Your doctor will customise your travel vaccinations to suit the region you are visiting, the activities you plan to undertake, the duration of your trip, and your medical history. When you schedule your initial appointment, please let us know the country you are traveling to and the length of your stay, so that your doctor can prepare recommendations for travel health and vaccinations when you attend your appointment.

Travel Clinic (Yellow Fever & Others)

Travel vaccines.

Travelling can be a great way to relax and explore new places.

It’s important to see a travel doctor at least 6-8 weeks before you go to make sure you’re ready for your journey and to receive advice on staying healthy and any vaccines you might need for your destination.

Our centre is a reputable travel clinic accredited by NSW Health, offering a comprehensive array of essential vaccines conveniently available on-site. We take pride in being your one-stop destination for all your travel medicine needs. We are also an International Clinic for Yellow Fever vaccination, recognised by the World Health Organization (WHO). Our experienced doctors can efficiently issue your Yellow Fever vaccination certificate, ensuring your compliance with international travel requirements.

Please note, individual requirements may vary, but the standard adult schedules for typical vaccination are provided below.

Please note that travel vaccine costs are not covered by Medicare.

Yellow Fever Virus

Yellow fever is a serious viral disease that spreads through mosquito bites. Although some people recover after experiencing initial symptoms, there is a risk of a second phase of illness that can lead to jaundice, internal bleeding, and even death. The mortality rate for Yellow fever is up to 50%.

Unfortunately, there is no cure for this disease. To protect yourself from the risk of Yellow fever, it is crucial to receive a vaccination before travelling to at-risk areas. This is particularly important for travellers who are 9 months or older. If you plan to travel abroad, it is essential to check the vaccination requirements of the countries you plan to visit and speak to your doctor.

Countries with Yellow Fever

  • Burkina Faso
  • Central African
  • Cote d’Ivoire (Ivory Coast)
  • Equatorial Guinea
  • Guinea (also Guinea Bissau)
  • Sierra Leone
  • South Sudan

South America & Central America

  • Argentina – Misiones Province

Cholera vaccine

Cholera vaccine is recommended for people travelling to areas where there is currently an outbreak of cholera.

In areas where cholera is endemic, but there is not a current outbreak, the recommendation is for careful hygiene and care with ingestion of water and fresh fruit and vegetables.  The vaccine used to protect against cholera is also useful for travellers diarrhea (E.coli infection), and so is frequently prescribed as a preventative for this.

The guidelines for administering yellow fever vaccine were updated in the last 12 months. There is now a more stringent protocol requiring online training for practitioners and a consent process at the time the vaccine is administered. These requirements have been met by the doctors at our practice.

We do not have vaccines for prophylaxis for a number of serious insect borne diseases and it is therefore important to use protection against insect bites, and to avoid the times of day when mosquitoes in particular are more likely to be active. For prevention of malaria, we also recommend prophylactic antibiotics to be taken before and during travel to malarious areas.

Cases of measles are on the rise worldwide. Travelers are at risk of measles if they have not been fully vaccinated at least two weeks prior to departure, or have not had measles in the past, and travel internationally to areas where measles is spreading.

All international travelers should be fully vaccinated against measles with the measles-mumps-rubella (MMR) vaccine, including an early dose for infants 6–11 months, according to  CDC’s measles vaccination recommendations for international travel .

Measles (Rubeola) - CDC Yellow Book

Australia is free of dog rabies. However, rabies may still be present in wildlife species, particularly bats. CDC recommends rabies vaccination before travel only for people working directly with wildlife. These people may include veterinarians, animal handlers, field biologists, or laboratory workers working with specimens from mammalian species.

Rabies - CDC Yellow Book

Learn actions you can take to stay healthy and safe on your trip. Vaccines cannot protect you from many diseases in Australia, so your behaviors are important.

Eat and drink safely

Food and water standards around the world vary based on the destination. Standards may also differ within a country and risk may change depending on activity type (e.g., hiking versus business trip). You can learn more about safe food and drink choices when traveling by accessing the resources below.

  • Choose Safe Food and Drinks When Traveling
  • Water Treatment Options When Hiking, Camping or Traveling
  • Global Water, Sanitation and Hygiene | Healthy Water
  • Avoid Contaminated Water During Travel

You can also visit the  Department of State Country Information Pages  for additional information about food and water safety.

