Bruce Springsteen and the E Street Band’s long-awaited North American tour is set to launch Feb. 1, 2023, in Tampa, Florida, the band announced today. The two-and-a-half-month tour will unfold with 31 shows in the U.S., continuing through a home-state finale on April 14 in Newark, New Jersey, before the group heads to Europe for already announced overseas dates that will continue into July.

The outing is the band’s first since wrapping the 14-month worldwide “River Tour” in Australia in 2017 and Springsteen’s first tour in the U.S. since 2016. See the complete itinerary, below.

All of the dates announced are one-night arena stands, with the exception of two nights booked for the UBS Arena in Belmont Park, NY as the penultimate stop on the U.S. tour April 9 and 11. The New York/New Jersey area is well-represented with further dates at Madison Square Garden April 1 and Brooklyn’s Barclays Center April 3, leading up to the final night April 14 at New Jersey’s Prudential Center.

Tickets for the U.S. shows go on sale later this month, with on-sale dates ranging from July 20 to July 29.

The 2023 European dates already surpassed one million tickets sold on the initial routing, with shows added across the continent in anticipation of the band’s return to the road next year. Popular demand has seen Springsteen and the E Street Band add second stadium dates in Barcelona (April 28 and 30), Paris (May 13 and 15), Amsterdam (May 25 and 27) and Oslo (June 30 and July 2), while third shows have been scheduled for Dublin (May 5, 7, 9) and Gothenburg (June 24, 26, 28). With the milestone in ticket sales, a new tour stop has also been added in Hockenheim, Germany for July 21. Shows in the U.K. and Belgium will be announced at a later date.

The last live appearance by the band was an appearance on “Saturday Night Live” in December 2020 in support of the album, “Letter to You.”

Said Springsteen: “After six years, I’m looking forward to seeing our great and loyal fans next year. And I’m looking forward to once again sharing the stage with the legendary E Street Band. See you out there, next year — and beyond.”

In May, Springsteen phoned in to SiriusXM’s E Street Radio to talk about what fans can expect.

“It doesn’t feel that long” since the band last toured, he told host Jim Rotolo. “We’ve stayed busy over that time but still I have got the jones to play live very badly at this point, so I am deeply looking forward to getting out there in front of our fans.”

Rehearsals will start in January, and that full-fledged tour will stretch out to Australia and New Zealand following the August U.S. stadium dates and come “back around again,” he teased.

“It’s been a while and I am just aching to play — not just play but to travel and see our fans in all our different cities and feel that life again, see their faces again,” he said. “We’ve got an old-school tour planned where we will be out there for quite a while and give everybody a chance to see us if they would like to. We are going to rehearse in January — I already wrote out set lists, just to have something to do,” he added, noting that the setlist “will have a significant amount of recent material, and then we will play a lot of the music that the fans have become familiar with and love to hear. Should be a balance — feel contemporary and at home at the same time.”

In 2021, Springsteen, 72, released the group’s “The Legendary 1979 No Nukes Concerts” film, collaborated with President Barack Obama on the book “Renegades: Born in the USA” and reprised his “Springsteen on Broadway” show to help reopen New York City’s theaters last summer. Just this spring and summer, he made three live appearances: two at MetLife Stadium on two separate occasions in New Jersey with Paul McCartney (June 16) and Coldplay (June 5) , and with McCartney again at the Glastonbury Festival in London.

The newly announced U.S. dates:

The on-sale times listed above are all for participants in Ticketmaster’s Verified Fan program, preceding a general on-sale by five hours, with the exceptions of the shows with asterisks, where tickets will go on sale to all buyers at once.

The Other Eras Tour: 9 Thoughts on Bruce Springsteen at Madison Square Garden

By Brian Hiatt

Brian Hiatt

After a two-hour-plus main set that slammed home themes of mortality and impermanence and the way of all flesh, Bruce Springsteen reemerged on Madison Square Garden’s stage Saturday night, April 1, for his usual lengthy encore, and announced “something special for New York City.” He pointed over at Soozie Tyrell, who began a dead-on recreation of one of rock’s few canonical violin melodies, over piano from all-time-great arpeggio purveyor Roy Bittan. They eased the E Street Band into the 11-minute-long, 48-year-old mini-rock-opera “Jungleland,” played and sung with enough muscle and drama and soaring perfection to momentarily make the rest of the show’s messages seem like a lie. Death? Impossible. Decline? Not tonight.

