Travis Scott has revealed the dates and venues for his North American trek in support of his latest chart-topping album “ Utopia .”

Dubbed the “ Circus Maximus ” tour, Scott will play his first show in Charlotte on Oct. 11 and will continue through North America, ending with a Dec. 29 stop in Toronto. The tour will also include Scott’s largest headline show to date in Los Angeles’ SoFi Stadium.

This will be his first official tour since the “Astroworld: Wish You Were Here Tour” in 2018. See the complete lineup of dates below.

Popular on Variety

Scott previously announced his intention to bring “Circus Maximus” to the U.S. and Europe but had not confirmed any dates until today.

“ Utopia tour soon U.S. and Euro dates soon to be announce [sic] I miss the road and I miss y’all,” he wrote in the caption.

“Utopia” debuted on the Billboard 200 this week with towering streaming numbers that easily launched the star-laden set to No. 1. The set is his first since 2018’s “Astroworld,” and this tour will be his first since the Astroworld Festival tragedy left 10 people dead and more than 100 others injured in a crowd crush in November 2021.

He was expected to have an album release party in Egypt, though that was abruptly canceled and moved to a new venue in Rome where he performed “Utopia” for the first time. According to Live Nation, that event sold out 60,000 tickets in just two days.

During the Circus Maximus show, Scott brought out Kanye West for a performance of West’s “Can’t Tell Me Nothing” and “Praise God.” He also paid tribute to West by saying, “There is no Utopia without Kanye West. There is no Travis Scott without Kanye West. There is no Rome without Kanye West.”

Travis Scott Officially Announces 2023 Utopia - Circus Maximus Tour

By Nina Corcoran

Travis Scott

Travis Scott has announced a 2023 North American tour. Dubbed the Utopia - Circus Maximus Tour, the trek will take place this fall, beginning in Charlotte, North Carolina, on October 11 and ending on December 29 in Toronto, Ontario. These dates vary from the ones Live Nation leaked earlier this month before deleting its social media post and ticket pages for the tour. Tickets go on sale tomorrow at 10 a.m. local time. Find the complete list of tour dates below.

Scott had initially planned a concert in Houston, but that date does not appear in the itinerary. A spokesperson for the city’s mayor told Rolling Stone that “at one point” the show had been planned and the mayor’s office communicated with Toyota Center to coordinate a safety plan. The fate of that show is unclear.

A spokesperson for the mayor told Rolling Stone Tuesday that “at one point” both the Toyota Center and Live Nation had notified the City of Houston that Scott planned to perform in the city. “Our public safety leaders and special events subject matter experts decided to communicate with the Toyota Center and coordinate on a safety plan,” the spokesperson said. Sylvester Turner originally said earlier this month that Scott had “booked the Toyota Center for a concert in October.”

At the start of August, Scott performed at Rome’s Circus Maximus , doing several Utopia songs and hosting a surprise appearance from Kanye West. His show caused the ground to shake so much that locals feared there was an earthquake , causing calls for a concert ban at the historic venue in the future.

The Utopia - Circus Maximus Tour will be the rapper’s first headlining tour since the 2021 Astroworld Festival tragedy , which resulted in 10 deaths and countless injuries. In late July, the Houston Police Department shared an extensive report on the event, in which Scott recalled being told through his earpiece, “You got to wrap it up, it’s getting kinda hectic out there.” He claimed that he was not made aware of the gravity of the situation until later.

Prior to the police report, a Harris County grand jury determined that Scott will not be criminally charged for the event’s happenings. Both Scott and Live Nation still face several civil lawsuits relating to Astroworld, although a few have already been settled .

The 28-date rager will begin at Charlotte’s Spectrum Center on Oct. 11, 2023. From there, the “MELTDOWN” artist will hit Chicago, Miami, New York, and other major markets before ending the show at Toronto’s Scotiabank Arena on Dec. 29, 2023.

H-Town Mayor Sylvester Turner recently announced that Travis would play the Texas city as a part of his tour. However, Scott’s tour announcement doesn’t include his hometown.

According to   ABC13 ,  Turner stated that Scott “booked the Toyota Center for a concert in October.” Douglas Griffith, Houston Police Department Union president, clarified that the “Sicko Mode” entertainer could potentially hit Toyota Center on Oct. 19, 2023, or Nov. 20, 2023.

