God of War Ragnarök's Kvasir Poems Are Brilliant Nods to PlayStation History

God of War Ragnarök's stunning world hides a set of Easter egg artifacts called Kvasir's Poems. Here's where to find them and what they mean.

God of War Ragnarök has taken the gaming world by storm since its release on Nov. 9. It sold more physical copies in one day than its 2018 predecessor managed in its first week and has been nominated for 10 Game of the Year Awards . Its stellar combat, stunning graphics and impactful storylines have all been highly praised by both fans and critics, but its brilliance goes far beyond these major features.

Like the 2018 game, God of War Ragnarök hides many collectibles throughout its stunning semi-open world. Arguably, the best new set of artifacts is the 14 Kvasir Poems, which each cleverly reference a different PlayStation IP. Here's where to find each Kvasir Poem and which IP they relate to.

The Sunrise of Nothingness References Horizon Zero Dawn

Players will likely stumble across the game's first poem without too much hassle. It's easily found at the top of a wooden tower in Svartalfheim's Aurvangar Wetland, near the water wheels where players unlock the second gate for the boat to pass through. This one is a fairly on-the-nose reference to the Horizon franchise and its protagonist, Aloy, with its mentions of "creatures of metal" and a warrior whose hair is "as red as blood." The poem also highlights Aloy's unknown past and her secret identity as the clone of renowned scientist Elisabet Sobeck, which is key to the whole franchise.

Large Society Ground Orb, The Performance References MLB The Show

The second poem can be spotted immediately upon arriving at the docks of Nidavellir, but it's initially blocked by a soundstone wall. Fortunately, Atreus gains the Sonic Arrows ability soon after, so collecting this artifact is as simple as backtracking a short way through the Dwarven town to break the barrier. For baseball fans, this poem is easy to figure out, but it may prove tougher for those unfamiliar with the game. It depicts the sport as a war between two armies and references both the bat and the number of players on each team. The biggest clues, though, are the "nine nights and nine days," referencing the number of innings, and the "struck out" ending of the poem. These are clear nods to MLB The Show .

We Who Remain, Part the Second References The Last of Us Part II

The third poem takes a little more searching. It's collected alongside the side-quest "The Weight of Chains" and is found at the back end of Lyngbakr Island in Svartalfheim's Bay of Bounty. Once players reveal this island, it becomes apparent which end is the back. Players need to climb to the top of the rear end to collect this artifact. The poem is a subtle yet emotional nod to The Last of Us Part II , highlighting its key themes of cyclical revenge, destruction and loss. The bearded, cruel father is Joel, and his surrogate daughter is Ellie. The poem also reflects on the Cordyceps virus, and the cover depicts the moth that's become synonymous with the franchise.

Tool and Bang References Ratchet & Clank

The fourth Kvasir Poem is found toward the end of the Jarnsmida Pitmines area where it opens up to reveal several rail carts, water troughs and cranes. Players will need to use a combination of the Leviathan Axe and the Blades of Chaos to move a large stone block hanging from one of the cranes into position so that Kratos can jump onto it. Then, releasing the axe will swing the block around to where the poem is. This is one of the easier references, as the "steel and fur" friends are the eponymous heroes from Ratchet & Clank . Lines such as "with friends at their backs" cleverly relate to how Ratchet carries his robotic buddy throughout the series.

Kvasir Poem 5 - Afterlife Abandonment

This next poem is the first one found in Alfheim. It's located in The Strond, right after players use the first Twilight Stone to break a wooden door from behind. Once through this door, players should head straight forward and drop down a cliff to find the artifact behind some breakable pottery on the left-hand side. The poem's words are all related to Death Stranding , and its introduction is a humorous nod to the complex and often bizarre nature of Hideo Kojima's divisive titles. The cover is also clearly a map of America, highlighting the connections between colonies that Death Stranding tasks players to build.

Visions After Rest References Dreams

Practically impossible to miss, this poem is located in Alfheim's Temple of Light, right next to where players need to stand to get the right angle for the Twilight Stone to destroy the area's second crystal light door. Its title is a reference to the lesser-known game Dreams . The game, as the poem and its cover highlight, stars a controllable imp. Players are also given creative freedom to design and remix worlds and characters where, as the poem recites, "the limit is one's own imagination."

Spirits Within Walls References Concrete Genie

This next poem is also found in the Temple of Light. In the room full of nightmares, it's in an archway that players find immediately after using a wheel to lower a Twilight Stone into place. It summarizes the imaginative graffiti-based gameplay of Concrete Genie , with direct references to "a gentle boy and his brush" and his creations of "playful sprites." It makes note of the game's overarching gameplay and how it's used to drive the story so that Ash can save his hometown by bringing art to life.

Celestial Construct References Astro Bot

Celestial Construct lies a little off the game's primary beaten path. It's found in Alfheim's The Barrens in an area that's optional to explore. The large-toothed skeletal jaw that lies in the desert is certainly intriguing though, and for good reason. By entering its cave and exploring to the east after defeating the enemies inside, players will be rewarded with this artifact. It's one of the easier poem puzzles to solve as its cover literally depicts the joyous robot Astro Bot, which most PS5 owners will recognize instantly from the free Astro's Playroom that comes ready to play on every PS5 console. The poem's words, however, more specifically reference the story from Astro Bot Rescue Mission .

Upon Pursuing a Place Not Marked on Maps References Uncharted

This longer poem is found in the marketplace area of Vanaheim's Southern Wilds. Players will notice a breakable floor that hides the artifact, so they'll need to climb into position before smashing the ground. The column with the shield is the correct one to jump from. The poem is a clever nod to Uncharted . It highlights the franchise's key treasure-hunting premise and makes humorous nods to Nathan Drake's tendency to destroy things. Its famous climbing sections are also highlighted by the "strengthen your fingers" part of the poem. Fans will be particularly pleased by the inclusion of "from small beginnings," which is part of the Latin inscription on Nathan Drake's famous ring.

Trip References Journey

Trip is found on a small Elven tower in Alfheim's Forbidden Sands. It can be reached by heading northeast under a rock arch from the tunnel that leads to the area's entrance. It's near a small island covered in a red vine hive, which offers the right angle for throwing the Leviathan Axe off a Twilight Stone to uncover the island's treasure chest. The poem is a reference to the indie gem Journey . Its cover shows a musical chime, which is the only form of communication for players in-game. As the poem highlights in its first two lines, the game manages to evoke a strange sense of being both alone and beautifully connected.

Eastern Specter References Ghost of Tsushima

This poem is found in Vanaheim's Sinkholes, in the arena where players fight Crag Jaw. The area is only accessible once players have completed the "Creatures of Prophecy" main quest. Appropriately written in haiku form, this poem is a beautiful reference to Ghost of Tsushima , whose protagonist, Jin Sakai, uses haiku poetry to reflect on his journey. The game also uses the wind as a guidance tool and allows Jin to approach and "standoff" against groups of enemies as one of its main gameplay features. The first line is also a poignant reminder of the game's powerful ending , and the poem's cover depicts the mask worn by Jin as he becomes "The Ghost."

An Organization: in the Future References The Order: 1886

This poem is found in the tunnels southwest of Vanaheim's Jungle and can only be reached when the player has set the time of day to nighttime. Such a feat is achieved by finding one of the Celestial Altars. Players should then head from the Western Celestial Altar and cross over to the south, heading through the tunnels and jumping across the gap to reach the artifact. This hard-to-get poem is a nod to The Order: 1886 , which saw the legendary Knights of the Round Table tasked with saving humanity from the supernatural half-breeds that had taken over.

