ISLAND EXPLORER
Get in touch with traditional customs and soak in the Mediterranean waves on the sun-soaked Greek Isles onboard the best Greece and Greek Isles cruises.
VIVA LA VILLAGE LIFE
Santorini only has villages, not towns, and these diverse areas provide a firsthand glimpse into Greek life. Because the whole island is less than 28 square miles, it's not difficult to take in most of the sights from the looming cliffs and still have time for shopping, eating and some down time on the Aegean Sea.
DIVE TO THE DEPTHS
Greece's underwater worlds complete with seahorses, eels and plenty of fish are almost too perfect not to grab your scuba gear and take the plunge. Santorini has an excellent dive center that will get you into the water fast with instructors who will guide you through the warm Mediterranean waters.
THE THRILL OF THE CLIMB
Another great thing to do while in Greece are the daily tours of the volcano Nea Kameni, which is located on an uninhabited island close to Santorini, begin with a short boat ride, followed by a climb up to the volcanic craters that takes just over an hour. The tour then takes in hot springs and mud baths, where you can recharge your batteries.
UNEARTH THE PAST
Go on an archaeological exploration of the ancient world's most renowned sites, from Bronze Age excavations to temples dedicated to the Greek gods with your cruise to Greece and Greek Isles.
ANCIENT ADVENTURES
The largest of the Greek islands, Crete is both a beach paradise and home to some of the country's premier archaeological finds and attractions. Visit Greece and tour the Palace at Knossos, built by the Minoans more than 4,000 years ago, before exploring the Archaeological Museum, where the treasures of Knossos — including sculptures, jewelry and mosaics — are exhibited.
Excavations of Akrotiri on Santorini Island date back to the Manoan Bronze Age, where the settlement was preserved in ash following a volcanic eruption in 1627 B.C. The site is still being excavated today, and you can witness history firsthand by exploring the vast settlement and the enormous ongoing archaeological dig.
GUIDED BY GODS
Delos is one of the most important archaeological sites in the world, and it's also the mythological birthplace of the sun god, Apollo, and his twin, Artemis, goddess of the moon and the hunt. You can spend hours exploring the ruins and learning about Greek history on the most sacred place of worship in Ancient Greece. Even the nearby old port has its own charm, with an amphitheater, sanctuary and various dwellings waiting to be explored.

You'll find excellent weather on the Greek islands throughout the year, but the best time to visit is between April and October, when temperatures range from the low 70s to the mid 80s, and the sun is nearly guaranteed.
Countless ruins like the Acropolis and the Akrotiri overlook the world-class beaches that are around nearly every corner on the islands. Whether you're more interested in a private cove on Zakynthos or a central beach with a party scene on Mykonos, the options are limitless.

Feast on feta me meli, baked feta wrapped in filo, or choriatiki, greek salad with tons of vegetables. While meat such as lamb, pork and veal are found everywhere, especially in gyros or keftethes (meatballs), fish and seafood are the undisputed stars, due to proximity to the sea.
SAY CHEESE!

Meat pies filled with lamb, veal or sometimes pork are called kreatopita, and they are cooked with wine and tomatoes, garlic, cinnamon and nutmeg, creating a medley of flavors. There's also a variety called pastitsio that combines pasta and meat.
FLEX YOUR MUSSELS
Your choices are endless when it comes to fresh seafood prepared according to local tradition. Try a simple shrimp and pasta dish, or go wild with octapodi kokkinisto, octopus in tomato sauce during your Greece cruise.

