BMW M TwinPower Turbo inline 6-cylinder petrol engine.

The BMW M TwinPower Turbo inline 6-cylinder petrol engine features superior power delivery and the striking characteristic M engine sound. Two mono-scroll turbochargers, direct High-Precision Injection, fully variable valve control and variable camshaft control offer high performance.

M-specific suspension.

With its large track width and broadly flared wheel arches, the suspension is optimised specifically for M. It offers high performance handling and increases the performance and response of the new M3 Competition Touring.

BMW M xDrive with Active M Differential offers high traction and driving dynamics for everyday driving, as well as at the racetrack. The M specific technology combines the typical agility of a rear-wheel drive with the control of an all-wheel drive. You can choose between the drive variants 4WD, 4WD Sport and – in DSC-off mode – 2WD.

M-specific design of the rear section.

The rear of the new BMW M3 Competition Touring is defined by the distinct rear bumper with diffuser and the twin tailpipes on either side.

M Carbon ceramic brake.

The M Carbon ceramic brake delivers braking power even more directly. The brake is non-corrosive and tolerates even more heat. It impresses with minimal wear and contributes to a lower vehicle weight, having a positive impact on agility and driving dynamics.

M Carbon exterior styling.

Optional M Carbon exterior styling underline the athletic elements of the vehicle. Spoiler elements in the front bumper and exterior mirror caps are made of carbon-fibre reinforced plastic (CFRP). The package is rounded off by a striking carbon-fibre diffuser insert at the rear.

M Carbon bucket seats. (Optional)

The M Carbon bucket seat with illuminated M3 logo combines the racing character of a bucket seat with the comfort of an M Sport seat. It is lighter, electrically adjustable and has visible carbon surfaces. The backrest and seat bolsters have cut-outs for multi-point belts and the head pad can be removed for driving with a helmet.

M STEERING WHEEEL.

The M leather steering wheel with red M Drive preset buttons guarantees a direct steering feel.

M CARBON BUCKET SEATS.

The optional M Carbon bucket seats provide optimum lateral support.

Rear diffuser, four-pipe M sport exhaust system and muscular wheel arches characterise the powerful rear of the BMW M2.

In the style of the BMW 2002, the headlights are implemented as individual units. The M kidney comes frameless in the BMW M2.

M LIGHT-ALLOY WHEELS.

Manufactured for performance: exclusively designed M light-alloy wheels double-spoke 930 M Jet Black.

PACKED WITH M POWER.

The M TwinPower Turbo inline 6-cylinder petrol engine features dynamic power delivery and the characteristic throaty M engine sound. Highly efficient technologies such as double VANOS, Valvetronic, high precision injection and a TwinScroll turbocharger provide excellent output. Between 2,650 and 5,870 rpm, the engine provides its maximum torque of 550 Nm and reaches its maximum output of 338 kW (460 hp) at a speed of 6,250 rpm. The 3.0-litre power unit differs only in a few details from that of the BMW M3 and M4 series.

460 hp is the maximum output of the M TwinPower Turbo inline-6-cylinder engine of the BMW M2.

TECHNICAL DETAILS.

Adaptive m suspension..

With the adaptive M suspension with variable shock absorber adjustment, the characteristics of the suspension can be individually adjusted – from comfortable to particularly sporty with pronounced agile handling. With Driving Experience Control, you can adapt the electronically controlled chassis quickly and easily to the road conditions and driving situation.

8-speed M Steptronic sport transmission.

The 8-speed M Steptronic Sport transmission with Drivelogic combines sportiness and comfort. The particularly fine increments between gears and the optional extremely rapid shifts facilitate optimum responsiveness. Its high level of driving comfort and fuel-efficient design are ideal for everyday driving. Particularly at high speeds, the eighth gear reduces engine speed, in turn decreasing both fuel consumption and engine noise. Sporty manual shifting is possible in S mode by using the M gear selector switch or the shift paddles on the steering wheel. In manual S mode, M Steptronic Sport transmission does not automatically shift up, so that the engine reaches max speeds when necessary. In this way, optimal use is made of the engine power, you can even shift at top speeds. It is also possible to shift down several gears. Via the Drivelogic function, the driver can select one of three shifting modes at the touch of a button: from efficient and comfortable, to sporty, to racetrack characteristics with extra-short shifting times and a highly sporty ride feeling.

M Sport brakes.

Thanks to its special material mix, the M Compound brakes achieve excellent deceleration values and very high stability – while reducing weight at the same time. The brake calipers in Red high-gloss with M logo give this high-performance brake system a distinctly sporty appearance.

Active M Differential.