Sanguinity References Bloodborne

Players can access this poem by using an array of new equipment upon returning to Svartalfheim's Applecore via the Sverd Sands. Once there, players should ride the rope like a zipline before plugging the wall vent ahead and climbing the wall. Next, they can destroy the glowing yellow boulder to continue through to where the artifact is located. This poem is a nod to Bloodborne 's dark, maze-like city of Yharnam and the deadly moonlit hunt that terrorizes its inhabitants. The first line, "kill and die," also effectively sums up FromSoftware's iconically tough gameplay.

The Dead Do Not Ride References Days Gone

The final poem is found in the first room of Midgard's The Oarsmen and is accessible once players have ventured far enough to move the boat there. The poem's ominous words depict numerous aspects of the post-apocalyptic biker title, Days Gone . The "horses of steel" are references to the game's motorbikes, with the second line and the poem's cover highlighting the Mongrel's Motorcycle Club that the protagonist Deacon St. John was a proud member of. The mention of brothers is also important since friendship as a brotherhood is a poignant theme within the game.

This poem is the final one in the game, although players can go back if they've missed any of the previous ones. Once players have found all 14 Kvasir poems, they earn a bronze trophy titled "The Librarian" to reward their curiosity and exploration.

Direct Guide [ ]

This section shows you how to actually locate the poems.

Kvasir’s Poems 1 - The Sunrise of Nothingness [ ]

  • Location: Svartalfheim - Aurvangar Wetlands
  • References: Horizon: Zero Dawn

Practically tripped over as you use the water wheels to get to the second chain that lowers the final wall blocking the river. Once you ride on top of the giant metal anvil-like block to a higher level, you'll see this glowing purple on top of a table in front of you, next to a red Coffin.

Kvasir’s Poems 2 - Large Society Ground Orb, The Performance [ ]

  • Location: Svartalfheim - Nidavellir
  • Requires: Sonic Arrows
  • References: MLB: The Show

This Artifact can be spotted at the Nidavellir docks as soon as you arrive on the boat, on a larger dock close to where Kratos can dock the boat. The dock is blocked by a green Soundstone wall, which can be imploded with Sonic Arrows. If you don't have Sonic Arrows yet, talk to Sindri at the marketplace where the Odin statue is. Once you destroy the green wall, the Artifact will be on a crate directly under a blue-roofed shelter.

Kvasir’s Poems 3 - We Who Remain, Part the Second [ ]

  • Location: Svartalfheim - Lyngbakr Island
  • References: The Last of Us: Part II

This Kvasir Poem is found on the back of Lyngbakr Island, the whale island in Svartalfheim's Bay of Bounty from The Weight of Chains Favor. To get up there, head to the dock you originally used in the Favor and climb up the wall, then turn left, jump across the gaps, then go around the corner and climb up the gold chain on the right-hand wall. From there, look left to find some handholds you can use to climb up a large wall. At the top, turn left, leap across the gap, then jump across the next gap to find the Artifact on your right, next to a dead dwarf (there'll be a Coffin nearby).

Kvasir’s Poems 4 - Tool and Bang [ ]

  • Location: Svartalfheim - Jarnsmida Pitmines
  • References: Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart

This Artifact is found towards the end of the Jarnsmida Pitmines area, in the battle area where Sindri gives Kratos and Atreus new sources of light, just after Kratos shifts a cart to the side. To start, stand where the cart is and face forwards into the cave: here, make a wide U-turn to your right. Here you should spot a pillar holding up the water trough with gold segments: use the Blades of Chaos to turn the end of the trough, which will cause a giant crate holding a stone block to move towards you. While it's doing this, use the explosive pot to your left to destroy the gold rocks, letting you leap up to the crane's stone block one it's in position. Once you're on top of the stone block, throw the Leviathan Axe into the end of the trough: this blocks the water flow, making the crane move you to its original starting position. When the stone block has finally stopped moving, you can have Kratos hang off the side of the stone black and then leap over to a new area. From there, follow the mine cart tracks uphill: the Artifact will be at the top of the hill, close to a Legendary Chest on the right.

Kvasir’s Poems 5 - Afterlife Abandonment [ ]

  • Location: Alfheim - The Strond
  • References: Death Stranding

This Artifact in The Strond is found just after you first use Twilight Stone to destroy a wooden door from behind and fight some Wretches. Standing in the doorway facing the way forward, you should see a ledge just ahead that you can drop down. Do so, head left, then destroy the debris blocking the way, then kill the two Wretches who show up. In the room beyond the doorway will be the Artifact, sitting next to a Legendary Chest.

Kvasir's Poems 6 - Visions After Rest

  • Location: Alfheim - Temple of Light
  • References: Dreams

This Artifact is incredibly difficult to miss. As you journey through the Temple of Light, you'll go up a long curved staircase to a second Light Door. To lower it, you'll have to go right and leap up to a ledge. Once up there, go left to a balcony, getting you the right angle to bounce the Axe off a Twilight Stone and destroy the light crystal. The poem will be on this very balcony.

Kvasir’s Poems 7 - Spirits Within Walls [ ]

  • References: Concrete Genie

This Artifact is found after you use a wheel to lower a Twilight Stone to bounce into a light crystal, after which you'll be swarmed by Nightmares in the next room. Once they're all down, stand in the doorway and face the way forward: the poem will be in the room on your left, sitting on a table.

Kvasir’s Poems 8 - Celestial Construct [ ]

  • Location: Alfheim - The Barrens
  • References: Astro Bot Rescue Mission

This Artifact is found in the giant skeleton in the North-East area of The Barrens. Enter the mouth and then look for a wall you can leap up to, leading you through the skeleton's mouth. Inside is a battle area, where you'll fight many Grims, Cursed Grims, and Wretches. Once they're all down, look for the wall you can climb up in the East part of the room. The Artifact will be here at the top of the wall, close to a Legendary Chest.

Kvasir’s Poems 9 - Upon Pursuing a Place Not Marked On Maps [ ]

  • Location: Vanaheim - The Southern Wilds
  • References: Uncharted: Drake's Fortune

This lengthily-titled Artifact is found in the marketplace of Vanaheim's The Southern Wilds, which is only accessible at night. As you pass through, you'll have to go to the back of the marketplace and climb up to the upper walkways. Once there, take two lefts to go across some wooden walkways, then at the end, jump left across the gap. From there, instead of continuing across the next walkway, kick down the shield on the left-hand ledge, then smash down into the ground below. The Artifact will be there.

Kvasir’s Poems 10 - Trip [ ]

  • Location: Alfheim - The Forbidden Sands
  • Prerequisite: Complete the Song of the Sands Favor
  • References: Journey

This Artifact is in The Forbidden Sands of Alfheim, which is not available to explore until you complete The Reckoning main quest. Once you've done that, from the entrance to The Forbidden Sands in The Hjarta tunnel, head North-East under the rock arch, and keep an eye for a small elven tower on the right-hand side. Climb to the top of the tower from the back, and you'll find the Artifact at the top.

Kvasir’s Poems 11 - Eastern Specter [ ]

  • Location: Vanaheim - The Sinkholes
  • References: Ghost of Tsushima

This Artifact is found in The Sinkholes, one of the more arid regions in the Northern half of Vanaheim. You cannot visit this area until you complete the Creatures of Prophecy main quest. It's found in the arena where you fight the Crag Jaw: to get there, climb up the wall next to the Mystic Gateway at The Sinkholes’ entrance at the river, then head through the tunnels. Once you're there and have defeated the Crag Jaw, head for the North-Western corner of the arena and look for the Red Fungi Bramble: destroy it with a Hex Bubble and Blazing Surge combo. Slip through the gap, then head left, then right to go up the stairs. The Artifact will be at the top, at the feet of a dead warrior.