Editor’s picks

Every awful thing trump has promised to do in a second term, the 250 greatest guitarists of all time, the 500 greatest albums of all time, the 50 worst decisions in movie history.

Still, he could mix it up a bit more. Besides the “Jungleland” addition, there is one near-wildcard slot in the setlist, filled at MSG with his taut-as-ever, if overused over the years, reworking of Jimmy Cliff’s “Trapped” (at the previous stop on the tour, it was “Darkness on the Edge of Town” in that slot, which would’ve been more welcome). In the actual Eras Tour, Taylor Swift has a truly rotating song slot, offering a chance to slip the deepest of cuts into the set every night. With Springsteen’s vast catalog, including the entire, as-yet-unplayed-before-a-paying-audience Western Stars album from 2019 (that title track, one of his best-ever songs, should kill live), slipping in one real obscurity every night certainly couldn’t hurt. There’s other songs, too, including “Johnny 99,” that seem eminently swappable on any given night.

Bruce Springsteen and the E Street Band Are Playing on the Beach in Asbury Park. Here's How It Happened

Bruce springsteen plots return to the road in spring 2024, bruce springsteen postpones remaining 2023 tour dates due to peptic ulcer disease.

Max Weinberg, who has the greatest physical challenge of anyone in the band as a 71-year-old arena-rock drummer, has been preparing for this tour practically since the last one ended in 2017, and his feel, groove, and sense of time seemed subtler than ever. A shades-wearing Garry Tallent was, as always, impossibly locked into Weinberg’s kick drum, even as the arena’s inevitable muddiness sometimes meant he was more felt than heard. It’s always fun to figure out what parts Nils Lofgren — now a simultaneous Crazy Horse member and E Streeter — is adding to the mix, from a fancy rhythm guitar-bit on “No Surrender” to a chops-enhanced version of a guitar break originated by Springsteen on “Rosalita.”

This tour’s extra horns and singers only enhanced the show — with just a couple of exceptions. The horn section, in particular, is most welcome when it’s doing something interesting, which is often, as on the New Orleans breaks of “Johnny 99,” on the twin songs from The Wild, The Innocent, and the E Street Shuffle , and of course “Tenth Avenue Freeze-Out.” It only feels superfluous when the players are roped into recapitulating, and almost overpowering, signature riffs during two encore hits, “Dancing in the Dark” and “Glory Days.”

Jake Clemons is a miracle. Springsteen’s songs evoked ghosts throughout the evening, and Clemons invoked one just in his playing and presence. His big-lunged tenor sax tone has always had an uncanny resemblance to his late uncle Clarence Clemons’ otherwise singular sound. But at the Garden, after more than a decade in the band, Jake sounded more like his late predecessor than ever, even as, at age 43, he continued to bring his own youthful-by-E-Street standards energy to the stage. From the start, the other 21st-century replacement for a departed E Streeter, skilled keyboardist Charlie Giordano, has seemed less wedded to Danny Federici’s organ parts. But then again, Federici himself was rarely wedded to his own studio parts on any given night.

Even if some of the crowd had trouble staying in the moment, Springsteen never did.  He still shut his eyes in utter immersion as he sang “Badlands” for the 1,229th time, and still drew energy from the audience in some eerie yet very real way. (Yes, that number is correct, per Brucebase .) He still has some surprises left on guitar, with his solo on “Kitty’s Back” noticeably straying from his usual harmonic vocabulary to match his horn players’ more adventurous note choices. And his voice continues to do that weird thing where it somehow sounds stronger towards the end of the show than at the beginning.

It’s “sways,” damn it. Newly aware of the mildly ludicrous debate over whether Mary’s dress sways or waves on “Thunder Road,” Springsteen is now singing “sways” with exaggerated clarity and a huge smile.

Set List: Bruce Springsteen & The E Street Band 2023-2024 Tour

In September 2023, Bruce Springsteen was forced to postpone the remainder of his tour so that he could recover from peptic ulcer disease—doctor’s orders. Thankfully, by early 2024, he was back to his rock god self and able to pick up right where he left off. He relaunched his tour with a show in Phoenix on March 19, during which he apologized to the crowd for any “inconvenience.” (As if anyone in that deafening crowd could be mad at the Boss!). The nearly 30-song set includes fan favorites like “Born to Run” and “Dancing in the Dark,” along with a few surprise covers (the Phoenix date featured “Nightshift” by The Commodores and “Twist and Shout” by The Beatles). Springsteen is joined as usual by The E Street Band, a full horn and brass section, and four backup singers, and will play dozens of rescheduled shows in Los Angeles, D.C., Calgary, and more, before wrapping in Vancouver in November.

