How A Foreign Affair Began

Advanced brainstorming saw the idea broaden to that of a computerized, world wide international matchmaking organization. It was a visionary business plan, ripe with opportunity. It was an exciting adventure for the three (then) bachelors from Phoenix. Bringing the plan to fruition required a lot of hard work, but after many long days and nights they combined their efforts with a small start up investment. On Saturday, February 10, 1996, LoveMe.com was registered and became the first internet-based International Marriage Agency in the world.

Since that time, John, Ron, and Ken have all found and married Russian brides with the help of LoveMe.com/A Foreign Affair. LoveMe.com , or A Foreign Affair as it is also known, is a very impressive foreign bride website and is extremely popular with those who are looking for foreign tours to visit their prospective brides. LoveMe.com has a wealth of tours available to choose from, together with a vast amount of information to help you get the most from those tours. All tours are met in the United States by at least one American Tour director, in addition to experienced English speaking foreign staff. LoveMe.com is one of the largest tour companies that we've come across in this industry and the only one to have offices based in every tour city destination. As such, if you're looking for a romantic tour, you really can't go wrong with LoveMe.com. Check out the pictures of previous tours by visiting LoveMe.com and click on the "Foreign Women's Profiles" link at the top of the page. Links to pictures and videos of previous tours are then to be found at the bottom of the next page.

LoveMe.com also offers a great search facility, which allows you to search several cities in multiple countries at once, which we thought was a really nice touch. You can also browse women by country and by profession, which is another nice touch. Just click on "Foreign Women's Profiles" at the top of the page and check out the women who are professional models! Whooha! Whilst we were very impressed with the services and advice offered by A Foreign Affair, we found its pricing system of purchasing virtual email addresses a bit complicated (see above for a complete description of how this works) and we found the $95 activation fee for the first month of your Platinum membership a bit steep. However, if you're serious about finding a gorgeous foreign wife then that might be a small price to pay. Despite a rather dated website (loveme.com doesn't seems to have got on board with web 2.0), and obvious use of stock photos, the sheer amount of features available to users remains the most impressive, and important, selling point of this service. At the end of the day, it all depends on how many women you find on the website that take your fancy.

From John Narducci's Los Angeles-based Powershot Productions comes the latest expose into the fascinating world of international romance tours. �Love Me - The Documentary,� collaboration between Powershot and the oft-scrutinized Phoenix, Arizona-based A Foreign Affair, (whose website, loveme.com, inspired the name of the film) will debut this month at the Toronto Film Festival. A true labor of love constructed after three years of exhaustive filming, interviewing, editing, and research, �Love Me� parallel�s the experiences of 6 mostly middle-aged foreign bride finders as they travel to Ukraine in search of a wife.

Though A Foreign Affair has been introducing domestic men to international women for roughly the past 15 years, the romance tour phenomenon is still unknown to millions of eligible bachelors. Here, Narducci sets up the preliminary how and why hundreds of men each year learn about romance tours and decide, sometimes out of sheer dating-desperation, to join one. Bobby, from Virginia, says, "I don't meet a lot of folks for relationship purposes." Travis, looking longingly out over a frozen Wisconsin lake in mid-winter echoes, "I just didn't want to be alone anymore. Ron adds "I typed into Google something about mail-order-brides. A Foreign Affair came up. I started getting letters from some women in Ukraine. I didn�t even know what Ukraine was. I spent a lot of money on correspondence and I thought, I got to just go over there and meet these women.� And meet women he did.

Once on the ground in Ukraine, Ron and his romance tour brothers are nervously introduced to hundreds of beautiful Ukrainian ladies at AFA�s singles parties, called �socials.� In a tastefully effective environment, there�s dancing, champagne, and lots of flirting. The women are indeed lovely and plentiful. Even Robert, the paternal tour leader, seems to be having the time of his life playing �get to know me� games with ladies. With their jet lag and initial jitters behind them, and dates lined up from here to high heaven, the group gets off to a promising start. You�re already thinking, �This looks way too easy.�

And you'd be right.