Athens Day Cruise to 3 Majestic Islands Aegina, Hydra, Poros
The Athens one-day cruise to 3 Islands: Hydra, Poros, Aegina is one of the most memorable and unique experiences you will have in Greece.
The cruise ship sails early in the morning (8.15 am) towards either Poros – Hydra – Aegina or Hydra – Aegina – Poros. Keep in mind that the itinerary and the duration of stay on each island cannot change and are not customizable.
Highlights of the Athens Day Cruise to 3 Majestic Islands Aegina, Hydra, Poros
- The island of Hydra, which is one of the most picturesque islands you have ever seen. It is protected by UNESCO.
- The natural landscape of Poros with its shores and coves
- The hospitable atmosphere of Aegina and its tasteful pistachios!
Description of the cruise from Athens to Aegina, Hydra and Poros islands
The cruise will start early in the morning. You will be received at the Port of Piraeus by the hostess and a warm welcome from the crew of the ship and you can either enjoy a soft drink at the lounge or stay at the open deck to watch the departure.
Soon after the departure, you will need to assemble to the main lounge where you will be given all the information you will need for the islands and your stay on the ship during the cruise.
The green island of Poros
Two hours after the departure the cruise will take you to the island of Poros , which is the smallest of the islands you will be visiting, but also the greenest, with the most interesting coastline.
Poros is separated from the mainland of the Peloponnese Peninsula by a narrow strait that creates a truly unique landscape. The leisure time in Poros is approximately 50 minutes and you have ample time to walk down its small streets and take as many pictures as you like.
Hydra, the island with no cars
Continuing the cruise, you will be arriving at the port of Hydra , almost an hour and 15 minutes later. We recommend you to be on the deck to watch the arrival because the island of Hydra is amphitheatrically shaped and offers a unique view when entering the port.
The landscape of the island of Hydra is dramatic and is adorned by the traditional mansions and stone houses that reflect the richness of the island and its old citizens. You will notice right away that there are no cars on the island. Indeed, no vehicles are allowed, so you can only walk, take a bicycle, a donkey, or hire a water taxi to visit one of the more remote villages of the island!
Hydra is the ideal island to stroll; beautifully paved streets, quite many stairs, and a truly captivating seaside promenade. This is probably the island you will adore due to its uniqueness. You will be staying for an hour and a half in Hydra and when you return on the ship you will have a nicely prepared lunch that will give you a full idea of what the Greek cuisine tastes like.
Aegina, the largest of the Saronic islands
Two hours later you will be arriving at Aegina, where you can choose what you want to do. Aegina is the largest of the islands and has a number of interesting sites to explore.
Classical tour on Aegina (optional)
There is a guided bus tour on the island that takes you to the Temple of Athena Aphaia , one of the best-preserved temples in Greece, which is built on a lovely hill and offers spectacular views to the entire island, as well as the Saronic Gulf and even Piraeus. On the way back to Aegina’s port you will make a short stop to the Byzantine Church of St Nectarius.
Panoramic tour on Aegina (optional)
The second option you have is the Panoramic Tour that will take you across the island to get an overview of the natural landscape. You will not get to see the archaeological site with this tour though. The tour will end with a stop by the seaside where you can enjoy a small meal with Greek meze dishes and ouzo!
NOTE. You can buy the tickets for both optional shore trips on board so that you do not need to worry about it.
When you return to the cruise ship, do not think that the cruise is over. The best is yet to come! The crew of the ship along with dancers and singers will dress in their original Greek costumes and offer you a Greek Traditional Folk Show on board, to animate you during the return to the Port of Piraeus. The main goal is to feel rejuvenated with this cruise, but also entertained!
The cruise from Athens to Poros, Hydra, and Aegina is by far the most popular cruise in Greece: elegant boats, delicious food, live music + dance, and a sea of happy faces from all over the world on a wonderful voyage to three Greek islands. Let’s sail together! You only need to bring your camera… we’ll bring a good mood!