Prevent bug bites

Although Australia is an industrialized country, bug bites here can still spread diseases. Just as you would in the United States, try to avoid bug bites while spending time outside or in wooded areas.

What can I do to prevent bug bites?

  • Cover exposed skin by wearing long-sleeved shirts, long pants, and hats.
  • Use an appropriate insect repellent (see below).
  • Consider using permethrin-treated clothing and gear if spending a lot of time outside. Do not use permethrin directly on skin.

What type of insect repellent should I use?

  • FOR PROTECTION AGAINST TICKS AND MOSQUITOES: Use a repellent that contains 20% or more DEET for protection that lasts up to several hours.
  • Picaridin (also known as KBR 3023, Bayrepel, and icaridin)
  • Oil of lemon eucalyptus (OLE) or para-menthane-diol (PMD)
  • 2-undecanone
  • Always use insect repellent as directed.

What should I do if I am bitten by bugs?

  • Avoid scratching bug bites, and apply hydrocortisone cream or calamine lotion to reduce the itching.
  • Check your entire body for ticks after outdoor activity. Be sure to remove ticks properly.

What can I do to avoid bed bugs?

Although bed bugs do not carry disease, they are an annoyance. See our information page about avoiding bug bites for some easy tips to avoid them. For more information on bed bugs, see Bed Bugs .

For more detailed information on avoiding bug bites, see Avoid Bug Bites .

Stay safe outdoors

If your travel plans in Australia include outdoor activities, take these steps to stay safe and healthy during your trip:

  • Stay alert to changing weather conditions and adjust your plans if conditions become unsafe.
  • Prepare for activities by wearing the right clothes and packing protective items, such as bug spray, sunscreen, and a basic first aid kit.
  • Consider learning basic first aid and CPR before travel. Bring a travel health kit with items appropriate for your activities.
  • If you are outside for many hours in the heat, eat salty snacks and drink water to stay hydrated and replace salt lost through sweating.
  • Protect yourself from UV radiation : use sunscreen with an SPF of at least 15, wear protective clothing, and seek shade during the hottest time of day (10 a.m.–4 p.m.).
  • Be especially careful during summer months and at high elevation. Because sunlight reflects off snow, sand, and water, sun exposure may be increased during activities like skiing, swimming, and sailing.
  • Very cold temperatures can be dangerous. Dress in layers and cover heads, hands, and feet properly if you are visiting a cold location.

Stay safe around water

  • Swim only in designated swimming areas. Obey lifeguards and warning flags on beaches.
  • Do not dive into shallow water.
  • Avoid swallowing water when swimming. Untreated water can carry germs that make you sick.
  • Practice safe boating—follow all boating safety laws, do not drink alcohol if you are driving a boat, and always wear a life jacket.

Keep away from animals

Most animals avoid people, but they may attack if they feel threatened, are protecting their young or territory, or if they are injured or ill. Animal bites and scratches can lead to serious diseases such as rabies.

Follow these tips to protect yourself:

  • Do not touch or feed any animals you do not know.
  • Do not allow animals to lick open wounds, and do not get animal saliva in your eyes or mouth.
  • Avoid rodents and their urine and feces.
  • Traveling pets should be supervised closely and not allowed to come in contact with local animals.
  • If you wake in a room with a bat, seek medical care immediately.  Bat bites may be hard to see.

All animals can pose a threat, but be extra careful around dogs, bats, monkeys, sea animals such as jellyfish, and snakes. If you are bitten or scratched by an animal, immediately:

  • Wash the wound with soap and clean water.
  • Go to a doctor right away.
  • Tell your doctor about your injury when you get back to the United States.

Reduce your exposure to germs

Follow these tips to avoid getting sick or spreading illness to others while traveling:

  • Wash your hands often, especially before eating.
  • If soap and water aren’t available, clean hands with hand sanitizer (containing at least 60% alcohol).
  • Don’t touch your eyes, nose, or mouth. If you need to touch your face, make sure your hands are clean.
  • Cover your mouth and nose with a tissue or your sleeve (not your hands) when coughing or sneezing.
  • Try to avoid contact with people who are sick.
  • If you are sick, stay home or in your hotel room, unless you need medical care.

Avoid sharing body fluids

Diseases can be spread through body fluids, such as saliva, blood, vomit, and semen.