Kvasir’s Poems 12 - An Organization: In The Future [ ]

  • Location: Vanaheim - The Jungle
  • Prerequisite: Nighttime
  • References: The Order: 1886

This Artifact is found in The Jungle region of Vanaheim, which is part of the more arid Northern half of the realm. To get here, you'll need to set the time of day to night; you can do this by finding one of the Celestial Altars in one of the elevated Seidr-controlled spots. They have a stone tower above them. Once you've done this, head directly South of the Celestial Altar in the Western half of The Plains. You'll want to cross over to the opposite side to the South, but how you get there depends on if you've got a river or not:

  • If you've not done the Return of the River Favor and released the dam's waters, you'll have to cross over using a rock bridge that spans the chasm. If this is your only option, you'll have to do it at night, otherwise the road to the rock bridge will be blocked by a wall of plants.
  • If you have done the Return of the River Favor, there'll be a river here instead. To cross, you'll have to get in the boat and row over to the shore here. If you can do this, you won't have to go at night.

Once you're across, head through the tunnels until you come to a large gap. Cross over it by climbing the ruined wall on your left: once across, the Artifact will be in the back-right corner at the feet of a warrior.

Kvasir’s Poems 13 - Sanguinity [ ]

  • Prerequisite: Complete the Forging Destiny main quest
  • Location: Svartalfheim - The Applecore
  • References: Bloodborne

This Artifact is found in The Applecore in Svartalfheim, however it cannot be reached until the story has you return here and you complete the Forging Destiny main quest, much later in the game. You'll pick up some new equipment along the way that you can use to get through. Once you've done this, return to The Applecore by going to the Mystic Gateway in the Aurvangar Wetlands, then take the ferry that goes North-West to the Sverd Sands. Here you'll find the elevator back into The Applecore. Once you're down here, look for the Rope Frame you can now use to create a shortcut. Ride the zipline down to the bottom, then continue North through the tunnel. When you round the corner, you'll see a high wall with a Wind Vent on the side. Use your new equipment to plug it up, then climb up the wall to the top. At the top, head forward and you'll see a large boulder with a yellow Wind Fissure on it. Throw your new equipment into it and then detonate it with the Triangle button, destroying the boulder. The Artifact will be in the clearing up ahead, on the right-hand side next to a dead Grim with a sword in it. If you're wondering about the name of the poem, sanguine is derived from the Latin word “sanguis”, meaning “blood”.

Kvasir’s Poems 14 - The Dead Do Not Ride [ ]

  • Location: Midgard - The Oarsmen
  • References: Days Gone

This Artifact is found in the first room of The Oarsmen,  however it's inside one of the giant boats. Thus, you cannot get inside it until you've climbed back above ground, defeated the Stalker, pulled the chain to move the boat, descended back underground, and opened the gate back to the starting area. Once you've done all that, return to the starting area and once again climb up the wall to the left of the Nornir Chest. You'll now climb into the giant boat: when you get to the top, the Artifact will be on your right! The Coffin here contains 6 Stonewood and 891 Hacksilver.

Screen Rant

God of war ragnarök: every playstation easter egg in kvasir’s poems.

God of War Ragnarök features 14 beautiful Kvasir Poems you can find hidden within the game, but could these poems be hiding even more within them?

Hidden within the story of God of War Ragnarok are 14 books of poems known as Kvasir's Poems, each with its own secret Easter egg hidden within that alludes to various PlayStation games. GoW is a series that is known for its collectible surprises for players, and these discoveries are extremely satisfying for fans to uncover and decipher. Additionally, creative call-outs such as these also continue to strengthen the bonds of the tight-knit PlayStation community while allowing players to fondly remember the games mentioned.

Intermixed with the Norse mythology of the game, Santa Monica Studio snuck in 14 very clever Easter eggs from PlayStation-exclusive games for players to find. In Norse mythology, Kvasir was a poet and known as the wisest of all. In God of War Ragnarok , he spreads this wisdom and poetry with 14 works that Kratos can discover along his journeys.

Kvasir's Poem: The Sunrise of Nothingness

The first of Kvasir's poems for Kratos to uncover is "The Sunrise of Nothingness." It is a beautiful poetic reference to Aloy, the protagonist of Horizon Zero Dawn . This piece can be found in Svartalfheim.

Kvasir's Poem: Large Society Ground Orb, The Performance

The second poem is a very clever play on the story of baseball. "Large Society Ground Orb, The Performance" is a fun description of MLB: The Show . While this game is now available on other platforms as well, it was originally a PlayStation exclusive. This poem can also be found in Svartalfheim.

Kvasir's Poem: We Who Remain, Part The Second

The third in Kvasir's repertoire is also in Svartlfheim. Titled "We Who Remain, Part The Second" and self-described as a dramatic piece, Kvasir's epic poem references The Last of Us Part 2 .

Kvasir's Poem: Tool And Bang

"Tool and Bang" is the last of Kvasir's poems to be found in Svartlfheim. A fun play on words, this poem alludes to the PlayStation-exclusive series of Ratchet and Clank . If one looks closely, the beautifully designed image on the cover of the book is that of Ratchet with Clank's head drawn inside.

Kvasir's Poem: Afterlife Abandonment

Fifth in Kvasir's Poems is "Afterlife Abandonment." This poem can be found in Alfheim, the realm of the Elves. In a simplistic yet thought-provoking manner, this poem is referring in its own way to the game Death Stranding.

Kvasir's Poem: Visions After Rest

Next up is Kvasir's sixth poem, "Visions After Rest." Also in Alfheim, this poem is regarding the amazing PlayStation title, Dreams . Dreams allows players to essentially create anything they could possibly imagine, as Kvasir notes in his work.

Kvasir's Poem: Spirits Within Walls

The seventh poem, also in Alfheim, is titled "Spirits Within Walls." The poem is speaking of the 2019 game, Concrete Genie . Released as a PS4 exclusive, it needs the ray tracing of the PS5, yet is still stunningly beautiful with its artistry and use of color.

Kvasir's Poem: Celestial Construct

Alfheim's last Kvasir poem, "Celestial Construct" skips in order to be listed as the ninth poem in the collection. It is referencing the game Astro's Playroom which was pre-installed on PS5s as a fun tutorial on the new DualSense controllers and capabilities of the system.

Kvasir's Poem: Upon Pursuing A Place Not Marked On Maps

Number eight in the collection menu, but ninth in terms of when players might come across it in the game is "Upon Pursuing A Place Not Marked On Maps." The longest of Kvasir's poems, it references one of the most popular and critically acclaimed PlayStation-exclusive series, Uncharted . This lengthy but brilliant poem can be found in Vanaheim, the realm of the Vanir.

Kvasir's Poem: Trip

"Trip" aims to take players to a remembrance of the game Journey . Journey was one of the free PS4 games offered in Sony's Play at Home initiative in 2020, although the game was originally released in 2012. Again, Kvasir's poems jump in order of number on the collection screen as "Trip" is listed as the final poem, number fourteen. However, as this poem is also found in Vanaheim it can be found much sooner than that.

Kvasir's Poem: Eastern Specter

Located in Alfheim, "Eastern Specter" is a simple and elegant haiku written in homage of Ghost of Tsushima . The haiku format is quite fitting for this Japanese-themed role-playing game of a samurai warrior, where the player as protagonist Jin composes haiku of their own.

Kvasir's Poem: An Organization: In The Future

"An Organization: In The Future" speaks of the battle using advanced technology in The Order: 1886 . This PS4 exclusive was released in 2015 as a horror survival game with movie-quality visuals.

Related: GoW Ragnarök: Why Thor Doesn't Kill [SPOILER] When They First Meet

Kvasir's Poem: Sanguinity

Back in Svartalfheim, Kratos can find the Kvasir poem, "Sanguinity." This poem exquisitely references the hit game, Bloodborne . Sparking an era of many Bloodbornelike-inspired games this beloved PlayStation exclusive was considered the 2015 game of the year by many sites and still has fans waiting for official news of a sequel.