Greek Island Cruise Highlights
Once-in-a-lifetime experiences.
There is no shortage of unforgettable experiences to be had in Greece. Its seascapes and cityscapes are wondrous, from the mighty ruins of the Acropolis to the buzzing, modern city center of Athens. Visit an olive farm in Crete, or embark on a tour of Mykonos Town’s organic wineries. Or, take an intimate, exclusive cooking lesson on how to make local favorites in Santorini’s main square, right in the middle of it all.
Ancient History
Greece is a world-renowned destination for history buffs. Stroll through the Acropolis and marvel at human achievement, or visit the Museum of Cycladic Art to study Aegean and Cypriot artifacts. Examine the 400-year-old remains of a town buried under volcanic ash outside of Santorini. Explore the historic forts of Corfu, or hop on a boat ride to Delos, said to be the birthplace of Apollo.
Natural Wonders
Discover Elafonisi Beach, a paradise of pink, powdery sand and shallow waters off the island of Crete. Take an unforgettable cruise through the impressive Corinth Canal on a shore excursion in Athens. Stand in awe at the base of Mount Olympus, Greece’s highest mountain and the fabled home of the Greek gods. In Zakynthos, don’t miss a visit to the awe-inspiring Shipwreck Beach, which often tops best-of lists.
Featured Ports
Santorini, Greece
Travelers flock to Santorini for its cobalt-roofed homes, friendly locals, and fine local wine. On this crescent-shaped island, soak up the sun at black-sand beaches like Perissa, or spend a day at the Santorini Caldera, one of the only places in the world to see submerged remnants of an erupted volcano. Sample Greek wines at family-owned wineries dotting the Aegean coast, and take the time to marvel at the incredible panoramas all around you.
Mykonos, Greece
Mykonos is the quintessential Mediterranean beach destination. Choose your favorite to spend the day on, or book a sailing excursion to go beach hopping. Take a day trip beyond Mykonos to the nearby island of Delos, an uninhabited archeological site said to be the birthplace of Greek gods. Experience an authentic side of the island with a home-cooking class, where you’ll sample and prepare delicious local specialties.
Athens, Greece
To visit the capital of Greece is to take a trip back in time, whether you’re exploring the narrow streets of the Plaka District or hiking the Acropolis for well-earned views of the Parthenon. After a day of exploration, pop into a taverna for Mediterranean meze and a cold beer.

A beautiful small island but so large in history and specificities that distinguishes among so many.
The role of island and the people during the revolution of 1821 by the Ottoman Empire and modern history makes Hydra one of the most popular touristic destinations.
Elegance, tradition and majesty. The architecture of the island has kept until our days, intact and inviolable by modern interventions, thanks to the sacrifices of all the Hydrants, who religiously keep this unique legacy that surrendered by their ancestors.
The absence of any wheelset from the island, it is still uniqueness within so many others we meet in Hydra.
It is joy of God to walk carefree on cobblestone streets, enjoying the splendid mansions – forts, built by the great Hydrants ancestors, discover at every step churches full of history and seeing the unique blue sea, away from noises and normal smells.
For all these we travel you to this beautiful island and we promise you unforgettable moments full of relaxation and the feeling of free.
Approach at Porosby ship, from far we see standing in the highest hilltop the History Clock, between prickly and pines. From here the view of the harbor and the opposite coasts is excellent. Built in 1927, it’s visible from everywhere and is the jewel of the city.
Poros is the island of peace, romance and relaxation. It is overgrown with pine trees which reach the rugged shores or the sandy beaches.
The people of Poros are like all islanders in Greece, spontaneous, decent and hospitable. The beach houses are large neoclassic in opposite with the two-floor houses at Brinia, Mylos, Pounta and Kasteli. The first houses were built in 1463 in the area around the Clock.
In the center of the town are located the Town Hall, the Archaeological Museum, the Exhibition Hall and Cultural events.
Among the narrow streets of Poros and the white houses, full of boungainvilleas, are found many taverns. Among the pier, the visitor sees lot of touristic shops, cafes, taverns and lot of bars with Greek and foreign music.
Leaving from the town Northwest is Progym, the first residence of Othona . There todays is the grading and the coaching of sailors. After school stadium a small canal separates Sfairia from Kalavria.
After the canal is the settlement that was first inhabited by refugees from M.Asia. Finishing the settlement and following the winding road among big pine trees, we arrive at the chapel of Agia Zoni, which is celebrated on July 2.Locatel between a canyon with trees and streams. Next we meet the chapel of Prophet Elias and finally the Palaces, in which is the Temple of Poseidon.
Today Poros with its traditional color, charm, cosmopolitan life and modern facilities is the ideal holiday resort.
The mythological tradition wants Aegina to have taken its name from the nymph Aegina. The nymph Aegina was daughter of Asopos River and Metopis. The island before the arrival of nymph named different such as (Herodotus, Pindaros, Stravonas) Inoni, Inona or Inopiia. Zeus did with Aegina a son Aeacus, who from the wrath of Hera found alone on the island and therefore begged his father to transform ants in humans. That’s how Aegina came with its first residents, the Myrmidons.
The temple of Aphaia exists on the top of pine covered hill in the northeast part of Aegina. It is the greatest monument that survives from the sanctuary, which was dedicated to Aphaia and seems to have built in a place that there was cult activity since Mycenaean age.
Pausanias mentioned the myth Aphaia and identifies her with the Cretan goddess Vritomarti-Diktinna. The researchers believe that this goddess was adored in the temple. The Aphaia considered as the daughter of Zeus and land Crete. There were Diktina adored, as showed that had similarities with goddess Artemis.
According to legend, the nymph Aphaia persecuted by the Cretan king Minos and in trying to escape jumped into the sea, where a fisherman rescued her and took her to Aegina. From there disappeared (Aphaia =Disappeared) in the place where now stands the sanctuary.
When the atmosphere is clear, from the temple we see the Temple of Poseidon at Sounio and the Acropolis of Athens. The tree temples cobinate one triangle (the holy triangle of ancient times).
The church of St. Nektarios
In this grand Christian Byzantine church, is the silver tomb with the relics of St. Nektarios. Opposite the monastery can still be seen the ruins of the old capital, the medieval capital of the island where the local population were looking for shelter during pirate raids.