Protect yourself:

  • Use latex condoms correctly.
  • Do not inject drugs.
  • Limit alcohol consumption. People take more risks when intoxicated.
  • Do not share needles or any devices that can break the skin. That includes needles for tattoos, piercings, and acupuncture.
  • If you receive medical or dental care, make sure the equipment is disinfected or sanitized.

Know how to get medical care while traveling

Plan for how you will get health care during your trip, should the need arise:

  • Carry a list of local doctors and hospitals at your destination.
  • Review your health insurance plan to determine what medical services it would cover during your trip. Consider purchasing travel health and medical evacuation insurance for things your regular insurance will not cover.
  • Carry a card that identifies, in the local language, your blood type, chronic conditions or serious allergies, and the generic names of any medicines you take.
  • Bring copies of your prescriptions for medicine and for eye glasses and contact lenses.
  • Some prescription drugs may be illegal in other countries. Call Australia’s embassy to verify that all of your prescription(s) are legal to bring with you.
  • Bring all the medicines (including over-the-counter medicines) you think you might need during your trip, including extra in case of travel delays. Ask your doctor to help you get prescriptions filled early if you need to.

Many foreign hospitals and clinics are accredited by the Joint Commission International. A list of accredited facilities is available at their website ( www.jointcommissioninternational.org ).

Select safe transportation

Motor vehicle crashes are the #1 killer of healthy US citizens in foreign countries.

Be smart when you are traveling on foot.

  • Use sidewalks and marked crosswalks.
  • Pay attention to the traffic around you, especially in crowded areas.
  • Remember, people on foot do not always have the right of way in other countries.

Riding/Driving

Choose a safe vehicle.

  • Choose official taxis or public transportation, such as trains and buses.
  • Make sure there are seatbelts.
  • Avoid overcrowded, overloaded, top-heavy buses and minivans.
  • Avoid riding on motorcycles or motorbikes, especially motorbike taxis. (Many crashes are caused by inexperienced motorbike drivers.)
  • Choose newer vehicles—they may have more safety features, such as airbags, and be more reliable.
  • Choose larger vehicles, which may provide more protection in crashes.

Think about the driver.

  • Do not drive after drinking alcohol or ride with someone who has been drinking.
  • Consider hiring a licensed, trained driver familiar with the area.
  • Arrange payment before departing.

Follow basic safety tips.

  • Wear a seatbelt at all times.
  • Sit in the back seat of cars and taxis.
  • When on motorbikes or bicycles, always wear a helmet. (Bring a helmet from home, if needed.)
  • Do not use a cell phone or text while driving (illegal in many countries).
  • Travel during daylight hours only, especially in rural areas.
  • If you choose to drive a vehicle in Australia, learn the local traffic laws and have the proper paperwork.
  • Get any driving permits and insurance you may need. Get an International Driving Permit (IDP). Carry the IDP and a US-issued driver's license at all times.
  • Check with your auto insurance policy's international coverage, and get more coverage if needed. Make sure you have liability insurance.
  • Avoid using local, unscheduled aircraft.
  • If possible, fly on larger planes (more than 30 seats); larger airplanes are more likely to have regular safety inspections.
  • Try to schedule flights during daylight hours and in good weather.

Traffic flows on the left side of the road in Australia.

  • Always pay close attention to the flow of traffic, especially when crossing the street.
  • LOOK RIGHT for approaching traffic.

Maintain personal security

Use the same common sense traveling overseas that you would at home, and always stay alert and aware of your surroundings.

Before you leave

  • Research your destination(s), including local laws, customs, and culture.
  • Monitor travel advisories and alerts and read travel tips from the US Department of State.
  • Enroll in the Smart Traveler Enrollment Program (STEP) .
  • Leave a copy of your itinerary, contact information, credit cards, and passport with someone at home.
  • Pack as light as possible, and leave at home any item you could not replace.

While at your destination(s)

  • Carry contact information for the nearest US embassy or consulate .
  • Carry a photocopy of your passport and entry stamp; leave the actual passport securely in your hotel.
  • Follow all local laws and social customs.
  • Do not wear expensive clothing or jewelry.
  • Always keep hotel doors locked, and store valuables in secure areas.
  • If possible, choose hotel rooms between the 2nd and 6th floors.

Healthy Travel Packing List

Use the Healthy Travel Packing List for Australia for a list of health-related items to consider packing for your trip. Talk to your doctor about which items are most important for you.