Kvasir's Poem: The Dead Do Not Ride

Finally, Kratos can find the Kvasir poem "The Dead Do Not Ride" in Midgard. This poem brilliantly alludes to the post-apocalyptic game Days Gone. The action-adventure game features a world where a pandemic turned many humans into zombies. Kvasir's reflection on " horses of steel and oil and leather " in his poem is a clever nod at the game's use of motorcycles as a means of helping the remaining few survive.

Santa Monica Studio incorporating these Easter eggs into God of War Ragnarok is a fun treat for players who enjoy finding the collectibles in games, and even more so when they are able to decipher what the poems mean. Sony games in general share in a camaraderie and will often reference each other, though not always in such a poetic fashion as Kvasir has done.

All Artifacts & Kvasir's Poems locations - God of War Ragnarok

Where to find all the Artifacts in God of War Ragnarok including Kvasir's Poems.

Sam Chandler

God of War Ragnarok has several unique sets of artifacts for players to find. These artifacts can be well hidden or off the beaten path, making them difficult to locate. Each piece will offer some insight into the rich lore of the world but can also be sold for another type of riches: Hacksilver.

Below is each set of artifacts in God of War Ragnarok that you can find in four realms. The collectibles are split into the order in which you are likely to discover them on your journey through the game. Use the following links to jump to the appropriate set of artifacts:

  • Things Left Behind – Svartalfheim artifacts
  • Tributes to Freyr – Alfheim artifacts
  • Family Crests – Vanaheim artifacts
  • Stolen Treasures – Midgard artifacts

Kvasir’s Poems

Kvasir's poems playstation game solutions.

Note that Kvasir's Poems are actually riddles for PlayStation games. The poem's title, the prose, and even the image of the poem all offer hints to the game. If you're struggling to work them out, use the above link to find the answers.

While you're finding artifacts, check out our Odin's Ravens and Nornir chest guides . These will help you track down the other collectibles in the game.

Things Left Behind – Svartalfheim

There are six artifacts to find in Svartalfheim as part of the Things Left Behind collection. These can all be collected on your first trip to Svartalfheim as they do not require any backtracking.

Drop down the ledge on your left to find the statue on a barrel.

Lower the drawbridge by removing the fungus with your Blades of Chaos and Sigil arrows and hitting the gears with your axe. Clear out the enemies in the next room and then enter the hallway. The artifact is in a small room to the north of the adjoining hallway.

Kvasir’s Crest

kvasir's crest family crests artifacts

This artifact is in the Veiled Passage in Vanaheim. It is along the main path through the cliff, behind a wooden barricade where the spitting plants are found. This location requires the Favor, Freya’s Missing Peace. Travel south down the river toward Goddess Falls. When you reach the bottom, head east into the cavern and work your way up to the cliff path. Continue onward to find the wooden boards and your artifact.

Stolen Treasures – Midgard

There are six artifacts to find in Midgard as part of the Stolen Treasures collection.

Ankh stolen treasure artifacts

The Ankh artifact is found in the Oarsmen area of the Shores of Nine in Midgard. Accessing it requires working through the area (defeating the Stalker) and pulling the large chain to reveal stairs. Go down the stairs, turn around and go behind them to find the artifact.

Janbiya stolen treasure artifacts

Another artifact is found in a cave under Tyr’s Temple in Midgard. Go to where the statue’s helmet has fallen and look toward the temple. To the right of the Raider Stronghold will be a cave covered in icicles. Break the ice to spot the item on the ground.

Maya stolen treasure artifacts

Find the Maya artifact below the bridge to Tyr’s Temple in Midgard. There is a small rise with a dead body, beside which is the artifact.

Lyre stolen treasure artifacts

This artifact is found in the Derelict Outpost in Midgard. Cross the chasm using the crane and then use the chain to raise another swinging point to the west side. Swing across, turn right and drop down the ledges to find the lyre on the ground beside a barricade that can be destroyed by a Sonic arrow.

There are 14 of Kvasir’s Poems to find throughout God of War Ragnarok. Each poem alludes to another game in the PlayStation catalog. The title of the poem and the prose offer hints. Find the answers to each one further below.

Go through the barricade and drop down the cliff on your left. Follow the path to a Legendary chest and the poem on the ground beside it.

Visions After Rest

Visions After Rest kvasir's poem

Another poem is in Alfheim inside the Temple of Light. Work through the main path until you reach the stairs that curve upward. Follow them up and into the next section and you’ll enter an enclosed foyer that leads through a gate and into a brighter area. Don’t go through the gate, instead, turn right and use the Blades of Chaos to reach an upper ledge (there will be a large purple twilight rock hanging from the ceiling). The book is on the balcony at the end.

Spirits Within Walls

Head back to the Applecore using the mystic gateway at Sverd Sands. When you arrive, create a zipline and cross the chasm, drop down and continue through the path until you reach a dead end. Climb up the big wall (where the jet of air is) and look to your right to spot some rocks. Destroy the rocks that are marked with the golden glow and pass through. The poem is on the ground with a coffin nearby.

God of War Ragnarok is the eighth game in the God of War series. Coming out in late 2022, it takes you through a mystical adventure with the protagonist of the series, Kratos. Receiving critically high ratings, the game is around 25 hours long to complete. With tons of things to do , speed runs of the game even average around 13 to 12 hours long. Quests span across multiple areas and NPCs, requiring lots of puzzles to solve and searching to find. There are tons of powerful side bosses and alternative quests to complete off of the main storyline. For casual scene enjoyers, there's even a photo mode within the game.

Kvasir's poems are scattered across the land, in 14 different locations. These play out a story surrounding the year 1886. These poems appear in the journal after being collected and can be viewed at any point. They are essential to getting that 100% score in the game, as well as a neat add-on to discovering the world around you. Each game has so much in-depth lore and story that it's worth picking up for anyone interested in learning more about the world.

Located in the Aurvangar Wetlands, this poem requires a small puzzle.

Looking at the wooden contraption, Kratos will be prompted to hit the rope holding the large block. Throwing the Leviathan, the axe that Kratos uses, the block will fall. This will allow Kratos to hop on top of the block and look around.

Located to the front-left side of the block is a ring of rushing water. Throw the Leviathan at the water to cause the block to rise up. Once it's risen, there will be a platform to land on.

This platform has a chest, along with the first poem out of fourteen to be collected.

Hidden near merchants in the area of Nidavellier, this poem is easier to obtain.

Head down to the dock from the merchant's circle, then at the teal wall blocking the way. Use a sonic arrow at the barrier to break it open and reveal what's behind it.

Stationed on Lyngbakr Island, this poem requires a bit of platforming to get through.

Traverse to the other side and find the wooden side of the stone wall. It will be in a slight ladder formation and have the prompt to jump onto it.

Jump onto that wood board then up until you cannot climb anymore. Look up and find the area ahead of the gap with the prompt to jump onto it. Hop up and all the way up onto the wooden platform at the top.

Go up the stone ramp in front of the wooden platform and jump, activating the swing to the other side when the prompt appears. Jump over that platform onto the next.

Collect the third poem in front of this body.

Set in the Jarnsmida Pitmines, find the crane platform and ride it to its peak.

Face the blue jump marker and begin to climb down the platform. Launch onto the jump prompt and climb up to the railroad track. Follow this railroad down its path, not taking the left path marked by the wooden entry archway.

The fourth Kvasir poem is located at the end of this path, signified by the small purple light.

RELATED: God of War Ragnarok: How To Get Smoldering Embers

The fifth Kvasir poem lies in The Strond.

Aiming the Leviathan against the Twilight Stone, get the line of reflection to go against the post that holds the gate closed. Twilight Stone will bounce the axe back in the direction signified by the glowing blue line. The gate will open, revealing a stone ledge with a marker on the ground directing downward. Heading towards the platform below, head to the left and directly into the cave.

The poem will be located inside the cave, easily seen by the purple light it gives off.

Located within the Temple of Light, this poem is not too hidden or hard to obtain.