The romantic charm of Santorini is one of the most celebrated Greek islands in the Aegean. Here you will have the opportunity to explore the magical villages of Fira and Oia and photograph the whitewashed houses and blue-blue-domed churches perched on caldera cliffs. With extraordinary from an elevated position, this idyllic island is the perfect location to watch the sunset.

Best Greece cruises: Top 5 ships sailing the Greek isles
From ancient mythology to wine and olives, there's a lot to love about Greece . There's something magical about the contrast between the deep-blue waters of the Aegean Sea and the ancient ruins and white buildings found on the Greek islands.
The best Greece cruises offer a well-rounded mix of islands and key Greece destinations: Athens for its ruins, Santorini for its blue-roofed churches, Mykonos for its shopping and nightlife, and Rhodes for its palace and charming cobblestone streets. You might even luck out and snag a visit to places like Turkey or Montenegro, too.
If you're not sure which ships to consider, here's a list of the best cruises to Greece for different kinds of travelers.
Note: Prices were accurate at the time of publication; they're subject to change without notice.

Best Greek isles cruises for families: Disney Dream
Disney Cruise Line is ideal for families. If a Disney cruise to Greece with kids sounds appealing, Disney Dream is the ship that will take you there.
The vessel isn't the line's newest, but it's also not the oldest, and you'll still find plenty to do on board. The 2,500-passenger ship's small size means it's easy to learn your way around. Even better, Disney Dream is typically more affordable than the line's newest vessels.
Dream offers jaw-dropping entertainment and daily character appearances, which means your children likely won't be bored on the ship. Its magical kids clubs feature a replica of Andy's room from "Toy Story" and the Millennium Falcon's cockpit from "Star Wars." (Expect surprise visits from R2-D2 or a squad of stormtroopers.)
Also, Greece is wrapped in tons of ancient history to spark your family's imagination. For example, in Athens, you might choose to take a guided tour of the Acropolis, followed by a "day in the life of an archaeologist" experience, where you'll search for treasures in a faux archaeological dig.
If the kids prefer something sportier, they might enjoy an excursion that takes visitors to the Panathenaic Stadium for a tour and a talk about the first Olympic games of the modern era.
Disney Dream sails five-, seven- and nine-night voyages from $322 per person, per night, for a windowless inside cabin. Some itineraries sail round-trip from Rome, while others cruise one-way between Rome and Barcelona with calls on Athens, Mykonos and other ports in Greece.