Why does CDC recommend packing these health-related items?

It’s best to be prepared to prevent and treat common illnesses and injuries. Some supplies and medicines may be difficult to find at your destination, may have different names, or may have different ingredients than what you normally use.

If you are not feeling well after your trip, you may need to see a doctor. If you need help finding a travel medicine specialist, see Find a Clinic . Be sure to tell your doctor about your travel, including where you went and what you did on your trip. Also tell your doctor if you were bitten or scratched by an animal while traveling.

For more information on what to do if you are sick after your trip, see Getting Sick after Travel .

PRICEBEAT TRAVEL REVIEWS

Our experience with Best price Travel is very good, especially with one consultant Daniel. Suggested to our friends, they also happy the services. I have travelled many countries and tickets were booked by different agents. Past few years, I prefer to consult with Daniel, who is friendly, quick response, Price and Flight suggestions and polite communication. Our recent experience on one Airlines cancelled all flights, I was running post to pillars for refund, but when I contacted Daniel and he did fantastic job connected us and it's in way of getting the refund. We our family & friends Appreciate Daniel and Bestprice Travels, Australia.
Daniel from Bestprice Travel has been an exceptional support for our travel needs over the past few years. His expertise in efficiently managing our bookings has made our travel experiences not only hassle-free but also cost-effective. His dedication to providing excellent customer service is commendable. For our recent Europe tour and upcoming Colombo travel, he managed our bookings to meet our requirements efficiently. He has been incredibly responsive, and Daniel's professionalism and commitment to customer service are excellent. I wholeheartedly recommend his services to anyone seeking efficient and top-notch travel support.
I recently booked a flight and found myself in a situation where I needed to change the date at the last minute. I called the Bestprice Travel team from the airport and they were incredibly helpful. Every travel consultant I spoke to displayed remarkable patience. Despite my initial panic and raised voice, they handled the situation with great care and successfully managed to adjust my flight. I am deeply grateful to the entire team at Bestprice Travel for their exceptional service. You all are truly awesome!

HAPPY TRAVELS REVIEWS

Josephine helped me and my friend book the rest of our entire journey in Australia! She booked everything we wanted to do, places to stay and the journey to get there, as well as getting us the best deals by trying to get everything as cheap as possible suiting our budget. We had spent so much time trying to sort everything out ourselves the last few days but it’s been super hard because of the summer break. She was an incredible help and super sweet! The rest of the crew was also extremely nice and helpful. I would recommend anyone getting help from this company!
Thank you to Matty for helping me out the other day. Was very helpful and knowledgeable for my trip to the Great Barrier Reef. He made sure that I got the best deals and personally called the places that I wanted to get. I’ve already been back to him to book a rental car for a few days. Can’t thank him enough for his service and would 100% recommend booking through happy travels.

How much does travel insurance cost?

The cost of your policy is called a 'premium'. You will be advised of the premium that is payable for your policy when you apply. This will also be shown on your Certificate of Insurance. The premium amount will depend on a number of factors and is calculated based on:

  • your risk profile - we work this out using a number of factors such as your travel destination(s), the length of your journey, the amount and type of cover you require, the number of people insured under the policy and their ages, the time between the date you purchase your policy and the start date of your journey, the pre-existing medical condition(s) of the people insured under the policy and the likelihood of a claim being made on your policy.
  • any discounts that may apply
  • any government charges we pay, such as Stamp Duty and GST
  • any other charges we tell you about
  • the excess you choose

It’s a good idea to compare travel insurance quotes to ensure you are getting coverage that suits your needs.

How long does travel insurance last?

That’s up to you. When buying a policy for a single trip you’ll be asked the start and end date of your journey.

You can also purchase annual travel insurance known as a Multi-Trip policy. This is designed to cover multiple journeys during a 12 month period, up to your nominated maximum journey period of 15, 30 or 45 days.

Read more about  Multi-Trip Insurance .

What are travel insurance exclusions?

Travel insurance exclusions are circumstances, activities, items or equipment that an insurer will not provide cover for. That means you are responsible for any costs incurred due to an excluded incident or related to an excluded item.

Exclusions are listed in the  Product Disclosure Statement of a travel insurance policy.

What is travel insurance excess?