“Before (Tuesday’s) announcement, Toyota Center representatives convened meetings with public safety officials and the city’s special events office. They will continue working together to ensure this concert’s safety , not unlike the thousands of concerts held at Toyota Center each year,” the official statement read. If Travis is given the green light, his Houston Circus Maximus date will mark his first time performing in his city since the deadly Astroworld Festival .

The 32-year-old rapper is now scheduled to headline at Brooklyn’s Barclays Center on Dec. 18, New York City’s Madison Square Garden on Dec. 21 and Newark, NJ’s Prudential Center on Dec. 26.

Travis Scott is expected to announce his 'Utopia Tour' soon: Will it come to OKC?

travis scott tour utopia dates

Grammy-nominated rapper Travis Scott is expected to announce his "Utopia Tour" soon.

On Tuesday, a set of North American tour dates, including an Oklahoma City show, was announced for Scott's "Utopia World Tour" in support of his new chart-topping album of the same name .

A source close to Scott confirmed Wednesday to The Oklahoman that the tour routing initially announced is not final and that the hitmaker will unveil his "Utopia Tour" plans soon.

Scott also posted on Instagram that U.S. and European dates for the tour will be announced soon.

This story will be updated as more information becomes available.

Rapper is expected to tour in support of new star-studded album

Scott is expected to tour in support of his new album "Utopia," released July 28 via Epic Records and his own Cactus Jack label.

The album debuted atop the cross-genre Billboard 200 chart, scoring the third-biggest week of 2023 for any album and the biggest of the year for any R&B, hip-hop or rap release, according to the trade publication.

"Utopia" sold 500,000 album units in its first week and earned more than 650 million streams globally. Apple Music reported it garnered the biggest first-day streams of an album in 2023, and Spotify named it the most streamed record in 2023 on its first day with 128 million streams, according to a news release.

The album features guest appearances by Beyoncé, Drake, Dave Chappelle, 21 Savage, Bad Bunny, Bon Iver, Future, Lil Uzi Vert, Playboi Carti, SZA, The Weeknd, Young Thug and more. Controversial rapper Kanye "Ye" West was a writer and producer on "Utopia."

On Monday, Scott performed a concert at the legendary Circus Maximus in Rome, Italy, which sold out 60,000 tickets in just two days. West joined Scott on stage at the Rome concert, Pitchfork reports.

" Utopia" is Scott’s third No. 1 and first solo album since his 2018 chart-topper "Astroworld." It's also the rapper's first album since the 2021 Astroworld concert in his native Houston, Texas, that left 10 concertgoers dead and hundreds injured .

Travis Scott announced his tour for the new album Utopia on Wednesday morning, including a stop at Philadelphia’s Wells Fargo Center on Dec. 10.

The tour, called “Utopia Presents Circus Maximus,” is Scott’s first headlining tour since the 2021 Astroworld Festival in Houston, where a crowd surge led to 10 deaths and multiple injuries. Most recently, he performed the album in Rome with Kanye West as a surprise guest.

Earlier this month, the Wells Fargo Center distributed a press release for the tour with a Philadelphia date in October and later said the announcement was released “prematurely.” Multiple outlets published the initial dates. The tour previously planned to stop at MetLife Stadium in East Rutherford, N.J. in September as well. Instead, Scott will perform at the Prudential Center in Newark, N.J. on Dec. 26.

The Inquirer had learned that Scott was scheduled to perform on Oct. 4th at Wells Fargo, but that date has now been changed.

The tour will kick off in Charlotte, N.C. on Oct. 11, about two weeks after the previously announced start date. Scott will conclude on Dec. 29 in Toronto.

This story has been updated with new information.