Best adults-only Greece cruises for party animals: Resilient Lady
If you enjoy a lively megaship party atmosphere but you don't want an environment that's overrun with kids, Virgin Voyages ' Resilient Lady will likely be the best Greece cruise option for you.
Although Virgin's Greece itineraries are pretty standard, its onboard experience is what sets it apart in the region.
The adults-only ship combines a casual vibe with a ramped-up nightlife. You'll find passengers dressed like mermaids, crew dressed like drag queens and performers that more accurately represent a cross-section of real life than those whom you'll find on most other lines' vessels.
As part of what just might be the best entertainment at sea , nighttime shows run the gamut from lounge singers and seemingly impromptu atrium dance parties to secret below-deck visits to the "crew bar" for a drink. There's also Scarlet Night — a rave-like pool-deck dance party where everyone wears red.
If that's not wild enough for you, there's also an app that lets you order Champagne to wherever you are on board, free fitness classes that encourage you to dress up in your '80s best and even a tattoo parlor so you can make some bad decisions.
Resilient Lady sails seven-, 10- and 11-night cruises from Athens, starting at $145 per person, per night, for an inside cabin. The voyages feature a mix of stops in Greece (including Santorini and Rhodes and an overnight in Mykonos), Croatia, Turkey and Montenegro, depending on the specific itinerary you choose.

Best budget-friendly Greece cruises: Rhapsody of the Seas
Want to check out Greece but have limited funds? Although you'll have to factor in potentially expensive flights to Europe to board, a voyage on Royal Caribbean 's Explorer of the Seas could be right up your alley.
The vessel is one of Royal Caribbean's oldest ships — it debuted in 2000 — but that doesn't mean you won't find fun onboard activities such as trivia, pool games, nightly theater performances, game shows, dancing and live music.
The best part if you're on a budget is the price. You can snag sailings of six, seven or eight nights from just $85 per person, per night, for an inside cabin. These cruises sail either between Rome and Athens or between Barcelona and Athens, or round-trip from Ravenna (the port for Bologna, Italy). Voyages include calls on Athens, Santorini and Mykonos, as well as ports in Cyprus and Turkey.

Best small-ship luxury Greece cruises: Windstar's Wind Star
Windstar Cruises ' namesake, Wind Star, is a 148-passenger masted sailing yacht that offers a special Greek islands experience because it calls on some of the area's smaller ports in addition to Athens.
The ship is great for sailing aficionados. Because of its small size, it can visit smaller ports that larger vessels can't access. (Think Monemvasia, a town carved into rock, and Gythion, where you'll find caves and lovely beaches.)
Also, Wind Star is an upscale ship, which means you'll find elevated dining and service on board. All cabins offer at least one window. When you purchase an all-inclusive fare, Wi-Fi, gratuities and alcohol are rolled into the price.
Among other itineraries, the vessel sails weeklong cruises between Athens and Rome that call on Monemvasia and Gythion in Greece, as well as several ports in Italy. Rates start from $300 per person, per night, for an outside cabin.

Best locally based Greek isles cruises: Celestyal Journey
Celestyal Cruises is a line you don't hear about too often, but it's based in Greece, which means it has a unique perspective on Greek island sailings.
If you're looking for a cruise vacation that's full of local Greek flair, check out the brand's Celestyal Journey. The ship isn't new, but it's new to the line. Following an extensive refurbishment, and its Celestyal debut in late 2023, it's the youngest member of the line's fleet.
Holding about 1,200 passengers, Celestyal Journey is small enough that you'll still receive a personalized experience but large enough to offer a multitude of onboard amenities. Enjoy yourself at the spa and fitness center, eight bars, seven restaurants, a chef's table experience and two pools. The ship offers 630 cabins, including 149 balcony cabins, 120 junior suites and 28 full-fledged suite accommodations.
Itineraries offered by Celestyal Journey range from four to 28 nights, departing from either Athens or Thessaloniki. Most voyages include calls on well-known Greek ports like Santorini, Rhodes and Mykonos, while longer sailings also venture to places in Turkey and Montenegro. Prices start from $89 per person, per night, for an inside cabin.
Bottom line
The best cruises to Greece combine a mix of fascinating destinations with a ship that fits your budget and travel style. If you're still unsure which cruise to choose, check with a knowledgeable cruise travel agent who can help you sort through the options.