The Active M Differential variably distributes the drive torque between the two rear wheels to optimise traction and driving stability during dynamic lane changing or accelerating out of curves, when making curves at high speeds or on roads with uneven surfaces, including on snow, gravel and ice. It even provides precise handling during high lateral acceleration. The constant, smooth adjustment of the differential lock leads to a more dynamic driving experience with improved vehicle control. Traction is optimised with the help of an electronically operated device that reduces the difference in revolution speed between the rear wheels. The system, which was developed for motor sports, is optimally connected to all the lateral dynamics control functions of the vehicle via an electronic control unit. It proactively provides the perfect use of locking action, neutralising even the finest differences in torque between the rear wheels – without the tendency to under-steer. Depending on the M driving dynamics settings, the spectrum ranges from traction-oriented to maximal driving dynamics and sporty characteristics. The Active M Differential provides optimal grip as well as great directional stability and perfect handling, and it converts virtually all of the engine's drive power into acceleration.

Integrated M specific braking system.

The integrated braking system slows the car down with great precision. This system brings together the brake activation, brake booster and braking control functions within a compact module. The required brake pressure is triggered exceptionally quickly and precisely using an electric actuator. Here, the integrated braking system is fitted in an M-specific version that presents the driver with two pedal feel settings, allowing them to choose between more comfort-oriented or very direct execution of brake pedal inputs in the M Setup menu.

M Drive Professional.

Whether track day or spontaneous drift session – M Drive Professional allows drivers of the new BMW M2 to set individual intervention thresholds for wheel slip limitation. The system is the perfect companion for trips with that extra portion of adrenaline. The M Drift Analyser help you to hunt for best times and the perfect drift angle, while the M TRACK mode and the ten-step M Traction Control allow for tailor-made drivability.

Woodcliff Lake, NJ – November 24, 2021 …2022 marks the 50th anniversary of the founding of BMW M GmbH. To help celebrate half-a-century of performance and racing cars from the iconic brand, U.S. customers who opt for a BMW M high-performance automobile (M3, M4, X3 M, etc.) with a production date from March 2022 will have their vehicle's front, rear and wheel hubs adorned with emblems inspired by the classic "BMW Motorsport" logo. The logo will be optionally available on BMW M performance models (M340i, M440i, X3 M40i, etc.). As an alternative to the conventional BMW emblem, it signals passion for racing and for the roots of the BMW M brand. This unique offer in the history of BMW M will be available for order from the end of January 2022.

In addition to the emblems, 50 iconic and historically significant BMW M paint finishes will be offered for selected models in the anniversary year 2022. Style-defining colors such as Dakar Yellow, Fire Orange, Daytona Violet, Macao Blue, lmola Red or Frozen Marina Bay Blue refer to the various eras of BMW M's 50-year history.

The BMW logo with the shifted semicircles in blue, violet and red was first used in 1973 on the racing cars of BMW Motorsport GmbH, which had been established a year before. In 1978 and with the debut of the BMW M1 the three-color stripes slanted to the right and leaning on the letter M followed. Even beyond the motorsport scene it became a trademark with particularly high recognition value and identification power.

The legendary BMW M1 was the only BMW M high-performance production vehicle to bear the historic motorsport emblem in addition to the logo with the three-color stripes. In both logos, the blue stands for BMW, while the red symbolizes racing and the violet expresses the connection between the two. Since then, the violet has given way to a dark blue, and BMW Motorsport GmbH has been operating under the name BMW M GmbH from 1993 till today. In its 50th year of existence, the company is enjoying more success than ever as the world market leader in the performance and high-performance automotive segment.

It’s safe to say BMW has been putting on quite the show for the M division’s 50 th anniversary, and one of the ways it’s celebrating the milestone is through a special exhibition at its museum . It’s been up and running since May 24 and will be held throughout the course of 2022. A new video from Evolve Automotive gives us a tour of the numerous gems all gathered under the same roof.

Regardless of preferences, there’s something for everyone. Highlights include the one-of-a-kind M8 E31 prototype , but also recent entries into the M family such as the M4 CSL. Of course, it wouldn’t be a proper celebration without the mid-engined M1 or some of the most illustrious race cars in the company’s history.

Speaking of the first-ever bespoke M car, the achingly beautiful M1 Hommage concept from 2008 is included in the exhibition, as are the more recent 3.0 CSL Hommage R and the Vision M Next. These three showcars give us hope the highly anticipated M4-based 3.0 CSL with a coachbuilt body will be a stunning machine once it’ll break cover before the end of the year.

Since we’re on the subject of cars that never made production, the BMW Turbo from 1972 is spreading its gullwing doors and shares the spotlight with a number of important race cars. For something completely different, the video also highlights the extra-long L7 by Karl Lagerfeld is showcased with its fancy Chestnut Brown Metallic over Gold Orange Metallic exterior paint.