Travis Scott - Utopia

Travis Scott – ‘Utopia’ review: lofty concept, shaky execution

The Houston rapper's first album since 2018 teases a brave new sonic world, but has little to say about what might happen if we get there

Few artists dream on the same scale as Travis Scott . Once a prodigy under the tutelage of Kanye West , the Houston rapper became the ringleader for a wave of screwed and psychedelic hip-hop primed for buck-wild live shows. His last album, 2018’s ‘Astroworld’ , was a blockbuster amusement park that broke free of West’s influence and made Scott one of the most marketable figures in hip-hop. He rode its success with chart-topping singles – including 2019’s ‘Highest In The Room’ – collaborations with Nike, PlayStation, McDonald’s and Fortnite . In 2021, a fatal crowd crush at his Astroworld festival led to 10 deaths and countless injuries and lawsuits . Last month, a grand jury decided he would not be indicted , and the rollout for ‘Utopia’ kicked into action.

From the title and his world-building roll-out, it’s clear that Scott is trying to top himself yet again. The album is accompanied by a feature-length film Circus Maximus , a now-binned concert at Egypt’s Pyramids of Giza and is teasing another ancient world-themed performance in Pompeii.

This, his fourth studio album, retreats to the brashness of early mixtapes ‘Owl Pharaoh’ (2013) and ‘Days Before Rodeo’ (2014) and has the same impulse to intersperse high-gravitas sounds with obscured vocals. You’ll be surprised what utopia looks like – the first of five cover artworks he revealed looks like an Armand Hammer album cover. In a recent interview , he stressed that “people need to see that Utopia is real”, and that even a utopia cannot be without a measure of darkness.

Where Scott invited hip-hop’s all-stars to join him on his previous album, on ‘Utopia’, he reaches across the spectrum to enlist pop superstars, trap’s A-Team, electronic mavens and alternative heroes. There’s a three-track run that jumps between beats from Boi-1da and Sweet, James Blake , The Alchemist and Pharrell Williams ; it rivals OutKast’s ‘Stankonia’ for how it devours genres and settings into his world.

But Scott sounds maddened by the pursuit of finding that vague world. It’s reflected in how he puts himself in the throes of the quaking opener ’Hyaena’ and the cacophonous Zamrock of ‘Sirens’. “I’m just one angel away from blockin’ out the devil,” he raps on the stark ‘Lost Forever’. Across the runtime, Scott’s vocals are more expressive than ever, injecting atmospheres with guttural screams, howls and megaphoned professions to God’s power: “To the maker! Vibrator! Room shaker! Earth quaker! Annihilator!” on ‘Modern Jam’.

Scott’s tendency to split songs into multiple phases creates restless experiments in contrast. ‘Skitzo’ transitions from a relatively tame Young Thug verse to a beat from the Twilight Zone with reversed textures and paranoid strings. On ‘Lost Forever’, James Blake’s voice is bent to sound like an old Etta James sample and Scott spins it to glue with Westside Gunn’s militant onomatopoeia.

But ‘Modern Jam’ gives early signs of the record’s issues with forcing invigorating ideas into dull ones. Teezo Touchdown gives a spectacularly theatrical performance that sounds like André 3000 singing in a cabaret, but this is after one of the stalest performances of Scott’s career over a stiff drum loop that came from Daft Punk ’s Guy-Man de Homem-Christeo, his first piece of music since the French duo’s split in 2021 .

For all the market value of the feature list, whether Scott puts it to good use varies. With Beyoncé  on the Afropop-infused hip-house of ‘Delresto (Echoes)’, he carves out progressions and space for each artist, but ‘My Eyes’ makes clunky cameos out of Bon Iver and Sampha , the latter of whom arrives to croon for an almighty three lines. This issue of underutilisation extends to sheer carelessness at times. What does it say that Scott has Drake allegedly dissing Pharrell on one track (‘Meltdown’), and Pharrell producing another song (‘Looove’) later on? Petty words from Drake aside, it speaks to a compulsion to have a vast list of names that impress on paper with no regard for if they fit into the larger concept.

While rapping Travis is more prominent but he has long, hungry-sounding verses that say very little, his deeper conscience speaking out rarely within a litany of monetary figures and luxury purchases. ‘My Eyes’ comes closest to sounding like reaching that higher ground with dreamy synths ringing out an achingly innocent melody before Scott references his “1000 on my feet” Cactus Jack Jordans. If getting to utopia means spending a grand on a pair of trainers according to Scott, then he sounds like an evangelist with ulterior motives.