Climb up this wall with a chain to reach a platform of the temple with an array of paths.

Look for this climbable spot on a stone archway, climb up, and hop right onto the area connected to the archway.

Walking through the path, heading right, the poem will be right at the end.

Still lying in the Temple of Light, this poem leads to a different section of the area.

Aim the Leviathan at this Twilight Stone in a manner where it's directly pointed at the blue crystal. Hit it and break it. After this, climb up the wall to the right side and reach the main circular area in front of the Twilight Stone.

The seventh poem is located in the left room in the circle.

This poem is located within The Barrens.

Climb this wall upwards, marked by the paintings against the stone.

The poem is located on the ledge, right of the chest.

In The Southern Wilds, the ninth poem becomes easy to collect.

This rock has the possibility to be broken by smashing through it.

Then the poem is just lying underneath the rock sheet.

RELATED: God of War Ragnarok: How To Get Tyr's Guiding Light Armor

This poem lies far within The Crater.

Climb up these stairs and enter the area. Go through the area following the right path until reaching a big gap. Go towards the wall on the left side of the gap, right on the ledge.

Activate the prompt for this wall to climb against it, going up and around the gap to the other side.

On the other side, the poem is on the right-hand side against the wall. Though dark in the room, the poems all shine a low purple.

In The Forbidden Sands, this poem proves quite easy to find.

A structure in The Forbidden Sands displays markers to climb out of it. Climb up onto it then onto the front end of the structure.

The poem is located inside the top part of it, right in the middle of the circle.

Located back in The Crater, the twelfth poem lies deep inside a structure.

Going inside, the pathway is blocked by vines on the furthest left side. Blast these open with fire to get through. After that, Kratos will be able to slide through the path and get to the other side easily.

Going forward and up a flight of stairs, the poem will be on the right-hand side of the room on the ground.

Located in the mines down below that connect Applecore to the Sverd Sands, this poem requires the Draupnir. This is a spear that can be used for certain objectives and fighting.

Going through the mines, there's a wall with a symbol painted on it. Turn to the left then use the Draupnir to pierce through where the wood panel is leaking. This will stick the Draupnir into the wall and allow Kratos to jump onto the spear and then up onto the ledge.

Run through the patch until approach this glowing rock formation. Hit it with the Draupnir spear. It will turn from yellow to pink, then explode and allow Kratos to get through.

The poem will be a bit forwards from the rock formation, lying on the ground.

Placed in The Oarsmen, right by the Mystic Gateway, this is the last and fourteenth poem.

Go up to this ledge on the left-hand side and climb up it. Turn to the right then climb the wall as inscribed in the painting. Traverse up then to the right all the way to the downward arrow. Instead of jumping down, jump up onto the ledge.

The Poem will be on this ledge. This is the last poem to collect in God of War Ragnarok.

God Of War Ragnarok: All Kvasir Poems And What Games They Reference

These fourteen poems are nods to other titles available on Sony consoles.

If there’s one thing the God of War series is good for, it’s finding new and interesting ways to adapt the myths. They didn’t drop the ball in God of War: Ragnarok either, using even the smallest game components to reference something new, including the collectible artifacts.

God Of War Ragnarok: Valhalla - Best Reflection Runes To Invest In

One of the artifact sets is dedicated to the mythical poet Kvasir, a wise man who is already dead by the time we first discovered his poems. Not all is as it seems with them, however, as the poems are actually subtle references to different PlayStation-exclusive games. Between the content of the poem, the title, and the book’s cover, there are a lot of context clues given to figure them out.

Updated on March 2, 2024, by Marco Vito Oddo : Kvasir’s poems are one of the best collectibles in God of War: Ragnarok. It's also cool to see game developers paying their respect to other great titles in the industry, and it's even better when an AAA studio makes the effort to praise both high-budget and indie releases.

Yet, to fully understand all the references in Kvasir’s poems is no easy feat. First, you have to track them down by exploring every nook and cranny of the game. Then, you need to catch some not-so-subtle references to each game they refer to. Finding all the poems is a satisfying experience that improves your God of War: Ragnarok playthrough.

14 The Sunrise Of Nothingness

This poem references the popular Horizon: Zero Dawn . The creatures of metal in the air, on the seas, and on the land are the usual enemies you can find in the game. The warrior with hair red as blood of course refers to the game’s protagonist, Aloy. It even talks about her unknown past and other secrets she holds that are important to the game and the series as a whole. The sketch of the book’s cover even references the triangle motif seen throughout the game.

Where To Find The "The Sunrise Of Nothingness" Poem?

You can find this poem in the Aurvangar Wetlands in Svartalfheim. When you're on the river after exiting the first mystic gateway, it will be right next to the chain that opens one of the watergates that opens up the next area. You can't miss it once you've solved the puzzle.

13 Large Society Ground Orb, The Performance

You might recognize this as a retelling of a baseball game. That’s because this poem references MLB The Show , which was originally a PlayStation exclusive. Essentially, the two armies of nine are the two baseball teams, their bats are branches, and the nine nights and days refer to the nine innings in a game. Perhaps the most obvious way to determine this, however, is the last line of the poem about the team striking out, and the sketch looks almost exactly like a baseball.

Where To Find The "Large Society Ground Orb, The Performance" Poem?

Once you reach Nidavellir in Svartalfheim, the poem is visible when you dock. Unfortunately, it’s sealed off, and you don’t have the power for it when you first arrive. Head a little further into the city and meet up with Sindri, and he’ll give you the upgrade you need. Just don’t forget to turn back around after and pick it up from where it sits next to the chest.

12 We Who Remain, Part The Second

The Last of Us series is referenced in this poem. The first half seems to directly talk about the virus running amok in this post-apocalyptic society, especially when mentioning the disease of rotting bodies. The second half mentions a father and daughter pair, referencing Joel and Ellie, along with the long, painful story they’ve had to face together through both games . The book’s cover, while maybe not entirely recognizable at first, is a moth that has become a symbol throughout the games.

Where To Find The "We Who Remain, Part The Second" Poem?

In Svartalfheim’s Bay of Bounty, you can strike the drum at the Watchtower to unlock Lyngbakr Island. There’s a lot to explore and collect here, and of course, this Kvasir poem is here too. Climb your way to the top of the island, and on the platforms there you’ll find a chest and the poem on the ground.

11 Tool And Bang

This poem is a reference to Ratchet & Clank , the words of the title being direct synonyms for the two protagonists, alongside the first line with steel and fur. It talks about their relationship not only with each other but with people they meet along the way. The line with friends at their backs also talks about how Ratchet carries Clank along on his back during the journey. If you look at the cover too, you’ll see a symbol intended to resemble the two protagonists.

God Of War Ragnarok: The Best Build For Atreus

Where to find the "tool and bang" poem.

The Jarnsmida Pitmines in Svartalfheim hold this poem. There are tons of puzzles to solve in order to reach the inside of the mines, one of which involves a large crane. Solve this puzzle and swing yourself around the mine while on the crane in order to reach a small hidden area of the map. There, you’ll find the poem sitting among the tables and tools.

10 Afterlife Abandonment

If you’re not in the know, this poem references Death Stranding . While being a nice change of pace from the other lengthy poems, if you’ve never played the game, it will be next to impossible to understand properly. Even the introduction of the poem is a reference, talking about designer Hideo Kojima and how his games are complex and often bizarre . The drawing is very clearly a rough approximation of America, connecting together the colonies players are tasked with building in the game.

Where To Find The "Afterlife Abandonment" Poem?

The mystic gateway to Alfheim sets you down right in The Strond, where there’s plenty of room for exploration. With lots of ledges and crevices, there are a lot of collectibles as you make your way up to the temple. You’ll find this poem on one of these ledges alongside a legendary chest. Just break through the barricade blocking your path and you’ll be able to find it.