Travel insurance excess is the amount which will be deducted from any claim paid to you under the sections of your policy to which an excess applies. Some policies allow for a base excess to be increased (which lowers the premium you have to pay) or decreased (which increases your upfront premium).

You will be advised which options are available to you at the time you purchase your policy. In some circumstances Worldcare may impose a medical excess for claims arising from certain medical conditions.

We will inform you in writing if any additional excess applies.

Snow and adventure packs have an excess of $500 per pack in addition to your chosen base excess, which can't be changed or removed.  This excess relates to Overseas Medical & Hospital Expenses or Cancellation claims arising from your participation in snow sport or adventure activities.

There may also be other benefits that have an excess that applies.

Please refer to the  Product Disclosure Statement  for full details.

What are Pre-Existing Medical Conditions?

A pre-existing medical condition is a condition, including a dental condition or mental illness, of which you were, or a reasonable person in your circumstances should have been, aware of at the time of issue of the Certificate of Insurance, and including certain conditions up to two years prior (see the  Product Disclosure Statement for full details).

Worldcare Travel Insurance includes some pre-existing medical conditions that we cover at no extra cost, subject to acceptance under the below assessment process.

In order to get cover for your pre-existing medical conditions (including those which we cover without additional charge), when getting a quote, if you click ‘Yes’ to ‘Pre-existing medical condition?’ our online medical assessment tool will guide you through the assessment process. You should also check the definition of pre-existing medical condition in the  Product Disclosure Statement  to see if you have a pre-existing medical condition. If you are still unsure, please  contact us .

If you have already purchased your travel insurance policy, then any new medical condition that arises after that date is not considered a pre-existing medical condition and you would not need to pay an additional premium, subject to the terms, conditions, exclusions limits and applicable sub-limits listed in the  Product Disclosure Statement .

What happens if I experience an emergency whilst overseas?

Call emergency services immediately if your condition is life threatening.

For emergency assistance, Allianz Global Assistance is only a telephone call away. Allianz Global Assistance is available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.

If you are in Australia, simply dial 1800 010 075

For all other countries, dial +61 7 3305 7499.

Additional charges may apply for any calls made from mobiles, public telephones or hotel rooms.

Please note that Allianz Global Assistance will not pay for any hospital or medical costs incurred in Australia.

Allianz Global Assistance is a supplier of travel insurance and medical assistance. The Allianz Global Assistance Australian headquarters is located in Brisbane City, Queensland.

The purpose-built Global Response Centre is an environment that operates 24 hours, 365 days a year, and is supported by sophisticated telecommunications and information technology systems.

What if I need to make a claim on my travel insurance policy?

You can submit a claim upon your return to Australia or while still on your trip. You can lodge a claim online 24 hours a day at  www.travelclaims.com.au .

If you have received medical treatment as an outpatient while overseas and the costs are less than $2,000, you would normally pay for the treatment, obtain a medical report from the treating doctor and keep all medical receipts and associated expenses to lodge your claim on your return home.

At any time, you can call the 24/7 Worldcare team for advice regarding this process.

If the treatment is likely to exceed $2,000, then you should contact us as soon as possible. Our team will support you through the process of lodging your claim while you are travelling.

The team will be able to speak with the medical facility to explain the requirements of the claim process in order to confirm cover. We may be able to authorise payment directly to the facility for you.

What if I need to cancel my policy or obtain a refund?

Please call us on  1800 440 806  (Monday to Friday, 8am-7pm; Saturday, 8am-5pm AEST) or email us at  [email protected]

If you cancel within 14 days of your Certificate of Insurance being issued, provided you have not started your journey and have not made a claim or do not intend to make a claim you will be refunded the full premium paid.

If you wish to cancel your policy more than 14 days after your Certificate of Insurance is issued, provided you have not started your journey and have not made a claim or do not intend to make a claim we will calculate a partial refund of the premium you paid.

Refer to the cooling-off period section of the  Product Disclosure Statement

Can I get a refund on my travel insurance premium if my travel plans have changed due to COVID-19?

If a COVID-19 border closure or mandatory quarantine period prevents you from travelling, or requires you to shorten your journey while travelling, you may be entitled to receive a partial or full premium refund.  Please refer to the  Product Disclosure Statement for more details.

Please note, eligibility criteria applies.