All the men meet women they fall in love with, except Ron. Ron seems to struggle with his decision to participate in a romance tour from the beginning and looks uncomfortable during the social introduction process. Ultimately, he decides all Ukrainian women are too "unfriendly" and returns home to date American again. Eric, a likeable, mild-mannered Texan and Robert, a Civil Engineer from Fresno, California meet cuddly blondes, Inna and Vitalina, who seem genuinely happy to have been fished out of the Black Sea of faces. Eric and Robert both go on to get engaged and married. Life after marriage has it's usual challenges and celebrations: Eric and Inna have a baby boy. Vitalina's father passes away shortly after her arrival here in the states.

The remaining three romance tourists, Bobby, Travis and Michael, find love - and confusion - abroad as things start out well but don't work out as expected. After months of correspondence, Bobby's girl does not readily accept his marriage proposal, delivered an hour after they finally meet at a hotel restaurant. Travis plans a follow up visit to Odessa to spend more time with his Victoria. All goes well for awhile, until... And Michael, a gregarious Aussie whose beauty from Kiev is obviously more in love with her than she is with him. Can he turn things around? "I'm going to give it my best (explicative) shot," he promises.

For John Adams, loveme.com's CEO and Romance Tour Leader, orchestrating the daily introductions and large social parties for a group of 25 - 50 men, half of whom have never traveled out of the country before and many who may not have dates successfully in recent months, if not years, can't be an easy task. Some men appear to be more than eager to get the tour's events underway. Others are obviously not in their comfort zone. How much of an impact will 20 years of Tour Leadership have at critical times?

Love Me is thought-provoking. At times poignant. At other times, jubilant. And in the end, it leaves viewers with plenty of questions to ponder about men, women and the lengths every day ordinary people may go to, to find love and live happily every after.

Olivia Rodrigo Says 'It's an Honor' to Sing 'You Were Meant for Me' with Jewel at 4th Sold-Out N.Y.C. Show

"She is such an incredible songwriter," said Rodrigo of Jewel during her Guts World Tour stop at Madison Square Garden

Olivia Rodrigo ended the first North American leg of her Guts World Tour with a special guest appearance from Jewel .

During Rodrigo's fourth consecutive show at New York City's Madison Square Garden on Tuesday, she surprised the crowd by bringing out Jewel to sing a duet version of the Alaskan-raised singer-songwriter's early hit, "You Were Meant for Me."

"She is such an incredible songwriter. When I first started writing my songs, I would listen to her album  Pieces of You  before I went to bed," said the 21-year-old "Vampire" performer, as she introduced Jewel, 49, to the stage, according to fan-captured footage .

"She’s incredible, and it’s such an honor that she’s here with me tonight," added Rodrigo.

The musicians stood side-by-side as they strummed guitars and sang the song's melancholy lyrics: "Dreams last so long / Even after you're gone / I know that you love me / And soon I know you will see / You were meant for me / And I was meant for you."

After the show, Jewel reposted several concertgoers' videos of the moment to her Instagram Stories, writing alongside one that the performance with Rodrigo was "so much fun."

Released on her debut album Pieces of You in 1995, "You Were Meant for Me" was issued as an official single the next year and peaked at No. 2 on the Billboard Hot 100, a feat Jewel only reached once again with its follow-up, "Foolish Games."

The "Hands" singer isn't the only guest who joined Rodrigo on stage during her four MSG shows. At the first on April 5, Noah Kahan came out to perform a rendition of his hit "Stick Season" with her as they both played acoustic guitars.

"Stick season at madison square garden 🥹. @noahkahanmusic is the greatest of allllll time !!!!!!" Rodrigo wrote alongside a  video shared on Instagram  of the duet.

In the comments section, Kahan praised the moment, writing, "Better than the original!! Olivia you’re a star best show I’ve ever seen."

Rodrigo's Guts World Tour launches its European leg on April 30 at 3Arena in Dublin, before making stops throughout England, Scotland, Germany, France, Italy and more countries through June 23. Then, she'll return stateside for a second string of North American shows from July 19 through August 17.

The fall just got a little bit sweeter for country music fans. Sugarland reunited and met Little Big Town on stage at Sunday's CMT Music Awards to deliver a cover of Phil Collins' "Take Me Home," to deliver one of the night's most epic performances.