9 Visions After Rest

This poem references the lesser-known game Dreams . The imp mentioned in the poem and seen on the cover is the player-controlled character in the game. It also talks about how there is a wide range of possibilities in the game, only limited by one’s own imagination. This refers to the fact that players are given creative freedom, able to design and mix worlds that already exist in the game or new worlds of their own.

Where To Find The "Visions After Rest" Poem?

Alfheim’s Temple of Light holds this poem. Luckily, it’s not too hard to find. You’ll have to jump up onto a ledge to get the right angle to solve one of the early light doors. There’s a little bit of room to explore on the ledge, though, and it’s just around the corner up there that you’ll find the poem laying on the floor.

8 Spirits Within Walls

This poem references Concrete Genie . The protagonist is referenced by the gentle boy and his brush, and his graffiti art creations are playful sprites. The poem also references the gameplay and story, talking about how bringing color back to his hometown and bringing his art to life helps him save the town. The book cover sketch is probably the hardest to recognize, as it barely looks like anything. But the actual cover is an array of colors and a few drip marks that often accompanies graffiti.

God Of War Ragnarok: Builds To Try In NG+

Where to find the "spirits within walls" poem.

This poem is in the Temple of Light in Alfheim, and isn’t too far from the last poem you can collect. In fact, it’s just at the next light door puzzle. Once you solve this puzzle, you can head through the door and find a small room off to the side of the main path. In there, you’ll find the poem.

7 Celestial Construct

If you’re lucky enough to have a PS5, you might recognize this one as Astro’s Playroom , a free game included with the console. The cover is, quite literally, Astro himself, a clear depiction of his face. There are several minigames within Astro's Playroom, and this focuses on one: Astro Bot Rescue Mission. Coincidentally, this was also a game for the PSVR. Both titles were intended to make something light and easy for players to learn the new technology.

Where To Find The "Celestial Construct" Poem?

The Barrens in Alfheim are covered in violent storms before you arrive, making it hard to see where you’re going. Luckily, there is a quest to help clear out the storms, meaning you can finally see what’s going on in the desert around you. There’s a large carcass in the first section of the Barrens, with a small clearing inside of it. By the lore marker up at the top of this clearing, you can find this poem.

6 Upon Pursuing A Place Not Marked On Maps

The longest poem in the game is a nod to the Uncharted series. The poem focuses on the treasure hunts Nathan Drake goes on in each game, with the highs and lows of the hunt. It also highlights how destructive Drake tends to be in the process, and the well-known climbing aspects of the games. Drake’s ring that he wears around his neck is also included, and a phrase that is a part of the inscription on it. The cover isn’t as easy to recognize, but it’s actually the crest on the front of Drake’s journal.

The Southern Wilds in Vanaheim holds this poem. The main quest will take you right through the market square ruins, where you’ll have to fight off all manners of creatures in order to continue. Once you’ve defeated them, explore around a little bit before moving on. You’ll have to find a vantage point to jump down and break the floor in the market to find the poem that’s hiding down below.

This poem references the game Journey , a unique multiplayer indie game. The cover of the poem is a chime you can find in-game, and coincidentally the only way that players can communicate with each other. The poem not only tries to tell the tale of what the gameplay and story are, but mentions how the game can make each player feel alone in the world yet somehow connected.

Where to find the "trip" poem.

Alfheim’s Forbidden Sands is where you can find this poem, though you’ll have to clear the storm first to see it properly. There’s a ruined elven tower here that holds the poem, but watch out — a Frost Phantom guards the structure, and will attack when you get close. After the fight, climb up into the tower’s balcony to pick up the poem.

4 Eastern Specter

This short haiku is a reference to Ghost of Tsushima . The protagonist of that game, Jin Sakai, also uses haikus throughout, so it’s a fitting choice. The wind is a reference to the use of it as a guide during your adventure. In the second line, the standoff is talking about one of the main gameplay features when faced against groups of enemies. Even the cover is pretty easy to notice, as it’s the Ghost mask Jin wears in the game .

Where To Find The "Eastern Specter" Poem?

This poem is in The Sinkholes Vanaheim’s crater. There are a lot of quests around here that will lead you through the area and help you reach your destination. The ground seems to rumble thanks to some kind of beast upon your arrival, earning you the Quaking Hollow Favor. Follow the noise, track down its source, and defeat the boss. Then, in that arena, you’ll find the poem hidden behind some bramble vines you’ll need to burn with the Blades of Chaos.

3 An Organization: In The Future

This poem references the lesser-known PlayStation game The Order: 1886. The title references the future because Ragnarok is set perhaps a thousand years before 1886. The game features the legendary Knights of the Round Table, tasked with saving humanity from the supernatural — another reference in the poem. If you’re not sure what the book cover is either, it’s the Order’s symbol, found on the game’s cover image.

Where To Find The "An Organization: In The Future" Poem?

In the crater’s jungle in Vanaheim, you’ll find a lot of ruins that can be hard to distinguish from each other. Luckily, the ruin that holds this poem has a pretty unique signifier. As you’re climbing around, you’ll hear Mimir talk about how it looks like a large beast had passed through the area. Once he says that, you’ll know the poem is nearby at the base of a wall.

2 Sanguinity

The game referenced here is Bloodborne , with the poem talking about the dark, winding city of Yharnam. Many different aspects of gameplay throughout the game are also touched on, highlighting the different origins players could choose from to customize their gameplay. It also mentions the iconic difficulty , often one of the most recognizable traits of FromSoftware games. The cover is the hunter’s mark from the game, too.

Where To Find The "Sanguinity" Poem?

You’ll need the Draupnir Spear to get to this poem in The Applecore in Svartalfheim. Since you’ve already been through the area once by the time you get the spear, the easiest way to get back to the poem is by taking the ferry, or by using The Applecore Entrance mystic gateway. Once you’re back, head down into the mines once more and keep an eye out for a wind notch. Climb up there, detonate the nearby weak point, and enter the new area to find the poem.

1 The Dead Do Not Ride

The zombie game Days Gone is the source material for this poem. The first two lines reference the game's motorcycles and the Mongrel’s Motorcycle Club, and the cover is the symbol of the club, too. The protagonist, Deacon St. John, was a proud member of this club, and it plays an important role in the story. The rest of the poem talks about brothers fighting and dying together, which was another key theme in the game’s story.

Where To Find "The Dead Do Not Ride" Poem?

Located by The Oarsmen in Midgard, you’ll have to find a secret area in order to find the poem. Progress through the area and the quest and you’ll eventually gain access to a second set of stairs. Near the Nornir chest, you’ll find a small alcove to climb up into that contains a chest and the poem you seek.

Nowadays, it is pretty common to have collectables in a game. A lot of developers add these to their games just as another thing that you can do but only some take their fair time to incorporate these collectables into the game with a meaning behind every one of them. This is exactly the case with the God of War Ragnarok Kvasir poems . There are a total of 14 poems present throughout the game and each one of them has an interesting story to it.

These poems are really incredible due to their hidden meaning and players are always looking forward to deciphering such things. All of the 14 Kvasir poems allude to different PlayStation games that they have released over the years. This makes finding these poems that much more interesting and intriguing. These poems are really detailed and contain references to some of the best PlayStation Games.

Some of them are a bit hard to find in the first go-through, so we have made a guide for you. Using this guide, you can easily find all of the God of War Ragnarok Kvasir poems without any trouble.

God of War Ragnarok Kvasir poems, their locations, and what they mean

There are many Kvasir poems to find in God of War Ragnarok. Below, you’ll find their locations as well as their names and what lore they refer to. There are easter eggs galore in this one. The God of War Ragnarok Kvasir poems are:

1st Poem – The Sunrise of Nothingness

Location : Svartalfheim – Aurvangar Wetlands

When you are using the water wheels to remove the walls blocking the river, this is when you come across this poem. After you’ve risen to a higher level through the metal block, you will find this poem present on top of a table. It is glowing beside the red coffin and is easy to spot.