On the snarling rage rap of ‘Fe!n’ Scott raps “I’ve been focused on the future, never on right now” , but that line exposes the fallacy of ‘Utopia’. By going back to the sound of his early work, Scott steps back into the gargantuan shadow of his mentor. Kanye West – particularly the mechanical abrasiveness and fragmented textures of 2014’s ‘Yeezus’ – is not just an inspiration but an apparition that looms over Scott’s identity on this album. Scott helped create ‘Yeezus’ so the sentimentality is understandable, but he can’t claim that record’s sound any more than Daft Punk, Mike Dean or Arca can. Whereas ‘Astroworld’ was the perfect theme for Scott’s music – we’re going to a theme park! – in trying to navigate a lofty concept like finding utopia, his ambitions have led him back to someone who was far more formidable at it.

Who is Travis Scott? What to know about the Houston rapper

T he award-winning rapper and Houston native Travis Scott has been in the headlines as he fights to get removed from a lawsuit involving the deadly 2021 Astroworld Festival.

Here's what to know about the music artist:

Who is Travis Scott?

Jacques Bermon Webster II, known by his stage name "Travis Scott," is a 32-year-old rapper, singer, songwriter and producer. He is known not only for his music, music videos and creative concerts, but also for his personal style of mixing streetwear with high fashion.

In a 2018 interview with Jimmy Fallon on "The Tonight Show," Scott explained that he was influenced by musician Kid Cudi and wanted to include Kid Cudi's real name into his stage name . So, he combined his musician uncle's name, "Travis," with Kid Cudi's first name, "Scott," referring to them as his superheroes.

His parents' names are Wanda and Jacques Webster Sr. and he also has siblings named Jordan and Joshua Webster.

He signed his first record deal in 2012.

Where is Travis Scott from?

Travis Scott was born and raised in the Houston suburbs, but he also lived with his grandma from ages one to six, Complex reported. After dropping out of college, the rapper traveled to New York and then Los Angeles.

Why is Travis Scott so popular?

Travis Scott's strides to success became vital within the music industry. He grew up around music with his father, an amateur musician, who taught him to play drums. He also performed with rap groups with friends in high school, Forbes reported .

Scott attended the University of Texas at San Antonio but dropped out to travel to Los Angeles. After sending sample tracks, he was able to get a production gig from music manager Anthony Kilhoffer at Kanye West's G.O.O.D. Music, Forbes reported.

He released his first album, "Rodeo," which placed in the  top 10 on the Billboard 200 chart in 2015, XXL Magazine reported. Rodeo and sophomore follow-up "Bird in the Trap Sing McKnight" was certified platinum by the RIAA , according to HypeBeast.

Some of Scott's popular songs are "Goosebumps," "Butterfly Effect," "Sicko Mode," "Antidote" and others. The rapper has received BET Awards, Billboard Awards, MTV VMA Awards and more.  He currently has four studio albums, with his latest release, "Utopia," released on July 28, 2023.

He's known for performing with mosh pits and high-energy concerts. His performance at the 2017 Coachella had Rolling Stone reporting that "rap took over Coachella."

The intensity of the concerts led to him being charged with reckless conduct for a 2015 show in Chicago and disorderly conduct for a 2017 show in Chicago. However, he has denied wrongdoing and asked to be removed from the lawsuits. The most infamous incident was the 2021 Astroworld Festival at which 10 people died and hundreds were injured.

Does Travis Scott have his own record label?

Travis Scott introduced the record label Cactus Jack Records in 2017. In an interview with Numero, he said the label is to help artists, launch new names and provide opportunities.

Scott has also worked with different brands, including Nike and Air Jordan with his designs.

Is Travis Scott married?

Travis Scott was in a relationship with media personality and businesswoman Kylie Jenner until January 2023 when they split, as reported by Us Weekly. Jenner has been in a relationship with Timothée Chalamet.

Scott wasn't currently married, as of April 2024.

Scott and Jenner have two children: Stormi and Aire Webster.

What was the Astroworld tragedy?

One of the deadliest concert disasters in U.S. history happened in November 2021 after 10 fans died and hundreds were injured during the Astroworld Festival  that was hosted by Travis Scott at NRG Park in Houston.

Attendees rushed through various checkpoints and bypassed a COVID testing site once the entrance opened around 9 a.m. By 10 a.m. concertgoers swarmed the venue, damaged gates and breached merchandising lines. At least 5,000 fans snuck into the festival throughout the day.