The bands last performed together on the CMT Music Awards in 2008 when they covered "Life In A Northern Town" alongside Jake Owen. The performance sparked a Grammy win for the artists.

"That was unreal," Little Big Town's Kimberly Schlapman said of the Grammy win. "Let's do that again. "

"Take Me Home" is on streaming services now, and the two bands and long-time friends are heading on tour in October. Tickets for the Take Me Home Tour, also featuring the Castellows, are on sale now.

"We would not have had this 25-year-long career without the fans," Schlapman said. "I just want them to feel like this is their story just as much as it is ours. We'll want to make sure we do all the songs that have become people's anthems and our big hit songs. And then we'll also want to do songs that are incredibly just meaningful to the band and songs that fans didn't hear on the radio, but that they have spoken up about and have become so important to them."

The tour marks Little Big Town's 25th anniversary as a group and falls on the 20th anniversary of Sugarland's breakthrough hit "Baby Girl."

"Sugarland and Little Big Town have been close friends since the beginning of both of our careers," Bush said. "Great things happen when we're on stage and in the studio. We're so excited to make music together again."

Schlapman credits Bush for the idea of reimagining Collins' "Take Me Home," which she said is not only a personal song to her, but the rest of the band loved it, too.

"I was like, 'Yes, yes, yes,'" Schlapman said. "I love it. And I'm telling you, it is fun. It's awesome. We sang our hearts out. We had so much fun doing it together. And I think the fans are going to feel it, and I think it's going to bring them back to the days of 'Life In A Northern Town,' which as far as I know, has never been done again. That kind of magic happened because the fans heard us do the song and loved it, and then it became a big old hit song, and then it won us a Grammy."

"Take Me Home" was initially written and released by Collins in 1985. Schlapman and her bandmates Karen Fairchild, Jimi Westbrook and Phillip Sweet join Bush and his duo partner Jennifer Nettles, taking turns with lines of lyrics. Schlapman admits that hashing out who was going to sing what could have been a taxing experience. But it wasn't.

"We were just so happy to work with each other," Schlapman said. "I think the fact that Jennifer and Kristian came back together for this and for the tour was like a huge gust of fresh, clean, beautiful air. We made magic in the studio, and it was just super easy. We were like, 'You sing that, and I'll sing this, and you sing that, and I'll sing this, and hey, I want to try that. And hey, you try that.' And it came together, and we made a song of it."

Little Big Town and Sugarland will launch their tour in October in Greenville, SC, and wrap it up in time for Christmas in December at Nashville's Bridgestone Arena.

Fuerza Régida Want You to See Them on Tour — But Don’t Fall in Love

On Tuesday, Fuerza Régida announced that they’ll be playing arenas across the United States on their 37-date “Pero No Te Enamores” Tour (“But Don’t Fall in Love” in English) this summer.

The Jesús Ortiz Paz -fronted group will kick off their run of shows in Austin on June 6, before making their way to cities such as Phoenix, San Jose, Salt Lake City, and Denver through September. They’ll pick things back up in October in Mexico and close out the tour on Nov. 16 at Los Angeles’ Intuit Dome.

Tickets go on sale on April 12 at 10 a.m. local time. Fans will also be able to purchase VIP tickets, which include afterparty access, soundcheck access, and meet and greets with the band.

For the group’s 25th anniversary, Little Big Town is pouring some sugar on it. Some Sugarland , actually, as the two country groups will be spending some quality time together later this year, in the wake of their joint performance Sunday night on the CMT Music Awards , where they hooked up to sing their newly arranged cover of Phil Collins ‘ 1985 smash “Take Me Home.”

The tour is produced by Live Nation and Sandbox Entertainment, and is billed as Little Big Town with special guest Sugarland, and support from the Castellows. Pre-sales for the Take Me Home Tour will take place throughout this week on the way to a general on-sale Friday at 10 a.m.

There’s a throwback element to the new single and tour, as well as Sunday’s CMTs appearance: The two groups toured together in the late 2000s, and they sang a cover of the Dream Academy’s “Life in a Northern Town” (then joined by Jake Owen as well) on the 2008 show that at the time went under the name of the CMT Flameworthy Awards.