This poem is a reference to Aloy who is the main character in Horizon Zero Dawn.

2nd Poem – Large Society Ground Orb, The Performance

Location : Svartalfheim – Nidavellir

You can find this poem in the Nidavellir Docks. It is right next to the place where you dock your boat and is essentially a bigger dock. There is a green Soundstone wall blocking the dock, so you will need Sonic Arrows. You can talk to Sindri if you don’t have these arrows yet. After the wall is destroyed, you can pick up the artifact from under the blue shelter.

This poem is a reference to MLB: The Show and depicts a baseball story.

3rd Poem – We Who Remain, Part the Second

Location : Svartalfheim – Lyngbakr Island

You can find this poem on the back side of Lyngbakr Island. Firstly, you need to go to the docks that you used earlier and climb up the wall. After climbing the wall, make a left turn and go through the gaps. Go around the corner and climb up the golden chain present on the right wall. You need to use the handholds to climb up the big wall. After reaching the top, go through the gaps and you will find the artifact next to the dead dwarf.

This is a poetic reference to Naughty Dog’s The Last of Us Part II.

4th Poem – Tool and Bang

Location : Svartalfheim – Jarnsmida Pitmines

For finding this artifact, you need to go to the Jarnsmida Pitmines area. You need to stand with your face towards the cart and take a u-turn to the right side. There will be a pillar present there with gold segments. Using your Blades of Chaos, you need to turn it until you see a crate holding a stone block move toward you. Upon seeing this, you need to destroy the rocks by using the explosive pot present on your left side. This will allow you to climb up the block on the crate.

From there, you need to throw the Leviathan Axe on the same pillar. This will block the water and move you into the crane’s original position. Once it is back in its spot, you can hang from the side of the stone and jump to the new area. Follow the mine tracks until you come across the artifact.

This poem is a reference to the Rachet and Clank series.

5th Poem – Afterlife Abandonment

Location : Alfheim – The Strond

You need to stand in the doorway while facing forward. There is a ledge a bit ahead that you need to drop down. Then head to the left side, clearing the debris in your way and fighting the two Wretches. You will come across the artifact beside a legendary chest.

This poem is a reference to the thought-provoking game Death Stranding.

6th Poem – Visions After Reset

Location : Alfheim – Temple of Light

You have to go through a long staircase in the Temple of Light that leads to a light door. But in order to lower the door, you need to head right and to the ledge. After reaching there, go left onto the balcony. You will then need to throw your axe at the Twilight Stone, thus destroying the crystal. The 6th poem is present on this balcony.

This poem is a reference to the excellent PlayStation game, Dreams, in which you can literally do anything.

7th Poem – Spirits Within Walls

This poem is also present in the Temple of Light. At a point, you need to use a wheel for lowering the Twilight Stone into a light crystal, and then you are swarmed by Nightmares. After getting rid of them, you have to stand in the doorway. While facing forward, there is a room on your left where you can find the poem.

This is a reference to a 2019 game known as Concrete Genie and how beautiful it was.

god of war ragnarok kvasir poems kratos fighting a boss

8th Poem – Celestial Construct

Location : Alfheim – The Barrens

You can find the 8th poem inside the Giant Skeleton in the Barrens area. Enter the mouth and go up using the wall. After going through it, you will face to face a lot of enemies. After defeating them, on the east side of the room, there is a wall that you can use to climb up. You will find a legendary chest with the artifact sitting beside it.

This poem is a reference to the game Astro’s Playroom that comes pre-installed on every PS5.

9th Poem – Upon Pursuing a Place Not Marked on Maps

Location : Vanaheim – The Southern Wilds

You have to go to the back side of the marketplace and go to the upper walkway by climbing up. Then you have to two left turns and you will come across a couple of wooden walkways. In the end, you need to jump to the left side through the gap. Continue moving forward, knock down the shield on the left side and drop down to the ground and collect your artifact.

This is a reference to the Uncharted series, which is one of the most beloved PlayStation series.

10th Poem – Trip

Location : Alfheim – The Forbidden Sands

In order to get this poem, you first need to complete The Reckoning which is the main quest. At the entrance of The Forbidden Sands, you need to head to the northeast side under the rock. You will see an elven tower on the right side, climb the tower and claim the poem.

This poem is a reference to Sony’s 2012 game Journey which was critically acclaimed worldwide.

11th Poem – Eastern Specter

Location : Vanaheim – The Sinkholes

After completing the Creatures of Prophecy which is the main quest, you can claim this artifact. There is a wall next to the gateway right at the entrance. You need to go through the tunnels, kill the Crag Jaw and go to the north-western corner. There you will find a Red Fungi Bramble blocking the path. Use Blazing Surge and Hex Bubble combo to destroy it. After going through the gap, head left, move up the stairs and there’s the artifact.

This is a reference to another amazing PS Exclusive Ghost of Tsushima.

god of war ragnarok kvasir poems boss fight

12th Poem – An Organization: In The Future

Location : Vanaheim – The Jungle

You can claim this artifact in the nighttime only and you can change the daytime through a Celestial Altar. Head to the south side of the altar and then you need to cross over to the other side. But how you reach the other side varies.

If you haven’t released the dam yet, then you need to use the rock bridge to cross over and you need to do it at night time.

If the dam is released, then simply use a boat to cross over. You don’t need to come at night time and thus can be easily done during the day too. After getting to the other side, go through the tunnels, and climb the wall on the left. Once across, you will find the artifact on the back right side.

This is a reference to the technologically advanced battles in the PS4 exclusive The Order 1886. It had cinema-level graphics and looked like a movie.

13th Poem – Sanguinity

Location : Svartalfheim – The Applecore

To get this artifact, you need to complete the quest, The Applecore in Svartalfheim. After completing this quest, you need to return to Applecore. For doing so, take the ferry to the Sverd Sands in the northwest. You will find an elevator that’ll take you back to Applecore. You then have to create a shortcut using the Rope Frame. Go through the zipline and continue walking north through the tunnel.

After taking the corner, you need to climb up the wall using the newly found equipment in the main quest. You will see a boulder at the top that you have to destroy and the artifact will be present in front of you.

This poem is a reference to the highly regarded Bloodborne which is still considered by some as the best game of 2015.

14th Poem – The Dead Do Not Ride

Location : Midgard – The Oarsmen

This artifact is present inside a Giant’s boat. You can’t just go inside but need to climb back up and kill the Stalker. Then you need to pull the chain to move the boat, come down and open the gate to the starting area. There is a wall on the left side of the chest, climb up to the top and you will find the artifact alongside a coffin.

This is a reference to the game Days Gone and the use of motorcycles.

All of these Kvasir Poems in God of War Ragnarok are really great easter eggs that make exploring the game more enjoyable. These poems pay homage to some of the best PlayStation games. Sony has made games that refer to each other but not in a poetic way. So, the poetry of the Kvasir Poems is what makes them so special and worthwhile for PlayStation fans.

How God of War Ragnarok's Kvasir Poetry References Other PS Exclusives

God of War Ragnarok has a ton of collectibles to find, and its Kvasir Poetry books reference a ton of other first-party PlayStation games.

Warning: This article contained MINOR spoilers for God of War Ragnarok

Easter eggs have always played a fun role in the God of War franchise, whether it's developer in-jokes, references to the fan community, or references to other pieces of pop culture. Despite its serious tones, its authenticity to the Norse mythology source material, and its emphasis on deep character development, God of War Ragnarok still has plenty of Easter eggs for fans on the hunt, with some of the best coming from the game's Kvasir Poetry.