Is there a support act?

There is no support listed for Bruce, but that's no surprise. The shows are legendary and tend to go on for almost three hours on some occasions.

Are there tickets left?

There are still tickets left for the Sunday, May 5 concert and they are priced from £74.

Granted, it's still not easy on the bank account, but with a show that's going to be probably three hours long and full of high energy, super Springsteen hits and more , it's going to be worth it to be in the presence of one of the world's greatest ever rock stars. Now these £74.60 are available from Ticketmaster and there are plenty left, but, just to include all the information, they are on the side, block U32 to be exact, so you won't be able to see the show full frontal and they are sold as having an "obstructed view".

Last year, we went to Harry Styles' Principality Stadium gig last minute and chanced a side seat, with "obstructed view" and here's our verdict on the seats - which this time were even further over in block U33. With different show and stage set ups the experience will be different to Harry Styles. Ticketmaster also have fan-to-fan resale tickets too.

Sites such as Viagogo allow fans to buy resale tickets from other fans, with the former having resale tickets starting at £64.

However, it is important to note that many event promoters say tickets should not be resold after initial purchase and will not be valid for admittance to gigs.

Fans attending live events with tickets acquired through resale websites are advised to double check the ticket terms and conditions at the point of sale - such as Ticketmaster or Live Nation - to ensure a smooth live event experience. Tickets could be voided if they were found to be bought second-hand. As a result, fans are buying at their own risk. With that said, viagogo also commented: "viagogo is a regulated marketplace where fans have the guarantee."

Important entry information

  • Do not screenshot your tickets
  • Make sure you transfer tickets to friends/family
  • Make sure your phone is fully charged
  • Make time for bag searches - Bags no larger than A4 Size (30cm x20cm x20cm) allowed
  • Principality Stadium is a cashless venue

Great Western Railway (GWR)

GWR will run additional services to help customers get home after the concert. Extra trains will operate from Cardiff Central to Swansea , Newport , Bristol and Swindon; with plenty of parking available at station car parks.

Trains are, however, expected to be very busy immediately after the concert and a queueing system will be in place outside the station to help people board trains safely.

Those travelling from further afield should check connecting services, and the time of their last train home, at www.gwr.com/check .

Bruce Springsteen and The E Street Band

Bruce Springsteen and the E Street Band made up for lost time at Thursday night’s concert.

The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame group played more than two dozen songs in a hits-packed performance at the JMA Wireless Dome in Syracuse. The show was originally scheduled for September and postponed when Springsteen was diagnosed with peptic ulcer disease .

Watch Michelle Obama sing backup — and play tambourine! — for Bruce Springsteen at a concert in Spain

The former First Lady took the stage with Kate Capshaw and Patti Scialfa for a performance of "Glory Days."

Jessica is a staff writer at Entertainment Weekly, where she covers TV, movies, and pop culture. Her work has appeared in Bustle, NYLON, Cosmopolitan, InStyle, and more. She lives in California with her dog.

Michelle Obama , honorary member of Bruce Springsteen 's E Street Band?

At least she was this week when she joined the Boss on stage during his April 28 concert in Barcelona for a performance of "Glory Days." Obama sang backup vocals and played the tambourine alongside former actress Kate Capshaw , wife of filmmaker Steven Spielberg , and Patti Scialfa , E Street member and wife of Springsteen.

The former First Lady and her husband, Barack Obama , were in Spain with Spielberg and Capshaw and spent the day sightseeing ahead of Springsteen's concert at Lluis Companys Olympic Stadium on Friday night. Obama, Spielberg, and Springsteen dined at the Amar restaurant in the Palace Hotel the night before the concert and even posed for a photo with staff, Reuters reports.

The former U.S. president and the Boss are longtime pals: Springsteen rallied for Obama during his 2008 presidential campaign and performed at his inaugural presidential address in 2009 and again at a private farewell address in 2017. Obama also awarded Springsteen with the Presidential Medal of Freedom in 2016. The two recently collaborated on a 2021 podcast, Renegades: Born in the USA , centered on their lives, friendship, music, and enduring love for America.

"It's a little rare; you don't make that many friendships later in life," Springsteen said during a joint appearance with Obama on Graham Norton's eponymous talk show last year. "You bump into somebody that you have some things in common with and he happens to be the president of the United States… It all worked out."