Backstage at Austin’s Moody Center during CMT Awards rehearsals, the four members of Little Big Town sat down to discuss with Variety their feelings about reuniting with their old vocal-harmony pals.

The tour plan preceded choosing which song to do together, says Karen Fairchild. “When we were on the road together years ago, we would really learn songs in the afternoon and then sing ’em,” she recalls. “Like, if we were in Memphis, we’d do ‘Walking in Memphis.’ So it was just something fun that we did on the road. So when this tour was gonna be announced and we were gonna get to do a song, then it was like, what do we do? And this song was Kristian Bush’s (of Sugarland) idea. and then we decided that we should get in the studio, because it sounded so good, and make it our own.”

There’s a more personal, if slightly indirect, connection as well. “We should tell you: Akil Thompson that plays in the band — he’s on keys, but he plays everything — his dad is Chester Thompson. Well, Chester, created the drum part on this. There are so many followers of drummers of just his part on that, on YouTube. So that’s why there’s so many drums out there on the CMTs stage — because Hubert (Payne, the group’s drummer) is channeling his inner Chester Thompson… with Akil sitting next to him. Akil showed us a picture of himself standing side-stage at a Phil Collins concert, watching his dad play on this song, so it’s kind of a full-circle moment for him.”

There is plenty of full circling happening now with the Little Big Town/Sugarland reconnection, which couldn’t have happened that many times in other recent years, since the latter duo’s Jennifer Nettles and Bush have been pursuing solo activities more than band work for the most part.

Says Fairchild, “We used to hang out with them because we went to see them open up for Brooks and Dunn, and we played cards one night, and then we just became fast friends.” Although LBT has been in existence as a unit slightly longer, Sugarland broke big in country first, so she tells a story of Nettles and Bush being helpful as they struggled.

“We ran into them again at a festival, back in the day when we were broke and we didn’t have any gear. The guys were locked down on wired packs and we really wanted to invest in some wireless packs — ad this seems really silly now, but back then that was an important thing; we didn’t have any freedom to move around the stage. Sugarland had just had their first big No. 1 or something. And they bought us wireless packs — gave ’em to us and said, ‘Just pay the kindness forward.'”

Says Westbook, “They were so sweet, and I know they felt like they were investing in in our future and helping us out, because they know what that means.”

“And then they bought us wardrobe cases!” adds Fairchild. “And then we gifted those wardrobe cases to Old Dominion, but they kept our names on there, so the guys had Kimberly, Karen, Phillip and Jimi on their wardrobe cases. They just gave those cases away — I don’t know who they gave the old ones to — but we’re trying to just keep the tradition going.”

As for their collaborating now… four-part harmony is hard enough. Isn’t six-part harmony going to be tougher?

They laugh. There isn’t quite so much of that, in actuality, as usually someone is singing a lead vocal that doesn’t have to fit in with the background parts. “The great thing about that is, there’s so many like ad libs in this song,” Schlapman says. “The rest of us keep the harmonies going while the ad libs also go along, so that’s where the six voices come in really handy.” But, as CMT Awards viewers say, all six members of the two groups got in at least a little lead-vocal time as the song went on.

The concluding night of the tour at Nashville’s big arena will mark the first time Little Big Town has headlined in Music City since a multi-night residency at the Ryman in 2017.

“With COVID, we didn’t plan on staying away that long,” says Fairchild. “But touring in the last few years, we did play there with George Strait, but yeah, we have not headlined anything until this Bridgestone show coming up. And that’s gonna be the last night of the tour. So it’s gonna be a party.” Chimes in Schlapman: “Katy-bar the door.”

After the CMTs, Fairchild was trying to figure out how to stick around Austin long enough to get in some vintage clothes-shopping, as is her habit when visiting the city. “This is one of my favorite places to shop, and I’m trying to figure out how I’m going to do that because they have us pretty busy. The vintage shopping here is phenomenal. I could stay and watch the eclipse, I guess, and shop.”

It’s suggested that she could shop in the dark, during the blackout. “She brought a headlamp,” quips Westbrook.

“Spelunking?” says Fairchild. “No, shopping.”
