley. Brentford needed three points and Reguilon had sent them on their way to a 2-1 defeat.
Thankfully for both club and player, there was to be an upturn. Reguilon was a constant threat and played a role in all three goals as Brentford recovered from 2-0 down to earn a point against Villa. He combined effectively with Mikkel Damsgaard and Yoane Wissa . The trio repeated the act in last weekend’s 2-0 victory over Sheffield United . Brentford took a huge step towards safety with that result and Reguilon was fully involved in the post-match celebrations.

Frank, director of football Phil Giles and technical director Lee Dykes held a meeting in the first week of April to sketch out their transfer plans for the summer. Centre-back, central midfield and full-back were highlighted as areas for reinforcement. Despite some difficult moments, Reguilon has done enough for them to consider signing him permanently.
The 27-year-old’s wages make any potential deal difficult. He has been on around £100,000 a week at Spurs since signing in September 2020 — double the amount Brentford’s highest earners are on. Brentford are only covering a portion of his wages during his loan spell and he would need to accept a significant pay cut to stay. Reguilon has one year left on his contract and Spurs would want to recoup some of the £27.5million ($34.3m) they paid Real Madrid for him too.
Henry’s recovery from his ACL injury is progressing well and he should be fit for the start of pre-season. He is the longest-serving member of the squad and was one of Brentford’s best players during their first two years in the top-flight. Henry, 26, is the undisputed first-choice left-back and Brentford will consider if it’s worth shelling out on big wages for a back-up option.
Brentford B captain Val Adedokun signed a two-year contract extension in February and has featured on the bench five times this season. Signing a young full-back who can cover both wings, like Hickey, and officially promoting Adedokun into the first-team might be the shrewdest option.
Reguilon has enjoyed his time at Brentford and has a good relationship with Frank. He has been impressed with how the club operate and their ambitious plans for the future. He is in the prime of his career though and his next move is crucial.
He made two appearances for United in the Champions League this season and wants to return to that level. There have been no official approaches for Reguilon but a few clubs in European competition have asked to be kept updated on his situation.
As for the chance of resurrecting his career at Spurs, that looks extremely unlikely. Tottenham’s head coach Ange Postecoglou has made his position on the player pretty clear by sanctioning two loans for him this season. As did his predecessor Conte, who didn’t take Reguilon on the club’s pre-season tour of South Korea in 2022, precipitating his loan move to Atletico Madrid that summer.
Reguilon started very well at Spurs under Jose Mourinho and was initially a very positive presence around the club. But there has been a perception internally that when things are going less well and/or he’s no longer being picked, Reguilon isn’t the easiest of characters. The general view is that he needs to feel loved to really thrive, and the reality is that at Spurs he won’t get the game time for that to happen.
Reguilon has also spoken publicly of his dissatisfaction with what he perceived to be mixed messaging from Spurs last summer. “One day is ‘yes’, next day is ‘no’,” he said in March of finding out that he was no longer part of the club’s plans. “I didn’t understand and still don’t understand the situation.”
Whatever the rights and wrongs of that perception, what’s clear is that, as with the previous two summers, Spurs will be looking to find someone to take Reguilon off their hands. Which is a shame for a player who started so promisingly with the club.