Videos taken during the concert filled the headlines as  fans were seen trying to get the attention of concert staff and even Scott himself — but the show continued.

In 2022, court documents filed in Harris County said more than 700 people were believed to have been seriously injured.

The Houston Police Department released the  full concert report in 2023 , the same day Scott's "Utopia" album dropped. Investigators believe the crowd was compressed which killed some fans after  people piled into the festival grounds .

Why was Travis Scott sued after the Astroworld tragedy?

The lawsuit was filed by families of the victims who died at the festival.

Although Travis Scott posted an apology video of the incidents, there were mixed emotions about whether the rapper should be held responsible since he was the performer. His lawyers argued that Scott couldn't be held responsible for problems that resulted from planning and security.

Scott has been calling to be removed from the lawsuit .

However, other parties argued that Scott's actions before and during the concert, including actions of his employees and close associates, should be considered by a jury during a trial.

Nicki Minaj performs onstage during her Pink Friday 2 World Tour at Madison Square Garden on March 30, 2024 in New York City.

Nicki Minaj may be trekking her way through her Pink Friday 2 World Tour , but she still found some time to put together a remix for one of her recent Pink Friday 2 hits. On Thursday (April 18), Minaj announced a “Sleeze Mix” of “FTCU” via her Instagram account.

Nicki Minaj Teases ‘FTCU’ Remix With Sexyy Red: ‘Bring the Kids & the Stroller…

Trending on billboard.

While Minaj and Sexyy have collaborated once before — 2023’s “Pound Town 2” (No. 66, with Tay Keith ) — “FTCU (Sleeze Mix)” marks her first link-up with Travis Scott. It’s something of a full-circle moment for the two rap superstars after Minaj lambasted Scott and his family after merch bundles helped his Astroworld album block her Queen LP from topping the Billboard 200 back in 2018.

“FTCU” originally appeared on Minaj’s Pink Friday 2 , which debuted atop the Billboard 200 last winter (chart dated Dec. 23, 2023). Immediately becoming one of the album’s breakout hits, “FTCU” reached No. 15 on the Hot 100, spending 18 weeks and counting on the ranking; right now, the record sits at No. 79 (chart dated April 20).

Minaj is currently midway through her Pink Friday 2 World Tour, with a slew of dates slated to run through July 14 at Belgium’s Astrid Park.

Check out Nicki Minaj’s announcement of “FTCU (Sleeze Mix)” below.

Nicki Minaj, Travis Scott, Sexxy Red, and Chris Brown Bring the Sleaze for ‘FTCU’ Remix

By Jon Blistein

Jon Blistein

Nicki Minaj held nothing back for the new “Sleeze Mix” remix of her hit, “FTCU,” enlisting Travis Scott , Sexyy Red, and Chris Brown for the track.

The remix absolutely lives up to its sleazy billing, with all three guests delivering verses that are boisterous, graphic, and horny as hell. Sexxy Red probably delivers the tamest bars, and she’s still threatening to beat someone’s ass in the club. Meanwhile, Scott rhymed “burst,” “work,” twerk,” and “squirt,” and Brown, well, uh, yeah, his verse is definitely the most explicit, and the less said about that, the better .

Pink files legal action against pharrell williams over musician's proposed p.inc. trademark, come for the torture, stay for the poetry: this might be taylor swift's most personal album yet, drake drops new kendrick lamar diss track with ai tupac, snoop dogg verses.

Back in March, Minaj launched a world tour in support of Pink Friday 2 . The North American leg is still ongoing, with dates scheduled through May 12 in Austin. After that, she’ll head overseas for a European leg that kicks off May 23 in Amsterdam and wraps July 14 in Liège, Belgium.

In the aftermath of Pink Friday 2 , though, Minaj has largely been embroiled in beef . In January, she dropped “Big Foot,” a diss track very explicitly aimed at Megan Thee Stallion. The song followed Meg’s own single, “Hiss,” which was not an overt diss track but contained a line that Minaj interpreted as a reference to the failure of her husband, Kenneth Petty , to register as a sex offender in California (he was convicted of attempted rape in the mid-Nineties).