Much like its 2018 predecessor, God of War Ragnarok is jam-packed with collectibles and trinkets that the player can grab along their journey. While some of these collectibles reference some Norse mythology deep-cuts , and some others act as callbacks to the previous Greek-inspired games in the series, the Kvasir Poetry range of collectibles takes a different approach. Cleverly hidden behind some tongue-in-cheek titles, these poems are actually clear references to some of Sony's most beloved first-party titles, ranging from Uncharted to Dreams .

Every Sony Game Referenced in God of War Ragnarok's Kvasir Poetry

The first Kvasir poem that players will find in God of War Ragnarok is titled "The Sunrise of Nothingness," which can be found in Svartalfheim. One of the longer poems in the game, this one describes "Creatures of metal," that are "brought to their knees" by a warrior with "hair, red as blood" and her "origins, hidden." This poem is clearly a reference to Guerilla Games' Horizon series . The second Kvasir poem is also hidden in Svartalfheim, and is titled "Large Society Ground Orb, The Performance." A hilariously awkward title, this poem references MLB: The Show, with lines discussing "Nine warriors strong," who are ready to hit the orb with their "branches," all while "spectators stand." The poem "Sanguinity" can also be found in the Dwarven homeland, with lines like "Inject and deflect," "Slash and cry," and "The moon grows crimson" all being obvious references to Bloodborne .

Two more Kvasir poems can be found in Svartalfheim, one referencing a Naughty Dog game, and the other an Insomniac Games title. The first, titled "We Who Remain, Part the Second," is an immediately obvious reference to The Last of Us Part 2 , cemented by lines that read "When disease rots your body," "the bearded, cruel father," and "his surrogate daughter." The poem, "Tool and Bang," on the other hand references Ratchet and Clank , with lines like "Steel and fur, unlikely friends," and "Saving world after world."

There are another four Kvasir poems to be found in Alfheim, with the first being a reference to Hideo Kojima's Death Stranding . Titled "Afterlife Abandonment," this poem is a list of items and things associated with Death Stranding , including "Stick, rope," "Baby, crying," and "Skin, handprint." Another poem, "Visions After Rest," references the user creation game Dreams , with a line that reads "Among these fanciful realms, lie endless creation." The graffiti game Concrete Genie also gets its own poem, titled "Spirits Within Walls," with an opening line that mentions "A gentle boy and his brush." Ghost of Tsushima also crops up in a short poem titled "Eastern Spectre." The final poem in Alfheim, named "Celestial Construct," is an Astro's Playroom Easter egg, with a line that reads "Guide your metal friend with care."

Vanaheim is also home to a bunch of Kvasir poems, including "Upon Pursuing a Place Not Marked on Maps," a clear reference to Uncharted that describes a hero with "pluck," "wit," and his "ancestor's ring." The next poem, "Trip" references the highly influential Journey , mentioning "long scarves" that act as a "tether" between two characters. The poem "An Organization: In the Future" references Sony's PS4 launch exclusive The Order: 1886 , mentioning "Sticks spouting fire," and "The blood wolf's ire." Midgard is home to just one Kvasir poem, titled "The Dead Do Not Ride," which references another somewhat disappointing Sony title, Days Gone , with a line referring to "Horses of steel."

God of War Ragnarok is available on PS4 and PS5.

God of war ragnarok poems pay tribute to 14 playstation exclusives; here’s what each one represents.

trip god of war poem

Very early on in God of War Ragnarok, you’ll come across collectibles in the form of poems that are written by Kvasir, a god who has traveled across the realms to spread his teachings. Interesting, if you pay close attention to each of these poems, you’ll realize that they aren’t referring to anything in the God of War universe, but rather to a number of exclusive titles that have released for the PlayStation for the last decades. We manage to find all the God of War Ragnarok poems, which you can view below.

Warning , this post contains some minor spoilers for God of War Ragnarok. While it doesn’t discuss anything relating to the game’s story, these collectibles may be considered to be spoiler. Because of that, we recommend you playthrough the game and come back to this post after to get a better understanding as to what these references are.

Do mind that some of these references may be incorrect, so if there is a game that better matches the description, please let us know.

God of War Ragnarok Poems and Which PlayStation Game They’re Referring To:

Guerilla Games’ Horizon Series – The Sunrise of Nothingness

trip god of war poem

A good hint that this is referring to the Horizon series is the “creature of metal” and the reference of a girl with red hair. That girl is of course Alloy, and those metal creatures are the robotic dinosaurs.

Sony San Diego Studios’ MLB The Show – Large Society Ground Orb, The Performance

trip god of war poem

I’m not a big baseball fan myself, so this one ended up being tougher to figure out. The dead giveaway is the ball shape image on the book that looks like a baseball. Orb in the air, meaning ball being thrown, and a branch in hand is a baseball bat.

Naughty Dog’s The Last of Us – We Who Remain, Part The Second

trip god of war poem

The title is of the poem makes it very clear that this is talking about The Last of Us Part 2, with the bearded, cruel father being Joel, and surrogate daughter being Ellie.

Insomniacs Games’ Ratchet and Clank – Tool and Bang

trip god of war poem

As if this one even needs to be explained. You can see both Ratchet and Clank on the cover.

Kojima Production’s Death Stranding – Afterlife Abandonment

trip god of war poem

Handprint, baby. Death, beach. Bomb, piss. All related to Death Stranding. Plus, the image on the book is America.

Media Molecule’s Dreams – Visions After Rest

trip god of war poem

A vision after rest is a dream. The poem mentions Imps, which can also be seen on the cover.

Pixelopus’s Concrete Genie – Spirits Within Walls

trip god of war poem

This one threw me off as I wouldn’t exactly call Concrete Genie as massive PlayStation title, Nonetheless, it’s nice seeing one of the platform’s smaller title’s being referenced.

Team ASOBI’s Astro Bots – Celestial Construct

trip god of war poem

The image on the boot is clearly one of Astro Bot, but I think the poem is directly specific to Astro Bot Rescue as it speaks of immersing yourself in a new dimension, which for those who don’t know, Astro Bot Rescue is a VR game.

Naughty Dog’s Uncharted – Upon Pursuing A Place Not Marked on Maps

trip god of war poem

Interesting, this is the longest poem that Kvasir wrote. When you read it, it becomes clear that it’s talking about Nathan Drake and his adventures throughout the Uncharted series.

ThatGameCompany’s Journey – Trip

trip god of war poem

Trip, journey, get it right?

Sucker Punch’s Ghost of Tsushima – Eastern Spector

trip god of war poem

The title makes a lot of sense once you realize the the book features a image of the mask from the game.

Ready at Dawn’s The Order 1886 – An Organization: In The Future

trip god of war poem

The book features the very same insignia used by The Order in The Order 1886, with the poem talking about wolves, and even downright saying ready at dawn.

Japan Studio and Fromsoftware’s Bloodborne – Sanguinity

trip god of war poem

This is the only one I am not 100% sure about. If someone else has a better game that fits, please correct me, but I do believe this one is talking about Bloodborne. Fans should be familiar with the concept of killing and dying, as well as thinking and reflecting. Crimson moon, a town filled with mad people? Sounds like Bloodborne to me.

Sony Bend Studo’s Days Gone – The Dead Do Not Ride

trip god of war poem

Finally, the last one. If I could solely guess on the book’s cover, I probably wouldn’t have a clue, but reading it, it’s clear this is Days Gone. Horse of Steel is a motorcycle, and the brothers is obviously a nod to the brothers that star in the game. The rest is pretty obvious once you figure out that small bit.

In The Dead Do Not Ride , the last line is, “And yesterday’s gone”, which basically just says the title; “…day’s gone”. Days Gone.

Also, before the game was announced, the Director confirmed that the game was titled “Dead Don’t Ride” before being changed to “Days Gone.”

jimharrisoniii3

Yeah I wasn’t so sure about the bloodborne one because I never played it but it does sound like it from what I’ve seen. The only one that comes to figure out was dreams. I know I seen the Imps before but I couldn’t guess where. My final guess was Kena.