U.S. tourist faces 12 years in prison after taking ammunition to Turks and Caicos
An Oklahoma man faces up to 12 years in prison on a Caribbean island after customs officials found ammunition in his luggage.
Ryan Watson traveled to Turks and Caicos with his wife, Valerie, to celebrate his 40th birthday on April 7. They went with two friends who had also turned 40.
The vacation came to an abrupt end when airport staff members found a zip-close bag containing bullets in the couple's carry-on luggage. Watson said it was hunting ammunition he had accidentally brought with him — but under a strict law in Turks and Caicos, a court may still impose a mandatory 12-year sentence.
"They were hunting ammunition rounds that I use for whitetail deer," Watson told NBC Boston in an interview conducted last week that aired after their first court appearance Tuesday.
"I recognized them, and I thought, 'Oh, man, what a bonehead mistake that I had no idea that those were in there,'" he said.
The couple were arrested and charged with possession of ammunition. Authorities seized their passports and explained the penalties they faced.
Valerie Watson said in the interview: "When I heard that, I immediately was terrified, because I was like we can't both be in prison for 12 years. We have kids at home, and this is such an innocent mistake."
The charges against her were dropped, and she returned home to Oklahoma City on Tuesday after the court hearing to be reunited with her two young children.
"Our goal is to get Ryan home, because we can’t be a family without Dad," she said.
The couple also spoke about the financial burden of a much longer-than-planned trip. "This is something that we may never recover from," Ryan Watson said.
The U.S. Embassy in the Bahamas issued a warning to travelers in September about a law that strongly prohibits possession of firearms or ammunition in Turks and Caicos, an overseas British territory southeast of the Bahamas that is a popular vacation spot.
It said: "We wish to remind all travelers that declaring a weapon in your luggage with an airline carrier does not grant permission to bring the weapon into TCI [Turks and Caicos Islands] and will result in your arrest."
The embassy added: "If you bring a firearm or ammunition into TCI, we will not be able to secure your release from custody."
The embassy and the government in Turks and Caicos did not immediately respond to requests for comment.
The same thing happened to another American, Bryan Hagerich, of Pennsylvania, who was arrested after ammunition was found in his luggage before he tried to board a flight out of Turks and Caicos in February. He said he accidentally left it in his bag.
Hagerich was on a family vacation with his wife and two young children but has now been in the country for 70 days. He spent eight days in prison before he posted bail.
"It’s incredibly scary. You know, you just don’t know what the next day may bring — you know, what path this may take," Hagerich told NBC Boston.
"You know, it’s certainly a lot different than packing your bags and going away with your family for a few days. It’s been the worst 70 days of my life," he said.
Hagerich, once a professional baseball player, was drafted by the Florida Marlins in the MLB 2007 June amateur draft from the University of Delaware.
His case goes to trial May 3.

Royal Caribbean has stopped ships from docking at a private island port in Haiti due to ongoing violence in the region.
The cruise line canceled ships from docking at that port through May, but last week Royal Caribbean modified cruise schedules to avoid the port throughout the summer and into September, according to a post on the Royal Caribbean blog.
“Guests booked on cruises in the summer and early fall are getting notifications from Royal Caribbean that their visits to Labadee have been canceled,” the blog post stated . “On Tuesday (April 23), cruisers began to share updates they received from Royal Caribbean that their itineraries have been updated to drop Labadee and replace it with another port or a sea day.”
Labadee is a beach area owned by Royal Caribbean located on a peninsula in northern Haiti. It is barricaded from the rest of the country and has its own security force.
Between January and March of this year, more than 2,500 people were killed or injured due to violence across Haiti, specifically in the capital of Port-au-Prince.
Royal Caribbean International did not formally announce any changes on its website. Royal Caribbean Blog is not connected with Royal Caribbean International and is just a site for fans of the cruise liner.
However, the blog reposted a notice from the cruise liner about the itinerary changes without mentioning the violence.
“Due to the continuing situation in Haiti, we’ll now visit Grand Turk, Turks & Caicos, instead of Labadee, Haiti,” the notice reads. “We’re sorry for the change – your safety is our top priority. Nevertheless, we’re excited to visit a new port with you!”
This decision by Royal Caribbean comes after the U.S. issued a warning to tourists to avoid traveling to Haiti at this time due to an increase in gang-related violence.