As if all of these cars weren’t special enough, BMW also brought the elusive E34 M5 Convertible and the downright spectacular X5 Le Mans with its V12 engine. A peachy-colored Z3 roadster rocking a twelve-cylinder mill ends the 21-minute video tour and goes to show the M division has gone mad from time to time in the best way possible.

Say what you will about some of the decisions BMW has been taking lately, but it sure knows how to celebrate its past to remind us all why we fell in love with the brand in the first place.

iRacing 2024 BMW M Power Tour Underway

Can’t get out to the track this season and really want to some racing time? Go virtual! iRacing has begun its 10-week long BMW M Power Tour, a virtual-racig collaboration with BMW that features a variety of BMW M cars racing on top tracks. The event started in late April, but will go strong for several more weeks.

The BMW-exclusive racing series features five different BMW race cars and will feature races launching every two hours on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays.

BMW M is a staunch supporter of automotive gaming, with their website stating, “Since 2019, automotive gaming has been one of the pillars of the BMW M Motorsport program alongside works and customer racing. The motivation for entering this rapidly growing gaming segment was the huge potential offered by virtual experiences in the world of motorsport.”

BMW M Motorsport and iRacing expanded their successful cooperation in 2024 to include another exciting project: the BMW M Power Tour. The series is aimed at every member of the community of over 200,000 drivers and has been running for twelve weeks since March 2024. The racing events will be held on twelve of the most prestigious circuits in the motorsport world.

Platform:  iRacing Cars:  BMW M Hybrid V8, BMW M4 GT3, BMW Z4 GT3, BMW M4 GT4, BMW M8 GTE Race days: Tuesday, Wednsday and Thursday Format:  Warm-up (3 minutes) – qualifying (8 minutes/2 laps) – race (30 minutes)

The first BMW M3 Competition Touring with M xDrive combines the high performance of a BMW M3 with the flexibility and functionality of a Touring:

• Driving Dynamics

BMW M TwinPower Turbo inline 6-cylinder petrol engine.

The BMW M TwinPower Turbo inline 6-cylinder petrol engine features superior power delivery and the striking characteristic M engine sound. Two mono-scroll turbochargers, direct High-Precision Injection, fully variable valve control and variable camshaft control offer high performance.

M-specific suspension.

With its large track width and broadly flared wheel arches, the suspension is optimised specifically for M. It offers high performance handling and increases the performance and response of the M3 Competition Touring.

BMW M xDrive with Active M Differential offers high traction and driving dynamics for everyday driving, as well as at the racetrack. The M specific technology combines the typical agility of a rear-wheel drive with the control of an all-wheel drive. You can choose between the drive variants 4WD, 4WD Sport and – in DSC-off mode – 2WD.

M-specific design of the rear section.

The rear of the BMW M3 Competition Touring is defined by the distinct rear bumper with diffuser and the twin tailpipes on either side.

M Carbon ceramic brake.

The M Carbon ceramic brake delivers braking power even more directly. The brake is non-corrosive and tolerates even more heat. It impresses with minimal wear and contributes to a lower vehicle weight, having a positive impact on agility and driving dynamics.

M Carbon exterior styling.

Optional M Carbon exterior styling underline the athletic elements of the vehicle. Spoiler elements in the front bumper and exterior mirror caps are made of carbon-fibre reinforced plastic (CFRP). The package is rounded off by a striking carbon-fibre diffuser insert at the rear.

M Carbon bucket seats.

The optional M Carbon bucket seats with illuminated M3 logo combine the racing character of bucket seats with the comfort of M Sport seats. It is lighter, electrically adjustable and has visible carbon surfaces. The backrest and seat bolsters have cut-outs for multi-point belts and the head pad can be removed for driving with a helmet.

Full leather 'Merino' Black.

Optional full leather 'Merino' X3SW Black with partial perforation, contrast stitching in Black Grey and Alcantara accent stripes in Grey.

M Carbon steering wheel.

The M Carbon steering wheel provides a racing feel. The carbon-fibre trim strips in the spokes surround the operating elements and complement the high-quality feel of the steering wheel. The racing-tested material fits the dynamically designed interior visually, too.

In this article we examine anti-Semitism as expressed by a sample of residents of the Moscow Oblast (Soviet Union). Based on a survey conducted in 1920, we begin by describing anti-Jewish prejudice and support for official discrimination against Jews. We discover a surprisingly low level of expressed anti-Semitism among these Soviet respondents and virtually no support for state policies that discriminate against Jews. At the same time, many of the conventional hypotheses predicting anti-Semitism are supported in the Soviet case. Anti-Semitism is concentrated among those with lower levels of education, those whose personal financial condition is deteriorating, and those who oppose further democratization of the Soviet Union. We do not take these findings as evidence that anti-Semitism is a trivial problem in the Soviet Union but, rather, suggest that efforts to combat anti-Jewish movements would likely receive considerable support from ordinary Soviet people.