Liverpool launch £51m transfer ‘bomb’ for La Liga star after claims Salah move is ‘agreed’
L iverpool are reportedly readying an offer for Real Sociedad winger Takefusa Kubo amid claims that Mohamed Salah could leave Anfield this summer.
The Reds could need a new forward in the summer transfer window if Salah decides to leave with reports that sides from Saudi Arabia could again test Liverpool’s resolve.
Will Mohamed Salah follow Jurgen Klopp out of Liverpool?
Salah was the subject of interest from Al-Ittihad with the Saudi Pro League side making a £150m offer for the Egypt international , which was swiftly rejected by Liverpool.
There were even reports at the time claiming that Al-Ittihad were prepared to go up to £200m for Salah but the Reds made it clear that the Egyptian is not for sale at any price.
But with Jurgen Klopp announcing that he is leaving at the end of the season it could be the right time for Salah to depart too with rumours of renewed interest from Saudi Arabia .
Saudi Pro League director of football Michael Emenalo even hinted in December that they are likely to come back in for Salah as they look to make him the face of the league.
READ MORE: Man City can ‘shop at Harrods’ every day; Arsenal and Liverpool cannot
“Mo Salah, like [Lionel] Messi, [Karim] Benzema, [Cristiano] Ronaldo and the likes of Kevin De Bruyne, these are players that when there is a sense of availability for them, we are willing to listen,” Emenalo told Sky Sports .
“But we also understand that Mo is happy where he is at present and in a historic, wonderful club at Liverpool. We respect that very much and we don’t want to come across as putting any pressure on him.
“But if there is any interest to do something, Mo Salah is a player that you want in your league, in any league.
“We respect Liverpool and in this scenario, the initiative to do anything won’t come from us. There has to be an aligned interest from all parties involved.
“It’s a very personal thing, as a player that I recruited [for Chelsea] and I like. There’s nothing I’m saying that is new or ground-breaking – that a player of this level of talent is available and your league wants him.
“If Mo Salah is available, has an interest to come and everything is aligned, I would be incredibly delighted.”
One way they could look to plug the potential gap left by Salah is to sign Real Sociedad’s Kubo with Spanish website Fichajes claiming that Liverpool are now in ‘attack mode’ ahead of the summer and are ‘prepared to launch an offensive’ for the Japan international.
The Premier League side are set to drop a transfer ‘bomb’ worth €60m (£51m) for Kubo but, despite Liverpool ‘determined to sign’ the Japanese winger, the 22-year-old’s ‘desire is to remain in Spain’.
Jose Enrique: I believe Salah will finally go to Saudi Arabia
That could leave Liverpool looking for another option to replace Salah after their former defender Jose Enrique tipped the Egyptian to “finally go” to the Middle East following a “real offer” of £200m.
“If the right offer comes then I think Salah will leave because I think he was actually trying to leave last summer,” Enrique told Grosvenor Sport .
“They were offered something like £200 million for him last summer and that was a real offer!
“When you get an offer like that, usually it means there is already an agreement between the player and the club. I think Salah had already agreed to go and I believe that he will finally go to Saudi Arabia this summer.”
Enrique added: “Jurgen Klopp is leaving so it is the perfect time for Salah to go. There is a new cycle happening at Liverpool and lots of changes, so it is perfect for him. This will likely be the final big contract of his career, so I think he’ll leave for Saudi Arabia.”
Shakira: Cómo, dónde y cuándo llegará ‘Las Mujeres Ya No Lloran World Tour’

Taylor Swift Eras tour ticket scams could have conned UK fans out of more than £1m, bank warns
Fans of Coldplay, Beyonce and Harry Styles were also targeted by scams last summer, Lloyds has said. The bank has issued a warning to fans after analysing reports of customers who have been conned since tickets went on sale in 2023.
Wednesday 17 April 2024 00:54, UK
Taylor Swift fans in the UK could have already lost more than £1m to con artists pretending to sell concert tickets for her Eras tour, a major bank has estimated.
Lloyds Bank has issued a warning to fans based on an analysis of purchase scams reported by its customers, as well as those of Halifax and Bank of Scotland, where Swift and/or the Eras Tour were referenced as part of the claim.
More than 600 Lloyds Banking Group customers have reported being scammed since tickets went on sale in July 2023.
Each victim lost £332 on average, though in some cases the loss was more than £1,000, Lloyds said.
With the figures based solely on its own customer data, Lloyds estimates there are likely to have been at least 3,000 victims across the UK - with more than £1m lost to fraudsters - based on its current account market share and assuming similar trends across other UK banks.
Fans aged 25 to 34 trying to buy sold-out tickets are most likely to be targeted, with many scams originating on social media, Lloyds warned.
Fans of Coldplay , Beyonce and Harry Styles were also targeted by scams last summer, it added.
Purchase scams involve tricking someone into sending money via bank transfer to buy goods or services that are fake, shoddy, or do not exist.
Ticket scams often involve fake adverts, posts or listings on social media, offering tickets or access to events which have already sold out as fraudsters know they can cash in on eager fans willing to pay much more by falsely claiming to have tickets for sale.
Swift's record-breaking Eras tour is set to gross more than $1bn (£813m), according to reports, with tickets for shows selling out as soon as they went on sale.
By the time it ends in December, the star will have played more than 150 shows across five continents.

'If it looks too good to be true, it probably is'
Lisa Webb, consumer law expert at Which?, said people buying gig tickets should use a credit card for anything costing more than £100, or PayPal, as both these methods can provide protection.
"We've heard from disappointed Swifties who have bought tickets on social media, only to realise it's a scam when their promised tickets never materialise," she said. "Unfortunately, if it looks too good to be true, it probably is.
"Don't be tempted to buy tickets from anyone other than authorised sellers, as your rights can be significantly reduced if something goes wrong."

Anyone who thinks they have fallen victim to a ticket scam should contact their bank and report it to Action Fraud or Police Scotland, she added.
Liz Ziegler, Lloyds Bank fraud prevention director, said: "It's easy to let our emotions get the better of us when we find out our favourite artist is going to be performing live, but it's important not to let those feelings cloud our judgement when trying to get hold of tickets."