If you have any questions please call us on  1800 440 806  (Monday to Friday, 8am-7pm; Saturday, 8am-5pm AEST) or email us at  [email protected]

Am I covered if I or my travel companion contract COVID-19 or need to cancel, reschedule or shorten my trip due to COVID-19?

Worldcare Travel Insurance offers cover under selected benefits if, during your period of cover, you or your travel companion are positively diagnosed as suffering a sickness recognised as an epidemic or pandemic, such as COVID-19, and you have not travelled against the advice of an Australian government. Refer to the Product Disclosure Statement to see which benefits offer cover in the event that you contract a sickness recognised as an epidemic or pandemic, and the terms, conditions, limits and exclusions that apply.

PLEASE NOTE: there is no cover under any benefit of this policy if your claim arises because you did not follow advice or a warning that has been issued by an Australian government or a reliable mass media source.

You can always make a claim for consideration.  All claims for cancelling, shortening or rescheduling due to an epidemic or pandemic, such as COVID-19, will be assessed in accordance with the facts and circumstances of your claim and the terms, conditions, limits and exclusions of your policy.

If there is a travel alert, warning or ban in place, will I be covered if I decide to travel?

There is no cover under any benefit of this policy if your claim arises because you did not follow an advice or warning that a reasonable person would have been aware of:

  • by the Australian government (when a reconsider your need to travel or do not travel alert is in place), which can be found on Smartraveller ; or
  • which was published in a reliable mass media source.

Before purchasing travel insurance, and while you’re travelling, check Smartraveller and Allianz Partners for travel alerts or advisories for your intended destination(s).  Please note, this also applies even if the Australian government has given you permission to travel, or you fall under a specific exemption where there is otherwise a travel ban in place.

Tip! Subscribe to Smartraveller to receive travel alerts and advisory updates via email.

Refer to the General Exclusions in our  Product Disclosure Statement for a full list of exclusions.

California Governor Newsom launches abortion travel ban ad campaign in Alabama

By Dave Pehling

Updated on: April 22, 2024 / 1:41 PM PDT / CBS San Francisco

California Governor Gavin Newsom is taking aim at states considering abortion travel bans with the launch of a new ad campaign.

Newsom's Campaign for Democracy ad is set to air in Alabama starting Monday. The governor tweeted out the ad in a social media post Sunday morning.

Alabama’s abortion ban has no exceptions for rape or incest. Now, Republicans are trying to criminalize young women’s travel to receive abortion care. We cannot let them get away with this. pic.twitter.com/gHbYJYlEXk — Gavin Newsom (@GavinNewsom) April 21, 2024

The text with the video post reads, "Alabama's abortion ban has no exceptions for rape or incest. Now, Republicans are trying to criminalize young women's travel to receive abortion care. We cannot let them get away with this."

The 30-second commercial shows two nervous young women driving in a car passing a sign that reads "State Line 1 Mile."

"We're almost there. You're gonna make it," the passenger tells the woman behind the wheel just before they hear a siren and are pulled over by a state trooper.

"Trump Republicans want to criminalize young Alabama women who travel for reproductive care," a voiceover says as the state trooper walks up to the car.

"Miss, I'm going to need you to step out of the vehicle and take a pregnancy test," the trooper says, waving a test stick in one hand. The next shot shows the driver leaning on the hood of her car as the trooper puts her in handcuffs.

"Stop them by taking action at RightToTravel.org ," the voiceover intones as the ad ends.

Alabama is currently weighing a bill that would make it a crime to help women travel outside the state in order to receive an abortion. The ad is part of a larger effort to combat travel bans across the United States. Newsom was behind a similar ad that ran in Tennessee.

The RightToTravel.org website says that those two states and Oklahoma are considering bills that ban minors from traveling out of state to get an abortion without parental consent, even if it's a case of incest or if there is abuse in the family.

It isn't the first action the governor has taken in the political battle over abortion since the U.S. Supreme Court overturned Roe v. Wade in June of 2022. Two days after the ruling, Newsom partnered with the governors of Oregon and Washington to issue a multi-state commitment promising to defend access to reproductive health care, including abortion and contraceptives.

In September of that year, he launched a billboard campaign in seven of the most restrictive anti-abortion states urging women seeking the procedure to come to California for treatment. He also signed more than a dozen new abortion laws  protecting women's reproductive rights and ordered the state to end its contract with Walgreens after the pharmacy giant  indicated it would not sell an abortion pill by mail in some conservative-led states .
